thinking about how different rooks little brother naming himself after ben would have hit him if it was classic 10yo ben. like, I'm not sure if rook ben was 10 years old when he lost his b'inthak or younger, but like. ben 10 classic has a big theme of ben needing to learn to be a hero because it's right and helps people and not because its thrilling and cool

a young kid naming himself after ben in the classic era if ben was still in that era of learning to care because he should and not because being a hero is awesome like. imagine that. something would just click I feel like. like, its not a crowd of people cheering for him or people he'll never interact with that he saved from a burning building. its personal and this specific kid looks up to him and sees him as a REAL hero enough to name himself after him. ben would just have a wake up call I think. like this is what it's all about. not how cool it is and not kicking bad guys butt but this. it just fits so well with the arc he had in OS to not think about

Next season in english still has yet to air so have a scattered analysis on Mk’s relationship with touch and Monkey King’s VS the Six Eared Macaque’s teaching techniques and how they kinda interact with Mk while I cope 

(This is a very long post with a bunch of screenshots from the show so buckle up if you click the keep reading <3 bGKJAWMOEF) 

From the beginning we see Mk very touchy with his friends and they are touchy with him. Mei grabs him, picks him up, hugs him and leans into him with an easy familiarity that he hardly even seems to notice. Throughout the show we see the easy contact he has with his friends and the way he connects with them through touch. Touch almost doesn’t appear to be something Mk really registers to start out with. It’s just something that happens with friends and he accepts that readily and doesn’t even think about. It’s just another way of talking and connecting and it seems to be a rather big part of how he connects with people. 

Right off the bat, it’s established that Monkey King is a very touchy person as well. We start off the first meeting with his tail around Mk’s waist, picking him up, putting his hands on his shoulders to encourage him and he doesn’t seem to be all that bothered by Mk when he’s literally climbing him to poke his face. He even climbed on Mk’s shoulders and grooms his hair a bit during Bad Weather like its the most normal and naturally thing in the world. 

Their first bit of time really training together we start off with Monkey King dodging weaving and then quite literally throwing Mk into a mountain. 

Mk’s startled of course, screams the whole way down, but never once does he look hurt.

ON: 'THE OSHIMA PLOT'

Or: the Intergenerational Story, For Consideration and/or Integration into Plots and Dynamics

0. Preface

First and foremost (as with all RP), all of this is completely optional to integrate or even acknowledge. Moreover, I'm well aware the concept of 'canon' can be hard to figure out, especially wrt OCs, especially when they're fandomless/panfandom. (Especially x3 cases like this, where entire plot beats and aspects may be missing entirely from certain verses.)

But this 'Schrodinger's Integration' that is the web and history of the Oshima family and their relations is an entire Thing, and I enjoy it, and if anyone else may enjoy it, well. Here you go!

(P.S.: to help explain things, I'll liably compare them to how this shakes out when integrated into D.Gray-man. Knowledge of DGM isn't necessary, and I'll make briefer misc comparisons, but a detailed example of using/integrating the 'Oshima Plot' will be done via DGM.)

1. The Past (Lyra)

Once upon a time, Lyra Oshima was in fact the golden girl of her village, despite her parents being some of the rare 'outsiders' in their time. Then, at 15, she lost her parents—and awakened Shinrei. All at once the town turned on her (barring her best friend, Sarah), rumors snowballing from wondering how she was safe or blaming her for their deaths to framing her and her entire family as actually being witches or monsters or the cause for all their problems/'bad luck'.

Thus, she left home.

And, at this point, Lyra has her own plot: what she may later recall as grand heroics to her daughter, but in truth are more likely to be a corrupt person or organization that exploits her powers and may even force her to commit atrocities for them. This does, at least, allow her to meet her presumed husband (as well as Tomas, even if he seems to inexplicably betray them later).

In order to escape such a life, Lyra fakes her death and flees back to an isolated life in her hometown, exploiting their paranoia and tall tales (and the counterintuitiveness of ever returning to such an unsafe area) to obscure the truth of her actually being there.

And then, of course, history seems to repeat when her own children are left orphaned. (This may be at the hands of Tomas as he returns(?) to the plots they all ran away from, and/or for schemes of his own, or to nebulous natural causes which nonetheless has Tomas disappearing regardless.)

In example: Lyra lost her parents to Akuma and discovered her status as an Accomodator in the same attack (with Shinrei), and was promptly recruited by the Black Order as an Exorcist (affiliated Accomodator). She'd become an Exorcist General at 20 or so, but the atrocities the Order commited and would have her commit— especially back then— wore her down, and this is why she'd leave behind her friends to fake her death and escape. Moreover, Tomas's eventual collaboration with the Order's (and humanity's) archenemy, the Noah Clan, are presumed to be the reason for his murdering her.

Or: (Gangsta.) Lyra as a First Destroyer, many years ago; (Fire Emblem: Awakening) Lyra having served the previous Exalt and playing no small part in the atrociousness of his campaign.

2. The Present (Sasume)

(Note: I'll be brief here, as Sasume's background is primarily fixed, and very lengthy, and already accounted on her main page, so I'll not be redundent and recount the details here.)

Sasume, after a seemingly cyclical tragedy of a childhood akin to her mother's when she herself is orphaned, seems to be going her own way in life after leaving home. That accursed town is where Their 'shared' story seemed to have its roots after all, didn't it?

However, all may not be as well as it appears— not as well as Lyra would've wished— as Sasume may find herself walking headfirst into the very lion's den her mother had done so much to escape from many years ago...

In example: Sasume joins the Black Order as an Exorcist herself, in the present day, nebulously aware of her mother's exploits and friends but none of the horrors. She has no regrets, not really, she does believe in fighting for humanity's survival, after all—

Or: (Gangsta.) Sasume finding herself in Ergastulum, a 'home' for Twilights and thus prime target for the Destroyers; (FE: Awakening) Sasume being recruited by the prince and his Shepherds (if, mind, they're vastly different from the last Exalt).

3. The Future (Plots!)

Sasume's parents may be gone, but their legacy and connections are far reaching, and are liable to hold consequences for her into the present day. Perhaps it's mere recognition that 'should not' be and is thus deeply unsettling, or perhaps it makes her an out and out target by those she'd've never even guessed...

And/or perhaps Tomas's own schemes become apparent, one way or another, which leads to questions without answers and what little questions that can be answered are those of her compatriots wondering who how and why she knows him at all (if she even wants to divulge that much).

In example: Sasume serves as an Exorcist, and it seems straightforward enough. And then Tomas appears, having disappeared and abandoned them, too, after killing their mother, and viciously curbstomps her to get her out of the Noah's way. But whether it was an interrupted and failed murder attempt, or an accidentally overkill attempt to merely incapacitate temporarily, is hard to say. Either way, Tomas is as wont to give his Noah allies any answers (none) as he is Sasume herself. Nonetheless it makes her a person of interest— even moreso than she already was, daughter of a General turned apparent defectee—, on top of being viewed as some sort of threat(?) to be disposed of to the Noah themselves.

Or: (Gangsta.) Sasume discovering her immunity to Cerebret's side-effects, with the Destroyers recognizing her due to her uncanny resemblance to her mother; (Nasuverse/Fate/) her being not so disconnected from the 'magic world' as she so thought, with her mother— and their shared sword— being an in/famous weapon of the Church as an Executor, and promptly finding herself pulled into plots of her own.

Or: Perhaps Sasume's parents knew your muse, or their organization (or vice versa), and it gains her surprise reputation. Perhaps they were familiar to antagonists, leading them to hunt her and/or cast doubt on her in her allies' eyes. Anything is possible, really, until you find it out... :3c
