Bradford rolls his eyes. Never a dull moment with this fish, though. His golden eyes fixated on the fish for a while, pondering. Was he trying to be extra annoying today?

“Xever. You and I both know that you know better than to forget something Master Shredder tells us. Unlike the pig you are smart and know how to handle yourself in here and - why am I complimenting you?“

As much as the wolf loathes to admit it, the assassin was kept around for a reason. His street smarts did benefit the clan or some of their missions.

A slight shuffle of feet? His ears perk up instantly - indeed.

A low growl escapes his throat - snoofter? Whatever. He’s not gonna question it as he starts sniffing into the air. Xever was on to something.

“I smell the katana.“

Sniff sniff sniff.

His eyes squint. Wasn’t it said they were not from the Foot Clan?

“Whoever took it - that person used to be one of ours.“

Xever does some parkour to make his way up to the top using his acrobatics and legs to go ways normal humans could not. Once he got beside Raz he did a little flourish. Because Xever had to have Raz be his audience besides he knows Raz liked to grandstand a lot too.

"Oh yeah, that's what the mission was. See? This is why you're handy to have around. You remember all the stuff I can't. Doesn't that make you feel better? To be the good doggy who listens to Master Shredder?"

Xever then goes back to focusing his hearing tending to be the sense that got stronger from his mutation. It was about the only useful thing Xever got which was usesful on land. Otherwise most of the advantages were limited to water which Xever hated partly.

"Hey Raz, I hear something a slight shuffle of feet on the ground over there. Could be the one, could not be? Why don't you use your snoofter to find out?"

Xever laughed to himself, snoofter was basically a silly name for Raz's nose. He had heard the term somewhere but the word was funny to Xever so obviously he would use for his dog partner.

"The sound was around thereish I think..."

Xever pointed in a vague direction around to the west to soutwest.

Mini Rahzar Thoughts/Implications

This will go into some darker subject material, so if you don't like that kind of stuff you're free to go. Also quality may vary and I had no idea how to find subtitles when I took the screenshot so I had to add them afterwards from the transcript.

Basically the line that Rahzar said has been on my mind for a while, I’m surprised no one talks about which does imply something dark:

I don’t know about you, but that line raised an eyebrow to me.

To give context in the episode City at War(season 4 episode 15) when Karai and Shinigami were held hostage by Tigerclaw, Xever asks what they should do to the girls to which Rahzar suggests that they should eat them.

Notice how he said, “You can never go wrong”, as though he’s done it before. As though he knew what it’s like to do so and that you can "never go wrong".

Had this imply that Rahzar had eaten people before?

And even TvTropes had noticed it:

And here was Chris Bradford, absolutely dumbfounded how he got into this situation in the first place.

"....You seem oddly calm to have a rotten skeleton dog in your office."

And here was Chamomile; waiting for the other to respond to her question... It does not matter who her patient was regardless if they were a cookie or a creature she did not know...

All that matter to her was helping the other to talk through their feelings and feel better.

Splinter has fallen.

On the same day where he almost drowned, his master managed to get rid of the rat that plagued his mind. All that remained was the turtles. One last battle.

Everyone knew their positions. It was Xever and him as usual at the start. Next would be Stinkman, the rhino and the warthog, Tigerclaw and then the final boss - if they would make it this far. Rahzar was not planning to let them get far.

As usual, the wolf was mostly focused on his nemesis, Michelangelo while Xever was busy taking care of Raphael.

With the occasional turtles or obligatory human allies trying to jump in.

Bradford was not sure when it happened, but Michelangelo managed to knock him out during the battle. Not even holding back this time, are they? He couldn’t say he blamed them considering the loss of their sensei.

It’s eerily silent when he awakens again.

Which means they already moved on, which means …

“Xever?”

His eyes scanned the area. His ears picking up the gasping sounds of someone unable to breathe.

Oh.

They really didn’t plan on holding back this time. Xever‘s legs are entirely torn apart and the breathing device is ripped off. From the looks of it he had tried to drag himself into the water, but he doesn’t appear to be moving anymore?

Bradford knew he was still alive though - he was still struggling to breathe.

Rahzar’s snarl cuts through the air. No way in hell would he let Xever slip away after the fish saved him from drowning.

“You are not gonna die on my watch, you - "

Another fierce snarl erupts from Rahzar as he leaps toward Xever, grabbing him a bit forcefully by the tail to toss him into the water.

How did things became like that? When they were first teamed up, all Bradford wanted was to get the mission done. The sooner that street rat was out of his sight, the better. Then they turned into mutants and were still forced to work together.

Dogpound used any opportunity he could get to make fun of the predicament of that fish. Even as Rahzar, the two of them don’t get entirely along but he has become someone Bradford could tolerate the presence of.

Xever was his rival, somehow a driving force to motivate him. An outlet. Infuriating, yes, but where would Bradford be without that constant push and pull?

Xever managed to keep things interesting.

It has become almost as important as his oath to the Foot.

“Move. I refuse to let you die after you saved me. We are even now."

The wolf appears to be in a very deep slumber and makes sleeping dog noises while he is at it.

Shredder's whole deal is that he recruits people at their lowest point. In one of the older movies he took in street kids "you are here because the outside world rejects you" (and in the series its Tatsu, TC and Xever) and it genuinely makes me wonder how on earth he got his hands on Bradford.

He is the only one who did not got a backstory considering Shredder taught him for years and molded him in his image.

How do you go from an actor and animator who portrays himself as a hero in his cartoon to Shredder's top henchman.

If Shredder taught him for years and Bradford is considered a martial arts superstar, it would imply that the fame was only because of his master.

Their Future for Rahzar 👀

Their Future.

Where and who do they want to be? Is it somewhere else than where they are right now in their life? What is their ideal future like anyway? Do they have loved ones they wish to spend days and years with?

In his ideal future, they have long finished the turtles (and he got to finish his turtle nemesis personally of course) and Splinter and he reclaimed his position in the Foot Clan, earning back the respect he lost from his master. Bradford was chosen to be one of Shredder’s successors and he wants to fulfill that purpose no matter what.

But he also wants to be Chris Bradford again. He is not planning to stay forever in the form of that beast. Basically, a future where Master Shredder is proud to call him his student again instead of a disgrace to the clan and he can be Chris Bradford once more so he can interact with others again. ‘Friends’ ? Family? Co-workers? Fans? Who knows, but he definitely had other people in his life that he likely would like to interact in person again and not online. Maybe enter some championships again.
