Well again people do react differently but there are also people who abuse others in the name of power. Like if one is a bullying victim and becomes a bully to assert some dominance sure one can understand their pain but they become bullies all the same and their behavior changing even if it is understandable it is still not excusable.

Melantho wanted power and also she fell in love. She had every reason to be grateful and yet she wasn't because she desired more. It wasn't just her love that made her act out of the line. It was her own thirst for power and her insolence. Homer is a master of words. In this case he shows a very human behavior; a slave that is not grateful for the good luck that others like her did not enjoy and she wishes more. Possibly be considered of similar status as her mistress or at least as a potential for it. Her behavior even if understandable is still inexcusable.

Now Homer of course is of different times. He also doesn't seem to approve the order of things being altered for example slaves rebelling against their masters. He could be also winking to that fact; that a slave should act like a slave and that a king should act like a king (similarly at how Thersites is an unpleasant and rude fellow so even if many of the things he says are correct, he is still beaten up for his insolence for daring to equate himself to his superiors)

Either way the impact of Homeric writing is different from peeson to person and from era to era. However the fact is that it seems Homer separates his position from this and he basically holds the girls accountable for their sins. He doesn't particularly elaborate on their lives the same way that he doesn't elaborate on the lives of women taken as slaves in Iliad (while other writers did for example Eurypedes with his "Trojan Women") so yeah there is that too.

Sure no problem. For me is as I said above. I can understand their reasoning and sympathize with their fate but do not excuse their actions. Only understand them. Plus they did know what they were getting into and quite frankly they had no guarantee from the suitors either which is what makes them sympathetic plus the way Homer so graphically depicts their death.

I'm not over the fishies... Falin and Laios being dogfish sharks is so fucking good, at first i didnt think it fit cause of f.ex how small dogfish are but then i remembered the spiny dogfish(she doesnt seem to have a spine n assigning them dif dogfish species is a very fun way to circumvent the sexual dimorphism while still feeling like theyre def related but) migration thing still fits well with how Falin wants to travel 🥺 Also it's fun cause they're still doggies even though limiting yourself to fish means the more obvious dog choice of seals or eared seals(sea lions n fur seals) isn't viable(did you know there used to be japanese sea lions that went extinct in the 1970s because of overhunting?) and. I really like sharks.

I think Marcille being human actually fits very well! Feel like it parallels her fear of her loved ones dying nicely since the average dogfish and seahorses live way shorter than a human can, and the ocean is very dangerous. Speaking of, seahorse chilchuck is a lot of fun. Did you have a specific species in mind? My first thought is lined seahorse since they're very bland compared to others(no crazy colouration or thorns, etc) and can be yellow, but i dont know much about seahorses. (Please look up Coleman's pygmy seahorse if you haven't seen them before they look like they're flat)

I was thinking of who to ask this question but I saw an ask asking if you play genshin, now I that I know you do I find it best if I ask this to you. I keep seeing genshin content on my FYP TikTok even before I joined mdzs fandom even though I don't play. Just yesterday, I saw a post saying there's a parallel between diluc & kaeya and wwx & jc. I don't know the lore about diluc & kaeya, I just searched the two names together I saw sweet things but the comments section crying say otherwise. Are there really parallels/similarities between the two supposedly brothers? (Supposedly is there because jc didn't actually look at wwx as a brother unlike Yanli did.)

Not... much? Since there is way more than just the "grew up together in childhood" part of it all between these two duos.

(I am so sorry this is so long I'll put it under a read more lol for anyone not interested in the diffing lore of both)

Kaeya had specifically been adopted by the Ragnvindrs out of sheer good will with no other stipulations, but this was under a years long sabotage plan against Teyvat by Kaeya's people. They very much DID grow up as actual siblings and thought of the other as such. They also both became Knights, as it was encouraged by their father (Kaeya's goal had just been out of revenge originally to begin ruining Mondstadt).But, where it differs there is that Kaeya really did want to help and become a part of Mondstat and the knights because he came to admire Crepus and his ideals and Diluc himself had no hate of him growing up.

Where they fell out was due to Crepus dying by using planted false visions (delusions) that were originally made by the Fatui and Kaeya's people that are more or less extinct. Both do not want Archons or gods anymore, for different reasons, The Fatui because they see their Archon as the overarching God of the world and Khaenri'ah just does not believe in the intervention of the gods as divine and are imprisoning humanity.

Kaeya, had decided not to ruin his family because he came to love them and fully integrated into Mondstadt. But, because of how their father died he felt guilty of his original purpose of being adopted and tells Diluc the truth (who mind, had to kill his father to keep him from suffering from the backlash of the fake vision). The Knights wanted to hide the reason why Crepus died so not to tarnish their reputation, a lie Kaeya was willing to obey. While Diluc wanted to know more of the origins of the fake visions. Where this is different is that DILUC didn't want to associate with his brother anymore due to his continued lies and still following the Knights of Favonius who he saw as hypocritical instead of solving anything significant. Kaeya still believed in the ideals of the knights and continues to be a relevant part of their campaigns. Diluc has reasonable doubts when it comes to Kaeya and not wishing to have him be a large part of his life anymore and did lash out to fight him before disowning him.

As for Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng, well, first part is automatically different as Wei Wuxian was never adopted or called a son. He was only a a servant ward of Yunmeng Jiang and it was the expectation he would be friends with Jiang Fengmian's children. Wei Wuxian also is very adamant of respecting his parents and having loved them with the few memories he had. There was far more duty bound servitude expected from Wei Wuxian, due to being "saved" by Jiang Fengmian. One he himself acknowledges at the end of the book as the reason he never talked of his core loss, because he would see it as a poor excuse to remove any responsibility he had promised to the Jiangs to protect Jiang Cheng. Their entire relationship hinges upon debts first and foremost.

And one-sidedly at that, as Jiang Cheng viewed Wei Wuxian as a servant of him and Yunmeng Jiang and not a brother. Wei Wuxian was very careful in not defining the Jiangs as more other due to what his relationship was made to be with them to the world, and this extended to Jiang Cheng as the promise between them was:

Jiang Cheng was quiet, but he seemed to have calmed down a little.

Wei Wuxian put an arm around his shoulders again. “When you become the family head, I’ll be your subordinate. We’ll be just like our fathers.

This is not a unspoken promise of brotherhood but of an expected place in each other's life without major change, or familial equality. Wei Wuxian was aware of his station as a servant, but was content with that, he didn't want or crave more, because he had no higher expectations of his place that he had been given in life. But, this also wasn't a forever promise to "always be by Jiang Cheng's side" as Jiang Cheng construed it.

When Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian fought, it wasn't because of any sort of betrayal from Wei Wuxian, but the lack of support Jiang Cheng felt he didn't need to also provide, while thinking Wei Wuxian was always trying to selfishly sabotage him (whether in talent, or because he was trying to help strangers instead of placing his "duty" to Jiang Cheng first.).

Kaeya and Diluc DO have the history of being raised as family to be labeled as having a family fallout, Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng do not. As Kaeya and Diluc don't feel any debts between them and it was the lies that were revealed and maintained after their fathers death that made their ideals converge. Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng always had different ideals, and it was duty that made them associate so much only.

In ref to all that 'kid at 14' stuff. Yes I agree with everyone, LCDP writers have some serious continuity problems. Not to be the devil's advocate, but LCDP was a done for thing that was meant to end in S2 until Nerflix decided to pick it up. So when they originally made it, it didn't matter if Andrés was 30 something cause it didn't change anything. Then Netflix arrived and made S3, 4 and 5 and things HAD to be added (so there were bound to be plot holes, it was inevitable). So now Rafael comes along and it's just easier for plot purposes to give Andrés Pedro's age. So okay. Kinda can forgive that.

What I still don't get is their surname's and all the family history. Because yeah, actors decided they were bros from dad and that got confirmed in S5, okay. BUT then what about the 'your father' along with the fact their surnames suggest they have dif father but same mom.

Also when Andrés reveals his illness he says 'tengo la enfermedad de mamá' as in mom's illness. NOT 'my mom's illness' but 'mom's illness' which just makes things a little confusing going by their surnames🤷‍♀️. And then (if I remember correctly) his file says 'de Fonollosa García' (or some such surname like that) so where the fuck does Marquina fits in in all this, and also who the fuck is García then? Because okay, if for some reason Papá Marquina didn't give his surname to Andrés and de Fonollosa was the mom (which again why????) it still leaves me confused about where the hell do you get the García from.

And this is all a plot hole that originates from S1 and 2 so for that they don't have the excuse of 'Netflix made us add to a finished product'.

So that's it, I hope this is at least somewhat comprehensible. And sorry for the rambling😅.

Yeah lol I still think it’s hilarious that they tried to set an age and height for Andrés for no reason, only for those two specific details to be proven wrong at every turn. But I agree that we should look at S1/2 with a different context since like you said, Netflix picking it up meant new additions that don’t quite match up (like Andrés’ age) were inevitable. Still funny but understandable.

re: surname: Despite how on board I am with the same father hc now, literally all clues in S1-3 pointed at same mother. And you pretty much pointed out why! Anyone watching would have assumed they shared a mother. I guess we could say Papa Marquina was just blatantly not there for Andrés so he felt the man was more of Sergio’s father. We could also say Andrés is just self-centered and assumed he could say “mom” and Sergio would just know he’s talking about his own mother lol.

The de Fonollosa Garcia thing is throwing me off too though LOL (also funny thing is I was literally just wondering what his second surname was and then you sent this ask, answering my question haha). OK so I’m sure you understand this way better than me, so I hope you don’t mind me asking the following series of stupid questions in response asdfaadf:

To my understanding (correct me if I’m wrong!), Spanish surnames go “father’s first surname” then “mother’s first surname.” So if Andres for some reason took his mother’s surname, would he be allowed to take both of hers? Or is that just not a thing? As in, could de Fonollosa be his (maternal) grandfather’s surname and Garcia his grandmother’s surname?

The other alternative (again, I’m not sure if it makes sense in the cultural context?) is that Andres was a bastard child, but his mother was married to someone else. So Garcia really is his mother’s last name and de Fonollosa is his stepfather’s last name? 

OR, the theory that I hate the most because it feels in-line with lcdp writers asdsdf, Garcia was supposed to be Sergio’s last name, but they changed it to Marquina at the last minute and forgot to change Andres’ file. Moral of the story: writing as they film has its perks, but it also leads to objectively awkward plot holes about basic details LMAO

YESSS ANIMALS AND PLANTS AND PRETTY THINGS IS LIKE MY MAIN PURPOSE W MODS ok heres a list w links and brief descriptions so u kinda know whats going on <3 ill kind of categorise them too... 

some laptops seem way better than others at handling mods but i would say just pick and choose ur absolute favorites and if thats too much for it then take one out until its more manageable! my laptop handled mods very well but i dont think i had THIS many on it hadflkjghdfkjlghndklfjhg

animals:

ice and fire adds dragons and TONS of like fantasy animals and some scary mobs too!!! u can tame most of the animals and theyre all very unique and SUPER cool! u can ride some of them, theyll fight for u, etc... its very configurable like u can change spawn rates and stuff, i personally turned dragons WAY down so theyre very rare to come across, bc they kill u like instantly and also cause a ton of lag if theres a lot at once, and theyre default spawn rates are ummm too high lol. but yah this is one of the best mods i think ever probably...i love it sm its like a classic

better animal models makes vanilla animals look cuter and better and better animals plus (by the same ppl) adds a bunch of other animals that are rly cute! a lot of them are tameable and theyre very well thought out

genetic animals adds a bunch of dif breeds + colors and new breeding and feeding mechanics to farm animals, its kind of new but very well done but i really really love it! if you use it in conjuncture with better animal models, it replaces to vanilla farm animals but not the wolves and foxes and stuff, so they work very well together. also the chicken babies are like incredibly teeny tiny and adorable. and it lets you be able to ride llamas and cows with saddles and bridles... i could go on (this mod is what i use in place of animania, my favorite mod ever, but that one hasnt updated past 1.12)

alexs mobs also just adds a bunch of new animals, almost all of these are tameable and very unique, i LOVE that it adds crows lol you can also ride some of these animals once u tame them... u can also configure spawn rates for these if theres ones you dont want or want more of, etc. they update pretty often with new animals as well

realistic horse genetics is a super well done mod that makes horses come in wayyyyy more colors, it also has them come in different sizes and stuff...basically what it says in the name but its like. INCREDIBLY well done i couldnt live without it lol

exotic birds adds a ton of pretty birds! it also adds a rare phoenix you can obtain and tame, and ride, which is cool! you can keep birds in birdcages breed them and incubate eggs and all kinds of stuff

making stuff pretty:

biomes o plenty is super popular and really awesome, adds a tonnnn of new biomes with their own trees and wood types and plants and stuff! theres also some cool rare biomes (this mod also works well with all the animal mods); and some other biome mods i kinda cycle between are terraforged (also makes terrain generate better, smoother and stuff and super configurable! this works alongside mods that add biomes) and traverse is good too

macaws roofs, doors, windows, furniture, fences, etc are good for making ur houses pretty! i havent done much w this yet bc i havent built a house since i got it, but it looks really nice

diagonal fences does what it says on the can its suuper convenient and i like it a lot since i make a lot of animal pastures hehe... and it works with custom fences (so if you have macaws fences it will work for those too!)

fairy lights adds paper lanterns and string lights which look way better than torches! also lets u make flag banners and stuff

falling tree lets you chop a tree down in 1 swoop, and automatically destroys the floating leaves so u dont have floating trees and stuff everywhere...might seem cheaty but i like it lol (i also use this in place of dynamic trees, which makes trees BEAUTIFUL but, again, hasnt updated past 1.12)

i also use the unity resource pack (i like this one bc it makes colors more coordinated and muted! my ocd lollll i also like mizunos of courseee) and sildurs vibrant shaders (sildurs is pretty graphics intensive but the lite or medium versions are less so! there are also less intense shaders out there, this is just the one i use)... for shaders to work u need optifine (which also adds dynamic lighting! i.e torches will light the way when you hold them without placing them, stuff like that. its also just good to have, it optimises your game better to prevent lag)

SO YEAH LOL those are all the mods i use rn! some of these have dependents you have to download to make them work (like biomes o plenty requires open terrain generator) but they tell u that on the download pages and stuff, just look out for that <3 also most of these mods have wikis if you wanna know how to tame an animal or crafting recipes and stuff like that, i pretty much keep the wikis open whenever im playing lol. idk how much u know abt the like process of installing mods n stuff but if u need help hmu and ill try to help!

27. What are your views on reader x canon ships?

So, funny story; aka the background of how I discovered fanfiction was a thing without knowing fanfiction was a thing.

Back in the day, there was this website called “elibs.” Basically, it was a site filled with adlib stories (the ones where there’s a story/joke written out, and you have to pick an adjective/verb/noun/colour/etc to fill in the blanks before you read the story. Then the site would fill in the blanks with the words you chose and pop out a silly sounding story, because none of the choices you made fit with what was going on).

I was in grade 5 when my friends and I found that site, and we would send the best ones to each other during library period, when we were supposed to be researching stuff lol. But what that site also had was a bunch of original and fanfic stories, where the blanks would be your name, hair/eye/skin colour, age, height, whatever. All just blank so that the character in the story was actually you. They were mostly still written in third person, tho some of them were in second person. My friends and I ate them up. It was so cool getting to be a character in an amazing story. In fact, the first thing I wrote and published was a Harry Potter reader insert fic that I posted on that website. I was 11. It was terrible. I loved it haha.

(There was a lot of self-insert porn on that website too. No regulations meant lots and lots of dirty stuff that you would stumble upon. Of course my friends and I all shared those with each other lol. It was so taboo! And we just giggled over them—even read them together, switching out the names so we could laugh at who was having sex next. All in library class. Idk how we were never caught. I can’t see doing that now. Like there’s this taboo about watching/reading porn platonically lol. But as 11 year olds (and even until we left middle school and split up) it was just funny... and then hormones kicked in and it became a way to discuss sex. Maybe we were too young for it, idk, but I remember it fondly).

Then after that, this site called “quizilla” got big, and all their stories were reader x character fics. So of course we all moved on to that.

I didn’t find out that what I was doing was actually called “fanfiction” until grade 7, when another friend introduced me to FFN. That’s when I started reading canon x canon fics. Reader fics we’re not allowed on FFN I believe, only OCs.

Now I still read reader x canon fics, mostly for the nostalgia of how I first found fanfiction, and because I find that reading stories in second person are really relaxing. Plus why not? You all know I have a crush on Kakashi and Shisui and Hawks lol. You think I’m not gonna do something about it???

The only time I find reader x canon fics to be a turnoff is when the author explicitly states “the reader is me but you can imagine yourself there too,” because then that feels too personal. Like I’m reading about your relationship with someone as opposed to some nameless character. Nothing wrong with writing yourself into a fic, just when I know it’s you I’m like “this feels like voyeurism.” If you wrote it as yourself and never told me I’d never know and it would be cool haha!

Plus, the first “daydreams” I had about stories always were like, “what would it be like if I could be in this story.” So I totally get why you’d want to and why people enjoy it. Idk why people find it cringey; like, it’s totally normal to want to be a part of something you love. I’ve loved so many worlds so much more than reality. I guess people find the romance to be “lame” but like, why? What’s more lame about liking a fictional character than having a celebrity crush? It’s not like you really know the celebrity, you know only what they show you. At least with a character you can say you know who they are completely. And those kind of crushes—fictional and celebrity—are a safe way of having and exploring romantic feelings. You go get your fictional crush, babies. I support you.

29. Do you like OCs (Original Characters)?

OCs are not inherently enjoyable or unenjoyable, it depends on the character, just like with canon characters. I’ve written several OCs, I’ve written OC x Canon fics, and I’ll probably continue to do so, if I feel the story I want to tell needs it. I have two different OC x Kakashi stories I’ve worked on, one I’m gonna scrap because I wrote it like right after the Pein arc and I feel that it doesn’t really work with the rest of Naruto in mind (tho I still like the OC lol), and the other is an ABO fic where I’m exploring what it means to be dominant and submissive, as well as gender roles. It didn’t work with any Canon x Kakashi pairing I could think of, so I made an OC. (This fic is dif than the ABO!KakaSaku fic im working on lol don’t worry).

I like reading stories with OCs so long as I like the OC—same as I like reading about Canon characters so long as I like the canon character. The OCs I dislike tend to have like, really horrible, depressing backstories where their families all died or they were abused or they’re currently depressed, just because they’re so angsty and I can’t read angst like that. Or they just seem kind of cliché. Nothing against people who write those characters, I totally get why you would and I respect you for it, but I just don’t enjoy reading about them.

But as to if OCs are an immediate turn off, the answer is a resounding “No.” Good writers make good OCs, it’s as simple as that. But even a good writer can make an OC you don’t like, because people have different preferences.

And well, every character is technically an original character, lol!

Honestly, I don’t want 1D to get back. EVER. I prefer Harry and Niall’s solo stuff. I don’t really care about Louis and I don’t even want to hear Zayn and Liam’s names again for the rest of my life. Now, if they do decide to get back I hope Zayn doesn’t come back because the only thing he has done since he left is complain about the band and it would just mean that he realized no one gives a single shit about him anymore and he can’t sell albums by himself

i think the biggest thing i miss about 1d is the shit they used to get up to.. like interviews were fun to watch bc u literally had 4 dif personalities saying whatever tf they wanted, i’ve watched like 0 solo interviews cause all of the answers are relatively the same. but i like having 4x (really 2x.. sorry lewith and liam) as much music, so if they wanted to just shit out a 1d album and then continued to make their own music i’d be down for that too lol
