Over the past few months I've been doing illustrations of LB6 characters in preparation for the big release with my master OC. It was basically an excuse to force me to attempt different designs/poses but the whole experience was pretty fun even if I specifically have no desire to draw Morgan (deceptively unpleasant outfit to draw) and Melusine (looking for art references was such a pain) again. Also bonus doodles I did for when Heian Kyo got released

There are honestly two core reasons for why I hate LB6, but I'll add another one.

Also this is long so I'm adding a cut to be nice to people who don't want to read this.

I am a purist.

I love Arthuriana, and I'll admit that I take it seriously. So it makes me have a sort of love/hate relationship with Nasu's version of Camelot. While on the one hand he'll bother to look into older sources to give the knights the powers they were supposed to have and has such fun as Time Traveling Romans, on the other hand he wants to make Camelot a Generic Fantasy complete with a Demon King. And boy it irks my pickle.

There is literally no source that names Vortigern as some enemy of Arthurs, and the dude CERTAINLY has no relationship with Uther or his actual brother Ambrosius Aurelianus. And the fact that it keeps doing this, and having him be the White Dragon as well as a fairy now and somehow an inhabitant of the world of dreams and now the avatar of death etc etc just makes me want to roll my eyes.

Making Morgan Uther's daughter destroys and cheapens her motives, making it all around her 'purpose' rather than anything actually interesting. Also Morgan is now everyone's mom. Lancelot's included because I guess Nasu just wasn't feeling up to adding the Lady of the Lake. And we needed to have Nasu and her multiple personalities because that was necessary I guess.

I hate just about every bit of lore that Nasu introduced in LB 6 around Camelot. Particularly Vortigern and Morgan.

And Melusine's entire myth is all but ignored because apparently we need to make the Red and White Dragons the same for...reasons

2. I don't care what happens to this world.

The thing that the LostBelts rely on more than anything else is that I feel bad about what's happening. I feel sad for the people there and their lost worlds. While I usually can drum up a lot of pity for the people, Fairy Britain is the only one that I actively want to crash and burn.

I actively want the death of Morgan and the fairy knights. And no, I don't feel bad for Morgan. If anything I find Morgan the most creepy of the LB kings because she's clever. She's used the memories she got well, and added the spirit origins of the actual knights to her fae in hopes of fooling the world into keeping her version of things going, making a sick version of Camelot that instead of protecting humanity services to aid in their being devoured to extinction, and even, in her own plans, wiping out the fae of Avalon and the PHH. All because she has to fulfill her purpose. If she was a villain, she'd be amazing, but the fact that the narrative tries to make me sympathize...yeah...

The closest to being sympathetic is Barghest, but she just strikes me as dumb to be shocked when the fae are eating humans when it's been established that that's what they do here.

I don't sympathize with entities that would eat me, and I think that's the overall issue I have. I don't sympathize because I can't.

3. Misc.

Mash getting amnesia and having to be linked to Galahad...why? Just why? I can't say I care if she has amnesia and gets married, but poor Galahad.

I will never forgive Nasu for promising me Oberon and giving me Vortigern. I was ready to WHALE for that man. His stupid void dust valentine was appropriate

Tumblr is a functional site, which doesnt delete part 2 of a kokomi ask, then spit out pt 2 of a ba'al ask from weeks ago. What i meant to say is: Kokomi's gameplay role as a stall healer synergises with her narrative role as a guerilla resistance leader. In the analogy, your party is the resistance, and 2x mr maguu is the shogun. I respect the shift away from crit, and towards diverse playstyles and ludonarrative resonance. It inspired me to 10-roll for her. Once. She came in at 7. Actual 4*

The opposite of Kokomi would be bennett, a mega broken character who is supposed to be alone and pathetic within the story. Aside from his outright ludonarrative dissonance, most characters don't really have a gameplay role which references their narrative role, so Koko got me excited. A pity it was probably accidental and after her banner sales (lol) it will never happen again. Im surprised they tried to shift from crit in the first place considering they designed crit meta to sell BP.

Even setting aside that Kokomi doesn't fit with the meta Genshin already hammered itself into, she was going to be hard-presssed to make any decent sales anyway when a very good hydro catalyst healer was already available for free, is likely already built because most players got her in Mondstadt, has arguably a more useful Burst for her role... and got a cute costume recently too. It's not like Qiqi and Jean are bad healers either and Kokomi doesn't exactly out-heal Barbara the way Ayaka out-damages Kaeya.

I think Genshin is going to be struggling to sell straight-up healers in general because it's just hard to powercreep them, unless they decide to add a status effect system and include healers that can remove or bypass them or something. Characters only have so much HP to heal, and when the freebie can fully heal your party to 100% pretty easily where do you even go from there?

Unfortunately, unless Genshin changes things so that stall becomes more viable, we'll be stuck in Big Number Hell for awhile. I was wondering how they might do that - I considered multiple shields on an enemy, enemies that can remove ally buffs/apply debuffs, enemies with specific weakpoints that require the use of bows or specific timing, etc.

Haha, re; characters not having skillsets that match their narrative roles... that's twofold in that a lot of characters have jobs that are pretty mundane (Diona is a barkeep, Xiangling is a chef, Barbara and Rosaria are nuns the Qixing are politicians...) and that Genshin's combat system just doesn't allow for much variation. Seriously, you are: DPS, Healer, Shield, Damage Support, Recharge support, Reaction Support, Crowd Control or a mix of two, two or three types of unique attacks plus some elemental flavour, and that's it. There's not much space to shake things up, especially when you can’t even unlock a lot of new abilities for a character.

Typical RPGs just have more options because characters aren't generally so limited thanks to the turn-based structure (i.e. they don't need to react to things instantly and you have time to set up a longer move), and their much less limited movepools. Nuns would likely have a focus on holy magic, Strategist, Chef and Alchemist could be their own class, etc.

Unless Genshin shakes things up, I think they're going to run out of new things to add to characters except bigger stats very soon, which is a real shame.

Fairies can be born several ways, such as being fallen gods, grudges of the dead, or reborn human rumor, but the only true genuine fairies are born from the inner sea of the planet (aka Reverse Side of the World aka Avalon).

Fairies like this are known as Great Mothers or Great Fathers and can be thought of as bunrei (what GO NA translates as Divided Spirit) of the planet’s soul. If you don’t know what a bunrei is, it’s a piece of a divinity broken off and given its own conscious, so they both are and are not that divinity. Tamamo is a bunrei of Amaterasu. Jesus can be thought of as a bunrei of God.

Vivian is an example of a Great Mother type fairy.

Morgan has inherited Vivian’s authority (lower case authority, not capital A Authority that Nasu uses for gods’ powers), which is why she is considered a fairy.

Da Vinci compares them to True Ancestors.

Great Mothers/Fathers are about on the scope of anthropomorphized nature divinities (gods born from humans worshiping parts of nature, like the Babylonian gods), but unlike those gods they are not bound by human rules.

Within the Lostbelt, Great Mothers/Fathers who come to the surface of the world are known as Sub-Bells. Their essence reshapes the world around them, claiming different parts of Britain as their territory. And just by being present they increase their number of terminals, aka offspring, over time.

Woke up to all the new F/GO news and I think all the monster-y bits in Fairy Knight Lancelot/Melusine’s final form are extremely cool, but holy shit she needs some better clothes, so alas the poor girl seems to be in the same kind of hell that Abby’s ascensions are in. It’s fun that her gameplay is all fucky and switches NPs though. Also, Oberon’s animations are out now as he’s apparently an NPC Servant in the new chapters, and boy howdy. Apparently he changes his classes when he’s used as an NPC, so nope, we don’t know what his real class is yet. Also also, I am shocked that I haven’t seen anyoneon my dashboard talk about the new bootleg Medb, whose name “Knocknarea” is apparently the same name as the mountain that Medb’s grave is supposed to be on.
