I really am so pleased that this is the resolution for c!Dream and c!Tommy, because a lot of my least favorite Tommy moments really came from him just. not listening to someone, yelling over them, ignoring what they were saying to him! and Dream getting an actual moment of connection with another character, someone who sets aside the mask of the big bad villain and genuinely tries to understand, and who he lets himself be vulnerable with! and it being TOMMY- it just ties together their stories so well, the ones who were always in conflict, always fighting back and forth back and forth, and finally they both stop. they lower their swords. they understand each other. 

I never dared to hope that their story could end in any kind of reconciliation, but it really is the most unexpected gift that they both are able to end their cycle of violence. It only makes the server’s sudden reset all the more wonderfully bittersweet: they finally made peace with each other, and it was too late. 

Though at the same time... I honestly can’t see it as too late, even though that’s the obvious way to read it. Because the fact they did it at all matters- they made a step to get better, and that matters! MAN. man. what an ending. can’t wait to see what comes next
