Only if it was animated, and only if it was done by people like the ones who made Song of the Sea, The Red Turtle or similar. I don’t think the entire thing would really work in the same style; an anthology of separate stories by different creators might work best. The only live action version of a Silm story I’d like to see would be Del Torro in the spirit of Pan’s Labyrinth. But overall I think the Silm material and the way people interact with it would suffer from a big studio laying claim over it. Copyright and capitalism don’t go well with this sort of story.  22. What is your opinion of Fëanor? He’s interesting. This is getting a bit long, so cut.

I think it doesn’t do the character or the story justice to make his conflict with Fingolfin entirely about his father’s affection; there’s a interesting sentence in one of the versions of the stories that indicates Fingolfin was at least perceived as threatening not just Feanor’s but also Finwe’s authority, in favour of the Valar;  Whispers came to Feanor that Fingolfin and his sons Turgon and Fingon were plotting to usurp the leadership of Finwe and of the eldest house of Feanor, and to supplant them by the leave of the Valar-- for the Valar were ill-pleased that the Silmarils lay in Tuna, and were not given in their keeping. [..] on the high day of the Valar Feanor spake words of rebellion against the Valar, crying aloud that he would depart back to the world without, and deliver, as he said, the Gnomes from thraldom, if they would follow him. And when Fingolfin sought to restrain him Feanor drew his sword. ' Combined with from yet another version; 'said Finwë: ‘While the ban lasts upon Fëanor my son, that he may not go to Tirion, I hold myself unkinged, and I will not meet my people.’ ... I think there’s room for more than just a narrative about a child insecure about his father’s love. That is also there; and it is fascinating all on its own, because he is the first person in Valinor to lose a parent, the first for so many things. But this is there, too; a potential politico-religious conflict about authority supported by Noldorin tradition vs. the Valar. Given that Ulmo called Feanor’s birth a result of Marring and Indis line the good to come of it I think this makes sense on both levels.  Anyway, aside from that I think his devolving into a state of horrible, selfish paranoia and grief leads him to do entirely awful things in an interesting way. I don’t read the character as a parallel for real world fascists/nationalists because that just doesn’t make sense in context of, well everything. Being a King in a feudal society is only the start of it... But given Tolkien’s life experiences I’d say when he uses a sentence like ‘no other race shall oust us’ the wording is deliberate, and you’re supposed to feel those associations; the way his spirit starts to twist, the wrongness of the words he uses to motivate those not convinced by the need for vengeance etc. Feanor is a character who often plays the oracle without knowing it. He predicts his own son’s final fate (Maglor) without realising it. When he sees the future he doesn’t know it, and when he is justified in his emotions or even opinions he reacts in the worst possible way. It makes him fascinating. He is too much of everything, and you get the distinct sense that he doesn’t truly understand himself.  Aside from that; well, the slender dexterity of Feanor’s fingers... haha. He was Tolkien’s favourite, clearly, and it shows. I really love what seems like his intense curiosity and need to engage with the world he lives in. I love that his heraldry seems related to the spectrum of visible light, when so much about him is about light. I think Nerdanel might be the only woman in Tolkien’s work who is not loved for her beauty but her spirit, and that in turn tells me something about Feanor’s spirit. I could go on, probably verging into headcanons. I enjoy the character; I think of his actions and eventual implied ideology are indefensible. I also think that the circumstances being what they were (no one born in the blessed realm truly understood loss, or having to let go of a possession, for one) and with the qualities ascribed to him his choices make sense.

thea grew up on a ranch in montecito, ca. both of her parents were from old money on the east coast. they knew each other when they were kids, dated in high school, and decided to elope and move to the west coast to escape their families. since they both collected trust funds, neither of them have ever worked. they really just had “hobbies” per say. they also weren’t the most mentally stable people and shouldn’t have had children, but of course went ahead and had four of them.

out of the four kids, thea is the only girl. she has two other brothers and one younger. it’s safe to say the chadwick kids had a far from normal upbringing. because their father was a bit of a recluse, they essentially grew up very isolated with little to no contact with the outside world. they were homeschooled with an extremely rigorous curriculum, and as their father’s mental illness got worse and worse he continued to basically control every aspect of their lives. as a result, thea there’s a lot that thea doesn’t know about the world. for example, she wouldn’t have a lot of the same common experiences of other kids growing up, because she grew up so isolated from everyone else. her father also drilled a sort-of superiority complex into his children. always telling them that they were these gifted child prodigies who were better than regular kids. while thea didn’t pay much attention this, it was still there.

the thing about thea, though, was that she’s always had a very defiant spirit. she was always a troublemaker in her father’s eyes. she didn’t exactly know any different from the life she grew up in, but she knew there had be something else out there from the stories she’s read in books. this led to quite a few running away attempts on her behalf. the most famous being when he coerced her young brother teddy to run away with her to go live in the metropolitan museum of art in new york like in the book from the mixed up files of mrs. basil e. frankweiler. while they did make it on the bus, it was only a matter of time before one of their housekeepers caught up with them and dragged them back to the ranch.

over time, she realized she had to conform to the rules her father set forth, and this rebellious streak went dormant for a while. his punishments became too much for her, and she hated being sent off to this psychologist to be evaluated or put on this medication that made her feel numb and disoriented. so she did what she had to do to survive, and decided it was better to go along with things and keep up a happy face than to try her hand at making waves. it became easier to daydream the day away or live vicariously through the stories she wrote in a leather-bound journal she kept hidden under her mattress. ever since, she’s always been a bit out of touch with reality. or so it seems. she has a sharper eye than what she lets on and always knows what’s really going on, but she’s extremely good at pretending like she doesn’t know what’s going on and that everything is wonderful. it’s like she lives in her own imaginary world, but this has always been easier for her and essentially her main defense mechanism. which can be harder for some to grasp, because at a certain point it seems like she’s never being real.

however, there have been a few times where’s she’s dropped the act. the first was when she was sixteen and she caught her father cheating with another woman. it was by pure accident that she walked into her father’s study that afternoon but as soon as she locked eyes with her father, she knew she’d made a grave mistake. part of her knew she should’ve just acted like she’d forgotten it’d never happened, but the other part of her was so angry about it. it led to a major fight with her father and she was very vocal about how she was going to tell her mother, which led to her father getting a doctor to try and drug her to make her forget. she didn’t forget, but she acted like she did.

the second was when she was eighteen and her brother teddy died. teddy was thea’s younger and favorite brother. they were extremely close and he was her best friend. what happened was that teddy and thea’s father got into a terrible argument, teddy left to go sailing on the family’s boat to let off some steam despite bad weather conditions, and he died in a sailing accident due to the storm. this was just the most devastating thing for her to ever experience, because she couldn’t imagine a life without her brother. and deep down, she knew her father was behind it because without the argument, she knows he wouldn’t have tried to sail that day. at this point, she went a bit off the rails. she was acting out, not eating, chain smoking, and her father just couldn’t control her anymore. when an aunt of her that she’d never met died and left her money because she’d never had kids of her own, thea told her father she was running away to new york to become a model, and that there was nothing he could do about it. of course, he wasn’t going to let that happen. but when she threatened to bring up the cheating incident to her mother, they settled on college. it was not easy to get him to agree to it, but she was becoming to much of a problem for even him to handle. thankfully, for her family’s name and for her father kept extremely detailed reports of his children’s homeschooling, and she was accepted holloway. it’s the most free she’s ever felt, and it’s like she’s fallen in love with life and the world for the first time.

personality wise?? she’s extremely social and outgoing. can get along with anyone but as a mentioned earlier, she kind of lives in her own little world and always appears to happy so this might get on some people’s nerves. she’s extremely romantic and has probably had a ton of flings. isn’t the best at being committed and is always falling in love with someone new, so may have cheated on people or have broken up with them because she can’t exactly be in a real relationship when it’s hard for her to be real. there’s definitely a lot going on in her head and she rocks a ton of secrets, some may be in-tune to this while others won’t be. doesn’t talk too much about her family, but may let some things slip. she rarely visits home and may be seen hiding tears when she’s forced to talk to her father on the phone if she needs money and has to check in with him.

WANTED PLOTS: exes, flings, someone who’s in love with her, unrequited crushes, friends, enemies, someone who sees beyond her whole facade, someone who knew her family growing up in some capacity...i will add to this, but i’m honestly open to almost anything!

STANDALONES:

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkens Reid - THIS BOOK!! I read it in a single sitting so needless to say it completely enthralled me. the format of the writing makes it SUPER easy to read too; its formatted like an interview so there arent really any paragraphs. The story, while an interview yes, follows this girl (the one Ms Daisy Jones) through her life and career as a lead singer for a fleetwood mac-esque band set in the 70s. When I picked this book up I thought man this does not seem like the kind of book Id be into but Ive heard a lot of good things so Ill give it a try (<- bad mindset ik). Nd I am SO GLAD I did because it's like my favorite book.. EVER now! What I said is the bare bones of what it is, because I am afraid if I get into more detail I will simply not stop. Category is for the book I think is coming of age + new adult!

Her Royal Highness by Rachel Hawkins - This book, is technically part of a duology. But it's a disconnected duology, meaning you dont have to read it in order to understand it. Plus I didn't really like the first one too much. PLUS plus this is a wlw story. Main character Millie is having a rough fuckin go of things ok. She has an on and off again gf and while on this gf cheats on her. This sucks but also it's not too important to the plot lol. Shes applied to a university in Scotland and she gets in! This is SO GOOD Plus it gets her away from The Ex. Getting there though, she finds out shes rooming with a literal princess of Scotland (thats. literally what the GR description says. I dont think theyre actually called princesses right?). Except Millie absolutely despises her + frankly she acts very stuck up and all the usual Im A Princess Kiss My Ass shit. But it definitely starts to turn into more due to forced proximity. I will say no more... just know the story is VERRRYYY enemies to lovers in a not-annoying booktok way and I adore it. Its a bi/lesbian wlw story that I think was portrayed really nicely (cue the mean bisexual and even meaner lesbian meme) and the category is contemporary young adult :)

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel - OHHH SECOND FAVORITE BOOK ALERT. This may be a harder book to take in because it HEAVILY reflects the pandemic we're currently in, but the book takes place in the brief beginning of a pandemic, and most of the aftermath of it. Fictional variant of the swine flu, 99% mortality rate. I will admit if you do not have Shakespearian knowledge and/or knowledge on musical instruments, this might be a tough read but it is SO worth it. The book opens with the death of a renowned Shakespeare (and in general) actor, which is pretty bleak but stay with me. After he dies, the mc (at the time, Jeevan) is feeding us the plot set up, taking in all the new information about this flu thats about to rock their shit. After we get through that though, the book follows 3 people who had a connection to the actor from the beginning - the actor's first wife (Miranda), his oldest friend (Clark), and a young actress with the Traveling Symphony (Kirsten). The Symphony move from town to town 20 years post this pandemic that has left the world quite frankly apocalyptic. No zombies, just.. there are no stores theres no technology the only way to move is to walk or to find some wagons or old cars etc. Anyways they move from town to town performing Shakespeare plays for whoever is left. She, specifically, gets caught up in the crosshairs of this batshit insane 'prophet' who, believe it or not, is connected to the same actor from the beginning of the book. But I will say no more. Please read this. Or at the very least watch the hbo show, thats what im doing now. Category for the book is technically scifi, but the author wishes it was classed as theater fiction.

Survive the Night by Danielle Vega - I will admit, it has been like 6 years now since I have read this, so this will probably be a short description. But I remember absolutely loving this book when I first read it. A lot of people say this book (and the series, which I will also reluctantly mention) is quite cheesy. It might be, but I dont personally think so. oh my god professionalism drop the mc is named the same as my gf are you fuckin kidding lmfao. anyway Survive the Night (the event, not the book. also looking at it like this, now. Someone shouldve KNOWN lmao!!!) is an all-night underground rave in the New York City subway. Casey (god that feels weird) literally just got out of rehab and her friend was like :) I know what we can do for some fun. So they go to do this. And it Sucks! Its Deadly! Literally!. Something is down in these tunnels hunting them, and all the exits are blocked. In my memory, you never see the killer, you never find out if theyre human or not. So its very unseen-horror fear of the unknown. I remember it doesnt have a particularly happy ending though, I will say that. Category is young adult horror.

The Grownup by Gillian Flynn - This is a short story, technically not a book. But its worth the read! Very easy to do in an hour or two at 60ish pages! I will say, if you do read this, be prepared to briefly read about handjobs lmfao. I promise its plot relevant. The mc who I believe remains unnamed works at - I cant remember if the Shop is fraudulent or if only She is - a psychic shop. One morning, a woman comes in to make the mc's life hell, and of course the mc doesnt know this. So obviously she adds insult to injury by lying to this woman to give her life some drama. I cant say more without getting into the plot, but the story takes a Lot of turns. Category Id say is adult thriller.

The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Sáenz - I remember when I was reading this, I specifically wondered to myself why this book wasn't talked about as much as The Other Books. You know the ones. I cant give much of a personal description of it because most of what I remember is the EMOTIONS. This book left an Emotional impact on my life and I think of it fondly. The GR description is short though - Sal used to know his place with his adoptive gay father, their loving Mexican American family, and his best friend, Samantha. But it’s senior year, and suddenly Sal is throwing punches, questioning everything, and realizing he no longer knows himself. If Sal’s not who he thought he was, who is he? - if I can remember right, I do think there is still lgbt rep in a side character. But please dont consider it just because I said that lmao Id hate myself. Read this if you need a cathartic cry and positive outlook on life. Categories are contemporary, coming of age young adult.

There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins - DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE. IT SUCKS AND IT DOES NOT PORTRAY THE BOOK RIGHT AT ALL. anyways :) this was the first book to actually make me feel genuine fear, idc if anyone thinks its cheesy or bad. Because it made me feel that I will always recommend it as a good horror. The mc, Makani, has relocated due to a Dark and Terrible Past (spoiler: its not that bad lmfao i think that part of the story got overhyped). But at her new school, classmates are getting brutally slaughtered. Important and Deliberate word choice. Seemingly no connection between them, and the murders get more grotesque as the story progresses. I cant say more without getting into plot shit, sorry. Just know its so so good and I am completely unbiased /s. If you can handle horror do yourself a favor and read this at night. Category is young adult horror.

Wilder Girls by Rory Power - DO NOT trust anyone that says this is a sapphic book. There is one (1) kiss between two girls that is never expanded upon and never mentioned again. This is a horror novel. Its also the second book to make me Feel Something. This book made me So Uncomfortable and I think thats GOOD! The book is set on a remote island that houses an all girls school, except the girls at this school have some Fucked Up shit going on with them. Some are growing scales, some are growing new spines, its fucked up. This disease wasn't there from the start though. It's also infecting the wildlife around the school, which makes going outside the fence for any reason - let alone supplies (since theyre quarantined) - fucking awful. These girls know how to shoot. One day, the mc's best friend goes missing though, and oh boy do we learn some shit after that! Massive tw for Good descriptions of body horror. Category is young adult horror. Id probably also throw in a Liiiiittle bit of scifi personally.

A Good Girl's Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson - PRAISE BE... my favorite series to exist so far! This book follows Pip as she chooses to solve her small town's case closed murder as a senior capstone project. She plans to do this via a podcast type thing, not sure if its a podcast from the beginning. She doesnt believe that the one everyone thinks murdered this girl, IS the one who actually did it, and shes setting out to free this family from that shame, while also kinda validating their own grief. When she starts digging in to this though, bad shit starts happening, that's all ill say. Tw for animal death. Drugs get involved. I am not sure what else to say except this is a REALLY immersive story that keeps you thinking and the last book rocked my absolute shit. Category is young adult thriller.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - I wont spend too much time talking about this one, because its popular (or at least it was) on tumblr. American girl goes to college (I think) in France, makes friends, falls in love with the school's heartthrob. You dont have to reach out, but if you want to you can + ill go a bit more in depth. MWAH. Very feel good fluffy romance. Same can be said for the whole series. Love it. Category is contemporary young adult.

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch - This is the book I shamefully remember the least about (my favorite is love and luck). Because of this, I am sorry to say but I am ripping the description from GR. Maybe we can buddy read it if you wanna 👀. Lina is spending the summer in Tuscany, but she isn’t in the mood for Italy’s famous sunshine and fairy-tale landscape. She’s only there because it was her mother’s dying wish that she get to know her father. But what kind of father isn’t around for sixteen years? All Lina wants to do is go back home. But then she is given a journal that her mom had kept when she lived in Italy. Suddenly Lina’s uncovering a magical world of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries. A world that inspires her, along with the ever-so-charming Ren, to follow in her mother’s footsteps and unearth a secret that has been kept for far too long. It’s a secret that will change everything she knew about her mother, her father —and even herself. MAN even I dont remember the secret... buddy read fr??? Category is contemporary young adult.

Rosemarked by Livia Blackburne - I just recently read this duology, its low fantasy imo. The book starts off with the mc Zivah earning her rite as a high healer. She passes the test, and the same day a troop from the Empire comes in, infected with the rose plague. The rose plague is deadly, usually. With two outcomes: rosemarked and umbertouched. Coming out rosemarked is essentially a death sentence; you fight off the disease temporarily, but you can still infect people. The fever will come back to take your life. Umbertouched is the desired outcome; the marks stay but you cannot pass on or contract the disease again. The fever will not come back. Upon treating these soldiers, Zivah falls ill with the plague, and comes out rosemarked. Point A to point B she meets the li Dineas. Its a slowburn not enemies but not allies either to lovers. They invade the capitol, cannot remember why initially, but they end up Essentially starting a war. There is like no content for this book on here and its driving me up a wall. I so badly want someone to talk about this book with. Category is young adult fantasy.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo - Another.. semi popular one here on tumblr. So again I wont waste too much of your time with a description and just paste it from GR. Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling. I wish I wish with all my heart the original trilogy was as popular as the six of crows duology. This is a series dear to me, and another low fantasy novel, category young adult fantasy.

The Merciless by Danielle Vega - Okay. I dont know you, but Im going to guess this might not be one you consider regardless of what I say LMAO. This is a book ive always described as textually gorey, uncomfortable but not Too uncomfortable. Has religious themes. This book is about an exorcism on an outcast of a girl and the consequences of it. I do not know how to begin to describe this without going off the deep end about it. This is a strange series to read, chronology wise. Theyre all connected yes, but the first two books should be read in the order they were released. The third book is a prequel so it can be read before the first two if you want, or after the fourth. The fourth is the most disconnected though, only callbacks via short memories. This is the worst selling point on a book ever Im so sorry. You like horror? You into religious themes? Exorcisms? Torture? Mean girls, literally? Possibly cheesy writing even though I dont personally think so? Perfect series for you :). Category young adult horror.

ok so while most, if not all, the students at hexlore were raised supernatural, em wasn't 

emerson was actually born human and had a perfectly normal childhood up until around the age of 15 

for reasons she doesn't readily talk about, she was hexed by a very powerful witch with the lycanthropy curse 

her parents and siblings obviously didnt believe her, so when she transformed one night unexpectedly, they ended up thinking she was a wild wolf who had gotten into the house and killed her. they attacked her and she was left within an inch of her life before she could escape

she would have died that night if it weren't for pure luck that a travelling pack was passing through the wooded area where she had ended up collapsing. they stayed there with her for the night and healed her up, taking her in and initiating her into their pack. with nothing left to lose and a spirit as broken as hers, she accepted it and left with them. 

not only did she join a big pack, she joined a freaking strong one, and as the newest recruit she was the runt of the group. she felt more like a burden than an actual pack member, so she began to train in order to earn her place 

though they were a wandering pack, they'd stop in cities long enough for her and the other minors in the pack to be able to finish a solid school year, and in each new city, em would become a permanent fixture at their local gym. every day, she was there, working on getting stronger and more powerful and being able to prove herself. too swole to control bro

 all the bullshit she had gone through ignited something within her, something equal parts destructive and encouraging. her pain transformed itself into pure, unfiltered rage, which has become the staple of emerson's personality

Basically from the very beginning she’s been reckless. That kid who would jump from the top of the jungle bars and hang upside down on random railings. Always curious never really one to be hurt by bruises etc. Point is, she always picked herself up!

Grew up to two loving but kinda harsh parents (mum’s a nurse + dad works an office job)  + 2 twin brothers. It’s all going well until she’s about 14/15 and her parents become really strict on her because she’s failing in almost all her subjects.

This isn’t cause she isn’t smart or anything but she’s just lazy and unmotivated. Instead, she just spends most of her time exploring Seoul and climbing random buildings with her mates. Now this behaviour continues on and on, she stays out later and later (nb. She doesn’t do drugs/smoke/have sex ( lol she’s lowkey vulnerable and isn’t really that rebellious as she acts) , she only really drinks and shoplifts) Till one day when she’s 16 and she comes home late, she’s supposed to be babysitting her two brothers (who are 10) but she goes out instead.  her dad is at an office workparty (it’s around about Christmas) and her mum’s doing a night shift. There’s a firetruck and a crowd of people. She doesn’t even think about it, she just runs inside.  She runs up the stairs and screams for her brothers, she finds one of them unconscious in the bathroom, but she can’t find the other one. She takes him outside, but it’s already too late. Turns out her other brother managed to escape through a window. It’s only then that the pain kicks in & Sora passes out. (Turns out she has major burns all over her lower back)

Flashforward to a year later and her parents have basically disowned her and see her as the reason her younger bro died. She only really talks to her other younger sibling now & is an alcoholic. Lowkey she’s really emo, but instead of going out and having fun she just gets drunk by herself instead.

It’s then that her two best friends (COUGH THIS IS TOTALLY OPEN TO PLOTTING PLS) give her an intervention and tell her to make something of herself and afterwards she realises she can’t keep living her life like this. So, after seeing a counciller about her PTSD + grief and gaining JUST about good enough grades she decides to confront her past and become a firefighter to save lives like she couldn’t save her brothers but she’s lowkey still angry emo + bitter + still suffers from seeing images of her bro :( Training is tough but after 7 months she finally passes and she moves out of her parents house

so for so long hanbin just watched their mother and sister being treated so terribly by this monster ( then patching up their wounds at night, when the man of the house was either out or asleep ) n they hated going home n hated everything abt their situation

the only thing that got them through the day was dance, which they discovered they had a talent for as early as the age of 7. the teachers at school noted their talent straightaway n altho they knew they didnt hav enough money to actually pursue it, they took it upon themselves to enroll hanbin in a small dance studio, where they were free to practice whenever theyd like

it was around this time tht they slowly became enamored wt the idea of becoming an idol; girl groups dances were so fun n they imagined living a much, much better life than the one they had now, mayb even providing a better life for their mom n sister

so theyd sent sm ent an audition video when they were 14 n voila 

theyd gotten accepted !!!! n were now officially a trainee !!!

( when theyd told their family their mom n sister were elated ,, their dad, tho initially violently opposed to the idea, stepped aside n laughed, saying they wouldnt last a month. what a support )

the training period lasted for 4 and a half years; during this time hanbin began to discover more about themselves n who they were. they began identifying as a demiboy n using they/them pronouns when they were 18, nd of course only those close to them knew, but generally theyd become more expressive ... daresay, happy ??

since then hanbin had been diagnosed with depression n ptsd n was claimed ‘ mentally unfit to become an idol ‘, tho bc they had been trained so properly n were still one of the most talented dancers out there sm decided to keep them on ... as a choreographer

uhhhh going under the cut bc it’s long (I’m very bitter about nd/rv3 & it’s the first thing that came to mind so I’m sorry omg)

ALSO this does contain nd/rv3 spoilers, so if you wanna avoid those then don’t read!! also there’s some mentions & screenshots of gross nsfw text & an incest mention so look out for that shit too.

there wasn’t a topic given, so I’m gonna assume it’s cool for me to scream about how much I hate nd/rv3. I’ll bring up other points besides the ending, because I know that’s the ONE point people all complain about.

so, In my opinion, nd/rv3 is the worst dr game. it’s predictable, it’s written badly, and the amount of unnecessary fan service & other gross shit is ridiculous.

the game stays true to the typical dr murder setups, save for chapter one. it has the blunt force trauma murder, ch3 is a double murder as always, ch4 is the “muscle-y character” dying, and ch5 has the “important info missing from the monokuma file / unsolvable murder” setup.

my point with this is: it’s predictable.

the thing I loved about danganronpa games was the unpredictability, and v3 was the complete opposite. I was never on the edge of my seat throughout my watch of the game. everything happened like I figured it would.

a HUGE contributor to this factor was the talent labs. when a character’s talent lab was unlocked, you knew they would play a crucial role in the upcoming murder. it’s like a huge, glowing sign that says “hey! x & x are gonna die this chapter!”

they did the same thing in the dr3 anime. when a character got a huge backstory/exposition dump, you knew they were going to die. (seiko is the big example)

when ch2 started focusing on kirumi so, so, soooo much I knew she was going to be involved in the case. once ryotara was revealed as the victim, I instantly knew she would be the killer. so on, and so forth for the other chapters.

chapter three as a whole was predictable. it’s so obvious that korekiyo’s the killer like, 5 minutes into the investigation?

(also side note this sickle under the cloth bullshit is impossible because the fucking dog would FALL OVER. also the incest shit korekiyo is ducking digesting fuck you nd/rv3)

the twists in the game are bullshit, not to mention chapter 5 COMPLETELY goes against the danganronpa rules set forth in the other games. since they’re all technically part of the same timeline, they should all abide by the same rules, right?

one of the big rules set forth, is the use of an accomplice. the rules state that accomplices to murder won’t graduate with the killer if the killer isn’t found guilty- but if the killer IS found guilty, they aren’t executed either. it sounds pretty simple, in theory.

but then nd/rv3 chapter 5 comes in. in the chapter, maki shoots ouma with a poisoned arrow. this poison begins to kill him slowly. instead of letting the poison kill him, ouma works with another character: Kaito.

ouma and Kaito work together to make sure that ouma’s cause of death isn’t the poison. by working together, they fake a video of Kaito getting crushed in a press (because ouma wants to create an unsolvable murder)

(he doesn’t actually die, it’s a fake out, but that leads to more bullshit)

the person that came up with the ENTIRE PLAN was OUMA. Kaito just did what he said. so, in this case, Kaito is an accomplice, and ouma is the killer. This is shown in the first FUCKING game with ch3. Celes comes up with a plan, and Yamada does EXACTLY what she says. Therefore, Yamada is referred to as an accomplice, instead of a killer (as he did kill someone).

(bc u kno. we gave this guy a dramatic illness so we can’t just have him get killed BY someone it’s gotta be dramatic. I’m not saying if Kaito died of his illness during a murder attempt it would’ve worked for a better plot twist, and setup for the characters to solve, but-)

my other big issues with this game aside from the ending are the bullshit amounts of “fan service” and other gross shit:

there’s a bunch more but the majority of them are fucking terrible. I don’t care about the fact that these were apparently done by a different writer, and I don’t care about the fact that they’re optional. they’re still in the fucking game, and they’re all disgusting.

I get the game has an M rating, but this shit is still disgusting. stuff like this even carries over to free time events, notably Angie’s:

this shit is gross, and it’s spread throughout the game. most of it IS optional, and you can avoid it, but it’s still there.

it ruins the quality of the games, and it’s ABSOLUTELY unnecessary. these things don’t further the plot or add to the character’s development arc’s. it’s bullshit.
