i actually love roleplaying as a bard who lacks confidence in baldur's gate 3 because you have to come up with an explanation for why they're a dialogue god with a busted charisma stat who gets class-specific options like this:

and part of my explanation is that my tav is normally so earnest and genuinely caring that it makes people like him and trust what he says. the other part of it is that he's really good at faking confidence and when he said this he was internally going "oh my god what am i even doing. nobody would be stupid enough to fall for such an absurd act. what if i get lae'zel killed--oh. wait. they did believe me! nice!"

possess other potential supernatural abilities & supernatural elements to their mere existence

public opinion on them drastically shifts now and then

have been known to lead humans to complete ruin, knowingly or unknowingly

can and will mess with humans, playing tricks/being a minor annoyance at best and killing people at worst

"rituals" can be conducted for them in attempts to "appease" them or prevent them from causing any harm/annoyance

on a technical lit analysis level, are representative of a [human] fear (that technology will "replace us")

... this was supposed to be a cute au for them being royalty. how the fuck did one end up as a fish, the other went from an ox to a lion and my cringefail scientist son is also there now along with a robot he made cuz he wanted to spy on the fish and ox-lion and their freaky ass looking kid, but in the previous timeline the robot was made by the ox and was there as a protector for the freaky kid.
