Relena walked into Viserys chamber unannounced, calm eyes lying upon the man until her spoke. Upon hearing his voice, the woman's eyebrows rose slightly. She remained silent for a moment. "You seem to be forgetting that you are not just speaking to your wife, but your queen.", Relena reminded him. She took a deep breath, before continuing to speak. "I am with child.", she informed him. With this child, their marriage had found success... at least of some kind. The houses of Baratheon and Targaryen would unite their blood once more and the succession would be settled once and for all. "You have done your duty to the kingdom. The announcement will be made in a fortnight.", the queen explained. She then soon turned around and tried to leave the room. For her, the pregnancy was the fulfilment of her duties. She would give her people an heir and peace, but she also knew of the danger in this. For one, most women did not survive childbirth and even if she did, she was giving birth to her replacement. If she died once this child was born, it could take her place and she was certain, for some this was favourable.

He recalled the day he had stormed into her chambers. It had been months since he'd reclaimed his home and his throne through marrying the Usupers daughter. They hadn't gotten along well but she had been polite as she could be until he entered how he did.

"We need to consumate our marriage. Another moon goes by and people will talk if we have no child at any point by the end of our first year of marriage" He knew logic was better then emotions to get to Relena, least that's what he thought he knew about her.

But now it's Relena who storms into his chambers, they spent more time together though inside the bedroom was still scarce. "What is it now?" Irritation filled his voice as lilac eyes stared at her, waiting for her reply as he put down the bread he'd snuck from the kitchen as they were fresh baked ans had been slowly ripping bits from to eat.

G Witch's Cinematic Rhythm and the Poetic Edda

You might have noticed or seen someone highlight the rhyming shots in Gundam The Witch from Mercury. If you don't know what I mean, I refer to the repeated usage of rhyming shots such as these

Important moments echoed and distorted, rhyming with each other. These are just a couple flagrant examples but hardly alone. When you look close, G Witch loves to do this clever bit of repetition throughout. But what's its purpose? A mere stylistic choice, might be your first assumption. I suspect it's meant to invoke something specific.

Because as I've discussed in my G Witch Norse analysis, the show appears to partly follow beats of Norse Myth (link to examples). And from these rhyming shots, call to mind the Poetic Edda. The Poetic Edda is a collection of tales, skaldic poetry, and songs featuring the mythological exploits of Norse gods and hero-cycles. It features alliterative poetry; echoing but different. The same as the rhyming shots above.

This isn't limited to its episodes either, but also in the various homages to past gundams, such as Miorine being a distorted echo of Relena Peacecraft (link to my analysis on the subject), her relationship with Suletta mirroring Utena/Anthy (RGU) and Miranda/Ferdinand. (The Tempest)

Considering the other influences within the show, The Tempest and Utena respectively, this theme of cycles and rhyme is perpetuated. Revenge, systematic abuse/oppression; metered verse and fantastic tales of witches, royalty, and love blooming within the dark ugliness of humanity. Its rhyming structure becomes nothing short of brilliance.

WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN?

First off, neat right? But what will it mean in the grand scheme of G Witch. Consider the Poetic Edda is not a coherent narrative but an amalgamation of stories/skaldic poetry that flows past, present, and future. It simultaneosly tells of Ragnarok or the twilight of the gods, the strife between the Aesir and the Vanir then unification through a marriage between Odin and Frigg/Freya. Similar to the Tempest where Prospero rescinds his plans for revenge upon the union of Miranda and Ferdinand.

This tale ebbs and flows and so do its references within G Witch. Yet I suspect the show's end will likely mirror the most prominent beats-- The End of the Gods, which could mean Benerit Group/Permet weaponry/Spacians, peace and unification between Spacians (Aesir) and Earthians (Vanir) and of course if Miorine becomes president that would make her Odin within the spacian pantheon; a Queen as Relena becomes in Gundam Wing.

Sooo... I had two ideas of au verses for Relena One in which the war was stopped before too much damage happened, Lyanna wrote to her family, Rhaegar returned to the capitol in order to usurp his father, Robert and Ned return to their Strongholds and Robert marries Cersei, on the advice of Jon Arryn and Cersei frequently visits the Red Keep to see her beloved Brother OR Robert is set to marry Cersei right from the start bc their parents (who used to be good friends in their youth) arranged it before Steffon died, and he was obliged to stay true to his father's words, despite preferring Lyanna, so once word gets to the warring sides that Lyanna wasn't kidnapped, Rhaegar is able to usurp his father and claim the crown

and my mother idea was

that Lyanna makes it out alive, Ned has to claim that Jon is his son, Lyanna has to marry Roberts and become queen and Relena is their daughter {tbh I mainly came up with this idea bc @coerulus suggested an alternative fc I would like to use}
