eiri has been with me for over 20yrs atp - these references aren’t rly inspirations; they’re more like sensory triggers that call him to presence, or that connect to various parts of his lore and help me think through him/events from his life

Francis in Brother(2022) - the first time i saw the movie, i tried rly hard to ignore my mind screaming in recognition, and then i saw Francis do this and promptly gave up the fight

Lyle Jensen in Manic(2001) - seeing this movie/character was i think my first time having the experience of pointing at the tv screen in astonishment at the likeness in story irt Eiri

Björk/Pagan Poetry - miss ma’am sewed pearls into her skin in a deconstructed wedding dress while swept in the throes of passion over a lover who inspires her devotion so viscerally that she’s willing to risk it all , but she denies herself the fulfillment of this desire… that’s him all over

IAMX - idfw Chris Corner anymore but the music still relates to ya boy ; there are near whole albums on his playlist, so

Toshiya (DIR EN GREY) - the bass solo in Cage was there at his conception and birth loool

15. How would they describe themselves? - a fierce and untamable lion // a god among men // a problem and a threat // a blemish on the face of society XD he's not going to be able to answer this question seriously

What’s the worst injury they’ve ever had? - dominic has probably seen more game overs than any of my ocs , but he's also part of an au and has access to alien tech to put him back together again and also isn't entirely human atm - that said : he very truly doesn't recommend forgetting there's an active bomb in your jacket pocket 8D *pro tip

Do they have any insecurities? - oh boy lol the short answer is yes ; it takes a lot of bravado to cover up the fact that he really doesn't believe he'll amount to anything or that anyone could truly love him , and it doesn't help that he feels totally unable to protect the ones most dear to him - so ... lolol "party"

2. What’s their biggest regret?

- right out the gate with the heavy hitters , eh ? lol well ~ he's a very 'no regrets , only memories' kind of guy , but he definitely has regrets about how his c'est la vie kind of attitude has encouraged friends down self-destructive paths ; he's enabled unhealthy patterns and habits and hasn't noticed until it got dangerous more times than he'd like in the past - it's something he's working on getting better at now after too many close calls , but the guilt still gets to him and it all kinda makes him question a lot of things about his own risky lifestyle

8. If they were an animal, which one would they be? Which one would they think they’d be?

- i'd say horse - ara is rly into dragons , so that's likely his choice even though it's mythological

14. What’s their favorite book genre, if they enjoy reading at all?

- graphic novels , for sure ~ he loves deep lore and storytelling but he needs visuals to keep him engaged ; i see him being into fantasy and mystery , with a soft spot for the superhero stuff

15. How would they describe themselves?

- as extremely as he likes to live , his desires are simple ; arashi sees himself as a fairly laidback person and he would describe himself as a reformed troublemaker - the angels and devils on his shoulders get along and makeout instead of argue with each other nowadays XD if you catch him in a cocky mood , though , he's a lot less conservative about his virtues ; for example , his wife and lovers often hear about how good he is to them (i mean , they often agree , so ~ lol) and he's quite satisfied with his role as most-liked mentor at his acro-studio

dominic : fine lines by def.sound (ft. alex isley) clementine : into orbit by alex isley i feel like i’m late on this and everyone’s prob been tagged already , so i’m gonna skip that task this time because i’ll feel compelled to check first and the posts are prob too far back to do that simply dlkafjdsl just tryna cut down on overwhelm for my first go-around with tag games - but !!! i’ve seen ppl say “feel free to say i tagged you” and i very do feel that - i’d be happy to see your ocs and listen to the songs attributed to them !! 🎀

since nobody knows crap about these two yet , a summary! , and then just random thoughts i felt like sharing ~ (under the cut!!) :

dominic and clementine found each other on the side of the road and have lost and found one another countless times following ; no matter which version of themselves shows up when they reunite , they continue to fall in love at every opportunity ~ there’s a tragic part , but we’re ignoring that for now lolol (it’s one of those things i rly wish didn’t have to happen , so we’re hanging out here in the time-space that exists before it occurs , okay ?? okay ~ ;3)

i settled on these two for the challenge because dom 1) is my namesake and 2) was the first oc i ever posted to ye olde simblr and y’all haven’t seen him since XD also 3) i finally got clementine looking as she should and gave dom his tattoo updates - it needed to be documented <3 also also 4) other ocs hold more of my perfectionistic streak than these two , who really cba about “getting it right” so 83 rly embracing the better-done-than-perfect philosophy with this one ~ as i finish revamping the designs of other character groups , i plan to revisit this challenge ; i think it’s a nice way to introduce ocs that are more story-based , since there’s instantly something to relate with them <3

NAME : arashi

PRONOUNS : he/him

HOME CITY : okinawa-shi , okinawa prefecture , japan

BACKGROUND : as the only child of a single mother who happens to be a wildly successful chef running an internationally acclaimed restaurant , there might’ve been some expectation for arashi to take up the mantle ; his passions , however , lie firmly in the world of cirque - his mother encouraged his ambition with a firm caveat that he’d work the kitchen and learn the trade in exchange for her funding his extreme hobbies through mid-adolescence ~ she was as supportive as she is demanding , so while he never had any culinary school setting education , many young years of real-time experience with accomplished and learned cooks in a live restaurant kitchen means that he knows his shit and can handle the flames ~  his plan is to win the competition as a debt of gratitude to and in honor of the mother that made his future as a fire-wielding athlete more than a pipe dream ~ arashi’s acrobat career skyrocketed in his late teens when he teamed up with an exceptionally well-connected friend, eventually becoming co-founder of their own company and going on to produce a series of cult-popular shows and attractions with a loyal troupe of artists and performers - but when an injury on trapeze took him out of the circus ring and forced him to take a break from the Big Top during recovery , it was the heat of the kitchen that soothed this adrenaline-junkie’s itch for exciting challenges ; arashi returns to chef life with renewed inspiration and a motive to express his taste for daring theatrics through the art of fusion cuisine ~ the rules and recipes inside of his mother’s establishment may be strict , but on his own time outside of it , arashi is innovating a fresh take on japan’s traditional kaiseki ryori , drawing influence from other strains of his dna and introducing the bold candor of southern american cajun soul food to this elegant fine dining ritual

PERSONALITY : probably a given at this point that he thrives in environments of organized chaos and actively seeks thrills through pushing boundaries , but that is the very quality that sets him at ease in a high-stakes kitchen ~ arashi’s cirque persona is an untamable batshit pyromaniac , and he makes it look damn good - a riotously fun time is the baseline vibe , but he’s an excellent executive as well , spinning many plates on a shifting floor with an aire of ease , warmth , and good-natured humor that’s comforting to those under his charge ; friends trust and rely on his thoughtfulness in the eye of a storm , even if his moral compass is more resemblant of jack sparrow’s ; his path won’t set you on the straight and narrow but it’ll get you where you want to go (and if not , well ~ he’ll roll you a smoke to soothe your ills) - failure bothers him more than he lets on , so it’s always “off to the next mistake” with a pack of Lucky Strikes in hand and lessons learned to tell the tale ~ he’s got a penchant for bouncing back higher than the distance fallen.

Or do they prefer a different type of pet? she has a pup named strawberry !! and she loves all the little critters ~ just , tbh , she's not great at attending to anything that needs a stable environment (herself included looooool) but if she had a place for it , she'd have a fish bowl or tank cuz she thinks aquatic beings are neat <3 also all the hooved bbies ~ and lizards 9. Does your sim plan ahead or wing it?

does planning on winging it count >> she'll daydream about what she wants to happen and then try to follow the cosmic breadcrumbs to the most interesting outcome

18. Is there a hobby/career/interaction in the game that you wish existed solely for this sim?

interactions with trains , and maybe chewing gum / blowing bubbles (that's not a thing yet , right ?)

19. Are they more creative or logical? A mix of both? Neither?

definitely prefers creative thinking over logical ("because everything is make-believe anyways") , but she might consider that to be logical - and tbh i can't say that she's wrong tho lol questions by noncommittaltrait
