Today had been a good day. The restoration had finished building a bridge that would help with delivering supplies to smaller town and villages in need. And in order to celebrate, Ember and a few others had gone out to get drinks. And so she found herself, slightly buzzed, walking home alone after the party. Slipping into a stupor, Ember's foot had collided with an uneven part of the sidewalk, causing her to fall forward and scrape her knee.

"Ah, fuck..." She muttered, and pushed herself to sit on her butt, raising her injured knee to her chest. She couldn't feel it now, but she knew she'd be sore in the morning. Leaning back til her head was resting on the wall of a building, she sat here with her eye closed only for a second, when her quills started to prickle beneath her winter jacket. She was immediately sobered up; eyes shot open and darting to where she had come from. A figure, beneath a street light. A normal sight, but some primal part of Ember's brain disagreed. Keeping her eye on the stranger, she slowly stood back up, popped the collar of her jacket, and started limping up the hill.

'Just a couple more blocks', she mentally told herself, 'You can do it. Keep calm. It's just the alcohol making you paranoid.'
