Also sorry if the first panel is unclear. Adeleine isn't trying to clumsily remove the visor, she's reaching in to touch his face to let him know she's there, as Noir is blind and deaf in this particular form, outside of what information the petals take in and transmit to him. They can't recognize qualities of the voice, ie, that it is his beloved little sister, simply that "some" voice is talking to him. They are also what transmits his "voice" (more like a droll, ghosty monotone) outwards.

Anyway, I was revisiting some of my favorite fairy tales, including HC Andersen's "The Snow Queen" (where the title originates) when I realized just how well parts of that story fit Adeleine and Noir.

In seconds, I'd written up a fresh script and was drawing this. It's a little rushed/uneven because I pushed myself to finish as quick as possible so that this could be my official last art post before my surgery tomorrow, figuring it was a good note to leave things on.

Call it ~fairy tale magic~ (although I imagine this is set sometime AFTER the Dark Matter Trilogy rather than during. Perhaps after Zero's "favorite tool" was discovered to be broken beyond repair and with Zero itself destroyed, 02 and the rest of the Dark Matter cut him off from the hive and left him to starve to death in the ruins of Shiver Star, where Adeleine eventually discovers him after revisiting her journey with the others) ...but at least we've got x1 Noir saved now!

Because I know you folks care about lore, drone-type or unhatched Dark Matter "feed" off energy provided from the Hive Queen and they will burn in the light without their queen's protection.

Main game Shiver Star is actually MANY years removed from the Shiver Star Adeleine and Noir grew up on. (Adeleine fell through a dimensional rift halfway off planet and wound up on Popstar YEARS later than she left. It's a...complicated...story I'll tell later, while Noir has been Dark Matter for much longer than it seems) So, in addition to there being no more people there, there is significantly less of the kind of light that harms Dark Matter. (Is it, in fact, DUE to the lack of living creatures on the planet?? Dun-dun-dun?!)

Speaking of lore: "Wasn't there a literal parasite inside this version of Noir?? Like, an eyeball in his chest? Is that just gone now?"

Fufufu...

It is not GONE, for no one goes through life without some consequences. Though it was starved into hibernation and made further dormant by ~the healing power of love~ Noir does retain some piece of Dark Matter living inside him. A creature inside that grows stronger feeding off his negative emotions. 

He will simply have to learn to control it instead of giving in.

...Just like the rest of us humans. ^_-

Happy Bug Day ;; Here's what bug Hank thinks of when he sees his fellow Avengers.

[ Diabolical Ironclad Beetle;; An extremely rare beetle whos shell is So Tough and So Hard it literally cannot be crushed with a boot. In fact their armor is so strong that it needs to be Drilled Through in order to study the bug below. (no beetles are harmed in this prosses) ]

[ Mason Wasp ;; A wasp with a potent sting, they will only sting if provoked! These wasps serve as important natural pest controllers, often keeping the population of plant destroying bugs in check. ]

[ Tigar Swallowtail Butterfly ;; The national bug and while solitary at times, they are known to seek out water spots for others of its kind and partake with them! ]

[ Buck Moth ;; Found all over oak forests, these moths get their name from their fly season lining up with the hunting season for deer. While the moths themselves are peaceful their caterpillars have many sharp points each able to causing a variety of discomforts. ]

By the transitive nature of adoptive/found families, that IS how it works Lucci, hate to break it to you. Dragon would be very confused about how he ended up with so many kids.

I feel like Ace and Sabo would be down for chaos and what better way to lightly bully the newly found Monkey D. Lucci than pulling his entire team of trained assassins into their found family? And when Lucci finds out they were raised by mountain bandits he's shocked to find out Dadan is a surprisingly normal and sane woman for having to put up with the ASL trio.

Once the Straw Hats got over the shock, they absolutely treat CP9 the same way they treat the (non-Vinsmoke) siblings of crew members. Franky, at the very least, would absolutely decide it's SUPER that they're related even closer now.

Also, I think Paulie would laugh almost as hard as Jabra when he finds out. Right up until someone (Iceburg) points out that staying with Lucci would mean HE gets pulled into that too.

honestly i love the idea of lucci and robin being ds. it would be so fucking funny. (i also still call bullshit that sabo isn't one. like. the shit he gets into...)

Taking a character who, afaik up until that point was very much a science guy, divorcing him, john cartering him, and turning him into a sword-and-sorcery type who’s dating a princess is SO funny to me. We need to change genres for random characters more.

Last Line Tag Game

Alrighty! It's been a hot minute since i did one of these but luckily I've actually got a wip i can use for this! (You'd be surprised at how infrequently that's the case 😅.) Thanks for the tag, @erinsworld ! I hope you're, uh... Ready for a rarepair fic for a completely different fandom 😂

The last* Line--written for chapter 2 of "these hands had to let it go free and--(This Love came back to me)":

'This man is still all of those past versions of himself that you knew so well; but now, he's also all the past versions of himself that you never got to know. (And when he breathes your name, it sounds the same way it always did.) "Beca." "...Jesse."'

*-yeah so this is actually the last several lines cause. Well. You can see why a single word/pair of names doesn't exactly make for a compelling final line without, ya know, context. So. Context.

For a more in-depth discussion of what this fic is (vaguely) about, + some relevant art, check out this post i made announcing chapter 1! But the tl;Dr is that this is a Pitch Perfect fanfic exploring the nature of love, relationships, and what "inevitable" really means... Through the lense of a rarepair 😅. And not only that, it is to date the longest (single story) fic I've ever written (currently clocking in at 20,200 words total between both chapters--and im nowhere close to finishing chapter 2) as well as, quite possibly, the queerest fic I've written in terms of themes (the Brady verse was queer by the nature of it centering around a gay couple and their children, plus the handful of other queer relationships around them, but it's more of a family narrative than it is a truly queer one; in contrast the ideas on love explored in this fic are very queer, as are... Just about every character i mention, no matter what canon says about them). It's a doozy! I'm quite proud of it so far tho 😁.

Things that exist outside of the mainline comics that accidentally get used as canon

1. The J brand on Jason’s face

This is specifically from the Arkham-verse, where Joker imprisoned, tortured, and branded Jason. While Arkham Knight only hints at what was done, the associated comics that give us more information about what led up to the events of the game show just how bad it was. That Jason is a broken man and never died.

Also Arkham-verse Joker is the worst. I am not going to be the one to tell you what that that version of Jason discovered he did when right before getting captured. You need to look that up.

2. The crowbar scar on the left side of the face

This was only seen in the Gotham Knights game and associated comics. It’s also media where it states the Lazarus Pits brought him back to life - in most mainline comic runs, that can’t happen unless the person was in the process of dying or had died like a minute ago before getting dipped.

To be honest with you, I like this one. In Red Hood and the Outlaws (2016), Jason tells Artemis he’s upset the Pit got rid of his scars. So, maybe this can be a treat for him.

3. Joker Junior

This was depicted in Batman: Beyond which is in the same universe as The Batman: The Animated Series. This is not in the mainline comics. I also want to point out that Tim from the animated series was basically given Jason’s backstory.

Seeing this used as canon actually enrages me for some reason.

mobian headcanons ive picked up from friends and others !!!

different species of mobians have different average heights!! there are outliers of course, but generally larger earth animal types tend to be taller while smaller ones tend to be shorter (for example, jackals would be taller than hedgehogs, which are kinda short in general)

all mobians are born from eggs like chao! no one rly knows how they appear, but they tend to appear when someone desires a child, though sometimes they just appear randomly (i hc that sonic in the mainline 'verse was one of the random eggs and he just kinda existed after that with no parental figures LOL). because theyre born from eggs, there is the possibility that a mobian may have a child that is a different species from their own and thats completely normal!

chao can eventually evolve into mobians given the right circumstances but this is more rare than a mobian just being born from an egg

mobians still exhibit animal-like behaviors such as emoting with their ears/tails, snarling/baring teeth, grooming, making certain animal-like noises, etc

mobians started as one similar-looking species but gradually evolved new subspecies resembling different animals over time. now theres a ton of variation in what a mobian can look like!

there are humans that live on mobius, as mobius is a large planet; they started as space travelers that came to the planet at first, but now there are many generations worth of humans that were born on mobius. there are also many human settlements such as those found in spagonia and the like!

every mobian has the potential to harness chaos energy and go super, but very few of them know how to tap into that ability, so its kind of rare when it happens

I've cooked with some people about how close the Avengers are and how much they absolutely care for and love each other, and one side effect of that is when I apply that Knowledge to my mainline verse where Hank is undergoing an ongoing recovery and therapy for his DID and BP, and so far many writers have put forward that their respective Avenger would welcome him back with joy that he's seeking recovery. Which is nice! That's Nice!

It also led me to think on it emotionally though.

Imagine for a moment if you will; Being Hank in this situation. It doesn't have to be as crazy but just, imagine hurting your closest friends, the people who are almost family, More then Family more then any other bond you've Ever Had with other people. You hurt ALL of them, make them worry for you, mourn you and even when you come back some part of you keeps stressing them and worrying them and your mental health just keeps getting Worse and you make them Watch.

Any Friend group would be valid in kicking you aside; in tossing you out and cutting that line but the Avengers DIDN'T. More then that the idea that when he finally DOES come around to seek help and treatment so many of them would be extending the hand and like-

Nicktoons Unite C-Team!

The Unite crew only gets bigger as more dimensions get mapped out by Jimmy and friends.

WARNING: I will be talking about these characters as if you already know each of their story's.

Rudy Tabootie: He is only limited by his imagination with the magic chalk. I can see him being a trailblazer of the nick-verse, Rudy's magic chalk allows him to traverse other worlds where he eventually finds the other Nick heroes in their base on Volcano Island.

Tak: Given how Tak appeared in two of the four mainline games I think it is fair for him to have a spot in the expanded team. He is a powerful shaman with connections to the Juju. I can see him as a stand in for Timmy when he is not around. Causing some tension since Tak is not as limited when it comes to offense with his magical abilities, like Timmy is with his fairies.

Korra: Why her instead of Aang? Given the story of ATLA is mostly self-contained with not much room for the story to detour into dimension hopping shenanigans, I think Korra would be a better fit for the team. I believe it adds to her personal growth as she would see defending other worlds as a way to extend her duty as the Avatar.

Miko Kubota: The most recent nick toon to be added to the team. Miko's story is left ambiguous due to Glitch Techs cancellation, but the few context clues we do have points to her being a human infused with glitch powers. I can see her being on the run from her former employers at Hinobi and stealing some of their tech to travel dimensions and needs the Unite team for protection.
