bakugo would be the type of dad who for the life of him cannot say no to his little girl.
k.bakugo
♰ girldad ! bakugo fluff <333
Tumblr media
he never imagined himself as a family man, he’d always had the idea that he’d work his ass off for number one and just.. do that forever?
he kept that mindset right up until he met you. pretty little thing with a mouth just as snappy as his and that was all it took for him to be whipped.
to say you swept him of his feet would be an understatement. he physically bumped into you in his agency building and in return you raised your voice at him and told him to watch where the fuck he’s going.
the rest is certainly history, he chases after you and you let him. much to his delight your married a mere 3 years later, laughing at the stupidity of your first meeting.
when discussing children you decide on one for now, bakugo grew up and only child and he quite enjoyed being the center of his parents attention, he only wishes the same for his own.
your pregnant in no time, thanks to his… persistent efforts and he can’t contain the love he has for you as you begin to swell. he completely dotes on you.
your hungry? a three course meal is on its way. your sleepy? he’s carrying you bridal style, laying you down in bed and tucking you in. you deserve only best in his eyes, just as his little girl will.
he doesn’t leave you or the baby’s side for weeks after the birth, your begging him to go back to work at this point because kirishima cannot work another 16 hour shift to cover for him.
he hates every minute he spends away from you, it’s spent grumbling about how he’d much rather be curled up in bed with you. he drops in the charts the first year the child is born but he doesn’t care, he can’t care, not when he’s coming home to you- his beautiful wife and his pride and joy of a baby girl.
as the kid gets older he starts working full time again, you too go back to work a couple days a week while your child’s at school, he insists that you don’t- he takes good enough care of you right?? but you do it anyway, it’s more for something to do rather than for the income.
now spending more time away from his kid- the time he does spend with her he cherishes every minute, they’re baking cookies, he’s taking her shopping, he’s spoiling her rotten :(.
she feels a little sick and wants to stay off school? suddenly they’re both begging you to let her stay off and when you finally agree- he’s calling into work saying he can’t make it so they can spend the day together.
he helps her with quirk training when she insists she wants to be a hero just like daddy. he cries the first time he hears it, unable to control the surge of joy he feels seeing his kids face looking up at him with admiration.
he takes her into the agency to meet all her favorite pro heros- he sets up play dates with his friends kids so his little angel can grow up around kids her age.
as she grows he makes sure that they never lose their closeness- he promises her that she can tell him anything and she does, she truely the light of his life.
it’s the last year of middle school for his girl when he gets the phone call he’s been dreading for years- she got into a fight today in school, a serious one too it seems and he’s rushing as fast as he possibly can, he doesn’t even take the time to phone you because he’s so worried, he makes a mental note to call you the second he’s out of the place.
he bursts through the door and he can’t help the sigh of relief he lets out when he sees that she’s okay, infact she’s not ruffed up at all- which only makes him more worried. had his kid been the one to start the fight? his little angel?
the principal explains the situation pretty clearly, the other kid involved admitted that they had been purposely attempting to get under her skin- using his name to do it.
he’s furious of course- but he can’t help overwhelming happiness that bubbles in his throat when he realises this is your first fight- a fight that you had only started to protect his name.
he thanks the principal for his time and escorts his kid out, she’s silent the entire walk back to the car while he fights back a smirk- “are you mad at me?” she looks up at him from her place in the passenger seat and he just bursts into a smile-
“let’s go get some ice cream kid- just don’t tell your mother about this alright?”

I'd like to hear about your hw rewrite ideas 👀
- hero-of-the-wolf
*cracks knuckles* gladly!
I mostly just have notes on fleshing out the story, changing a few characters, actually fitting the game and other era stuff in with canon in a way that might make sense and things like that. And I only really have stuff about the base game since that’s the one I own, so I’m not going to go into dlc/definitive edition stuff as much. I’m going to focus on the three different displaced eras mostly in this post just because that’s what I’ve mostly got fleshed out the most :)
But first I also have to mention a couple other things first:
Kid Link has been upgraded to story mode character, instead of merely unlockable in that one mode. Sheik has a much more legitimate reason to exist and Impa realizes much earlier that this random Sheikah warrior is actually the missing Zelda. Cia still looks suggestive, but has clothes that look more like clothes and not just underwear. She and Lana have the same skin tone. And I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting but that’s the main stuff. Moving on!
Skyward Sword
I’m placing this one about... hm. I actually have two ideas here about that.
The first is to have this take place a few hundred years before skyward sword, and be only a distant history lesson by the time sksw itself rolls around, which would make sense but for the fact that Skyloft looks a little too much like it does in sksw to be that far off.
The other idea is to make it be fifty or so years before sksw, and be part of the reason Skyloft isn’t all that populated. The bit of war that touched them took out a fair amount of the population, and Gaepora was a kid around when this all went down, which inspired him to start the knight academy when he was older. Both have their pros and cons, though I think I’m leaning towards the second.
That’s the biggest thing I’m changing for this era, though I will address the Groosenator paradox, being “how can the Groosenator be around to stop the imprisonef if this is before Groose is even born”. Well you see, canons in loz have two names: canon, and Groosenator. The army from hw brings their canons along with them when they go to sksw’s era, and they call them groosenators because they’re from an era after they were invented. Bam.
Ocarina of Time
Placing the time for this one is tricky, since Ruto is an adult, but I don’t know if she’s like... gone through oot..? Is this the mm/tp timeline where Link is still around? Is this the ww timeline where Link left? I do not know. And I don’t know which makes more sense.
Aside from the Sheik stuff I’m largely leaving this bit untouched. I think it would be fun to include more sages, maybe even oot Zelda, but admittedly I haven’t thought this one through quite as much (except for the sheik stuff).
Twilight princess
I’m placing the era of twilight in this game as happening after tp itself. “But Peggy where’s tp Link then” he’s either on vacation so far away he didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late or Cia accidentally yeeted him to botw as a wolf. Don’t worry about it.
Anywho this part begins with Lana heading to twilight-era Hyrule, finding it absolutely covered in twilight, and later meeting Agitha and Midna. In my version I’m kicking out Agitha as a main playable character, because out of all the cool characters in twilight princess they picked her?? The bug girl?? She’s nice and all but no. Sorry. She can still be around as part of the story (saving her makes a good level mechanic), but not as a major player. She can even be playable still, but not as a major person.
I’m replacing her with the Resistance. Lana gets to the era of twilight and finds Rusl, Shad, Ashei, and maybe Auru (don’t know if he’d be active enough to want to fight) trying fruitlessly to protect Kakariko, figure out what the heck is going on, where the huge influx of monsters came from, and how the heckin twilight is back. Lana explains about the monsters, but can’t tell them much about the twilight. Somewhere in here Midna shows up on her hunt for Cia, furious at being an imp again, even more furious about the twilight spread over Hyrule again, and especially majorly furious that Zant is somehow back. The game never explains this, but I’m saying that Cia somehow brought him back. Or he was secretly not dead and laying low. One of those.
The Resistance goes along with Lana (and Midna once they convince her they’re on the same side) to stop Zant (Zelda maybe shows up for a bit, but she’s holding down the fort in Hyrule, so after a quick “oh crap Midna’s here that’s bad”, she’s not around as much). I figure the Resistance members are all one “character” in that each combo is like, a different one of them or something. Or they’d all be different lol idk. This is getting really long and I’m running out of steam haha.
But yeah those are my thoughts on those parts at least— I have more thoughts about character interactions and some other random things, but like I said this is really long XD hopefully that answers your question at least a little :)

It was late evening when Ochako, Toga, Bakugo, and Izuku slipped into a booth at a quiet restaurant. The city outside buzzed with the usual late-night energy, but inside, it was all low lights and hushed conversations, a perfect escape from their busy lives as pro-heroes.
Toga sat beside Ochako, twirling a strand of blonde hair around her finger, her gaze flicking between the others with a gleam of curiosity. Across from them, Bakugo and Izuku sat in an easy silence, though Bakugo had his arms crossed, looking as stoic as ever. It was only their second double date since graduation, but the familiarity between them was undeniable.
“I didn’t expect you two to settle into hero work so fast,” Ochako remarked, looking at Izuku and Bakugo. “It’s like you were born for it.”
Bakugo raised an eyebrow, his voice casual but sharp. “Tch, like you thought anything else would happen? We were the top students at UA for a reason.”
Izuku smiled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. “Bakugo’s right. I guess we just… adjusted quickly. There’s still a lot to learn, though.”
Toga chuckled, glancing at Ochako. “Look at them. Already acting like seasoned pros.”
“Hey, they were always like this,” Ochako teased, giving Toga a playful nudge. “Izuku’s been chasing after Bakugo since we were kids. It’s not a surprise he’s keeping up now.”
Izuku’s face flushed at the mention, his eyes widening slightly. “I-It’s not like that!”
Bakugo snorted. “It’s exactly like that, Deku. You never quit.”
Ochako grinned. “Yeah, and who kept pushing him down every chance you got?”
Bakugo’s expression darkened, though there wasn’t real anger behind it. “That’s ancient history. I don’t push him around anymore.”
“You just shout at him instead,” Toga quipped, resting her chin in her hand. “Real improvement, Katsuki.”
Bakugo gave her a look, but before he could say anything, Izuku quickly interjected. “It’s fine. Bakugo’s... mellowed out.”
Ochako couldn’t help but laugh. “If this is ‘mellowed,’ I’m scared to think what he was like before.”
“He’s always been the same,” Izuku added, his voice softening. “Just… more focused now.”
Bakugo shrugged, not arguing. He seemed content with the quiet moment, though his eyes kept flicking toward Izuku every so often, like he was making sure everything was still in place, still familiar. Their relationship had changed, sure, but that intensity between them was still there.
Toga, watching closely, leaned in toward Ochako. “You ever think how weird it is that we’re all sitting here like this? After everything?”
Ochako thought about it for a second, her fingers playing with the edge of her drink. “Yeah. It’s pretty wild, when you think about it. We used to be on completely opposite sides, and now… we’re here.”
Toga smirked. “Guess I wasn’t so bad after all, huh?”
Ochako gave her a soft smile. “No, you were always... more complicated than that.”
The two shared a quiet moment, a kind of understanding that ran deep. Toga had been a villain, someone who Ochako had fought more than once. But now? They were here, together, and it felt right in a way that didn’t need explaining.
Across the table, Bakugo sighed, leaning back in his seat. “You’re all acting like this is some big deal. We grew up. End of story.”
Ochako rolled her eyes. “Leave it to Bakugo to downplay everything.”
Toga snickered. “That’s his thing. You’d think he’d be a little more romantic, huh, Izuku?”
Izuku’s face turned pink as he glanced at Bakugo nervously. “W-Well, I mean, he has his moments…”
Bakugo shot a glare at Toga. “Don’t drag me into this.”
Ochako leaned forward, clearly enjoying herself. “Come on, Kacchan, you’re dating the guy you used to call ‘Deku’ like it was an insult. You’re practically a different person.”
“Shut up,” Bakugo grumbled, though there was a slight flush on his face as he glanced toward Izuku, who was doing his best to stay out of the line of fire.
Toga grinned at Ochako. “I’d say they’ve changed more than us, don’t you think?”
Ochako smiled, leaning back into her seat. “Maybe. But it’s nice, isn’t it? Things are… better now.”
Izuku nodded, his voice soft but certain. “Yeah. They really are.”
Bakugo didn’t say anything, but there was a brief flicker in his expression—something softer, something unspoken that only Izuku seemed to notice.
The night went on, the conversation shifting between old memories, the challenges of being new pro heroes, and the casual teasing that always seemed to surface when they were together. By the end, it was clear that despite everything—the battles, the rivalry, and the twisted paths that brought them here—they had found their own rhythm.
Toga stood up, stretching her arms over her head. “Well, this was fun. But next time, let’s do something more exciting.”
Ochako laughed, standing beside her. “Like what? You gonna take us on a villain chase?”
Toga winked. “I’m full of surprises.”
Bakugo grunted, pushing his chair back. “As long as it doesn’t involve Deku running into another damn disaster, I’m in.”
Izuku scratched the back of his head, sheepishly smiling. “I’ll try to avoid those, Kacchan.”
Ochako and Toga shared one last glance before following the boys out. The night had been quiet, but the connections between them were undeniable—stronger, deeper, and forged by everything they’d been through.
As they stepped out into the cool night air, Ochako slid her hand into Toga’s, squeezing it gently. “Next time, maybe you can surprise me, too.”
Toga’s smile softened, just a bit. “I think I already have.”

You know what makes me so curious about your remnant timeline ending:
How will history remember team RWBY?
When scholars get all the information (especially the problems Yang and Blake did in atlas’s )
I have a feeling history will look down on them.
Funny you ask that, as there was originally a bit at the Remnant timeline last part's ending that would've briefly touched on that.
Off the top of my head, I think Team RWBY will go in the "divisive" category of historical figures. Some will still see them as heroes of the war against Salem whom saved thousands and played an indirect but crucial role in Salem's final defeat. Others will see them as, well... the incompetent fuckwits that they were, condemning them for their parts in Ironwood's insanity, for destroying Atlas-Mantle and causing the Vacuo refugee crisis.
The latter viewpoint is probably a lot more widespread among the refugees in Vacuo and their Vacuo-born descendants than it is in Mistral or especially in expanded post-war Menagerie, although there are probably some in Vacuo - particularly those with "Vacuo for the Vacuans" type views and anti-Atlas sentiments - whom hold to the pro-Team RWBY view. Personally, I 100% like to think that this picture by @blueskyportrait is something that happens in the Remnant timeline before Salem is defeated:
Bearing in mind, whilst scholars might get some of the important details like you said about Team RWBY's questionable actions, the average public knowledge of history does tend to be a summarised and generalised version without much focus on the finer details and littler-known actions.
Additionally, there were probably long-term consequences of RWBY/JNR/Q and co. destroying Argus' mecha anti-Grimm defence if it wasn't able to be fully repaired, especially after Atlas-Mantle was destroyed and worldwide negativity spiked, which probably soured the Argus locals' view of them in the long-term too if Argus survived past the end of the war.

AU RULES/LORE
[AskBox is Open]
-ILL ADD TO THIS AS I THINK HAHA-
25%: Only 25% of people on the planet have quirks and they mostly are in the same areas due to social standards and the fact it’s spread through bodily fluids. If a quirk user sleeps with someone who is quirkless, their child will have a quirk and there’s a 50/50 chance the quirkless person will become sick or just grow nasty horn spots…or maybe they’re just immune? Rarely happens.
THE LIST: A public list naming all names and details about dangerous quirk users.
Quirk.com: A public website to view anyone who has a quirk or who has been in physical contact with someone who has one. Names quirk/name/Crimes/etc.
The Separation: When quirkless people started treating quirk havers like animals there was a separation between the two groups. There’s often “quirk free areas” to ensure safety and hopefully stop the spread of the disease causing quirks in the first place. It’s controversial to speak on.
Quirk Doctors: Basically anyone who works with quirk users, Doctors/Therapist/Etc. A lot of bad eggs on the quirkless side will try and get into this position to pass unfair laws for quirk users.
Bone Structure: You can tell if a baby will have a quirk because they have a different bone structure and 99% of the time they will have Fangs when born…not 100% of the time though!
STRIKES: Quirk havers are allowed three strikes of committing crimes before harsh punishment. Quirk related crimes spike it up to two points and anything under that is only one point. Anyone on The List will be sent to Tartarus (Bakugo/Mic/All Might/Etc.) and less dangerous quirk havers will be serving normal jail time (Nighteye/Aizawa/etc.)
Quirk Registration: If you have been infected by the Disease or have any quirk whatsoever you have to register so your name can be publically accessible. If you don’t it’s a 2 striker and you’ll get in deep trouble, especially if you’re eligible for The List.
Show Ponies: A degrading term used for Pro Heroes. They are seen as flashy and sell a lot of merchandise/used for pushing beliefs in a fun and goofy way. A lot of pros don’t even do hero work and it’s like The Boys where Homelander takes credit for fake scenarios.
Quirk Items: Items quickly designed for quirk havers to stay safe. Quirk beds/Gloves/Muzzles! They have em all. Hopefully the people designing these things are taking peoples feelings into consideration.
Quirk Enhancement Drugs: Causes a boost in quirk capability, but is extremely dangerous! Causes violence/Irritation/overactive quirk use/etc. and is only sold underground. Sometimes sparks quirks in non-quirk havers…but most of the time they aren’t given quirk factors and will burn to death or something. Not recommended.
John Doe: There was numerous “accidents” caused by quirk users throughout history, but you can’t blame anyone under 18 for not controlling themself properly and instead of publicly naming them for a crime, they put them under a John/Jane Doe alias to make people aware of the crime but not who did it.
AFO: The first quirk haver and notoriously hidden by media. He has ran through hundreds of cities and murdered thousands with his stockpiling quirk. He is someone to avoid…
Vasectomies: For a four year period of the American president at the time, they passed a universal law that every quirk child would be getting a vasectomy to prevent quirk birth. The law was reformed when they realized how unfair this was. Positive/Useful quirks such as Aizawa’s were excused, but anyone else who developed a quirk during these four years was denied access to having children.

The Georgian Orthodox Church has called for changes to an icon depicting Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin hung in a cathedral in the capital, Tbilisi.
The icon depicts scenes from the life of St Matrona of Moscow, a 20th Century Russian visionary and healer.
In one, the Russian Orthodox saint can be seen blessing Stalin.
The Patriarchate of Georgia said there was "insufficient evidence" the saint and Stalin ever met and that changes therefore needed to be made.
"The donors of the icon are called upon to make the appropriate changes to the image themselves - or we can do it ourselves," the statement said.
The Alliance of Patriots, a pro-Russian political party, said it gifted the icon to the cathedral several months ago.
But it only came to prominence this year, after an opposition former politician Giorgi Kandelaki highlighted its presence in protest at what he said was an attempt to present "one of the biggest mass murderers in history" in a "positive light".
The icon has been courting controversy since Mr Kandelaki drew attention to it. Earlier this week, an activist sprayed it with paint in protest.
Nata Peradze published a video of her throwing paint on the icon and said she was protesting against what she saw as the glorification of a tyrant.
"Stalin killed my whole family, he instilled terror and fear, he was not a hero," she told Politico, adding that she has been receiving death threats since posting the video on Facebook.
She also said her house has been targeted by mobs since the incident.
In its statement, the Patriarchate of Georgia said that an icon could depict "real stories related to the life of the saint, including rulers and ordinary people, heretics and persecutors of the Christian faith".
"However," it added, "this does not mean at all that the image glorifies these figures or attributes any dignity to them."
Stalin has a complex legacy in Georgia.
He was born Iosif Dzhugashvili in the town of Gori, in the east of the country, in 1878. A key figure in the Russian revolution which brought the Bolsheviks to power, he ruled the USSR from 1924 until his death in 1953.
Millions died as Stalin imposed iron discipline and state terror to root out "enemies of the people" and build a communist state.
Many people in the small South Caucasian country reject the legacy of the Soviet Union.
But some still view Stalin with some pride because he emerged from a humble background in Georgia to rule a superpower and defeat Nazi Germany.

As someone who got slightly noticed by the Zelda community for drawing Zelda x Ghibli fanart I have to say I don't think Zelda would fit Ghibli's standards.
I love tloz and I love ghibli movies probably with the same intensity and because of that I keep thinking that Ghibli is too serious and arsty for Zelda lol like, besides the aesthetics, there's nothing in tloz franchise that resemblance a Ghibli movie, Miyazaki and Takahata (may rest in peace) are well known for portray their views in politics and society through their films, Miyazaki loves to talk about anti capitalistic, anti war and pro environmental consciousness topics in his stories, while Takahata liked to explore the every day life of common people, the humanity in his characters and usually portrays deep, strong female characters going through a coming of age/growth journey (also had anti war messages with Grave of the Fireflies and fictional stories with The tale of princess Kaguya, both with a strong focusing in their main characters and their personal journey, with a very sad ending I must say)
On the other hand, despite Zelda's lore being a little confusing lol I like the overall construction of its universe but at the end the overall lesson of its stories is kinda bland, there's nothing wrong with a good old fashioned tale about the chosen one, good vs evil and the brave knight saving the princess, but it's like… pretty much all? I don't think Zelda's development team ever wanted to focus in go deeper than that, like questioning the role in the monarchy like with the clan Yiga there were just a bunch of losers being annoying in your traveling, they told you they rebelled against the Sheikahs and the royal family but why? Did they have a valid motive? There was nuance there that made you think "well… I get their point, I don't think their actions have justification but I understand where they come from"? Idk give me complexity!!! I want to reflex, I want to see not only a villain and a hero but complex people that make choices and make mistakes and you see the complexity of their decisions. The only moment similar to that in the history of Zelda that I can think of is in Wind Waker where Ganondorf told us why he want Hyrule, it was for his people, it was the wind that he coveted, THAT WAS DEPTH, THAT WAS AN ACTUAL CHARACTER WITH ACTUAL MOTIVATIONS, what he did was wrong, but you get to actually empathize with his feelings of just wanting a dignified life for his people, I can't think of any other moment like that in Zelda…
Sadly, I see how Nintendo is really focused on get the money (that's why they carefully chose to make a live action instead of an animated movie) so even if there was a slightly interest in Ghibli to make a Zelda movie Nintendo would have to let the creative direction entirely to Ghibli so Miyazaki would do the thing he knows how to do which is got slightly inspired by a story of other author and then just do whatever he wants with that, and of course Nintendo would never agree to do that.
Basically what I am trying to say is that a Ghibli x Zelda movie was a dream that it born dead

Any fics that involve H paying back a debt to D? Can be non/dubcon, maybe something similar to a one shot called Debts (believe it’s on ao3)?
A Muggle-born Magic by Musyc - M, one-shot - Regency-era AU. Physician’s daughter Hermione Granger finds herself in need of a way to pay off her father’s debts after his death. Draco Malfoy, retired from the politics of the Isolationists, a group of pure-bloods bent on separating ‘true’ magic from lesser folk, finds himself in need of a tutor for his son, Scorpius, who appears to be incapable of magic and must learn to survive in a world without it. Draco also needs a wife and mother for Scorpius, to satisfy a promise to his unwell father. After she saves his son from an attack by Isolationists, Draco hires the Muggle-born Miss Granger for the former, and after a riot in Vauxhall Gardens and a scandalous discovery made by his mother, weds that selfsame Muggle-born for the latter. While making the best of her marriage of (in)convenience, Hermione discovers that Scorpius’ history of wild imaginings and dreams is more than just imagination. As she attempts to teach him about magical abilities no one expected he would ever have, she and Draco work together to raise Scorpius and learn to trust each other.
Life Debt - Trinkisme - M, 6 chapters - An act of heroism. A moment of insanity. A life of indebtedness. A short story dealing with disability and hurt. And hope. And love. Dramione.
A Year and A Day By: Mistrus - T, 53 chapters - It’s one thing to marry your enemy but it is completely idiotic to actually fall in love with him. Could it be Stockholm Syndrome? I doubt it. It could have been necessity, I mean I was abandoned by Harry and I felt alone. That must be it. DM/HG
Fourteen Thousand Galleons by Frumpologist - M, 28 chapters, Words: 110,611 - After the War, there is a boom of marriage and divorce. Hermione finds herself among the statistics of war heroes who couldn’t save their marriages. When she receives the invoice from her solicitor, she has no choice but to answer an ad in The Daily Prophet: Malfoy Heir Seeking Nanny. But, everything is not quite what it seems as Hermione navigates the waters of post-divorce life.
Quid Pro Quo by ningloreth - E, one-shot - Someone loses much more than his shirt at Draco’s gaming tables.
Aphrodisiac by CourtingInsanity - E, one-shot - After Draco saves Hermione from danger, she finds herself in his debt. His request? That she pretends to date him to repay the favour. For their first date, he takes her to the Manor to meet his mother, but Narcissa Malfoy wasn’t born yesterday. She knows that the relationship between the pair is fake, but she’s also aware that the unresolved sexual tension is almost palpable. Lacing their tea with a potion that will either make them incredibly *attracted* to each other if they are compatible, or kill them instantly if not, seems like an insane risk to take, but the Malfoy matriarch is sure it will pay off; grandchildren don’t grow on trees, you know. Written for Round 10 Dramione Duets, for the wonderful and amazing RZZMG (honestly, I died when I found out she was my partner!) <3

Legion of Super-Heroes #4 (Bendis)
Warning, Spoilers Ahead…
We open with Triplicate Girl and surprise, surprise, she’s gushing over Superboy. Might as well change the name of the team to “the Legion of Jon’s Cheerleaders” at this point.
Luornu recaps her origin:
“We are Luornu Durgo! Legion code name: Triplicate Girl! Originally from the great planet Cargg. For those of you who do not know, I/we are split but merge into one body. I/we then gain the accumulated memories and knowledge and experiences! It’s a full life. So when you refer to ‘us’ as different people it’s a little insulting. I/we are the same people.”
The specifics of Luornu and Cargg change with each reboot. The “accumulated memories and knowledge and experiences” sounds like Bendis is taking a Madrox-style approach to Luornu.
Jon is doing his best to memorize the Legionnaires code names, real names, and planets of origins. Jon states “My day would make it a point to know everyone’s name by dinner.”
In fairness to Jon, the Legion was much smaller when Clark was introduced to the team.
Lightning Lad makes a reference to his “mothers” so I’m guessing the twins are now the children of a lesbian couple. Is this another diversity “paint job” by Bendis? Instead of going for cheap brownie points of lesbian parents why doesn’t Bendis bring Ayla and Vi back as a couple? Or pair the long-speculated to be a couple Invisible Kid and Chemical King? Or return Power Boy and his partner to the team? Or reunite Element Lad and Shavaughn/Shaun Erin?
The Legion is one team that has a long of history of confirmed LGBTQ couples. Why is Bendis making insignificant minor characters his LGBTQ special when he could instead focus on one of the numerous couples that could impact the story?
Garth and Rokk take Jon to Computo who will give him the Legion orientation presentation.
Computo is now a “mixture of technology and category nine humanoid biology”.
We get glimpses of the founder’s past.
Titan is now a “mind collective” that Imra leaves when she receives an offer from the United Planets.
We switch to Winath where the twins are defending a group of people from the Science Police. Ayla is clearly the more brazen of the twins which is a switch from the reboot where Garth was the hothead.
The twin’s mothers are not happy about their actions. One mother seems to be made of energy. Is this how the twins received their powers? The twins seem to have four younger siblings. No sign of Mekt, their older brother known as Lightning Lord.
Ayla mentions they were born with their powers. Do all the children have lightning powers? She also mentions the mothers have six other children to worry about. Neither are pictured in the scene. One could be Mekt.
The President of the United Planets invites the twins to join the UP Youth Delegation. Garth joins. Ayla does not.
We turn to Braal, home planet of Rokk, where “one percent of the planet’s population has control over magnetic fields”. In all other versions, every native of Braal has magnetic powers.
Rokk is fighting the metal creatures native to Braal in an arena. In previous versions, Rokk was a magno-ball champion, now he battles creatures in an arena.
Rokk refers to his dad as “Prime Father. Rokk was aiming for the Inter-Galactic Olympics but Prime Father convinces him to join the UP Youth Delegation.
The founding trio meet on a space shuttle.
Imra is different from her fellow Titans as most don’t leave the planet but she couldn’t wait to get out of there.
The trio meet with the President of the United Planets and save her from an attack by the Horraz.
Jon is pulled out of the orientation due to “Justice League-level emergency”. The Trident has been stolen and the Science Police has arrived at the Legion HQ: “By order of Madamhonor President, the Legion of Super-Heroes is locked until further notice.”
Pros:
Cosmic Boy received some spotlight.
Cons:
I believe in diversity and representation, but I don’t like cheap “paint jobs” that will be undone in the next reboot. Garth receives the focus of this as he is now of color and has lesbian parents, but I guarantee in the next reboot Garth will be white and no longer have lesbian parents. In the long run, these changes are nothing but “cheap points”. I mentioned the Legion’s LGBTQ couples above and for characters of color: XS, Kid Quantum I. Kid Quantum II, and Tyroc are in limbo waiting to make a comeback.
The pace is glacial. We are four issues in and the story we’ve seen so far would have taken less than one issue in the 1980s.

The Hounds of Fate - Ch: 2
Read on Ao3: Here
Time crawls on like a fever dream.
Each waking and sleeping moment is haunted by that girl. He traces his fingers across the yellowed, peeling wallpaper of the convenient store’s office he fleetingly calls ‘home’ to distract himself from the memory of her terrified cries. An infinity pattern takes shape as he rakes his nails in a smooth swooping manner over and over until his nails are worn to nearly nothing and a groove is left in his wake.
It doesn’t help.
All he can think of is her face as she tried to cling to him. She was scared, so goddamn scared, to leave the safety of his arms. Scared of those vermin who attacked her. Scared to be left alone. Scared of Eraserhead. And yet, despite her fear, she tried to save him. It’s a thing of devastating wonder to witness the heart of hero take root in a child so young.
She hit a pro to help him, and he handed her right over to that very hero.
It feels like such a fundamental betrayal that it makes him nauseous. He feels like a monster.
His makeshift cot creaks like it’s on its deathbed as he turns on his side and drapes an arm across his face.
He sees her behind his eyelids, yelling and swinging.
When he presses his arm against his eyes until spots dance across the darkness, he sees himself, small and helpless, screaming as he stands between Endeavor and his mother. No one had been there to save them from that hero’s hands.
He’d been there for her, and he failed. Young him would be so disappointed.
He clenches his fists until his arms tremble. It’s nearly a surprise his teeth don’t shatter from the force of his grinding jaw.
Despair has tilled his mind and left behind acres of slow budding anger.
That’s what it always comes back to.
Because anger is what he knows, what he’s comfortable with. Anger is safety, and oh, does he hate that he equates those two things. History has taught him little else. Those that are larger, stronger, full of rage and on the offense, don’t have to fear. They are what should be feared and that spells safety. He hadn’t been strong enough. Fast enough. Enough enough.
It girdles the cold stalks of misery and seeps into his core like poison. He feels it start in his chest and spread out like a swarm of locusts. It rages with a heat that could shame Prominence Burn.
Aggravation strums his nerves.
I should have tried harder.
How could he allow such failure when he was trained to be better? Created to be better? What’s the point of his existence if he can’t even protect a child?
The guilt and rage make him restless. He wants to get up and go. Find some trouble on his own and make himself useful for once in his fucking life.
But he can’t.
He’s stuck in self-inflicted isolation.
Eraserhead’s warning plays like a backing track to his thoughts. He’s not so far gone in his rancid emotions to forget his situation and he certainly doesn’t want to test his abysmally bad luck. So, he just lays on his makeshift cot, staring at the peeling wall and flexing his battered, aching hands.
Useless, useless, useless.
His fists tighten again. Skin stretches thin over popping knuckles, the only sound that breaks the quiet. He prays to gods he isn’t sure he believes in that he made the right choice trusting that pro. If he didn’t… If he finds out Eraserhead lied like so many heroes do and that girl is hurting, he’ll—
He’ll what? Hunt down Eraserhead?
Shota Aizawa, he recalls from the man’s license, graduated from UA. Born in Tokyo. Resident of Shinjuku. Underground. Independent of an agency. Thirty years old.
Cycling through the information like he’s filing a report is pointless. Even if he wanted to entertain the extremely laughable idea of fighting Eraserhead, he already knows where he stands in that outcome. (He’s too stubborn to admit that his pride and anger might still drive him to violence. It makes him sound too familiar, too much like the monster under his bed. He swears he smells smoke as he pushes that thought away.)
The best he can do is wait and hope – two things he’s not exactly well-practiced at.
He’ll go back to the spot and see if it’s an ambush. If luck is on his side, he’ll have a civil conversation with a surprisingly agreeable hero and be on his way, blessedly free of confrontation. If not, then he’ll deserve whatever happens, but he’ll make damned sure to give them hell first.
In order for any of that to have a chance of happening, however, he knows he has to keep his head low for a few days.
That shouldn’t be too hard. If that isn’t incentive enough to hide away for a few days, then the backlash of his little quirk stunt should be. That ice wall hadn’t been subtle in the slightest. If Endeavor isn’t skulking around this ward right now, Shoto would be genuinely shocked.
He turns back over and starts tracing the wall.
Infinity edges on and on and on.
---
Three Days Later:
If Shoto weren’t brimming with so much anxious energy, he might entertain the idea of splurging on a calendar to mark this occasion. He’s done it. He’s made it a whole seventy-two hours without any major incidents. There had been an encounter with a purse snatcher nearing the twenty-eight-hour mark when he finally ripped himself out of his hovel to get some food. (He never did get his groceries back, something that only served to egg on his horrid mood.)
Shoto tripped the frantic thief as he ran by and handed the purse back to its owner. A solid thirty-seconds of work. A light breeze or misplaced twig could have done it. He’s almost certain Eraserhead wouldn’t fault him for it. The woman had been utterly starry-eyed when he gave her bag back, as if there was something miraculous about him and what he'd done. If that impressed her, he worries for her health if she ever witnessed All Might in person. She'd likely suffer from cardiac arrest.
He can look the hero in the eye – goggle? – and honestly say he hasn’t done a single vigilante-adjacent thing (purse snatcher notwithstanding). The hero had better be impressed. If he gets to the meeting spot and finds himself arrested, he’s going to be sorely upset. The thought of this being a ruse ticks his short fuse just a little bit shorter.
If this turns out to be a trap, he’ll be arrested for something worse than vigilantism, that’s for certain. Treachery will be repaid fiercely.
Shoto pauses on the edge of a roof, just a few buildings shy of that fateful alley, and takes a deep breath. It condenses against his mask on the exhale, making him grimace. He wants to calm his jagged nerves. He’s anxious and that translates poorly for him.
So far, he sees neither hide nor hair of hidden pros or skulking cops.
Wouldn’t be a good ambush if I could see them, he concedes.
What he does spy, however, is a hunched figure looking more like an out-of-place gargoyle than a professional hero. It’d be amusing if Shoto didn’t feel like chewing his own tongue off just a little.
Shoto pauses for a moment to observe him carefully. The hero is propped on the lip of the building Shoto had originally used as an escape. His goggles are in place but he doesn't appear overly tense. It looks as if he might be watching for Shoto's arrival. It makes him uneasy. There is a small consolation in the hero being so blantantly out in the open. If Eraserhead wanted to jump him, he’d hardly station himself in such an obvious spot. That’s not his style.
Then again, Shoto muses grimly, Eraserhead doesn’t really need the advantage against me.
Still, it’s a bit of a promising sign. He tries not to let that hope bud any further than it already has. That anxiety thrumming in his veins slows a hair.
By the time Shoto reaches the edge of the neighboring building, the hero notices his presence. He idly wonders if Eraserhead has any tech to help him monitor his surroundings because he doesn’t think he was being that loud.
Instead of waiting, the hero swings himself over to the roof Shoto is on.
“Staying out of trouble, I take it,” Eraserhead says like it’s a greeting.
“More or less,” he says, voice pointedly blank as he tries to subtly observe his surroundings. Nothing is out of the ordinary so far, and he’s starting to think the inconceivable has happened. A pro may have truly kept their word. His trust might not have been misplaced. Something knocks in his chest that he ignores. He can examine it later, when he’s well and truly sure about Eraserhead.
The hero sighs heavily.
“Not as reassuring as I would have liked to hear.” He sounds exasperated. Tired.
Makes two of us.
“I don’t like lying,” he says bluntly in lieu of an apology. Shoto can’t find it in himself to feel sorry. His sour thoughts do little for his disposition.
Eraserhead notices.
He gets a noncommittal hum from the older man. There’s a slight tension in the hero’s posture now, not threatening but observing. Shoto's frown is hidden under his mask.
“I haven’t gotten into any fights or used my quirk, if that makes you feel better,” he says to ease Eraserhead’s mind. He’d made good on his word even when it felt like glass was under his skin and frenetic energy had him literally clawing at the walls for release. He’d better appreciate that.
It’s quiet for a moment. Then, when Eraserhead seems to find what he’s looking for, his posture loosens a fraction. He slouches, undignified and just this side of exhausted. Shoto wonders if this is his version of ‘at ease’. If so, he almost pities the man.
“As promised, I have an update for you,” Eraserhead says and reaches into one of his zipped pockets.
Any straying attention is dragged back front and center. His body doesn’t betray his sudden burst of nerves, but his heart picks up double time.
“Her name is Kazue Ishikawa,” Eraserhead starts as he passes over a picture to Shoto. “Aside from some minor scratches on her right arm and her distress, she was fine. She’s been safely returned to her family.”
It’s nothing short of a miracle that his hands don’t tremble as he grabs the offered photo. He lets out a shaky breath as he looks at it. That girl – Kazue Ishikawa – stares back at him. True to Eraserhead’s word, she looks much better. Her smile is wide as she holds on to a woman with the same lilac eyes. Mother? Sister? Whoever it is, there’s tangible relief on her bright features as she clings to the child. A bandage around the Kazue's arm is the only clue she'd even been in such a situation.
Perhaps most surprising of all is Eraserhead. He stands just behind and off to the left of the duo. He’s got the same blank, dead-eyed look on in the picture as he does in real life, with a hint more of annoyance. He looks like he’d rather be anywhere else than taking a photo. Did he stand there so I’d know it’s real? Shoto appreciates the sentiment more than he'd care to admit.
A heavy knot untangles in his gut. Those acres and acres of wrath and guilt begin to wither, row by row. They’re not all gone. It’s doubtful he’ll ever be rid of them all, invasive as they are, but it’s a start.
For the first time in days, he feels like he can properly breathe. This promise held true and faith nurtured feels monumental, larger than just a girl in a picture. It’s slow-moving, like tectonic plates scraping against each other, sending vibrations through his whole being until his very soul starts to quake.
Somewhere, hidden deep in the furthest reaches of his heart, his inner child feels a little less broken.
Shoto doubts Eraserhead has the slightest clue as to what this has done for him or the paradigm shift it set into motion. He doesn’t even know how grand it is himself. All he understands is that it feels like he’s standing at the edge of something great and terrifying.
His eyes flick from the girl back to the hero in the picture; the one who didn’t need to be there but chose to for a vigilante he just met.
Or perhaps he does know.
The start of smile twitches at the corner of his lips. It shocks him to notice it. Before he can fall further into cross-examining these burgeoning feelings, he tightly packs them away and sets them to the side. Those can be dealt with later when he’s safely alone and can process what’s happened.
He feels a tad bit the fool for his earlier melancholia now that he’s here. Though, he wasn’t exactly raised with emotional competency and control as pillars of his youth.
“How’d she end up here anyhow?” he finally asks after staring at the photo for a potentially embarrassing length of time. His voice is softer this time. Content. It put his mind and heart at ease to see her unharmed and happy.
When he looks up, he notices Eraserhead facing his direction, though it’s impossible to tell exactly where he’s looking. It doesn’t stop Shoto from feeling like he’s being examined under a microscope. When he offers back the picture, the hero just holds up his hand. Another silent olive branch. Shoto doesn’t know how to handle this.
He tucks the picture safely into his pocket and lets himself unwind a little more. Being near this hero is dangerous. Shoto can see himself becoming complacent someday. Trusting. It’s almost enough to wind him up again.
“Her quirk,” Eraserhead starts, almost startling Shoto from his thoughts. “It allows her to unlock something she touches. She got out of her house and wanted to ‘pet the kitty’ she’d seen on the way home from school. Likely got turned around and lost.”
“An understandable motive,” he says earnestly.
Shoto can very well see himself having done the same thing at her age. Honestly, he can envision himself doing that today. Shoto never was allowed a pet, but cats always intrigued him. In his months on the streets, he’s taken to caring for as many as he can. It was an absolute thrill when he realized they enjoyed cuddling up to his left side. Every now and again a few cats appear at that shitty convenient store looking for food and affection. Those are the best days.
He’s so busy thinking of the calico cat that looks a bit like himself – he named her Shoto II – that he almost misses the way Eraserhead nods in agreement. A fellow cat lover? Perhaps he isn’t so bad.
It seems the hero got lost in his own musings as he stands there silently, staring at nothing in particular. Maybe he fell asleep standing. As if he heard Shoto’s thoughts, Eraserhead shifts and grunts, like he can pretend he wasn’t off in thought around a veritable stranger on a dirty rooftop.
“Her family asked me to pass along their thanks. And there’s this,” he says, voice gruff but friendly – or, as friendly as Eraserhead gets. He hands over a piece of carefully folded paper.
“Oh,” Shoto says as he takes the paper, curiosity taking over. “Thank you.”
He unfolds the paper carefully and is greeted with a letter written in a child’s messy hand. It’s done in pencil, and he can see where several words were erased and rewritten correctly. The letters are large, a little lopsided, and squished in some areas, but it’s legible.
Dear Mr. Hero
Thank you for saving me. All Might was my hero. Now you are my hero. I like cats and I like you. Here’s a cat.
Love Kazue Ishikawa
When he turns over the letter, he can see a very interesting rendition of a black cat with bulbous yellow eyes. He turns the letter back over and reads it again. That great and terrifying feeling returns. A wellspring ruptures in his heart and he’s momentarily overwhelmed.
He didn’t fail. He saved her. He’s her hero.
For the first time in a decade, that title doesn’t feel like an insult or a badge of shame. It feels weighty.
Right.
He doesn’t know what to do with that.
You still want to be a hero, don’t you?
Shoto has to crouch for a moment, head tucked between his arms as he breathes deeply. He wants to cry. Another fracture in his inner child starts to mend.
Even under the weight of this profound feeling, he still takes special care not to crumble the note.
A cool breeze rolls across the rooftop and in the distance there’s the wail of a siren, but between the two is nothing but easy silence.
After Shoto feels like his feet are back on the ground and he isn’t about to tumble into some life-altering chasm, he stands back up. Eraserhead, who’d been politely staring off into the distance looks back at him. Neither acknowledge what just occurred.
“I have a patrol to return to,” Eraserhead says, attention drifting back to that distant siren.
“Right,” Shoto says, head still a little scrambled. He’s on the clock. I’m wasting his time. “Stay safe.”
He finds he actually means it when he says that.
Eraserhead just huffs.
“I should be saying that to you,” he says with no real heat. Was that a...joke? I’m not good enough at these things to tell.
Shoto turns to leave as Eraserhead walks toward the edge, readying his scarf. The hero pauses for a moment and looks back.
“Before I go, what’s your name?”
Of all times… Shoto just tips his head back and sighs in aggravation, ready to tell the hero he’s not giving up his identity that easily. One kind act isn’t enough. It sounds odd reverberating off the plastic mask.
As if he can sense what’s coming, Eraserhead continues on. If Shoto didn’t know any better, he’d say it felt distinctly like Eraserhead rolled his eyes. How he felt it, he doesn’t know but he’s sure it happened.
“Your codename,” Eraserhead clarifies.
Oh. Well, that’d make sense.
“I don’t have one.”
Another huff. Shoto isn’t sure if that was supposed to be a laugh or a scoff. Eraserhead makes a lot of similar noises for a lot of different things. It’s confusing, to put it mildly. Perhaps this is a sort of cosmic karma for all the trouble Fuyumi had trying to decipher Shoto’s expressions and moods.
“You might want to come up with one before it gets picked for you,” the hero warns.
This time it’s Shoto’s turn to huff a scoff-laugh.
“Sage advice, Eraserhead.”
The way Eraserhead folds his arms and tilts his head lets him know how little that’s appreciated.
“Don’t get me started,” he says like it’s a worn-out topic. Fair.
Shoto lets his rather questionable name drop. It’s not as if he has a leg to stand on when it comes to naming things. He has the creative instinct of a particularly blunt rock. And it is solid advice. If any paper picks up his story, he’ll be given a name by whichever desk jockey gets their take published first. He can’t imagine what some might pick for him. Icicle, Snowcone, Frosty. He’d rather go back home, thank you.
“That sounds like you’re encouraging me,” he says instead. It comes out flat, but Shoto had meant it in jest. He’ll get there one day, he vows.
Eraserhead grunts. Shoto isn’t sure if he picked up that it was a joke and it was just that unfunny or if the pro took him seriously.
“Not a chance.”
With that, the erasure hero snags his scarf onto a nearby light post.
“Stay clear of crime,” he says, both as a goodbye and as a final warning. Then, he’s off into the night.
Shoto watches him go, still a little awed by his skill.
“I’m trying, believe me,” he mutters before he turns and leaves. The letter in his pocket feels a lot like he’s carrying a piece of the sun with him; like a long winter is finally coming to an end.
---
That is not the last time they meet, because of course it’s not. Fate has seen fit to tangle their paths together like a ball of yarn.
It’s not his fault. This is a statement of fact. Just like last time, he’s in the right place at the right time. (Or perhaps the wrong place at the wrong time?)
He’d been trying to keep his head low. Extra low, in fact. As soon as word spread of that incident in the alley, he was right in assuming Endeavor would show.
Things had been going so well since that second meeting. He’d been feeling lighter, happier. Hell, happier than he had in honest years. A plan had begun to form in his head, like a thicket of brush clearing away to show the path ahead, he felt like he was starting to finally see where he was meant to go.
And then he’d heard people talking about Endeavor and it was like a hurricane opened up over his sunny path.
It’s ridiculous, he knows, melodramatic, and so many other synonyms, but even the hint of a fiery shape so far in the distance it could be a star instead of a man was enough to drive fear into his lungs.
Endeavor came from Musutafu for reasons no one but Shoto knows. He investigated an open-and-shut crime scene, interviewed some underground hero who’d been present, and was left wanting. Even when his mountainous shadow no longer eclipsed the district, Shoto still felt afraid to move. Afraid to leave, even for sustenance. It took him turning that fear to anger once more for him to take action.
One defiant trip proved safe, even though he returned feeling like he was going to heave from a mix of emotions. A second trip helped settle his nerves. On his third trip, he figured he’d be productive instead of just prowling around with his hackles raised and jumping at flaming shadows. He took his meager bits of laundry, shoved them in a torn bag, and decided to spare some of his semi-ill-gotten change for the laundromat.
This, of course, is when the criminal element decided it no longer felt like taking a vacation. He appreciated that they at least waited until he was done having several mental breakdowns about his father being in the same city as him. That was kind.
So, he finds himself locked in combat with several unsavory looking people. They aren’t as easy to take down as the other untrained thugs he’s come up against. Either he’s slipping or these people were waiting for him. Either possibility makes him nervous.
He ducks under one person’s swing and feels something akin to static electricity pricking his skin as their hand narrowly glides past him. A grimace pulls at his lips. Getting tased is not on his to-do list today.
While Shoto was busy dodging one, two more move in for the kill. He fears he’s going to have to use his quirk. That leaves a rotten taste in his mouth for several reasons. Not good enough. Not good enough.
The temperature around the criminals drops as he prepares to freeze this stretch of road. Before frost can settle on the asphalt, a black figure flies in from nowhere like a shrike diving to impale its prey.
Eraserhead lands on one of the thugs closing in on Shoto with a sickening crunch, hair floating and scarf already flinging out to catch the second. Impressive, as always.
“What did I say?” Eraserhead bites out, voice layered with aggravation.
It sparks a flame of petulance in Shoto. He huffs in annoyance as he kicks the electrically charged crook in the jaw.
“I just wanted to go to the laundromat,” he retorts. No, he is not pouting. Children pout and he hasn’t been one of those in a long time.
What had once been a bit of a struggle turns into a one-way curb-stomping. Shoto might be inclined to feel a little bad for the criminals sprawled out, groaning in pain even while unconscious, but he isn’t feeling very charitable as he picks his clothes off the ground. After he finishes shoving the last shirt into his utterly shredded bag, he turns to watch the hero.
Eraserhead is quiet, nerve-rackingly so, as he binds them securely. It makes Shoto anxious. Very anxious.
Once the last one is securely zip tied, Eraserhead straightens up and looks in his direction. Shoto feels a lot like an insect pinned for display.
“In my defense, they jumped me,” he states as he holds up his destroyed bag.
Eraserhead is still quiet. Shoto wants to shift awkwardly but he maintains his firm posture. If there’s one decent trait he picked up from that emotionally stunted household, it’s how to feign indifference.
“How,” Eraserhead finally says. It’s a question and a statement, somehow. It reeks of disapproval. Shoto isn’t sure if that makes him upset or angry.
“The one had a quirk—”
“ How can you be this unlucky,” Eraserhead cuts him off with a sigh and lifts his goggles to rub his tired eyes. “I was convinced you actively sought out crime.”
Ah. Okay. Shoto’s stiff spine relaxes just a bit. He’s just amazed by my luck. Understandable.
“I told you I’m not a vigilante,” Shoto says blandly. It’s just a step off of a full blown, I told you so!
Eraserhead looks less than amused. He slowly and pointedly looks from the unconscious thugs Shoto helped subdue back up to Shoto. With how flat his expression is, Shoto’s almost certain he could use it as a level.
“I’m not trying to be a vigilante,” he amends.
The hero just heaves another sigh and pinches the bridge of his nose. Shoto idly wonders if he gets paid commission for helping with these acts.
“I should put a tracker on you. That’s apparently the fastest way to find criminals.”
Just the thought of that finally breaks Shoto’s stoicism. He shifts uneasily. It’s far too easy to picture how fast Endeavor would be at his door if Eraserhead did just that. In fact, he’s almost positive there’d be no door left. It’d be lucky if the building was left.
“I would prefer if you didn’t do that.”
There’s a blatant distance between them now, one that speaks of Shoto’s discomfort. Eraserhead studies him for a moment, brows slightly pinched.
“I was being sarcastic,” he finally says and fixes his goggles back into place.
“Oh,” is all he says. He feels stupid now for having taken Eraserhead so seriously. It’s hard to tell when the hero is joking and when he isn’t. He has a distinct clinical air about him that makes it hard to believe he even can joke. Shoto has a hard time picking up on sarcasm in regular conversation. With Eraserhead, he has a better shot at flipping a coin and choosing his answer based on that.
After an extended awkward silence in which Eraserhead busied himself with calling in the crime, Shoto finally bites the bullet. “Am I in trouble?”
Because he’d made it abundantly clear in their past two meetings that he should avoid conflict or else. He squeezes his clothes to him a little tighter.
“Not this time,” Eraserhead says. There’s a faint edge of frustration coloring his words, almost undetectable but still there. “You acted in self-defense and there’s no sign of quirk usage.”
Shoto nods, feeling too much like he’s disappointed the man somehow.
“Right,” he says, loquacious as ever. It doesn’t feel like there’s anything else to say. So, he just nods again and gestures to the group. “Well, good luck with...this.”
Eraserhead sighs into his scarf, head dropping a little.
“You give me a headache,” he says, and that’s as good as a goodbye he’ll get, he supposes.
Better than cuffs, so I’ll take it.
---
The third time they meet isn’t his fault this time. Not that it was his fault the last two times either, but he wasn’t even the first one on the scene, so Eraserhead can’t pin it on him.
He’s walking back toward his hideout with a cardboard box in his arms. A kitten, maybe two months old, mews sadly from inside. Shoto just wants to get back and hold it until it no longer looks so sad.
When he walks past a warehouse that he’s positive wasn’t a warehouse just a few days ago (no, he will not question it), he hears noises from inside. It’d be smart of him to keep his head down, and this time he actually does because he has a kitten with him and if it got hurt, he might turn the entire area from here to Tokyo into the new East Pole. But he can’t help it. A flash of white catches his peripheral. On instinct he looks up just in time to see Eraserhead spring on an armed opponent and throw them with enough force to send them crashing into a wall like a shock of thunder.
The only hint Shoto gets that Eraserhead is aware of his presence is that he grabs a man with his scarf that had been trying to ready a gun and flings him at Shoto.
“Heads up,” he calls out, like he just served a volleyball and not thrown an entire grown man at Shoto, and launches himself at another target.
Shoto has scarce enough time to turn and nail the flailing man in the back of the head with a sharp roundhouse. The kitten jostles from the motion and cries out, fur puffed up in fear.
“There’s a kitten in here,” he calls back through gritted teeth.
The only response he gets is Eraserhead dragging someone further away from Shoto. He figures that’s some sort of apology. Or Eraserhead just wants the kitten to be okay too. Honestly, Shoto is fine with that.
He hushes the kitten and sets the box down on the outside of the warehouse with a quiet promise to return on his lips. Then, he goes back to help. Not that there’s much to help with. Once the gunmen were down, it was easy pickings. Really, Shoto played the role of a mascot more than anything. The two he knocked out were more like novelty hits as they were already disoriented from getting smacked together like a pair of oversized cymbals by Eraserhead, but he likes feeling useful.
“Not my fault this time,” he says unprompted. He hears a grunt from off to his right and takes that to mean he isn’t in trouble.
Once the group are down and out for the count, Shoto picks the box back up with his right hand and tries to soothe the kitten with his warm left. He almost forgets Eraserhead is there when the pro suddenly speaks up as he’s securing the goons.
“You’re starting to give some cops and heroes a complex,” he says out of nowhere.
Shoto blinks up at him. If he weren’t wearing his mask, he’s sure Eraserhead would see the confusion on his face.
“Have they tried working harder?”
The detached way he says it makes it sound far more insulting than he meant, though he doesn’t regret it. He isn’t even trying to do their job and he's somehow eclipsing them. It can’t be that hard.
His response earns him a rare and coveted hidden laugh. It causes Shoto to blink in genuine surprise. He’s gotten a little used to the odd chuffs and huffs Eraserhead makes but anything actually discernible as a laugh is like a one-in-a-million.
“I’ll pass on your words of wisdom. I’m sure they’ll be appreciated.”
His voice is just as blasé. It brings the ghost of a smile to Shoto's lips. He’s quiet, having nothing to add to the unprompted conversation. So, he strokes the kitten again.
After finishing up with his current task, Eraserhead ambles over, acting as nonchalant as possible while still trying to peek in at the kitten.
“What’s its name?” he asks, just as blatantly interested-not interested.
Shoto pauses as he strokes under the purring kitten’s chin for a moment. He hadn’t thought of a name. Again, they aren’t really his forte. A name? What’s a good name for a good kitten?
“Soba,” he declares after another second of thought. He likes soba and he likes this kitten. It’s a good fit.
Eraserhead hums. It seems he has about the same amount of creativity as Shoto, because he just nods.
Shoto finally relents and tilts the box toward the hero. He spies the way Eraserhead tucks his face further into his scarf before he begins to pet the kitten. It’s quiet, amicable. Probably more so than it should be while they’re standing in a shady warehouse in the slums surrounded by the remnants of a failed arms deal and several groaning, broken men. Ah well, so are their lots in life.
With what seems like a herculean effort on Eraserhead’s part, he pulls back from the kitten. Shoto almost feels tempted to give him the kitten because the dejected slump of his shoulders looks so bizarre. Too bad for Eraserhead, Shoto saw Soba first.
“Just take this,” Eraserhead finally says and hands over something.
Shoto opens his hand and in drops a small device.
“...Thank you?”
He genuinely is thankful even though he doesn't know what he was just given. He’s also confused. It takes a little shifting so he can properly inspect the device while holding the box. Oh, it’s an earpiece. There’s a little more life in his smile now. Unfortunate that Eraserhead can’t see it. It’s almost as rare as one of the hero’s laughs.
“Our routes seem to overlap quite heavily,” Eraserhead explains. “If you see something happening, contact me first. I can be on the scene quickly.”
“Oh,” he says and tucks it safely into his pocket. “Alright.”
“I mean it.” There’s that heavy tone again. That warning. Though, there’s less distrust this time. It feels kinder. “So far, you’ve been lucky enough to toe the line of legality – our first encounter notwithstanding – but that won’t always be the case.”
If Shoto were less of a skeptic, he’d almost think Eraserhead wants to keep him out of jail. The thought drives a nail into that painful section of his mind that labels heroes as licensed villains. Everything he’s done for Shoto has been perplexing, and dare he say, caring, all without any ulterior motives or prompting.
“This doesn’t feel like a proper use of agency funding,” he says in an attempt to joke, though his tone is still lacking.
Shoto could almost swear there was a semi-amused look on the tired man’s face. Perhaps he’s hallucinating.
“Good thing I’m an independent contractor.”
And Shoto knows that. Remembers it from his card. Remembers from how he was not going to fight the hero if he’d lied to him earlier. (Still a dumb idea but one he can’t say he’d never do. He’s a glutton for punishment, apparently.)
Shoto gestures toward the exit and tilts the box toward the hero, one last parting pet. His own olive branch. The hero stays firm for all of one second before he’s stroking the loudly purring kitten.
“You know a decent bit about agency work,” Eraserhead states. It’s a little fishing for information, a little bland observation.
“A bit,” he concedes.
It always catches him off-guard how observant the hero is. It feels like for every sentence Shoto says or action he takes, the hero deciphers something but says almost nothing. It makes him want to put his guard back up. The earpiece in his pocket asks for a little leeway.
He considers the hero for a moment before he leaves, and he can’t help but see those clouds roll away and his path start to shine again.
Maybe, just maybe…
The notion follows him all the way home. As he plays with Soba on his rickety cot, he glances at that drawing from Ishikawa and the picture of her smiling, Eraserhead lingering in the background like a particularly grumpy guardian angel.
“Maybe I can still be a hero. A real one,” he whispers to the kitten. He needs to plan. To find his starting point, and he knows just where that is.
“Let’s hope I don’t regret this,” he says and gives Soba one last playful pat before he picks up his mask and earpiece.

Hello and welcome to Day 16 of "Let's Explore My Plot Bunnies"
Tumblr media
Continuing the Crack/Crossover My Hero Academia plot bunnies that I have, today we are talking about a Shaman King Crossover (-ish?).
Title for the fic: "Spiritual Warfare - Quirk Era Edition"
The story starts with the mess that Asakura Hao's successor to the title of Shaman King makes literally a month into his new position.
Said mess leads to the apparition of super-powered humans into the world. At the beginning, the superpowers (or Quirks as they are later known as) aren't that big of a problem. The real problem starts later down the line when Quirks show signs of becoming too powerful for the body of humans, thus ending up with the humans dying in gruesome ways.
The other Shaman Kings from history decide it is time for them to intervene when the creation of Nomu by the one called All For One starts - after all the souls of the people that were sacrificed in creating that abomination have never been fully able to move onto their next life, which causes a problem for the world at large as well.
The Shaman Kings decide that Hao's soul (including Yoh) should be the one(s) to take care of this problem and reduce the full possibility of a calamity for Earth. (And, no, it's not because the Shaman Kings still dislike Hao and want to put him to work as punishment for the headaches they got while he was Shaman King; they are not that petty ... )
As such, Asakura Hao and Asakura Yoh are reborn in the Quirk Era. Asakura Hao is reborn as Midoriya Izuku and maintains his connection to Spirit of Fire - which is very good considering Spirit of Fire can be explained as the combination of his mother and father's Quirks.
Meanwhile, Asakura Yoh is reborn as Bakugou Katsuki, whose parents just happen to be extremely close to Izuku's parents. Which in turn means they grow up as brothers - even more than when they were brothers before.
Being a baby again sucks, but at least all they have to do in this lifetime is just find this All For One and get rid of him for good. (Easier said that done when you are supposed to be a law-abiding citizen, but oh well)
Since being a Pro-Hero is not only a good career but also could make finding AFO easier, Bakugou decides to go for it. And he drags Izuku with him at the U.A. Entrance Exams because Bakugou wants him there as moral support ("Ha! Now that I think about it, you are now the younger one between us."; "I am gonna kill you, Yoh!")
Izuku planned to just sit there... you know, like a statue and not get himself any villain points so he wouldn't have to deal with this situation at all, but it appears that his younger brother's mentality of "Let's protect humans" has rubbed off on him in the last 500 years. So, when the Zero Pointers appear and some children are stuck in between the debries, Izuku helps them. But it's not a big deal. It's not like he will get point for this, right?
... RIGHT?
Fast forward a few weeks later, both Izuku and Bakugou get their letter of admission for U.A. (Izuku will end Bakugou before this whole spiel is over. That he promises.)
Now, both Izuku and Bakugou have to deal with juggling between school work, attacks from the villains, the ever growing problem that is All For One and his bullshit, the too insistent Mr. Yagi, taking care of their classmates and making sure they don't die that fast (who the hell let kids fight in this world? Izuku just wants to talk, nothing more) and their never-ending but ever growing hatred for Hao's successor. Let's hope they make it, I guess?
Some details I wanna ramble about more:
Hao!Izuku was born in the Midoriya family, which is a very distant line of the Asakura family. So, Izuku is still an Asakura.
The shaman community has been on the down low since a lot of them were killed during the time humanity hated everyone who wasn't "normal" and had those "abnormal powers." Because you know, humanity just loves to start purges every other century or so. This only serves to make Izuku (Hao) more angry at humanity. At least this time, Bakugou (Yoh) is also angry.
In this lifetime, Izuku (Hao) is the one who had an arranged marriage. The arranged marriage is a good thing for both Izuku - who doesn't want to deal with gold diggers - and for the girl, Sayaka - who just wants to be a person in her own right and not just a trophy wife for someone else's family. Bakugou (Yoh) is the happy uncle who fears the gremlins that these two will give birth to.
Izuku (Hao) chooses to have "Hao" as his Pro-Hero name; while Bakugou (Yoh) is still undecided on that.
After they end up in UA, it becomes apparent that they are not the only ones to have been reborn in this world; (me and my friend @yokomisaki brainstormed who would be who in this AU and this is all we have so far) => Eri is Opacho; Todoroko Natsuo is Horohoro; Himiko is Anna (and she is not a villain in this one); Todoroki Touya is Faust (Double Spy ftw?) and Eliza is Hawks; Lyserg is Detective Tsuauchi Naomasa; Tao Ren is Monoma; Manta is Melissa Shield; Ryunosuke is either Snipe or Present Mic (still undecided);
Izuku (Hao) ends up adopting Class 1-A to his own horror and to Bakugou's (Yoh's) amusement.
Izuku (Hao) is also very much done with humanity as a whole. He is losing braincells the more he stays here, he can swear that on his soul.
Bakugo (Yoh) is able to sleep through an explosion created by a villain attack - this was confirmed by Izuku, who did, in fact, witness this happening.
Izuku (Hao) took a look at Endeavor's fire once and proclaimed that a fireplace is more effective than him. Todoroki Shoto may or may not have heard that one.
I can totally see Touya (Faust) flirting with Hawks (Eliza) while other heroes are presents. He does that mostly because he thinks it's fun (Hawks also blushes a lot) and because he likes being a little shit around these "heroes".
And this is about it for this crack fic.
Honestly, while I was talking to Yoko and deciding who is who in this AU, my brain just went over Naomasa as a potential character for Lyserg. But when it hit me, I was like: "Doesn't Lyserg hate lies/liars? Did we just make him a lie detector?" And then we proceeded to laugh over the irony of this.
Either way, I hope you had fun reading my rambling. Have a great day/night, and take care of yourselves!
See you tomorrow,

Goose! Hello lovely :3 Here to pose some As you command questions as you've asked uwu <3 (i have not yet read it, so if these have already been answered, my bad NEFLJDVJFL. also i feel like these questions are extremely typical for a fantasy au bkg??? so like if you wanted smth more spicy or different also sorry LAWL) Does Bakugou actually have dragon blood in his family history? Or has his family always been fully human but have just associated with dragons? Like Dragon whisperers or Dragon riders?
Does he have explodo boi powers in this story? If so, was it gifted to his family from dragons? Or from past pro hero gods? Or can people just be born with powers in your universe? Was Bakugou's family (before he's king) Matriarchal or Patriarchal? [Basically was Mitsuki main ruler or Masaru? lmao] kissin u uwu 💋💋💋
AAAHHH!! Thank you loves!!
So, in my story, the legend goes that the sun god Toshinori gifted Bakugou's ancestors with dragons and gave them the ability to speak with them (known as dragon tongue) as a way to usher in peace during the realm's darkest times! They are technically fully human but they believe their souls are intertwined with the dragons they bond with! Dragons and their riders can communicate telepathically and dragons understand what people are saying around them, but when speaking to their riders, it's not a fluid conversation, more like speaking with someone who doesn't have a full grasp on speaking the language.
He does not have explosion powers actually! However, people can make deals with the gods where they give something of theirs in exchange for a piece of the god's powers. Each god has different things they can give, some gods only support certain families and will gift their children as soon as they are born(like with the Todoroki family), but some gods don't make deals with mortals at all. All this being said, deals with the gods usually come at a steep price so in the Bakugou kingdom, only certain individuals are allowed to make deals and only with certain gods. This is not the case in the Midorya kingdom or Todorki kingdom, as they have different laws and patron gods and such. There are a couple gods where it is banned from making deals with throughout all three kingdoms though, and that's all I will say on that ;)
Bakugou's family was matriarchal! Mitsuki runs the show and Masaru is more than content to just be her husband and advise when needed. Once Bakugou is crowned though, he will be the one in charge, regardless of who he marries, and then after him, his first born whether they're a boy or girl! I definitely wanted it to be a very flexible situation in regards to those kind of traditions.

I am listening. Tell me abt the kiddos
Tumblr media
HELLO! Hi 👉🏿👈🏿 <3 Thank you for asking!!
Tumblr media
the AU entitled 'our hero academia'! it takes place 30 years after the events of MHA, where most of the main cast is in their mid 40s. it'll cover the next generation, including their children and themselves as the world shifts and changes around them. it's admittedly still a little here and there only because i haven't caught up on MHA yet and the series hasn't finished!
our MC, midoriya kimiko, the only daughter of pro heroes thermo + deku (midoriya shoto and izuku respectively). born with a weak quirk, she's primarily grown up in musutafu with her parents. with the media's eyes on her since day one, she's been scrutinized and criticized for her almost lack of quirk.
however she's never alone, with kirishima makoto by her side, who's three days older than she is, the younger sister to the quirkless kirishima takato, and the daughter of dynamight and red riot (kirishima katsuki and eijiro respectively). they're the best of friends since they were babies, and they apply to UA after a disastrous school trip that leads to kimiko manifesting brand new and all powerful parts of her quirk.
the pair make acquaintances with other legacy students, including two parts of the new big three, iida ryosei (with iida tenya and ochako as parents) and ojiro reiko (with ojiro mashirao and toru). class 1-a is made up of tokoyami rin (daughter to tokoyami fumikage and tsuyu), sero haruko (son to ashido mina and sero hanta), tetsutetsu daisuke (son to tetsutetsu tetsutetsu and itsuka), yaoyorozu seiji (son to yaoyorozu momo, jiro kyoka and kaminari denki), shinso yuto (son to shinso hitoshi and neito) and aoyama elle (daughter to aoyama yuga and monica). taught by yamada aiko, the daughter to yamada hizashi and aizawa shota -- the new generation of 1-a is facing everything from exams, new and old relationships, and the consequences of a quirk heavy society all coming down on their young shoulders.
with the clock ticking on an organization determined to make it known just how poorly society treats them, the commission coming down hard on the heroes it claims to help, and villains on the rise, it's a matter of time before we see the next generation rising to the occasion.
the question is, are they ready?
other fun facts!
kimiko and mako's arc concerns kimiko's lack of emotional boundaries with mako, who eventually steamrolls over them as they grow up together. chaos ensues with the development of the embers of OFA.
haruko's arc concerns his disdain for teamwork and how he only ever wants to work by himself because he thinks that's how a hero should be -- only able to rely on themselves.
rin's arc concerns her learning to be more confident in herself as a hero. she's good at many things, but worries about being a good enough heroine to save people
yuto and elle's arc are concerned with the latter discovering herself properly, as she is whether people pay attention to her or not -- while yuto learns its okay to need other people and want to be there for them.
seiji's arc is all about learning how to accept the pitfalls of himself and recognize his own strengths for what they are.
daisuke's arc is all about defining himself, instead of being what people need him to be at any given time.
moriko's arc is currently about learning to atone for past behaviors, regardless of her situation when she was younger (there's a notable line floating around where she says to kimiko, "no, midoriya, maybe the problem was that i wasn't yelled at enough.")
iwao's arc is all about him being less afraid of his quirk. rin and his overlap a little, but he has to learn to not be scared of the possibilities, and embrace them as they come.
aiko's covers her really facing what happened almost twenty years ago (the death of a classmate in her final year at UA, she blames herself) and the ramifications of running away when she was so young and scared.
eri's covers her own history with the shie hassaikai and unravelling her past the best she can. eri is very much a 'im 36 and have been to therapy' sort of character in oha, but it is acknowledged that she still has scars from all those years ago.
for now, chisaki gou (the son of chisaki kai and an unnamed woman) and takami hitomi (the daughter of takami keigo and todoroki touya [though he's gone by a different name since years before she was born]) share an arc as both spiral towards self-destruction. hitomi just wants to do what she can against a corrupt comission and gou knows this is basically his only purpose, as far as he knows.
other characters, such as the other children of 1-a and 1-b are largely unfleshed out for now. iida misato (the daughter of iida tensei and fuyumi) is the current english teacher to the heroics course, kirishima takato is the comic relief most of the time, and three unnamed miritama kids are pretty close to joining the cast.
[also idk if it has to be said because i am adapting this from a pretty old work of mine, i imagine so far into the future everyone has ways of having children biologically. none of the characters in oha are trans, but their kids are theirs and thats all that matters <3. just means i handwaved away some stuff.]

Captain Tom's Story. There is much debate nowadays about how the current generation are a poor shadow of what society used to be. There is probably some truth in it, but there are plenty of examples of kids of today displaying bravery, going above and beyond and being genuinely successful, productive members of society. Just like there were plenty of 'wrong ens' about in days past. I am not going to debate the rights and wrongs of Empire, I am well aware that we did some questionable things around the world. We also did some some wonderful things, and there isn't a country out there that can claim to be free of any sort of wrong doing. However, when you realise that the British Empire was one of histories largest, spreading around the globe, and indeed never having the sun set on it. Then equally realise that we are, when all is said and done, a particularly small country. So whatever your take on the pros and cons of what we achieved, the fact is that our ancestors were a brave band to take on a large part of the world and win. There has been one shining example of what once made Britain Great during the past year, a man showcasing the best of British and Churchill's famous bulldog spirit. A True Icon When the covid tragedy first struck, and we were all locked down. An elderly gentleman, confined to his garden and only able to walk with the aid of a frame, decided that he was going to do something for our long suffering NHS. He started walking lengths of his garden with the aim of raising £1000, by walking 100 lengths before his 100th birthday. In the event he raised £33 MILLION. Just think of that, an elderly gentleman 99 years of age hoping for a grand, raised an unbelievable sum for charity. Our hero Captain Tom, for make no mistake that is what he was by any definition of the word, could also lay prior claim to that title. During World War II, he served with British forces in the hell hole of Burma, Including the Battle of Ramree island, when Japanese forces retreated into a mangrove swamp, only to encounter the local population of crocodiles. Reports claim hundreds of Japanese troops fell prey to the reptiles. “Those who say that we’re in a time when there are no heroes, they just don’t know where to look.”  Racing Days Our intrepid hero, turned his hand to racing motorcycles after the war, riding a 'Flying Squirrel', a bike designed by a Bradford builder, Alfred Angas Scott. Captain Tom, in recognition of his fundraising, was made an honorary Colonel of the Army Foundation College and was then knighted by Her Majesty to become Sir Captain Tom! Sadly as I am writing this, we are all aware that he fell prey to the insidious virus that has claimed so many. All we can say is, Sir, we salute you, and tomorrow will be a good day. Captain Tom Wiki The Final Inspection The soldier stood and faced God,Which must always come to pass.He hoped his shoes were shining,Just as brightly as his brass."Step forward now, you soldier,How shall I deal with you?Have you always turned the other cheek? To my Church have you been true?"The soldier squared his soldiers and said,"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.Because those of us who carry guns,Can't always be a saint.I've had to work most Sundays,And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent,Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny,That wasn't mine to keep...Though I worked a lot of overtime,When the bills just got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help,Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me,I've wept unmanly tears.I know I don't deserve a place,Among the people here. They never wanted me around,Except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord,It needn't be so grand.I never expected or had too much,But if you don't, I'll understand."There was a silence all around the throne,Where the saints had often trod.As the soldier waited quietly,For the judgement of his God."Step forward now, you soldier,You've borne your burdens well.Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,You've done your time in Hell."
