Mun is 21+ OOC, and does not write with minors. There can/will be some mature themes featured on this blog, and I will do my best to tag obvious triggers, but if there’s something I am missing/you’d like to have tagged, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Smut will be limited on this blog as this mun typically prefers to fade to black, despite being of age, but if it is present, will always be placed under a readmore.

As far as formatting goes, the most I tend to use is regular small text! Minor formatting in replies is alright, but anything too complicated that hinders my ability to read/comprehend a reply would be preferred against. 

I tend to be pretty active/speedy with replies, but life does sometimes get in the way and muse is fickle! Plus, with Tumblr’s wonky activity system, there is always the chance that I did just genuinely miss a reply! If you feel that I’ve taken a bit longer than normal to get back to you, don’t be afraid to give me a small nudge, because chances are it was not intentional.

I’ll write with anyone, but do understand that two styles don’t always work well together and there is no hard feelings about a desire to drop threads!

I’m not always the quickest to follow back as I tend to prefer my dash to consist of current writing partners, but am always searching for new partners! 1. What is your favourite trope to RP?

Forbidden relationships... but I’ve already talked about that way back in the depths of my blog, so instead I’ll share a close second. I really enjoy writing two-faced characters - ones with hidden motivations.

One of my favourite characters I’ve written was ORAS Tabitha. He was the one villain I didn’t struggle with writing - as I have a bit of a habit of making villains too ‘soft’, admittedly - and I really want to muse him again at one point. I characterized him as being outwardly quite friendly, even if he was smug or snarky sometimes - but secretly he wanted to overthrow his boss for his own gain. It was probably the most fun I had playing a villain, and I would really like to touch this trope more often!

6. Name 3 things you love most about your muse.

Ah, this is a tough one to answer so you are going to get kind of sucky answers for this because I really don’t know what else to say here. Oops.

I... like his humour. Honestly, his humour is entirely me pushing dad jokes onto him - I don’t think he makes any in canon actually - but I think it makes him very fun to write. I can slip in fun little puns into almost any thread, and I always look forwards to seeing how I can use dumb jokes with him.

I like how versatile he is. I think I’ve hit a sweet spot where he isn’t fully comedy relief but he also isn’t fully a grumpy old man. He can be used in more serious situations without it feeling like I’m forcing it, while he can also partake in crack interactions or more lighthearted threads without it feeling ham-fisted.

I like... how far he has come in his development. He started off as a crack muse, and over the past 2 years he’s developed into the most complex character I have ever written - and I love that about him. It gives me a feeling of pride, to be honest.

7. What is one overrated roleplay trend?

I really hope I don’t offend anyone with this section...

Roleplay themes where the lightest thing on the page is a mid-tone gray, and the darkest thing is a... mid-tone gray, and then sometimes there will be an extremely saturated accent colour along with it. It’s an aesthetic that I see very often that I think is both overrated and harmful.

I’m going to talk more about this under the cut.

Basically, themes that look like this. This aesthetic is very common, I’ve noticed. 

My right eye has 20/50 vision and an astigmatism. My left eye is a bit better, but not great. If I close my left eye, I can barely read what I am typing right now. This means that my left eye has to overcompensate for what my right eye struggles with, leading to eye strain quite quickly - and that is especially true on low contrast themes.

With both eyes open, I can see my screen fairly well, but I have to strain my eyes to be able to see even fully legible text. For anything that has extremely low contrast or is hard to read? Well... this is what I see when I look at that theme.

I cannot read this.

The combination of gray-on-gray ( or light gray-on-white, or dark-gray on black, or whatever other low-contrast scheme ) with the extra effort I need to put in to read anything makes the strain too much to handle. I know that people don’t mean to make their blogs hard to read, and that there is no ill will behind it, but I implore people to try to make the effort to make your blogs easy to read. This is a hobby based around reading and writing, it shouldn’t be hard for me to read what you write!

Now. Pure white text on a white background has 1:1 contrast ratio - pure black on white has a 21:1 contrast ratio.

A bit of Googling has told me that the ideal bare minimum contrast for web design is...

fonts having a ratio of 4.5:1 (regular fonts)

fonts having a ratio of 3:1 (bold fonts (>18px) + large fonts (>24px))

graphical elements having a 3:1 ratio (this one is harder to determine)

This is considered the absolute minimum for perfectly sighted users to be able to read without difficulty. If your blog doesn’t meet that minimum, people are going to struggle to read your posts. Even if it did meet that minimum, a 7:1 and 4.5:1 ratio is desired for each group of fonts respectively - that way it will be more legible to people have have poorer eyesight.

If your blog uses only the colours in my little psd example image, it will fail even in the absolute minimum. The colours on this mock-up got something like a 2.5:1 ratio for the regular text and a 1.4:1 on the bold text. I don’t understand why these types of graphics are so common when even perfectly-sighted people will struggle with them!

I actually got curious and checked my theme as I was writing this. My posts have a 12:1 ratio, with some spots having an 8:1 ratio ( italics + my description ). I also adjusted some colours on my blog which weren’t quite meeting those standards ( bold italics + the little clicky thing to open my links - they both met the minimum but I wanted them to be better! ) and my eyes are already thanking me for it.

If you have a theme with low contrast, I promise you that adjusting your font colour or your background colour will go a long way in making your blog easy to read.

With the different ways Jughead has referred to Tabitha, like when he called her his "muse", "someone I trust", and "friend". And Tabitha referring to herself like when she told Jessica she was Jughead's "girlfriend". if you can think of any other instances, please add them too! :)

Welcome to the Librarian’s Suggestions!

Today’s Theme: Yoga Hosers (Film)

Plot: Two girls with the same name are best friends who juggle high school and a part time job at a convenience store. The only things they’re interested in are social media, their amateur band, and yoga, to the dismay of their peers and families. One day, a popular senior from their school stops by the convenience store and invites the pair to a party the next day. Unfortunately, the girls are informed that they need to work the store on Friday, forcing them to try to shift things around so the party can happen while they work. Eventually the girls discover the convenience store is built over an old gathering place for the Nazis and the electricity powering the store has brought some of them back to life. (In sausage form.) The pair team up with a local hunter to stop the Neo-Nazis, using their yoga skills to defeat them.

Characters

Colleen Collette: A sarcastic teen who works part-time at her father’s convenience store Eh-2-Zed. Close friends with Colleen McKenzie, the pair stick together as they navigate high school and life. Often the one delivering witty one-liners.

Colleen McKenzie: The best friend of Colleen C. She acts slightly more normal, harboring a crush on senior student Hunter and eagerly trying to look cool while around him.

Yogi Bayer: The yoga instructor who teaches the two Colleens. He believes that yoga is the way to solve any issues. The girls take this to heart when they square off against the Neo-Nazis in the film.

Bob Collette: Colleen C.’s father and the owner of Eh-2-Zed. He is dating a woman named Tabitha, whom his daughter dislikes. Often he makes his daughter and her best friend work shifts in his store, much to their dismay. He eventually leaves on a spontaneous trip to Niagara Falls with his girlfriend, making the girls work the store on Friday, the night of the party.

Hunter Calloway: A popular and attractive high school senior. Colleen M. has a huge crush on him and desires to be noticed by him. He pays a visit to Eh-2-Zed to pick-up indigestion medicine for his friend Gordon, and invites both Colleens to his senior party on Friday.

Guy LaPointe: A legendary man-hunter of the Canadian region. He has proof that the Neo-Nazis, reborn as bratwurst sausage soldiers called Bratzis, exist. When the Colleens are arrested in accordance with the murders of Hunter and Gordon (who were actually murdered by the Bratzis), he interrogates them and agrees to team up with the girls to defeat the rest of the Bratzis.

Possible Plots

Your muse and their best friend are forced to work a shift at the convenience store on the worst night possible, taking a late shift. After the convenience store experiences a power outage, your muse discovers they’re not alone.

Your muse has been trying to find proof of the Neo-Nazis existing in the area and decide to follow a tip after two teens are arrested.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin OST + My OCs.

So I’ve been playing Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, and I particularly liked and still liking the characters’ soundtrack. So I wanted to integrate the said themes to my muses, and I do think they fit.

So the 8 muses with their respective theme that I’ve chosen for them under the cut;

Chloe - Lost Memories (Isabella’s theme).

Fey - Supreme Logician (Lin’s theme). (Although there is another theme that fits her more, but this could do as well.) 

Harley - Hero of Legend (Forsythe ‘s theme).

Irvall -  Proud Soldier (Gage’s theme). 

Kane - We Will Prevail (Will’s theme). 

Citrine - Goddess of Revenge (Tasha’s theme).

Quatra - Mr. Bear (Penny’s theme). 

Trie -  Flight of the Coward (Waylon’s theme).

Nyx - Cruel Rose (Tabitha’s theme).

Benton - Hope Never Dies (Brenner’s theme).  (Yes, Benton is purely based on this character himself, so he is the main inspiration.)

Interestingly- it may have been this lack of faith in her life, that allowed her to study ghost types in a critical- analytical manner.

I like to imagine that a reason, for ghost types not being as well- researched as the other ones could have something to do with their existance likely clashing with religious beliefs. Making them into some kind of taboo in most regions, so there is a certain resistance to seeking them out as research subjects.

TLDNTR: Agatha’s contact with religion is pretty limited to her childhood- her time living in her parents’ household, once she left it- she abandoned it completely. Even to this day, she has never opted out of this decision.

// Much like Agatha, he too was raised by religious parents. That as expected- didn’t take Blaine’s carreer interest too well, in his case- there was a huge intereference from his parents in an attempt to hold him back from it.

From trying to talk him out of it, to dragging him into religious cults- to try and convert him. Despite all of their attempts, Blaine succeeded in getting into college- and away from their grasp. Needless to say how becoming a scientist- was pretty much the death of his bond with his parents. There were attempts to try and amend things later on, but- they all flew past Blaine- who was way too keen on his studies/researches/trainning.

“As a scientist, I am not trying to find- nor explain God. I’m here to deny his existance.”

It’s safe to say how after his experience with his parents, he has become spiteful- of just about anyone who holds a religious belief (regardless of what it could be). In his eyes, they look ignorants- making fools of themselves- sheep in a herd. He looks down upon them all. Interestingly, the only ones who seem to be the exception to this are Pryce and mr.Fuji.

ALSO when the case of the Mewtwo project, was brought into the public’s knowledge- the religious crowd in Kanto were amongst the first ones to condemn the experiment solely off their beliefs.

Pryce alongside his wife and children hold religious beliefs, they have faith. They were introduced since very early on their lives- and did the same thing to their kids.

Contrary to what people expect- his faith NEVER got in the way of his studies when he was going through the process of applying to the professor position. If anything, he cherished the fact he could comprehend/study their God’s creations.

Pryce’s faith serves AS A MAJOR inspiration for his artistic work, a few of his ice sculptures carry a heavy religious subject/them to them or depict a scene from their myths/religion’s story.

Don’t assume that his passion for his faith, makes him into some kind of radical religious man- he is incredibly level-headed. And isn’t shy to show how his faith, has influenced him in certain aspects.

Team magma was some kind of cult- Tabitha’s faith was entirely poured onto Maxie, he acted and behaved just like a fanatic. Seeing their Leader fail miserably, was his wake up call.

Tabitha before joining the organization, he had a pretty empty head- his parents didn’t even bother to introduce him to a religion.

He was very easily PERSUADED BY TEAM MAGMA’S PROMISES.

Even after this whole fiasco- Tabitha has never joined any cult/religion. He really doesn’t wish to return, to what he used to be.

// Being part of a kalosian family, but born into Hoenn- a far away land from his parents’ homeland meant that there weren’t much- if any at all places where they could follow their faith.

Juan is the middle sibling- meaning that he and his younger sister, had literal no contact with religion. The same can’t be said for the older brother- who had some of it, very early on his life.

To an extent this was benefential for Juan- he never struggled with coming into terms with his own sexuality, and he could have a neutral look into art and performances when he was studying it.

Truly the only time in his life he had the most contact with it, was during his time in Kalos- when he was in college. Since then, his contact with it, has been kept to a minimun.

 Palmer isn’t all that different from Pryce- as in he was introduced since very early on his life, he and his wife follow their religion- as much as they can. But he opted, to keep his son out of it- keeping his contact with it minimun.

He decided to leave it up for his son- if he is interested in it, then they will give him their teachings. But so far, it is pretty evident how Barry isn’t showing any interest to it anytime soon.

Currently he isn’t as religious as he used to be, which isn’t a good thing in his eyes- he really wished he had the time to dedicate some time to his faith.

Religion for Riley, is an interesting case. In both households he was raised in- arceusism has ALWAYS been present- especially in his mother’s. Who would “use” it, as some kind of shield from what Riley was.

She really was affected, after his father left her before their child was even born. She saw Riley, as some form of God’s punishment for her sins. After he was taken away from her, she went on to try and become a nun at a church- in an attempt to redeem herself.

At his adoptive family- things were a whole lot tamer, they weren’t as driven by their faith as his mother was. For the most part he ignored religion, for the exception of the subject of rebirth- something that compliments his belief of being related to Sir. Aaron.

The belief of being the legendary knight’s rebirth, is definetely fed by all the stories within the arceusism. He uses them in some distorted way, to support his idea.

His interpretation is the only correct one, he won’t even give a care about others. Try to deny it, and you’re bound to find yourself trapped in a nonsensical argument- clearly nothing more than just RIley’s projections of what he deems to be right/the truth.

Brendan has never followed any religion- but travelling the world, has given him the chance to get a taste of what is out there! He is most definetely intrigued by it, and finds them to be fascinating.

His mother wanted him to be introduced to it, when they still were living in Johto- however her plans didn’t come into fruition due to them moving into Hoenn sometime later. It frustrated her, but at the same time, never mopped about it.

If anything, now that her son is exploring the world- she can’t help but be thrilled by his fascination to the religions found throughout the regions.

When Rowan set out to go through his evolutions research, he NEVER had any goal to go against the arceusism’s views of the world and creation. Because for the longest time, he used to be a believer/follower of it- however it was his interaction with people that drove him out of his faith.

But look and behold- he managed to put out something, that basically goes against the principle of the World’s creation. Because of it, he was shunned out of the cult- and to this day there is a huge resistance to accepting his thesis/work.

A newly wed couple, is gifted a pokemon egg- as a sign of their union by the church. This is how Rowan came to obtain a Togepi, who later evolved into his Togekiss- which was gifted to them by his parents.

Thankfully- not having his religious belief around, it meant less one thing he had to be concerned/stressed about when he came to have his affair with Richard.

Six; Favorite Colors --

I'd have to say my favorite color of all time is pink. Hot pink, soft pink, pastel pink, neon pink, magenta to salmon... I love pink.

I also love reds and oranges and purples. Blues also come in closely; yellow is a color I'm very much "meh" on. Green... Overall, I'd say I hate it in general terms fjfjshhsjdjfh

Seven; Favorite Books --

I haven't read it in a while, but I remember that I loved "The Cat Who..." series. It was just a fun time. I should read them again...

Warriors was another that I was head over heels for, a while back. Never finished the series, though -- I got to the end of the third arc, read a couple of the extra books, then fell out of reading them.

"The Secret Piano" is also a good book, but it's... Not so much a fiction book than a translated autobiography by Zhu Xiao-Mei. It was a bit of a difficult read (for me, at least), but it's definitely a good book to read if you're interested in what happened during the cultural revolution in China.

Nine; Last Film Watched --

Oh god I don't remember. We're gonna count the last film that I chose to watch, since that's easier to remember. Think it was called "Olden Time"? It was an animated short film about an uhhhhh... think of Lumiere and Cogsworth from BatB? YEAH. Except with a TV and a windup cat doll. Old 50s-ish era TV set gets tossed out, meets a little windup cat doll. Things go from there.

It's a cute little bit of animation! Also sad at bits. I don't remember how it went, really, it's been around a year, at LEAST since I've seen it, but it was good. Do recommend.

Ten; Inspiration for Muse --

I've got so many, you'd have to ask for specifics, but a short list:

Eloise, Narua, Nim, Berriath, Tabitha, Carmen, and Fraeswys were based off of original/previous characters I've had in the past.

The rest are original to FFXIV-verse, and the starting point for them always has been "let's take a hook and build off that" (i.e, Yellow Dove: Maelstrom. Sechen: Xaela. Ryoko: Astrologan and Geisha.)

Eleven; Dream Job --

I don't remember if I've said it on my blog before, but my DREAM dream job would be as a paramedic.

My second dream job and the one I'm actually shooting for is to be a piano teacher. It's just... I love it so much, and the thought of passing on that knowledge and helping other people work to play it is just something that makes me happy. It won't be easy, but I'd think it rewarding.

As for "Infiniteleft".... I have NO IDEA why I went with this, but.
