Experiment 56 [part 5]

Neteyam x Human reader ( like a mix of human and Navi )

and sullyFAM x human reader, spider x reader , and quaritch x reader (dont blame me )

Tw: mmm neteyam baby, reader being mutant, neytiri being a sweetheart-mother, jealousy, spider being spider, Watch out for quaritch, 18+ light smut, net and spider fighting like baby girls, all the characters are aged up 20's.

POV: Y/N is surprised that it is an indispensable piece for the human race. Her family will do everything possible to keep her hidden and safe…

Note: I loved this part, it's a bit long. So please enjoy it. I think there are only two or three parts left to finish the series, but I don't know yet. And remember that if you want me to do more stuff about other characters, go ahead, the request is open. From now on I warn you that I am not very expert in this Navi culture, but I did my best. And I'll be using events that happened in the movie, but they won't be exactly the same. And sorry for the spelling. English is not my mother tongue.

You were already on your way to marui that you shared with your family, you were so upset. How dare he say that to you, wasn't Neteyam his friend. You were not his friend?, you thought it was all clear. You and spider never worked out and decided to be friends. But now, he's saying that you and neteyam aren't compatible. But maybe spider is right… you might have some physical characteristics of a navi, but you were still a human. You were nothing… well, maybe he was right. Neteyam needed to be with someone just like him. And you well… there was only one, you. So you would have to stay alone. You would really like to know what was the purpose of your creation.

You enter the marui, everyone was there except neteyam. Tuk and kiri were in a corner playing. And neytiri, jake and loak were sitting together preparing dinner. You walk in and go straight to where neytiri is. "Here are the snails, I picked up quite a few" you affirm and hand the bag to neytiri, while changing your gaze to go sit somewhere else. "Thank you sweetheart." Said neytiri surprised by your behavior, you were never this cold to her. Everyone was silent and looked at each other. "What could be happening to her?" said jake, while looking at neytiri. "what did you do to her?" jake gives loak a punch on his arm." Ouch, I didn't do anything… she was alone on the beach" loak complains. "She won't be at it…dad what does she get y/n every month" loak looks at his father, "period?, I don't think so" jake looks at neytiri for her to confirm it.

Neytiri didn't know about the "period" thing until one day when you were 10 years old, loak came to tell her that you were dying and that she had to say goodbye to you. Neytiri ran to where you were, and saw blood coming down from your legs. She took you in her arms and ran to Norm and max's lab. She wasn't a big fan of humans, but she trusted Norm enough. He was practically her children's uncle. "What's happening to her?" asks neytiri in panic. While you are crying, loak is also crying because he thinks his sister is going to die. Norm laughs a little and explains that periods are normal for the human female body. After that, Jake helps Neytiri understand how it all works. Two months later, Neytiri was an expert. She even prepared a special kind of reusable pad for you. Mo'at was in charge of preparing some drinks to ease the pains and loak was no longer crying for his sister.

"no, it's not her period yet. She's upset." Neytiri looks at loak, and pushes him a little." Go and talk to your sister and then come and tell us what she told you" neytiri orders loak, " but mom, they are literally sending me alive to a thanator" loak complains again. "Go, listen to your mother" jake pushes loak a little bit. He gets up and walks over to you, looks back and sees his parents waving for him to keep walking. "They're such old gossips" thinks loak, arriving to where you were and sitting down next to you. There was a long silence… too long for his taste. You were ignoring him, loak saw how you were organizing your snail collection. He had to admit, you have a talent for that. But that wasn't his mission. "Hey, how nice your snails look" loak spoke, making you look at him with a murderous look," tell mom and dad I'm not going to say anything" you speak. "Please!!! They forced me to ask you" loak pushes you a little with his arm. Again there was silence…

"Loak, I had a little argument with spider, but it's nothing serious. " you said to your annoying brother, you were hoping he would stop bothering you." you said to your annoying brother, you were hoping he would stop bothering you. "ahhhh I see, it's because of that" Loak says, while trying to understand the situation. "What are you talking about? You know something" now it's loak's turn to answer. "Well, since you're my sister aka best friend, I'll tell you… Spider told me he had feelings for you. I told him to stay out of it. Because I know and we all know that you and neteyam are fucking everywhere" you roll your eyes while loak keeps talking. "he insisted… and he told me that he was happy for you, but that he still loved you and blah blah blah. I of course, am always by your side. So I told him he was an idiot and missed his chance." Loak finishes speaking, this one sitting up straight and with a goofy grin. "Thanks for being faithful, battle buddy," you say as you tap him on the back.

"you know… I don't want this to affect my friendship with spider, I love him. But… neteyam is the love of life" loak makes a disgusted face. "I don't know what you see….but if you say so. Look, then talk to spider and set the things clear, And that's it" loak strokes your hair. You go over to him and hug him. They stayed like that for a moment, until you felt the stares of your parents." Go tell those gossips, I lost a precious snail and that's it." You say to loak, "Understood, ma'am" loak stands up. You know it's true, you must go talk to spider. But that will be tomorrow.

Meanwhile on the beach, neteyam is walking straight towards spider. Spider waves to neteyam, until neteyam walks up and pushes him into the sand. "What the fuck is your problem with y/n?" neteyam asks him, while his taller figure looks up and threatens spider from above. "I don't know what you're talking about? What's wrong with you, bro?" spider stands up from the sand. "You know what I'm talking about, you and y/n. Why do you keep hurting her." Neteyam is noticeably pissed off, pupils dilated, breaths heavy and the fingers on his hand tightening with every second. "I didn't do anything to her. I was just talking to her." Spider defends himself. "Well stop talking to her." Neteyam said, as he moved closer to the boy's face. "you have to understand that she is mine now." Neteyam looks spider in the eyes, spider is not quick to be intimidated. "i know it's yours…but that doesn't take away my privilege to speak my opinion." Spider spat, neteyam was about to hit spider, he controlled himself because he knew it would be an unfair fight.

"Well you should swallow your options for yourself. Because the last opinion you're going to have will be your ass back in the shelter with the other humans." Said neteyam, as he turned around and walked to the marui. Spider stayed there in silence, like it or not neteyam was right, he didn't have any power over you. Besides, he didn't want to go back, he liked it here…after all you guys were the only family he had. He would miss you guys a lot, even neteyam, he knows neteyam threatened him because he was upset, but they were still friends. And he didn't want to walk away from Kiri, she was special to him.

Spider swallowed hard, and followed neteyam who was already farther away. When they reached Marui, everyone noticed the tension between the two men. Jake looked at loak, and loak made a face at his father that he didn't know what had happened. Meanwhile you were at neytiri's side, dinner was already served. "Come and eat, everyone. And take off those long faces," Neytiri scolded. Everyone sat down. Kiri sat next to spider. Loak on spider's left side. Tuk in the middle of jake and neytiri. And right in front of kiri and spider, there was you and neteyam. Neteyam settled close to you, and curled his tail around your waist, a very territorial action of omaticaya males. They used to do this to mark their female, as a mating signal, it was something like "she belongs to me". Neytiri noticed the action of her eldest son, and this confirmed to her that something was going on with you. Literally, neteyam was saying that you were a couple and to stay away from you. Jake looked quickly at neytiri, and she gave him a smile. They scoffed silently.

Spider was looking at neteyam serious, he saw how his tail curled more around your waist, how close you were to each other. How you and neteyam were sharing bits of food. He had to admit it bothered him, because he knew neteyam had won. Meanwhile the others at the table were enjoying the view, it was funny. Dinner was over, some of you were already going to rest, others were cleaning up. Neteyam came up to your ear. "Hey, let's go to our place, shall we?" you smile a little and nod your head. "Dad, y/n and I are going for a ride with the ikran. We'll come back later" said neteyam, while taking your hand and they go out of the marui, " watch out" said neytiri, looking at both of you. You say goodbye and leave.

"You have to get over it, you'll find someone else" said Kiri to Spider, these two were already settling in to go to sleep." I know, I should apologize to y/n tomorrow,” Spider speaks, as she settles down. “Your plan failed” Kiri mocks. Spider pushes Kiri around a bit, as the two settle down, ready to sleep.

Neteyam and you arrive at your place, you jump down from the ikran. "hey!!!, ¡Careful, you're going to hurt yourself" shouts neteyam, as he follows you. Careful, you're going to hurt yourself" shouts neteyam, as he follows you. You settle into your favorite spot, this place was beautiful. You could tell that no one was going to this place, there were bright plants and the little light that came in, so the atmosphere was perfect, quiet, cozy. Neteyam sat next to you, making you sit between his legs. "I talked to spider" said neteyam, turning to look at him. "I noticed, you guys looked annoyed". Neteyam bends down to leave several kisses on the back of your neck, he loved your scent, it was one of his favorite things. "I think he understood what I meant" neteyam speaks, between kisses. He was already kissing the side of your neck, tickling you. "Neteyam stop…". "but why?" he places his big hands on the sides of your body, lifting you up to turn you over. He lifts you up a little, and your face is right in front of his. "mmm what do you want my big boy?" you ask him as you cross your arms around his neck, neteyam moves his arms to your thighs causing you to place them around his waist, you were already sitting on top of him. "I want a kiss." You giggle a little and give him a small kiss. Neteyam moans, and you give him another. "another one." One kiss after another. "you know… you look beautiful today. I like this top you have on" neteyam points, as he slides his index finger from your chest slowly… across your breasts to your belly button. You take a deep breath… you were very faint to his touch. "I prepared it myself" you say as you watch him continue to move down, to where you needed him most." By yourself?" neteyam asks, " yes…by myself" you breathe, until you feel neteyam playing with the garter of your loincloth. "neteyam…" you moan, as you start to lift your hips, looking to release some tension. "mmm you have to take it easy, there is no rush" as he slides his hand slowly to your wetness. You move in for a kiss, neteyam already started playing with your center, as you moved your hips back and forth, trying to seek your release. "love, you are so wet…and we are just getting started" he kept moving his hand. "I need you so much…" Neteyam kissed your forehead, as he removed his hand, to lift you up and get you settled closer. You can already feel his growing bump. "me too y/n, me too." Neteyam says placing his free hand on your hips ,helping you to grind in his lap. The rest is history…

It was morning, you and neteyam had returned to the marui late at night. Neytiri saw when they arrived, how they were playing around. She even saw when you kissed before you lay down to sleep. She didn't want to say anything, until you two felt comfortable. Inside she felt something… she didn't want to interrupt in your relationship. She knew it was strange too, because of your physical naturalness. But also, she was not uncomfortable with the idea, because you could unite with him before eywa. She wanted to get this feeling off her chest. She knew how much you loved each other. She just hoped you knew what you were doing.

Neytiri stepped forward and began to lift tuk, and kiri. Spider got up a little at a time." Good morning…neytiri" he said shyly." Good morning spider" smiles neytiri, it was the first time she smiled at him. Jake was already up and on his way to where you and Neteyam were lying down. You are lying on spoons, neteyam's hand was literally hugging you completely. "ahhhh no respect anymore!!!" complains jake, " leave them alone." Neytiri scolded jake, "yeah, they were very very very very late" scoffed loak. Neytiri smiled a little, jake walked up to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "The family is growing…don't you think so?" he whispers in her ear, neytiri blushes a little." Yes, but don't bother them. They will know when to tell us" she received another kiss from jake. She loved this man so much.

You started to get up, you took neteyam's hand and take it away from you as you sit down. "mmm it's too early, my head hurts" you complain a little, while wiping your eyes." Sure…with the things you must have done" loak says, you blush quickly and punch her on the arm." Leave her alone…. Why are you like this?" kiri scolds loak. "Where's mom and dad?" you ask." They went out with tuk for a walk" loak said, as he reached over to his brother to pick him up. "oh, I wanted to talk to mom." You say as you sit down next to kiri, "they'll be back soon I'm sure…y/n do you want me to fix your hair?" asks kiri, you settle towards her, kiri starts to arrange some pieces of your hair. Neteyam slowly got up, while loak kept bothering him. "let me your skxáwng" says neteyam, pushing loak. " hey, tell me where were you with y/n last night?" asks loak, to his brother, he was trying to speak softly so you wouldn't hear him." Come here…come closer…. I'm not going to tell you anything" neteyam yells a little to his brother, as he gets up to go to where you were with kiri. Loak gives him a dirty look and follows him.

Spider was quiet, settling some things. He wanted to apologize to you, he knew what he had said was out of line. But he didn't know how. Meanwhile neteyam sat in front of you, enjoying the view of watching her sister fix your hair. Love this view…loak was talking to you, kiri helping you. He feels grateful…he feels like he grew up with his future partner. "hey, ma neteyam…have some water" you offer him from your cup, he takes it and swallows some. Spider takes this moment to approach you. "hey, y/n we could talk in private" says spider, neteyam looks up." Well…when kiri is done. It's okay" you accept his invitation, after all you guys are like family. You hated being on bad terms with him. Neteyam looks at you and you give him a calming smile. "Come here, sit down skxáwng" said neteyam to spider while pulling his arm. Spider sat down, he felt comfortable again. Neteyam played with his hair, while loak and he started talking. It didn't take long, until kiri finished. "Spider… aren't we going?" you say to him, as you stand up. Spider follows you. "hey, remember not to take too long… we will prepare breakfast soon" said kiri, you told him that you will be home, in less than half an hour. You and spider walked to the shore. Neteyam watched you from afar as you walked away. "hey bro, relax… y/n is your girl" said loak to him. Neteyam looks at him and then catches him by the neck to throw him to the ground. "ahh get a hold of yourselves I'm trying to find something" the two brothers ignore kiri and continue to play around.

"How about we take a ride in my ilu, while we talk" you comment, spider saw that you were in a good mood. He agreed, since spider couldn't have an ilu, he got in with you on your ilu and they set off. You rode away beyond Reef. You weren't worried, you had been here many times before. "and well…" you begin to speak, spider settles back and takes a deep breath." I'm sorry… I was out of line, I shouldn't have had an opinion about you and neteyam's relationship. I know you are perfect for each other. I just feel…jealousy. Forgive me please" Spider looked down, he was waiting for you to turn him down. In return you gave him a big hug." I forgive you idiot. I…I can't change how you feel, but I appreciate you recognizing that you were wrong." You say as you and spider share a quality smile. After all…you were friends.

It doesn't take long, until spider notices a boat in the distance." What's that?" spider points, as you look off into the distance. And yes, it was a boat speeding towards you. You and spider panicked and started to swim with your ilu, as far away as possible. But it was almost impossible, your ilu was still too young to reach very fast speeds, and that boat was approaching fast." Come on, let's go!!!" shouted spider, he looked back and could see a recognizable figure. It was the same avatar from the forest, the one that had captured them several weeks ago. The boat got close enough to drift the two of you into the water. You couldn't see who they are, because I was so focused on guiding your ilu.

When you fell into the water, you saw your ilu spinning in the water… he had hit it. Spider was a bit far away from you. As you were about to reach for him, a large hand grabbed your braid pulling you to the surface. "ahhhh let me go" you cried out in pain, the braid was a very sensitive thing. When you made eye contact with the person who had dragged you into that boat. To your surprise it was one of the avatar soldiers from the forest and the famous intimidating man. "here's the girl miles!!!! We got her!" said Lyle as he sat you down on one of the seats in the boat, while tying you up with some kind of red handcuff." Well, well… we just caught a beautiful little mermaid. hello, gorgeous do you remember me?" Quaritch came up to your face, and grabbed your chin. You spit in his face. Quaritch straightens up and wipes his face." Mmm you're lucky I like that stuff" he looks at you with a mocking look. "ok, let's go…we got our prize, straight to base" Quaritch yells to one of his soldiers who was driving.

"Spider…SPIDER!!!" you shout, but it's already useless. You see how there is no one on the surface… your tears come out of your eyes. Quaritch makes eye contact with you, and wow…. You were beautiful.

p.s: This is getting good… I've already started part 6, but I'm exhausted. It's already 3:00 am here. I've had a lot of work lately, but I still hope you like this part. Let me know what you think. I hope to have part 6 ready by tomorrow. <3

Ok I’m just going to send this out. Instead of overthinking on the inclusion of some contestants. Thank you again to all who submitted in characters!

....Alex transitions and Kyle is immediately like "so can you have babies. That would be hot" and they have sex about it and turns out some guy with a breeding kink talking about how he wants to knock you up is like. gender euphoria to Alex

Alex discovering her always going for moms in the past isn't because of her abandonment issues or wanting an authority figure to take control, but because she's projecting her desire to get bred onto them — that feels perfectly in character, honestly.

Alex has always wanted to be seen as normal and therefore worth something; this stems from childhood emotional neglect as well the trauma of having that normalcy ripped away upon her mutant reveal all the way back in X-Men #56-57. And she would consider gestating and birthing a man's children probably the most normal thing a woman can do, I think.

Not alone after all

Name: Alex

Species: mutant and cybernetic bat

After hearing the rumors that Blue Sun is experimenting on children Alex wanted to destroy blue sun once and for all and bring that company to its knees. He's already killed 56 of their mercenaries heck he's even planning on settling the score with Samuel Joesph. Why you may ask.

Because even though it wasn't blue sun that tormented him with experiments he doesn't want anyone else to go through the trauma he experienced when he was a child. As you can see the notorious Dr Dawn experimented on him.

If it wasn't for Jax breaking out batch 50 he would still been used as a test subject. Years later Alex took revenge on Dr Dawn ending Dr Dawn's life in the process. From that day forward he declared that if he found out that if another mad scientist is out there wants to hurt people or any living thing he'll make sure to handle them.

Despite his past he's actually a very kindhearted mutant the only downside to this is he's afraid of hurting someone when he gives them a hug or shaking their hand because of his giant cybernetic claws.

Alexis: “Princess, Princess Lola?”

Lola: “Hm?”

Alexis: “We’ve got some good news for you.”

Lola: “Oh, please come in, Alexis. What happened?”

Alexis: “We’ve all managed to capture Umbra May! Right now she’s in the dungeons. Currently almost fully powerless!”

Lola: “That’s great. Shall I write a letter to tell father about this?”

Alexis: “Please do. He’d be thrilled to hear about it.”

Lola: “And is she comfortable down there? Food and water being sent down?”

Alexis: “I believe so. Though honestly such things really shouldn’t be your concern. Leave it to the rest of us to worry about that.”

Lola: “Oh, I’m sure it would be alright Alexis. Papa is away. At least now you can let me take part in some of the affairs of the kingdom. What he doesn’t know wouldn’t hurt him.”

Alexis: “Heh. Right then.”

Lola: “Speaking of which…”

Alexis: “Hm?”

Lola: “Can you… carry me down to look at her? I think I want a word with her.”

Alexis: “… That I can’t do, Princess.”

Alexis: “Your father made it very clear that we should protect you from such villains. Your mother, if she was still around, would also greatly disapprove. What sort of guard would I be if I just let the Princess down there like that? I can’t put you at risk like that.”

Lola: “Aw, Alexis… but Papa won’t be around forever. I have to take part in something soon enough so I can learn how to run this kingdom. For goodness sake, I’m almost eighteen. I may be bound to this chair and kind of sickly, but surely I can at least talk to a prisoner.”

Alexis: [Folds her arms. Moment of silence.]

Lola: “Besides, if you stay by my side, I’m sure that I’ll be alright. I trust that you can keep me safe.”

Alexis: [Sighs] “Very well, Princess. Just let me put away my swords first.”

Information:

Born in the kingdom of Letice, the earliest known records of her involved her being rescued from a human experimentation ring as a child. From there, she was placed at Madam Delilah’s Home for Happy Youngsters, where she stayed until her adulthood.

She has had notable behavioural problems since young, with many children complaining of her threatening to kill or mutilate them in graphic ways. Workers at Madam Delilah’s have remarked that she had been ‘non-compliant’ as a child, frequently exhibiting ‘anti-social’ behaviour. One has remarked that she had come across as rather ‘disturbed’ and ‘troubled’ during her time working there.

Umbra May has done good work destroying many of her original documents. To date no one knows what her real name is.

Her attempts to create mutants out of humans and animals seem to stem from a need to reclaim control of her life after her traumatic childhood. Sending these mutants onto human villages seemed to stem from resentment at humans who have not had mutations or other magical body modifications done on them.

Currently, she is kept in Cellblock 56. Two guards are to be on duty guarding her cell at any given time.

Lola: “Hello.” Umbra May: “...”

Lola: “So, are you settling in nicely?”

Umbra May: “...”

Lola: “Dinner would be coming for you soon. I hope you enjoy it.” Umbra May: “I’d probably enjoy it more if you could actually come in here to talk to me. Instead of hiding behind this wall… your bodyguard.” Lola: [Sighs] “It was a compromise. I don’t think I’m really allowed to do very much without someone else helping me out. This castle didn’t have many ramps installed in it. Funny story really, I think Papa wanted to install some ramps at first, but doing so would risk damaging the castle. And well, this place is old and beautiful and we don’t want to risk the crumbling, so now I’m just making do with being carried by others.”

Umbra May: “Why did you come in? Something you want to ask? Any curiosities you want satisfied?”

Lola: “Ah, well. Yes actually. I came down here because, well, I have read your file. I’m not allowed to interfere a lot in the kingdom’s affairs, generally, but I sometimes get a guard to slip me some documents here and there. And well, I think you’re a little different from many of the other criminals we have here.”

Umbra May: “Is that so?” Lola: [Nods] “I see in you someone who has been hurt by her past. And what you have gone through sounds horrifically hard. I have lived a very comfortable life in comparison - an extremely comfortable life. But well, I also believe that how someone starts doesn’t have to determine who they become in the end. So, I came here to ask if perhaps… you would like to become a soldier for our kingdom? We always need new magicians, and you’re very clearly gifted in the art. Maybe… maybe you could try to use those talents for something better?”

Umbra May: “... Is this your idea of a joke, Princess?”

Lola: “Um, no. No, I’m being. I’m being very serious right now. If you want to join us, you most certainly can. You don’t have to, but I just want you to know that you could always walk away from all of this.” Umbra May: “Well, my answer is no. Sorry Dolores. But my answer is over my dead, rotting, maggot-infested body. Now get your pretty little spoiled ass upstairs and out of my sight.”

[Silence. Alexis picks Lola up from her chair and begins walking up the stairs.]

Lola: “I guess we may just have to keep trying.”

Alexis: “I personally wouldn’t bother Princess. Some people just never change. And honestly, I doubt that she could ever make up for all that she’d done.”

Lola: “Still… I still think we should try again. Maybe she might do better with another one of the guards. You’re supervising a young guard tomorrow right?”

Alexis: “Yes Princess. With Hazel.”

Lola: “Maybe you could bring her down when you two try to talk to her again? I think it’ll be good for her to have this sort of experience, don’t you think? At least see how to treat a prisoner right.”

Alexis: “You have a point. Anyways, here you go. Comfy?” Lola: “Very. Thank you Alexis. Sometimes, I wonder what I would even do without you and the rest of the castle staff.”

Alexis: [Laughs] “Well, let’s pray you won’t ever have to worry about that.”

Umbra May: “Back again, Bodyguard? And you’ve brought more people with you this time, I see.”

Alexis: “The name’s Alexis. There’s Hazel here, and the kid at the back is Lunette. You will refer to us by our proper names.” Umbra May: “I’ll do what I want, Bodyguard. Anyways, what are you back in here for? Execution orders?” Hazel: “Far from it. In fact, the Princess wanted us to come down here again to ask you if you want to join the guard. She thought seeing a proper magician here could probably spur something in you. You know, see a possible future in me and all.”

Umbra May: “Well, I certainly don’t see much of myself in you, you heifer. Dolores definitely got it wrong there.”

Alexis: “You will refer to Princess Dolores as either ‘Princess Dolores’ or ‘Princess’. Whoever gave you the right to refer to her as-” [Hazel puts her hand on her shoulder.] “Let’s begin this discussion.”

Hazel: “Firstly, we would like to know what you stand to gain from being down in these dungeons?”

Umbra May: “Nothing much. This is a pretty good cell, I must admit. Better than some of the horrors of the lower floors. A girl like me could hardly ask for anything better.”

Hazel: “Oh, but things could be better for you. Plenty of companionship, three square meals a day, the chance to truly hone your craft. There’s a lot going for the position, honestly.”

Umbra May: “Well, good for you. But I don’t have much of an interest in joining you lot. [To Alexis] And I swear, Bodyguard, but you seem familiar-”

Alexis: “Right then. So I guess we’re done here. See you now.”

Hazel: “Ah well. We did try, didn’t we? Who knows though, perhaps Princess Lola would like us to come back down here again tomorrow.”

Alexis: “Unlikely. And if she does, I’m not going down again.” Lunette: “Wait.”

Hazel: “Yes Lunette?” Lunette: “May I… may I ask her a question?”

Alexis: “... Make it a quick one. [Whispering] And keep your scythe ready.”

Lunette: “Miss Umbra May, I want to know. What could we do to make the place more accommodating to you? Such that you would want to join?”

Umbra May: “... Oh? Is that really the best fucking question you have for me, child? Well, godsdamned, and here I was hoping you would ask an actually intelligent question. Guess there goes my hope for the next generation. My answer is ‘nothing’, got it? Now piss off out of here, all of you.”

Hazel: “It was a good try, wasn’t it?” Alexis: “You can call it that. I wouldn’t try it ever again, not even Princess Lola begged me.”

Lunette: “... Could I ask something though?” Alexis: “Sure.” Hazel: “What would you like to know?”

Lunette: “It’s more like. I’ve done a lot of reading lately. Looking at the prisoner records. Reading up about their past and seeing what’s gone on. And I… had this thought…”

Hazel: “Go on.” Lunette: “Well, I wield a scythe because it was common for people in my family to send their girls to train to become a Sister of the Lifeline. And I picked up scythe wielding from there. Hazel, you became a witch because you had an Aunt who was your village’s witch, and she wanted a protege, so she trained both you and your sister in witchcraft. And Alexis, you’re trained in hookswords because when you signed on to the King’s army, they gave you the training for it since they needed more people who could dual wield. There’s a lot about our lives that comes about because of where we happen to be in life.” Alexis: “And what’s your point, girl?”

Lunette: “My point is that, we’re all shaped by the type of place that we’ve started out in, right? We all have origins, and all these origins end up shaping us and colouring how we do things by giving us opportunities. I read a lot of prisoners’ profiles, and I think… I think there’s a lot of prisoners who probably just need better opportunities. And I don’t think it’s fair that we brush her off like that so soon.”

Hazel: “Hm.”

Alexis: “That’s a nice thought Lunette. I can tell that… you really have a very kind heart. Hold on to that heart, it’s important for warriors to have a heart like yours. But, I’ll be honest, you really can’t be so optimistic with some people. Some people, you can give them all the chances and opportunities in the world, but they still will not change. And I know this sounds harsh, but I don’t want to be hurt when you see that actually happening. It is something you will have to deal with.”

Lunette: “But what does this have to do with Umbra May?” Alexis: “It has to do with her because she had years and years to change. She could have seeked some sort of help, but instead she chose to waste all that time hurting other people, hurting all those animals. I know you want to help her. It would be amazing if she could someday make real amends for her wrongs and make up for it all. But after she spent all that time causing so much harm, I don’t think it’s likely that she will want to change anytime soon.”

Lunette: “The Princess believes she can change.” Alexis: “But the point is she hasn’t. Look, Lunette. We aren’t empty vessels that can only go in the direction life pushes us. We can fight back. I didn’t join the guard easily; I was a street urchin when I was younger. I had to work all the way up here, because I didn’t let where I started stop me. Or even look at Hazel’s friend, Val. She grew up in this magical cult that routinely slaughtered people in sacrifice to demons, but she didn’t let that stop her. She joined up with us the first chance she got. Lunette, I know you want to see the good in others, but you have to also be realistic about it.”

Hazel: “You know. Why don’t we break for lunch?”

Alexis: [Sighs] “That’s a good idea.”

Lunette: “But we can’t just end this conversation like this!” Alexis: “Alright. My final word on the matter is that she could always walk away from all of it. But she didn’t, and she’s still refusing to. And that’s my point. End of conversation.”

Lunette: “I wish she would be more open-minded.”

Hazel: “You’d get used to it. It really is just an Alexis thing; once she makes her mind up on something she’ll cling onto it like a starving wolf to meat. Just keep that in mind, and take her opinion with a pinch of salt.”

Lunette: “It bothers me though. The Sisters of the Lifeline were big on redemption, and on making a world where people could be kinder. The problem isn’t people, I don’t think. It’s a world that doesn’t let people be kind. So many people could just be much better people if they were in a place that would let them! That’s my point. But she didn’t even let me make my point!”

Hazel: “Well, you two have a point. And what I really have to say to you about it is that ultimately, you can’t push a redemption onto other people. It has to be something she wants for herself first, before you can even start to try and help her. Pass me a mandrake root?” Lunette: “Here. I don’t know how to help her out with that though. I would like to…” Hazel: “But ultimately, it’s not your responsibility to do that. Don’t be so hard on yourself for not personally dragging her kicking and screaming into being a better person.”

Lunette: “I know… But what do I do about Alexis then?” Hazel: “Like I said, you don’t have to do anything about her. And anyways, she’s a little trapped inside her own mind too. So it’ll be wise if you spare some of your sympathy for her too.”

Lunette: “Oh? What happened to her then?”

Hazel: “Well, you’re aware of her brother, aren’t you?”

Lunette: “Joseph, isn’t it?”

Hazel: “That’s the one. They were thick as thieves when they were younger. He was her only family, they joined up together. You know, meeting up with the woman who, well, who brought your brother to a state of unimaginable pain, and forced you to kill him out of mercy… It does hurt your heart. Pains you even.

Lunette: “I… yes, I guess it really would be painful.”

Hazel: “And well - don’t tell her I told you this; this part of the conversation will be kept between the two of us only - but she did struggle in her grief at first. There were many nights where I heard her contemplating over a bottle of drink about going on a quest for revenge. She took his death rather hard, see.”

Lunette: “Hm…”

Hazel: “But well, I think this may be a good opportunity to play devil’s advocate again. Now, it was a tough thing, grieving for her brother. But she had to stick with her principles in the end; that’s just the sort of person Alexis is. I asked her once, why didn’t she go on her actual quest for revenge? And you know what she said? She told me, right there, she couldn’t live with herself if this turned her into someone she despised.”

Lunette: “...” Hazel: “And you know, she didn’t bring her swords down to the dungeon for the same reason. I would say that, fundamentally, you two raise good points. She is a product of her environment, as we all are. But she also is not an empty vessel subservient to the whims of everything around her.” Lunette: “So how do you propose we go about this then?” Hazel: “I think… we let her get comfortable first. Give her time to adjust, reflect. And when she feels she is ready for it, I think we give her the chance to really redeem herself.”

Lunette: “Hm…” Hazel: “And oh yes, by the way.”

Lunette: “Yeah?” Hazel: “It’s your birthday isn’t it? Happy sweet sixteenth.”

Lunette: “Oh, yeah. Honestly, I have forgotten that it was today too. Thank you.”

Cassie: “Well this seems like a huge waste of money.”

Val: “Oh definitely. If you calculate it out, having a monarchy really is a horrendous waste of resources in general.”

Cassie: “Not quite what I meant. But I’m sure you could tell me all about it.” Val: “It would help if you read some of the books I gave you. They explain some concepts in there better than I ever could.”

Cassie: “I’ll get around to it, sheesh. Anyways, if you hate the monarchy so much, why don’t you get another job? Why continue working here?” Val: “Find another job? In this economy? Darling, we’re at constant war with other kingdoms; all the other available jobs are just fueling that. I’m not going to join up with that.”

Cassie: “Hah!” Val: “Besides, you’re here. And that just makes the job seem a bit more like a good deal.” Cassie: “Hehe, oh you…”

[Val kisses Cassie on the cheek]

Cassie: “You’re also trying to stick with your plan, aren’t you? Changing the system from the inside and all.”

Val: “You got that right. And it would go a lot faster, I’m sure, if you joined me.” Cassie: “Like I said, I’ll get to it. Reading takes a while for me, you know? My trade’s smashing stuff, and I chose it because you didn’t have to read a ton about it.”

Val: “Aw, I’ll read it to you if you need it. Anyways, shall we get going?”

Cassie: “Let’s. Anyways, maybe you may be able to reach her a little. You’re both kind of similar. Magical, shitty childhoods, um… you both dress in all-black.”

Val: “Hehe. Princess Lola chooses her players well, I’d say. But honestly, I wouldn’t expect much to be accomplished in this visit. Much of it isn’t the right type of place for a self-redemption to take place.”

Cassie: “This is related to your whole ‘abolish the dungeons’ spiel again, right?” Val: “Well, what else would it be about? The dungeons really are a terrible place to live in. You don’t even get sunlight.” Cassie: “I think your plan to end it may need a little work though. It’ll be hard convincing everyone to just let… you know, a bunch of thieves and monsters roam among them out there.”

Val: “It’s a kindness to those who have been imprisoned for too long though. Through it all, I will always be on their side. We only have too much in common.”

Cassie: “If you say so, I guess…”

Val: “Anyways, what do you want to do for lunch after this? I’m thinking of that nice sandwich place. We’ve not been there in a while.”

Lola: “How’s it going this time?” Lunette: “Not very well.” Cassie: “It’s the same results time and time again Princess. We try to be nice to her, she bites back. It always happens.”

Lola: “Well… is there anything more we could try? Val, is there something you could do?” Val: “Well, I did give my suggestions to the head of the guards. Don’t think they’ve really considered it much though. All I've gotten back from them has been radio silence.”

Lola: “Well, how long would your proposal take? What do we need to do?” Val: “I think I’ve brought it up to you before, but it’s all basic stuff. Make more humane dungeons - maybe get rid of the system entirely. Surely that could be done. You are the princess after all.”

Lola: “Oh right. I think… you have said that to me before in the past. About all prisoners.”

Val: “Yes, and I truly think this could be the best move forward.” Lola: “It would take a while though… and in any case, I’m not sure what Father would think of this. Or for that matter, Mother. This act… it wouldn’t really honour the type of woman she was in life, would it?” Val: “Well, probably not. But who said you needed to listen to your mother from beyond the grave?”

Cassie: “Psst, Val sweetie, little respect for the Queen here.”

Lola: “Yes, please don’t talk about Mother like this. I… understood she was a strict woman. But she did love this kingdom and she loved its people. She truly understood law and strove for fairness. It would not be fair, I don’t think, if we let everyone out all at once. For some, this confinement really is an appropriate punishment. And for Umbra May in particular, I worry her current mental state may lead to harm - either to herself or others.” Val: “You’re talking about that evaluation they did of her recently right?” Lola: “I would trust the doctors. I think she can truly change, but she needs help for that. And we need to give her a structure. Provide her with that help.”

Val: [glances at Cassie] “Right then. What did you want to ask me anyways?”

Lola: “Well, I… Nevermind.”

Val: “Come on, I would like to know what exactly you want to know.”

Lola: “Well, I was going to ask you if there was maybe… some sort of spell that you could use to… speed up the process a little?”

Val: “Oh, no, Princess…”

Lola: “I know, I know. It was just a thought.” Val: “I draw the line on spells like that for a reason.” Lola: “Yes, yes. I know. It’s not kind or fair for her. It’s cruel. When you start messing with other people’s minds you become no better than the vast majority of the prisoners in the dungeons. All those acts of cruelty that put them there in the first place…”

Val: “Well, it’s good that you know why it’s utterly fucked up to ask me to cast a spell like that on her.” Lola: “But truthfully, I really don’t know what else to do about her. She doesn’t seem to want to help herself. I just wish there was a way I could help her out even more, and I want that way to arrive soon.” Cassie: “Well, like my Mama used to say, Emora wasn’t built overnight. It’ll probably take a little more time before she really warms up to us. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.” Val: “Though I would argue there are ways we can make her more comfortable. Letting her have some sunshine rather than rotting in the dark all day could be good for her.”

Lola: [sighs] “I’ll consider it. I’m not sure how Mother and Father would feel about this though. I trust these laws. This kingdom, it simply wouldn’t be the beautiful, prosperous, vibrant place that it is if it weren’t for the structures we have. I know you consider yourself to be a bit of a radical, Val, but I do still trust in this system. And I think… I think I will still play by the rules, and I will abide by what I think my parents would want.”

Lunette: “... it’s time for lunch Princess. May we please be excused?”

Lola: “Oh, yes, yes. Of course. You’re all dismissed. Go out and enjoy your lunches.”

Val: “She’s scared.” Hazel: “Who?”

Val: “Princess Lola. I think she’s scared and sheltered. She’s scared of disobeying her parents and she’s scared to bring about real changes and she’s scared because she’s walking into something new and she’s scared that she’ll be out of her depth to handle it.”

Lunette: “But why would you say that?” Hazel: “And also, wanna trade fruit cups? I got cherries in mine.”

Val: “Fine. But to get to my point, I think the Princess is just really scared to make a mistake while her Father’s away. She wants to make sure the kingdom’s still up and running when he comes back from the war. She also really wants to honour her mother’s name and legacy. Princess Lola, as a person, really strikes me as a girl who doesn’t want to do anything wrong.” Lunette: “Well, yeah. But I don’t see what’s wrong with that. No one wants to do things wrong.”

Val: “That’s right. But the issue about being focused on not doing the wrong thing, at least to the degree that Princess Lola is doing, is that you end up forgetting to do the right thing in the process.”

Lunette: “I think the issue is that most people are worried about evil people though. We can try very hard to work hard and redeem the evil. But it has to be something they really want, you know?”

Val: “But that’s the issue isn’t it? Evil isn’t real.”

Lunette: “What? How could you not believe that evil is real, I don’t get it?”

Val: “Alright… let me see how I can explain it to you.” Hazel: “I could give it a go.” Val: “Go ahead.”

Hazel: “Well, you see, what Val’s talking about is that she doesn’t like the concept of evil. Like, there’s something nebulous and intangible that just causes people to do bad things like that.” Val: “Right. I think concepts like that distort the way people view the world. It’s like seeing the world through a filter. If you look at it through certain frameworks, it will make you see some things better than others, but you’re not going to see the whole truth. And the truth of the matter is that people don’t just do bad things for no reason.”

Lunette: “I guess… that makes some sense. But I don’t think it’s fair to throw evil out like that entirely. Evil’s something that happens to other people, isn’t it? That’s why we have to fight against it. It’s good for us to be able to call our enemies something. And anyways, some people do act evil. And we need a word to call them when they act evil, so that we can help them change from there.”

Hazel: “Ah, and I got some melon in this cup. Nice.”

Lunette: “Anyways, I’d been meaning to ask you about this for a while now, but how did you end up leaving your cult, Val? Alexis has talked about it, but I want to hear from you. What do you think caused you to change your mind about things the most?”

Val: “Hm… well, it’s a pretty complicated question. There were a lot of factors to it, really. A part of it was… holding onto a feeling of wrongness I got when I heard some of the things being taught to me. That feeling was really useful when I ultimately needed to deconstruct some of the ideas implanted in me growing up. But I think the biggest factor was that I could get challenged. I had access to a public library, and after a while, I read enough to really get my views challenged, and eventually gather enough courage to really walk away from it all.”

Lunette: [nods] “Hm.”

Val: “Of course, getting kicked out eventually for asking too many questions didn’t hurt. After that, I did have to leave regardless of how I was feeling about the whole ordeal. Haha.”

Hazel: “You know…”

Val: “Hm?” Hazel: “You’re not exactly an unbiased empty vessel either.”

Val: “I know that. But regardless, I still believe that these things I advocate for are the best course of action. Why wouldn’t I advocate for what I believe is right?”

Hazel: “I wouldn’t expect you to do anything less. I’m simply saying, just like how everyone has their experiences which led them to their own conclusions, you have yours. The millions of things you’ve been through and interactions you’ve had with other people have been crucial to shaping the views that you hold. You may think that your views and your ideas would be the best course of action, but to convince others, you’re really going to have to consider things from more eyes than you’re currently looking out of.”

Val: “Of course I know that Hazel.” Hazel: “So I don’t think it’ll do you much good if you tell the princess that she’s scared. In her mind, it’s not fear that’s stopping her. And it’ll be wise if you keep that in mind the next time you talk to her.”

Val: “I know, I know. She sees it as respect or honour or something in that ballpark. Look, Hazel, I love you and all, but could you please stop playing devil’s advocate all the time? Here you are telling me to stop thinking like I’m above everyone’s views. Yet I don’t think you’ve ever taken a solid stance on the matter. At least everyone is advocating for something and trying their best to live out their truths. What are you even doing?”

Hazel: “Living out my truth, Val. This is a complex matter; I will treat it as such.”

Val: “I… look, never mind. It’s been a long day for the two of us. We’ve been on this same project for three months, we’ve had zero progress. Let’s try to forget about it while we’re off of work. I have a date with Cassie later. You can go home and not think about it. Let’s… let’s deal with it in the morning.” Hazel: “... Right then. Enjoy your date later, by the way.”

Val: “Alright… see you tomorrow Hazel.”

It’s been months since they’ve captured me. Months since I’ve really seen anything in the outside world. Months since I’ve actually met another person who I could twist into something truly hideous. A long time since I had that pleasure.

And I suppose I deserve it.

I do miss it. The twisting of their flesh and bone as they morph into something completely inhumane. Something hideous. Transforming against their will and screaming out in terror and in pain as they change. Such a thing sounds like sweet music to my ear. A show of my skill and my power against someone. That would always be a thrill. It was exhilarating, putting the feeling of fear and horror into the hearts of others. Others who had probably never deserved this, but will be forced into their fates regardless.

It’s a sickening desire. But here I am.

But here I am.

They say it’s born out of something from my childhood. My memories of powerlessness fuel this desire to inflict similar suffering onto others. The doctors at this miserable prison are telling me to redirect the pain into more worthwhile pursuits. They are annoying, but manageable. Easy to drown out, and easy to forget once they leave. Hopefully someday, they will leave for good. And I can finally fester and rot within this dungeon, as was my fate from the start.

That would be a deserving end to my story, I think. But this… Princess. Dolores. This bitch. She just refuses to let me go. And every time she sends one of her stupid little minions down here to interrogate me and convince me to

It would be one thing if she tried to reach out to me once, and then drop me because of the inconvenience. But this woman just will not stop. Here she is, every day, sending down all her soldiers to come and try to talk me out of staying down here. She just would not give up. Not a single day has gone by where I did not have peace.

The worst part about it all though. The part that really sticks into my soul and grinds it and shreds it and cuts into the fabric of it. Is the fact that all of the soldiers she sends down are always so polite. There’s rarely a raised voice. No accusations thrown. They all look upon me with their neutral expressions - or worse, their smiles. And then there’s all the people who are actually… nice.

I can’t stand it. Every kind word feels like a slap in the face. Every generous, merciful offer feels like I am being stabbed in the gut. That is not a road a person like me is meant to walk down. And to show me that road, extend their hand like that. With all their innocent belief and their hopeful optimism. It feels like an insult. And the fact that they could not have possibly meant to insult me merely rubs salt in the festering, infected, bloody wound.

It’s something I can’t stand. Here these people are, asking if I want to join them for their cause, as if we were one and the same. They don’t know who I am. They’ve not seen the extremes of humanity the way I have, or sunken to the depths of horrific behaviour the way that I did. If they had only walked the roads that I have been on, maybe they would see that there is no future for the likes of me among them. Their kindness, their hopes, it would be such a waste. And that very same sweetness is what grates on me and stirs me up and sticks to my brain and boils my blood. If only they see. If only they knew me. They would know that asking the likes of me to come along with them would be a waste of breath.

And then maybe once they realise it, they would give up. And I could rot in peace in the murky depths of this godforsaken jail.

Lola: “It’s been six months now.” Umbra May: “Yes, happy eighteenth birthday and all. You’ve finally caught up with me in age.” Lola: “You’re eighteen too?” Umbra May: “No, I’m four. Don’t look so surprised, Dolores. People look more aged when they don’t spend all their days lounging in luxury in a castle.”

Lola: “Well, I’m trying to do a lot less of that.” Umbra May: “Hence why you’ve decided to take a break from all your wonderful birthday celebrations and come down here to talk to me, right? Well, good for you, Dolores. What a truly altruistic move. Hope you eat lots of cake up there for me.”

Lola: “You could come up too, you know. If you want. We could even bring a slice down for you.”

Umbra May: “And you miss the point again, Dolores.” Lola: “The point is you don’t have to be here anymore! You can always walk away from this!”

Umbra May: “And what makes you think that I would like to do that? Typical royal. All this assumption about what’s best for your people without truly considering what they would like. No wonder why other places are abolishing your kind.” Lola: “Well, what would you like then?” Umbra May: “To be left alone to starve in here.”

Lola: “Oh come on, I’m not doing that.” Umbra May: “Of course you’re not. You can’t. You’re the lovely princess of a beautiful kingdom. And you love this kingdom and its people so, so much.”

Lola: “That isn’t a bad thing, Umbra May.”

Umbra May: “Tell me, that witch friend of yours. Valerie, right? Insists that everyone calls her by a nickname? She doesn't like this kingdom very much right? Keeps talking about how she wants to set me free like a butterfly someone’s keeping in a jar?” Lola: “What does she have to do with any of this?”

Umbra May: “I tell you this because she’s a real radical, you know. You’re surely aware of your father’s actions abroad?”

Lola: “He’s out fighting against invaders, protecting our kingdom.” Umbra May: “Oh, so, that’s what he calls it. Listen to me Dolores, he’s not actually doing any of that. Your kingdom is a mighty force compared to a lot of the tribes and nations around it. What he’s doing right now is clearing out the land they live on so that the kingdom can continue to grow.” Lola: “What?” Umbra May: “It’s a noble goal to him. He’s got a lovely kingdom with its beautiful people to look after. Ever notice how you’ve not had a real famine or any real crises in your lifetime? How you never seem to run out of any sort of resource for all your extravagance? Do you ever realise that there’s a reason for that? Did you ever realise that there were people behind everything you own, behind your very birthday party right now?”

Lola: “...”

Umbra May: “Of course. He was a good general. That’s why you never had to ever think about any of those things. And of course, you love your father don’t you? Because he was just as good a father to you. Would hate to even do something that would upset him. Wouldn’t want to ruin this kingdom he helped build, now would you?”

Lola: “This… this can’t be true.” Umbra May: “But it is. And if you ask me, if you had any sense about this, I think you should walk away from it all just the same.”

Lola: “...” Umbra May: “Happy birthday, Dolores.”

***** Alexis: “So, you done Princess?”

Lola: “Y-yes Alexis. Thank you.”

Alexis: “Alright then. Your birthday party awaits. Ready to head up?”

Lola: “Just… just give me a moment please, Alexis. Before you assist me.” Alexis: “Very well.”

New Amsterdam Chapter 56

Daredevil stood broodingly on the roof, like a living gargoyle protecting his small corner of the city from those who would prey on it. Head bowed slightly to allow his ears to hear even the slightest of wrong-doing in the city beneath him.

“Yoo-hoo! Double D!” called Wade as he tumbled into place on the roof next to the masked vigilante. “How are you—urk!”

One of Daredevil’s hands closed around Wade’s throat. “Deadpool,” he said stoically.

Deadpool pushed him away and he allowed it to happen. “Man,” said Wade. “What’s with the grabby-grabby?”

{Rude. We should shoot him.}

[We’re not going to shoot him. We came for his help, remember?]

{If you’d just let us kill the bastard—}

Daredevil sighed. “What do you want?” he demanded tersely.

“Oh. I see. Brooding and morose. Well, I didn’t come—heh heh—to talk to the masked Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, I came to talk to the Badass Blind Lawyer.”

“A lawyer.” Wade was certain that if Daredevil’s mask was emotive—or had, you know, eyes—the man would be rolling them. “Why do you need a lawyer?”

“It’s not for me!” protested Wade. “It’s for my boyfriend! Well, I think he’s still my boyfriend? He hasn’t broken up with me yet, and he needs a lawyer.” Wade paused. “And, uh, I’d appreciate it if you could pretend to be taking the case pro bono. I’ll pay you,” Wade added quickly, “but he gets a little—finicky about that sort of thing.”

“You—have a boyfriend.”

“Aw, and he’s the sweetest thing!”

[He might not still be your boyfriend. You did kidnap him.]

“I had to! He would die otherwise!”

“Is that what you need a lawyer for?” asked Daredevil.

{Please. As if we’d need help with that.}

[Given that your plan was to kidnap the hot boyfriend who loved us, yeah. We need help.]

“I can hear your curiosity,” taunted Wade in a sing-song voice. “But no. We’ve got it covered.”

[We do not, you costumed ass!]

“So what do you—your boyfriend, need a lawyer for?”

“I think his landlord is pulling some shady, and I mean super shady, Shady Pines, shit with his lease.”

“That’s—surprisingly appropriate,” said Daredevil slowly. “I’ll look into it tomorrow.”

“Thanks, mi amigo!”

“Now go away. I have things to take care of.”

“Things? What things? Maybe I can help?”

[Maybe you can make it worse.]

“You don’t know that! Neither of us know what’s going on yet!”

Daredevil sighed. “This gang is having a meeting with a new player. I need to see,” the vigilante continued over Deadpool’s giggles, “if it’s something I’m going to have to interfere with.”

“Well, give me the down-lo on the low-down, and maybe I can help.”

“Can you shut up?” demanded Daredevil. He took a deep, slow breath.

{Wonder if that helps him calm down?}

“Deadpool,” said Daredevil slowly, carefully. “I need to go in stealthy. I do not want them knowing I’m there.”

“No problem,” Wade drawled. “Let’s go.” Daredevil glared at him, but turned to lead the way.

[He’s probably realized that fighting you over this will be loud enough to alert the people he’s trying not to alert.]

{Be vewy vewy quiet. We’ah hunting Dahdevil.}

[Shut up!]

“Shut up!” hissed Daredevil, alerting Wade to the fact that he was humming the Ride of the Valkyries under his breath.

“Sorry,” hissed Wade as they snuck into the abandoned theatre. Well, abandoned by the officials, anyway. Judging from the clutter below, it seemed that squatters had moved in. Judging from the tagging on the walls, these were gangs.

[Odd. Why isn’t the outside of the building marked?]

That—was a good question. Wade watched carefully. There were several gang members lounging on what used to be a stage while even more hid in the shadows on either side of the stage.

{Look! They’re wearing the red scarves as belts!}

They were. Wade silently swung around Daredevil to get a better look. The one in the center of the stage was clearly the leader and even though he was lounging in an oversized beanbag chair, Wade could tell he was tense. They all were. Whoever this “other player” was, they were on edge.

Footsteps alerted Wade to the new arrival and he turned as a teen walked confidently towards the stage, huge wings tucked close to her back.

{Isn’t that the girl we raised in another reality?}

[You mean, ‘Isn’t that the girl Peter raised in another reality.’ I seriously doubt she’d still be alive if we raised her.]

The teen on the chair began a slow clap as she approached and she stopped just before the stage, still mostly shrouded in shadows. “If it isn’t our very own interferer,” the teen said as he heaved himself out of his chair. His hands shot into his pockets and Wade could see the handles of guns in them.

[She’ll be fine. Remember, she heals faster than we do.]

“Interferer?” drawled the girl. “That’s rich, considering what you’ve been doing.”

What was she talking about?

[If you shut up and listen, we might find out.]

“Not something we’ve been able to do. And we didn’t attack your little sister again.”

{She has a little sister?}

The girl spread her arms wide. “They’re all my little brothers and sisters,” she said before settling her hands over her hips.

Wade was many things. He was flaky, he was insane, he didn’t have a good grasp (or any grasp, really) on social norms. But he knew a perfectly balanced fighting stance when he saw it.

[Maybe we did raise her.]

“Oh, they are? Then where were you when we started?”

“Not here; that’s for sure. You never would have gotten as far as you did.”

“Do you even know what we’re doing?”

“Do you?”

The banter was light, almost playful. The looks and body language were anything but. Wade stared, fascinated by the scene in front of him. The boy had the high ground (literally), but it was clear the girl was in charge. How had Daredevil put it? The girl was a player.

But—when had that happened? As far as he knew, she’d been in town for less than two weeks. How had she gotten mixed up in this mess, whatever it was?

“I know about the demon,” said the boy as he leaned forwards. Wade shifted. He recognized that tone of voice; it was the same one those religious freaks who’d tortured mutant kids had used. “I saw it with my own eyes.”

“And it was tall, had eight legs, six eyes, and huge fangs,” replied the girl. She sounded—bored, of all things. “And you saw it transform right in front of your eyes, from a normal person you never would have looked twice at if you passed them in the street.”

[That was specific.]

The boy faltered and the girl nodded. “Yeah; I’ve seen it all before. You’re not the first to be roped into this, but I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure you are the last.” Even from the catwalks Wade could see the amber eyes glitter. “I have my own problems with that one.”

“Oh? And what about the seal?”

The girl scoffed and rolled her eyes. “There is no seal,” she told him firmly. “There never was a seal. You’re being used to create a horde of monstrous minions.”

“Better to walk at the Devil’s side than be in his way,” said the boy, recovering remarkably.

The girl sighed. “I adore how naive you are,” she told him. “I really do.” She paced a step forward. “Those things have been changed. Those things are being controlled by a power-hungry psychopath. Despite all of this—they still need to eat. What do you think they eat?” Another step forwards. “What do you think they’ll eat when that one no longer needs you?”

The boy’s eyes narrowed. “You’re playing with fire,” he told her, voice shaking. She’d clearly said something that hit him hard—but he wasn’t willing to back down.

“Oh, are you referring to the ten armed people you have waiting in the wings? Yeah,” she continued as he broke out into a sweat, “I hate to break it to you, but you’re toddlers attacking a tank. It doesn’t matter how many of you there are, I’m a tank. You can’t hurt me.”

The boy, despite being on the stage and using the height to tower over the girl, took a step back. There was something in that flat tone of voice, something with that subtle hint of exasperation, that showed she was telling nothing but the truth.

“We can try,” the boy said as he pulled out a gun. He shot her.

Daredevil tensed and leaned for a jump down, but Wade stuck out a hand to stop him. He knew the girl would be all right. She had to be—even if she’d grown up in another version of his world, she was raised by him and she wouldn't have survived if a mere bullet could kill her.

The bullet hit the pink leotard, sank inwards—and then bounced back as the girl rounded back out to normal dimensions around where the bullet had been. “This is armor you idiot,” she said as she reached out and caught the bullet. She lined it up on the palm of one hand before flicking it with the other. The bullet grazed the cheek of the boy in front of her—exactly as it would have if she’d shot it from a gun. Impressive, considering it was flattened out of all recognition from the impact with her chest.

“Just to warn you,” the girl said, “I have perfect aim. I didn’t want to kill you.” She gently rubbed at her chest through the material of her leotard and grimaced. “That is changing quickly,” she muttered.

Wade drew himself up to his full height. “You can’t kill these kids!” he announced in his deep, SuperheroTM voice before dropping down in full Superhero landing style.

“That,” commented the girl dryly as he stood up, “is so bad for your knees.”

“I know, right?” said Wade. “But everyone does it!”

“To be fair, most superheroes don’t live long enough for the repeated damage to be an issue,” the girl responded.

“Eek! Dark humor; me likey!” He gave the girl a high five before clearing his throat and donning the voice again. “Spiderman will be pissed if you kill these children.”

She sighed and rolled her eyes and chanted the next part in time with him. “Because with great power comes great responsibility.” She dipped her head for a moment and then looked at Wade again. “Yeah,” she said. “Heard that one a lot.”

He smirked. “I bet you have.” He turned to the boys who were staring at him. They all knew who Deadpool was, and they were hesitating to engage.

“Remember Deadpool,” the girl said impishly, “Spiderman will be pissed if you kill these children.”

[Forget the children. Spiderman’s going to be pissed about Peter.]

{But Peter isn’t pissed!]

“Stay with witnesses,” the girl said grimly. “Hopefully, the army isn’t too big yet.” She turned, gently bumped her fist against Wade’s shoulder and started to walk out. She paused. “I didn’t make a mess in your turf Daredevil,” she said firmly with a wave to the vigilante before continuing out.

“Daredevil?” asked the boy.

The vigilante dropped behind the boy, landing almost silently on the stage. “Yes,” he hissed.

LITTLE KNOWN X-MEN VILLAINS--- THE RAVENS! A hidden race of psychic vampires that walks among humankind!

The Ravens are a group of vampire-like beings who appear in a story in X-Factor #54 and X-Factor #56-58. Their story stars Archangel, whom they try to make into one of their numbers. Like a lot of Marvel vampires, Ravens don’t drink blood (I think there was a Comics Code law against it for awhile or something, which is why so many Marvel vampires or vampire-like beings are energy-suckers instead?) but they do call themselves “vampires” as well as Ravens, as do others, and they have all the same other tropes---they live forever unless killed and the only means of death seems to be beheading or if they fail to keep their number at 24 through converting someone else if one is killed. They can’t be photographed, nor captured on film, and are weaker in sunlight. They can fly or levitate, and they can teleport by transforming into energy or mist (their true form) before reforming in their human shape elsewhere. They have super-strength that comes from the lives of all those that they have consumed, as the process adds the victims strength to their own. As for for they feed on instead of blood, they’re a very specific sort of energy vampire. They feed on the painful memories of human beings, seeking out people who are suffering great mental/emotional anguish from the bad things that happened in their lives, and sucking it out of them. Which would sound great if not for the fact that it KILLS the person and leaves nothing but a skeleton! They can do it partway, though---Azure, for instance, takes the memories from a businessman to get info on the stock market to fund his decadent lifestyle, which doesn’t kill the man but merely gives him a heart attack. The feeding process is traumatic; a mere touch from one was described by Beast as drawing up some of his worst memories as well as “like my soul was burning, like it was draining away into her hands” In order to find the best prey, Ravens can sense pain in others, sensing both a person’s suffering and their strength in their aura. It’s for this reason that Crimson, one of their number, is attracted to Archangel---she wanted a meal of horrible suffering, as well as seeking a warrior’s soul, for she had tired of feeding on the homeless and destitute. Archangel, who was going mad due to hallucinogens he had been exposed to, was reliving the memories of his torment at Apocalypse’s hand as well as other traumas, and this is what made her want to feed on him. But Crimson’s plans go beyond merely devouring Archangel; she manipulates another Raven, Azure, into going after him as a competition. Archangel kills Azure, just as Crimson hoped, which means. . . .the circle is broken. Another way that Ravens differ from traditional vampires is that, as previously mentioned, only 24 of them exist at any time. No more, no less. They spread out over the globe, but concentrate in major cities. There are six in New York alone, and they’re the named ones who star in this story. If one Raven is killed, as mentioned, they’ve got 24 hours to make a new one. And Crimson argues successfully to the others that Archangel should be the new one, that he proved his power and worth by killing Azure. In reality, her plan is that once Archangel is a Raven too, she’s going to use him to kill the others, and then drain him for herself, believing that his pain energy would give her the power to survive despite all the other Ravens dying. Naturally, this did NOT go as planned. Archangel beheaded her with his wings just as he had Azure, and when Cobalt’s head was crushed in the fight with X-Factor, the rest of the Ravens went up in literal smoke due to the circle being shattered beyond repair from too many members dying: “Ravens,-- creatures seemingly of flesh and blood-- implode, dissolve into their true form of shrieking, noxious mist” that shoots up out of the theatre roof en masse and dissipates on the wind. As a note, the ones in this tale are all named after colors (Crimson, Cerise, Cobalt, Azure) or gems (Ruby, Beryl, Coral). The names are apparently unisex; Cerise and Beryl are used as names for women by humans, but the Ravens who bear those names are male. They also all hate each other, and are extremely petty, jealous, and competitive with one another. And yet, their hatred binds them together, and they will hang out in little packs to hunt with each other, as well as engage in little challenges with each other, such as pursuing the same prey, to pass the ennui of eternity. And killing each other isn’t an option, for previously mentioned reasons. As is common in vampire media, there’s an air of pseudo-bisexuality/homoeroticism/etc in the way that they talk about their prey, because the male Ravens will say things like “he’s not my type at all” or talk about how they wish they could “have” Archangel right now and things like that, and like. . . obviously they are talking about feeding on his energy, but the phrasing out of context sounds sexual if you don’t know that. The “Lesbian Vampire” trope actually does get averted for the female Ravens, but that’s probably just because this story happens to focus on a male target. And Crimson herself, despite her appearance of being the “seducer” type vampire lady, doesn’t really do that with Archangel---she never flirts with him or rubs on him or anything, nor ever seems like she’s actually attracted to anything but Archangel’s power and energy, and I like that. That said, her dialogue is fantastically campy AND vampy, saying/thinking things like “I will use his fascination for things dark and deadly to bind him to me” But what I like most of all about them is, like so many vampires, they are DRAMATIC AS FUCK. They kidnap Archangel to make him one of them in a dark ritual and they do it in an abandoned, decaying theatre and STRAP HIM TO AN UPSIDE-DOWN ANKH while they chant in ancient long-dead languages and they drag Charlotte Jones towards him to be a human sacrifice as his first victim AN UPSIDE DOWN ANKH IN A DECAYING THEATRE Like. How Goth can you get? I love it. I love them. Ridiculous. I think the Ravens are really cool, and I like to think that the ones NOT involved in this story are still out there, despite the implication that the deaths of this bunch caused the circle to “shatter beyond repair” and that the others around the globe went up in literal smoke too. I like to think they didn’t though, that they made new Ravens, and twenty-four of them are out there still. I’ve also got a wild headcanon that they might be an offshoot of mutantkind descended from Selene. They’re not just energy vampires like her, they specifically take the memories of their prey, and part of Selene’s energy vampirism was that she too had the remember the entire life of those she absorbed. It doesn’t seem too wild to me to think that the first Ravens might have been her children or descendants, ancient as they are implied to be, and evolved into these completely new creatures over the long centuries who could convert others into their kind. We’ve actually seen that before---Bishop once stated that in his future there were a group called the Emplates, who resembled Emplate (another vampire-like mutant) and preyed on mutants. Since later it was discovered that Emplate can "infect" another individual with his powers, it makes sense that Emplate would be the progenitor of the group from Bishop's timeline. So, maybe it’s the same deal with Selene and the Ravens. To be clear, no connection in canon is ever made between the two, and the Ravens are NOT portrayed as being mutants or related to mutants in any way, but a race unto themselves, I just couldn’t help being reminded of Selene by them, both in how they feed and a lot of the things they say, the cruel and petty personalities they all have, the way they look at mankind, their ancient nature, etc. And like...I think it would make sense! Also:

Bobby: hey girlfriend, what is my type again? of woman? that I like? Opal: It’s me, that’s why we are together, see how that makes sense? Bobby: yes it does that is why I am with you, a woman, who I like I am starting to see why Bendis picked him to be The Gay One

POV: Y/N is surprised that it is an indispensable piece for the human race. Her family will do everything possible to keep her hidden and safe…

Spider opens his eyes…he was on an abandoned rock, he had several bruises on his body. When he fell from the ilu he had hit his head. Slowly he gets up and rubs his eyes. Trying to remember… until everything that happened comes to his mind. "Y/N, Y/N, Y/N!!!" He starts screaming…he stands up and tries to see something in the distance of the ocean. But nothing…he needs to go tell the others. But how, he had no way to get there. He wasn't a navi and he wasn't like you. Out of nowhere, he sees how your ilu, comes closer and looks at him. "Hì'i … I need you to take me home. Y/N is in danger" says spider, speaking calmly so the creature doesn't panic. Your ilu settles sideways and looks at spider, she is inviting him to come up. Spider couldn't believe it, Hì'i understood. This has to be eywa, she was helping him. He quickly climbed in and began the ride back to the village.

You hadn't been in the boat that long, but the adrenaline was already down…and the movements he was making were making you dizzy. Quaritch was next to you, and noticed how you were closing your eyes. "Hey, hey honey…don't close your eyes. I have to take you back to the base" Quaritch tried to get you back in the seat. But it was too late, your eyes had closed. "Shit…" complained Quaritch, you had passed out. "hey lyle, help me out here… we need to get her comfortable." Lyle came over and helped get you settled. He watched as Quaritch, carefully adjusted your head. "Boss… careful, you look very…" Quaritch gave him a fulminating look. Lyle took the hint and continued doing his job. Quaritch sat down next to you, and straightened up. He had to concentrate…but something in him told him this was wrong. He had to get it out of his head…he had a mission, and he had to accomplish it. That's what Miles Quaritch would do. That's what he would do, right?

Meanwhile, neytiri and Jake had returned from the ride they were taking to tuk. They happily walked into the marui, they were making some jokes. When they entered, all their children were there, but neytiri noticed that you and spider were present. "where is y/n?" she asks as she starts looking for breakfast things, " she went out for a walk with spider, you know they were upset yesterday. I think they're making up." Says loak, who was quietly lying in a hammock.

Neteyam approached his parents, he had to tell them what you and he decided the night before. He was excited, but he didn't know how his parents would react. It's not like they didn't know what was going on between you and Neteyam, but telling them in person scared him. "mom, dad… can I talk to you? Well… to the whole family." Neteyam said, as he sat down on the floor, kiri and tuk followed him. And loak shifted his gaze to his brother, but without leaving the hammock. Jake and neytiri accompanied them, they gave each other a few looks before sitting down on the ground. "Well… I wanted y/n to be here… but I know she'll be here soon. But I can't stand the feeling…" Neteyam takes a deep breath. Everyone is looking at him very intently. "Y/N and I….are a mate. We have bonded before eywa… and I hope you all will accept our relationship" neteyam said, quickly and confidently. His first instinct was to look at his mother's face. Neytiri was silent, she had no expression on her face, she didn't know what to say. "Well…I knew that already, with how cuddly you two have been lately mmm it was obvious" loak said, as he settled into the hammock and continued sleeping. Kiri got up and hugged her big brother. "I'm so happy!!! it's about time!!!" tuk is also hugging his brother. " yes, yes yes yes" tuk hums as neteyam hugs his sisters back." Son…" said Jake as he stands up to approach neteyam. Jake knelt down in front of him, put his hands on his shoulders and smiled. "Congratulations… but we already knew that" neteyam's face went blank, how come they already knew that. Neytiri laughed a little and talked." You think we haven't noticed your attitudes… or how you and y/n share matching items of clothing. Or how y/n have your scent" neytiri teases. "We can smell it a mile away, you need to calm down" loak complains from a distance. Neteyam smiles, and looks at his mother. "I am happy with you…I want you to take care of each other and know that your relationship is not common, but not impossible. I love you both and I will always be here to take care of you." Neytiri hugs neteyam, the embrace is warm and welcoming. "when y/n and spider arrive… let's celebrate!!!" kiri says as she thinks about what gift she was going to give you. It was a tradition, to give something to the new partner of some family member, well…you weren't new to the family. But it was the perfect excuse to make you a new top.

Neteyam started playing with tuk and kiri looking for things to prepare your gift. "This is very strange, she doesn't usually take this long" says Jake. "I'm sure they're on their way" said neteyam, until he sees spider walk in to marui very agitated, with teary eyes." THEY'VE GOT HER, THEY'VE TAKEN HER!!!" shouts spider." WHO?" Jake approaches the boy, grabbing him by the shoulders. Everyone present stood up from their places to approach spider. " THEY…THE SOLDIERS…HAVE HER!!!!" spider was still crying. " Spider what are you saying?" neteyam approaches the boy. His heart wants to burst out of his chest…his breathing becomes difficult. " THEY ATTACKED US…AND TOOK HER AWAY IN A BOAT. I SWEAR I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING!!!" Screams spider…the poor boy doesn't know what to do, he has all of y/n's relatives surrounding him, and of course he was scared, they were twice the size of him.

Neytiri feels like she was going to faint, as her eyes start to fill with tears. She falls to the ground and starts screaming." NO, NO, NO… MY LITTLE ONE, NO" Jake comes over to reassure her, he too was in a state of shook. "Jake, they took her…they took my little girl" neytiri screams. All these years taking care of you like her greatest treasure, defending you from others…from their insults, from their indifferent treatment. And now she had taken you away. She couldn't stand it. Jake didn't know what to do… kiri and tuk were still questioning spider, who was crying and trying to explain what had happened. While loak was on the other side of his mother trying to get her to calm down. Jake could see loak's tears running down his cheeks as he tried to be strong for his mother. And neteyam…wait, where was neteyam?

Neteyam was already on his way to his ilu, his eyes were pure hatred and frustration. In his hands he carried his bow. They had captured his mate, he wasn't going to let them get away with it. He was about to climb onto his ilu, until he felt someone tugging on his arm. When he turned around it was his father." What the hell are you doing" yells jake, as he tries to pull his son to him. "I'm going to rescue her!!!! That's what I'm going to do" Jake holds Neteyam by the shoulders. "Listen to me…I'm sure those guys, they're already at the base. They're already in the woods, you know what will happen to you if you go there now?" neteyam turns away from his father. "I don't care, we have to go look for her !!!!" shouts neteyam, jake had never seen him like this. Neteyam always tries to control his anger, but now it was impossible. "son look at me" jake is holding neteyam's face. He can see tears welling up in his eyes, jake knows how he feels, he feels incompetent, guilty, upset. "we're going to get her i promise" jake speaks, while he himself can't keep his feelings to himself. They had kidnapped one of his daughters, but they had to act smart. "but dad… they're going to hurt her" neteyam complains. "Let's call norm and the other guys. We need a plan." Jake wipes the tears from neteyam's face, and they welcome him into their arms. "We're going to get her… I promise. You and the Family." If it were up to Jake, he'd be flying full speed ahead in his ikran, get to the base…rip the heads off of anything that got in his way and take you back home. But I knew that was suicide… he had to have a plan.

AREA 12, northeast of pandora:

You opened your eyes slowly, wow… your head was spinning. You feel like your head is going to explode, you slowly sit up, and feel the softness under your hands. Your eyes are still adjusting to the new clarity, but as you look down you see that you are on some kind of bed. You look up startled, and see a white room, there are only several pieces of furniture. The bed, a closet, a desk and some small lamps. You knew what these things were, since you had slept over in norm and max's labs when you were little. But this room was strange…there was a window…in which you could see the flora of pandora…it was beautiful. As you analyze the room you see how on the right side there is a door. You run towards it, but fall to the floor. You are very weak. And that's where all your memories come back.

You remember how you fell into the sea, how you saw spider floating unconscious, how they grabbed you by your braid and how they took you away in that disgusting boat. And those men, you remember them too. You stand up a little and crawl to the edge of the bed. You hug your knees and can't help but cry. You were scared…where was everybody. where was neytiri? jake? They always rescued you. Where was neteyam? They didn't know where you were, and if spider was dead…would he be okay? You had so many questions in your head. You wanted to go home.

The door to the room opened, you looked up to see him. It was that man, you knew who he was. Your father had told you about him, and how they had their conflicts. And how he tried to kill him. Besides, you still remembered the first time he tried to kidnap you in the forest. The man came a little closer to you. "Hello…pretty" I said Quaritch." Don't call me pretty" you affirm, and move a little further away from him. "oh wow…you can speak English." Quaritch doesn't give up and continues to slowly move closer. "of course you idiot…or wait, I forgot. you guys think you're the only beings with intellect?" you say as you shift your gaze.

"Wow, I didn't know you had that temper…I like it" Quaritch sits down in a chair that is about 5 feet or so away from your bed. "hey, I'm not here to hurt you…just" you interrupt him." no? then what did you kidnap me for?" you challenge him, as you stand up a little, forgetting how weak you were, and fall back down to the floor. "Hey calm down… I see that you are weak. And for your information it wasn't me who did that." I said Quaritch. "Then who?" you ask. "The RDA, they sent me to find you. You're important y/n" say Quaritch, as he gets up from his seat and walks over to a small table right next to the closet, and starts to prepare a glass of water. "Important? To what or who?" you want to know what the hell you were doing here and what they wanted from you.

Quaritch approaches and offers you the glass of water, you refuse to take it." Hey…. I'm not trying to poison you. I swear" he raises his right hand, and drinks from the other glass of water. You analyze the scene and see that nothing has happened to him. You decide to take the glass, you were dying of thirst. You drink the water as if there is no tomorrow. "Wow…someone was thirsty" Quaritch sneers and kneels down right in front of you. "you are the salvation of the human race, with your DNA it will be possible to make mutations in humans, thus allowing them to breathe and live here in pandora. A whole new race would be created." Said the man. "But why don't you create others like me and leave me alone?" you place the glass next to you. "honey… you are one of a kind. There is no other like you… not here in Pandora, not in any other area of space." Quaritch looks you in the eye, the voice he is using makes your hair stand on end. You couldn't deny that this man was intimidating. "You're doing this to attract my father, aren't you?" you ask him dryly, while you don't take your eyes off him. "Mmm no, that blue monkey doesn't interest me anymore. I have other plans." said Quaritch, as he stands up. To be honest he had lost interest in looking for Jake a long time ago. He didn't even know what he was doing in this place anymore.

"You have to be grateful, little one," said Quaritch, as he opened the door to the room. "Why?" you ask. "If it wasn't for me, you'd be in a cold, filthy metal cage. So …you're welcome" he turns his gaze, gives you a smile and starts to walk out. "oh, by the way, you need to put on the clothes over there" he points to a bundle of clothes lying next to the bed. "That's your new uniform, that door on the left is the bathroom, you can do your business there. You have water on that table and later someone will bring you food" He walks out of the room leaving you alone. You looked at where the clothes were. You didn't know what this kind of cloth was. You had never used anything like this before, you were used to wearing your navi female clothes. This was weird…you examine it for a while. But you start to feel cold…maybe he was right. Besides, your father had told you that it was always better to go with the flow, if you were vulnerable, so you would wear these clothes. You didn't want them to get upset with you and hurt you for not obeying.

You get up from the floor and start to take off your clothes. You put on the new clothes, wow they were so different, they felt different. You didn't like it, but it gave you warmth. You were wearing a matching style of sweater and pants. Gray color. And you noticed how on the chest on the right side there was a label that said "experiment 56". Out of nowhere you got nauseous, and dizzy. You ran to the bathroom, and threw up in some kind of bucket. You opened a lever so that water came out and cleaned everything. This must be the sink, you tell yourself. You wipe your face and go back to bed. You lay on your side and lay there waiting for something to happen. You couldn't help but cry, you missed your family.

Quaritch was watching everything from the cameras in the security area. It was an exclusive room, where there were about 6 cameras recording everything in your room. "You just saw that girl naked," says Lyle as he walks in and sits in one of the chairs. "No, I just logged in… I'm not depraved like you" miles keeps looking at the screens, while watching you wipe your face. I could tell you were in pain. "I don't know, what's wrong with you… I feel like something in you has changed. What's going on here?" Lyle taps his boss on the head, the two of them had that confidence. Not everyone could touch Colonel Quaritch, but Lyle gave himself that freedom. "you wouldn't understand lyle" said miles, as he turns his face to look at his friend. "You feel like you're not you, don't you?" says lyle as he settles further into the seat. "You feel like you're not that person, you know… we have their memories, but you feel like they're intruders." Quaritch looks at his friend. "that's true" Miles states, lyle reaches over and places a hand on his friend's shoulder." But we have a mission, and the orders are clear. You've already done a lot for that girl…she's comfortable and safe in a room. The rest…will be the responsibility of the scientists" said lyle getting up and walking out of the room. Miles knew those lab rats weren't exactly nice. They didn't see you as an ordinary human, but as a thing to be tested. He had already been through it, when he first got his avatar body, and it wasn't a very pleasant experience, so he decided that he would take care of you. Or so his "other self" inside him decided.

Meanwhile in the Metkayina village….

Neytiri was sitting right on the edge of the entrance to the marui, contemplating the view. She hoped you would come back. You always did… her memories were lost to that moment, where you were lost in the forest for 2 days. You were only 6 years old, she remembers the feeling she felt at that moment. She and Jake went looking everywhere for you and nothing. Norm and the others helped in the rescue. Mo'at was trying to comfort Neytiri, telling her that you were a brave, strong and smart girl. That she would come back. "daughter mine…. y/n is like the river, it runs away…it flows, but it always returns to its home the ocean…it will come back to you" and so it did…neytiri was looking for some things in the forest, preparing to search for you again. Until she felt someone hug her leg, she looked down and saw her cute little girl. Her eyes were teary, but she was smiling. "mom…I got lost" neytiri held her in her arms and promised never to let go. But this was not the case.

Neteyam accompanied her, she hugged him. Neytiri could feel neteyam's tears fall into her arms. Knowing that her children were suffering was killing her. She turned back, and saw a desperate Jake, trying to communicate with Norm. She knew he was at the point of collapse. Kiri and tuk were sitting looking at their father and spider, and loak… he was out for a walk. Neytiri knew it was to cry alone. She looked at neteyam one more time, stroked his head. "calm love…the river always returns to its home, to the ocean" she could hear neteyam sobbing louder. She didn't want to think how you were, she had the feeling that you were suffering.

" norm, can you hear me!!!!" jake tries to move to find the signal. Spider holds the wires, making a kind of antenna. "yes jake, I hear you clear. What's going on?" norm says on the other end of the comlink. "they have y/n, they kidnapped her. You have to come here, you have to help me find her" norm couldn't believe what he was hearing. "I'M GOING THERE !!!! GIVE ME 1 HOUR" norm runs, to tell the others and start packing up and getting the ship ready. Jake dropped the device that looked like a portable phone, collapsed on the floor, and couldn't help but cry. What had he done wrong, kiri came over and hugged him, tuk went with her. Spider watched the scene, jake invited him into the hug. Spider joined him. "It's not your fault kid… it's not your fault" says jake. As spider looks at him. And then hugs him tighter.

Loak was walking on the beach, collecting shells for your collection. He decided that when you came back you would have new shells to organize. Tsireya came over, by now everyone in the village had heard what was going on. "loak… are you ok?" tsireya put her hand on the boy's man, he was on the ground looking for corals. She could hear him crying, she knelt down and hugged him. "They're going to find her, I promise" loak turns and hugs her. The moment was interrupted when he hears some kind of ship arriving off the coast of the village. Norm had arrived faster than he said. Loak said goodbye to tsireya and ran towards the marui.

Jake ran, towards Norm. These two hugged… it was a long hug, it was like a "I'm here brother, I'm going to help you" Norm looked at Jake and said "come on …. I've got the stuff". Jake led him to the marui, norm went inside and started to get his stuff out. Max accompanied them. Everyone in the family watched as Norm tried to locate a few things." Ok, spider you have to tell me where they were last" spider told norm everything, neteyam listened attentively. "It hurts…because we were making passes" said spider as he looked down. Not until he feels someone grab him by the throat and his body is lifted off the ground. " you fucker…if you weren't so nosy" neteyam had the boy in his hands. "NETEYAM" shouts neytiri, while jake tries to make neteyam let go of the boy. Kiri was trying to remove his brother's hands from spider's neck. Spider was losing his breath. " Wait…" he couldn't speak, jake and norm were able to make neteyam let go of spider, he fell to the floor. "are you crazy…what's wrong with you?" yells kiri to neteyam, neteyam was already walking back to where the boy was, until loak stops him. "ENOUGH, STOP IT!" shouts neytiri with tuk in her arms, the poor girl was scared. "This is no one's fault…let's calm down." Norm states. Kiri tries to help spider, this one had a big mark on her neck. While neteyam sat on the other side of the marui. The atmosphere was calming down, but it still felt tense.

"Jake… this is something almost impossible. We don't know where they went, I bet they went to base 12. The one near our camp, the one in the mountains" norm looks at jake worried. "I think the right thing to do is to go back and investigate from there, it's useless here" Norm waits for an answer from his friend. Jake looks at his family, they have all listened. "let's go, what we're waiting!!!" says neteyam. Jake looks at the others, they all approved the decision. "well so be it…sully we will go home." Jake announced, as everyone got up to prepare everything for the return. Jake decided that they would all go back in norm's ship, it was fast. Neytiri didn't like the idea, but agreed.

Before leaving Ronal approached the family. "I hope you find the girl… you know you will always be welcome here, this is your home" said Ronal as he handed her something she had prepared for you. You had won ronal's affection, she didn't want to show it, but she had cried a little. You were a wonderful girl. Neytiri wiped her face and thanked her for the gesture. "We'll be back very soon, and thanks for everything" Jake affirms. "Anything… count on us" Tonowari gives him a handshake. And lets them go. Jake knows this was going to be hard, and that it was highly unlikely they would find you easily, but he had to try.

It was already dark, you had slept all afternoon… when you awoke you saw how the view to the window had darkened. You cringed a little. You hoped this was all a dream. But no… you were alone in a room that was too cold for your taste. You walked over to the table where there was water and began to pour yourself some, your stomach growling. You hadn't eaten anything all day. wow, there's nothing to eat here. you look around and there's nothing. You sit down on a chair, and look outside. Are they looking for you? Or did they just decide to leave you here? You were asking these questions to yourself, until the door opened. And you saw a Quaritch walk in with a plate in his hands.

"I'm bringing dinner!!!" he said cheerfully and with a smile on his face. "And why do you have to bring it yourself?" you ask, as you settle into the seat. "Well… if you want someone else to bring them I'll tell them, but I promise they won't be this nice." He speaks as he places the plate on the table. You look at the food, it was kind of strange to you. The only thing you could recognize was a fruit you liked. But the rest was unknown to you. "I don't know if you'll like this… but it's some chicken, vegetables, some grains…" says Quaritch, while you let out a giggle. He looks at you curiously. "This looks disgusting." You say matter-of-factly. You were afraid this would backfire on you, but again you analyze the food. "here use this fork" you take the fork and look at the man. "I know what's dumb!!!" you shift your gaze, and play with the food. Miles stares at you as you move some things around and taste others. He gets a laugh, as you taste some and make disgusted faces. Until you taste the chicken. "mmm this doesn't taste so bad" you say as you take another bite. You are pretty sure you are eating this, because you are about to starve to death. "I was informed that your tests start tomorrow" says miles, you look at him confused." What tests?" you take another piece of chicken and eat it. "I imagine it will be some blood and stuff" your memory takes you back to all the times norm took blood from you." Oh noooo, I'm not going to do that" you say as you drop the fork on the plate. "hey relax, you have to do it…if you don't they will make you. I recommend you cooperate." Miles comments as he again falls silent.

You finish eating, and miles gets up and takes the plate. He walks to the door. "Are you coming to get me?" you ask a little shyly… you didn't trust him. But at least he hadn't treated you badly since you got here. "Well… if that's what you want. Yes" miles looks at you with a raised eyebrow. "It's okay" you say as you settle into your bed." It's okay, get some rest little one." Quaritch leaves the room, and you get more comfortable on the mattress. You were so tired, your eyes closed on their own.

The next day, you wake up when you feel a hand moving you, you turn over and open your eyes. "Hey little one … it's time to get up." Miles says, you sit up in bed. You were all asleep. And wow, you weren't ringing, you watch as Quaritch is arranging something on the table. You get out of bed and walk to the bathroom. This bathroom thing wasn't your thing, you never liked it…it was your non-preferred thing in norm's lab, but you knew how it worked. You looked in the mirror, saw how messy your hair was and noticed the little dots you had on your face. This is what neteyam meant when he said you glowed in the dark too, you smiled to yourself. You missed him so much. A voice pulled you out of your thoughts. "y/n we have 10 minutes. Let's go!!!" shouted Miles from outside. You finish using the bathroom and try to fix your hair, as your braids are in disarray. You decide to undo them, leaving your hair loose. And you make a few small braids on the sides of your face. You had to do something for you, otherwise you were going to die of sadness. You were missing Kiri, she always does your hair. You come out of the bathroom and Quaritch looks at you in surprise.

His tail is wagging from side to side. You notice his behavior, and chuckle to yourself. "You look very pretty." He says as he clears his throat and walks you out. "listen little one…" miles speaks as you walk through the halls of the complex, and boy… were they depressing. " you have a tracker on your mullet, if you run away… we'll find you." Miles says, as he looks at you again. "I hadn't noticed… you can breathe this air without any problem. It's funny" and yes, it was. You could breathe human air and pandora's air without any problem. You looked Miles up and down. He noticed your action. "Do you see anything you like?" he asks arrogantly. You groan a little." Don't get excited soldier, I have my partner" Miles laughs a little." So I was right, that guy is your partner…the blue monkey" you punch him in the arm, Quaritch is shocked. "Sorry…blue monkey? Don't you dare talk about him like that" you say annoyed. "I'm sorry, I apologize" he clears his throat. "Well, he's a lucky boy." You look at quaritch curiously. This man is strange. Very very strange.

Meanwhile in the shelter in the mountains, your search attempts seemed hopeless. There was nothing. They didn't have any contacts so they could spy inside the base. If they got too close, they knew he was going to die. Neytiri and neteyam were ready to fight, but Jake begged them not to, it was risky. Jake knew you didn't want any of them to get hurt. But he was getting desperate too. Norm had no idea what to do. They were all waiting for something to happen. "We have to do something!!!" said loak, as he gets up to walk back and forth in the lab. Neteyam was sitting, distracted. One could tell how down he was. "What if some avatar comes in and pretends to be staff?" says kiri, norm shakes his head. "They have security and as soon as they see us they'll know it's us. We are fugitives" norm shakes his head. "Don't worry, we'll keep working on this, we're not going to give up" says Jake, while an annoyed Neytiri leaves the lab room. They all stand there in silence, no one is in the mood to follow anyone.

Neytiri goes to the spirit tree, it has been months since she has been here. She knelt down and connected her braid to one of the branches of the tree. And began to pray to eywa. "please eywa…. Let my daughter be safe. Let her come back to me. Let her find a soul, who will help her come back to me. No matter how long it takes, but let her come back to me. Please." Neytiri says as tears come out of her eyes. She opens her eyes and gets up to leave. She knew you were okay, but she was afraid of what they would do to you. That was her biggest fear.

Two weeks… two weeks had passed. And you were still in that horrible place. They had done many tests. Both physical and blood tests. They discovered that your DNA was different from that of the human and the navi. It was a new strand. But you shared similarities with both races. They investigated how you were able to wear your braid, although when they tried to touch it, you would not allow it. And Quaritch confronted the scientists, saying they shouldn't do anything you didn't want. You couldn't deny it, he had been very nice to you. It was as if he was someone else… you were so sure he wasn't the same man from that forest who was yelling at you not to move. Now he was kind, funny and your companion everywhere you went. You didn't trust him completely, but you had no choice.

After several tests you began to feel bad, you thought that the discomfort was because you missed your family, but no, this discomfort came from somewhere else. Your head started to hurt, you felt dizzy and you barely touched your lunch. You tried to get comfortable in your bed, but it was useless. So you decided to call Quaritch from an "emergency" button he had placed on the table. He didn't take long to arrive, and when he entered the room he saw you lying on the floor. "Hey little one… what's wrong?" he asked worriedly. "I don't know, my head is spinning" you try to explain, but you are too sick for that. Miles takes you in his arms and carries you to the nurse's office.

He's worried about you, and has been since you arrived. Even Lyle has noticed the change in the colonel's behavior, well… if he was still the colonel. His attitude was kinder, he was calmer and he was even refusing to go on some routine missions. Lyle felt like he was talking to someone else. He wasn't complaining, he liked this thousand more, he was nice, calm and he cared about others. It was weird… but Lyle knew it had something to do with you. Or something that had made him change. By chance, Lyle was walking down the hallway near the nurse's office and saw a worried Miles walking from side to side. He had his ears back and his tail was between his legs." Hey colonel, what's going on?" lyle asks him." Oh thank god you're here, y/n got really bad. I don't know what's wrong," Queritch says a little agitated. "hey, take it easy… maybe something she ate made her sick. You know she's used to navi food" lyle tries to calm miles down. "Yes, that could be it," says Miles, as he sits down on a seat outside the nurse's office. Lyle decides to join him. He didn't know what was happening to him. His colonel's heart had gone soft.

And everything was fine…until we decided to do some routine tests, you know the normal ones and…" the scientist paused. Lyle and Quaritch gave each other a worried look. It couldn't be what they thought. "The girl is pregnant." Quaritch couldn't believe what he was hearing. You were pregnant? How was that possible? "How is that possible?" Lyle asked the scientist. "Well… if she has a mate, and let's take into account that she shares similarities with the na'vis, it's possible, but you have to do other tests," says the scientist. "Do what you have to do, but carefully" says Miles, while running his hand through his hair. Lyle and Miles stand in silence, in that dark corridor. What were they going to do now?

Fun fact: Hì’i, is the name of your ilu, tuk has named her this way because she has very pretty lines on the sides of her face. Hì'i means heaven.
