Genuinely, what happened to “feminism is for everyone”?
That’s the feminism I grew up with: encouraging people to recognize that fighting sexism and restrictive gender roles helps folks of every gender. We’d push back on the idea that feminists hate men, pointing to inclusive feminist literature and how many men are feminists.
Now, there are so many people insisting that the solution to patriarchy is to openly hate and ostracize men no matter what. Why? What is the benefit? It’s certainly not effective in fighting oppressive structures to exclude half the population from your cause on the basis of immutable traits. It may feel cathartic to say horrible things about men and try to punish them for your frustrations with patriarchy. But the only actual effect I see is the increasing right-wing radicalization of young men, who are being told that the left hates them for the way they were born and presented with an abundance of proof that it’s true.
Why are we going back to treating men and women as different species? It doesn’t fix things to say “well women are the good gender and men are the bad one” this time. If you sincerely want to dismantle sexism, you’re going to have to unpack and let go of all sex and gender essentialism—even that which considers women inherently pure and men inherently immoral.
#read bell hooks read bell hooks I’ll say it 1000x more please read bell hooks#with the u.s. election I’ve been seeing so much about how young men are becoming more & more radicalized by ‘manosphere’ right-wingers#but people’s response instead of ‘let’s work to deradicalize/reduce radicalization’ has been ?? ‘let’s get more radical too’????#as in to stop talking to/having relationships with men entirely. who does that actually help? what effect are you wanting to see?#others say to let men ‘figure themselves out.’ what???? how do you think radicalization and deradicalization work????#intersectional feminism#sexism#transandrophobia#<I have absolutely seen these sentiments be inclusive of trans men completely ignoring that they don’t equally benefit from patriarchy#mine

No, I’m not ok. But I haven’t been ok since I was 11, maybe 12. I am still here though. I’m still breathing. For me, sometimes, that will have to be enough.

to any americans who feel "paralyzed" and "dont know what to do" to help with gaza:
reading a fucking book. i beg of you.
in a time of knowledge suppression is it your duty to arm yourself with knowledge.
read about americas occupations in the middle east.
read about 9/11 from outside of america and see how they inflicted senseless harm and violence to countless amounts of people and have been suppressing your rights for the past 2 fucking decades.
read about any of the countless wars from the past 30 years. especially from a civilian's. and the victims and survivors' perspective. listen to the horror stories and do not plug your fucking ears as to what your country is doing.
and read about fucking gaza and palestine and keep up with what is happening no matter how "sad" or "uncountable" you might get.
dont look away from this.
you dont have the right to be comfortable during countless active genocides.
if you're knowledgeable, you're powerful, and our current state doesnt fucking want that.
you have the power to change things if you open your eyes and scream to the world.
wake the fuck up.
Edit: please check the reblogs there are readings and ways to help
#og#truly if youre not about it your against it and i dont fuck with you because you're complacent#wake the fuck up#we're all responsible and dont you dare say you're not#americans need to stop living in the world with their eyes closed and their ears covered#look at what your fucking 'glorious country' is doing to people#everyone should be against america no fucking exceptions because america is violent and evil and needs to be stopped#then read about what america has done to the natives of their land#radicalize yourself#decolonize your mind#free palestine#land back#palestine will be free#theres too many fucking movements of just the past couple years all happening at once to act like the world is fucking fine#we are in a human rights CRISIS#WAKE THE FUCK UP PLEASE

Most english orthographic reforms fail because they're trying to make the language better when they should be making it worse. In pursuit of that idea, starting in fall 2024 we're adding six new letters to make reading harder.
1. Reverse P
Completing the b-d-p rotational cycle and causing confusing with g and q (the hook on the q is now mandatory).
2. Lower i
Uppercase is a lowercase i and lowercase is an even lower i.
3. Left bracket
For it's hard work over the years, [ is being promoted to the alphabet proper. Lower case is a reverse h. Fuck right bracket.
4. Long M
Just like a regular M but two of the legs keep going. Long M is a vowel in all cases that Y isn't.
5. Reverse X
Like X but in reverse. To tell the difference we're adding these little curls to X, so regular X now looks like this
6. Reverse F
Uppercase is a reverse F, lowercase is an upside down v. Fuck you is why.

Men masturbate to shit that would be considered an actual fucking crime in literally any other context outside of porn and then act like that has no influence whatsoever on how they view and interact with women.

The fact that men are credited with advancing civilization, rather than condemned for critically stunting its advancement after they forbade half of humanity from contributing, is an excellent example of an androcentric analysis.

Reminder that "cis woman lesbians" that end up as straight trans men aren't any less queer than they were before. They aren't less in need/deserving of support, advocacy, research, and resources. They may be straight, but dominant systems don't necessarily view them that way, and still see their sexuality as queer in addition to seeing their gender identity as queer. Sending some love to straight trans guys who got the "ugh another straight man" response when they came out. Jokes with close friends are one thing, but let's be real: your identity isn't any less feminist, less radical, less queer than when you thought you were cis.
#transandrophobia#mine#if you're a straight trans man who doesn't consider yourself as queer then I get you you don't have to!#but it isn't inherent to being a straight trans man. straight trans manhood is plenty radical in the eyes of cishets and it should be to us

The "radical leftists" on this site who talk constantly about the importance of solidarity and kindness and compassion and then immediately tell anyone who disagrees with them to kill themselves are going to be devastated when they learn how much of actual union organizing involves talking to people whose politics you find incredibly repugnant and meeting them where they're at in order to find common ground
#so weird that none of the organizing lectures I've been to have advocated for suicide baiting as a tactic#can't imagine why that would be#turns out 'worker solidarity except for anyone who i deem not radical enough' isn't actually solidarity

please consider how you engage with aaron bushnell's death. you may react to it as you will, but it's crucial to remember that his death was specifically a call to action. it was not meant solely to shock but to draw attention to a vast moral hypocrisy: that to many, a soldier dying in a campaign backed by the U.S. government is noble, even if the soldier kills innocents to do so, even if the cause is morally bankrupt--but this? this is insanity. a man taking his own life, on his own terms, in an attempt to help others while hurting nobody else, is somehow less rational and more horrifying than the mass killing of civilians.
of course aaron's death was horrific. but as he said beforehand, it is realistically no more horrific than what's happening in gaza. if we can't stomach this, then why can we stomach children being bombed? thousands being starved? for all that self immolation is, it brings death in a matter of minutes. it is a fraction of the amount of pain, fear, and grief that people in gaza are experiencing. it's just that we are able to quantify it. and this tiny, quantifiable sliver of horror is still so unbelievably awful. how can anyone bear to think about anything else when this horror is happening a millionfold in palestine? this is the question aaron bushnell was asking. and he wanted you to face it, head-on, watching him burn to death.
I've been seeing people make fanart. minimalist graphics to sell on t-shirts. to commodify his death, to mythologize it not a day afterwards, is not only in poor taste but a hindrance to his message. the answer is not commodification, nor is it defeatism, nor is it rejoicing in his death. if you want to honor aaron's legacy, take action. channel your horror and your outrage into making a material change. this wasn't about him. this was about palestine. remember that it was always about palestine.
#aaron bushnell#I didn't want to make another post about this but#watching that video changed me irrevocably.#there have been many instances during this genocide that I've felt that way. and today is another one of those days.#I have been radicalized permanently by these events.#people speak to aaron's death as a result of hopelessness#but I see it as him having profound hope. he had hope that his death would change things.#and it is up to those still alive to ensure that happens.#free palestine
