Wait crying again bc I was rewatching The Intruder today (episode 4 of season 1) and I realized that like. The glyphs represent a few things in the narrative but one thing that's consistent is they're always there when Luz doesn't feel like she's good enough on her own. They appear to her as comfort in moments of self depreciation or self doubt, or she coincidentally learns them in episodes where she faces her fear of rejection or makes a mistake (at least this is true in terms of the first four base glyphs she discovers). It's the titans way of saying "you may have to do things differently, but you can do anything they can do" to Luz bc he cares about her

"#their rs is only as equal as he decides it to be" hits the nail on the HEAD for me THANK you. llh and fdb are friends the way parents and children can be friends. fdb makes a very commendable effort at being equals with llh and llh can allow and enjoy it to an extent but there IS a gap. fdb not having access to llh's past puts him in a unique position to understand llh in a way that nobody else does and that IS good for llh, like fresh eyes on such a worn out painful story. but there's also an element of responsibility that llh has for fdb that he doesn't have for dfs. dfs is his equal and can make his own life choices. he only escaped dfs at the end because of dfs's own choice to trust him with the flower, not anything llh could have done. but he can still escape fdb on his own power just fine. ANYWAY EVERY RELATIONSHIP IN THIS SHOW IS KILLING ME IN UNIQUE AND SPECIFIC WAYS thank u for understanding

hell yeah. to me their relationship is entirely premised on that gap between them, for better and for worse. that's how fdb can be unique to him but at the same time also puts him out of fdb's reach forever (that's why ep 30 hits hard). it's very likely llh wouldn't have continued with their relationship - at least with the degree of investment he did - if not for finding out his connection to sgd. so the familial element in it is virtually inseparable from the manner they ended up to be with each other. (like also, on top of how how lxy was literally a formative "adult" figure to bb fdb.)

while fdb thinks this is a friendship the whole time, llh actually treats fdb like a younger family member 小辈, with the front of being friends bc he was a Liar hiding his identity. and then post-identity reveal was bc he's just a Liar who doesn't feel the need to load his own problems on a younger member as an elder. (I do think this mismatched perceptions of their relationship is delicious)

also that's such a good add-on regarding dihua's relationship - particularly about the element of trust between them, which is a basis to why I can consider them friends in some dimension even back when they were more of rivals, unlike fdb with llh. like llh/fdb, they contain a paradox: being the ones who understand each other better than anyone else can but also bc they're so up close on each other that they fail to really see each other too. they're equals premised on the circumstance of them being from the same generation with a shared past (that is also part of their tragedy), but also, in a very curious space of it not being entirely mutual - simply due to llh being the person he is with the kind of conflict he's facing. (once again, all the relationships llh have are embedded with a degree of them being unrequited and it's <333 </333)

valerian kemp is my stranger avatar oc. he’s greasy. he found a leitner and was like ‘huh this lowkey slaps’ and rolled w it. his whole thing is just rolling with it but like to the point where he could really use like a modicum of personal agency. he usually looks like just a dude but sometimes he’s a mannequin w like a lahaina noon thing going on. personally wouldnt want the strangers ritual to work (not that it would) but would most likely be bullied into helping anyways.

clement meyer is a corruption avatar. he got all fungused up (because why not go w a plant rot thing instead of bugs?) and would personally really just like to be left alone in the woods for a while? maybe playing some hozier? very subdued and quiet, his one feral tendency is that he will drink from muddy puddles and actually carries a collapsible straw for such occasions. he’s mute and uses bsl when he has to interact with people

mary meyer is clement’s younger sister and she’s just so rabid feral. she’s a vast avatar who has 0 qualms about sacrificing you, but she will maybe hopefully let you go after a while. when she walks she uses a cane but she tries to just float whenever possible. she wears a lot of decora kei fashion and is 100% a furry. knows the entire choreography to carmelldansen. says “yknow like nya” a lot. just really rabid

liam fox is a lonely avatar who Got Lonely during Peter’s ritual, and was just really pissed when the press came and messed it up. if you try and talk to him chances are he will vanish. would rather spend his time in the lonely. if you somehow manage to become friends with him he’ll take you into the lonely and make you watch the tv from cul de sac while pretending it’s perfectly normal. he’ll let you go (maybe) it’s just how he shows affection

abigail harding is a web avatar with just a super cool mouth my dudes. her chin splits vertically and there’s some cool spider fangs up in there! she likes to go from library to library and manipulate her way into working (aka getting paid to do nothing) there, read a lot of books, and prey on anyone who catches her eyes. very theatrical and dramatic

My opinion on general fandom opinion is so limited just because I have curated my experience so well. Mcyttwt is a hellhole but there are nice people there who brings up interesting points. And that's just me judging from seeing what shit is going down and half of stan twt doing the most stupid thing and the other half calling them out. It's like. We have become very comfortable with tumblr that I get the gut feeling that some bad stuff will go down here bc we are not better, never will be. It's just the way the platform is built that allow us to in general have a more pleasant experience.

Then there are obviously different degrees of hell. The purity culture stuff that seems so deeply rooted in stan culture worries me. And I have been a part of fandoms there you couldn't go on the maintag without being disgusted by the fandom. I might just be paranoid but just because you dont see it doesnt mean its not there ya know?

lotta things to unpack here.

first, my fandom opinion is likely v curated as well. i think i got a good, general perspective on mcyttwt and mcytblr at first, when i first joined, but first when i unfollowed lots of fetishizers on mcyttwt when i still had that account, and ever since i unfollowed lots of dream stan blogs/blogs that defended dream's reddit thing on here, it's probably become much more biased and tailored to my own perspective. thus why they call social media sites the perfect places to create your own echochamber.

second, yeah, of course there are still people on mcyttwt who are like sane and intelligent. it's just very hard to grasp that intelligence in the mess of idiot stans, and also hard for people to convey any kinda nuanced or good point w such a character limit/w how twitter search functionality works.

third, i also agree that we're not better. we are different, simply by nature of this site attracting different people from twitter and because of structural differences in how the sites function, but better? no. depending on the user you ask, some might say that this side of the fandom has already proven its scuminess. i'd say it has since the reddit thing. some would say ever since dream smp stans started invading the site, some would say once dream cheated and people flooded their dashes w rabid stan behavior in his defense, some would say once sbi/techno/tommy were canceled/semi-canceled. some might still say that mcytblr is the best side of the fandom, at least compared to reddit, tik tok, or twitter. those people might also say that there will never come a time when mcytblr implodes in a similar way that mcyttwt has been as of late (by as of late... i more mean since may lmao). but :shrugs:

fourth, that's an interest point, about going through fandoms' tags. i remember that, when i'd go through the tag of a new fandom i was interested in or that some of my followers/moots were posting a lot about, just out of curiosity, only to get jumpscared by whatever freaky shit people were posting on the main tag. i feel a bit the same when i go through some dream smp tags now. dream smp is fine. so are the tags for happy duo, wilbur soot, & anyone in badlands/eggpire. but sometimes i go through sbiblr, beeblr/booblr/enthusiastblr, dtblr tags and... just... for every 5 posts there'll be 1 guy who's just so fucking weird, posting some twitter-level take or freaky thing, and just... i can see the decline of the fandom, is all. i think it's inevitable, and i kinda don't wanna be around for when it reaches its lowest.

Wasn't trying to say we can't criticize Liam, just wondering where the pattern idea came from. We have one character (Vax) that is the only finished example to point to. Caleb's story is still in progress so tough to call either way. I hope it ends up better than the Vax situation, just pointing out that we don't know yet.

I don't understand why y'all come to talk to me about him when you aren't going to like what I say and are going to specifically ignore the patterns that are already there in his romantic preferences, it's like you need me to spell out the obvious for you and write an essay on why falling for the exterior-happy-girl and being grumpy about it until she caves and reciprocates his feelings isn't something his characters have a tendency to do throughout both campaigns while also, on the side, encouraging and exploiting the feelings of a purple mage for goods/spells. maybe don't try to make me feel like I'm delusional when really, im just good at being perceptive? it's like you need me to keep repeating myself for no reason at all just for the sake of provoking an argument that I don't wanna have. just because c2's character's arc hasn't ended YET doesn't mean ppl can't see where it is/was headed and where it could swerve given the circumstances or even player choices. he's not that unpredictable, I've discovered.

please stop talking to me about him like. it's ok u like him, I'm not stopping you. it's ok if u don't see the patterns and wanna live in wilful ignorance it's ok if his portrayal of his character feels like good rep to you. it doesn't to me and we can agree to disagree on that. so far, in c2 it's felt like he was gunning for the same kinda tropey romance as C1, but in the eventuality of it not working out since she is not someone he can wear down in that sense this time, he's going for the alternatives which are either his ex from the CA and if THAT doesn't work out he'll settle for the purple mage.

I'm allowed my assumptions, that are based on facts. I'm allowed to be weary bc I've been burned by content creators before and I've also witnessed explicitly better rep thats taught me I don't wanna fight for table scraps.
