okay, i am GENUINELY not trying to be patronizing or condescending right now, but the amount of pearl-clutching and freaking out that's happened in the past six months or so about the wrestlers you write about finding your fic has been quite high, and VERY GENUINELY, if you are one of the people panicking: how did you not factor this in as a possibility in the first place? i'm being serious. how did you, when you sat down to write about real people, not think that those very real people with internet connections and a metric fuckton of boring travel time were not going to find fanfics about themselves if they wanted to?

we are in an age where fanfiction is mainstream. back in 2000, when i was in high school, you didn't talk about that shit, but now? people are reccing fanfics on tiktok videos. publishing has figured out that writers here put out good stuff and are repackaging it for profit. ao3 is a hugo award winning fanfiction archive. y'all. it's out there. it's all out there. this is a fan space. it's still our space. you can't stop them from ending up here, but that's on them, not us. if you're freaking out, then maybe this isn't something you want to be doing. i'm being very serious. if this is causing you panic, you probably should not be part of this in the year 2024. but, like, i would bet a fairly substantial amount of money that at least 50% of them are well aware of what their number one pairing on ao3 is.

they're already here. they already know. they have always known lol. i'm, like, 75% sure i've had lines lifted from fics before, and honestly, that's not a panic moment, that's a fuck yeah i really nailed that moment. you're not doing anything wrong. this is a fan space. as long as you aren't putting it in front of them and they came here on their own? besties, you're good. you're great. it's fine. i'm being serious, please stop panicking. you gotta roll with it if you're gonna be here. you gotta assume that, at any point, someone involved could find what you're writing. genuinely, if you are not comfortable with that, then you're gonna have to just keep your fics to some google docs you share with a few friends. i know that not everyone has had a red alert level 5 the call is coming from inside the house moment, but it's one of those things. it comes with the territory.

we gotta stop freaking out every month lol. take the acknowledgements and laugh about them. it's fun when they give shout-outs! they know what's cookin'. it's cute that they keep an eye on fandom and what's hitting with us. don't put it in their faces, don't tag them on social media with it, just keep doin' what you're doin' here in the fan space and having a nice time. i promise you'll be okay.

Oh yeah I definitely need to get in the zone to write. Some days are easier than others lol

As for tips… keep in mind these are my personal tips and it’s not one size fits all – you gotta figure out what works out for you personally

1. Have a good idea about what you’re writing

It might seem a bit obvious but having a good idea of what you want to write does help a bunch. I’m more excited to write if I know what scenes I’m working on and how they relate to the story.

Think about what scenes you want to include while you’re not writing, that way you have something to look forward to when you’re actually sitting in front of your word doc.

Scenes that I’ve been thinking about a lot just fly by because I’m excited to finally get the words out onto the page and I have a good understanding of how things might play out.

2. Set the vibe

Exactly what it says on the tin. Identify what helps you stay in the zone and ready to write and use it to your advantage.

Does listening to music help? Turn it up. Does a specific environment help you pay attention? Go there and if you can’t, try to replicate it. Is your font difficult to read or just plain boring? Change it Comic Sans!

(That last one is a joke but I’m not gonna stop you if you wanna change your default typeface to Comic Sans lmao)

Work on your own environment and make it as writer friendly as possible. But also never underestimate the power of changing things up once in a while.

For example: I typically write in my room where I know no one will distract me. I do short spurts of writing when I get home from work and do longer sessions on weekends. I put on a random playlist and shuffle it, but occasionally I change it up and play video game OSTs.

I tend to change the colour of my pages in Google Docs to be pastel colours so I can still see my words but feel less intimidated by the white of an empty page. I avoid snacking on chips while I write because I dislike grease and flavouring getting on my keyboard.

On the rare occasion when I’m on a weekend trip, I bring my laptop along so I can still do some writing during quiet moments before bed.

This is just what works for me. I’m well aware some of these environmental factors are very niche but you gotta experiment to see what works for you!

3. Minimise distractions but know when you need to take a break

As much as I would love to, you can’t write while scrolling through Tumblr lol. It’s a classic piece of advice but for a good reason. Focus on the page in front of you and put your phone far away from you if you have to.

But also recognise when you’ve had enough of writing. I’ve found that sometimes during a long writing session, I start to skip words or my descriptions start to not make any sense or something else. It’s a pretty good sign that you need to take a quick break and give your brain a refresh.

Go outside, put on a short YouTube video, do some chores, scroll tumblr, just do something short and sweet that will allow your brain a little break so you can get back to writing once you’re done.

If you are really struggling with staying focused and in the zone, I would recommend trying a writing sprint.

I only found out about these this year but they have been massively helpful in getting me to stay focused.

Set a timer for however long you want (I usually go for 10 minutes) and write non-stop until that timer goes off. You don’t even need to worry about grammar and spelling. Just get the words out and you can edit them later.

It helps identify when it’s break time and sometimes you’ll find that you’ll want to keep on writing after the timer has gone off.

4. Just get the dang words out on the page

I will be completely honest, it took me a really long time to understand this piece of advice because it felt obvious. Turns out I was wrong! So let me explain!

Your first draft is your worst version of your writing. No one else will see it so give yourself full permission to fuck up.

Write as many ‘he said, she sighed, they did x’ as you want! Write meta jokes for yourself when you can’t remember how much has passed in-universe! Write parts that you’re still on the fence about including! Write bad jokes you’re not sure will land! Write whatever you want!

Then, once you’ve finished writing and you’re onto proofreading, go through your work multiple times and note what you need to change.

Have you used the same word multiple times in this one sentence? Use another one. Do you like this theme that seems to have developed during the writing phase? Go back and include it more. Is this character repeating an action too many times? Find something else they can do that matches the mood.

Your first draft is supposed to be messy and incomplete. The proofreading stage is where you act as your own worse critic and fix any issues you see.

And if there’s still an issue you’re having trouble with while you proofread? Highlight it and come back later. It’s not going anywhere.

By actually focusing on your writing and getting words on the page, you are more likely to stay in the zone and keep writing! You just need to take that first step and start writing.

Hey, just finished my re-read of TBBW and am looking forward to new chapters, any idea of when they will be posted? Keep writing and rocking!

Oh thank you! ✨❤️✨ I've had several asks like this over the past several months and my answer has always been different lol because I always end up writing more.

Not sure how up-to-date you are with what's happening with TBBW so I'll explain: the editing I talked about doing in the end notes of the last chapter I posted? Yeah, kinda turned into a full rewrite.

I started writing TBBW in 2020 and I like to believe my skill as a writer has grown a lot since then and not only that, but the story has grown too. It's evolved into something so much greater than I ever thought it would be. Originally, it was gonna be like 20 chapters? And it wasn't going to be a full canon rewrite, there was going to be time jumps instead, moving onto season 4 quickly - there was no damon murder arc - it was almost a completely different fic. The story that it is now, the one posted on AO3 isn't even a full canon rewrite, more a canon divergence --- but what I'm writing right now certainly is.

I lasted until chapter 5 before I started adding new chapters. As the chapter count stands right now (43, no longer 35) I know its not set in stone because if I've written 8 new chapters already and I'm only on chapter 30, I'm bound to write more by the time I'm done. Elijah, Kol and Rebekah are much more central to the story, with their own flashback chapters and character arcs weaved into the subplots. I've slowed down the Klaroline development even further so it feels like you're there with them, getting to know them, slowly falling in love with them as they are each other. Sam and Kiera are now much more developed and well-rounded characters, with conflicts with Klaus. The Mystic Falls gang are more present, and you get to see Caroline's relationships with her friends and Tyler evolve and twist and strain and bind tighter, depending on the situation.

This rewrite has dozens of new scenes (at this point I've lost count how many), dozens more of extended scenes and dialogue (I'm currently writing chapter 30, which will now be entirely klaroline, set after the 20s decade dance when Klaus drives her home) and the word count is continuely rising. I actually broke google docs and hit the word count limit so I've had to split the rewrite into two docs: PART 1 (Chapters 1-21) and PART 2 (Chapters 22-43? 45? Who fucking knows at this point). I'm on about 280/290k rn overall. And although I'm writing chapter 30 currently, I haven't actually finished 30 chapters --- I've only completely finished around 25 and many of them need editing once this rewrite is finished.

I'm hoping I'll be finished by Christmas, my present to you all. But I can't garrentee it. Whenever the update comes, it's going to be posted all at once and you will be able to devour it to your hearts desire. The new chapters, which I guess were originally going to be chapter 36 and 37, are drafted out a little bit but I gotta admit stuff doesn't really start happening till the end of 37, as I'm basically starting a new subplot arc. It's mostly canon and/or filler stuff to start with, so not that exciting. I doubt they'll take long to finish once the rewrite is done, but I make no promises. After that, I'll be back on my bullshit of regular chapter updates, hopefully. Then the fun really begins.

Whatever the case, when this update lands, I'm hoping to blow your socks off. Jury's out on whether that'll happen, but I guess we'll see.

So I found this post on Threads and it got me thinking... So fuck it, here are some "rules" I fuckin despise

(I replied there but I wanna go a bit more in depth)

• Threefold rule/rule of three: though I do believe in... universal retribution? Sometimes you gotta be someone's retribution. I've seen way too many good people suffer through horrible things that they didn't deserve, and even more horrible people never pay for the harm they've caused others. It's more like a "do no (unprovoked) harm" IMO

• "You can't work with deities from different pantheons" and/or "you can't work with deities that don't like each other": Deities are far more complex than humans, and most of them can tolerate each other for the sake of their devotees. As always, just be mindful about the deities you choose to work with and their personalities.

• On a similar note "you have to believe in/work with deities": no, you don't. Atheist witches exist. And even if you believe in deities, you don't have to work with them if you don't want to. Your spell work isn't going to be less powerful because of that.

• "you can't mix and match types of magic": give me a break. If you like using runes to communicate with your Christian deities because that's the tool that works best for you and they answer that way, more power to you. Do what works for you. Just be mindful about it and don't be sticking your nose where you're not supposed to (looking at you, people who fuck around with closed practices).

• Correspondences (so much bs around what thing is what). Correspondences are not the same for everyone. For example: I love carnations. They've always been one of my favorite flowers. If my bf gifted me a carnation bouquet, I'll most definitely use those carnations in love spells because that's what I associate those carnations with. I don't care if you associate them with death or whatever (they're very popular in cemeteries where I live). Context matters.

• Feminine/masculine energy: there's SO MUCH sexism behind that. It's a lot to unpack here.

• "spells need to be well thought of and can't be improvised": once again, if that's what works best for you, that's great! In my case, I have countless spells that I've "designed", you know how many of them I did? None. You wanna know which ones I did and worked best? The one's where I've been like "okay, I need to achieve [intent] so let's see..." and mushed a bunch of things together, with whatever felt right at the moment, said a couple words, several profanities and ta-da! Worked like a charm (pun intended). So yea, to each their own.

• "you have to be initiated", whether its done by someone else or yourself, "you have to have a ritualistic initiation": my initiation was adding "baby witch" to my Tumblr bio lol is that ritualistic enough for y'all? Tbh the whole initiation bit feels a bit gatekeepy for me. As I've been saying, if you've done it because you wanted to do it, then that's amazing, but expecting eeeveryoooneee to do it as well is weird, idk.

• Related to the last one "you have to have a coven": my small-town, socially traumatized, opinionated, anxious ass couldn't handle it. I won't deny that being a self-taught witch feels lonely at times but I don't think I could just join a coven just because I "need" it. If I ever found a place that makes me feel welcome and whatnot, maybe I'll consider it but even then... Paraphrasing Cher "men covens are a luxury, not a necessity."

• "you have to have a grimoire/book of shadows": my AHDH won't allow it, sorry. I can't keep track of it and honestly I've tried everything lol a traditional notebook, a side blog, the notes app on my phone, docs on my PC... I just can't keep up with it. My grimoire is mostly in my head and that's where it works best. I'm not planning on "passing it along" so... And if I ever need to refresh something, I can almost always google it.

• back to deity-related rules "offerings need to be done in a ritualistic/specific way and you can't eat them/throw them into the trash": once again, depends on who you're working with and the occasion. There was a time I was working with 5 different deities (3 of "my own" plus 2 "borrowed ones", for a lack of better words) and I was making offerings for them every week, meaning almost an offering everyday and honestly who has the time for making that super extra? Not me. They knew that and understood. The same way they understand when I can't provide an offering for whatever reason. But again, that's depending on your relationship with your deities.

• "Meditation/visualization is a must": yea, that's not it and it's kind of ableist when you think about it. Some neurodivergent people can't meditate/our meditations aren't the same as other's. As well, some people are literally incapable of visualizing pictures in their mind as they can only think in words. More so, even the people who can visualize pictures can sometimes see unclear pictures/outlines/shadows. Not everyone is capable of creating FULL HD 4K images inside their brains and "mental clarity" isn't a thing when your "train of thought" is the equivalent to the entire public transportation system of Buenos Aires, with interceptions, connecting routes and lines that are out of service due to mechanical issues. So yes, if you can't mediate/visualize, don't give it much though and focus on what works for you ok, I'm done with the puns

There's probably a lot more that I can't remember so that's it for now.

+ (overly-detailed) storytime about instagram research under the cut (since i'm using your ask to take a trip down memory lane...)

back in 2021, with tremendous help from @carninator-blog (who was equally as interested in the "MotA Cast Investigation"), i managed to cobble together a growing list of cast and crew members (sometimes, i was faster than imdb lol). instagram was the Key tho, like it was INVALUABLE! if you found one person, they might post a story that shows Another person with them and, if you recognized That person, then you could find Their profile (if they had one). and so on and so forth.

anyway, it's a lot easier to do the instagram stuff now (can you believe i mainly use it for "research"). i browse the search term "mastersoftheair" and have retired the rest: "mota" (too much weed lmao), "masteroftheair" (an easy typo, but no one makes that mistake anymore), and "whirlwind" (production name which yielded 1 result out of like. 50 or more). i even had to download an old version of the instagram app bc they just HAD to get rid of the "recent" tab which is crazy inconvenient! that's where all the timely information is!!

another thing. a few guys straight up Do Not have an instagram profile (....like nate mann. it'd be hypocritical of me to not respect it but come onnnnnnn, nate mann!!) and, while some guys Do have a profile, they never post anything about MotA Ever (like fionn o'shea). further- some guys don't have a profile anymore, but they used to (like kai alexander). some guys have a private one (valid. also callum turner), some guys suddenly got Verified some time inbtwn the production and the premiere (the elliot(t)s), and some guys changed their user name (like josiah cross). every once in a long while, i have to go update my cast/crew instagram profile list on google docs with all the names and links and GODDDD i sound like a weirdass stalker now that i've put this all into words, but believe me when i say i'm very much not invested in any of the actors' personal lives!! i try to keep it as professional as i can (everything's sourced, like an archive). i'm only ever looking for the MotA stuff, Exclusively.

additionally, a lot of behind the scenes pics and videos would Only get posted in cast members' stories. if i missed that 24hr window, i'd never see it again (unless they decided to put them on their profile), so, i'd check their instagram profiles Every Day whenever i was free. on the bright side tho, a lot of them were Fantastic behind the scenes pics/videos and "watching" the production of this show from afar (through instagram, of all things) was a lot of fun in the midst of pandemic anxieties and boredom (go check my 'video' tag if you're ever in the mood for some on-set cast shenanigans!)

while i'm here tho, i've gotta say that while keeping up with the cast back then was fun the Vast majority of the time (if nothing else, it gave me something to do during the chaos of 2021/22), i had a sorta anxiety about it sometimes wrt the, idk, "sensitivity" of the content. it was very NDA This, NDA That. i figured, "well, if they already posted it in their stories, it's probably fine" until one of the cast members Literally made a whole tumblr account and very kindly asked if i could please remove a few of the pics i posted of him bc he technically wasn't allowed to post them in the first place, so having them Out There could get him in trouble! i was SOOOO embarrassed about it and i felt Awful about the possibility of him getting in trouble all thanks to some hyper-observant internet rando (thankfully, tumblr is famously lowkey. it'd be different if it was as popular as twitter lol). after that incident, i had this semi-anxiety about "should i post this pic or just That one? should i Not post this?? should i download/save them and post them after there's a big announcement of some kind??? where's the line?!! What Do Now???!!". it didn't help matters when, in the MotA behind the scenes facebook page, a bunch of really cool set pictures would sometimes get deleted within an hour bc Whoops! the poster actually wasn't allowed to share those (and, even if i'd already downloaded them before they got wiped, would i be able to post them, despite being under no such NDA myself? or would i get another mysterious DM?)

but that's all in the past, now! i'm pretty sure i've posted Every Single One of those behind the scenes pics/videos, provided i downloaded them in time. if not, sometimes the (finally active) MotA subreddit has my back lol.

further, looking for Any MotA content during from 2021 to 2023 came with acknowledging the eventual "droughts" (what i nicknamed them) where it'd be a good while before i saw anything new at all. bc of this, i have a legitimate soft spot for certain cast members who posted a lot of updates/pics/videos Wayyyy before we even got the first teaser (s/o to luke coughlan, louis greatorex, jordan coulson, josh bolt, and josiah cross for keeping hope alive)

I am definitely a write as I go person. I tried planning out what I wanted to do for Surprising and the plan made me so mad that I had to throw it out 😅

13. what’s a common writing tip that you almost always follow?

Oooh that’s an interesting question! Of course right now I can’t think of a single one 😂 but I can think of “rules” that I was taught not to do that I always break. Like “don’t edit as you write”. I always go back and change stuff while I’m writing. Probably because I’m a write as I go person, but if the words feel wrong, I gotta fix them before I move on.

34. Five years from now, where do you see yourself as a writer?

Hmmm. Probably kinda similar to where I am now, though hopefully with a few more fics finished by then? Hopefully real life will be calmer by then (I mean, it HAS to be, right?!) so I’ll be in a better position for writing. I’m still hoping one day to write a good love story based on my own life, so maybe in another 5 years something will happen so I can get writing? Who knows! Lol

46. How would you describe your style? (Character/emotion/action-driven, etc)

Ooh that’s interesting, not something I’ve ever thought about before really. I’d say I’m more about the feels, I tend to lean towards a lot more exposition and thoughts and character study of why they did something over the action of them actually doing it. Guess I’m literally feeling the story out 🥁😜

58. What part of the writing process do you enjoy the most? (Brainstorming, outlining, writing, editing, etc)

Posting it and having it actually done and out of my head? Does that count? Lol. Ummm I really tend to do everything all in one go, just write and think and edit as I go, with one final look over before I post. And that final edit is always the worst, because I’m done with everything else and just want to post it already, so I guess the writing part is my favorite.

Amorra oneshot - Flowers

Well, I was scrolling for my google docs and then I found this little thing. I improved it and corrected a lot of parts (anyway, I ask for forgiveness if I made some grammar mistake enough to make your eyes bleed) because WE NEED MORE AMORRA CONTENT. 

Disclaimer: It follows the AU “Amon and Korra are enemies with benefits, lol.”

“So… that was a nice detail.” Korra nonchalantly says, sending a brief look towards the vase with orchids over her bedside table. 

Amon follows her gaze and raises an eyebrow. Then, he remembers that she can’t see his expression. “What are you talking about?”

Her mouth shapes into a sly smile before she makes herself comfortable on his lap, placing her arms around his neck. The gesture is unusually coquettish coming from her, but he doesn’t complain. It has its appeal. 

“Don’t play silly. I know it was you who sent the bouquet. I gotta admit it, it was a good joke, although it wasn’t very fun having the girls and Pema asking me every minute of the day if I had a boyfriend.” Before Amon can say something, Korra adds. “And the orchids made Naga sneeze.”

Amon refrains from snorting because this entire situation is absolutely hilarious. A bouquet of orchids? Also, why would Korra think that a gift like that was supposed to mock her?

“It wasn’t me, Avatar.” He finally utters, tilting his head when he watches her flinching at his words. “What about the Councilman Tarrlok? Everyone in Republic City knows he has a taste for sending you stuff like that.” 

Korra huffs. “It was an anonymous gift, there’s no way he can do something without gloating, you know. ‘Avatar Korra, did you like the orchids I sent you?’” She kind of imitates the arrogant tone of the Councilman and Amon almost lets out a chuckle. She has a point about his brother, he acknowledges. “And, well… Mako is dating Asami, Boling gave up on me some time ago, so… I thought it was more probable you were making fun of me for doing something pretty oogie.”

Korra makes a disgusted look, but the red spreading across her cheeks and the way in which she avoids his gaze give her away. She is kind of disappointed.  His hands come to encircle her waist, his fingers softly digging into the soft skin beneath her shirt. Sensing it, she locks eyes with him. 

“Being the Avatar turns you into a celebrity for every bender of this city.” He remarks. He seems to spit out the words “Avatar” and “bender” and Korra frowns and balls her hands for a second. Whether it was for that or the condescending tone he is using, he isn’t sure. “It is, in any case, normal that you receive these details.”

The silence stretches between them after that. Amon sees conflict and shame dancing in her blue eyes as if her mind is working to apprehend the entire situation. Finally, she groans and untangles her arms from his neck to cross them over her chest.

“Just forget it. Anyway, I don’t like flowers so much.”

Amon never meant to feel something regarding the girl. If he approached her, it was to obtain information, monitor her closely, and get a hold of her. He has been gradually successful. He already has gotten into her bed. On the emotional side, he is watching the results right now. She is getting attached to him. But, for some reason, something stings in the back of his head seeing her like this. 

With a little amount of awkwardness, he caresses her from waist to hips, waiting for her reaction. Her apprehensive expression slowly changes, and Amon feels his pants start to tighten when he sees her bit her lip at him taking her breasts in his hands. Then, what he murmurs in her ear earns him a smirk from her.

“I didn’t fool the inept guards of Air Temple Island to merely talk.”

Enough signal for things to return to the status quo. 

He never is going to send her flowers. She is his enemy, not his lover, although he sometimes expects their nightly encounters more than he would like to admit. But his merciful gift for tonight is to erase the deception from her face.

3. I feel like roughly 95% of my writing is romance based to some extent or another... so like just about all sdkjff (9/10 scale)

4. So I had to look the term up, but if I'm understanding the definition correctly it would be for a Pokemon Legends: Arceus fic I started awhile back and never finished. I had roughly like... 5 optional endings offhand and I wasn't sure which one I planned on using officially and had been tempted to make multi-endings just for the same of letting the readers pick their own idea of a proper ending.

7. Ohhhh boy, this one is gonna be interesting. So like my first fanfic was actually about Batty from Fern Gully. It was about how he escaped from the testing facility and ended up in the rainforest. I don't remember too much of it since I was like 7? But like I remember I liked how it turned out at the time nad was super proud of it. ^^

10. Honestly I usually slap a half assed temp-title to help me remember the idea I had but sometimes I'll get an idea for the title mid-writing or with a phrase said by a character and I'm like "oooo thats gold, gotta make that the title". On rare occasions it comes to me the moment I start lol.

34. I usually look up names relative to the region I'm writing about and go from there. Sometimes I wing it like a boss though. Main character / oc names are usually thought about for awhile lol.

55. My google docs are a hellscape of half finished / abandoned fics. I'm really bad with starting and never finishing ideas unfortunately oof. I think in the past few years I've only finished one fic, but it was hella short to begin with.

62. My reasons are usually because brainworms go nuts over random thing and I have to do the thing otherwise I have a mini breakdown or forget the idea and get mad jyhewgfwgf.

85. I've actually never done a moodboard before admittedly, but for the current ones I've got cooking I'd say lavender themes with hints of gravestones / death indicators for one of them. The other would be red and wood themes with some bondage vibes and a few images of cameras (spicy fic dsfhgsdf)

94. I vary on that front - I do tend to over-describe a lot but I think it tends to work out a lot in my writing.

no sorry i've got more to say about tabs

my tabs, to me, are diary entries. they capture what i was feeling, what i was thinking about, what i was doing and planning to do at a certain time. i scroll back through my tabs and go oh hey, that's when i was researching my family history! awww, that's when i had that wonderful pumpkin bread at my friend's house and was looking for a recipe. oh that's when i was trying to pick up crochet! maybe i should get back into that...

like my tabs are more than just tools to me they're RECORDS. they're records of what i was doing and thinking about and wondering and researching. and they often times take me back to where i was and what i was thinking about when searching them.

you wouldn't burn a diary entry just because it's no longer applicable to your current life. similarly, i find it hard to close my tab about that book i wanted to read 3 months ago, even if i no longer have any interest in reading it anymore, because i REMEMBER sitting at home 3 months ago thinking about that book.

i once accidentally closed all 500 incognito tabs on my phone (they weren't full of anything sketch lol i started using incognito tabs bc i'd hit the limit on the regular tabs lmao [it's 500 on safari]) and i literally almost cried ASLDKJFSDFJSLJ it felt like someone had thrown the last 6 months of diary entries into a fire in front of me. like that's honestly the best way i can describe it-- they're records of my life.

i'm not trying to argue that tab hoarding is a good thing. it's certainly not ideal, for the health of my poor little laptop if nothing else. and i'm not trying to like. refute any points here lmao i'm just talking about my own experience with tab hoarding. and idk if this is why other people hoard tabs but its why i do it.

but i think that's the best way i can explain why "just close them" is tricky for me. i HAVE gone on tab cleanouts before where i purge them... but i usually take screenshots of the ones i'm going to close before i close them ALSDKJSKLDJGLSDKJGLSKDJG. because i gotta save them! it's not the pumpkin bread recipe i want to save its the memory of the way i was feeling when i searched it up!!! i can't just delete it!

like thinking about it now that i have it all written out i really uh. don't love the fact that my google searches are my modern diary ALSKDJLSKJDSF doesn't THAT feel dystopian. but it is genuinely how i feel. often times if i want to remember something, a book title or a song i heard, i'll choose to google it and leave it in an open tab rather than writing it in a notes doc or something.

anyway. so that's why i tab hoard. i really am a digital hoarder huh.

Aww thank you! I always feel bad taking breaks, but I've grown to realize (now that I have a job and not unlimited free time) that I do need to step back and relax sometimes.

My job is going through the stressful time where we're put on the phones and know pretty much nothing (we're supposed to learn by doing ;-;) so hopefully I will write more once I'm working from home and not freaking out on the phone lol

Okay... maybe I've gotten way too mad at myself last night. I can't really sleep right now so i guess Imma write in here for a bit and then i'm gonna go back to sleep.

Okay forget what i said about the google doc, I will try my absolute best to remember to tell her shit alright, she still loves you Jordan you just need to let go sometimes yk. Okay anyway the Class 700 came out for Train Sim World 3 today so Im gonna be checking that out today. I wonder what skin i should Make for minecraft cause i need something completely original and no i don't wanna use AI cause that's gonna be the death of us Istfg, I don't know it's just i get a mega bad feeling even when i see AI chatbots and shit like they just make me scared for some reason and the fact that its ramping up faster and faster everyday makes me worry about the future... I DON'T WANNA DIE BY A ROBOT, I JUST WANNA LIVE A FULL LIFE AND SEE MY GF KRISY AND HAVE A LIFE WITH HER, NOT JUST DIE BY SOME DAMN ROBOT. I think i finally might know why i keep forgetting things, I just got way too much going on in the background to remember, I have a short attention span so it's probably because work is making me do more and more shit. Except the past two work days, where we did ABSOLUTELY nothing after my lunch break. That's time where I could have been texting Krisy and spending time with her, but its whatever tho. Oh yea funny story tho from Yesterday lol, Soooo i was on an R62A 6 Train right, and i was riding the City Hall Loop and everything went all and according to plan until we skipped the Fucking Uptown Platform, it went non-stop and i was lowkey panicking cause yea i thought i was on an Out of Service dehead, thankfully we stopped at Canal street, Yea im not gonna be doing the loop after that, speaking of the 6 Train, them R62As are extremely underrated as fuck, for trains that started on the 6 as Single units and then ended up on the 7 and then came back in 2015-2016, they are pretty fast and underrated for a local train.

While we are on the topic of my gf, I think i found some places I would like to show her around

🛠️— i use google docs to write my fics! i also really only write them on my phone. 😅 i know that’s kind of insane, but for some reason my fingers just move faster with texting and i can access the doc from anywhere that way, even though i write them from like midnight to 3AM just laying in bed with my headphones in and some inspiring tunes playing (mostly Let Go x Ark Patrol and the Halo/Interstellar soundtracks). 🤣 occasionally i’ll use my laptop and listen to lo-fi, but it’s rare these days.

🙋‍♀️- only a few people in real life know that i write fan fiction— my best friend, my boyfriend and one other friend. i’m pretty sure that’s it.

🤗— advice to new fanfic writers just getting started…. hmm…

just do it. (nikeTM) lol. like i know it’s easy to get caught up in “what if no one likes my pairing, what if people think it’s stupid, what if my writing isn’t up to par,” etc. when i first started actually posting my fics years ago, i thought people would say mean things or laugh at me for the crazy ideas i had, or that i would never be able to compare to some of the more seasoned writers and thus no one would read my fics… how wrong was i! i’ve learned you’ve just gotta get past that and write what you love. the rest comes with it! there’s a lid for every pot. so maybe you don’t use words like “contumacious” or “recalcitrant,” maybe you’re more casual or more intense, but that’s literally okay! everyone has their own style of writing, and you will find your crowd. while it is obviously very nice to receive praise, don’t get caught up in stats either. there are more often than not people who will read and adore your fics and never once say anything to you or give any indication of their existence. (take it from me, i used to be one of these people.)

we are here to have fun and share ideas, find others who enjoy the same things we do, and to write what makes us happy and in turn make others happy with our stories! we as readers can also tell when someone really loves what they’re writing and is having fun doing it. my biggest “tell” is when i’m editing my own chapters. if i find myself grazing through it or waiting for a specific part, i’m almost positive my reader is probably doing the same. i always make sure to sit on it and go back later for editing until i know i’m enjoying it. love what you write first and foremost, because that’s far more appealing than writing for clout or without heart.

one more thing— don’t push yourself to write when you aren’t feeling it. as much as we “can’t wait for the next chapter!!!” people are also very understanding about needing time to recharge the batteries. if you wanna abandon a fic, don’t be scared to do so either. life’s wild, so is writing. sometimes it just isn’t panning out. you may never touch it again, or you might come back in 10 years with a whole new perspective and an idea to finish, and pick up a whole new crowd, and probably still have old readers still hanging around!

okay. sorry for that entire novel— but these were things i didn’t realize before and definitely wanted to enlighten anyone else who’s afraid to give it a go!

I never pay attention how much i write in an hour. Mostly 1 fic i wrote at least between 4-6K words but the most in one fic i think it's like 12K but i end up splitting them to few parts. If The Monsters Within a whole one fic it will be the longest i hv written because over 18K words n still counting. 😊

Yeah i have done that, but not scraping the wholr thing though, i scrapped almost half of it.. one time i wrote quite a lot, ideas flowed n stuff..i wrote it on google doc n it was on offline mode because i was on a flight.
