"Don't tell me you're scared?" Lydia challenged with arched brows, tilting her head a fraction as she snickered. "You'd be surprised; the deceased provide good company. Better than most people. No need to be afraid. They can't hurt you; it's the living you need to look out for," she teased. It would've been funny to see his reaction though...This place certainly was not for the faint of heart. She wasn't that cruel. Maybe. Smiling at him, she shook her head at Aaron, the thought of him trying to soften Maggie up on her behalf was more amusing than anything. Sweet sentiment, though. "My saving grace. A man, hero of the hour, bringing women together, with a few words and a pretty face," she said sarcastically, a hand on her heart and laughed again. "I'm sure I'll survive, thank you." She was like Marmite, you either loved her or hated her. Either way, Lydia wasn't one to dwell on what others thought of her. What you see was what you get with her. Most of the time. He was right in his assumption, albeit it was more the other way around. Work didn't keep Lydia; she kept working. On many occasions, she had to be coaxed out of the building so she'd go home. A classic workaholic - perhaps more of an extreme one. "I like having you around. You're like my own little personal alarm clock," the woman joked, heading back to her desk so she could log off and tidy her desk - nothing more important than a meticulous workspace. "As long as I don't bore you half to death," Lydia replied to his suggestion, shooting another smile in his direction as she picked up her coat from the coat rack and started to fasten the buttons. "Hey, you. Was that code for 'you look like shit?'" Lydia shot daggers in his direction, though her tone suggested she was joking. "Do you think I should go home and change first? Freshen up or something?" After all, they were going for dinner - there was no harm in looking nice. And to be honest, it was a miracle she was so easily pried away from work, but she did feel bad about being so late so - it was half a compromise, to say the least.

He raised his hands defensively, "nope you can't pay me to go there. I don't step foot in the morgue unless absolutely necessary." If Lydia was in those rooms though, he'd eventually make his way there. He couldn't help but chuckle at the mention of the front desk lady. "Maybe Maggie just warms up to me, I'll put in a good word for you next time." Aaron was just teasing, but maybe he could. Just for Lydia. Aaron waited for realization to reach her. She'd notice the clock soon enough. "All good, I figured work kept you once again. It's why I came here first." 9 times out of 10, Lydia could be found at work. Honestly, Aaron would find it odd to come here and not see her. "You can tell me all about this case at dinner," wherever was still open, at least. "At least what you're allowed to share. The case will still be here when you come back, and..besides, you look like you need a break."
