       The news of the chaos in the Golden Ward spread like wildfire--not unlike the riot itself. News reports all across the city, social media going crazy, and several places contacting workers to stay away from the danger. It was absolute chaos, with the origin of the riot being completely unknown to everyone.

       It wasn’t unlike something had just... come over the people there. Like this was planned. 

       That was the impression Naoto Kurogane got, anyways.

“But, would the people in charge be behind this? Why would they...?”

       He was still stuck in the streets of the Fibonacci Ward, his phone the only way he could keep up with the madness. He could only speculate on what exactly was going on. Whatever was happening, there was no way something this sudden just happened by coincidence. Naoto certainly wasn’t a genius, but this wasn’t his first time around. Somebody had to have planned this. 

       But... Even if he could infer that, he didn’t have a single clue as to the who on that. His only bet was that the head honchos got bored and decided to hurl the Golden Ward into chaos. But, if that were true, why? Did they even need a reason? He decided to dwell on that later.

      It was tempting to jump in there and try and help as many people as he could. But with the crowds and police flooding in from every angle, getting in as he was would’ve been impossible. It wasn’t like he could use his strength to just jump over the crowd or something--that power hadn’t yet been returned to him.

       Even still...

Ragna shakes the blood off his sword and puts it back on his belt. Taking Hazama’s dream was no easy feat, especially when he was met with such resistance, but in the end he managed to overpower him for the second time, shocking, quite frankly, both of them pretty equally. Hazama loathes it, but the Grim Reaper has grown into his power.

“Come back! Don’t you dare leave me here!” Hazama calls, clawing at the ground in front of him, reaching out to Ragna. He doesn’t know why he’s so desperate and frankly doesn’t really want to, but if he had the emotional vocabulary he’d realize this sudden distress is because for the first time in his life he’s felt wanted. Ragna insisted on saving him. Literally would not take no for an answer and fought him tooth and nail to preserve an existence neither of them really cared for in the first place. As far as he knows, anyway.

Ragna scoffs and continues to walk.

“Ragna!” Hazama is audibly more distressed, more than he has any right to be, Ragna feels. “I said get back here!” Something wraps around Ragna’s ankle and he trips, not bothering to get up because he knows it’s Ouroboros and there’s no use in struggling. There’s nothing he can do to get the damn chain off besides convince Hazama to take it back. So he crosses his arms under his head as he’s arduously dragged across the floor, back toward Hazama and the Cauldron. 

“You’re really irritating, y’know that?” Ragna calls when he’s a few feet away. “Why in god’s name do you want my help, anyway? You’re being dramatic.” 

“Aren’t you the one that’s hellbent on saving me? When I told you not to? C’mon, Mr. Hero. Do your damn job.” Hazama’s cheek stings when Ragna backhands him, so forcefully that the seithr inhibitor on the back of his hand leaves a mark on Hazama’s face. 

“Don’t call me that.” Ragna gestures to his leg, muttering, “I’ll consider it if you get this fucking thing off of me and let me stand.” Hazama does as asked and Ragna picks him up, gracelessly slinging him over his shoulder. “Don’t get more blood on my coat.” Too late; the impact of his abdomen hitting Ragna’s shoulder forces a cough out of him, making blood splatter on Ragna’s back. “For the love of…” 

“Watch your language, Rags. There could be children,” Hazama taunts, content to simply let Ragna carry him away. 

“I wouldn’t be surprised if you Library dogs started conscripting kids,” Ragna sighs, reaching the top of the stairs and shouldering a door open. He doesn’t bother to check if the coast is clear. Nobody would be here due to the mess the Embryo is causing. They’d either get lost on the way or dragged into a fight. It’s beyond Ragna’s pay grade to understand, at this point. Ragna sighs. He’s tired, and sore, and he just wants to find somewhere to sleep so he can forget about everything for a few hours. Hazama is among the last that needed to have their wishes taken to be saved. Ragna’s journey is almost over. What happens beyond that, he doesn’t know, he just hopes everyone will be safe, unfortunately or not including the snake bastard he’s carrying right now.

     Mukuro was only gone for a few seconds and what she came back to was a horrible sight。 Someone thought it was a good idea to hit on her boyfriend, anger began to flare in her eyes。 Once the initial sight of the scene passed, Mukuro began to slowly take in every detail of the woman flirting with him。 Said flirty woman wasn’t that good looking, Mukuro was far superior, a sneer taking over Mukuro’s face as she resumed her approach。 So far it was just talking, batting her eyelashes, and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear but if it went to a flirty touch, then Mukuro would be pissed。

     Today was Mukuro’s day off so she thought a nice walk through the park would be good, especially since the weather was so nice。 And she opted to go to the nearest vending machine and get them some drinks, and that was when she saw the woman scoot next to Ragna on the bench he sat at。 With her grip increasing on the cans slightly, she approached Ragna and the woman who was going to regret flirting with him。 Especially now that a flirty touch was placed on Ragna’s arm。

     As Mukuro approached, the woman shot a glare at Mukuro and told her to kindly move along, ignoring her, Mukuro smiled at Ragna and handed him a drink, 「sorry that took so long, dear, shall we continue？」 She kept her mouth shut from saying, seems that some floozy has taken my spot, but Mukuro had a better idea of exactly what she was planning to do. Mukuro would’ve left it alone if the woman didn’t touch Ragna, but she did。 And now she was going to pay for it。

     There were many skills that Mukuro acquired while working as a hostess, as the art of manipulation and milking information from people。 So figuring out the name and address of the woman who dared flirted with Ragna was easy, breaking into her apartment silently was a bit hard。 Mukuro’s lock picking skills weren’t so great yet, so she was a bit louder than she’d like。 But thankfully, her target wasn’t home at the moment。 Which wasn’t a problem, of course, Mukuro would be patient for this。

     She chose a nice hiding spot and waited until her target came home, which was just a few hours and lo and behold, the woman came home drunk。 Which was absolutely perfect for Mukuro, because that meant that the other would pass out into a nice, deep sleep, allowing Mukuro to kill her swiftly without a scream being let out。 Peeking from out of the coat closet door, Mukuro watched as her prey laid on the couch and in moments was snoring loudly。 Slowly, Mukuro opened the door and quietly stepped out, a syringe of a highly lethal drug combination of clasped in her hand。

     Now, it wasn’t the cheapest thing to do, but it was cleaner and this way, it would look like she overdosed。 Sneaking over to the sleeping body, Mukuro found a good enough spot to poke her with the needle and inject the liquid into her system。 Mukuro wouldn’t be surprised if she woke up while all this was going on, after all, there was a pinch and that normally woke people up。 But to her surprise, the woman didn’t, there was a look of slight discomfort on her face before relaxing again。 Once all the contents of the syringe were in the woman, Mukuro stood up, dropped the syringe, and a smile slowly eased onto her lips。 It seemed like a pretty convincing enough scene to make it look like she did it to herself。

     「Good night〜❤」 With that, she’d snake her way out of the apartment, acting like she didn’t just murder someone in cold blood。 Heading into the night without a care in the world, that was one less person who’d hit on someone she was pursuing。

       Sunlight crept through a small opening in the sliding door to his room. Shining its usual annoying greeting onto his eyes, he stirred, slowly waking from his sleep. He greeted the very first moments of his day as he always did: slowly, calmly, with a yawn. 

       No sooner had he awoken, he heard someone’s voice from outside his room.

“Young master? It’s morning!” 

“I’m up, I’m up.”

       Tempting as it was to ‘rest his eyes’... He had a lot to do. 

       So up he went. Out of bed, futon folded up, clothes changed, teeth brushed. His morning routine went by in a mechanical blur, only made worse by his morning grogginess. As he went about his business, he heard a chorus of voices from every angle--

                          “You have an meeting with the head of the...”

    “I’ve made certain all your belongings are in order, Sir.”

                               “That package you ordered arrived. Shall I open--”

“Ah, set it for this afternoon--Oh, thank you--No!! I’ll open it when I get back, thank you...!”

       It felt like everything was in constant motion, right up until he was at the door. A constant barrage of noise and things to be done--as was to be expected, in a place like Spirale. There was never a dull moment in this city... And that left the Terumi family--and by extension, him--a lot of work to do. 

       But--as his uniform would indicate--he had one important thing to attend to before everything else. 

“I’m off!” 

       He felt the warm morning sun strike him the moment he stepped out, along with the frigid winter air. Looking out over the Cotes Ward as he made his way, he saw all manor of hustle and bustle. Humans and non-humans, various conversations, some traffic jams, and what seemed like a non-human rights protest going on in the distance.

“As busy as ever... I’ll have to take my other route, then. I should be able to make it about thirty minutes before homeroom starts...” 

       So began another day in the typical life of Naoto Terumi--the young soon-to-be head of the Terumi family.

       A voice message. That was what had led Naoto Kurogane on this wild chase.

       Supposedly, a ‘copy’ of him, created to believe that he not only was the original Naoto, but that he’d lived in Spirale his entire life, had been infected by some sort of virus. That virus was going to kill them... And, if they died, so would he. 

       To be honest, they didn’t even need to put stakes like that on his shoulders. Hearing the first bit was more than enough to persuade him into action. 

       He looked down at his phone, squinting at the location displayed on it. ‘Fibonacci Ward’. 

“Gah, stay still, idiot..! What’s making him run from place to place like this?”

       His copy had been doing this the past few hours. Never staying in one place, always being just out of Naoto’s reach. He’d be at a total loss to his copy’s motives for this... if he didn’t already have a glimpse into them.

       Shortly after he’d woken up this morning, there had been a steady stream of memories flowing into his mind. A life he never got the chance to live. Where he’d been able to live his life as the head of the Terumi family. Where he wasn’t in constant, life-threatening danger. A peaceful life, here in the walls of Spirale. 

       It was in such bad taste, he wondered if somebody running this place had it in for him. 

       That aside, it gave him a bit of an idea on where to look. There was little reason for his copy to go anywhere in Fibonacci, unless he was headed back home. But why would he be headed to ‘Naoto Kurogane’s’ home? Why there, and not his estate in Cotes? 

       He couldn’t figure that out, but it was his best lead. So off he went, arriving at the housing area just a long, tiresome sprint. Pulling up right in front of his house and thoroughly checking the interior to find... nothing.

       Not a soul in sight. No alternate self, nothing. 

“Alright. Where the hell are you?”

       Was his hunch wrong? He stepped outside, wondering where to check next. There wasn’t any other place in the Fibonacci Ward his copy could’ve been checking, if he followed reason. Where was he? 

       Suddenly, he heard commotion. 

“Where... Where are you...?!”

       There, coming from the houses further down, he saw a young man bearing traditional Japanese clothes, looking around as though in a frenzy. Not a bizarre sight on its own, until his eyes met the boy’s face. Their eyes locked, mutual gaze frozen as they processed the other’s presence. 

       Naoto Kurogane and Naoto Terumi locked eyes for that single moment. 

       And then, Terumi’s expression shifted to pure, unrelenting horror.

“Y-You...!!”

       He turned to run.

“Hey, wait!”

       But Kurogane was quick to close in on him, quickly grabbing his other self by the arm. 

“Let go!!! Lemme go, dammit!!”

“Settle down. We need to talk, you and me.”

       That didn’t seem to calm Terumi down any, and the boy continued to struggle. 

       This was going nowhere. 

       And Naoto Kurogane’s patience was running thin.

“--I’m not gonna repeat myself.”

“Settle. Down.”

       The smell of iron stained the air as Kurogane’s grip tightened. Terumi flinched, turning to see his other self staring him down. Crimson mist surrounded them both, with the original’s piercing red eyes glaring straight into his soul. Suddenly, Naoto Terumi felt any strength he had leaving his body.

“...Damn it...”

       It didn’t take long for Naoto to cut to the chase. Using the voicemail as proof, he explained everything. The virus, the potential death awaiting his copy, everything. All the while the copy was forced to listen... Listen as all he believed was crushed right before him. Listen as his very life was reduced to nothing more than some farce--just a stepping stone for some original to move past. 

“...”

       He was silent, after all was said and done. What could he respond to any of this with? 

“And that’s why we need to use this weird app, SGO. If we use this, we can save you. Get you fixed up, cure whatever this weird virus is. All I need from you is for you to let me do this.”

       Terumi turned to look at Kurogane as though he’d just said he was going to sprout wings and fly.

“You want me to trust you to do that? To just--to just cram me in some app, is that what you’re saying?!”

“What? No, what I’m saying is that I’m trying to save you! You’re going to die if I don’t do this!” 

       Kurogane held up the phone, displaying the rather chintzy-looking app interface for his other to see clearly.

“Just tap this button, and we can solve all of this. You can go back to your old life, with your family, your friends, everything. Just like it was.”

       And then, something snapped in Terumi. 

“--Just like it was?”

“Huh?”

       Terumi yanked his arm from Kurogane’s grip, and without any restraint, the boy’s outrage came flooding out.

“How am I supposed to just go back to the way things were like this?! To pretending my life has any sort of purpose?! If I’m supposed to be some... some ‘copy’, then what the hell does it even matter!! I refuse to believe I’m any kind of cheap knock-off of the ‘real’ Naoto!!”

“You keep waving that damn phone around like it’s supposed to mean anything--how do I even know to trust you?! Maybe you’re the copy!! This could all be some elaborate trap! How am I supposed to know you’re the original, how am I supposed to trust you on that?! How am I--”

“THAT’S ENOUGH!”

       Kurogane’s voiced boomed in a manner he never thought capable from him. 

“...Look. This isn’t about who’s real or who isn’t. Maybe you are the original Naoto. Maybe I am the copy. Who knows? Who cares? That doesn’t mean either of us suddenly doesn’t matter. What does matter, though, is that if I don’t do this, you are going to die. Both of us are going to die. I wouldn’t lie about this, and you can trust me on this, because I know you wouldn’t lie about this, either.”

“Naoto. No matter what, you’re you. I’m me. And we need to work together on this. Okay?”

       There was silence between the two of them. Terumi suddenly found himself unable to look his other in the eye. After a few moments of crushing silence, he spoke.

“Pyrrha.”

“Pyrrha? What about her?”

“Pyrrha--The Pyrrha from my world, I need to... I need to know that she’s alright. She’s gotta be caught up in all this too, right? I can’t leave until I know she’s safe from this virus stuff too.”

       The Pyrrha from his world? Were they friends in that world, too? 

“Pyrrha’s probably out chasing her other self like the rest of us... If I can get in touch with her, that’ll give us a good lead on finding your Pyrrha.”

       And so, with Terumi watching him with bated breath, Kurogane flipped open his contacts. After a string of character inputs and a press of the send button, he’d stand, waiting for her response. 

“Alright. Now we wait.”

       Terumi closed in, placing a hand on his other’s shoulder to peer at his phone. 

       And, for a split second, Naoto Kurogane felt something. It felt like a shock of some kind, like something had been transferred the moment the two of them made contact. He felt his mind stutter for just a moment, before returning to normal.

       Not knowing what exactly it was, he wrote it off as just his other accidentally discharging some build-up static on him, and continued to stare at his notifications.

       He had all of a second of conscious thought before everything went red. 

       To describe what exactly he’d felt in that instant was a matter that words alone couldn’t accurately convey. Pain. Immense, immeasurable--it was as though every single molecule of his body was screaming in agony. 

       And with that pain, came the memories. 

       He saw a reality where he lost everything. Where he watched his entire family be slaughtered before his eyes. Where his younger sister became a monster hellbent on killing him. Where he died, where his world died. A flood of never-ending tragedy and heartbreak, where each spark of hope was only the kindling for further pain. 

       Naoto Terumi saw hell. A hell where he was fated to lose everything. 

       Everything went black. He wasn’t thinking when he took his next actions. All he knew was he needed to run--to get out. He needed to get as far away from that reality as possible. There, he lost everything that mattered to him. There, the world itself thought him a threat, and acted in every imaginable way to try and kill him. 

       He didn’t want anything to do with that reality. It didn’t matter what risk he needed to take, what danger he had to put himself through--he could not let that version of himself become real. He wasn’t going to let his life be taken from him. 

       Fear gripped his very soul. If this was what he was going through, then... What about everyone else? Thoughts of various souls, friends and family alike, poured through his mind. 

       But one name, one name, in particular stood above them.

       Pyrrha. What about Pyrrha? Was she going through this, too? Oh gods, no, what if her other self was-- 

       He needed to get to her, he needed to make sure she was okay. 

       He had to find her.

“Please... P-Please--”

       Please be alright.

       After everything he’d gone through, one would think Naoto Kurogane would have gotten used to bizarre happenings. And yet, here he was.

       A lone Christmas present sitting at his bedside, waiting to be opened. For an otherwise innocuous situation, it sure felt like somebody had planted a grenade in his room. 

“...”

       A red box wrapped in a delicate white ribbon. It shouldn’t have bothered him so much. Anyone who wouldn’t have lived through what he had would say so. But in his experiences, mysterious presents suddenly appearing in his room usually meant something bad was about to happen. 

       It didn’t seem to weigh that much. He didn’t hear any ticking come from it, either. Whatever was inside of it, it didn’t seem to be anything huge. But he knew he couldn’t count on that assumption, either. 

       He’d delayed opening the box for a few days, waiting and watching everyone else opening theirs. So far, most seemed to be joyous gifts--celebratory presents granting the person’s wildest dreams. A few others seemed to get something... less wonderful. Twisted nightmares, most of which he assumed were distortions of the recipient’s own wishes. 

       One would give him something truly special. The other would torment him.

       He’d undergone enough torment already. He didn’t like the idea of willingly subjecting himself to more. But on the other hand, if this was one of the presents that brought something good, he’d be depriving himself of the same happiness. 

       He thought about what he really wanted to see right now. Who he really wanted to see. With everything happening, the name came immediately. 

        When he thought about seeing her again, he really only had one choice he could make.

       So, with a deep breath, he began to unwrap the ribbon of the box. And lightly removed the top--

                            POP!!

“The f--?!”

       He jumped back as a cloud of red and green smoke erupted from the present box. Some sort of holiday-themed smoke bomb? Whatever it was, something was coming out from the box. His hair quickly turned white, crimson-red eyes glaring right into the smoke as he assumed a combat stance.

       And as soon as the smoke faded, his stance immediately faltered.

“R--...Ra...”

       Amidst the smoke, summoned from the gift, was a single vampire. Long, flowing blonde hair tied in a ponytail by a ribbon resembling rabbit’s ears. Delicate features resembling that of a porcelain doll--albeit bearing potentially the haughtiest expression he could think of. Dressed in that same outfit Aunt Yuki had forced her into that day he brought her back to their apartment. 

“That’s quite the foolish expression on your face. Are you--”

       She didn’t even get to finish her sentence before he ran forward and wrapped himself around her. 

       Silence filled the air. He couldn’t see the expression on Raquel’s face, but he imagined her eyes had gone wider than he’d ever seen them. 

       A few seconds went by.

“...Naoto. You’re squeezing me a little too tightly.”

“Just... Please. Let me have this for a bit.”

       She didn’t say anything else. He just felt her arms wrapping around him.

       Without any words, they both could tell. 

       They’d both needed this.

If your character isn’t on this list, make sure to check this page to see how many stars that character has earned this month! Stars can be used for purchases at the marketplace.

The blogs that were removed from the Isola Radiale masterlist are under the cut. Note that both blogs with broken links and deactivated accounts will be included both at the top of this list and in their proper categories.

If you were removed in error, please simply send a re-application message. Several different people work on the activity checks, so it’s possible there are mistakes! If this happens to you, you will be able to keep everything you previously had, you just may be placed in a different residence.

Our general activity rules regarding checks are as follows:

Make at least two in-character posts during a calendar month (for instance, if the activity check is for January, have two in-character posts between the 1st and 31st of January).

Only one meme response of 300+ words counts as activity.

Only one drabble of 500+ words counts as activity.

One-liners or minis not tagged #isola mini also do not count.

Please Note: If you are removed during two consecutive activity checks, you will not be allowed to re-apply as that character for one calendar month.

Additionally, anyone removed during the activity check will have a 12-hour window from the time of posting to re-claim their character. Any character not reclaimed during that period will be open to the community at large.
