Truth be told she was a little bit warm, but not so much that Julian would be able to tell unless he was pointing a tricorder at her - practiced medical eyes or not. "I'm not about to get worked up over one of Quark's ... embellishments."

The 'embellishment' in question was moving around behind her now, entirely too close and entirely too muscular, removing the coat from her shoulders while all but breathing in the scent of her hair. If he'd been even remotely real he probably would have earned a sharp elbow for his trouble, but Thera wasn't going to fuss about a hologram in her personal space; any more than she had about the sultry smile and enticing kiss on her hand that this one had already thrown in.

Well! Starbases had certainly improved their game since she was out here last!

Thera peered through the viewing port of the transport vessel as it made its slow and no doubt majestic way toward the dock. The closer they drew to the base the less could be seen of its sparkling 'star' configuration (whether that be practical or for effect), but more of the support struts, internal traffic and the layers of gleaming buildings that lined the nearest of the extended arms.

Wait. Why was she looking at support struts, again? The whole 'retraining as an engineer' thing must have gone to her head!

She was also, it occurred to her belatedly, not showing sufficient attention to her 'husband'. Or, rather, Julian. Thera wasn't entirely sure who had come up with the 'embellishment' to their cover story that they be newly-weds, but that person was in trouble if she ever found out. At least she and he were good enough friends that they were in more danger of laughter about it than tears.

So far, anyway.

"Look, darling!" Her tongue was just a little bit in her cheek even now, though they didn't really have to start playing the roles until they disembarked, "Isn't it lovely? Do you think we can see our hotel from here?"
