[Artwork and descriptions of various types (OP's tag says "subspecies") of the Arcanine pokemon. I'm transcribing the text on the images, which hopefully will give enough of the gist of what they look like; transcription follows.]

ARCANIDAE

Arcanis kantos kantos TEMPERATE The most widely distributed and approachable species, it is the ancestor to domestic Arcanine and has the most 'classic' characteristics. A. kantos are versatile and easily fill the niche of apex predator in many climates. Prevalent ability: Intimidate

Arcanis rufus SOUTHERN Ranging from desert to tropics, large ears are essential for thermoregulation. Thin coats and camouflaging heavy striping are adapted for living in the jungle and desert thicket. Prevalent ability: Flash Fire

Arcanis kantos familiaris STANDARD SHOW Yellow colour mimics a Shiny's and adds sharp contrast to crisp black stripes. Full mane and feathering, domed head, and pronounced stop are desirable. Legs are straight, small pricked ears, and the body has square proportions. Bulk and loose skin and personality. Prevalent abilities: Intimidate / Flash Fire

Arcanis kantos familiaris BATTLE BRED Redder colouring is seen as more intimidating. Excess fur is minimal so nothing can be easily grabbed onto, ears and tail may be cropped for these reasons but the practice is banned in the Pokemon League. Body is compact and muscular. Prevalent ability: Intimidate / Flash Fire

Arcanis borealis TUNDRA To preserve heat, all extremities are compacted. Wide paws help for traction in snow and a very thick cream or white coat has few stripes. Fur may darken some in summer months. Prevalent ability: Intimidate

Seviilus nebulosa, Seviilus sparsus ISLAND DWELLING Exclusive to the Sevii Archipelago of Kanto and an example of island dwarfism, Seviilus was thought as proof of a close relation between Arcanidae and eevees, but this was coincidental. Adapted to dig for small prey, each coat blends into their respective island's landscape. Prevalent ability: Justified

Lutracanis maritimus AQUATIC? Webbed feet are a must in the water. Streamlined body has tight, but very dense and oily fur. White belly and dark back are underwater camouflage and marbled stripes resemble kelp. What is a Fire type doing in the water? Nature is weird. Prevalent ability: Intimidate

Pseudokantos pictus THE WEIRD NOT-QUITE RELATED ONE P. pictus is the rarest species and sole member of its genus that branched off before genus kantos, yet it has an uncanny semblance. They are specialised light-built sprinters and rely on sight. Prevalent ability: Justified

i’ve seen a lot of these circulating and wanted to give it my own shot considering i noticed many versions where lineart is kept the same and only colours change. so i wanted to explore more body variations that would be more “fit for function” in their habitats and a blurb explaining each choice.

except i was having too much fun and got carried away, so instead of a single species i made a family (i like to think gen 1 pokemon have existed longer)
