The Grey~

I can’t pretend that things were as bad as they once were because they’re not.

Context: Cleric has taken a liking to our new teenage rogue and has become very maternal around him, making it so sometimes people think she’s his mom, despite them not being related, much to his annoyance. One time, when he didn’t realize the cleric was listening outside the door while he was at the doctor…

Doctor: Let’s go over some of your treatment options.

Young rogue: Wait, can we get my mom first? She knows more about this stuff than me, I’d appreciate her opinion.

Cleric, bursting into the room, near tears: Did you just call me your mom?!

Rogue: What? No, I- I mean!

Cleric, running over and hugging him: It’s okay, I appreciate it. I love you and I’m happy to be a mother figure for you.

Rogue:

A soft whisper carries on the wind, its words a soft poison to the minds of those who hear it:

"Hunger, hunger, deep inside- "hunger, hunger, that you hide "thirst for love and blood and might "thirsty shadows of the night. "Come, o shadows, come and feed "Come and quench your mighty need "with one kiss to tender skin "And all the night at once shall win~"

(M!A: hearers of this song are gripped by the power of their most base instincts - lust, gluttony, greed, mun's choice, etc!)

Gently, the Song of the Night crept into Daryl’s borrowed bedroom, the window left open to let in the cool night air. It was a song of want, a song of temptation, a song that left the young dhampir very, very.... hungry. Opening his eyes, the young man sat up and slid his legs out of bed. He couldn’t help running a tongue over his pointed canines, the thought of piercing warm flesh and tasting its delicious coppery making his pupils contract almost catlike in the night; a tell of his high vampiric appetite.

Quietly, he dressed himself, opened his door and glanced about the temple grounds. No doubt Cronus was already asleep, which meant no asking for a nifty goblet of fresh, warm blood—not that he’d need it. Surely, there were plenty well endowed enough with blood to spare a few pints.

Don’t mind Daryl.

He’s just going to hunker down in the Oracle house with Diogenes for a while.

A very LONG while.

Kat took in deep breaths, slowly letting them out. Leaning heavily on the work counter of the kitchen. Her claws dug deep into the marble. It felt wrong. It hurt. Like swallowing a cold flame.

It started as a low rumble. A growl. But what broke past her lips shook the temple and shattered nearby glass resonating around the village and even beyond well into the forest driving off game and scaring lower level demons and creatures to flee.

A roar of frustrated and confused emotion that only a dragon could muster.

Daryl can’t help but beam at Cronus’ reply to the greyfolk. Seems a few certain youths intent on calling him “monster” were going to be spitting out crow feathers for a while.~

//Ok but guys consider: Daryl is trying to get home but to get home he has to gain the favor of different deities on various planes (bc who else can bend space and time except for the gods of that specific dimension??)

//So what if he actually does have to do dumb tasks like counting rice? Bc what’s funnier than the irony of making a glitter!vampire do the most obscenely mundane tasks? It’s like how entertaining it is to see normal mortals do insane “there’s no way this mortal can do this” tasks and then see them succeed.

//The ironic humor of it all would be like the gods or Higher Powers watching one of those cooking competition and everyone being like “OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS GUYYYYY” XDDD

//Ok so since I’m very fresh from the ToA (Tales of Arcadia) fandom and dipping my skills into an honest vampiric muse, I have to wonder:

//How would vampires fair against trolls? Would their claws, natural hypnotism, or power over lesser beasts (like wolves/bats/rats) work on trolls? I imagine the power over beasts might work on Stalklings but not reasoning, thinking trolls like Blinky or Gunmar. Though I imagine Changelings might be more susceptible to hypnotism due to being part human, I dunno if it’d work on trolls.

//And would Vampiric claws do any damage to stone flesh, thus giving them an apt defense against the stony brutes? Or would vampires fear trolls as they could be eaten like any other fleshling without their powers?

//And how would this apply to Daryl? In a verse like that, he’d only has his vampiric strengths and weaknesses at night, while during the day, he’s almost normal.

//His mother Karen would definitely fit into the groove of “Modern mage” who’s proficiency in magic is accidental but quickly honed after she meets Vlad (keeper of the Life/Blood stone which I think would be the source of both Vlad and Daryl’s “vampirism” as it uses “unnatural blood magic” and demands a cost for providing its users magic—naturally or not).
