Home Office rows back on salary threshold for family visa

The Home Office has rowed back on plans to hike the salary needed to bring family members to the UK to £38,700 next spring.

The increase - from the current level of £18,600 - was announced earlier this month as part of a plan to lower legal migration.

But the new threshold will initially be set at £29,000, with further increases at unspecified dates thereafter.

Gaza ceasefire deal to take effect on 19 January 

Israel and Hamas have agreed a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal following 15 months of war. The agreement would come into effect on Sunday so long as it was approved by the Israeli cabinet, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said. US President Joe Biden said it would "halt the fighting in Gaza, surge much needed-humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians, and reunite the hostages with their families.” Palestinians in Gaza and Israeli hostages' families celebrated the news, which will see 33 of the almost 100 hostages held by Hamas exchanged for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails over the first six-week phase of the ceasefire.

The FBI says an Islamic State group flag was found inside the vehicle he was driving, while two improvised explosive devices were found nearby. FBI assistant special agent Alethea Duncan said the agency did not believe Jabbar was "solely responsible" and were investigating the incident as an "act of terrorism".

Jabbar was born in Texas and previously served in the US Army. He also appears to have worked in real estate, holding a license that expired in 2021. He had a criminal record, relating to traffic offences and theft.

Africans Excited but Nervous Ahead of Trump’s 2nd Term

I’m not sure how I feel about chemtrails.

I’m not sure how I feel about chemtrails. The fact that they did something similar in the 50’s and 60’s gives me great pause. Maybe I’ve never paid close attention to the sky before but I’ve seen some really weird things recently.

And in 1950, San Francisco was sprayed with a chemical agent from a ship to gauge the effects of a bioweapon attack on a populated area.
