Story idea: Standard superhero universe and all. Each city has at least one hero and many of them are trained by older heroes.

Now, one apprentice (technically, cause they're older now) was found by his mentor randomly and they sort of made it work even though the sidekick didn't tell his mentor his identity or living status.

Eventually the mentor finds out that living situation is crappy and promptly scoops their apprentice out it and ends up adopting them. They do eventually have parent-and-kid relationship.

Fast forward, years later, and something happened. Maybe the sidekick makes a bad decision and the mentor reacts poorly, maybe a villain tries mind-controlling either, maybe the mentor hides something from his kid and the kid finds out.

Either way, the kid doesn't trust his dad anymore. He can't. The mentor screws up.

The former sidekick runs away. Returns to his low roots by running across the country, still fighting villains and stopping muggings and helping street people.

But now he returns to his roots also in the sense of living low and homeless. He snatches from dumpsters. He works odd-jobs now and then. He hobos-it on train cars. He joins street brawls and chills at the club without getting drunk. He stops trusting people. He becomes more chaotic. He returns to his street ways. He even nabs an abandoned car for a while and uses it. He hides. He cuts ties with anyone who could rat him out to his... dad.

And the mentor?

He knows he screwed up. He knows this is all his fault. He lost his kid. His apprentice, his son, has went up and disappeared. For a while he couldn't care, was too angry, but now the house is too quiet and patrols seem darker.

And he can't find any sign of his apprentice, because unbeknownst to him, his son took a different name for his cross-country shenanigans. He can't find any sign anywhere. He is sick with worry, ill with guilt. He knows he screwed it and he needs to apologize, to bring the little shit home.

Eventually, maybe another hero finds out and tells. Maybe the mentor sees footage and recognizes his kid. Maybe an informat tells him.

So he goes on the hunt to bring his kid home.

The former(?) apprentice? He's terrified when he realizes that his adoptive dad is on his trail. He runs, hides, covers his tracks, avoids evades.

The mentor is heartbroken because he knows it's his fault. They play this game for months, maybe even years.

Eventually maybe the mentor comes in the right time to help with a villain and in the process nabs his kid. Maybe the kid can't run because of exhaustion or injury, maybe the mentor finally corners him.

Whatever, the mentor finally, finally catches him and shoots off to home.

He lost his adoptive son once and he's not losing him again.

He knows it's his fault.

He will apologize.

He will gain his kid's trust like he did when they first met.

He will bring him home.

He will heal their bond.

He will make it right.

Another Sibling Danny and Jason idea!!

"Are you Jason Peter Todd?!" demanded a deep and commanding tone from the strange glowing being in front of them.

All the Bats stiffened and tensed, no doubt gearing up for a fight against the being that somehow knew Red Hood's full name.

Jason, Red Hood, decided to put on a brave front despite no doubt cursing in his head and wondering how the heck did this thing know his full freaking name.

"Whose asking." he snarled out, his hands twitching for his gun when the huge glowing knight with purple flames coming out of his helmet and cape, who was riding on a nightmare looking horse while they all had been in the cave going over tonight's patrol.

The Knight didn't seemed bothered by his response nor did he even seem to care or flinch when Batman made his own demand on 'Why was he there and who was he' or when Damian unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards him. Instead the strange glowing Knight reached to it side and pulled out... A glowing scroll? Huh. (Also he completely unnerved everyone in the room when the Knight didn't even react when Batman had tossed a Baterang when he reached for his side)

The Knight opened the scroll and spoke clearly with purpose.

"Jason Peter Todd,

You are hereby invited as a special guest of honor to the crowning of our future King of the Infinite Realms.

Daniel Phantom, once Daniel Jackson Fenton, and once Daniel Austen Todd.

Prince of the Infinite Realms, the Keeper of Balance, The Peacekeeping Halfa, the Defeater of the Tyrant King Pariah Dark, The Great One, Youngest of the Ancients, Ancient of Space, The Bridge between Life and Death.

You, the half-brother of our King, have been given the highest of honors for your past actions and will be given housing and food in the Realms and Phantom's Keep, for the week long event. Personal servants and attendants will be at your disposal and a seamstress will be on hand to tailor make your attire for the Coronation.

After all, if you hadn't gotten young Daniel away from your father that night all those years ago, we would never had gained our Prince nor be free from our once Tyrant King.

Jason felt like he couldn't breath as Fright Knight? Rolled up the scroll, pulled a letter from his side, and held out the two items for him to take.

getting emotional over footage of an amateur scuba diver interacting with a coelacanth. they are hunted by large deepwater predators, and here comes a large creature bearing the brightest lights it's ever seen, making strange noises, but it does not shy away. it hovers, calmly, as the diver reaches out and trails a hand down its back. im strongly against the anthropomorphizing of real life animals but the stupid emotional part of me loudly insists this is because it recognizes us, the alternating movements of its four paired limbs matching the diver's four paired limbs, & it is thinking, "hello, cousins, we missed you these 66 million years, it's so good to see you again. welcome back, welcome home."

Soulmate Across the Multiverse

A DPxDC soulmate au idea

So DCverse is a soulmate world (pick any soulmate way btw, words, touch, drawings on the skin, can't see color(s) until they see or touch them, etc etc)

DPverse doesn't.

Meaning Danny wasn't born with a soulmark BUT he gets one after becoming a halfa because he is now connected to the Infinite Realms.

SO its during another one of Vlad's schemes, he's popping into different worlds and stealing things or something like that (basically like that one ep where Danny chases Vlad through the timeline after he stole Frostbite's map)

During the chase they pop out into the DCverse in one of the hero cities (pick any, not picky on which) and their fight is getting a bit out of hand (Vlad's fault, he's using the stuff he's been stealing, and Danny is doing his best to getting innocent people from getting hurt)

ANYWAYS during the fight, one of the cities hero's come to try to help/find out whats going on when Danny is hit by Vlad and gets tossed at them. The moment they either touch or Danny/Soulmate says something to the other, Danny feels the odd mark on him burn up and is MEGA confused on whats going on but decides to do what he does best.

Ignore it for now. He'd figure it out later he still needs to stop Vlad.

He apologizes to the other hero and gets back into his fight, missing the look of complete smitten awe/shock said hero had on their face.

i won't give up

if i may be sappy for a moment... 2024 has become one of the best years of my life completely unexpectedly, and i owe so much of that to dan and phil. i'm not the type of person who makes spontaneous decisions even if i know they would make me happy or improve my life, but something made me impulsively buy a ticket to tit and that decision was life changing. it opened up a whole world of possibilities for me; if i can drop everything and travel hours by myself via train to go see a fun show, what else can i do with my life? why have i spent so many years trapped in a fog of apathy, afraid of everything that could bring me joy? and on that note, why have i been so embarrassed by the things that make me happy?

sometimes i feel like my teenage years and early 20s were completely stolen by mental illness, but being able to earnestly enjoy something as silly as two gay british youtubers from my childhood has brought me back so much of the carefree joy from that time that i thought i'd never get to feel again. and that's not even mentioning the wonderful people i've either become friends with or gotten closer with because of dan and phil. i'm so thankful for this community because it allowed me to discover parts of myself i thought were long dead. thank you to every single one of you who have made my 2024 so memorable 🧡

anyway... in honor of embracing the cringe, i decided to close the year out with a sappy gif set inspired by those old school arial font lyric edits of the 2010s!
