CLOWN TROUPE MASTERPOST (PART 1)
Tumblr media
CHECKERS
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Lesbian
Species: Party Clown
Info: Checkers was my very first clown! She came from the same litter as Chess, and they get along quite nicely. Checkers took Boysenberry as a mate it seems, and their favorite past time is tending to the young clowns of the troupe like mothers!
Tumblr media
CHESS
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Heterosexual, Transgender
Species: Mime
Info: Chess was hatched a purebred Party Clown along with Checkers, but seems to prefer the Mimes. Save for her sister, Mimes are about the only clowns that Chess seems to get along with, and even changed her markings to mimic them and their behavior patterns. The vets say she's perfectly healthy socially and physically, so I let her do whatever she likes!
Tumblr media
BOYSENBERRY
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Lesbian
Species: Harlequin
Info: Boysenberry is a bit of a wildcard and loves making a mess of the tent, but interestingly enough shows strong motherly instincts to the younger members of the troupe!
Tumblr media
BLUE
Pronouns: He/She
Sexuality: Bisexual
Species: Harlequin
Info: Blue keeps most often to himself. If he's seen at all with the other clowns, it's always Boysenberry or Wisteria!
Tumblr media
BLASPHEMY
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Bisexual
Species: Stiltwalker
Info: Blasphemy is a fragile soul and will go out of his way to not get into fights. He's a bit of a clumsy fellow as well, nearly tangling himself in his legs on occasion and tripping over his shoes. He's often the butt of the joke when the other clowns play, but he's an honest and interesting little guy!
Tumblr media
CHARLES
Pronouns: He/They
Sexuality: Bisexual
Species: Dwarf Stiltwalker
Info: Charles is an odd case in terms of his species, a rare Dwarf Stiltwalker! His legs may be short, but he makes up for it with his big personality, often trying to socialize with everyone he meets!
Tumblr media
BIG BOUREGARD
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Homosexual
Species: Party clown
Info: Big Bouregard is an unusually large Party Clown that was taken back to the shelter after his original owner abandoned him after two days for continuously knocking over their things accidentally. From what I hear, his previous owner had him in a crate at the back of their cramped apartment, and I've noticed that he is a quite careful thing when given the appropriate space!
Tumblr media
WISTERIA
Pronouns: She/It
Sexuality: Aromantic
Species: Harlequin
Info: Wisteria is a floating Harlequin mask that seems to have been inhabited by a spirit of the same species. She goes out in the day and returns home at night and never requires food or water, but does quite enjoy tracing pentagrams and latin phrases on the floors!

Forgotten Perseverance - Chapter VI
Masterpost
Prologue Previous
Katharina's condition is slowly improving, but she still can't move much. Even with the help of magic, the broken leg, will not heal in one day. She will be kept company by Saera, a monster working in Dr. W. D. Gaster's laboratory. How will Katharina feel in the company of the new monster? Will she be able to discover the reason for Sansa's distancing from humans? What other silly ideas will Kath come up with, in the absence of skeletons?
19 August 1994
I will accept this date as real, despite it not being certain.
Yesterday evening, after being overcome with fever, was spent in a pleasant family atmosphere. That was really unexpected. Did I expect something different?  It's hard to even say what, but not an usual evening. It seemed somehow out of place at least for me.
I was watching their TV series with my brothers " skeletons. They didn't have many serials to enjoy or cartoons. For that they had an interesting collection of cassettes. Lots of children's films, but also lots of adventure films. We would watch some cartoon, while talking about quite common topics.
The older of the brothers, Sans knows how to cook very well according to Papyrus, who couldn't stop complimenting his brother's pancakes. Papyrus, on the other hand, has a lot of interests. Sans only commented on this as a straw man.
The older of the brothers was much harder to decipher than the younger. Papyrus was a child. A simple, trusting creature who I liked immediately.
Sans, on the other hand, is an enigma to me. At some points he seems to force the conversation, especially if it's just between us. He relaxes a lot more if Papyrus joins in. I got the feeling that if Papyrus hadn't been with us all evening then Sans wouldn't have spoken to me at all. I didn't really understand this hostility on his part.
The distance was clear to me " I was a stranger. He didn't know me, but that didn't mean he was going to dislike me.
Did the people who were here before me do something wrong?
I don't know, but I need to find out. I would like to understand them better. To learn about their world and history. I'm more likely to stay here for more than a few days. From what I understand the monsters have been trapped under the mountain for hundreds of years.
Monsters are new to me. Are they like the fairy tales I heard before bedtime as a child? Or are their souls white because they symbolise mercy?
And if souls do exist and have their own colours then what colour is mine?
I wonder if I will ever know what colour my soul represents....
                                                                                ...
But I'd better describe this day. Because it was quite unusual. If that's even still possible.
Where should I start?
It will be easier if I start with this morning.
I got up late because the skeletons were no longer in the house. Yesterday I found out that Sans and Papyrus were going to school and Mr Gaster was going to work. I didn't even suspect that they had a school here. I guess that's normal, since they form a society. During their absence, some friend of Mr Gaster's was supposed to be with me.
I got to know this friend pretty quickly.
As I rose, a tall monster woman came into the room. She reminded me of a pink lizard without arms. On her head she had something like spikes? I don't know how I would describe it. It resembled a bit of a whiskers that some dinosaurs had. She also had a pink bow on her head. She was dressed in a checkered dress with different shades of pink.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" She asked with a smile on her lips.
I was slightly confused by that situation. I didn't know her, however she's a friend of Mr Gaster's. I was a bit nervous about talking to strangers, and even more so with monsters. I wasn't really used to them.
"G-good," I said, or rather howled.
Not that I was afraid of her! Well, maybe a little. I preferred to keep a safe distance. After all, not everyone can treat me like Mr Gaster.
"Relax, I don't bite." she said.
She figured me out pretty quickly. But my mother always said that someone could read me like an open book....
My parents, I wonder what they're doing now? They are probably worried. How did they react? Did anyone go looking for me? Well, knowing my parents, they immediately went to the police as soon as Peter and Jennifer told them. I have my doubts about them finding me. Previously, other people have disappeared around Mount Ebott, there have been searches, but no one has ever been found. Not even bodies. I might never see them again.
I may never see my sister again. I think Cornelia already knows about my... disappearance. She probably had to return from the camp early because of me.
It's a bit difficult for me to describe something nice when I feel awful. But I have to. I have no one to talk to here. They won't understand. Their lives are not in ruins. They are at home surrounded by family and I have lost mine.
Even if I told someone it wouldn't change anything. Words won't change anything. They won't turn back time. For now, I don't know what to do. I don't know this world. I need to find out more about it. And what I have managed to hear from this pink monster.
"My name is Saera," the lizard woman said more calmly. She was sitting next to me on the sofa. We were having breakfast together. Simple sandwiches that required no culinary skills. She was just explaining to me who she was. "I have an internship with Dr Gaster. Usually, now I would be working with Mrs Resme..." I noticed that Saera liked to talk.
Most of the things she said to me were irrelevant as well as there were just too many to remember it all. It's fair to say that I drifted off during her monologue, but I did manage to catch a few intriguing things.
The entire Underworld is surrounded by a barrier that no human or monster can cross.
Several people had already fallen here before de me. This agreed with the people who disappeared in my town near the mountain.
What surprised me most was Chara's story. I didn't know her personally, I was too young to remember her. However, many people told me what went on at her home, or rather guesses. Everything was connected by her alcoholic father. I heard that she was quite a difficult child. I was surprised that here she became a princess - a helpful and loving person, in the town she didn't have a flattering opinion. Perhaps here she finally had the opportunity to be herself? She died of a mysterious illness. And her goat brother Asriel as a result of injuries inflicted on him by humans.
It was strange. It felt like Saera was talking about a completely different person. The truth is, everything I know about Chara could be gossip.
Another shocker was the royal decree - to kill any human who fell into the Underworld. Saera said this by accident. Immediately as it happened she became confused.
"I shouldn't scare you like that." she said quickly.
"Doctor Gaster said that you are under his care. He is a royal scientist, so no one will contradict him." she added, putting her hand on my shoulder. "No one will do anything to you."
This news shook me a little. It made me fearful at first, but I was reminded of Mr Gaster's words. He promised that I would be safe. If he wanted to kill me, he wouldn't have healed me. I was only curious as to why King Asgore had so ordered.
"But why did your king so order?" It seemed to me that my question surprised her.
Perhaps she was expecting some sort of panic scene? Through karate training I have learnt to analyse situations coldly. In a fight, showing your uncertainty or fear to your opponent can contribute to losing. In life it has been similar.
After a long while, Saera told me about the rest of the fallen people. About the leaving of Queen Toriel and the actions of the Brave. It helped me to understand the feelings of the monsters, but that didn't give them the right to kill. I had mixed feelings about them. Innocent people (with the exception of Brave) died for someone else's mistakes. I also didn't like how they objectified the rest of the people, Patience and Honesty. Brave got what he deserved. Especially for how he hurt Gaster's family.  I could now somehow understand Sansa's hostility.
The things Brave did to them were unforgivable!
Mr Gaster is a surprising monster. After what people did to him " how he nearly lost his family, he was able to trust me. He gave me a chance. I can't waste it.
But back to my conversation with Saere.
"I suspect out of fear and a desire to protect his people." my companion said calmly. After a moment, however, she became confused and fell silent.
"Has something happened?" I asked.
"Could this conversation stay between us?" asked the monster uncertainly."I was supposed to look after you, not scare you".
"This will be our girlish secret." I said.
That was fine with me too. From what I found out, Mr Gaster wouldn't tell me about it for any reason. Maybe out of fear, maybe out of concern. I'm not sure. However, I preferred to know. I don't like not having a clear situation outlined. Without it, I feel like I'm wandering.
Now everything is slowly becoming clearer. However, I still know too little. I can't predict. I don't know what will happen to me here, whether someone will break out and kill me. But for now I am safe. But what next?
...
Back to the rest of the day, until the skeleton"brothers returned from school I had a nice time with Saera. I took a liking to her, even though she is a talkative person. I also found out that we were in the snow city of Snowdin. Not much of an original name.
Just like the rest of it. Hotland " a place full of lava, hot rocks and high temperatures. Waterfall " a land with many rivers and lakes and, of course, as the name suggests, waterfalls. Core " the core, the power source of the entire Underground. New House " the capital of the Underworld. King of the Monsters with a poor talent for coming up with names.
Apart from that, we played some games, that lay under the TV.
...
Around two a.m. the skeleton brothers returned.
"Hello Katharina!" shouted Papyrus, still standing in the threshold.
"Paps, don't stand in the doorway"' admonished Sans, standing just behind him.
Papyrus stepped inside, quickly taking off his jacket. He tried to throw it on the hanger, but missed. He immediately ran up to me, hugging me in greeting. A little surprised, I returned his hug.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Sans taking up Paps' jacket. For a moment our eyes met, but he quickly turned away.
Now at least I understand his behaviour. I really felt sorry for him. People have shown him a really bad side. I have to make it right. Not all people are bad.
"Well, I have to go." Saera announced, getting up from the sofa.
"Why? " Paps asked her with a slight sadness in his voice. "We've only just arrived."
"I was supposed to look after your friend until you got home,' announced the lizard woman, heading towards the hanger. "I'd love to stay with you longer, but I promised Mrs Resme I'd help her in the lab this afternoon," she added.
On the hanger hung a light pink coat with fur at the collar. Suddenly a pink glow surrounded it. It began to levitate! It really floated in the air and enveloped Saere. It was amazing! I realised it was her magic. However, I will come back to further events. Saere seeing Paps' sad face quickly added.
"But I will stay with you longer tomorrow. "
At these words Papyrus immediately beamed. If that is at all possible with skeletons.
Saera said goodbye to Sans and left.
I have to say she's a really cool person. Very talkative and I wasn't bored with her. Afterwards, I helped out a bit with dinner. It's actually a bit funny.
Papyrus sat next to me, forced by his brother to do his homework. And Sans went into the kitchen to take care of dinner.
I am one of those people who, despite being ill, cannot sit still.  My parents used to say that it was best to chain me to my bed to rest. I very much disliked sitting.
Today was no different, and in particular I felt surprisingly well.  I thought the broken leg would bother me more, or that I would be tired after yesterday's fever. Mr Gaster said it appeared from stress, and that the drip he was disconnecting in the evening had a special medicine that was supposed to heal my leg. How it was supposed to work, I didn't really know. The only answer I got was "magic". Normally I would have taken this ironically, but rather in this case it really was magic.
Boredom impacts on my imagination. It stimulates it even more. And I came up with an interesting idea.
"Papyrus, do you happen to have a chair on wheels at home?" I asked.
The skeleton looked at me slightly puzzled.
"Yes, but what do you need it for? "
"I hate being bored, and sitting on the sofa does that.
A chair on wheels, on the other hand, guarantees a lot of fun." I replied with a smile.
My head is full of strange ideas and this is one of them.
Paps was silent for a moment, but agreed. He quickly ran to the storage room located under the stairs. A few minutes later I had located myself on my 'vehicle'.
Papyrus made me a piece of paper with the word 'chairmobile' on it, which we attached to the chair with sticky tape.
I supported myself with my hands against the chair"back and pushed off from the floor with my healthy leg. In this way I found myself at the entrance to the kitchen. Papyrus stood next to me and together we watched Sans bustling around the kitchen.
"You think he could probably use our help, don't you?" I asked. The youngster looked at me a little angry. I don't think he liked household chores, but why be surprised. What child his age would like to clean instead of going to play. However, through my friendship with Jena, I learned that toddlers can be easily outsmarted to do what others tell them to do. "The Great Papyrus, afraid to face such a challenge?"
"Great?" he asked slightly puzzled, yet pleased with the term.
"Well, yes. I thought that someone so helpful and compassionate was The Great and not afraid to face any challenge." I turned my back on him."But if it's beyond you, then tough," I finished, moving slightly away from the kitchen entrance.
The kid was silent, however, I am sure he is analysing my words.
"It's decided! The Great Papyrus accepts this challenge!" he shouted.
Out of the corner of my eye I watched him. As he uttered these words his eyes.... eye sockets? seemed to flicker.
I turned to him with a smile. It promised to be a lot of fun and so it was. However, I started to doubt when Sans appeared next to us.
"Papy, why are you shouting like that?" Asked Sans brother and then looked at me. Well... I have to admit that he was quite surprised to see me in a chair with wheels and a sign saying 'chairmobile'. "What is this? Has the fever returned?" He added, pointing a wooden spoon at me.
"What can't you see?" I asked, pulling up to him. "It's a chair"mobile. It will help me move around until my bones heal. "
"Unless you want to break them again," Sans said. "You'd better get back on the sofa before you will hurt yourself." He added, returning to the kitchen. "And you Paps get back to your lesson. "
Papyrus stomped his foot in displeasure. I admit I was also angry with Sans for not wanting our help, but my luck favoured me today.
Sans had to go out to the shop to get the missing ingredients.
"I'm going to the market," he said, putting on his jacket. He looked at us with serious eyes. "You are not to cause any trouble in my absence, understood?"
"Yes, captain!"
I shouted, saluting the skeleton.
Sans just rolled his eyes.... eye sockets? I don't even know how to describe it. I have a bit of a problem with that.
Paps, on the other hand, laughed quietly. Then Sans left, and I put my plan into action. A few minutes after the older brother left, I discovered myself with a blanket.
"And what are you waiting for?" I asked, grinning at Papy. The youngster looked at me uncertainly at first, but quickly grasped what I meant. He took the chair out of the cupboard again, which Sans had hidden. "Let's do it, The Great Papyrus! Time to make dinner!" I called out entering the kitchen.
I looked around it. Sans had started to make the meal, but didn't manage to prepare much. It seemed to me that he had just broiled the meat and was probably getting down to some sauce.
I smiled from ear to ear. I already knew what I was supposed to do.
...
I am an idiot.
That was the only thought that has haunted me since leaving the shop. You must be wondering why? That's what's really interesting. Maybe funny to some people. I was really unlucky that day. And although I'm not superstitious, I started to believe that bad luck was haunting me.
First I went to the shop. There is only one market in Snowdin, quite close to my house. Just a ten"minute walk.
Everything looked normal. I went in, took the necessary things and headed for the checkout. Yeah... But I didn't get there as quickly as I thought I would. In the middle of the day, an employee must have been bored.
He had washed the floor in one of the departments, but had left no sign anywhere that the floor was wet. I dashed into the compartment that was the quickest way to the checkouts. I didn't want to waste a moment. I was starting to get a bad feeling about leaving Kath and Paps alone in the house. That chair of hers, made me start to worry if her head was okay.  I wondered if I should broach the subject with my father when he returned.
Running in a wet corridor usually ends badly and in my case was no exception.
I slipped.
Falling, I instinctively grabbed onto the nearest ledge. I landed on the ground, and next to me " and on me " kilos of flour. I could not have hit it better. Nor did I have to look into the basket to know that the eggs had not survived the fall.
After a while, an employee appeared. A rather short individual, resembling a spaceship, brown in colour. Instead of helping me he scolded me.
"What are you doing, you brat! " cried the indignant monster. " Can't you see that there is a freshly mopped floor! "
Everyone has their limits.I had mine too, and at this point they were over. Although I can now say that I over"reacted a little too harshly. " You know, if some imbecile had remembered to leave a message.
Sometimes I could be quiet... After this an argument broke out between us and it was not without some epithets. I don't think I need to say which ones.
There was also quite a crowd gathered around us. Everyone watched us in silence, not reacting at all, until the manager appeared. Mr Bront Snow " monster, looking like a big, snow"white bird. He is currently the grandfather of a certain neighbourhood kid, Snowdrike.
"You two to my office. " Mr Snow showed us in.
I felt in my bones that I was going to be in no small amount of trouble. With my head hung, I went behind the manager, and next to me didn't walk this employee " Terry. Maybe some of you have guessed that this individual is related to Jerry. Yes. That's his father.
If someone were to hold a competition in pissing off monsters these two would take first place. After all, Jerry must have learned this behaviour from someone.
Mr Terry walked beside me with a sneer. It was as if he thought he could lay it all on me and he'd be fine.
If I knew then what I know today....
At the time I thought I was just unlucky in the worst sense of the word.
Mr Snow asked for the whole situation to be explained to him calmly. But with Mr Terry, that is not possible. Like a man on fire, he stood up from his chair, waving his short arms.
"This little bastard walked onto the wet floor and destroyed the shelf! He also spilled flour in the process! He has no respect for my work and time! " he shouted at full volume. As if that would make any difference.
I tried to sit quietly and wait for my turn. I didn't want to make my situation even worse with a pointless argument, but further words took me out of balance.
" And on top of that he didn't even deign to look at the sign! " announced Terry with great reproach. He made me very angry. There was no sign there! I'm not blind! And I'd give my bones that it wasn't there!
"Don't act like a saint! It wasn't there at all! " I shouted, standing up abruptly. We started arguing again.
We didn't even notice when Mr Bront took the phone and called somewhere. I'm not sure how long that lasted.
"Sans, can you explain to me what's going on here? " Asked my father calmly, standing in the doorway.
I looked in his direction. He was still wearing his apron. Mr Snow must have torn him away from his work. A shudder ran through my bones. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a mean grin on Mr Terry's face.
"You'll get paid for your shit,' he said to me, heading for the exit.
"Mr Terry, we're not done talking yet,' the manager said sternly.
The confused monster looked uncertainly at his employer and then sat down. The father, on the other hand, stood behind me.
"Sans, can you now tell us what happened there? " Mr Bront asked already calmly.
The expression on Terry's face suddenly changed. He furrowed his eyebrows angrily.
"Why are you still asking this snot! He should get a good beating,' the employee said.
"Don't tell me how to educate my son " said the father, looking at Terry obliquely. I saw fear in the monster's eyes.
" Don't take the plunge,' announced Mr Snow, and then added, looking at me. " 'Go ahead, start.
I calmly recounted how things had gone. Every so often, Mr Terry, tried to interrupt me, but his father's murderous gaze stopped him.
About half an hour later, we left the manager's office. Terry tried to challenge my words, so a nervous Mr Snow, checked the CCTV recording. And it was me who won. Mr Terry had to apologise to us and pay out of his own pocket for the damage, and I got free shopping.
It wasn't until we left the shop that I found out I had lost, as much as an hour and a half.
"Dad, we'd better hurry," I said slightly stressed.I already had millions of tragic scenarios in my head concerning Paps and Kath.
" Why?" asked a puzzled father.
"They're alone in the house, and Kath has made up her mind that she can ride on the swivel chair,' I announced with a little fright in my voice.
My father acknowledged my point. He touched my shoulder. Everything happened in a flash. A purple magic surrounded us and we found ourselves in the kitchen. What we saw honestly surprised us, but in a good way.
On the table were plates with a generous portion of spaghetti carbonara. It was still steaming. Next to the oven with their backs turned to us were Katharina and Papyrus.
"In five minutes the chocolate cake will be ready,' the teenager announced.
" I hope they will enjoy it! " said the youngster.
"You can be sure of that " said the father calmly.
Kath did not expect this and jumped up abruptly in her chair. She turned tense together with Paps, who as soon as he saw us ran up to greet us.
"How are you here?" Kath looked at us completely confused.
"Magic " I said briefly, adding the shopping to the countertop. The girl looked at me a little embarrassed.
"I guessed that myself," she said." I meant to explain it.
"It's easy," said her father, and began to explain. He was very fond of explaining things. The appearance of Kath gave him such an opportunity. He has long since exhausted us with these magical innovations. " It is something like teleportation. Few can use such complex magic. Magical particles have to surround the entire surface of a person or object, once this is done you have to know where to move to. We imagine a destination and the particles carry us there.
Throughout the 'lecture' Katharina listened attentively. She absorbed every word her father said.
Even Paps listened to his father like a spell.
"Listen.I know you are enchanted by our arrival, but I am hungry. Can we eat now?" I said.
"Do you have to do this even at dinner!" Stomped his foot angrily Paps.
Paps laughed. He was always amused by my jokes, after all we were able to have a competition in telling jokes. Out of the corner of my eye I glanced at Kath. She smiled slightly.
I figured that if she was amused by my rusks then she wasn't that bad or had a similar sense of humour.  She'd also made dinner, so it wasn't appropriate to be mean.
Little by little I was winning her over.
Nothing strange happened during the meal except that, according to her father, Katharina's bones would knit together within a week.
"But how so? I thought it would take at least a month," she announced surprised and fascinated at the same time.
"Although your skeleton has a different structure, it reacts in the same way as ours to healing magic," explained her father.
"That's fantastic! NEXT WEEK I'LL BE ABLE TO SHOW YOU SNOWDIN! " shouted the rescued Papyrus. Sometimes my brother underplays himself for me.
"You rather wanted to say Sansastically,' I said, dodging a plate of spaghetti.

A little miracle, Tossed into a big, wild world.
Melody is the shining example of a “super-fly”—she speaks, thinks and feels as a human child would, and she ages at the same pace. Her creator she calls Father raises her in secret as his daughter and the first true success of his classified experiment. But when he leaves one day and doesn’t return, Melody is discovered by escaping lab animals and taken along with them out of the laboratory and into the real world, where she’s left with a difficult choice: find her way back home, or find a new place and purpose on her journey to get there.

Writing Masterpost
Canon-Compliant Original Fiction
albatross: my longest fiction piece to date (6-7k words). link is the info post with all chapters, description can be found there.
bonus: visual profiles and notes for the original and not-quite original characters introduced in albatross
Canon-Divergent Original Fiction
burn it: not as long as albatross but still lengthy! same deal, link is the info post with all chapters and the description can be found there.
Canon-Adjacent Short Writing
the snare: technically can be read as speculative for Thrawn (2017) but accessible to those who haven’t read the book or have no familiarly with Star Wars at all
still on patrol: about a Star Wars vessel but you could probably read this without knowing any context beyond ghost ship cool.
Rebels Sequel Content
rebels sequel script: it’s in the dropbox link. ask me about the free program I used!
rebels sequel skeleton notes: more later-season plotlines and more discussion of themes
rebels sequel rogues gallery: breakdown of the thematic importance of various villains I would include given full creative control and permission from original creators + ability to adequately compensate them
more on bakokin tell: an original villain warrants more explanation
In Which I Describe the Content of a Thrawn-Adjacent Book Austistically
gender systems in Zahn’s books: long-ish brief look at fandom behaviors in relation to original text
deuteragonist meta: she’s even color-coded. I got diagnosed like a year later btw
outbound flight and survivor’s quest: I read some books in apparently the wrong order and made some themes about it
In Which I Describe the Content of a Thrawn-Adjacent Book Comedically
hand of thrawn duology: what it says on the tin
more of that but blended canon and EU this time: can you guess which books and characters I’m talking about? find out by clicking on the link!
alliances: hey it’s darth vader this time! everybody look at darth vader
alliances again: I think this one was actually the first like chronologically
Stand-Alone Content
thrawn gender rambling: approaches incoherence with astonishing speed. still, important to me
thrawn terrible childhood rambling: I’ll never pass up a chance to make him thematically better and emotionally worse
x files comparison: have you ever wondered what would happen if fox mulder had net zero swag? wonder no longer.
eli no bitches??? rambling: I think he genuinely has never had any friends. click the link to see me make my case
chess and checkers: more eli. checkers is very swagful to me
semiextragalactic force sensitivity rambling: brief speculation on support systems for parents of force sensitive children in communities detached from the Jedi Order
bonus: theoretical clone wars episode based on similar concept
hey so what’s the deal with the grafs actually: I read the whole adventures in wild space series and I’m still very skeptical of the whole everything
hey more wild space stuff: I see Lysatra and I put my looking eyes on
thoughts on modern vs classic star wars evil: on the heels of kenobishow, I had some thoughts
an interesting line construction in the Ronin novel, catalogued: also what it says on the tin
review of Shadow of the Sith: in short, there was a good bit I didn’t like
my Lesser Evil theory: so I was wrong. what about it?
the force as an overwriting pen: two small blurbs about being toyed with by something inconceivably more than you
luminous beings: a series of blurbs about non-force-sensitive acquiring force sensitivity
similarities between the Chiss and the Romans: I’ve been studying Latin for six years and I have problems about it
Hey, This Isn’t Star Wars
monsters vs aliens is a transgender allegory: you know I’m right.
you know surf’s up? the penguin movie? trans. gender. allegory: YOU KNOW I’M RIGHT. also, I know it’s not really writing. sue me

The text below is an updated version of the rules (est. Aug/02/2024).
Rules:
[Last update: 28/Sep/2024]
Thank you for passing by and please read all of this page, because some etiquette & info are present here:
I'm Ni/digitalgate02 (She/They) and I am 20+ so I ask you If you are underage please leave because I will not interact with you & if you do not I will softblock and maybe block you if you insist.
→ Personal blogs are not allowed to reblog ANYTHING in this account that are threads, ooc posts or posts made for this account exclusively. You can follow and send asks, but if you reblog anything that's not reblogs of art on purpose you will be blocked.
→ NO BASHING/DUNKING ON ANY SERIES/MOVIES/MANGA/GAMES, OR CHARACTERS OR SHIPS. OR "DUB VS SUB" DISCOURSE -- Also I won’t tolerate hateful comments or behavior towards myself or any RPer fellow as well.
※ I have so little to zero knowledge of the American dub of any digi-series. I will only work with the Japanese version or Brazilian dub.
※ I go with JP terminology & names, but I’m totes fine with dub names. If you start a thread with them, I’ll tag along with it. But if I’m the one starting it I’ll go with what I’m used to.
※ I go by canon divergent for certain material like WS games and ▽, as example. By the way, I'd like to go by what was said by my friend Shiha when it comes to canon and non-canon stuff.
→ I don’t ship human/digimon, adult/minor, incest and I might block if you ship it. I multiship things though! Each verse with multiple muses can have different relationships (platonic, romantic, family, rivals, enemies, etc??) -- but i don't write sm/ut.
→ I'm OC, AU, Canon Divergent and Crossover friendly, but I'd like to know your muses first. [check the crossover list for stuff I have minimal knowledge about btw!]
→ Pre-stabilished relationships are only for canon relationships. Your OCs will have to be introduced to my muses first, or plotted beforehand. Non-canon ships also must be plotted beforehand, sorry. I'm really picky about that. If you don't ship a canon ship, let me know beforehand so I can avoid writing pre-stabilished romantic relationships with you.
→ I don't expect anyone with canon characters to follow the storylines/plotlines I post (or reblog) in this blog. You're free to disagree with them as you wish; however If you like them and want to join them, feel free to ask me first! And yes, I can change parts of these verses/plotlines to accommodate you and your headcanons, just let me know first!
→ Our portrayals of the same muse may differ, and that's okay. Don't expect me to write the same muse like you and vice-versa (I feel uncomfortable when people do that).
※ If you feel unsure about your own portrayals, please remember that even the canon material has different portrayals of a character because it was written by multiple people. I may block if someone comes to "teach" me or anyone else how to write my or their muses. I have had bad experiences with this in the past, and now I vouch for everyone's right to write their muses/AUs/ships the way they want, even if I disagree with them.
→ Feel free to drop threads, but let me know please. If I want to drop a thread I'll let you know. No hard feelings though! We can always make a brand new one.
※ Replies/threads length may vary, so no need to write long replies if I write long ones, or short replies if I wrote short ones. I won't judge you by it, or for fancy formats/icons/etc. Just keep in mind I'm not English native so sometimes English accents might be a little harder for me 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♀️
→ I don’t like passive-aggressiveness. If you have something to correct in my posts, please do it politely.
※ Communication is the key -- I'm awkward when reminding people about threads because I don't want them to think I'm rushing them. And I'll admit I'm paranoid and had issues with people ghosting me in the past so it makes me a bit nervous with couples or multimuses that are not full digimon-only OR multi muses from friends. If you feel uncomfortable with anything I said or had done, please TELL ME. I'd like to apologize and solve things peacefully. If we don't click, then at least we can part ways with no hard feelings.
※ "Hey Ni, are you mad/ignoring me because you didn't reply/comment in the tags anymore..." -- No, I'm not. Don't worry, the reason is simple: I'm afraid of hitting the limit of saved tags in the autosave function and getting my tags reset. So I'd like to make comments privately (if you don't mind!) or via OOC posts with said tags copied into the post.
※I also don't like drama or people posting vague things about me. It drives my paranoia crazy. Again, this is thanks to issues I've had in the past. If I catch a post that sounds like it's about me, i'll silently unfollow or block.
→ Although I'm not mutuals-only, I'd appreciate it if you could soft-block me if you plan to unfollow. So I'll understand if you don't want to write or interact with me anymore. However, you are always free to talk to me again (unless you tell me *not* to, in which case I'll respect your wishes).
→ I'm always open to plot things -- relationships, threads, headcanons, etc. So feel free to DM me if you get an idea in mind so we can discuss.
→ This blog might contain NF/SW stuff, nothing sex/ual, but swearing or mild triggering content. Please be aware before following me. If you want me to tag something, please tell me beforehand and privately.
→ No godmodding and mindreader, etc. If you want to attack my muses or do some of their actions, please let me know first. Hugging or following you on a walk -- as examples -- are OK, but kissing and other sort of actions are NOT.
→ Btw i'm uncomfortable when people use real people icons in threads, or have live action muses. Sorry (;´д`)ゞ
→ Please don’t send me requests to draw stuff. Some replies might have art! But if you just drop me something like “can you draw [insert here some prompt/idea]” i will immediately reply with my comm. price chart :) And no, I won’t draw fetish art.
※ If you want to use my art for icons, please let me know beforehand. Some of my art and icons have a backstory or are tied to a project of mine. And please, do not use my OCs as faceclaim or roleplay them. And please please, DO NOT REQUEST ARTISTS TO DRAW NSFW STUFF WITH MY OCS ESPECIALLY WITHOUT MY CONSENT.
→ Usual common etiquette – No hatred towards people’s religions, sexual/romantic orientation, gender (or lack of), PoC, ethnicities, etc. I won’t hesitate to block if needed.
→ Please send at least one meme if you are reblogging from me...! Reblog from the source/OP or try reblogging from my meme-reblogging blog: @gogglememes
→ Do not edit my art or repost/reupload it. If you wanna use it as an icon/sidebar, ask first. And no, you cannot use my art on A/I & N/F/T for ANYTHING. If you do that, I will block you immediately. If you want to use my doodles as icons, ask first. BTW i do have an icon warehouse blog (it used to be my old RP acc, but now it's for icons + archival of past stuff written with old fellows) → @goggle-digicons
○ If you're OK with those terms, then tell me your favorite Armor Evo from 02 material (Anime/Movie/Drama CD) -- you can use either name version (i can always research for the mon's OG name on wikimon) then there ya go.✌ ○
○ Icons credits: -- Tumblr:@7digitalheroes | @goggles-and-noodles | @digimon-icons | @iconwarehouse | @ofcanalave | @qtpiecaps | @guiltfreeicons | @blujaerps | @facexclaimxcafe-blog | @fractalflare -- Live Journal:[1][2][3][4][5][6]

About Ni:
Tumblr media
Hi I'm Ni (She/They; 20↑), I love Digimon in general, but the series I work with more is the OG Adventure series. I'm Ace/Panromantic, please use she/her or they/them pronouns. I'm a scaredy-cat kind of person who gets nervous and anxious at first, but once we start bonding I'll drop that and be more of myself. Also, I'm not good with people/communication, so sometimes I have meltdowns and have to step back for a while. Usually I'm either cooling off on a non-roleplaying blog or just hanging out on Discord. So please be patient with me during these times.
I love to learn new things, so please correct me if needed but without yelling at me because I kind of hate being yelled at, because I had bad personal life experiences in the past. My muses, despite some being quite closer to my personality are NOT me so please be aware of the differences between muse and writer.
I get super duper fired up when talking about the things I love the most. However I can be quite harsh and critical about said stuff as well. I tend to get a lot of brainstorms so if I’m messaging you that much please tell me and I will slow down my pace.
I also get excited when writing a thread, so I tend to reply hella quickly while I still have in mind what to say. Don’t rush me, but give me small reminders if I forget to reply since there’s a chance I actually forgot to or thought it was your turn when in fact I hadn’t replied in the first place.
I also draw. Like, a lot. Quite compulsive. Some of my non-canon-material icons are my own art. And I feel a bit uncomfortable by using other people’s fanart WITHOUT their permission. So yeah, I do my own doodled icons… When I get energy for those.

Free Resources For Writers & Creators
Tumblr media
This is a quick post of free resources that may help fandom creators (or creators in general). I’m sure many of these have been shared before. However, it doesn’t hurt to spread the word. A few quick points:
As a professional writer, I think this post will cater mostly towards writers.
I’m also a freelance photographer, so digital photography/editing/art sources are included, too.
I chose not to use any affiliate links in my post. I don’t want to profit from this, and I’m not sure that’s allowed on Tumblr anyways.
If I’ve listed a resource I haven’t used myself, I’ve made sure to state it.
Masterlists and/or huge resource compilations are marked with asterisks.
Alright, here we go! I hope you all find this post helpful. Happy writing/creating!
Tumblr media
Research
All of these are free resources for research. I use most of them for my writing jobs because they are extremely credible. These are great for making accurate references in your fics/creations.
1. ***Research Resources For Writers***
Writer’s Write has an enormous database of research resources for writers. They are divided into 20+ categories such as:
careers
historical research
crimes and forensics
religion
Each category contains 10+ resources like websites, articles, tips, databases, and so much more. It’s the most comprehensive and organized free research tool I use.
2. PubMed
My go-to source for citing medical studies. You’ll find 30 million citations related to numerous physical and mental health issues.
3. BioMed Central
I don’t use this website as often, but I keep it in my bookmarks. It’s similar to PubMed - great for discovering current and former medical research.
4. Drugs.com
If you need to name a medication and/or refer to medication side effects, Drugs.com is a straightforward resource. It’s easy to navigate and understand.
It also has a tool that lists potential medication interactions. This is really useful for accurate descriptions of med combinations.
5. Merck Manuals Consumer Version
Merck Manuals started out in 1899 as a medical reference guide for professionals. This consumer version is really comprehensive and updated regularly. It includes definitions, studies, and more.
6. FindLaw
If you’re writing about legal topics, FindLaw is useful for learning about laws/procedures in reader-friendly language. Categories include:
accidents/injuries
criminal law
family law (divorce, custody, etc.)
Keep in mind that laws vary based on location! You’ll often find additional links to state-related laws within articles. I do recommend double-checking state/location-based legal resources for accuracy.
7. APA Dictionary of Psychology
This psychology dictionary is provided by the American Psychological Association. It covers 90+ areas of psychology and 25,000+ terms/definitions.
You’ll also find links to additional psychology databases, resources, and so on. The website is updated frequently to provide updated information.
8. U.S. Bureau Of Labor Statistics
If you’re writing about a character’s job/career in the United States, this is a great source for accuracy. For any job sector, you’ll find details about
education requirements
positions in the sector
average salary for positions
what the positions entail
I imagine there are alternatives for other countries, too!
9. Investopedia Financial Term Dictionary
My area of expertise is personal finance; all of my writing published under my name is in this niche. I still refer to Investopedia’s dictionary for help. It’s excellent for understanding/explaining financial terms in a way that your reader can understand.
10. MedTerms Medical Dictionary
This is the medical version of Investopedia’s dictionary. I use this source less frequently, but I find that it’s accurate and helpful. There are many similar references online if you search for “medical glossaries” or “medical dictionaries”.
11. Domain Authority Checker
I’m not sure if this one is too helpful for fic writers, but it’s one of my most used tools. Domain authority “a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how likely a website is to rank on search engine result pages (SERPs)”.
The Wikipedia page for domain authority (DA) explains it clearly and simply. To sum it up, websites with good DA scores are considered reliable and accurate. If I cite sources in my work. I always link to sources with good DA scores.
Tumblr media
Writing/Editing
This section is the most thorough one. All of these are completely free tools for writing and editing any type of content. I currently use or have used all of these at some point in my career.
1. ***List Of Free And Open-Source Software Packages***
This Wikipedia page applies to multiple categories in my post. It’s a masterpost of free and open-source software for anything and everything. Software is divided up into categories and sub-categories. Some relevant examples include:
media
networking/Internet
image editing
file management
There are hundreds of free software links on the page, so you’ll need to do a bit of browsing. Start with the categories above to find software geared towards writers/creators.
2. OpenOffice
This is a free alternative to Microsoft Office. I’ve used it for nine years and love it. OpenOffice software includes free applications for:
text documents
spreadsheets
presentations
drawing
templates
There are many more tools with OpenOffice that I haven’t used. If you write offline, I cannot recommend it enough. Tutorials are readily available online, and the software is pretty user-friendly.
3. Evernote
I briefly used Evernote and found that it’s very user-friendly and helpful. Most of my colleagues use Evernote and recommend it for taking notes/staying organized.
(I’m personally not a fan of note-taking software or apps. My method is messy text documents with bullet point lists.)
4. Google Drive
This might seem like an obvious one, but Google Drive/Docs is my writing haven. It has the tools included with Microsoft Office and OpenOffice and then some. It’s great for collaborative writing/sharing documents, too.
5. Grammarly
I use the Premium (paid) version of Grammarly, but I also used the free version for years. It’s helpful for detecting simple spelling, style, and grammatical errors.
There are numerous ways to use it - desktop, copy/paste documents, and so on. I’m not a huge fan of how well it works with Google Docs, but they’re improving it/it’s moved out of beta mode.
If you’re interested in the paid version - which I highly recommend -  wait to buy until a holiday pops up. They offer a major discount on the software for almost every holiday/special occasion.
6. Plagiarism Detector
This website is handy for scanning for plagiarism. You can scan your own work to ensure uniqueness, too. My clients are big fans of this tool.
(I no longer use this resource; I use a paid tool called Copyscape Premium. The low cost has a big return on investment for me.)
7. TitleCase
The name says it all. It’s free and simple! I’ll be honest - I’m terrible with proper title case. You’d think after a decade of writing I’d nail it. However, I use this tool pretty often.
8. Hemingway Editor
Hemingway Editor is an online and desktop editor. It’s excellent for scanning your writing to check for:
readability (a grade-level score is listed)
adverb usage
passive voice usage
complex phrase usage
estimated reading time
This tool is color-coded to make editing easy. For example, adverbs are highlighted in blue. I don’t use this as often as I used to, but it was essential for my early writing career.
9. Polish My Writing
This tool is very straightforward. You paste your writing into the text box. Spelling errors, grammar suggestions, and style suggestions are highlighted in red, blue, and green.
It’s great for double-checking your work alongside Grammarly or Hemingway. When using free editors, I recommend using at least two for higher accuracy.
10. OneLook Reverse Dictionary And Thesaurus
I’m going to use the definition directly from the website:
“This tool lets you describe a concept and get back a list of words and phrases related to that concept. Your description can be anything at all: a single word, a few words, or even a whole sentence. Type in your description and hit Enter (or select a word that shows up in the autocomplete preview) to see the related words.”
To put it simply, you can use the reverse dictionary/thesaurus to find those words/thoughts that are on the tip of your tongue. Use the tool to:
find a word based on the word’s definition (i.e. search for “inability to feel pain”)
find synonyms and related concepts
generate a list of category-specific words (i.e. search for “cat breeds”)
answer basic questions (i.e. search for “what is the capital of France?”)
The results can be hit or miss, but I usually find the information I’m looking for. It’s a solid resource any writer regardless of genre.
11. Word Frequency Counter +  Phrase Frequency Counter
I cannot emphasize how much I love these tools. Repetition is the bane of a writer’s existence; it’s simply inevitable at times.
These two tools count the number of times you use a single word or phrase in a text document. Just copy/paste your document, hit submit, and you’re all set!
For the phrase frequency counter, you can scan for two-word to ten-word phrases.
12. Thesaurus.com
This is another tool that might seem painfully obvious. Combined with the word frequency counter, it’s such an essential resource for me.
It’s especially useful if you’re writing about the same topic multiple times (i.e. love, getting drunk, sex, etc.). I always use this combo of tools to ensure uniqueness.
13. Lists Of Colors
Are you stumped when trying to come up with unique shades of blue? Is describing your character’s hair or skin color difficult? This Wikipedia page has you covered. It contains:
lists of colors (alphabetically)
lists of colors by shade
lists of Crayola crayon colors
lists of color palettes
I typically use this resource for product descriptions, but I also used it for creative writing many times. It’s a lifesaver for all things color-related.
Tumblr media
Free Photos/Images
Tons of creators need free photos/images for numerous reasons. All of these sources provide 100% free photos, illustrations, etc. that have a Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means there’s no copyright whatsoever on them.
You can edit the images however you’d like, too. All of the images in my post are from the first source listed below. I made them black and white and added text.
(A lot of these sites have donate buttons for contributors. Donating a dollar here and there goes a long way!)
1. Unsplash
Unsplash is my personal favorite for high-resolution photos. It’s easy to navigate and has over 2,000,000 free images. Downloading an image is a one-click process, and you don’t need to create an account.
2. Pixabay
Pixabay is my go-to site for illustrations and vector graphics (they have photos, too). There are 1.9 million free images to choose from. You don’t need an account to download images, but I recommend creating one. It’s free and with an account:
you don’t have to complete a CAPTCHA every time you download an image
you can access higher-quality/larger/etc. versions of images
I often use graphics from Pixabay to create overlays and masks for mixed media art pieces.
3. PxHere
I’ve never used PxHere, but one of my writing clients recommends it. It seems very similar to Pixabay, and the interface is user-friendly.
4. Pexels
In my limited experience, Pexels seems to focus on “artsy” stock images/content. I found great high-quality images the few times I’ve used it.
5. Burst by Shopify
I haven’t used Burst, but it’s another free image site that a writing client recommended to me. It seems a little limited compared to the other sites, but it never hurts to add it to your toolbox!
Tumblr media
Digital Art/Photo Editing/Etc.
This section seems brief, but the tools listed are pretty comprehensive and diverse. They are geared towards many creative needs/projects like:
Creating manips of people/etc.
Adding text to images.
Creating collages.
Digital illustration.
Advanced photo editing.
There’s something for everyone. In my experience, finding your favorites among these will take some trial and error.
1. Pixlr X and Pixlr E (app available)
Pixlr X and Pixlr E are both versatile free editing tools. Pixlr X is ideal for less experienced creators. Pixlr E is comparable to Adobe PhotoShop.
I’ve used both software formats for personal and professional art projects.
The Pixlr app is handy for making collages, adding filters/overlays, adding text, and so on. I’ve used it for creating fanfiction collages and similar projects. It’s super easy to use.
2. Remove Background by Pixlr
This is one of the easiest/fastest tools I’ve found for removing backgrounds from images. It’s perfect for creators who make manips using photos of people.
It takes literal seconds to use. The tool automatically removes the background. If you spot any mistakes, you can refine the results with brush/erase tools. Then you download the cutout and you’re all set!
Unfortunately, this feature isn’t available on the Pixlr app. There are a lot of smartphone apps for removing photo backgrounds.
3. GIMP
If you need a full-fledged Photoshop alternative, GIMP is excellent software.  It’s not an online tool like most I’ve suggested; you’ll need to download it to your computer.
There’s quite a learning curve for it, unless you’re familiar with Photoshop already. Fortunately, the free video/text GIMP tutorials online are endless. I no longer use/need GIMP, but it’s a personal favorite of mine.
4. Paint.NET
Admittedly, I haven’t used Paint.NET, but my art/photography colleagues commonly mention it. It’s comparable to Photoshop and GIMP. It’s a web-based tool, and a quick Google search returns several tutorials for it.
5. Photopea
This is more or less a Photoshop clone, but it’s free and web-based. If you watch Photoshop tutorials, you can usually follow the same steps in PhotoPea.
I’ve only used it a few times; I have Photoshop so I don’t need it. Still, it’s very impressive - especially for a free tool.
6. PicsArt (app available)
PicsArt is a photo editing website and app; the app is much easier to use in my opinion. It’s a “fun” editing tool for photo manips, collages, and fan art in general. A lot of users post their art in the app, and I’ve noticed tons of cool fandom edits.
Some of the features are Premium (AKA cost money), but I don’t think they’re worth the extra cost. PicsArt also has a digital drawing app. I haven’t personally used it but it may be worth checking out!
7. Adobe Photoshop Express (app available)
(I’ll preface this by saying I have an Adobe subscription, so I have access to the “locked” features. I’ve used the free versions, but my memory of it is a bit hazy.)
Photoshop Express is a free web-based tool and smartphone app. The app is very user-friendly and can be used for detailed editing, adding filters, adding text, and so on.
I’m less familiar with the browser version; I only use it for the cutout tool when I’m feeling lazy. It seems to be a good fit for quick edits - filters, cropping, and so on.
8. Make PNG Transparent by Online PNG Tools
This tool is awesome for removing solid colored backgrounds. I use it to create graphics for mixed media art pieces. Here’s how it works:
upload an image
type the color your want to remove (name or hex code)
type the percentage of similar color tones you want to match (for example, 25% will remove your chosen color plus similar warm/cool tones)
the removed color is replaced with transparent pixels
If you want to make a JPG transparent, start with the website’s JPG to PNG Converter. There are a ton of useful free tools offered, but I haven’t tried out most of the others.
Wrap Up
That’s all I’ve got for now! If I think of additional free tools, I’ll add them to this post. Feel free to reblog with your own recommendations or message me if you’d like me to add anything.
I hope my fellow creatives find these too

“So how did you two exactly meet?” your dad asks over the dinner table. You are all sitting around the long pine table, the tremendous amount of food lining in the middle as the plates are going around, getting filled.
“Oh, um, we were set up, actually. It was all Rosa,” you admit with a soft chuckle, sharing a look with Marcus beside you.
“I just thought they would be a good match, guess I was right,” Rosa grins, clearly satisfied with the work she’s done.
“What do you do for a living, Marcus?” Jeremy chimes in while helping Margaret cut her meat beside him. She is the youngest of the cousins, only five, but she can boss around anyone as if she was Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada.
“Oh, I work in sales. We had a project with Steven’s company, that’s where we met.”
“That sounds interesting,” Joe nods, but at the same time you hear Harry huff on the other end of the table. Looking in his way you see him with his eyes fixed on the plate. He hasn’t said a word since Marcus arrived and his silence is quite worrying if you’re being honest. You haven’t seen him be silent for this long ever, you’re afraid he might be plotting something.
“It’s so weird that all four of us are here with a significant other this year. I remember when we were all just kids, running around in our backyard,” Etta sighs with a nostalgic smile.
Your eyes wander over to Harry, who is still relentlessly staring down at his plate, as if he wasn’t even there.
“Yeah, now there are just two single people sitting at the table. Aunt Monica and Harry,” you say and his head finally snaps up, eyes meeting yours, but you can’t read them.
“You’re single?” Lily asks Harry, leaning forward a little so she can see him since they are sitting on the same side of the table.
“I, uhh--I am, yeah,” he nods, clearly uncomfortable he is being discussed all of a sudden.
“Would have sworn you have someone waiting for you at home.”
“No, it’s just me,” he shakes his head. “Maybe I could pair up with Aunt Monica so there wouldn’t be any single people,” he jokes, making everyone laugh at the table. Aunt Monica looks up from her plate and winks at Harry.
“I’ll leave my door open for the night,” she cheekily comments and Harry almost chokes on his wine as another round of laugh runs over the table.
“Monica, he is not a lonely soldier,” your mom tells her, but she just shrugs her shoulders grabbing her glass and downing the rest of her wine. Joe is quick to refill it for her, knowing well she was about to ask someone to do that for her.
“Thanks for the offer though,” Harry nods shyly and you think it’s hilarious how his cheeks have turned red from a nasty comment your aunt made.
His eyes find you again right when Marcus reaches over and squeezes your thigh gently under the table and you catch Harry’s grimace before you turn to your boyfriend and share a short peck on the lips.
For your biggest surprise Harry doesn’t try to drop any nasty comments about you during dinner, not even after, when all adults gather in the living room while the kids leave to play video games in their room. Rosa is sitting on Harry’s thigh as he is supporting her back, letting her curiously look around in the room. You’re sitting on a loveseat with Marcus, curled up to his side and he has an arm around your shoulders. Occasionally you catch Harry’s eyes on the two of you, but you try to pay little attention to him and just enjoy the evening.
“I should get going soon,” Marcus tells you, checking the time. It’s past ten and he has to leave early in the morning.
“Why don’t you stay for the night?” Teresa asks when she sees the two of you getting up from the sofa.
“Oh, I didn’t want to bother too long, it’s my first time meeting you all, thought a dinner would be just enough,” Marcus chuckles and you bite into your bottom lip. Does he believe this or did he want to stay, but only tells this everyone because you didn’t invite him to stay the night? You’re not sure if you want to know the real answer...
“Silly, you don’t bother,” you mom huffs. “Isn’t it too late to drive home?”
“I’m fine, but thank you. I didn’t bring my stuff so I would have to leave extra early in the morning to make it in time. But thank you for having me, it was wonderful meeting you all.”
Marcus goes around and says his goodbye to everyone before the two of you head to the front door.
“Drive safe, text me when you get home, alright?” you tell him as he throws his coat to the passenger seat before turning to face you.
“Yeah. Have fun with your family and I’ll see you in a few days.” A genuine smile stretches across his face and it immediately triggers your guilt. He could have stayed the night avoiding to drive back to the city so late, but even now, standing out on the driveway you don’t feel like you want him to stay for longer.
What you keep telling yourself is that it’s all because you haven’t been together that long and it would have been a too big of a step just yet. Seemingly Marcus is fine with your choice, but something is telling you that it bugs him deep inside.
Leaning down he kisses you softly, a hand sliding to your waist and pulling you closer before you part your ways. Standing on the side you wave at him as he backs out of the driveway and disappears in the darkness of the woods.
You stay out there for a little longer, the spicy coldness of the night feels numbing in a soothing way. Chewing on your bottom lip you contemplate if you’ve made the right choice by not inviting him to stay. You don’t find an answer for that before you head back inside.
Not much has changed since you left, but you notice that Valerie is back in Rosa’s hands and Harry is nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s Harry?” you ask sitting on the ground next to your sister, eyes on Valerie as she is adorably babbling at you.
“He said he’s tired, went to bed.”
You look in his room’s way. That sounded like absolute bullshit, but you don’t have a right to question it. Maybe he truly was tired, he probably had to wake up quite early to pick you up and be here in time.
Nodding you reach for Valerie and take the little girl into your arms, making yourself busy with her.
***
Tossing once again in the bed you growl in annoyance. You haven’t gotten an ounce of sleep since you’ve come to bed hours ago. Turning to your side you tap on the screen of your phone and it shows you that it’s already past two in the morning. No position feels comfortable anymore and you’ve flipped your pillow way too many times, there are no cold side anymore.
On cue, your stomach growls and you let out a sigh staring up at the ceiling. Maybe if you had a late night snack your body would finally relax and let you rest. Kicking the covers off you put on a pair of fuzzy socks and throw a hoodie on before heading out to the kitchen to find something you could feast on.
You stop in your way surprised when you see that the lights are on in the kitchen and someone is clearly out there, probably with the same intention as you. Walking down the hallway you hear a plate getting placed on the kitchen island and soon enough the person starts eating, the fork meeting the plate.
Harry is sitting at the kitchen island in a plain white t-shirt and checkered pajama pants, a plate of mashed potatoes and meatloaf sitting in front of him. His head snaps up immediately when he hears that someone has joined him and you stop at the door.
“Hey,” you smile softly. “I see I’m not the only one having trouble with sleeping,” you chuckle shuffling your way to the fridge.
“I don’t sleep too well at new places,” he admits, eyes following your frame as you pass by him before he turns his attention back to his plate.
Grabbing the milk you are about to close the fridge when your eyes lay on the absurd amount of eggnog. Hesitantly you grab a bottle and take it out as well, thinking that a few sips might help you fall asleep easier. Then you grab the cookies the kids decorated this afternoon and sit on a stool next to Harry.
“Woah, in need of having some fun?” he chuckles seeing the eggnog and you just shrug your shoulders, pouring milk into a regular glass, then some eggnog into a smaller one in hopes you won’t go overboard with it.
“I’m just… having a hard time falling asleep.”
“Empty bed?”
“What?” you ask taking a bite from a cookie.
“I mean, Marcus left. You must be used to sleeping next to him,” Harry explains and you look back at him with furrowed eyebrows.
“Well, I do sleep better with someone next to me, but it’s not like I’ve done that a lot with Marcus,” you admit, turning your attention back to the cookies.
“What do you mean?”
“Nothing,” you shrug, not really in the mood to get into it, because it’s a whole spiral that would bring you down into depths you definitely don’t want to talk about right now.
“You haven’t slept with Marcus?” he asks, and you notice how it could mean two versions. Either he is only talking about just sleeping or he is nosily trying to find out if you’ve had sex with him.
“That is… none of your business,” you tell him with a soft chuckle. Harry holds his hands up innocently before returning to his plate.
A few minutes pass by in silence, just your munching and Harry’s chewing breaking it. As you pour a little more eggnog to yourself Harry stands up from the stool upon finishing his food, and after putting his plate to the sink he gets a glass for himself and sits back, holding the glass in your way.
“Want to have some fun too?” you ask, but pour him some eggnog anyway.
“Might help me fall asleep too.”
“Sometimes I feel like mom is right saying that I have a drinking problem,” you snort finishing up your cookie.
“Don’t think that’s true,” Harry tells you with furrowed eyebrows.
“Well, you have seen me drunk quite a few times, but it’s nice that you think it’s alright.”
“What’s wrong with having a few drinks occasionally? It’s not like you blackout every other day.”
“My mom would want me to never blackout in general, but I don’t seem to know my boundaries with alcohol,” you tell him with a sigh.
“Happens to everyone, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.”
“Thanks, but I’m sitting here at two in the morning, drinking eggnog for no specific reason, because it surely won’t help me sleep, so... Maybe there is some truth to it.”
Harry thinks to himself a little before pouring some more to himself and some into your glass as well.
“I literally just said that I should stop,” you say, giving him a puzzled look.
“It’s fine if you have a reason,” he answers with a cheeky smile. “We’re gonna play never have I ever.”
“Oh hell no!” you chuckle looking at him with wide eyes.
“What? Are you afraid I might find out something nasty about you?” he challenges you, clearly trying to push you to play. “I don’t think you can surprise me with anything.”
“Excuse me? That’s pretty hurtful you think I don’t have surprising secrets,” you say putting a hand to your chest. “I think I’m the one who can’t find out anything surprising about you.”
“Hah, we’ll see, Y/N. All you gotta do is play,” he smirks and you already know you’re fucked. Sighing you take your glass and look at him with a murderous look, but the corners of your mouth are curling up. “You can start, just so you see how generous I am.”
“Oh, what a gentleman,” you mock him. “Okay. Never have I ever… gotten into a physical fight,” you say and watch Harry raise his glass to his mouth, but at the same time you do the same, already sure he is gonna be shocked.
Just as you expected, he freezes seeing you take a sip from your eggnog.
“Alright, rule is that we gotta explain them, because theres no way you’re leaving without telling me about who you got into a fight with,” he tells you pointing a finger at you, but then adds: “Fighting with your sister does not count, Y/N.”
“It wasn’t Rosa,” you chuckle. “I had a huge fight with my best friend in third grade and we somehow ended up kicking and punching each other in the middle of the gym in class. We were both sent to the principal’s office.”
“Who would have thought you were a feisty little kid!” Harry chuckles and you just shrug with a proud smile.
“See? I told you I can surprise you. Your turn.”
“Okay. Never have I ever had a threesome,” he easily says and brings his glass up to his mouth as you stay put this time.
“If you think I’m surprised, I’m not. It’s literally written on your forehead that you’re the kind who enjoys that kind of stuff,” you scoff.
“Oh, please. Don’t pretend like you haven’t even thought about having one.”
“I’m not admitting anything outside the game. You have to ask that next if you are that interested,” you smirk, but you’re certain your eyes give you away, because Harry is chuckling and shaking his head. “Never have I ever cheated on someone,” you say and watch Harry’s glass stay on the counter.
“I’m not that bad of a person.”
“Never said you are, I was just curious,” you shrug and nod at him letting him know it’s his turn again.
“Never have I ever had a crush on a teacher of mine.”
You both drink.
“My finance professor, junior year in college,” you inform him.
“English teacher, senior year in high school,” Harry replies and you are already picturing him sitting in the first row just to be close to her during class.
“Did you write poems to her too?”
“You said no questions outside the game!” he retorts laughing and you roll your eyes at him.
“Alright, I have thought about having a threesome before, now your turn, spill the tea!”
“I wrote a song about her,” he admits and you raise your eyebrows at him. “Even planned on showing it to her, but my friends talked me down, luckily.”
“It’s kinda sweet and romantic.”
“Yeah, and very inappropriate,” he adds chuckling. “Alright, enough of Miss Hastings, your turn.”
“Never have I ever stolen something.” You both raise your glass and you smile at him swallowing the alcohol. “Virginities do not count,” you tease him, earning a laugh.
“Still would have drank. I was a little kleptomaniac when I was a kid. Liked to steal small things in the store just to see if I would get caught.”
“And were you ever?”
“One time, yeah. My mom was so mad at me, I got grounded for a week, never stole anything again,” he admits chuckling. “What about you?”
“It wasn’t regular, but I definitely have stolen candies when I didn’t have enough money to pay.”
“What a rebel,” he teases you and you just smack his upper arm jokingly. “Never have I ever snuck out.” Only Harry drinks and you roll your eyes at him.
“Again, not surprising.”
“I just wanted to know if you have ever snuck out, chill,” he smirks. “Guess you were a saint.”
“Never have I ever said the wrong person’s name while having sex.” A devilish smile sits on your lips as you watch him drink while you do the same. You see his eyebrows rise over the glass.
“Nasty,” he huffs. “When did that happen?”
“First year of college. I was casually seeing a guy, but I wasn’t really over my last ex from high school and accidentally called him Ethan.”
“And what was his real name?”
“I don’t even remember,” you admit with a laugh, clearly feeling the alcohol slowly kicking in. Harry’s mouth hangs open before his expressions turn into that iconic ‘not bad’ face.
“Never have I ever had a wet dream about a friend of mine,” Harry asks and you feel your cheeks heating up right away, eyes snapping down at your glass. Unwillingly, but you drink as Harry does the same. “Who was it?”
“I’m not answering this one,” you shake your head.
“Come on! I promise it’ll stay between us. Was it Steven?” he grins at you, clearly enjoying your embarrassment. “I bet it was Steven.”
“Shut up, it wasn’t!” you snap at him rolling your eyes.
“Okay, then who? I won’t sleep tonight if you don’t tell me!” he begs, but you shake your head stubbornly. “Do I know him?” Oh, all too well, you think to yourself. “Is it someone who was there at the bar last time?”
“Can we move past it?” you sigh painfully.
“No, no way. I’m not leaving you alone until you tell me!”
“It was you.”
The words slip out fast and a little quiet, but he hears them clear. His lips part, a truly stunned look pulls on his face and you just wish you didn’t say a word.
“Happy? Now you know,” you snap running a hand through your hair.
“Was I any good in your dream?” he then cheekily asks and you gasp at the nosy, nasty question.
“Now that I won’t answer.”
“I have to know if I did good!” he protests and you laugh.
“It wasn’t even you, well, not your real version, why does it matter?”
“I’m a maximalist, I have to know if my dream self did good,” he pushes further and you can’t believe this is really what you’re talking about.
“Jesus fucking Christ, it was good!” you admit throwing your hands into the air, giving up to keep anything to yourself. He is just too damn annoying and stubborn to ever have anything other than his way.
“If that makes you feel better, I’ve had a few about you as well,” he admits with a straight face and the heat is back in your cheeks immediately.
“A few?”
“I didn’t count, but yeah. And you were awesome, if you’re interested.”
“Thanks, but I was not,” you say with a meaningful look, but he just smirks at you. “You’re such a pig, Styles.”
“Says the girl who was probably moaning my name in her dreams.”
“If you keep talking about this, you’ll be the second person I get into a physical fight with,” you warn him and he chuckles, but takes the hint and finally moves on.
You easily forget about time as you keep playing for quite long. Question after question, some shocking and surprising things come up, but there are some absolutely ridiculous facts too. You’re definitely over the line of being tipsy, but you’re not at the drunk state yet.
Harry clearly enjoys asking questions that make you nervous, but you don’t shy away from risky questions either. By the time the bottle empties out you are both laughing on something he said, your eyes are teary and you gasp for air, holding onto the edge of the kitchen island.
“Oh fuck!” you breathe out when your gaze wanders over to the windows and you see that it’s starting to brighten out there. “The Sun is coming up, what time is it?” you slur, having a hard time to get off the stool and keep your balance at the same time. Harry fishes his phone out of his pocket and his eyes widen.
“It’s six in the morning!” he whisper-yells and you almost faint.
“Shit, mom is usually up around six thirty, she can’t find us here like this! Quickly, we have to clean up!”
Harry takes care of the empty eggnog bottle while you wash the dishes and then the two of you head back to your rooms, but you just really don’t want to go to bed alone. Alcohol tends to make you clingy and you need the presence of someone next to you.
“Harry,” you whisper as the two of you stop in the hallway.
“Hm?” he hums, looking back at you with glassy eyes.
“Can I… sleep at yours?” you shyly ask.
Part of you expects a smart comeback, something dirty, but he looks down at you for a long moment as if he is debating what he should say and you start to think he is about to reject you, but then he takes your hand and pulls you in the direction of his room.
“It’s strictly friendly, okay?” you tell him once the two of you are in his room and the door is closed behind you.
“Like the dream you had about me?” he cockily asks grinning at you and you’re quick to smack his hard chest, making him chuckle.
“Shut up! I just really don’t want to sleep alone.”
“Chill, it’s all good,” he chuckles and stepping to the nightstand he plugs his phone in to charge as you crawl up to the huge, comfortable bed.
Tugging a pillow under your head you turn your back against him, only hearing as he lies down next to you, tugging some of the cover off you since there’s only a big one. He shuffles a bit more until you both stop moving, but you still have your eyes open.
Knowing that he is right there behind you irks your mind and the urge to cuddle to his side is stronger than you will to stay still. You want to feel his body heat, his touch, hear his heartbeat under your face as you curl up to his side. You are dying to listen to his steady breathing from up close and your self-control is slowly but surely dissolves.
Before your rational side could talk you down, you find yourself turning around and snuggling to his side, a soft chuckle emitting from his lips.
“It’s totally friendly, wipe the satisfied grin off your stupid face,” you mumble as you lay your head to his shoulder, bringing a hand up to his chest. One of his arms curl around your shoulders as he stays silent, letting you snuggle up to him all you want.
It’s even better than you remembered. Last time the two of you were like this, the morning ruined everything and it had a whole different antecedent than now. You can only hope history doesn’t repeat itself and you don’t have to go through the same embarrassment like last time.
“Y/N?” he whispers and your eyes open at his voice.
“Yeah?” There’s a short pause before he speaks up again.
“Do you really… think that… there was not much Etta was missing?”
You can’t stop yourself from smiling at how self-conscious he just sounded, still thinking about the joke you made in the car on your way here. For a split second you think about lying again, but it’s clearly been bothering him, so much he felt the need to ask after several rounds of eggnog.
“No. I was just joking,” you admit and he lets out a relieved sigh. “Harry?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you really think I have a fat ass?” you ask referring back to the time the two of you encountered at the hospital when Valerie was born. You feel him huff as his hand on your shoulder squeezes you gently.
“You have a great ass, Y/N. The best I’ve ever seen.”
“Are you just exaggerating?” you ask, lifting your head up and narrowing your eyes at him in the dark.
“No,” he smiles. “Swear to my sister’s life it’s the truth.”
Knowing well he wouldn’t bring his sister into it if he wasn’t telling the truth, you put back down your head, finally closing your eyes.
“Good night, Harry,” you mumble, feeling yourself drifting to sleep.
“Good night, Pretty Eyes.”
