I love how the streaming light and color in this accidental photo turned out. There's a sense of space and calmness to it that was not exactly present in the moment it was taken.

Once upon a time, there lived a woman. Certainly she was an ordinary woman to start, as we all begin our lives as ordinary people who do ordinary things, but she grew to be different, as a precious few tend to do. There came a day when she realized that our time upon this tiny blue rock floating in a sea of blackness is tragically short and ultimately it is better spent surrounding oneself with those who truly care, who truly see the good in themselves and others, and who would repay her kindness with the same ferocity and generosity that she showed them.

She realized this, and a good many other things, but upon such epiphanies soon comes the soaring pace of progress, and so she did something that most would not dare to do: She set out on a journey of self discovery.

She turned her sight inward, to learn what it truly means to be oneself so that she could be the absolute best version of her she could be. She turned her ear outward, so that she could better understand the meaning behind the words of others, as to weed out those who would bring negativity or sabotage to her new mantra of inner tranquility. And finally, she opened her mind to any and all new literature and art, scenery and music, absorbing as much fresh knowledge as she possibly could, to better grasp the wonders of the world around her.

She did all of this, not for the approval of others, but for the approval of herself.

She was a wonderful woman who was well loved by those she called friend, and though the intention of her journey was to better herself, it was one that inspired others as well.

It was the very beginning of a brand new year and her world, which consisted of herself (who she already liked, but had grown to love) and her two little ones (who she'd loved all along), was starting to look brighter than ever.

Inspired by your color palette pictures, I went with fabric swatches. Each of these reminded me of you for a different reason: sophistication, playfulness, calmness (not clamness which I've now typed twice by mistake), strength, complexity, energy, beauty... One reminded me of a Klimt picture you posted once, another of cocktail umbrellas in fancy drinks. The dinosaurs reminded me of little boy pajamas. The text, which is probably too small to read, is from Peter Pan. "Second star to the right and then straight on 'til morning...all it takes is faith and trust and, oh! one more thing that I forgot: pixie dust!" Instructions on how to fly.

Once upon a time I went on a road trip to a suburb of Indianapolis to spend a weekend with good friends. We spent the weekend dancing and laughing, and this picture was taken just outside of Scotty's Brewhouse, where I fell in love with fried pickles.

While our lives our different in many ways - I think we're both similarly strong women who are very connected to the people we care most about in our lives - our children and our friendships. And so this picture reminds me of you, not just because it was taken in your general neck of the woods, but because it was taken on a weekend that there were times I laughed so hard I cried with some of the friends I love most... and that seems like something you'd do.

Jennifer contains multitudes, but what is most prominent when I think of her is her fierce devotion to her sons.

She shows them how to live in the world with gentle love, but if anyone tries to mess with them, they would be lucky to pull back a stump.
