sanemi on an entirely shitty day, utterly worn out from back to back missions, lightheaded from blood loss because he overdid it whilst fighting, and still trudging to the biannual hashira meeting because he cannot miss it. he’s barely keeping his eyes open the entire time, ends up nearly snapping at kagaya of all people because he was told to take better care of himself. and then the meeting’s over and sanemi is dragging himself home, but the other hashira could tell he’d been a moment from shouting at kagaya, and why would they let that happen?—so some of them start lecturing him, those who knew him longer even bringing up when he actually did lash out at kagaya at his first meeting. sanemi intends, truly, to simply tell them to fuck off and leave him be, but his words get caught in his throat. he hears panicking before he realizes he’s crying—woah, what the hell, he’s crying? there’s obvious distress around him but sanemi isn’t in the mood for their pity because he fucking humiliated himself now (god, why did all the hashira have to still be there?), so he just shoves them away and hurries out. it’s all he can do to get back home before he just passes out in his room and hopes he doesn’t wake up.
