9. who are your self insert’s closest friends?
I was gonna say for anyone you'd like but since you wanted us to specify...maybe kingdom hearts :)?
Thank you for this, Paris!! Specifying a series rather than just a specific name is absolutely fine, hehe - since it's just the one question, I can answer it for all of my Kingdom Hearts self-inserts for you!~
(question source: "ask game: self-insert lore" by inserthaven)
9. who are your self-insert's closest friends? - So, Aria isn't really someone who makes particularly close friends, out of both being naturally fairly introverted and self-sufficient, and the fact she wields darkness putting her somewhat at odds with most others right off the bat, even though she's not evil. It takes some time for them to warm up to her, but she does eventually become friends with Terra and Ventus due to the amount of time she spends with them in the Land of Departure and the fact she helps them by siphoning away their leftover darkness remnants from Xehanort and Vanitas. Back in the age of fairytales, Aria's closest friend was her Nobody counterpart, Livi (who is an old friend of mine's self-insert).
Ves is a lot more of a friendly person, but she is also naturally more shy than Aria, so she again doesn't have too many particularly close friends to start with. She ends up working closely with Kairi at Radiant Garden and helping her a lot, so the two of them become pretty close friends, but she's pretty friendly with most of the main cast in all honesty. In the Daybreak AU where she is around as herself during the age of fairytales, Ves' best friends are Shiro (an OC made by the aforementioned old friend) and Strelitzia, though she also ends up becoming close with Ephemer, Skuld, Ventus and Lauriam.
Xiara has a very limited capacity for emotions, due to not only being a Nobody but also having no memories of her life before becoming a Nobody that she can use to emulate emotions. Therefore, whether she has the ability to make friends and be close with others is debatable. However, she tries to be as kind as she can be to the others, and spends most of her time trying to support Roxas and Xion since she recognises they are burdened by their important role. She also spends a lot of time "researching" (i.e. following around and writing down amusing things about) Werm, my friend @dragonsmooch's self-insert.
I hope that all these answers are alright!! Thank you very much for sending in this question, friend ^-^

On twitter there was an event for Terrariam Week, focusing on the relationship between Terra & Lauriam/Marluxia. I wrote for a few prompts, I had to cut it off at 3 but it was a lot of fun to write! Khux really made me care a lot about Lauriam so this really gave me an excuse to write him lol but anyway, I’ll post all the days’ entries here with the prompts that go with them. This is also posted on ao3; the link to ao3 will be in the notes of this post! I’ll also post the link to the terrariam week account in the notes.
You can also keep reading below.
⁂
Day 1: Meet-Cute
Lauriam stared down at his black cloak. He was sick of this thing.
The cloak was supposed to protect his heart from darkness. It was also a symbol of his status as a former member of Organization 13. It was a symbol of the person he became without his memories, turning against everything he was supposed to be. Guardian of Light turned Seeker of Darkness. Keyblade wielder turned assassin.
He felt like a traitor. He didn’t just turn against the original Organization, he turned against everything he used to stand for. He forgot about his sister, his friends, everything, and he was only now just starting to remember.
Well, he started to remember as Sora defeated him. His memories were still coming back. He remembered being a Dandelion, he remembered being a Union leader, he remembered Strelitzia…
Strelitzia…
He forgot about his own sister.
Lauriam laughed, a single tear falling down his face. It landed with a small splash on a flower below him, the flower just one of many surrounding him in this field. It was so similar to the one where he appeared after leaving Daybreak Town, where he started his search for Strelitzia.
He’d have to look for Elrena. Had she begun to remember? If not, he would have to try to help her. He owed that to her, for standing beside him for so long, even after they lost their memories.
A step crunching the flowers behind him broke Lauriam’s thoughts. He whirled around to see who it was.
Oh, Lauriam recognized that face. His hair was a different color, brown instead of white, but Lauriam was no fool. This was one of Xehanort’s many forms back again. Lauriam summoned his Keyblade in his hands. Would he never be able to escape him?
Xehanort stopped. He appeared confused. “You’re… Marluxia, right?
“It’s Lauriam now,” Lauriam corrected. “And I’ll thank you to remember that. You won’t get me to join your schemes anymore, Xehanort.”
“Xehanort?” He blinked, still confused. “No, no, Xehanort doesn’t have control over me anymore. I’m free now. My name is Terra.”
“Terra.” Lauriam kept his stance. Xehanort wasn’t above playing tricks. “And why should I trust you, ‘Terra’?”
“You don’t have to.” Terra held his hands up in front of him, palms out. “We’re not here to look for you. This is an accident.”
“Who’s ‘we’?” Lauriam’s grip on his Keyblade tightened. The Organization? “And what are you looking for, then?”
“Two of my friends are here with me.” Terra hesitated. “We’ve been searching different worlds for… Sora.”
Sora? There was a name Lauriam felt like he could trust now. Lauriam could still remember trying to turn the boy into a puppet. How ironic.
“Terra!”
Lauriam turned as he heard another voice call out to Terra. The person it belonged to…
Memories came flooding back. The blonde hair, the clothes he was wearing. Lauriam knew this person. Not from the Organization, but before.
“I asked the dwarves about him,” he told Terra without preamble. “They said no one’s seen him or heard anything about him. I guess Sora isn’t—“ He broke off, staring at Lauriam. “…Who are you?”
Lauriam knew him. Ventus, another former Union leader. Well, Ven wasn’t originally chosen for the role, but Lauriam wasn’t angry at him about it anymore. It wasn’t Ven’s fault he was used by Darkness.
“Hey, are you crying?” Ven asked.
Lauriam reached up to touch his cheek. It was wet. He was crying again. His heart must be overwhelmed, feeling so many emotions already when he wasn’t used to it anymore. “You’re the first… Nevermind. We’ve met before, but you must not remember me.” The Divine Rose disappeared from Lauriam’s hand. “My name is Lauriam. It’s good to see you again, Ven.”
“…Oh. I’m sorry.” Ven looked down at the ground. “You’re not the first friend I’ve met who I’ve forgotten. I can’t remember anything before I met Terra and Aqua…”
Terra put his hand on Ven’s shoulder. “Hey, it’s not your fault.”
“He’s right.” Lauriam smiled, though it hurt. Why did hearts make things so difficult? “I only just remembered myself. I’m hardly in a position to judge.”
He wasn't upset. Lauriam was just… disappointed. Not with Ven himself. But just as he started to remember again, he finally found another Union leader, only for said Union leader to have also forgotten. Fate could be cruel.
“I never imagined the world you came from to be like this. It’s strange to see you again here, of all places,” Terra admitted.
“I’m not from this world. The world I’m from…” Lauriam sighed. “It was destroyed a long time ago. This is where I found myself after I left.”
“Then can you come with us? To our world?” Ven blurted out. “I mean, you don’t have to, but… It would be nice to get to know you again! And maybe you can help me remember again!”
“You want me to…come with you?” Lauriam asked.
“We’ve been looking for Sora, but we’ve had to take breaks back home. I think Aqua will agree it’s about time for another one,” Terra said. “It would be nice to get to know you better…outside of everything before.”
“I don’t think I’d mind that, if you all will have me,” Lauriam answered. “And if I could help you find Sora again as well, it’d be the least I could do to make amends with him.”
And maybe find Elrena as well, and even Strelitzia, if they were searching many different worlds. Besides, where else could he go?
⁂
Day 2: New Beginnings
“Welcome to the Land of Departure.”
Lauriam looked around as Terra, Aqua, and Ventus led him through this new world. (New to him, at least.) Most of what he could see was the large building in front of them. It almost felt familiar; it must be the size, since the Castle That Never Was and Castle Oblivion seemed about as big as this place was. There was some greenery around, but not many flowers or anything like that.
Lauriam was okay with that. He was sure he’d still see the last place he saw his sister in his dreams.
“Come on!” Aqua led the group inside.
He was soon brought into a huge room. There were a couple of chairs, and it was nicely decorated, but there was a lot of empty space. Was this room used for training, or something else?
“Well, it’s not much, but it’s home,” Terra joked.
It was amazing how big this place seemed to be compared to what Lauriam was used to. “So this is the kind of place Keyblade wielders train these days?”
“I’m sure it’s not much compared to what you used to have,” Aqua said.
Lauriam chuckled. “When I was training, we were sent to different worlds all the time doing different missions. So, the places we got to stay in were rather small, but we were rarely there when we weren’t sleeping. I got to stay in the tower as a Union leader, though, which was much bigger. Too big, actually, it was easy to get lost in.”
As for after that… “As part of the…Organization, it wasn’t much different from when I was training. We had small rooms, but were constantly in other worlds for different missions. So, for the most part, this is actually bigger than I’m used to.”
“So a lot has changed…” Ven had a contemplative look on his face. “Can you tell us more? About what it was like back then? I wish I could remember…”
“Of course I can,” Lauriam said. He could tell more about the good times, anyway. He’d rather not get into the bad times, especially those relating to Darkness and his sister. But there were plenty of good times to reflect back on. “But we should probably find somewhere to sit, first. This could get long.”
⁂
“I’m assuming you want to get out of that coat.”
It had gotten late. Ven had gone to bed not long ago, and Aqua had just done the same. Ventus had listened eagerly to Lauriam’s recollections happily, and threw in his questions constantly. Now it was just Terra and Lauriam left.
Lauriam knew what Terra was getting at. He was sick of this black coat. It was supposed to protect his heart from darkness, but had come to symbolize something much worse. A period of his life that was now past.
“If you have anything else I could try, I would appreciate it,” Lauriam responded. “I would rather avoid wearing this thing unless I absolutely need to.”
“We’ve got spare clothes around. Stuff that doesn’t fit anyone. I’ll try to find whatever I can for you to try on.”
Lauriam thanked Terra as Terra walked off, going off to find the clothes in question. Now Lauriam was left alone with his thoughts, but all he could think about was what he was missing now that his memory had returned. He was missing Strelitzia, of course he was missing her. He was also missing Brain, Skuld, and Ephemer. He missed the Ventus that remembered who he was. The only thing that he had left from those times was his Keyblade, back to him now that he’d regained his heart.
Ironic, considering how before he’d regained his memories, he’d yearned for a Keyblade of his own.
Soon, Terra was back with a pile of clothes in his arm, more than Lauriam had been expecting.
“I can take you to a room to try them on,” Terra told him. “Hopefully something in here will fit you.”
Once Lauriam was there and alone, he started going through the pile. Most of it didn’t fit him, which he expected. It wasn’t like all the clothes were magically going to fit him. But he was able to find enough for a new outfit. A black button-up shirt and beige pants. He could keep his Organization boots on for now, so he wasn’t pressed for new shoes. Once the outfit was on, Lauriam walked back to where Terra was waiting, carrying his Organization coat over his shoulder.
“Well, what do you think?” Lauriam asked. “It’s certainly not my outfit from the old days, but I think it’ll do.”
“It looks great,” Terra said, a smile forming on his face. “It’s a fresh start. A new beginning for you.”
A new beginning… Lauriam liked that.
⁂
Day 5: Big Brothers Dynamic (or Day 3: Hurt/Comfort)
“He really looks up to you.”
Terra paused in his training. He looked over and noticed Lauriam watching him. Truthfully, Lauriam had been watching for a while, but Terra seemed so into his training that he hadn’t noticed.
“Who?” Terra asked.
“Ven,” Lauriam clarified. “He admires you, both you and Aqua.” He chuckled. “Ironic, considering he’s been a wielder much longer than you two.”
Terra shook his head. “Aqua deserves all the admiration, not me. I admire her, too. But after all I did to push him away, I’m lucky he looks up to me at all.”
“You can’t blame yourself for the way Xehanort manipulated you.” Lauriam frowned. “You’re far from his only victim. He has a knack for pulling in people who are lost, or missing something. It’s not luck or a mistake that Ven admires you; you came out of it all and took back everything that was yours.”
“I can’t agree with you, but I appreciate it.” Terra’s keyblade disappeared. “You know, you’re one of the first people that knew Ven before he lost his memory. After Chirithy, I mean.”
“Am I?” Lauriam blinked. “I’m…surprised, though really I shouldn’t be. Only the Union leaders and Elrena made it out of our world, and I haven’t found any of the other leaders since. Only Elrena, and now Ven, but Ven and Elrena hardly knew each other.”
“What was he like? Before he lost his memory?”
“Not so different, as far as I can tell. He was equal to the rest of us but still felt inferior, and felt he had to prove himself. He was a good friend, almost like a younger brother to the rest of us. He…”
Marluxia’s expression darkened. “He has more in common with you than either of you know.”
“…What do you mean?”
“He deserves better than to remember. If the full story comes out, he should be the first to know. But… Ven is part of the reason my sister disappeared.”
“Your…sister? What happened?”
Lauriam held up a hand. “Ven is not the one at fault. I forgave him a long time ago. Still, one of the reasons I left our world was to look for her. She has to be out there somewhere, and I won’t give up looking until I find her.”
Terra remembered what it felt like, when he returned home to find Master Eraqus attacking Ven. At that moment, it didn’t matter why their master was attacking him. Nothing could have stopped Terra from protecting Ven. He felt horrified that anyone would attack Ven, but the idea that their master felt he had to made Terra feel sick.”
He tried to picture it. Coming back to the Land of Departure to learn that Ven was completely gone. It was the closest he could think of based on what little Lauriam had described. “I don’t know what I’d do if I found out Ven was gone.”
“I think I nearly lost myself to the darkness when I learned what happened,” Lauriam said. He looked away. “I’m not proud of that moment, but I’m glad my friends were able to keep me from…” He sighed. “Well, that wasn’t long before I lost my memory and let myself become a vessel of darkness anyway, so I’m behind on my search.”
“Better late than never, though, right?” Terra smiled. “We’ll help you find your sister. I know I’d never stop looking if it were Ven, and we’re still looking for Sora anyway. Besides, we owe it to you as one of Ven’s friends.”
“You owe me nothing,” Lauriam protested. “I’ve done nothing to deserve that.”
“Then think of it this way: we’ll be helping each other. We won’t take no for an answer. But first…” Terra summoned his Keyblade. “Get your Keyblade. You’re joining in on training.”
“I’m more than a bit rusty,” Lauriam admitted, though he summoned his own Keyblade anyway. “I suppose it’s more reason for me to train.”
“I want to see how you fight. How strong you are. I’m curious about how much has changed since you and Ven’s time,” Terra said. “You better be ready.”
“I’ll admit, I’m curious as well.” Lauriam smirked. “I’ve been ready for ages.”

[Kingdom Hearts] The Heart of a Dandelion
Summary: By far, Ven’s got the most boring job at the flower shop; the cashier. Sitting day in and day out for someone to browse along the rows of flowers and gardening tools, then probably walk right out again. Sometimes an interesting thing would happen- but they were few and far between. [flower shop AU focused on UX kids][Part 5 in a series of oneshots][VenxOC][EphemerxOC/F!Player]

“Strelitzia needs a different job.”
Ventus gave a rather annoyed eye up at Elrena. Finals were coming up soon, and he was using this time to study. Of course, Elrena wasn't talking to him, she was talking to Lauriam. The older man was gently spritzing some flowers with a glycerin mixture. Elrena felt the need to lean against the front counter and shout at him from across the store. It was really starting to get on Ven's nerves.
“Why are you telling me this?” Lauriam gently asked as he looked over one flower, gave it a small tilt of his head, before giving its petals two sprays of glycerin. “Strelitzia's shift ended ten minutes ago. If you wanted to tell her this, you could have done it before she left.”
“She wouldn't, and didn't.” Ven retorted as he wrote down a math formula to memorize later. “Strelitzia makes her feel emotions. It scares her.”
“Shut up Roxas.” Elrena demanded as she reached over to slam his book closed. Ven blinked for a moment before looking at Elrena with a rather dark glare.
“You know my name is Ven.” he informed her, opening his book back up.
“See if I care.” came the nasty retort.
“Elrena, don't be rude to Ven just because you're worried.” Lauriam idly noted as he inspected another flower. He frowned in finding that it was wilting a bit.
“I'm not worried!” she immediately spat back. “I just… I just hate when she gets hurt.”
“No wonder you're always in a bad mood.” Ven remarked without thinking about it. Elrena flashed him a glare so dark, Ven physically recoiled from it.
“It is nice to know she's cares, isn't it?” Lauriam just as easily laughed. Elrena gave him a dark glare as well, but he simply shrugged it off. Instead, he picked up the wilting flower and brought it up to the front counter.
“In any event,” he said, taking the flower out of the ceramic vase. “You and I both know that Strelitzia's not going to change jobs anytime soon. She loves it here.”
“Must be a stupid masochist then.” Elrena huffed, even folding her arms in defiance. “Not a day goes by that she comes home with some new cut, or bruise, or headache from all these stupid plants...”
“Pretty sure everyone in our family has a high tolerance for pollen.” Lauriam laughed. “I think it just depends on your perspective.”
That earned him a peeved eye roll, along with another huff. Lauriam was definitely not paying her any mind while he laid the flowers in a single row. He placed the vase close to Ven- a hint that the younger needed to dump out the water. Ven made a mental note of it; he was still studying, after all. He did hand Lauriam some loose newspaper when he asked for it, though. Apparently Lauriam was going to dry the flowers out later.
“Our parents started Dandelion's you know.” he then thoughtfully said. “It was right after they got married.”
“I know that.” Elrena grumbled.
“You do, but Ven doesn't.”
Elrena let out an undignified huff. Lauriam offered a small chuckle in response before properly turning his attention to Ventus.
“They used flowers from their own garden. Mother handled the arrangements, and Father actually went to do minor landscaping work around town. Hence the dual 'Floristry and Gardening' bit on the full business name. It's not just because we sell gardening supplies year round.”
Ven gave a small, rather uninterested nod. By now he'd gathered that Lauriam wasn't really related this story to him, he was reminding Elrena. There was a reason why Strelitzia loved working here.
“Strelitzia was the one who brought up the idea of placing the shop here in the outlets. She was about 16 then, and the four of us decided to go out shopping for Mother's birthday. The moment she saw the store front, she knew the store had to be here.” Lauriam let out a soft snort before going on to say, “She had pretty good tastes, honestly, with it being a corner lot and all. Makes it easier to get big deliveries in and out.”
“Hmmph.” Elrena grumbled. “She only wanted it here because Ephemer's sylph worked at the antique store three shops down.”
“I thought she met Strelitzia when Ephemer started working here.” Ven cut in, now a bit confused.
“Anora and Strelitzia dated for a year and a half.” Lauriam gently agreed. “But Anora started working at the antique store when she was 17. Strelitzia was 18 then.” Lauriam offered Ven a kind smile. “You might be thinking of Anora and Brain. They met when Ephemer started working here, and hit it off pretty well from what I understand.”
At this, Elrena laughed in a rather obnoxious pitch. “More like hit on each other!” she cackled. “Those three were threewaying so often, that brat of theirs would have needed a paternity test if he didn't end up with Ephemer's hair!”
Lauriam frowned. “Elrena, you don't know that.”
“I bet they still go at it every now and again.” she went on, absolutely reveling at the thought. “Betcha in the next five years (maybe even sooner if you catch my drift), she's gonna pop another and it'll have hair as black as sin!”
“Elrena!” Lauriam finally demanded. “That's enough!”
Elrena immediately reined herself back in. Even Ven shrunk a bit at Lauriam's tone. Seeing Lauriam angry was possibly one of the most scariest things about him. Assuming he even let that anger show, of course.
“Back to the original topic at hand,” the oldest between the three of them said before slowly returning to a more relaxed demeanor. “It's because of Strelitzia that we were able to understand what Dandelion's meant to the community. Our parents had to raise the money to rent out this property at first. Once the whole town caught wind of it, we were able to meet the goal in a month.”
“That's pretty impressive.” Ven noted. His voice didn't sound as enthused though. Lauriam smiled at the acknowledgment, regardless.
“It was quite the shock.” he agreed. “Our parents were old souls- gentle, and fair too humble for their own good. Moving Dandelion's to the outdoor mall became a rather big affair. At the head of it was Strelitzia. Before Skuld was brought on to be our bona fide manager, it was Strelitzia.”
“Strelitzia's the one in charge of hiring new people too, right?” Ven asked. The thought had came to him suddenly. He could faintly remember his initial interview two or so years ago. Tired of being cooped up at home while Terra and Aqua worked at their respective jobs, Ven had been wandering around the outdoor mall for something to do. He walked by Dandelion's Floristry and Gardening, noticed the 'Now Hiring!' sign taped to the window, and immediately made a choice. Ephemer was the first person he got to know that worked here. Strelitzia became the second.
“She is.” Lauriam agreed with a smile and happy nod. “She has a natural intuition toward other people. We don't hire anyone without her say so.”
Elrena grunted. For a moment, Ven had to wonder why. Had Elrena tried to work here before?
“Point is,” Lauriam went on, “You can't separate this store from Strelitzia, or vice versa. Our parents might have started it, but she is Dandelion's Floristry and Gardening.”
Elrena was silent. The words settled around them as she thought long and hard over the idea. She knew he had a point, and she hated it.
“She's going to kill herself here.” she finally decided, looking up at Lauriam with a steely gaze. “How can she be happy when all she does is hurt herself?”
“Maybe you could ask her yourself.” Lauriam suggested with a sly grin. He then gave a rather bemused chuckle before taking the flowers to the backroom.
Elrena waited for when he was out of earshot just to mimic in a whining voice, “Maybe you could ask her yourself.” She huffed, folding her arms once again, then proceeded to act rather indignant. Ven didn't know why she was still in the store at this point.
He raised an eyebrow at her before questioning, “If you like Strelitzia so much, why don't you just tell her?”
“If you like that tramp Brain calls a sister so much, why don't you just tell her?” Elrena shot back, her voice still obnoxiously high. She let out a frustrated sigh before snapping at him, “It's not that simple, Roxas.”
Ven looked at her. Any thoughts about studying now were thrown out the window. If she wanted to go for the throat, then he was more than willing to fight back too.
“First of all,” he said, “My name is Ventus; Ven if you bothered to be nice for all of five seconds. Second, Strelitzia actually listens if you asked her to. And third, at least I'm trying.”
Elrena stood up a bit straighter at his assertion. A look of bewilderment crossed her face before being replaced with a snide smirk.
“Look at you, growing a spine.” Elrena marveled. Her voice was still chilly, though. “Keep that attitude up and you might just lose your virginity before graduation.”
It took Ven a solid three seconds for what she said to click. His face then started to flush a rather deep shade of red as he tried to return to his schoolwork. Elrena just snorted at him.
“Pathetic.” she mumbled under her breath. Then, without any warning, she shouted at the top of her lungs, “Well, if you're done talking to me, Lauriam, then I guess I'm out of here.”
Lauriam came out of the backroom just to wave her out.
“Have a safe trip home.” he told her. Elrena gave him a half hearted wave as she went on out. Ven, for one, was glad she was gone now. His joy at her departure did not go unnoticed. Lauriam looked over at him in thought for a moment.
“You're a lot braver than her, Ven.” Lauriam noted. “Just… next time? Be easier on her. She's not out of the closet yet.”
Admittedly, it took Ven a moment to realize what Lauriam said. When he turned around to give his coworker a funny glance, he was already gone.

Birds of Paradise
Fandom: The Vampire Diaries Pairing: Elijah Mikaelson x Male!Reader Summary: Elijah, in the past, has spoilt his significant other with gifts, flowers and such, but sometimes he wants to be spoilt despite being a thousand years old Word Count: 1,510 Request: “Could I request a fluffy Elijah please?” A/n: Hell yeah, you can
When Elijah opened the door of the family mansion, he's greeted by the sight of several dozen of the most brightly coloured flowers he's ever seen. Behind them was you, looking rather flustered and out of breath, and a full twenty minutes early for your date.
"Strelitzia," You say as if it explained things.
"Bless you," Elijah responds.
"Uh, the flowers. That's what the lady in the shop said they were called. Strelitzia. Or birds of paradise," You paused and presses them into Elijah’s hands, "They're for you."
Elijah peers down at the flowers in his arms. Their name suited them; the flowers really did resemble a brightly coloured bird in flight. The petals were a pleasing colour, a deep saturated yellow at the centre with orange tips, interspersed with cobalt blue stamens.
No one has ever got him flowers.
"Rebekah said to get roses but these seemed - I thought..." you tugged at the sleeve of your shirt awkwardly, shifting weight between your two feet, "They reminded me of you. Because you're- um..."
It appeared you were in that nervous state where you couldn't seem to manage to finish a sentence. Elijah smiles softly, clutching the flowers in hand, watching you struggle, as much as he wanted to watch you act adorable he dryly commented.
"Too fine to describe with mere words?”
Sarcasm, you weren’t familiar with Elijah’s usage of sarcasm. You didn’t know if it was part of Elijah’s vocabulary, you just assumed Elijah would be unable to function in the face of quick-witted comments, turns out he was good to serve them.
"Unexpected. In a good way, I mean. I went to the shop and I planned to get roses but then I saw them and I didn't know flowers could look like that. And it made me think of you. Because my life never goes the way I planned it especially with you, but unexpected is good sometimes.”
Elijah was lost for words. You assumed the worst.
"You don't like them,” You face falls, your shoulders deflate. "I should have listened to Rebekah."
"Whilst generally listening to my sister is orthodox advice, on this rare occasion she was quite wrong." He smiles, your eyes brighten, "I love them (Y/n), thank you.”
Elijah looked at you with a smile, who would have thought this mere human could make a thousand-year-old vampire feel butterflies flying up his throat?
He leaves the door open as he wanders into the kitchen, to tend to the flowers first. You wander in, following him. You didn’t say anything, but the silence was comfortable.
“Ready?”
“No doubt.”
Elijah liked kissing you.
You somehow taste like strawberries.
Elijah liked hugging you.
You smell like spring.
A mixture of fresh wind, ocean and freshly mown grass.
Elijah was quick to open his window when he sees you hanging on the tree by the house. He wonders how soundproof the mansion was if he and his family barely heard your footstep, let alone your heart beat.
He feels like a teenager, he understands why Rebekah was in love with the idea of being in love. It was the vertiginous feeling that ran across his muscles, he had to hold down his excitement. It was the butterflies roaming in his stomach and the chills you sent down his spine.
“What are you doing?” He chuckles as he watches you balance your way across the branch, he holds out a hand.
“Visiting you, you big oaf,” You commented, a tease and Elijah could turn red.
You grabbed his hand as he pulls you into his room, in the safety in his arms. He felt you rumble, the quiet hush of your laughter made him smile. You’ve barely been dating, three months stretching to the fourth month. But, when you were friends with him, he never felt like this.
It was the harmless crush, brightening up when he hears your name or standing straight at the sound of your voice.
Then, it was building the courage of asking you out.
Emotion plays a big part, everything was heightened.
“I got you something,”
Elijah’s heart almost leapt out of his mouth.
You take a silver ivy bracelet, he noticed how it looked expensive and ancient. The design purposely looking Viking treasure. Elijah looks at it, you gently unbuckle it and hed it out, politely asking for one of his wrists.
He held out his right, you put it on him - you struggled with it because jewellery wasn’t your forte. At that moment, Elijah looks up, he doesn’t know what to say or what to feel. He was so used to giving people gifts and making them happy.
He isn’t used to this feeling.
“It’s a protective charm, my grandmother is a witch, and whilst I, unfortunately, cannot tap into my magic, she found me to be smitten with you. She sends her regards, best of wishes, health and protection.”
You’re mumbling but ranting, there was a quirk in his lip.
He wasn’t used to this feeling.
To be loved.
He says “I love you” first.
You stood there shocked, he was holding birds of paradise in his hands. It was something you managed to find, summer flowers were harder to seek out in the middle of autumn.
The flowers were crushed against both your chest when you kissed him.
You peppered with his kisses, loving kisses. He laughs as you repeat the three precious words.
He didn’t mind that the orange hues of the flowers now stained his white dress shirt.
“I bought you a tie,”
It was simple, nothing much, but it was enough to draw him out of his reading session. You came through barrelling into the Mikaelson Mansion, it was your second home now.
You hated shopping, the only shopping you did was food shopping and even then that required walking. You just preferred to online buy things, required minimum effort and minimum walking.
“Ties, to be specific, plural.”
“Why?” Elijah questioned, he marks his place in the book and shuts it.
You pull out two, one in your left and another on the right, “You need more spice to your suits that cost you almost ten thousand grand. Blue and grey are boring.”
“Yes, but why?” Elijah was confused, no one has thought of him when they’ve gone out to shop.
You furrowed your eyebrows, “Why? Well, why not? You’re my boyfriend and thought you needed more - sorry, they don’t cost 300 dollars but it’s something.”
They cost more, in Elijah’s eyes, they come out the heart of you.
“I like the green one,”
“Thought you would.”
Still, months after dating you, he would get used to the feeling of being loved. Being taken cared of, having a support system he could come to bed with.
Still, he was utterly baffled, when you got him a book.
“It’s a good read,” You mention, unpacking bags into the kitchen.
He was helping you, noticing how you brought all Hope’s and Davina’s favourite snacks. Freya’s important ingredients, but his helping was cut short when you made him awkwardly flip through the pages of the book.
It’s a simple gesture, you’re still going about your everyday routine. You seem to be unaffected yet he forgets that he’s a thousand years old and a big scary vampire that could murder you with a snap of your neck.
“Thank you,”
“It’s nothing, babe.”
He loves how you touch him.
Your fingers running down his skin, they’re soft and gentle almost as if they are barely touching him. But, it wasn’t ticklish, they’re electrifying.
He wonders, what effect he has on you.
But, he’s caught up in your eyes he forgets to ask.
You face him in bed, you’ve been dating for over a year now. Elijah is proud to be your boyfriend, sure, there were some up and downs. But, even now, as he stares at you in bed, it seems like he’s falling in love with you all over again.
You’re not asleep, just resting your eyes, you could sense him staring at you. Admiring how you are structured. Imperfect perfection.
“I’d like birds of paradise at our wedding,” Elijah elucidated, knowing full when you’re awake.
“Oh?” You breathed.
“Yes, I’d like that, it’ll brighten the room and-” Elijah sighs, almost dreamily, “It’ll be perfect.”
“Is this a marriage proposal?” You teased, opening your eyes, “Mr Mikaelson?”
Elijah smiles, genuine happiness expressed on a vampire notoriously famous for being too serious, “No not yet, it’ll be flowers and at one of the stem would have the ring on it.”
“Oh, you sap, Elijah,” You yawned, shutting your eyes, “Marry me soon, will you? I’m getting angsty.”
“Ah, I will do,” he hears you evening out your breathing, you’re in a slumber, he suppresses how quickly you drifted away, “Soon, my love, and you’ll be a Mikaelson too.”
Elijah closes his eyes, he feels safe in the presences of you. He’s happy to be with you.
They really do fly them out the paradise, if paradise is with you.

sometimes I really wish it was easier for me to classify how I feel about different characters
I know I don’t need to make it specific in most cases, what’s important is that I like the characters, but- I just personally like having things organised properly, so that they feel more definite ;w;
#a call from the void#selfship#selfshipping#specifically this is about#brother: abyss‑forged warrior (tartaglia)#brother: emptiness of shadow (vanitas)#and#???: flower cut too soon (strelitzia)#in the first two cases I can’t tell if I view them more as friend figures or as brother figures#and for strelitzia it’s whether I see her as a friend or as a girlfriend because I just?? can’t?? tell???#when you’re the only one who can answer the question and you don’t know the answer to the question it’s not very fun#and for strelitzia specifically it’s also a bit of a case of whether it feels “right” to selfship with her romantically#since a) her source game technically doesn’t exist anymore and b) it isn’t clear how old she is and I don’t like that#like she could very easily be the same age as I am or even a bit older but then she could just as easily be like 16 or something#and in that case I obviously wouldn’t view her in the same light but because nothing is very clear it’s difficult#if that makes sense? I promise I am not trying to make excuses or anything but I’m just trying to get my thoughts out#if anyone is curious: look up her medal art. it’s the closest thing we have to non-stylised art of her but it doesn’t really explain much

Right, I think I might have figured out a solution for tags! I won’t actually implement this system until people have had an opportunity to say what they think of it - and also so I can change the tags from my laptop at home, rather than trying to do it from my phone - but, I think I’ve come up with something I’m happy with!
Romantic F/O tags will follow the format “love: tag (name)”. For example, Pyra’s tag would become “love: fire of the aegis (pyra)”, and Pavo’s would be “love: winged watcher (pavo)”.
The tags for my selfships will be written as “selfship: tag (F/O name/self-insert name)” - for instance, my selfship with Aqua will be tagged as “selfship: survivors of the dark (aqua/aria)”.
Self-inserts will be tagged similarly, using the format “self-insert: tag (name)”, such as “self-insert: scourge of royalty (telanthera)”. These tags (as well as any others that contain hyphens) will all use non-breaking hyphens so they appear properly in search results, so be warned of that!
Familial F/O tags will be structured as “relation: tag (name)” to make things a bit more specific - for example, “brother: cobalt cool cat (inigo)” or “father: the dad from down under (vandham)”.
Platonic F/Os will be tagged according to the format “friend: tag (name)”, such as “friend: firecracker of a gal (crossette)”. I think I will also change the series tags to make it more obvious what they’re alluding to, like just using “xenoblade friends”, or “kirby friends” rather than “friends from the stars” for the latter. I might keep “friends from friends” for others’ OCs and self-inserts, though.
Any tags I have for characters that aren’t actually F/Os (yet?), or where I can’t quite discern what my feelings for them are, will follow the format “???: tag (name)”, such as “???: flower cut too soon (strelitzia)”. I was thinking of making a distinction between crushes and other potential F/Os, but I figured it would be better to just put everything under the same umbrella of potential F/Os, especially when I’m not sure what I feel for them.
This system allows me to make it more clear whether names of characters are my F/Os or my self-inserts, as well as what kind of F/O each character is to me without needing constant referral back to my carrds, but at the same time most of the F/O tags don’t make it entirely obvious at first glance that I selfship with them to someone who doesn’t know what selfshipping is, so I would still feel comfortable reblogging fanart and things.
Do people think this is a good idea?
#a call from the void#advice is appreciated#please don’t reblog this post#long post#logistics#ask to tag

[Kingdom Hearts] F-You in Bouquet
Summary: By far, Ven's got the most boring job at the flower shop; the cashier. Sitting day in and day out for someone to browse along the rows of flowers and gardening tools, then probably walk right out again. Sometimes an interesting thing would happen- but they were few and far between. [flower shop AU focused on UX kids][Part 1 in a series of oneshots][VenxOC][EphemerxOC/F!Player]
Rating: K+ (cursing)

. . .
Ventus had the most boring job at the flower shop; being the cashier. Day in and day out, from after school to closing, Ven sat on a lumpy stool to watch next to no one come in. There was more of a commotion in the shop around spring- since they offered gardening supplies to help offset how little people randomly bought bouquets and arrangements for their loved ones. Not that Ven should be complaining- it was, in a way, easy money. He even had time to get his homework done in the first hour or so too.
Not that Skuld couldn't find something for him to do. Especially if he dared to utter that he was bored. However, just a low sigh would have made Skuld suggest he do something else if she heard him. That's happened before, and it was in the process of almost happening again. Ven sat at the front counter while Skuld sat at a wooden table behind him. The table in question was for finished arrangements that were scheduled to be picked up in person by the customer. Sometimes they used it as an extra table to make arrangements when the ones in the backroom were set to be cleaned off. Today, Skuld was making it her base of operations while she went through current, old, and new orders while also doing a bit of budgeting as well.
If her occasional grunts of agitation were any indication, the backlog had been much longer than what she had anticipated.
“Ephemer,” Skuld loudly declared, giving only the briefest of glances toward the backroom, “I'm gonna have to cancel your weekly order of flowers to Anora. We're going to need those spares for a bigger arrangement this week.”
“Naw,” Ephemer whined from the back room, “How will my wife know that I love and cherish her?”
Ven watched as Skuld let out a hard sigh, setting down her pen so she could rub her temples. In a voice that was understandably exhausted, Skuld groaned, “Ephemer…!”
That was when the young man actually came to the doorway bordering the main shop and the backroom. His face was rather serious as he looked back at his old partner in crime.
“I was joking, Skuld.” he told her- his voice no less serious. “It was a joke.”
“Uh huh,” Skuld mused as she reached for a piece of floral wire next to her. She bent it into a triangle shape as she told Ephemer, “Get back to work you lovestruck slacker.”
Before he could give a retort, Skuld tossed the bent wire in his direction. Ephemer let out a yelp of surprise before ducking back into his workspace.
“Rude!” he shouted from the backroom, leading Skuld to let out a rather amused laughter. She needed to let out that laugh- Ven could tell just by the way she sighed after recollecting herself.
After that distraction, the main shop got so eerily quiet that Ven's ears almost starting to ring. The hours went by as Skuld made corrections to orders and did whatever else she did. Time passed by so slowly, that Ven was surprised when Brain hit the counter on his way out.
“Whelp, time for me bounce.” he announced, giving Skuld and Ventus a nod.
“Have a good night.” Skuld replied with a little wave. “Remember that time sheets are due this week.”
“Already did mine.” the smooth talking young man affirmed. “But before I go, I gotta warn you two- the Queen of Sheba will be gracing you with her presence today after she gets done at work. She'll tell you the details once she gets here.”
Ven's heart suddenly leaped into his throat. “Sabrina?” he asked, almost automatically. Skuld, on the other hand, groaned.
“And here I was thinking about finishing up for the day too.” she said. Skuld placed two fingers at the bridge of her nose as she thought things over. “We're overstaffed as it is right now. Ephemer will be off the clock in another thirty minutes- and he has to go because I promised him as much when he stayed late yesterday. Which means you'll be manning the store on your own, Ven. Do you think you could help her out without the rest of us?”
“M-me?” he stammered. He even pointed to himself as if he had no idea of his own presence in the room.
“It'll be fine.” Brain nodded. “She likes you.”
The young man's head whipped to his older peer. “Really?”
“Just take her order and we'll fill it later.” Skuld added on. “Shouldn't be any different than any other customer.”
“Should.” Brain teased with a tip of his fedora. He then choose to make that the mark of his leave, failing to even warn Ven when exactly Sabrina would be coming around. Even if Ventus told Skuld he could do it, and that odd glare she gave him didn't inspire confidence, a part of him wondered even if he could handle Sabrina alone.
The waiting for her to come in became nearly unbearable. Skuld left not soon after Brain, and Ephemer left on time and wished Ven the best of luck. He just hoped she was in a good mood. Normal Sabrina was a handful because of her natural pessimism and sass. But angry Sabrina? Ven shuddered. No man alive knew how to calm Sabrina down when she was mad. He had been so lost in worrying about Sabrina's mood, and the boredom of nothing going on, that he almost fell asleep. He didn't even quite register that the little bell above the flower shop's door jingled before he saw Sabrina angrily stomping her way to the main counter.
“How do you say 'fuck you' in a bouquet?” Sabrina demanded, her voice almost a bit too loud, as she slammed her hands onto the counter. It startled Ven for a moment- definitely waking him up from his half sleep.
“I, uh...” he stammered as he tried to get his brain in gear. The pure rage in Sabrina's chocolate brown eyes filled Ven with both awe and great fear. His mind was blank, but he still managed to say one word, “Poppies.”
That immediately made Sabrina raise an eyebrow. “Poppies?” she repeated, her voice well laced with skepticism.
“Poppies.” Ven said once more, nodding his head almost a bit too fast. “Their seeds can be extracted to make drugs- opium. And, um, you're not allowed to grow them by seed in certain regions, and, uh...” The teen was about five seconds away from slapping himself. He was too stupefied by Sabrina's presence that he didn't even bother to voice the most obvious question on the table. “Why do you want a… uh, 'fuck you' bouquet anyway?”
Sabrina stood a bit straighter, her hands forming into fists. “I'm getting laid off.” she grumbled.
“I'm sorry...”
“Don't be.” she quickly shot at him. She looked away for a moment to mumble, “Boss was an asshole anyway.”
“So why are you…?”
Sabrina looked back at Ven- her eyes shining with a fierce determination. “His birthday is next week, and I want to piss him off one more time- think you can help me?”
All Ventus could gave her at this point was a slow nod. In the back of his mind, he was almost grateful that -while she didn't say she liked him directly- it was clear that she had some genuine regard toward him. Otherwise she'd be making him dig his own grave; literally.
“We'd need to have other flowers than just poppies though.” he then said to her. He quickly looked around for a scrap piece of paper so he could -badly- sketch out the arrangement for her. “The poppies can decorate the lower portion of the arrangement, but we'd need something as a focal point. Something tall that can create a semi or quarter circle in the back.”
“Like lavender?”
Ven blinked before looking back up at her. “Lavender?”
Sabrina shrugged. “Gotta know it came from me, right?”
“Right.” the young man agreed- his face flushing a bit. “Lavender could do. It might be hard to find stalks tall enough, though. But we'd still need something… something that would make a statement. What about...”
“A rose.” the two of them said at the same time. Both seemed a bit off guard by their equal thought, leading them to just stare at each other.
“Black roses represent death sometimes.” Ven suddenly said, his voice just a pitch too high as he tried to look away from Sabrina. “We can even have the thorns in tact to really make a, uh, a statement. You know?”
“Sounds good.” Sabrina nodded. She looked down at Ven's arrangement sketch- his generic looking poppies and poor lavender scribbles left much to be desired. “Do you take the rose thorns off by hand, or do you buy them in bulk like that?”
“A bit a both.” the teen told her. He took a step back or two from the counter to give her some space. “We try to get precut roses because Strelitzia keeps finding new ways to hurt herself, apparently...”
Sabrina looked up at him. “But?”
“Lauriam tries to keep some flowers growing year round in the greenhouse. Depending on the color, I might be able to cut one right off the bush for you.”
“Black roses aren't natural, are they?”
“Not exactly. The closest are really just super red ones. Sometimes a dark purple too. Even then, we sometimes use dye to make them look a bit darker.”
“Does Lauriam have any that dark?”
“I'm not sure offhand. But I can show you what he has.”
“Are you allowed to do that?” Sabrina asked, folding her arms as she gave him a neat raise of his eyebrow.
Ven looked everywhere but at her as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. “No, not really.” he admitted. “But it would only be for a moment. It shouldn't hurt anything.”
“Then lead the way.”
A jolt shot through Ventus for a moment. With a shaking hand, he gestured for her to follow him to the backroom. From there, they could use a side door into the greenhouse. It was with a hyper awareness that he noted that Sabrina strolled rather close to him.
This wasn't a bad thing, not really. Sabrina was Brain's sister- almost a part of the Dandelion crew herself. She could be in the backrooms and the greenhouse if she had staff permission. Besides, Ephemer's wife and kid were allowed back this way sometimes. Usually because Ephemer couldn't keep his hands off his wife for more than a minute, but still. Ven would be lying if he said he hadn't considered doing it before too. Not with Ephemer's wife, of course, but with…
“You always forget how naturally smooth real flowers are.” Sabrina sighed. Ven took a look back at her to notice that the tip of her finger was gently grazing some tiger lilies. For a moment, he found himself jealous of a stupid flower.
“Lauriam's rose bushes are this way, Sabrina.” Ventus said. It brought her attention back to him and allowed the two of them to continue their venture.
Their check on the rose bushes didn't take long. Sabrina only gave the black rose bush a nod before deciding that they would do for the task. The duo walked back to the main shop in silence- the rest of the arrangement made in near silence.
“The flowers will be delivered on your boss's birthday, right to his office.” Ven told her once everything was settled. He bit his lip for a moment before hazarding to ask, “Since you're not going to be working for awhile, are you going to be visiting the shop more? To visit Brain or whatever.”
“Dunno.” Sabrina huffed. She looked up at him before asking, “What times are you usually here for?”
A faint blush appeared on Ven's cheeks as he scratched the tip of his nose a bit. “Pretty much every day after school. We're not opened on the weekends, you know. It really makes stuff boring.”
Sabrina gave a thoughtful hum. “Maybe I'll visit.” she decided as she picked up her receipt. “After homework's done.”
“Right.” Ven dimly agreed. Sabrina gave him one last inquisitive stare before she started to leave. After she left, the teen let out a soft sigh as he rested his hand in his head. He could have gone to sleep right then and there had he not remembered that he needed to get home soon. As he got the store ready for closing, he wondered what the odds were that Sabrina could start working at Dandelion's as well. But the thought immediately left as he shut the lights off for the night. Sabrina deciding to join their crew was just as ridiculous as asking her not to wear purple.
But, as it crossed Ven's mind when he saw Terra's truck pull into the parking lot, it wasn't entire impossible either...
