˚➶ 。˚ PART ONE ˚➶ 。˚
You hate weekdays. That much is true for a lot of people. You like to think your reasoning is especially valid.
Every Monday through Friday like clockwork, 6:30AM you walk into the prison. That on its own wasn't so bad. You lived only ten minutes away; the gothic building looked over your village in tandem with the mountains. You could see it when the weather was clear, even from your bedroom on the edge of town. You were no longer afraid of it like when you were a child.
You are, however, afraid of the newest prisoners.
New arrivals didn't usually rock you. This is the only prison in the country fit to hold lycans, after all. They all got transferred here eventually. From beta's who were just stealing to eat, to alphas who used their powers on humans, to those who believed in the old ways and fed on humans.
You had to interact with them all face to face.
You weren't excited for that particular aspect of your job this week.
You made your way through the double doors and greeted the security guard, your friend Hyolyn, as you went through the metal detector. It went off on account of the scent blocker that was embedded in your neck. She chuckled and switched it off so it stopped its incessant beeping.
"Don't laugh at me!" You threw a smile her way as you got your small purse from the plastic bucket she slid towards you. She doesn't bother to check your bag. She knows you well enough to know you wouldn't bring in any "fuck shit", as she would say. "You alpha's don't have to worry about accidentally spewing scent everywhere."
"Thank goodness for that, this place would stink to high heaven." Her unintentional reference to the new arrivals makes the air turn stiff. She could tell you were on edge immediately. "They aren't all that scary," she lays a comforting hand to your shoulder as you fiddle with the long strap on your crossbody bag.
"I heard one of them killed Alpha Greene... you think that's true? That guy was huge, I saw him at The Thing last year, I almost peed myself cause he looked at me-" You stop your own rambling, taking a deep breath and letting it out as a shaking sigh. "I don't want to go in there. Honestly, why can't we install a laundry chute or something, fuck."
"I'll follow you up, I c-"
"No, no, it's visiting day. You need to be down here. You know Chungha? Her daughter is visiting today. Don't want you to miss her." You offer a sad, tight lipped smile, but that doesn't trick her instincts to protect her weaker pack member. She knows you too well to be tricked.
"You just scream and I'll be there. Either of those cocky fucks lift a pinky in your direction and I'll gut them. They don't deserve to see a trial anyway."
A small exhale in the form of a chuckle lightens her protective instincts, she can tell you feel more at ease with her promise to be right there at the slightest hint of trouble.
"See you, Hyolyn."
"Later, babes."
You wave your fingers with a smile as the elevator doors slides shut. As soon as they clunk together, you let it fall and crouch with your head in your hands, taking in deep and slow breaths as you try and force all of the rumors you've heard about the two newest inmates away from your head.
The older alpha of the duo was the first born in this generation. They're always powerful. But he was born to two bloodthirsty rouges. Born in sin and blood lust.
The younger alpha was born just some months after, to an arranged marriage that was purposefully formed to make powerful children. They surely regret that now. Some say the man has the strongest, sharpest claws since the first lycan in Talbot Castle.
When the elevator dings, you're already upright and have that strong facade on that you put on when you're clocked in.
˚➶ 。˚
You start with the familiar. "Hey, Chungha," you tap on the silver bars of her cell, "hand 'em over." She smiles as she stands, stripping the sheets from her cot and holding them through the bars for you. "Thank you," you draw on with a tug on your lips that matches hers.
"Yunnie in town?"
"Mhm," you hum as you fold the blanket before dropping it in the large basket on wheels, "she came over for stew, I made sure to feed her good and well, don't worry."
You know it was probably problematic, but you couldn't help it. Chungha came here three years ago on a charge for battery, and over those three years you became sort of friends with her.
The battered in her case was her grandfather. When her five year old daughter, Jiyun, started to show signs of being an omega- he left her in the snow to wither away. She managed to survive until her mother came home, and said mother was furious.
She was lucky she didn't charged with attempted manslaughter.
"She said she'll be here first thing."
"Thank you," she had a heavy pull on her voice. You don't have the emotional connection to other wolves like an alpha or beta did. But it was clear to anyone she was being sincere. "You're a good woman."
"Don't mention it, Yunnie is good company. Oh," you start to wheel the basket away when you remember something. You reach into the purse that you had set on the handles. "She made this at art class, asked me to give it to you so it didn't have to wait in processing."
It was a small, cruelly made ceramic bowl in the vague shape of a heart. It was clearly made by an eight year old, but made with love.
"I owe you."
"Just keep working on that parol work." You said lightly and blew a kiss as you moved to the next cell.
The rest of your work nearly cleared your mind as you went from cell to cell, floor to floor. Omega's were on the second floor. Beta's on the third. Alphas on the fourth. High security on the fifth.
It's on the fourth level that you begin to feel those nerves that you had just worked away. The scent was becoming stronger. They didn't put them on blockers? Maybe they didn't think it would be worth it. Everyone knew that they were the worst of the worst, they didn't even try to hide it. They would undoubtedly be put to death. Why waste two perfectly good, expensive, blockers?
The basket of used sheets is nearly full, accumulating into a weight that makes you put your back into it as you push it into the elevator.
Your index finger reaches out, and before you can stop yourself you've pressed the button to the fifth floor.
You blank out until the door opens again. Your teeth are eternally grateful for the gum between them so they don't grind themselves into dust. The mint flavor does little to calm your nerves.
The only thing that makes you come back to your own head is Changbin. He's a big, buff beta with a gun full of silver bullets on his work belt. He won't let them hurt you. His smile washes away a lot of the nerves.
But the growl that rumbles against the walls makes them return ten, one hundred, one thousand fold. You don't dare say a word. A deer in headlights until Changbin places his hand on the small of your back. "Go on, don't give them the satisfaction of scaring you. They aren't going nowhere no time soon. Take a look."
He motions you deeper into the hall, florescent lights buzzing above you, matching the jittering feeling in the deepest pit of your stomach. It smells too strong. Too much. You're about to fall to your knees from the weight and you haven't even come face to face with the near feral criminals.
Changbin opens the doors at the end of the hall.
They've definitely gone all out to keep them in place. Two large cages placed next to each other in the middle of the enormous room. Made of pure silver and wrapped in wolfsbane. The unpleasant smell of the plant makes your nose twitch. A ring of blood ash surrounds it. Only omegas can pass through blood ash, and now you start to realize why they sent you.
You want to curse the warden, but the second you open your mouth, a loud cackle sounds out from one of the cages.
Changbin's hand twitches at the gun attached to his side.
"Oh wow," the smaller alpha chuckles, eyes closed, head tilted back, as he sniffs the air. "I didn't expect that." More manic giggles slip past his lips.
You haven't even looked up to see them and you want to cave in on yourself.
"What are you rambling about, huh?" The guard next to you shouts, making you flinch instinctively.
"That sweet... sweet, smell," he moans. You can hear him shuffling. "From a peppy little spit fuck omega."
You gasp abashedly, and now two laughs ring out. You want to wonder how they can smell you. Your insurance provides the best scent blocker in the country. But you're too scared to breathe, let alone think.
"Shut up," Changbin groans, he can feel you tense next to him, "don't piss me off, Kim."
"Awe," a new, rumbling voice makes you cower the second it reaches your ears, "this your mate? Hm, no... you wouldn't bring your mate here. You're not an idiot. Then, say... omega." You don't make a move to look when he addresses you, you stay looking at Changbins grip on his gun, silently.
"Omega, come!" Your feet move for you, and that manic laugh almost makes you wet yourself as you realize that your wolf is making you move toward them without your consent. You stop just outside of the blood ash, where you know you're safe.
     "Changb-"
"No. I'm the one you're speaking to."
Changbin seems to be weighing his options, eyeing the men as they eye you.
"Why are you here? You a shrink?"
    You shake your head.
   "You a lawyer?"
    Again.
"She works here, dumbass, look at her scrubs," the younger speaks, and you nod subconsciously, to which he giggles, "what can we do for a pretty little thing like you?"
When you refuse to speak, the guard does it for you. "She's here for your sheets today. Get used to her."
You hated that this was your job, but it was easy and accessible, and available for omegas. Werewolves are clean freaks. Every day you had a different cleaning task, but you didn't complain. Not until right now- you wanted to rip out the throat of whoever's idea it was to not shoot these criminals on sight.
"Ah," he hums, and you can feel his eyes raking your body. You can feel both of their eyes. "Not too bad of a sight to get used to. Huh, Hwa?"
"Mh, that's right... can't wait to get my hands on her."
Your head snaps back to Changbin.
"Awn, she thinks he's gonna help her!" The high pitched giggles bounce around in your head. "Oh, little omega~"
The saccharine coo finally pulls your eyes to the men in the cages.
If you thought you knew what fear was before this moment, you were wrong.
The two strongest criminals in the country, staring you down like a piece of meat. It doesn't matter that they are the ones in cages of silver and wolfsbane. You are the one who feels cornered.
You can immediately feel out their dynamics. The taller one is the older one, quiet and still in his cage as he sits in the center. Shaggy, shining hair framing his face and neck like an elegant piece of lace over a brides face. He has a sleeve of tattoos on one forearm, a thick tattoo on his neck. Eyes glowing a deep, blood red, as he tries to read your entire story with only a look in your direction.
The giggling one is less intimidating, only by a hair. Chemically lightened locks pushed back messily, letting his entrancing features shine in the light from the narrow windows high on the walls. He has tattoos as well, but they seem few and far between. His eyes are human for a moment before they meet yours. Instantaneously, they flick black.
The knot drops from your throat and you let out a small, pathetic, squeak.
Changbin breaks your staring contest with the alpha, shouting orders at them. "Take the sheets off your cot and set them outside of your cage. Do not attempt to touch her, I will shoot you."
Neither criminal makes a move to follow his orders, both simply staring at you.
A low growl is emitted when the older alpha finally snaps up, tearing the sheet off the sorry excuse for a bed in one fell swoop. The younger follows his lead, shoving their sheets through the bars that are wrapped in the poisonous flower.
You look to the guard, and he nods, "go." With his finger twitching at the gun ready to pull it, you jump over the dark red ashes and into the wolves den, snatching the sheets up as quick as possible and dashing away, out the door before they even get a chance to lock in your scent up close.
The giggles follow you all the way to the elevator and ring in your head even as the thick metal thunks shut.
As you take a deep breath, you notice the sheets are gripped to your chest, your claws drawn subconsciously in your panic and ripping them up. "Shit!" You let out a curse and shove them into the bottom of the basket so you don't have to smell it as closely on the long ride to the basement.
˚➶ 。˚
The lingering wafts of your fresh scent are long gone, nothing to distract the alpha's from their caged boredom and bubbling rage over being caught. "I'll have that runts heart in my hands by the end of the month." Hongjoong groaned, to no one in particular- he knew Seonghwa was too deep in thought from their recent revelations. "Fucking back stabbers. They're more pathetic than a bitch in heat trying to get off with a dildo."
The thought hit his mind as soon as the words left his lips.
The thought of you, legs spread with your hand dipped low, trying to satisfy your primal urges and-
"Stop that." Seonghwa growls, kicking the bars of their shared 'wall'.
"Settle down!"
"Oh, like you weren't thinking it!" Hongjoong rolls his eyes, a scowl on his face as he crosses his arms. "Your ruts coming and you don't want your-"
"I said stop," he nearly roars, grabbing Hongjoong's state issued orange top and ripping it with his claws as he pulls him forward.
"I know you want her because I want her too." He whispers, smirking at the telltale signs of desire and bloodlust in his mates eyes. Red swirling around the brown of his human eyes. "Imagine how good she'll smell when we take out that stupid blocker. We'll be drowning in her scent." He moans, grabbing his wrist, "I get the honors, my claws are sharper, anyways," he draws them quickly, digging them into his skin as if to prove a point.
"I can use my teeth, mark h-"
"Oh, will you two stop? Love of God..." The guard in the large room slaps his book down on the rickety table. "What is there possibly for you to be fighting about? You're about to be executed, you know that right? No jury in the world will let you walk, especially the human half."
Their frustrations turn to the man, letting each other go. "Ah, you think so?" The older croons, dragging his index over his bleeding wrist and bringing it to his lips, sucking it clean before he continues. "We won't be around these parts long enough to meet the jury."
"What do you mean by that?"
Hongjoong covers his mouth when a laugh slips past. Seonghwa simply smirks as he sits cross legged, eyes locked with the guard as he licks his wound.
"What do you mean by that?!"
The blonde man breaks out in a fit of laughter. The brunette simply flashes his bloody canines in a twisted smile.
˚➶ 。˚
You spent the whole time doing your daily tasks trying to hype yourself up to go back up to the fifth floor.
You usually went top down, four to one. Nobody has ever been on five before.
You go bottom up today, starting at Chungha with a full basket of freshly washed sheets. She prattles on about her visit with Jiyun, and how she's so thankful for you.
You choose that as your focus point for the rest of the work day, even as you press the button to the fifth floor.
You think back to the first time you spoke to Chungha, she was a crying mess, unable to sense that you were an omega like herself. She cried and cried and cried as you held her hand through the bars of temporary holding. She cried for her daughter, for cursing her with the shame of being the weakest link of any pack. When she looked up and saw your eyes, barely glowing, she cried more.
She apologized profusely, but you reassured her that her words were true, and you hadn't been offended. You told her that, in fact, she was the first to ever share your feelings of what being an omega really meant. It meant loneliness beside anyone but other omegas. Fake relationships born with people who only stuck around because of their primal instincts to either prey on you or protect you. It meant facing the fact that you were outcasts from both of the world's dominant societies. Outcasted from humans for being a werewolf. Outcasted from werewolves for being weak. So weak, in fact, that blood ash didn't even think of you as a wolf.
That night, you drove four hours to the next village over and looked after her daughter until her aunt had room. You remember the first thing the girl said to you. She didn't speak that whole day, surely in shock from the past few days events. But when you tucked her into the motel bed, she spoke as soft as a ghost, "sing me a song?"
You hum it to yourself now, the soft sound reverberating through the metal around you until the door opened.
You wheel the basket with you this time, like it will protect you as you approach the open doors, already feeling the unwavering gaze of the criminals.
"Hey, dolly~" Hongjoong, you had learned when you took a peek into their files, purred your way.
You didn't give him the satisfaction of responding verbally, but he saw the goosebumps on your arm as you reached into the basket, stretching on your tip toes to get the last two sheets.
"You never shut up do you, Kim?" The guard sighed with an exhausted tone, making you smile as you slowly made your way to the ring of red dust.
The throaty rumble from Seonghwa, the older, taller wolf, makes that smile drop to the depths of Hell.
The new guard seems to notice your anxiety, eyeing you up- in a much less predatory manner than the caged men. "Go on, 'mega. I'm watching them."
A bang on the metal bars makes you glue your foot right back where it came from. It's the blonde one, "you shut the fuck up!"
"No, you shut the fuck up! I'm the one with the silver bullets!"
All of the yelling is making you tremble, Hongjoong and the guard going back and forth. "She isn't your omega!"
"She ain't yours!"
Seonghwa watches with a sinister smile as you back away from the ash and the guard, calling to you quietly, "hey."
The soft tone of his voice makes you raise your eyes, but not your head. His eyes don't hold that threatening and dominating red from before. They're a soft brown color that reminds you of a beautiful dark oak in the morning sunshine. "What's your name?"
"(Y/n)..." your tongue moves without your consent, fresh blankets held to your work scrubs.
You desperately want the guard to notice this trance you're in, and grab you out of it. You want to do it yourself, but you can't do anything but admire the beauty of the criminal who has you hypnotized.
"You're a pretty omega, y'know? What color is your wolf?"
"Black..." It's a slur off your lips, barely registering in his sharply tuned ears over the yelling that continues to fill the room.
"Mine too. What's her name? His is Akma."
"Solis."
"Very pretty. Is she fast?"
"Yes."
"Does she want an alpha? A mate?"
"Yes."
The guard finally notices your raised gaze, affixed to the infamous, unlawful, man. He puts his gun back in the holster quickly before gripping your shoulder and forcing you to turn around. "You idiot, didn't anyone ever tell you not to look a first born in the eyes?"
"Sorry. I'm sorry." No one had ever told you that, actually.
Both of the criminals share a smirk as the man from your pack attempts to calm you. It wasn't hard for them to figure out you were an alpha-less village. They could smell every single wolf in five miles, and not a single stench from a wolf even nearly as strong as them.
There was, however, you. A honeyed smell that filled their guts with the primal need to rip out the eyes of anyone who dared look at you.
The guard couldn't be more wrong. You are their omega. You just don't know yet.
"Go and give these fucks their sheets, then get the hell out of here." The man shoved you, making you jump clumsily over the ash so you didn't break the seal.
He yells at them to back up, and they do so without a fight.
You shove them both in at the same time before running back out quickly, grabbing the empty basket and dragging it with you, the sound of the wheels scraping with the force of your panic echoing in the near empty room.
"You guys get off on scaring defenseless girls?" The guard scoffs, not expecting an answer as he drags the chair out of the room and slams the doors behind him.
Seonghwa lets his facade fall the second the door shuts, falling to his knees and grappling at the sheet like he's a starving man with the last piece of food on Earth. Hongjoong watches for a moment in confusion until the scent catches up with his weaker nose. Then he's quickly falling in the same position.
"It worked, the guard was so easy to distract," Hongjoong chuckles, face buried into the sheet that smells vaguely like you from your time spent holding it. "What did you learn?"
"(Y/n), a black wolf named Solis," he pauses, eyes rolled back as he takes a deep breath. They're red when they re-open. "No mate. It's really her."
"You think we should have told her?" Hongjoong inquires, looking through the bars.
He's never seen Seonghwa on his knees for anyone but him or the moon.
"No," he shakes his head, turning to lock eyes with him. "She'll figure it out when I mark her."
"When I mark her."
He rolls his eyes at his defiant nature, knowing full well he won't disobey his orders no matter how badly he wants to do something.
In a dog eat dog world, the strongest was the most powerful. Unlike their human neighbors, werewolves don't decide political or social standing by money or family name. They decide based on who comes out on top in a battle of the body and of the wits.
It had been determined years ago, when they were just young rebellious pups, that Seonghwa was the alpha. A fight in the woods under the moon had set it in stone between the two.
He could have ripped Hongjoongs throat out right then and there, but now, 13 years later in the present; they're bonded for life.
Sometimes he still sees Hongjoong as that 12 year old boy under his teeth, still snapping and growling even as he bled out with tears in his dark eyes, fighting to survive purely out of spite.
"You can mark her first," Seonghwa speaks quickly, turning his back as he puts the sweet smelling sheet on his cot.
He smiles at the man, a quiet thanks spoken through their bonded souls.
˚➶ 。˚
Tuesday, they don't see you until much later in the day, but they bask in the sight of you opening the door with a broom and tray in hand, smiling at Changbin. You'll be here for a while, it's a big room.
"Hey, Binnie," you whisper to the beta, and Seonghwa has to bite his tongue.
Binnie? Ugh.
Hongjoong isn't so polite, "hey, Dolly! We don't get a hello?" You barely peek at him, eyes flicked from him right back to the floor in a millisecond. He knows you noticed his pout when he hears the smallest 'hello' tremble by your lips.
You start in the corner, headphones attached to your walkman with your favorite song on repeat to try and soothe yourself. Bill Withers calming voice blocks out every word of the teasing alphas, but you can still feel them mocking you and picking at you.
You don't dare sweep anywhere near the blood ash on the floor. One less precaution in place was one more thing to worry about.
"Bye, Binnie."
He does growl that time, eyes narrowed on your back until the door shuts.
˚➶ 。˚
Wednesday, you have a frown on your face. "Three days in a row?" The guard Hongjoong got in a yelling match with, Merle, greets you as you come into the cavernous room, "bad schedule huh?"
"No kidding," you sigh, feet slightly hesitant to pass the dust border, "I'm here to fix your shirt. It's state property." You don't look at them, but they know who you're referring to.
They act like they don't, though. Just to hear more of your voice. To make you wriggle under their attention. "Sorry? What do you mean?"
You look and point to Hongjoong, his collar ripped from Seonghwas grasp. "State property."
"Ah, of course." He grins like a jackal, pulling it over his head and sticking his hand out of the bars just in the slightest. "On one condition."
You pout, eyes on the shirt which is just far enough away that you'd have to step closer. And it's the cutest fucking thing they've ever seen.
You look back up at him, silently asking. "Sit and talk with us. The guards here are no fun!" His laugh makes you jump back further, he sounds like a mad pirate.
You look over to Merle, who just shrugs, "just get it over with so these guys will shut up. They're only talkative around you, they need an audience for their antics."
"We won't bite," Seonghwa chuckles with his teeth exposed, making you shiver.
"Fine, give it here." You take a single step forward, palm out infront of the blonde.
When you grab it and go to race away like always, his claws wrapping all the way around your wrist stops you, sharp edges threatening to slice your skin down to the bone. You scream your head off, silenced when Seonghwa coos softly, "sit with us, and talk."
"Let me go..." you plead, eyes frantically flicking to Merle, whose gun is drawn to Hongjoongs head from the border of the ash, waiting for him to take one more wrong move so he can rid the world of one of its greatest criminals.
"Sit, omega." You do so, slowly lowering to the floor with your wrist and life still in Hongjoongs hand. "You have your sewing kit with you, I can hear the buttons hitting the needle. So sit, stay, and talk while you fix it."
Once again, they're the ones caged in. But you're the one who's stuck.
One look to Merle tells you he probably wouldn't help you even if he could get to you. He lowers his gun as your tailbone hits the concrete floor.
Your thin work scrubs do little to fight the cold of the old flooring, one reason of many that you shake as you reach into your purse and get the small tin box.
Hongjoong releases your wrist and sits mirrored to you, hands perched on the bars in the gaps of the purple vine flower wrapped on them. Seonghwa comes to the corner of his side of the split cage and breathes in deeply through his nose, eyes locked in on your every movement. "So you're essentially the errand lady? Maid?"
"Yes..." You murmur under your breath as your fingers work to thread the needle, slowly backing away until you're out of reach, but still stuck in the blood ash with no one to rescue should the men infront of you decide to rip their cages open. You only stop backing away when you hear a warning growl.
You don't care to see which it came from, you just want to do this as quickly as possible and get far, far, away. They could have chose anyone to focus their annoying efforts on. Changbin, Merle, the warden. But no, just your luck.
"You live in the village, right? Were you born here?" Seonghwa continues to do the talking as you carefully fix the shirt.
      "Yes. And no."
A small hum from the one in front of you is a sign they want you to continue. "I was born to an overpopulated pack. They kicked me out when I turned eighteen. Our old alpha took me in." The hitch in your voice is a clear sign that it's a sore topic. And Hongjoong continues to poke the wound.
      "How did they find you?"
       "Woods."
       "Woods?"
You can't help the small growl of frustration, lip curling as you look up. "Woods."
The reaction is one you wouldn't have expected from a normal person, but then- they aren't normal.
They laugh, cooing over your gesture of anger. Compared to them, you seem like a teacup puppy. "My, my," the brunette chuckles breathily, "is that Solis coming to play?"
"At least she can," you snap, sent to the back of your own head as your wolf tries to defend you, "she isn't a caged mutt."
Hongjoong breaks out into a manic fit of laughter, while his paramour is the opposite: his eyes flick red before your own, sharp teeth on display in a show of dominance over your smaller ones that are subconsciously bared at him. "Watch it, omega." He spits his words with venom, "I won't be so nice when I get out of here."
You rip the extra thread with your claw, kicking the shirt across the floor so it sits at the bottom bar of Hongjoongs cage. His chest still wracks with laughter, watching as you sit up in a low squat so you're still level with the alpha.
It's clear that you aren't currently you. Your wolf has control of your mouth and body, crouched in a position akin to that of a dog ready to pounce as you hiss your words, "I'm going to laugh in your face as you hang."
"Aw, is that how dear old alpha died?"
"Cut it out!" Merle screams disinterested, eyes glued to his flimsy magazine.
"I heard he got gutted~" Hongjoong giggles, watching the color flicking in your eyes.
"I'll gut you!" Your threat only makes him laugh more.
"(Y/n)!" The voice of Hylyon breaks your wolf away from you immediately, falling to your bottom and crawling to the sound unwittingly. "You fucking idiot, Merle!"
She reaches over the blood ash and pulls you over the ring, letting you collapse into her as she drags you away, still throwing profanities at the incompetent guard. Hongjoong is laughing loudly. Seonghwa yelling at you to come back. The elevator cuts of his roar, the last thing you see through your blurry vision is his fist making a dent in the silver cage.
You fall onto the floor of the metal box. Thoughts flood your head too quickly for you to swim though them, making you drown and try to escape by releasing the pain with tears. You don't even notice when your friend turns her key in the elevator to make it stop in its tracks, you only see her when she sits right infront of you.
"Babes, calm down, I've got you," she reaches out slowly and places a hand on your leg, slowly rubbing her thumb over your knee.
"I can't go back up there... they're too strong, they make me feel like I'm suffocating," you splutter through gasps, "I'm too weak!"
"Hey, hey, you're spiraling!" She opens her arms and pulls you into her, letting you sob into her uniform. "In and out, girl," she holds the back of your neck securely, almost instantaneously making you calm. "I got you... I got you..."
You sit there for a good while, crying into her shoulder as you sort through your wracked brains.
Your alpha was gutted. Right in front of you. Because of you.
Unbeknownst to you, their tuned ears are still listening in, the elevator stuck within their ear shot as you begin mumbling your favorite song to yourself through tears.
˚➶ 。˚
The sound of claws slicing through the skin on your back rings in your ears. Though, you can't feel it. Your eyes are locked in on your own claws, dug into the hardwood floor of your humble home to keep yourself from being dragged.
You've been here a million times before.
Blood pooling off of your body and onto the frigid surface below you. Teeth sharp and bared to the moon though the open window, begging that she might let you survive. Eyes aglow with your instincts as your wolf tries with every fiber of her being to turn, but she knows it's no use.
The distorted voice above you drips with mocking venom, a chuckle as its owner realizes you can't even fight back like other wolves might: by letting your wolf fully transform.
The wind blows through your curtains, washes your body in the artic breeze. The snowflakes on your windowsill are so delicate, all of their features fade into a blurry mush as they make contact. They melt, dripping down your wall.
     This time it's different.
You're turned over, gaping wounds slammed into the floor as always, but when you look up to your aggressor it's different.
His eyes aren't the yellow of a rouge, but the red of an alpha. His hair isn't that unruly blonde curl that you pulled at frantically, that you can still feel on your finger tips when your hands are unoccupied. It's long, shining, soft looking dark locks.
You fall through the floor into another time, another place.
Face first into the snow: your hands, shaking with adrenaline, do little to catch you.
       You don't remember this.
       This isn't right.
       This isn't your nightmare.
You find yourself in a clearing in a forrest, the densely packed trees creating a bubble of nature around you. "(Y/n)?"
You whip around, coming face to face with an unfamiliar man. Almost face to face. If he weren't floating a few feet in the air.
His legs are crossed under him, hands facing palms up on his knees.
"Don't worry. You're only dreaming." He speaks calmly as he floats around you in a circle, like a shark examining its potential prey.
You follow him with your feral gaze, that familiar feeling of an adrenaline crash quickly approaching.
You know you're only dreaming. You've had that last dream more times than you can count in the past three years. It always plays the same. But not this time. You're only slightly thankful that you don't have to witness your alphas death again, but the gratefulness is overshadowed by confusion.
"Are you an angel?" You whisper, watching the man's soft and rounded features as he comes to a stop in the air in front of you and gracefully lowers to his feet.
"I can be, if that's what you want me to be. I'm only here to watch your dreams, fight off the nightmares."
"Why?" You feel distant from your body, watching powerlessly as your hand takes his, letting him lead you out of the clearing and into the darkness of the woods.
It disappears around you, warping into a spring day on a familiar path.
"A favor for a friend."
With the snow gone, you're in your spot, your old towel on the dewy grass with a book laid atop of it and the soil beneath your feet as you approach.
"Enjoy."
The hand vanishes from your own, leaving you alone on the side of the path. You look for him. But he's just an eidolon, watching you from the sky where you can't see him.
You warily take a seat and pick up the book.
˚➶ 。˚
They don't see you again through the week. And when the next Monday comes by, their sheets are removed while they're in the showers.
Hongjoong sighs from his place on the floor, for the tenth time in the past half hour.
"Hong-"
"I miss our omega!" He whines, cutting him off.
Seonghwa stands from his cot, slowly lowering to the floor next to their shared bars. He lays flat on his back, mirroring Hongjoong as he tilts his head to look at him. "Soon." Is the only word he utters.
He reaches through the silver bars, ignoring the sting as the fresh wolfsbane brushes his wrist, and takes his hand.
The both of them look up at the ceiling through the bars of their enclosure.
Your scent is long gone from the room, and their noses can barely pick up on it through the rest of the village and prison.
"I want out of here," Hongjoong whispers, so lowly that the guard can't hear him from outside of the door, "when are they coming? Your bond with them is stronger, I can barely feel them..."
"Soon." He repeats, "very soon, Joong."
˚➶ 。˚
Tuesday you manage to talk your coworker into sweeping the top floor, and you rejoice in the freedom of not being under the alpha's gazes. You've worked out a good schedule to completely avoid seeing them, and it's made your job feel like it's back to normal.
You can still smell their power wafting through the AC, but it's bearable. You distract yourself in your free time by making excuses to be on the second floor with Chungha and the other omegas.
Today, that excuse is 'omegas need physical outlets too', and the warden let you bring up buckets and brushes so you could all scrub the base boards.
"Oh, I've got one!" The omega to your left speaks, lifting his brush in the air in a eureka moment, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre or... Halloween?"
Chungha scoffs with a smile as she scrubs away to your right, "are we including sequels? There's like a billion!"
"No, stand alone original," Beomhan goes back to scrubbing as he continues, "both of them are classics but which one is a better classic?"
"Halloween is the classic slasher, Texas Chainsaw is like psychological horror," you chime in as you dip your brush into the bucket, sitting on your calves as you take a breather. "I think it's not fair to compare them... but Texas Chainsaw, definitely."
They laugh along with you, and Chungha shakes her head, "Halloween has more rewatchablity. You don't want to see Sally go through that more than once, but Laurie Strode fights harder and it's more like, yeah I'll watch her kick ass again."
"Cinematography in both is so beaut-"
The lights above you flicker before they shut down completely. People start muttering their concerns, quite a few of them looking your way. "Don't worry!" You hop up and get your keys from your pocket as you make your way to the locked stairwell. "I'll go and see what's going on, keep scrub-"
A loud siren echoes in the brick walls, shocking you all to cover your ears.
Everyone looks to you for answers, and you don't have any as your brain starts throwing theory after theory at you.
"It's okay, go back to your cells! Shut them behind you!"
They listened, however grumpy about it. The cell doors locked automatically when they were closed.
"Hey, what's going on?" Chungha asked over the clanging of the cell doors. The two of you, along with Beomhan, were the only ones left after a moment.
"Go back to your cell, Beomhan, hurry."
"No, what's happening?"
The sirens cut off and leave you in a pregnant pause for a moment as you simply try to calm yourself.
A deafening scream ricochets through the air vent next to you, scaring you into their arms as you all stare at it.
Usually, the air flow covered the echoes throughout the floors. But with no power, you could hear everything- albeit muffled.
Yells and shouts. Gunshots. Growls. Unidentifiable chaos. And above all, your ears tuned in on a rumbling, calm voice through it all.
"Ain't no sunshine when she's gone... It's not warm when she's away..."
Your eyes widen as theres a bang at the stairwell door. "Go, go!" You grab each of their wrists, dragging them into Chungha's cell. You slam it behind you and let down the sheet she has over it, backing away and staring at it as you hear the door hit the wall behind it with the force it's slammed open.
"(Y/n), what the hells happening?!"
You slap your hand over his mouth and bring a finger to your lips. The other omegas on the floor are all making a ruckus, and you can only hope that it will confuse that unfortunately familiar voice so he can't find you.
˚➶ 。˚
The beta in the large room ignores Hongjoong as he continuously asks after 'the pretty omega'.
He just sweeps and sweeps, finally understanding why you hate coming up here. He has his back turned to the cage, and consequently, to the windows.
High on the tall walls, the narrow glass is opened from the outside. Seonghwa smirks, and gestures his head to it. Hongjoongs gaze follows, and he has to slap a hand over his mouth so he doesn't laugh.
A skinny figure is sliding its way in through the window sideways.
He drops to the floor as silent as a mouse, landing on his knees and grinning wildly up at his alphas.
Hongjoong throws his head back in preemptive relief, while Seonghwa is watching with a similarly wide smile as the man walks straight through the blood ash, breaking the circle with the tip of his shoe.
The worker still has his back turned as the lock on Seonghwas cage is picked with a long claw. He doesn't even know what's happening as the next thing he knows, he's thrown across the floor.
Blood ash knocks up around him, coughs wracking his body as he looks up to his assailant.
Park Seonghwa, newly freed from his cage, looks down at the worker with his eyes glowing red.
"Now usually..." He begins, crouching to be face to face with him, "I'd go through this whole place just for the fuck of it and cause some beautiful chaos. But I'm looking for someone."
"(Y/n)?" He stutters out, backing away only to knock into Hongjoongs legs. Stuck between the two criminals, he chooses his own head over yours. "The second floor! Sh-she's on the second floor!"
"Let's go get our omega, Joong."
Nonchalantly, Hongjoong draws his claws and slices the neck of the worker. He hops over the gurgling body and follows his mate with an ecstatic giggle.
He wraps his arm around the skinny man's shoulder, "Wooyoung! Our savior~" He ruffles his hair and laughs as he groans.
"You guys know I've got your back. Seonghwa told me about your new omega, you seem excited," he mimics the alphas smile as the eldest of the trio opens the doors.
The guard on duty, who happens to be Merle, looks back with wide eyes.
"Yes, oh yes!" His eyes roll to the back of his head, touching the stitches you made on his shirt. "Oh, you'll love her, she's a feisty omega just like you."
He makes a run for the fire alarm at the end of the hall, but Seonghwa is faster. The beta is tackled to the floor.
"I'm glad you both will have a buffer, tired of you always at each other's throats during ruts," Wooyoung laughs, looking down at the guard as they pass.
Seonghwa had simply torn out his throat with his bare hand and made his way to the elevator, holding it open with an impatient glare.
The door closes behind them and the only sound is Seonghwa's heavy breathing.
"You're real eager, huh?" The omega breaks the silence, "San should be coming in any second to block the main door. No one will get past him. The rest are in the village, just as we planned."
"Good, she'll need somewhere to rest before we take off....Fucking idiots, thinking they can cage us." He groans, eyes flicking to the number above the doors as it dings.
       3? "Fuck."
The door opens and the woman on the other side takes a moment, nearly walking in before she notices the crimson liquid dripping from Segonhwa's hand.
She makes it halfway through the hall before Hongjoong pounces on her, fighting her effortlessly as if she's a rag doll. The guards run to try and save her, but it's too late for the unfortunate woman, and they just signed their own death certificate as well.
Seonghwa and Wooyoung make quick work of them, but their plan is already foiled as the lights flicker to a halt and leave them bathed in dim light of the setting sun in the few windows.
The alphas fall to their knees as their sensitive ears are bombarded with a loud, incessant siren.
"Wooyoung!" Hongjoong screams over it, "go turn that shit off!"
He nods, taking the keys off a mauled guard and dashing to the stair well, leaving it unlocked behind him.
Hongjoong crawls to Seonghwa, collapsing into his chest with his teeth clenched and palms over his ears. His ears were always more sensitive.
His partner places his hands over his, thumb running over his own. He looks down with his eyes glowing red, meeting pure black.
He leans and kisses him deeply, all teeth and bloodlust, trying to merge their souls until the sirens cuts off.
Their foreheads rest together, ignoring the chaos of the beta's around them yelling to be released.
"Are you ready?" Seonghwa whispers, gathering another set of keys from the fallen workers. He throws it to one of the locked in prisoners, a smirk on his face. So much for not creating chaos.
"Let's go," Hongjoong holds the door to the staircase open and lets him go first with a dramatic bow.
It takes one scream to start the havoc. The entire prison is filled with the sickly sweet sounds of caged animals with a taste of freedom. Gunfire and howls bring a smile to Seonghwa's lips as he sings out,
"Ain't no sunshine when she's gone... it's not warm when she's away..."
He hums the song with a wide grin as Hongjoong kicks the door. It takes only one more kick before it slams open and bangs against the cement wall.
The omegas in their cells are all yelling at them, at one another, in general.
Hongjoong kicks one of the many buckets on the floor over and groans, "here I was thinking she'd make it easy. I guess we'll have to go cell to cell!" A small spike of a heartbeat in his ears makes him smirk, following the sound that he memorized the first time he'd heard it.
Seonghwa follows him, immediately zeroing in on the same cell. He comes to stand infront of it, his breath making the blanket behind the bars sway slightly.
You see both pairs of orange slip on shoes and you feel your heart stop in your chest.
You cower further into the corner with Beomhan as Chungha stands in front of you. The sheet is grabbed from the outside and ripped away, making you all shriek.
"Were you playing hide and seek?" Hongjoong giggles, throwing the blanket to the side with his eyes never leaving you, a scowl growing on his features as he notices the way you're curling into another wolf. "You should know better than to hide from your alphas. Come on out."
You shake your head, gaze lowered as you hold onto the back of Chungha's uniform.
"(Y/n)," the saturnine man speaks, "come here."
"No, leave us alone! Leave me alone," your voice cracks despite how strong you want to appear.
"If I have to drag you out of here I will be very angry. Just come on, do us all a solid."
"No-"
"Open the fucking door!"
"No!"
The cells were built to hold lycans, which means lycans shouldn't be able to get in... right?
"Fucking-" Seonghwa hits the bars, leaving a dent and making the three of you jump.
Hongjoong leans on his tiptoes and whispers into his ear, and whatever he says makes his eyes begin glowing a murderous red.
He slowly wraps his clawed fingers around the bars, and the way Hongjoong backs up makes your stomach churn in anxiety of what's about to come.
And it was warranted anxiety.
With a loud growl and a single tug, he rips the silver bars from their cemented place in the wall, causing a large crack to form.
"Holy shit!" Beomhan screams, arms wrapping around you tightly.
Chungha is ripped from the small room and tossed all the way across the room, back colliding with the wall and leaving her unconscious.
You yelp as Beomhan meets a similar fate, torn from your grasp and out into the rec room like he's a mere bag of trash. You see Hongjoong approaching him with his long black claws out and proud, but your vision is blocked by the large alpha infront of you.
Your hips back into Chungha's small desk, and your hands clamber around, landing on something small and solid.
You swing it at his head and he ducks, grabbing your wrist and dragging you out of the small cell. You manage to swing again, making contact with his head. The small ceramic bowl shatters into pieces and leaves him only temporarily stunned, glaring down at you.
"Fucking stop," he growls quietly, shoving you to the floor.
He lets you shuffle away, only because Hongjoong is right behind you.
The blonde chuckles, pulling you back up by your collar and crashing you face first into one of the round steel tables bolted into the floor. "Ow!" You yell out as your head makes contact, fighting against him with all your might, but it's fruitless.
He kicks your feet apart and stands between them, leaning his chest over your back. You can feel his nose against your neck, over the healed skin above your scent blocker. You snap your eyes shut and do the only thing you can thing of.
You can't fight. Begging to these men would be useless. You can't disappear into the floor like you wish you could.
"Please, Selene," you pray to the moon, tears slipping past your shut eyes as you feel the claws of the mad man on your neck.
You cry out as the other worldly sharp nails slice into your neck, slowly and almost surgically. His other hand is cupped on the back of your head, keeping your head pushed into the cold metal. "Shhhh," he gushes above you, "it's okay."
Seonghwa sits at one of the bolted stools and rests his head to mimic yours, cheek on the table. "We'd've been more gentle if you listened, omega."
Between the tips of his claws, Hongjoong holds your small alloy scent blocker. Almost instantaneously, your natural scent floods their senses.
Their deep rumbles of pleasure make you snap your eyes back shut, missing the way Hongjoong stomps on the device.
"Fuck," the wolf behind you curses, body pressed close to yours like he wants to fuse together, he places his hands in yours and tells you, "you might want to squeeze."
"Wh- ah!" Your scream echoes over all of the other chaos as his teeth sink into your left shoulder, and you do just that. Your clawed hands squeeze around his, sharp nails knocking together as you hold on like his hands are the only thing keeping you from slipping to the underworld.
It feels like a million pins and needles washing over you, leaving you paralyzed in place as he purrs into the wound, making your bones vibrate.
A warm, comforting hand on your cheek makes you force your eyes open. Seonghwa smiles sweetly, like he isn't witnessing one of the biggest crimes in the lycan community.
Forcing someone to be your mate for the rest of your mortal lives.
"Breathe, omega," his words make you realize you're holding your breath, and you let it out as a sob. "That's it," he hums, rubbing his hand down your head with all the gentleness he's capable of.
Hongjoong pulls away with a moan, resting his head between your shoulder blades as he catches his breath.
Your wolf is already calling for her mate, howling in the back of your mind as you cry.
"Don't worry, we'll take good care of you." Seonghwas words have little time to register in your adrenaline filled head as he turns your head the other way and climbs up on the table.
It hits you when he moves your ruffled shirt away from your right shoulder. "No! No!" You find yourself with two million pins and needles in your body now, squeezing Hongjoongs hands all over again as Seonghwa sinks his teeth into you at an excruciatingly slow pace.
They're bigger, or maybe they only feel that way because your body is on fire. You sob freely, feet stomping pathetically to cope with the pain.
What little comfort you find in Hongjoong squeezing your hands back is washed away by the simple fact that it's him. That blood from his claws drips onto your skin.
It feels like a century later that the older alpha finally pulls away, a bellow of pleasure as he runs his thumb over the wound: making you jump.
"Your turn, omega."
The weight of their bodies is gone, but you can't bring yourself to move. Out of fear, maybe. Pain, perhaps.
"You know what happens to wolves who don't finish the bond." Hongjoong purrs teasingly, knowing full well that you will have to mark them back least you want to suffer at the hands of the moon herself.
A life with them was better than being turned inside out and left to the elements. Just barely.
You lift yourself on shaking arms and nearly fall as you turn. You would have if not for Hongjoong catching you. He lifts you back to the table much gentler, letting your legs dangle as you sit on the table top.
"Why... why me?"
"... Have you heard of Harry Talbot?"
"Harry Talbots a myth... what's he got to do with your fuck shit?"
"Harry Talbot was the first wolf that could smell his mate. He could tell just by her smell, they were meant to be." Hongjoong slots his way between your legs, smiling down at you with his bloody teeth, "her smell called to him. It wasn't just good. It wasn't a normal scent. It was...alluring."
You were growing dizzy, head spinning.
"Strong alphas can sniff out their true mate. And, baby, we're the strongest that there is."
You have to force yourself to swallow. Have to remember to breathe.
"Why? Because you're... alluring."
That's the last thing you can register before your world turns dark.

Mother Miranda is manipulative, she likely changes certain aspects of herself when she is around a specific person or group of people. Why? To gain their trust, to have them love her until she desires to take advantage of it. It’s all to get what she wants, which is rats waiting to be used for experiments that will soon lead to the rebirth of her baby girl.
Mother Miranda is intelligent, very intelligent. She went from being just a mother to her child to becoming a mad scientist who studies something so advanced and complicated. Even though she didn’t succeed in her experiments the majority of the time, she still was able to do something many people couldn’t do. She was able to make four, possibly eight, successful super-beings out of the mold/cadou. All in 100 years. Not with a background dealing with scientific studies, just with the will to get back what she wants. Eva.
Mother Miranda is selfish, she doesn’t care about the people in the village who are willing to worship her and her ideals to the grave. She doesn’t care for the four lords who are willing to listen to her commands follow them through and be obedient to her. Well at least the majority of them. Miranda doesn’t care for that, she doesn’t care to see these people happy. All she wants is to see her dreams fulfilled and to take back what was unrightfully stolen from her, her daughter.
Mother Miranda is a perfectionist, she doesn’t settle for anything less than what she wants for her daughter. She could have taken Eveline, the girl who had the same DNA as her true daughter, the same girl who likely had the same face as her true daughter. Even with all of the things Eveline had in common with Eva and even being able to control the mold to a devastating extent, Miranda still called her a failure. She saw a flaw in Eveline, so that means that Eveline isn’t the right vessel to bring back her daughter. Her daughter must have the perfect body, the perfect host. Her Eva deserves it more than anything.
Mother Miranda is sadistic, I believe that woman like seeing people in pain. She probably lets out a chuckle every time she sees a lycan tearing up the body of a poor villager from a distance. There’s no doubting the fact she liked seeing the villagers afraid of her, afraid of what wonders around the borders of their village, afraid if they would be plucked away from their life in the village by one of her lords.
Mother Miranda is a nerd, sharp turn there, but it’s true. That woman likely talks about the mold and her experiments like it is the most interesting thing ever, because it is, to her. Oswell E. Spencer, the madman who is a co-founder of umbrella corporations, only confirmed this when he talked about the late-night scientific talks they had together during his stay in Miranda’s village. While Spencer likely started up these conversations, I could only imagine Miranda doing most of the talking once she realizes it’s about something she is interested in.
Mother Miranda is obsessive, she is obsessed over the mold, and she is obsessed over bringing back her beloved daughter. Miranda is like a train station that only has two stops, her mind only goes from one thing to another. Yeah, she focuses on other things like making sure the villagers are behaving accordingly, making sure the lords are doing what she commands, and making sure she keeps up her image to the oblivious villagers. But mainly her focus is set on two things, expanding her knowledge of the mold and bringing back Eva. It just shows how obsessed this woman can get, she does it with her whole soul.
Mother Miranda is unpredictable, you can’t have a set idea of how you believe Miranda operates. No, no, that’s not going to work for you at all. She can be doing things you know that she always does and then she suddenly is doing something completely different. It’s crazy, just like how she is. Speaking of crazy.
Mother Miranda is bat-shit insane, there is no denying it because it’s just one of her main personality traits. Chris, Ethan, and Heisenberg were all correct in saying that she’s a crazy woman. This woman decided that she was going to take the mold she found in a cave she wanted to die in, and put it in the villagers. Who thinks of that? What sane person does that? She experimented with likely more than a thousand bodies, elderly, adults, teens, children, and babies. I mean I doubt that woman had a limit she didn’t cross because she is just that unhinged.
Those are just traits I remember studying about her by memory. But you get the gist. Miranda is just crazy all in all, but she is doing it all for her daughter, could you blame her? So what if she has a few (many) bad traits? You have to love a woman who has the mannerisms of a crow and the persistence that is the size of the sun.
Now just imagine how these traits would affect you if you were to somehow gain to woman’s interest so much that she became curious. The more curious she gets the more she learns about you, and if you somehow can do things that shock her, it will lead to more. It will lead to her wanting to know more and more like a greedy salesman. She doesn’t take any interest in most things, so when you somehow make your way into her thoughts more than once while she is doing what she does best in her lab, good luck to you. Because now you have the village priestess becoming slowly obsessed with you. And both good and bad things come out of it. So have fun being a new major thing crow mama’s thinks about all the time.
Took a break from writing my one-shot to make this random ramble post. Anyway, look at this new header of my wife >:)

“That's all, I guess,” you sighed after your last trip to the estate, one from which you would never return.
Those cracked walls, that humid and floral essence that made up the old mansion were not simply a place to visit. It was finally your home.
Of course, a mansion was much better than the humble cabin you had in the village.
You were always a happy, cheerful girl, one who saw the good side of things, the light in the middle of so much darkness. It might seem very daring to smile at the life that had been offered to you, but still, you did it.
The Cult, the Black Gods, Mother Miranda, the Lords... Everything that surrounded you seemed enough reason to bow your head and pray for, every night that you closed your eyes, you would still be able to open them again.
Fear, submission and faith were things you lived with, that you ignored as much as possible so your smile would never disappear. Neither the lycans, nor all the sermons, nor the rumors surrounding those divine authorities scared you.
In that village there was no bogeyman, no deceiving witch, no terrible wolf with an insatiable appetite. No, the fear with which mothers cradled their children didn’t come from legends, the danger was real. But… did you care? Not at all.
Living alone in that dark world seemed terrible, but actually, it wasn't.
But your days of solitude, your humble and quiet life in that old cabin would not last forever.
As if you were the pagan mockery of the Gods, you made your way through that dark corridor, into that blind spot that people refused to look at. The Lords seemed like monsters, but deep down, they were people.
That almost utopian thought with which your eyes turned to those dangerous figures could have cost your life, but it didn't.
Among all those mysterious beings, there was one in particular that had caught your attention: A woman who was said to be deformed, sick, dangerous, disturbed, the youngest of the Four Lords, the woman in mourning, covered with a black veil, Donna Beneviento.
It didn't matter how many times you had heard absurd things about that woman, about what she was capable of. Curiosity overcame the irrational fear of the unknown.
Convinced that things weren't so dire, that those rumors were an exaggeration, you decided to put your own optimism to the test, to put the joy of living you had to deal with every day to the test.
Meeting that lonely woman was a risky step, knowing that, indeed, the rumors were true but bordered on legend, was the best decision of your life. Selling your handmade clay works, you got a glimpse of the mystery surrounding that woman in black.
You weren't particularly good at making and painting vases, but to her, it seemed like art. Maybe it was just because the clay resembled the porcelain she worked with.
What seemed like an innocent first visit, led to many more, led to continuous commissions from the lady in black. It could be a boost to your humble business but... You never saw it that way, especially when, after a rainy afternoon, you stopped being a saleswoman to become a guest.
A quiet dinner, an unknown kindness… Donna was strange, yes, a few words woman, with a hoarse voice, a stoic pose. As time went by, the rain and the inclement weather stopped being excuses for you to spend time with her.
Like a story marinated over time, cooked slowly with patience and curiosity, you came to understand that the joy that characterized you only came to light when Lady Beneviento was near.
Sad in her solitude, happy in your company.
It seemed like a difficult phrase to decipher until, after seeing the horror that the veil claimed to contain, you gave a name to your feelings. Yes, you loved her. She was the most beautiful woman in the world.
Nothing, not her scar, not her problems were reasons to come back home that night, the night in which your lips finally met.
It was an unexpected love, a welcome one, a love you would never regret, one you would enjoy day after day until, after her constant insistence, you decided to take that last step and move in with her.
Her little pleas, her fear of losing you, her crises… Everything would be much better with you always by her side. You couldn't say why it took you so long to accept that house, with that woman, even with that sinister and rude doll, was the place you wanted to be.
“Is that all?” the lady asked, nervously playing with her hands while you looked around at that pile of stuff you brought from your old cabin.
You looked at her and nodded with a smile, walking slowly to calm her nerves with a small kiss.
“Well, I was missing, but here I’m,” you whispered affectionately, losing yourself in the brightness of that beautiful eye, of those features that only you had the privilege of admiring.
“So... I won't have to wait to see you through the window anymore?” Donna asked, gently grabbing your waist while you shook your head.
“No,” you said amused, panting when, with a grip typical of romantic novels, the lady bent you over, held by her grip while she kissed you again, in a way that you could only see in her movies. “Hey... Donna...”
She laughed after kissing and again, and again. That woman with a hidden smile, who never laughed, who didn't feel, who had no heart according to her legend, seemed happier than ever.
“I'm so happy, tesoro...” she murmured, helping you to get up, playing with your hands affectionately. “I can't believe you're here…”
“Well, well,” you laughed, fighting those quick kisses with which your face was adored. “Anyway, it was like I lived here.”
“But you always left… You always left me…” she lamented, caressing your cheek.
The sparkle in her eye was erratic. She could transmit happiness, but also madness, sadness and fear at the same. Luckily, you had already gotten used to it.
You shook your head, sighing as you heard her verbalize her greatest fears again; the fear of you abandoning her, of being alone again.
Only your smile was enough to calm her nerves, just one look, one to which the two of you had become hopelessly addicted.
“Ahhhhhhh!” an irritating squeal took you out of that romantic moment.
It shouldn't have surprised you. Donna and you weren't the only inhabitants of that place. Always by Donna's side, always ready to remind you of your simple village status, there was Angie.
“Angie, per favore… Don't squeal…” the lady whispered, annoyed by the interruption.
You shook your head, downplaying it, pulling her chin so your lips would collide again.
“Donna, Donna!” the doll shouted, ignoring her owner, running towards you and pulling her dress hard. “Donna, you fool, stop mixing fluids with (Y/N) and listen to me!”
“Oh, Angie, che vuoi?” Donna said, with a look of disgust, causing the puppet to let her dress go.
“Mo-Mo-Mo-Mo monster…” the doll stammered, pointing towards your stuff. “Monster!”
“Monster?” you asked amused, looking where the puppet had pointed. Oh, yes, surely for Angie it would be a monster. “Oh, that's right…”
You separated painfully from your lover, walking slowly towards your luggage and taking the box the doll indicated.
“Don't bring it near here!” Angie protested, taking refuge behind her owner, who looked at you with curiosity. “Donna, a monster…”
“It's not a monster,” you said, with a firm voice, opening the small gate of the box and taking out its contents.
“Don't take it out of there, silly!” the puppet shrieked again, causing a sigh of annoyance from the doll maker, who seemed to look at you perplexed.
“Why?” you asked amused, cradling your pet in your arms. “It's such a cutie…”
Oh, that's right. You forgot to mention to the lady in black that you didn't live completely alone. On one of your days out, you found what would become your faithful companion, a cat, one with black fur and bright eyes.
“(Y/N)? What is that?” Donna asked with a frown, looking at the feline suspiciously.
You, with the animal still in your arms, smiled, moving his paw in greeting.
“A cat,” you said amused. Donna was confused, gently shaking her head. “My cat.”
“Your cat? Since when do you have a cat?” the lady asked, stepping back, with Angie cowardly taking refuge behind her dress.
“Oh, for a couple of years now,” you explained, extending the animal's paw towards her again. “Meet Bubbles.”
“Bubbles,” she repeated, with a confused sigh.
You nodded, proud of your cat, of its black fur, of the company it offered to your strange life.
“Yeah, I found him in the river. The poor thing was frozen to death. I rescued him and well...” you said, petting the animal, who purred peacefully in your arms.
“Get that furry thing out of my sight, silly!” Angie shouted, comically poking her head out.
You put on a haughty look, hugging the animal closer while shaking your head.
“Oh, come on, are you scared of a kitten?” you joked, putting it down on the floor.
“I'm not scared!” Angie shouted, following the curious animal with her gaze.
“Um, (Y/N)...” Donna said, in a low tone, approaching again but trying to surround the cat instead of interrupting its exploration. “You didn't tell me you had a cat.”
“Didn’t I? I think I really did,” you said, blinking in confusion. “Don't you listen to me when I talk to you, darling?” you joked.
Donna smiled shyly, not finding the right words.
“Yes, I... You're just so beautiful...” she sighed, biting her lip and running a soft hand over your neck. “Sometimes I get lost in your gaze.”
“Donna...” you murmured, laughing amused by the compliment, by her eternal flattery. “Hey, there's no problem, right?”
Donna moved away a little, glancing sideways at the cat, which also seemed attentive to the conversation.
“No, but...” she whispered, scratching the back of her neck. “(Y/N), I... I wasn't expecting a cat.”
“Relax, it's a good boy,” you said, with an innocent look.
The lady laughed nervously, shaking her head.
“Good? He’s a scratching and biting machine! He can’t stay here!” Angie protested, running away from the animal, which seemed to have caught a curious interest in the doll, who fled cowardly.
“You’re a biting and scratching machine too, and here you are,” you said in a cocky tone, crossing your arms.
“I’m the Great Angie, silly,” said the doll, comically running away from Bubbles. “I live here, not like that furry thing.”
“The Great Angie…” you muttered, rolling your eyes, seeing how Donna seemed to think the same as her doll, looking at your cat distrustfully. “Come on, it’s just a cat.”
“A cat…” Donna sighed, blinking erratically. “(Y/N) I don’t know if it’s a good idea.”
“Why not? He keeps a lot of company,” you said, a little worried about the lady’s reaction.
“Yes, but…” Donna said, tilting her head towards the animal, which comically, like in a comedy movie, did the same. “What if he scratches the furniture?”
“He won't,” you answered immediately, starting to get nervous.
“Oh, okay but…” she murmured, stopping looking at the animal and getting closer to you. “My, my dolls, (Y/N), he might, might ruin them.”
“Yes, and that includes me!” Angie added, without taking her eyes off your furry companion.
“If you don't want him to live with us, say it clearly, Donna,” you said, with a cold look.
“It's not that, it's just…” she said, breathing heavily, walking towards you, putting her legs over the cat and grabbing your shoulders. “He could, he could stay on the grounds and then he'd have… Freedom to… Well, to do cat stuff.”
“No, I'm not leaving him,” you denied, with a more intense look. “He's my friend.”
“Your friend…” Donna snorted, turning her head back to the cat, which was walking elegantly around you. “Tesoro, I…”
“He was so alone…” you said, pouting. “You can't ask me to leave him…”
“I didn't say that,” the lady said, frowning.
Okay, plan B.
“Please, Donna…” you said in a sweet voice, bringing your hands together and making puppy dog eyes as you leaned towards her. “Let him stay… Please…”
“Don't get fooled, Donna! She's a manipulator!” Angie squealed, eliciting a subtle growl from you, who never lost that innocent look.
“Please, please…” you insisted, gracefully moving your lower lip, your eyes shining.
“Oh, Io…” she stammered, looking at you and then at the cat repeatedly. “But, but…”
You tilted your head, emphasizing your pout.
“Va bene…” she finally sighed, causing you to throw yourself into her arms with a dazzling smile, covering her cheek with kisses.
“Mmm, thank you, thank you, thank you,” you said as you jumped for joy, picking up your pet from the floor. “Did you hear that, Bubbles? You can stay.”
“But, but…” Donna interrupted, putting a hand on your chest to get you to move away. “You’ll be the one to take care of him.”
“Sure,” you said, nodding, kissing the cat’s head, which purred pleased. “Say hello, Bubbles… Say hello, Donna… Come on, pet him.”
“Um, I…” the lady stammered, slowly bringing her hand closer to the animal, a trembling hand that passed through the cat's black fur. He meowed surprisingly, causing the lady to back away in fear.
“Oh, don't be scared,” you said amused. “He’s an adorable ball of fur, you'll see.”
“If, if you say so…” she murmured, playing with her hands, with a confused look.
“Donna, you silly…” Angie hissed, tugging at her dress again. “He's an evil beast. He's going to bring us a lot of trouble.”
“You are an evil beast,” you said, amused, placing some of your stuff away while owner and doll watched the movements of the cat, which sniffed around curiously. “Honey, help me with this.”
Donna approached cautiously, helping you move your delicate clay bowls. “Do you think there will be room for everything?”
“Yes,” she answered dryly, without losing sight of the animal, which climbed onto the small table where Donna sewed from time to time, looking with interest at one of the wool balls.
“Stop worrying...” you sighed, cupping her face in your hands. “He won't give you any trouble.”
“Hey, you furry burglar!” Angie shrieked, causing a loud scandal when Bubbles grabbed one of the balls in his jaws, fleeing in terror, leaving a trail of yellow thread around the house.
Donna looked at you with a frown while you blushed.
“Um, I'll buy you another one…” you said shyly, scratching your head.
“You mean I'll buy another one,” she said in a low voice, sighing annoyed.
You shrugged your shoulders with the best weapon you had, your innocent smile.
The lady in black reluctantly agreed to live with Bubbles, although she wasn’t able to hide her dissatisfaction. You were not going to get rid of your companion, that was clear. You would have to work very hard for Donna to adapt to this new member of the family.
The days passed calmly, well, relatively calmly. The doll maker was tense, she wasn’t comfortable with the intruder. She always watched him from afar. She didn’t approach him despite the fact that, since you rescued him, he didn’t stop following you everywhere, day and night.
“Donna, please…” you begged one night already tucked into bed, while the brunette was quietly reading, or rather, pretending to read.
“No,” she replied with a sigh, with a cold look.
“He misses me,” you repeated, using your best acting skills.
The days were simple. The house was big and it wasn't hard for the lady in black to avoid contact with the cat, but… The nights, oh, the nights were very different.
The agonizing meows of poor Bubbles echoed off the walls of the mansion despite being in the basement. You, like every night, begged your girlfriend to let you take him down with you.
“I said no,” Donna hissed, frowning every time the cat meowed desperately. “Oh, taci… Taci!”
“He meows because he wants to be here with us,” you explained, pointing at the ceiling. “He was used to sleeping with me.”
“Well, he'll have to get used to not doing that,” Donna murmured, turning a page of that book she wasn't reading.
“But Donna…” you said with a sad look. “I promise he won't bother us, just…”
“No,” she insisted, shaking her head. “He can meow all night long if he wants.”
“You're… Ugh,” you protested, waving your arms exaggeratedly. The lady in black didn't flinch at your gestures, blinking disinterestedly. “You're a grumpy witch.”
“What did you call me?” she hissed, with a dangerous look.
“Grumpy witch,” you repeated cockily, looking at your nails with disinterest. “Aren't you a powerful Lord? I can't believe you're scared of a cat…”
“I'm not scared of the cat,” Donna protested, putting the book on her lap, gritting her teeth.
“Please…” you said amused. “You haven't been near him in two weeks. He scares you, admit it.”
“Okay, yes, he scares me,” she said, shaking her head. “I'm scared because he'll destroy my dolls, and my house.”
“Our house,” you joked, with a raised finger. “And he doesn't do that, you've already know.”
“Mm, yes, I've seen how, mysteriously, all my wool balls have disappeared, and how curious, that thing always seems to be present at the crime scene,” the lady in black commented, with a proud look.
“Oh, you're such a great detective,” you mocked, running a hand over her shoulders and kissing her cheek. “It must be very stressful for him to be in a new place, you have to understand.”
“No, it's not stressful for him, it's stressful for me,” she said, gently pushing you away. “Shut up once and for all!”
“Shhh, don't yell,” you protested. “He would shut up if you let him down.”
“No,” she said again, with a dark look.
You shrugged and lay down on the bed.
“Fine, enjoy the concert then,” you said angrily, covering yourself with the sheets.
Donna sighed, getting a little closer to you and resting her head on your shoulder.
“I think we could do something to distract ourselves,” she purred in your ear, kissing your neck. You tried not to smile at that seductive display of affection, but you couldn't help it.
“Mm, what are you thinking?” you said, with a mischievous smile, letting the lady lay you down on your back while kissing you.
“I don't know...” she whispered with a mischievous smile.
“Meow”
“Ah!” Donna squealed, when a too close meow interrupted what seemed like a night of passion.
Bubbles appeared on the floor of the room, sitting, looking at you with curiosity.
“Bubbles!” you shouted, a bit scared too. “But what are you doing here?”
“I let him go down!” Angie said, entering the room too, with her hands on her hips. “He wouldn't stop meowing!”
“Angie…” Donna protested, moving away from you and looking at the cat with distrust.
“I can’t sleep with that evil beast next to me!” the doll protested.
“Were you sleeping?” you asked, stroking the cat, who had climbed onto the bed, satisfied, rubbing himself on your body. “Are you even aware of being sleepy?”
“You don't have a brain and you’re alive, so don't ask stupid questions,” Angie mocked, with a cocky pose.
“No, no, get down,” Donna said, pushing the animal, who, apparently, wanted to greet her too. “Down, down.”
“See? He just wants some company,” you said, watching how, despite Donna's rejection, the animal insisted, climbing onto the bed again and again.
“Angie…” she sighed when the puppet also climbed onto the bed, settling into her favorite spot, between you two. “Go away, and take that furry thing with you.”
“No! If he stays, so do I,” the doll said, pushing you. “Get away, silly.”
You laughed in amusement, shaking your head.
“Well, it looks like we have company tonight,” you commented, letting your pet lay down net to you.
Donna groaned and turned around.
“Just tonight, you hear me?” she hissed, turning off the light.
“Yes, yes…” you said amused, closing your eyes.
Of course, that warning didn’t come to pass.
The days passed and the nights stopped being little, solitary moments just for Donna and you, well, almost all of them.
It seemed that the lady in black was slowly adapting to the animal, but a show of affection on her part was still just a fantasy.
One afternoon, you and Donna were reading quietly. Your body on hers lovingly, her breathing calm, everything was perfect. The lady in black turned the pages while caressing your hair, giving you soft kisses from time to time, kisses followed by tender giggles, sincere smiles.
But, also from time to time, the lady looked up, observing Bubbles, who sat in front of you, looking at you with curiosity, almost without moving. Donna looked at him briefly and went back to her reading, moving uncomfortably.
That gesture was repeated several times, which made you have to hold back your laughter.
“Your cat won't stop looking at me,” Donna whispered, frowning, watching the animal over her book.
“He probably finds you curious,” you said, leaning a little closer to her. “Don't pay attention to him.”
“Curious?” she asked, turning the page while you shook your head.
“Hey, I wasn't finished yet,” you protested, returning the book to its previous page. “Are you actually reading?”
“It's hard for me to read with those eyes piercing through my soul,” she commented, with a serious voice, looking at the animal whenever she could.
“Donna...” you sighed, kissing her cheek, a gesture that finally managed to get a tender smile from the lady in black. “You know I love you, right?”
“Not as much as I do,” she whispered with a sweet voice, emphasized by her subtle accent, one that you adored. “Ti amo così tanto…”
“Mm,” you purred amused, rubbing your head on her shoulder with a tender smile, closing your eyes. “You have to teach me to speak Italian…”
“Mm?” she murmured, curious, running her free hand over your body, bringing you a little closer to her. “Do you want to learn?”
“Yes, I would really like to be able to say those beautiful words you say,” you whispered, sighing relaxedly. Donna looked at you and nodded, kissing you briefly on the lips.
“A language is neither pretty nor ugly, (Y/N). The important thing about words is the feelings with which you say them,” she commented, sighing too, without looking at you, with her eye fixed on the book.
“Oh, is that the first lesson?” you asked amused, biting your lip.
Donna nodded slowly, looking up, and startled.
“Hey, where did he go?” she asked in a different tone, sitting up.
“Who?” you asked, annoyed due to the lack of contact.
“Your, your cat, where is he? He was here just a moment ago,” the lady said, looking around.
“Leave him alone, he must have gotten bored of watching us read,” you said in a calm voice, burying yourself in her chest again.
“Mm,” she murmured, changing the calmness of her face to a tense one, with her one eye half-closed.
“Hey, get down from there!” Angie's screams interrupted that peaceful calm, that romantic moment.
The two of you looked at the source of them.
Apparently, Bubbles felt like doing some climbing, and had gone up onto one of the cupboards in the living room, walking dangerously among some of Donna's dolls.
“Cazzo…” the lady growled, closing the book and approaching the cupboard. “Come down from there!”
You stood up a bit worried. Bubbles was certainly not the most agile cat in the world.
“Bubbles,” you said, approaching slowly. “Come down, come on,” you ordered the animal, pointing to the floor.
The cat, as if he wanted to make fun of you, meowed, licking one of his paws and continuing on his way.
“Oh, no…” Donna said, running towards the furniture when that furry body dangerously passed by one of the dolls, causing it to fall.
The brunette picked it up before it crashed to the floor and, after that, many others fell.
With almost impossible juggling, the lady in black picked up each of those four dolls, having to throw herself to the floor to pick up the last one.
You and Angie looked at each other briefly at Donna's funny moves and nodded, starting to clap.
“Bravo, Donna,” you said amused, under the intense gaze of the brunette, who played with the dolls in her arms.
“That was spectacular, Don,” Angie joked, clapping at the same time as you, in a comical way.
The lady growled, but before she could protest and get up from the floor, a furry ball landed on her stomach, making her protest.
“Ow!”
Bubbles, proud of his actions, rubbed his body against the brunette's face before leaving her body.
“Gatto…” she hissed, rubbing the spot where your pet landed while you, holding back your laughter, extended a hand to help her up.
“Are you okay, sweetie?” you asked amused, helping her put her dolls away from the cat claws that surrounded them.
“I'll be fine when that… Thing…” she mumbled, alternating unpleasant murmurs with what were surely insults in Italian.
“Well, there are no victims,” you commented amused, placing a hat on one of the dolls while the lady shook her dress.
“Teach that creature some manners!” Angie protested, pointing at the cat, which was once again looking at you with curiosity. “He almost killed my friends.”
“How dramatic,” you mocked, helping the brunette regain her composure. “I'm sorry, Donna.”
“You're sorry…” she growled. “Angie is right. You should train your pet better.”
“It's a cat, I can't stop him from wanting to climb on things,” you said, glancing sideways at the animal that seemed to starting to harass Angie.
“Donna!” the doll squealed, fleeing from his timid claws. “I'm not a toy!”
“Bubbles…” you sighed, rubbing your eyes as the cat chased the doll. “Come on, be a good cat.”
Your words, which normally had no effect, seemed to stop the animal, who meowed playfully, moving away from you when the doll, tired of being chased, distracted it with one of the wool balls, his favorite toy.
“Donna, are you okay?” you asked, placing a hand on the brunette's shoulder, who seemed to be putting the clothes on those dolls. She nodded reluctantly as you pulled her towards you.
“That cat... He's going to give me a lot of trouble,” she whispered, letting herself be comforted by your caresses.
“He still has to adapt,” you defended him. “It's not easy for him.”
“You've spoiled him, that creature needs rules,” the lady snapped, moving away from you a little so your charms wouldn't dazzle her again.
“Oh, come on…” you sighed, rolling your eyes.
“My sister's cat had better manners,” she explained, crossing her arms.
“Did your sister have a cat?” you asked curiously.
Donna nodded with a frown.
“Yes,” the lady answered dryly.
You knew you couldn't insist, that her family was a dangerous subject, but you couldn't help it.
“I'm sure she spoiled it too, am I wrong?” you said with a haughty tone.
“It was on the grounds, we never let it to enter the house, my father didn't allow it,” Donna said, shaking her head. “It's where cats have to be.”
“What nonsense,” you said a bit annoyed.”-I'm sure your sister wanted it to be with her, didn't she?”
“That doesn't matter, the rules are the rules,” she said, with a tone that was darkening little by little.
“Yes, of course,” you sighed angrily, crossing your arms.
The lady didn't answer, as if she had suddenly remembered something, as if she had realized who she was talking about without meaning to. Her hand began to tremble and her eye opened as she blinked nervously.
“Oh, Donna... Donna...” you said in a different tone, observing the brunette's reaction, the trembling of her body and the erratic movements of her head. A condition that, unfortunately, you already knew. “Hey, Donna, my love...”
“Claudia!” she shrieked, furious, squeezing her head between her hands, shaking it effusively. “Claudia! È colpa mia!”
“No, no, no, no, darling, calm down...” you said nervously, putting a hand on her shoulders to reassure her, something that didn't work, as she pushed them away abruptly, kicking furiously.
“Claudia, perdonami, sorella!” Donna shrieked again, completely losing control, pulling at her hair as she growled angrily. “Claudia, tesoro!”
“Donna, no, no, hey, don't do that, stop, my love…” you said hastily, fighting against her grip. “It's okay, my love, I'm with you, it wasn't your fault.”
“Chiudi il becco!” she shouted, pushing you away furiously, with one eye shining with the madness of her soul. “È colpa mia! Mia!”
“No, darling, it's not true, it was an accident, remember?” you said in a soft voice, unable to handle that crisis.
“Look what you've done, stupid! Donna's nervous again!” Angie protested, helping you calm her owner's madness, something impossible.
“No, no, lasciami! Lasciami stare!” the lady shrieked, slowly lowering herself to the floor, crawling along it as if she was running away from something, from her own demons.
“Donna,” you said, also lowering to the floor and putting a hand on the wall so Donna wouldn't hit her head against it. “Shhh, darling, please come to your senses. Donna, my love… I'm here with you.”
“Sono una stupida… Stupida!” The mad lady kicked while the cat, apparently unaffected by the screams, approached her.
“Shit… Bubbles, not now…” you said fearfully watching how the animal approached the lady, looking at her curiously. “Go, please…”
The animal didn’t listen. He simply walked elegantly towards Donna, climbing up her body, purring strangely.
“Bubbles…”you said with a nervous look, watching as he settled on her chest with a soft meow, rubbing against her face.
Donna stood still, breathing heavily, but making no effort to push the animal away, in fact, her hand moved to the black fur, caressing it with a trembling hand.
Her breathing miraculously calmed as her hand ran along the animal’s back, which seemed not to want to leave her, rubbing affectionately against her, soothing her tormented soul.
“Wow…”you sighed, watching as Donna’s gaze stopped being erratic, as her eye returned to its usual shine.
The cat purred triumphantly, briefly licking the brunette’s face before climbing down from her body with a discreet meow.
“(Y/N)… What?” the doll maker stammered, blinking in confusion. “Gods…”
“Oh, Donna, my love… How are you feeling?” you asked, ignoring Bubbles and grabbing your girlfriend's face, looking for possible wounds or scratches.
“F-Fine, I think,” she murmured, blinking nervously and turning her head towards the cat who, with a graceful movement, climbed onto the couch to take a well-deserved nap.
“Okay, up,” you said, helping her up and running a hand over her forehead. “You're soaked, honey… I'll prepare a hot bath for you, would you like it?”
She nodded, her gaze fixed on the cat, who was licking himself disinterestedly.
Well, crisis over. You didn't expect Bubbles' help, of course, but apparently, it was one of the reasons that made the lady regain her sanity, something admirable, of course.
After the hot bath, it was time to make dinner. Donna hummed quietly in the kitchen while you, having nothing better to do, kept her company.
“You look fine,” you commented, leaning on the wooden counter. She smiled tenderly, stirring something in a small pot.
“Yes, I'm much better, thank you, (Y/N),” she whispered gratefully, focused on the kitchen, as always.
“What are you cooking?” you asked, hugging her around the waist.
Donna, after kissing you quickly, pointed with her head to a bowl with a salad.
“Do you fancy some?” she asked in a low voice. You nodded curiously, looking again at that small pot.
“Yes, of course,” you said, pointing to its contents. “Boiled chicken?”
“Yes,” Donna replied, turning off the gas.
“Well, I prefer grilled chicken for salads,” you commented, scratching the back of your neck.
Donna laughed, shaking her head.
“It's not for us, tesoro,” the lady said, picking up a clay bowl, one you already knew, one with a name engraved on it. “It's for Bubbles.”
“For Bubbles?” you asked suspiciously.
“Yes,” Donna said, nodding slightly.
“Oh...” you murmured. “Wow, it's the first time you call him by his name and not a furry thing, or a vermin, or a scratch-everything monster or...”
“I admit that I have to thank him, he's helped me a lot,” she said, sighing. “You know, before, when... I lost, I lost my temper.”
You nodded with a smile as she prepared that delicious reward lunch.
“Honestly, I didn't know he was good at it,” you commented, tilting your head.
“Me neither,” she whispered, winking at you. “But hey, I think he deserves a reward. Will you help me?”
You nodded a bit confused, but you obeyed.
“Kitty?” Donna asked with a radiant smile, looking for the feline around the house and showing the bowl with his food. “Look what I have for you.”
“Bubbles?” you called him, something that wasn't necessary, because, as soon as he heard Donna's voice, he walked quickly towards her.
“That's it... Good cat...” the lady said, bending down to run a hand over his head, something the animal thanked with a meow while purring, looking at the bowl curiously. “Do you like chicken, little one?”
“Oh, sure,” you said amused, putting your plates on the table. “He likes anything.”
The cat rubbed itself on your lover's legs while she, laughing shyly, approached you, closely followed by the hungry Bubbles, who licked his lips with pleasure.
“That's it... Good kitty, I hope you eat it all, huh?” Donna said affectionately.
You frowned and looked at Angie, who shrugged with a gesture of disgust.
“Damn manipulative beast...” the doll whispered. “Look at that…”
You obeyed, watching the affection your pet gave to the lady in black as she served him his reward, one that he gladly accepted, of course.
“Donna,” you said, drawing the attention of the brunette, who looked at the black cat with curiosity. “Are you coming to dinner or should I serve you another bowl?” you joked.
She stood up nodding, smiling at the cat and sitting in her chair.
“Is that chicken?” Angie asked, pointing at the feeder. Donna and you looked at each other and nodded. “How lucky, Your Majesty! Hey, Donna, Donna, you've never done anything like that to me!” the puppet protested, tugging at her owner's black dress.
“You don't have a stomach,” Donna murmured, elegantly serving you a glass of wine.
“No, well… But, but I've helped you more times than that furball,” the doll defended herself, looking up and down at the feline, who was licking his delicious food, looking at Angie with curiosity.
“Don't be jealous,” you joked, of course, causing an annoyed gasp from the puppet, who protested by kicking the floor.
“Jealous? Donna, I think we need to talk,” Angie said, crossing her arms while Bubbles sniffed her. “Hey, get away! Get away!”
The cat meowed curiously, licking Angie briefly, something that calmed her protests.
“Did you see that?” the doll asked. Donna smiled and looked at her, nodding. “It's adorable!”
“Wow, your mind changes quickly,” you teased, continuing with your dinner as the puppet cautiously ran a wooden hand over the cat, who rubbed himself against her, causing Angie to fall comically.
“Oh…” Angie moaned, getting up and wrapping her arms around the cat, something the animal didn't protest about, but instead meowed happily. “He loves me too.”
That was a turning point.
Miraculously, everything changed after that horrible crisis. You couldn't say why, whether it was because of Bubbles' loving altruism, or because Donna had already gotten used to his presence, but... Everything seemed different.
The lady in black seemed much less bothered by the black cat, in fact, she no longer protested every time he got on the couch, or every time he approached her to play.
You even started to get a little jealous. Yes, he was your cat, but mysteriously, he increasingly preferred the company of the lady in black, even Angie’s. It didn't bother you at all, although many times those hands that caressed you stopped doing so, moving on to your pet's black fur.
Well, of course your love continued to burn as always, only that, in addition to an irreverent doll, in your routine, there was always Bubbles, eager to receive Donna's displays of affection, as well as her delicious special meals.
You couldn't compete with a boiled chicken or desalted tuna, you just couldn't.
“Bubbles...” you said, one morning, spending your time with clay while Donna was working on her dolls in the basement.
Everything seemed normal but... There was something strange in the house, or rather, there wasn't something.
Bubbles, although dazzled by Donna, was still your faithful companion, one who stayed by your side while you worked. That day you couldn't find him and you started to worry.
“Where are you?” you asked, getting up from the lathe and looking under the chairs. Nothing, no sign of the cat. Your gaze went to the doll, which seemed distracted, wandering around the house like she always do. “Angie...”
You growled nervously.
Yes, the puppet had also gotten used to the cat, but it was a terribly jealous doll, she cared day after day to prove it to you, to remind you that you had "stolen her Donna."
She had no reason to hurt the animal, in fact you thought she had already gotten used to its presence but, deep down, you feared she had carelessly (or on purpose) let it out of the mansion.
“What do you want, silly?” the doll asked, annoyed by your interruption.
“Where is Bubbles?” you asked, crossing your arms and stamping your feet impatiently.
“Do I look like a zoo keeper? I don't know where he is,” Angie said, with the same cocky gesture as you.
“Ugh…” you protested, walking through the house. Nothing, no sign of the cat, again.
Scared that it had escaped, you started to get nervous, walking quickly towards the elevator.
“Donna, Donna,” you said hurriedly, opening the doors of the workshop.
The lady turned around a bit surprised, bringing a finger to her lips.
“Shh,” she hissed at you, making you roll your eyes.
“Hey, I know you don't like me disturbing you but…” you said in a calmer voice, walking towards her. “I can't find Bubbles. I don't know if that evil doll has something to do with it but…”
Your words faded away when the lady in black turned more, showing you a black lump that camouflaged itself with her dress. Bubbles, that traitor cat, slept peacefully on her lap, something he didn't do even with you.
“Oh, I don't believe it…” you sighed in disbelief, being reprimanded again by a brusque gesture from the lady.
“Hey, lower your voice, tesoro, you're going to wake him up…” she whispered, running her hand over the cat's head, who purred at the contact.
You blinked several times and shook your head.
“I can't believe it,” you murmured with a surprised expression. “I thought Bubbles was totally forbidden to come down here.”
“Well…” she whispered, smiling at the animal with a tender look. “He's insistent…”
“Yes, and a treacherous manipulator too,” you joked, petting him.
Donna laughed, shaking her head and showing you what she was working on.
“Look, tesoro, I'm making a little bed for him,” the lady said, proudly. “We can put it in the bedroom, what do you think?”
“What do I think?” you asked amused, bending down to kiss her cheek. “I think I love you, Donna.”
Well, at least Bubbles was now a member of the family, an important one for all of you.

Her Special Maid
Prologue Chapter~
Tumblr media
Request:No
Chapter: Prologue
Warning: An unnecessarily indepth description of how to make bread the medieval way, not much else
Characters:Alcina Dimitrescu
A/N:I plan on making this into a series, I’m not to sure how it will go but fuck it, I have it taking place about a full year before anything with Ethan even begins to enter the question though so that’s why there will be little to no mention of him
A/N 2: This is a prologue so bare with it please!
Directory: Prologue (you are here), Chapter 1
You’re life in the village is by no means a hard one, Mother Miranda had blessed the village well and you and your family are devout to her and the four lords she appointed to help sustain the village. As a child, you had often wondered about the large castle that stood strong and resolute beyond the village, even more so about those who lived in it. You had read the tales of princesses and royalty living in buildings like this, however no one would answer you when you asked about it, they would just steer you away from it with weary looks cast towards the grandiose building.
As you grew older, you grew bolder and wandered closer to it, as if testing the castle to tell what secrets it held that kept everyone so on edge. Any time you could, you would sneak away from your duties in the house to venture further and further out, and that was when you met your first Lycan up close and personal. You had fled home unharmed but severely afraid. After that, the castle interested you much less.
It wasn’t until you fell ill with an affliction that no doctor could cure, that you first got a glimpse of what truly took home in the castle. You had been laying in bed running a fever and in and out of a stupor, when the sound of a carriage could be heard passing by. Your mother roused you from bed and forced you to stand beside your father as two carriages passed by. The windows to the carriage were heavily curtained but a pale white hand had reached out from behind them and you swore you saw golden eyes staring right back at you, but your father pressed your head down nearly taking your sick body to the ground.
After this, your curiosity had once again been piqued by the strange castle. If only to keep you from going closer to the castle, your mother told you it was where one of the four lords of the village lived, and that she had a penchant for taking young girls. You assumed this was true for the lost part, the last bit seeming more like something you tell to a child instead of a teen, however you were satisfied with they answer gave. As the years flew and your mother grew weak, you had to focus on taking over the small bakery your family ran. You learned the tricks of the trade out of a large recipe book that had been passed down from generation to generation filled and crammed with different kind of recipes, the alterations made, the exact rations, and everything else anyone aspiring to take of the business would need to know.
One morning, while you are trudging through the snow, you find a small box with a simple lock keeping it closed. Not wanting the snow to damage it or someone else to take it, also being curious yourself as to what is in it, you take it.You continue on your way back to the bakery and set it in your room in a raggedy but clean towel to dry so the wood doesn’t become soggy and damage the inner contents of the box. Now that you’ve set it down it’s clear to you that this is no ordinary jewllery box or otherwise. It’s ornatley decoratated and has a crest you’ve never seen before. Silver pegs at the bottom in each corner of the base stand the box up and pop against the deep dark slightly red of the wood. The wood it;s self is nicely glossed and clearly well cared for, however the dust in places that had not been disturbed by the snow and cloth shows that it’s old. You take a small handkerchief and wipe away the dust before inspecting it further.Silver vines with leaves trail up the lock which is split in two pieces to allow the box to open.Rumaging through a couple of drawers you finally find a old bobby pin your mother used to pin up your hair when you were a child, upon finding you slide it in and jiggle it around finding the right spot until you hear the click. As you open it, the gleam of the candle light reflecting off of what must be a pure silver locket slightly blinds you. It’s heavy in your hand and the locket it’s self is even heavier than the chain. Curiosity gets the better of you once more, and you snap the locket open. Inside is a worn picture of a beautiful woman with perfectly curled black hair, dark lipstick, and a gorgeous white dress, beneath and on either side of her are younger ladies who must be the womans daughters. None of them aside for the girl with the lightly brighter hair had a smile on her face, even then it was barely there. Feeling guilty for taking something with a clear sentimental value, you shut it and replace it in the box as it was, before shutting the box which automatically locks with a click.
You set it in a special drawer of your dresser, and head out tying up your hair to begin baking for the day, after all you were already behind on the bread that needed to be baked and if you didn’t have enough for the day you’de have to make more mid-way through which is no small feat. The day is relatively uneventful as you go about your daily routine, you take the flower you had bought from Mr.Bruner the week before and add water and bear to it along with a little yeast and begin to knead it.After thirty minutes you let it set working on several more large batches before shaping it into loaves of bread. You set out a stone slab over the fire and set several loaves down waiting for them to cook. This process is repeated from the point the sun is peeking up from the horizon, to the time it is placed a quarter of the way in the sky. The smell of fresh if slightly stale bread floods the house as well as the noses of passersby in the village. It isn’t as if you have much competition in such a small village, your family is the only bakery in it after all. With the bread done and baked, your younger brother takes to selling and keeping an eye on the front as you head back into your room to stare at the box. What if you were accused of stealing it from someone in the village? Who do you know would even have money enough to have something like this made? A thought passes your mind and you, for a moment, contemplate it before making the decision to see the merchant everyone had been to, aside from yourself. Running a bakery with a sick mother is stressful enough as it is so you never had time for anything not already planned out.
You have a bit of free time now, and he was on a path you liked to walk when you weren’t so weary of the Castle and haven't had the time to walk until now. You slide on your thicker boots and a cloak before leaving the back door and walking down the dirt path along the tree line. Here, most of the people in the village couldn’t see behind the line of houses and question where you are going. It was better this way, no one in the village has anything even remotely close to this value and the picture would give away that it doesn’t belong to you. A caravan comes into view near the front of the castles at the corner where the two dirt roads meet. As you stop in front of it, the doors swing open and a large man kicks his bare feet out pushing himself into a sitting position.
“Well hello there! I trust you are the baker's daughter, what brings you so close to the castle? Is it me, perchance?” The Duke greets you, though you are easily distracted by the trinkets on either door he had opened as the clink.
“Miss?” He calls out to you again an amused smile on his face as you look at his wares with blatant curiosity and wonder. Hearing this, you snap your eyes up at him and shake yourself out for the distracted daze you were in.
“My apologies, yes I’m here for you. I found this box,” you pause and take the box from its cloth confines, “have you seen anything like it?”
Immediately his interest is piqued and he scoots forward leaning down to gently take it from your hands and inspect it further. His eyes widen and his lips curl into a grin as he sets it back down.
“Oh no, I’ve never seen something like this…but I do know who it belongs to,” When he says this your eyes lift back to him from the box where they once were. He leans back into his seat before rocking forward to peek around the doors of his home, an arm pointing to the castle before the two of you.
“The Lady Dimitrescu, that box most certainly belongs to her.I’ve only seen products from her castle use such ornate silver designs. And the crest, is hers.”
Hearing this, you turn to look at th castle, what you thought was fantastical and large from afar, is imposing and intimidating now as it looms over you. This would be a place wear one of Mother Miranda’s appointed lords would stay. Could you maybe leave it at the doorstep, or give it to him and have it returned to her that way? The thought of entering the large castle had once entertained and excited you but now it fills you with dread. What if she thought you stole it? Your mother had told you that young ladies went missing to the castle many times , and that your best friend was suspected to have been taken there as well.
“Do you plan to give it to her yourself?” The Duke questions, a brow raised, that amused smile never quite leaving his face as he watches you.
“Y-yes, it’s only right it’s returned to her…” Even as you say it, your legs seem to dread the thought of moving closer. The Lord were made to protect the village, surely one wouldn’t harm you…right?
You shake your fear from you, your father had always told you that being a coward even as a woman would lead you nowhere in life. You turn to the Duke and thank him for his help, before walking on shaking legs towards the door of the castle. Underneath the terror and anxiety, your beating heart quickens for another reason, your strides quicken and you bite you lip to hold back the excited smile that twitches at your lips. Even through the fear, you might be able to enter a castle. A real life castle, and one that you had always hoped to enter. Mother had always warned that your childish curiosities would get you hurt, and you pray to Miranda that she is wrong. In no time at all, your eager legs have carried you through the snow to the door of the castle, and you give a timid if excited knock. After a few moments, your apprehension grips you, and you think to leave it at the door. Just as you turn around, the massive doors open and the warmth of the inside beckons you. Against your better judgment, you walk through the large doors which quickly shut behind you.
End note: Let me know what you all think it would be really appreciated

As a Gévaudan Lycan, June’s design is supposed to give off an unknowable and melancholy energy.
Gévaudan Lycans are mimics, and their emotions alter their form, especially if they have little to no control of themselves when they shift.
Tumblr media
The way June was changed into a lycan and her experience during first shift were extremely traumatic, and over time, her lycan form reflected her feelings of loss and self-loathing. She fronts as this charming and confident woman, while holding back her deeper emotions that eventually leached into the form that reflects her true self.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fear, sadness, loss, and rage all mixed into this one entity she cannot control. Once a month, she's forced into facing all of those emotions, reliving that trauma again and again for nearly 30 years.

°female reader, not beta read, slight angst, happy ending, canon typical violence I guess, ladies and gentlemen for the first time: oblivious Alcina Dimitrescu
3,300 words
_______________________________________
When you first arrived at Castle Dimitrescu it was with uncertainty and fear in every step. Whatever awaited you past the doors was unknown territory, and in the back of your mind, the horror stories told by the elders in the village resonated within you. Alas, like any other maid searching for refuge in that castle, you were not there willingly. The village resources were scarce and the fear of your cabin along with yourself being torn at night by the neverending waves of lycans were enough reasons for you to try to find employment within the Dimitrescu household.
You were accepted into the staff quicker than you would have expected, and soon enough you started working quietly and efficiently.
Whether it was your silent enjoyment for cleaning or the unbothered reaction to the daughters' games and deliberate bloodied messes (no one could blame you, really, not when you spend all your life waiting for your end with welcoming arms), there was indeed something that caught the Lady's eyes.
Perhaps it was the lonely look in your eyes, or perhaps the polite smile that never reached your eye that tugged at Alcina's heart. Could it be maybe that she saw a glimpse of herself before her transformation in you? A woman whose life circumstances made a shell out of her… She started watching you closely from the dark after you witnessed Cassandra having an angry fit with a maid and contrary to what anyone expected you were found completely unbothered by it and began cleaning the mess with dutiful practice. It was odd, the Lady had thought. Not even her oldest staff would be so numb to such display, and yet you –having been part of the staff mere days at the time– were unreactive.
Daniela even seemed to have grown fond of you in the little time you'd been working there. It's no wonder she always told her mother about you, unknowingly feeding the fire of curiosity within the Lady. Yes, she definitely had to investigate. Why were you there in the first place? From then on, the Lady was aware of every little thing you did in search of something that could give her some clarity, although you were none the wiser.
As for yourself… well, you had only seen the Lady from afar once, but it wasn't enough for you to form a solid opinion on her. The villagers had told you stories of what she was capable of, and even though you wouldn't mind having an "ascension to Mother Miranda's heaven" that didn't mean you were actively seeking your early demise.
By your fifth month working at the castle, you had gotten well acquainted with the three Dimitrescu sisters, even going as far as to spend time with them outside of your maid duties. You didn't know what they saw in you to enjoy your company, as far as you were concerned, there was nothing special about you, or at least none that you could see yourself, no special talent other than your well earned skill at crochet and the fine work you did at organizing; both activities usually needing only half of your mind thanks to the simplicity and repetitive movements, leaving the rest of your imagination to fly away.
Still, cooking with Daniela, crocheting with Cassandra and organizing the library books with Bela were activities that you eagerly looked forward to throughout the day, and unbeknownst to you, Alcina couldn't help but feel a strange warmth in her heart when you spent time with her daughters.
The first time the Lady invited you to have some tea with her, was unexpected. You remember being outside in the backyard, the cold breeze scratching at your reddened cheeks and biting your fingers while you scraped the snow out of the stone stairs with a hand shovel as a punishment from the head maid.
Unsuspecting, you kept focused on your task doing your best to tune out the growing numbness crawling up and reaching your wrists, until a light tap on your shoulders startled you.
When you turned, the Lady herself stood in front of you, bending forward enough for her hand to reach your kneeling body.
"What do you think you're doing out here?" She asked, and it could have been your imagination but her voice felt gentler than the other times you've heard her speak to the other maids.
A thoughtful look painted her features as you recounted how the head maid caught you giving your rationed food to another maid since she had missed her turn at the communal table, and then decided to have you clear the entrance stairs as a form of discipline. Recounting this, you saw the Lady for the first time, truly saw her. You had gotten quite used to only having glimpses of her retreating figure every now and then, but having her in her entire 9 foot tall glory before you was a sight to behold.
She was gorgeous, that was undeniable. The roundness of her jaw and the high cheekbones gave her an inviting aura, but you knew better than that.
The Lady, observant as always, caught the light shiver of your shoulders, and it was only then that she noticed the lack of proper clothes to wear outside in the unmerciful weather, instead the only thing covering you aside from the standard uniform was a light shawl wrapped around your shoulders like a makeshift blanket.
"Come." She had told you, and before you could react you were being guided by the shoulders toward the Lady's chambers, on your way to enjoy a quite nice cup of hot honeyed tea to warm you up.
Surprisingly, the conversation flew comfortably, and you found yourself enjoying the Lady's company, and even if you didn't know it, the Lady felt it way too easy to talk to you.
From then on, you couldn't tell when the reunions became more frequent. Not that you were complaining. Talking to the Lady was always nice, even if at first you were afraid of saying something that would end up with you visiting the cellar, but alas, you grew to enjoy the easy talk, and with time the Lady allowed you to speak freely.
It was odd after a few months, though, out of nowhere the way the Lady herself would go fetch you instead of sending a maid to summon you. You hadn't seen her pay the same attention to any other maid, but the slowly growing butterflies in your belly fluttered more often than not whenever you saw the Lady on the hall entrance, already waiting for you. Of course no words were needed, you would follow her as soon as the soft smile appeared on her lips.
Perhaps it was the time you spent together with the woman, but you started seeing things that little by little melted your heart and filled you with a gentle buzzing, things that anyone else would completely miss. Despite everyone believing the Lady to be cold and heartless, the reality was all the opposite. The way she looked at her daughters with so much love and softness made your heart warm, the gentle nudges and praise for the treasure and pride that were her three girls were always present. And not only with her family, but she also cared for her maids, in her unique ways, but cared nonetheless. The Lady was nothing if not a fair employer, even if your coworkers wouldn't see it like that.
Yes, the Lady was caring. How else could she remember your specific taste in tea and snacks? Every time you were to visit her chambers, the steaming tea and muffins were already set waiting in a tray on the coffee table.
Soon enough, you felt the same comfort talking to Alcina -as she one warm afternoon urged you to call her- as talking to one of your closest friends. Was it normal for you to always want to be there for her? Probably not, but alas can she blame you? You felt pulled by her like a moth to a flame, the metaphor being more accurate than not, what with the same dangerous fire only a small distance from consuming you. You're positive you could stare at her molten gold eyes until the end of your days if she so allowed.
Two years of the same routine were more than enough for Alcina to have you wrapped around her finger, and you learned to read her like an open book. Great friends you were after sharing conversations for so long, and even the maids knew you to be her confidante.
You were happy with your unofficial title, and although you wished you could be something more significant to your Lady, you knew your place very well. In the time you had accompanied the Matriarch, she hadn't really given you reasons to fear her aside perhaps for her anger outbursts, but you knew better than to test your luck. The Lady might have been lenient with you, but that didn't mean she wouldn't dispose of you whenever she found fit, after all what were you, a mere maid, to someone powerful like her?
Two years and a wonderful three months had passed since that first conversation, until you began to notice a certain change in Alcina's attitude.
All of a sudden, your usual routine began to crumble. The first thing that shocked you was that you were denied entrance to her chambers for your tea time, and as if that wasn't enough, the sightings of the Lady around you became more and more sparse. She, unknowingly, left you to wonder just what you had done wrong to upset her, and if that was the case, why wasn't she chasing you to put out your candle? Even the daughters' buzzing remained far away from you, and the only thing that came for you after you accidentally did something wrong was silence and solitude rather than the slightly annoyed rolling eyes followed by a small smirk from your Lady.
Perhaps Alcina had just tired of you, and even if it hurt you, you promised yourself you'd move on eventually and continued working as diligently as you had done all this time.
Turns out that, another three months after your promise, forgetting Alcina still proves hard. No matter in what an unbothered way she had pushed you away, you couldn't force yourself to desist from her…friendship? So that's how you find yourself on your way to offering one last tea. One last hopeful plea before this time letting her go once and for all.
You're reaching the top of the stairs on your way to your Lady's chambers, when you spot a man trying to open the twin doors on the second floor balcony.
"Who are you?" Your voice startles the man and he turns. There's a slightly manic look in his eyes, and you're immediately weary of him. As of late, the hunters from the village have receded in their attempts at breaking in, but the one in front of you doesn't seem to be in his right mind at all.
"Get him!" Bela's voice thunders from the end of the hall, and you immediately know they're hunting the trespasser.
The man seems to get the hint and makes a run for the stairs, but he's so frantic that he doesn't have enough control to completely dodge your body half blocking the stairs, and as he runs past you his shoulder connects with you harshly.
"Wha–"
That nudge is all you need to lose your footing on the stairs. The tray you were carrying along with the delicate porcelain teacups falls to the ground with a shattering clash and is at this point that you should worry about your imminent fall from the second floor, but the real reason behind your wince is knowing your Lady's wrath at breaking her favorite china set will not make itself wait if you survive.
Well, if you're gonna have a bad time anyway, you might as well make the best of it. If you're descending to your downfall, the man will come with you…
The man is not fast enough to dodge your iron grasp on his jacket as you begin spinning down, and the strength you pull him with brings him rolling down in toll.
The man is resilient and whilst tumbling down he tries to break free from your grasp, fighting with you and your fierce scratching retaliation.
"Let go of me!" He grunts while pulling on your hair harshly in an attempt to make you yield, but you answer by digging your fingers in his eyes.
The edges of the stairs' steps dig hard against you, and soon enough there's sharp pains pulsating in several parts of your body.
In the background you can hear a familiar voice (Daniela maybe… or perhaps Cassandra?) calling for their mother. If you're not mistaken there's also a quickly approaching buzzing sound, but it's muffled by the loud ringing in your ears.
You land on the tiled floor with a loud splat, and you swear you feel your wrist snap under your weight, but the adrenaline keeps you from acknowledging it, instead your focus is on trying to find your footing shakily and your eyes are pinned to the man that with a great effort manages to crawl away.
The man quickly gets away as good as his legs can allow him, reaching for a nearby dagger that in the fall spilled from his now torn backpack.
"No!" You hear someone yell, and the man with his weapon in hand pounces at you before you can completely stand.
The silver dagger, beautifully intricate and slightly curved, reaches your side, the tip finds its way through your clothes and the harsh hit leaves you breathless. The pain in your body and the lack of air along with the pulsing in your wrist and the dizziness of the fall makes you fall to the floor again on your knees and embrace yourself in an attempt of comfort. The corners of your sight become dark and blurry at times.
"What have you done!" To your surprise, your Lady -who wasn't far behind her daughters when they called for her- finally reaches you both and in a second her hand is wringing the man's neck.
A groan from you makes Alcina's gaze snap at your limp body on the floor, and her eyes widen as she confirms that the dagger is indeed buried in your side. It takes her a moment to fully process what she's seeing, and in her mind the mantra 'It can't be…' is repeating over and over again.
The damned Dagger Of Death's Flower's -the same dagger that the dirty scum had stolen a few hours prior- is sticking out from your side.
Her panic sets in, and her eyes become blurry. The overwhelming anger she felt towards the man that dared to touch you is completely overridden by the absolute fear.
Not you… please not like this.
The now unconscious man is thrown carelessly across the room towards the three daughters who have regrouped, Alcina will deal with him later in a much more proper way, for now the only thing in her mind is taking care of your agonizing self.
Her breathing becomes ragged, and if her heart could still beat, it would be hammering against her chest in fear.
"No… no, no!"
She can't lose you like this.
Her tears are now flowing freely, staining her cheeks with ruined makeup as she kneels and oh so carefully brings your weight onto her lap. She's delicate, more than anyone would have thought her to be, she's so gentle and tender in the way she holds your limp body against hers, and there's a light tremor in her usually steady hand as she clears your face from stray locks.
Her long time friend, her only one in so long actually, is now walking on the edge between life and death…
Good Lord, why does it feel like the dagger stabbed her heart instead? Why does seeing you like this feel so wrong?
There's deep regret in the way her frown crinkles her forehead.
There's nothing else she can do for you now, not when the poison from the dagger is in your system.
Despite Alcina's aversion to touching the dagger, she forces herself to remove it. She won't allow it to pester you more, or tarnish the last memory she'll have of you.
She pulls the weapon with a hard tug, but to her shock the blade comes out clean, there's no spurting blood coming from the supposed wound, and in its place, through the torn fabric she can see a familiar green cover and engraved golden letters.
A loose sob comes from her, it's wet and definitely unladylike, but the relief she feels it's too immense for her to care about propriety.
It's a book that hides under the clothes. The book she had gifted you so long ago it's what saved your life. That book that had always annoyed her thanks to your constant insistence for her to read it was the shield that had stopped the poisoned blade from touching you.
Honestly Alcina couldn't be more thankful and relieved.
"Ow…" You mutter against her as she holds you closer, and her laugh mixed with disbelieved sobs drown your complaint. You don't really care though, the familiar and comfortable scent is enough to have you burrow further into the Lady.
Next thing you know, there's a pair of lips pressing against your forehead.
"Oh darling, I thought I had lost you…"
As soon as those words leave Alcina's lips, there's a realization that comes so suddenly to her, falling on her like a bucket of ice. It's when you raise your head and finally look at her with big and teary eyes and smile sheepishly at her, at that moment she knows for the first time that you, her maid and friend, hold her heart in your hands.
This time, without hesitation, her lips fall on yours, gently minding your injuries, but desperate enough for you to feel her relief. You're alive and that's all that matters to her. It doesn't take you a second after before you're kissing her with the same need.
"Finally…" You hear someone say far behind you, and it takes you a moment to recognize the owner of the voice as Daniela's.
"Let's go treat your wounds." Alcina says before carefully carrying you in her arms bridal style all the way up the stairs until you're out of sight from the daughters and the man now completely forgotten.
Alcina sets you down on her bed and finally lets herself look at you with all the love you deserve. Honestly, it isn't a mystery how she fell for you, but now she can't help but to feel silly at how she avoided the strange feelings she had whenever you were nearby. How could she know those feelings that made her avoid you for so long were in reality quite the strong love?
Well, she did know how, but of course she would tell.
The many years of her life had taught her that love wasn't for her. Her past had made her blind. Feeling like this after so long, it was almost a new experience for her. It's no wonder then that she didn't know why you made her feel like that in the first place.
And now, with you having your wounds bandaged and properly kissed better, resting on top of her and nestling your head under her chin as she gently rubs your back, she can't think of you not being in her life ever again.

The first thing that truly comes into focus for you is the feeling of grime beneath your nails - dirt or blood, you don’t know and you’re far past the point of pretending to care. Their presence was as familiar to you as your own skin and the remnants of humanity you still clung to so fiercely. The second thing that came into focus was the roaring pain in your side and the gentle touch that accompanied it. The injury itself was a blur; the thrill of the hunt so often blinded you to its consequences. At first, at least. Eventually the adrenaline would fade and you would be left with the consequences.
That was where she came into things.
You didn’t know if she was an angel or a devil in disguise but it hardly mattered, you would worship Cassandra Dimitrescu regardless. Her hood serving as an eclipsed halo as she stared upon you fondly. A look some would kill for. A look some had been killed for.
“You have to be more careful, sweet thing.” One of her hands gently brushed across your cheek as you found your head moving to chase after her touch. No blood nor hunt would ever be as precious as her attention. That part of you that could still classify itself as human latched onto those feelings, held them like the lifeline they were. A reminder that you had been someone. Long before this. Long before her. “What would I do without you? It’s not often my sisters are so content with me keeping something so sweet to myself.” And then her hands were off of you as she treasured the droplets of your blood that still clung to them. You watched as Cassandra turned her hand, fascinated by the way it held so fiercely onto her skin before licking her fingers clean as if enjoying the aftermath of a fine feast. “But I’ll indulge you as long as you keep coming back to me. My little wolf.”
A memory of a story you’d once heard long ago of women with charming smiles and sweet words. Enchanting looks that would lure any towards them. Sirens and seductresses. Whatever Cassandra was was far worse and yet… and yet you wouldn’t change a thing about her. You wouldn’t change a thing about this. Perhaps the person you had once been would have been able to show her the true devotion you craved to. But there was the fear that someone like her would never give that version of you a second glance.
For now, this was enough. For now, this was your sanctuary.

The choices for the side enemies in each section of resident evil was very deliberate, and shows off both what Mother Miranda thought the lords deserved and what suits their characters. This may have been for difficulty purposes for each area, but still. I think it is a nice tidbit of flavor to our characters even if it’s indirect. Also I have brain rot.
Moreau doesn’t have any mobs. His reservoir is uniquely isolated. It’s evident from the way the other lords treat him that this is how they feel towards him as well. He isn’t a popular fella. As such, Mother Miranda granted him no special protection or privileges. Besides, I’m sure his bile would repel any creature, even a zombie or moroaica.
Lady Dimitrescu has many creatures within her castle because she interacts with more people on the regular. It’s canon that she had a whole service of female servants who were regularly harvested and experimented on. These subjects are later turned into one of two things: moroaica (the on ground creepy crawlies), or samca (the harpy looking things on the roof). Though we know Alcina isn’t Miranda’s favorite, she’s still pretty high up there. She had to make these critters herself still. Plus, her castle is huge and it only makes sense to have scattered security. I’d say Alcina’s daughters count as a high honor and another reflection of the characterization of Castle Dimitrescu.
As for Lady Beneviento, her situation is an interesting one. Angie doesn’t quite count as a mob, since she is technically an extension of Donna’s consciousness. This is obviously part of her as a person. Disregarding Angie, Donna has no major creatures. I say this because I don’t believe her dolls count as beasts bestowed upon her by Miranda. They’re handmade. She had to harness the skills of cadou experimentation, combined with the craftsmanship of doll making. This reflects Donna because she is isolated, but skillful enough to combat it unlike Moreau. She’s delusional, but evidently not to the same degree as Sal. She copes in her own fucked up, crafty way.
Last but not least, Heisenberg. Now, Heisenberg is Mother Miranda’s established favorite. The golden child. The sun of her sons. It’s also established that Mother’s fondness is by no means requited. Heisenberg loathes her. But nonetheless, even with his absolutely meh loyalty, he has a fair deal of power bestowed upon him. Disregarding his cadou abilities, he has the entirety of the lycan pack. That is no small force. Miranda practically trusts the most dangerous lord with an army. I’d like to believe she isn’t stupid enough not to realize his faulty loyalty, but I feel as if she treats him like a second true child. He’s the son that could’ve been Eva’s big brother should everything have worked out. Love is blind, and Miranda’s too busy to question cutie Karl. Karl also has the Soldats that he’s made himself. This is an intriguing view of him in my opinion. Karl lets Ethan slaughter Miranda’s creation because the entire time he’s been using the powers she gave him to oppose her. Silly guy moment.
Mother Miranda herself has no side mob which is very purposeful as well. She works alone. Her sidekick is the cadou, which we see in the form of all those root looking appendages bursting forth from the ground later in the game. Unlike Moreau who’s isolated due to his insufferable and odorous nature, Miranda is alone by choice. By grief, more accurately. Why bother with companions when Eva isn’t back yet? For her shattered mindset, I’m sure the thought of her daughter is companionship enough. Even with the mold making an appearance, Ethan only has to engage in combat with her herself. This is because even with the mold present, she’s still the vessel. It’s illogical and unnecessary for the megamycete to risk itself when Miranda is right there and so willing to take the blunt of the force.
The megamycete’s side mob is every single thing infected with the mold.
Thank you for reading :) hope it was coherent

Nowhere to Hyde 1 Dark! Tyler Galpin x reader
1
Type: series
Requested: N/A
Summary: At his day job where he masquerades as just a Barista, Tyler meets his mate in the form of the new student at Nevermore.
Warnings: mature 18+ only. dark!Tyler, with yandere themes. Eventually the themes will get darker. Possessiveness, adult themes
Tumblr media
Being a new student at Nevermore you were unsure of the people around you. The student body was split into social groups, often reflecting which species they were. For you, someone who didn’t fit that, it made it increasingly hard to find friends. You had no idea where to begin with navigating this strange new school you’d been sent to.
However you quickly caught up with the help of Enid, a friendly and extremely bubbly werewolf. She told you all about the groups on campus, and the history of all the couples, and the teachers, and the rumoured secret societies. It helped a lot to have someone like her around. You became fast friends. You lived close to her on campus and were able to visit often.
You bonded over many shared interest. While you weren’t as preppy as Enid you did class yourself as an optimist. You had to be.
The reason you had been sent to Nevermore was because of your puzzling abilities. While you didn’t have green fingers literally, you did have control over nature. You’d only really experimented with small plants and flowers.
After it had all gone wrong, you’d been sent here. It was a simple mistake. You’d been growing a tree from a sapling to a fully grown adult in your backyard. It took a lot of energy and concentration. What you hadn’t realised is that you were being watched, as some of your fellow school mates shouted at you and jeered, you’d lost concentration.
You could only watch as the branches grew out of control, launching through the windows of your house. The kids in question ran away. Telling anyone who would listen. It put your parents in an awkward position. Although they themselves had strange abilities, it was made clear - you had to leave.
Enid kind of understood what it was like to not fit in. She herself struggled with her lack of Lycan abilities.
When you heard she had a new roommate coming, you both looked forward to seeing a new face. That new face however didn’t look forward to seeing you. Wednesday was bold and honest. She didn’t hold back on anything she said. Her rawness drove people away and in truth it almost drove you and Enid away. But over a couple of weeks you grew as close as you could to the girl. Even though that wasn’t very close.
Over those weeks you and Wednesday talked over the case, leading to new discoveries down the road of Joseph Crackstone, Goody Addams, the case of crazy Rowan and the all too happy therapist. Enid tried not to listen, she thought the both of you crazy and paranoid. Although as time ticked on even she couldn’t deny that something was going on in Nevermore and in Jericho.
You made some serious break throughs, one of those being the discovery of a creature called the Hyde.
You’d kept in contact with your parents, using your weekly phone call to ask about the Hyde creature that seemed a mystery to all. Surprisingly your family had a history with the beast. Dating back generations. You asked for all the information they had to be sent over in the post.
After reviewing it you went to meet Wednesday and at the weathervane.
Tumblr media
Tyler was the Hyde, that much was true. He’s been working with Marilynn Thornhill; against his will as it was, to act out her plan to rid Jericho of outcasts.
Trapped as the Hyde and alone with that knowledge had made Tyler paranoid. Paranoid someone would find out, take him away, or try to fix him.
While the murderous tendencies he faced while being the Hyde weren’t ideal, and neither was the blacking out, it made him feel alive. It gave him power he’d never had before.
It was just all being controlled by Thornhill.
His current job was to keep an eye on Wednesday and report back any discoveries she’d made. It was easy enough to do when she kept walking in to do her investigating at the Weathervane. The place he worked.
Sometimes she brought her little friends too. The werewolf, Enid, so bright it made his eyes hurt. The creep Xavier, his previous run ins with the guys had left a sour taste in his mouth.
To get close to Wednesday he’d had to feign some sort of interest in her and her dark ways, which hadn’t been easy. While she was pretty, she wasn’t his type and the hassle of dealing with Xavier would never be worth it.
Yet all his work seemed to have paid of because today she brought someone different. She brought someone new. She brought you.
As soon as you walked in, Tyler was hit by an overpowering scent. The scent so sweet it reminded him of summer. The flowery and vanilla scent engulfed his senses. For a minute he almost stumbled, making him grip the counter for support.
After becoming the Hyde he’d had an increase in his senses. His sight, hearing and smell had all become superhuman.
But no one smelt like you. He was ready to become the Hyde there and then. In the quiet coffee shop, in the normie village. Take you back to his cave and make you his, many time over.
The thoughts made him hot all over. It made blood flow to places he didn’t want it to flow to. It took a lot of deep breathing and some off putting images in his mind to calm his situation.
You sat with Wednesday, smiling brightly as you greeted her. A contrast to her blank stare and cold demeanour. Wednesday already had her drink, whereas you were left without one. This was his opportunity. The shop barely had an customers and those that were here were focusing on work for the most part.
He walked over to see you animatedly explaining something; smile bright, eyes gleaming, hands moving, lips so soft. By the time he’d walked over he had almost forgotten what he went over for.
“Tyler.” A monotone voice greeted.
The girls now stared at him, he needed to keep his cool.
“Wednesday, nice to see you again. And you are?”
You smiled, shooting out a hand for him to shake, “(Y/N), nice to meet you Tyler.”
Your skin was soft, so soft. Your touch send shivers down his spine. He wondered what it would feel like to have you hands on his cheek, in his hair, on his chest, on his -
He clears his throat, “What are you working on?”
“Classwork.” You lie. He can hear your heart beat faster as you struggle to make eye contact. You lied, and to him. But why?
He didn’t let it show on his face, but he was disappointed. Did you not feel what he felt.
“Ah, can I get you a drink or anything?”
Your smile returned and he was grateful, “oh just a (Y/D) please.”
He left to make your drink. Trying again to cool his blood flow.
Tumblr media
You took out the old book your family had sent you. Explaining to Wednesday that your family had a history with discovering creatures. The Hyde had a whole chapter in the ancient book. Covering its appearance, it’s behaviour, it’s habitat, it’s mating rituals.
When you asked your parents how your ancestors knew such things they told you that they had close connections with them. Your mothers great great grandmother had been mated to one. Much different to being married to one.
For a Hyde, their abilities often made them uncontrollable. Their infliction occurred from a mutation and would only be triggered by a traumatic event, chemical inducement or hypnosis. Yet when under the control of a master this was rectified.
“So the Hyde is only part of our mystery, we’re looking for a Hyde and it’s Master.” Wednesday stated.
You nodded, smiling politely as you saw Tyler coming over. You shut the book moving it aside.
He placed your drink on the table.
“Thank you Tyler.” You smiled, meeting his eyes.
“No problem, are you working on the case?” He asked.
Wednesday flips her eyes up to Tyler, “Yes we’re researching the Hyde.”
Your eyes widen and they switch between Wednesday and Tyler. She sees your confusion, “Tyler knows about the case.”
“Oh.” You pull your book back out, opening it on the right page.
Tyler looks it over, not having to fake his interest this time. The pages are way past yellow, adorned with brown dust.
Pictures of the Hyde littered the page in various different mediums. Neat cursive writing annotating certain parts of the anatomy. He’s intrigued how you know so much; or how you’ve gotten such an old book about him.
Even Thornhill has little to no idea about Hydes, she just knows how to control them.
“Wow this book looks ancient, where did you find it?”
You explain it’s a family heirloom that’s been passed down and added to. You miss out that you have slight Hyde heritage.
Still you scent is intoxicating and when you move your hair from your shoulders it wafts more his way.
“That is interesting, what have you found?”
“Just a few things about the Hyde really. What it’s triggered by, where it lives, it’s mating process.”
Now that, that caught his attention.
“Really, a mating process . It’s like you’ve got a guide to the Hyde right there.”
Wednesdays eyes widened a fraction, realising that with slight Hyde heritage, it could be you. You noticed her change in demeanour, frowning.
“Are you okay Wednesday?” You asked , concerned.
She nodded, stiff as a board - not all that unusual for the girl, “I forgot I was meeting Xavier later today. You’ll have to excuse me.”
With that she leaves, making you sigh. You don’t know how your going to find your way back to Nevermore now.
Tyler moves to sit in the booth opposite. Analysing your appearance. From your eyes that sparkle in the light, to your hair that shimmers and your hands grip your (Y/D).
“Hey, if you don’t mind I’d love to learn more about the Hyde. Any chance you don’t mind sticking around for a bit?”
“No, not at all.” You smile. And he’s sure he’ll never grow tired of seeing it.
“Great, I finish in 20 minutes. Then I’ll be over.”
Tyler walks back over to the counter. Formulating a plan in his head of how he’s going to get to you. Here you were naive to the fact that he was the Hyde, with a book all about him.
He knew he wasn’t going to let you go anytime soon.

Niall's knuckles rapped on the wooden double doors of the Alpha's office, and a moment of tense silence followed. Y/N watched, her curiosity mixed with apprehension, as Niall slowly pushed the doors open without waiting for a verbal response.
The office was grand and spacious, with a massive wooden desk positioned near a giant window that offered a commanding view of the surrounding territory. The Alpha, the enigmatic leader of the Shadow Pack, stood with his back to the newcomers, gazing out at the landscape.
Y/N felt her heart race as she took in the scene. She had been waiting to meet the Alpha, but what she hadn't expected was the identity of the man before her. It was Harry, the mayor of the nearby town, the same man she had met on that foggy beach.
Her confusion deepened, and she instinctively moved closer to Niall, seeking comfort in his presence. She wondered how the mayor of the town was connected to the mysterious world of the pack, and what secrets he held.
Niall cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "Alpha," he began respectfully, "I've brought Y/N, as you requested."
Harry, the Alpha, slowly turned around, his gaze settling on Y/N. There was an intensity in his eyes, a depth of emotion that left her both intrigued and uneasy.
Y/N's surprise upon discovering that Harry, the mayor of the nearby town and the man she had grown fond of, was the Alpha of the Shadow Pack was beyond words. It felt like a revelation that turned her world upside down.
Her feelings were a whirlwind of emotions. On one hand, there was a sense of betrayal that Harry hadn't shared this monumental secret with her. On the other, there was a strange mix of awe and attraction to the powerful figure before her. She had admired him as the mayor, but now she saw a different, more complex side to him.
She couldn't help but feel conflicted, torn between her desire to understand this new reality and the sense of longing that had grown between her and the Alpha. The fact that Harry had used Niall to bring her here without revealing his true identity left a bitter taste in her mouth.
Harry, the Alpha, studied her with a penetrating gaze, seemingly aware of the turmoil within her. His voice, when he finally spoke, was soft and measured. "Y/N, I know this is a lot to take in, and I apologize for not revealing the truth sooner. There are reasons for the secrecy, reasons that I hope you will come to understand in time."
Y/N remained silent, her mind racing with questions and emotions. She couldn't deny the pull she felt toward Harry, but she also couldn't ignore the fact that her life had taken an unexpected turn, plunging her into a world she had never imagined existed.
As Niall turned to leave the Alpha's office, believing his task was completed by safely bringing Y/N into the pack territory, Harry's commanding voice stopped him in his tracks. The sheer power behind Harry's command made the very walls of the office seem to tremble.
"Get back here now."
Niall swallowed hard, realizing that he wasn't off the hook just yet. He had brought Y/N into the territory, but she wasn't unharmed. The fact that she had needed medical attention hadn't gone unnoticed by Harry. It was clear that the Alpha had sensed her condition.
Reluctantly, Niall turned back and walked toward Harry, his expression a mix of guilt and resignation. He knew that a confrontation was imminent, and he couldn't escape the consequences of his actions.
Harry's eyes bore into Niall's, and the air in the room grew tense as they prepared for what came next. Y/N's presence had set in motion a series of events that neither of them had anticipated, and the pack's Alpha was determined to get to the bottom of it.
Harry's piercing gaze remained fixed on Niall as he demanded an explanation for what had happened to Y/N. Niall, feeling the weight of the situation, cleared his throat before giving his account of the events.
"She fainted," Niall admitted, his voice steady but tinged with unease. "It happened right after I transformed into my wolf."
Harry's expression remained inscrutable as he absorbed this information. He was clearly concerned about Y/N's well-being and the impact of Niall's actions on her. "Is she all right now?" Harry asked, his voice softer, showing a hint of genuine worry.
Niall nodded. "Yes, Alpha. Michaela examined her and prescribed some medication. She should be recovering."
Harry let out a sigh, his shoulders relaxing slightly. "I'm glad to hear that she's getting the care she needs." Then, his gaze hardened as he turned his attention back to Niall. "But I trusted you to keep her safe, Niall. I trusted you with her well-being."
Niall bowed his head in acknowledgment, fully aware of the gravity of his failure. He had let his Alpha down, and there would undoubtedly be consequences for his actions.
Y/N, who had been quietly listening to the conversation between Harry and Niall, finally spoke up. Her voice carried a hint of frustration as she addressed them both.
"Hey," she said, her tone firm, "you guys are acting as if I’m painted on the wall. I am right here”
Both Harry and Niall turned their attention to Y/N, realizing that they had been preoccupied with their own concerns. Harry's expression softened as he regarded her, while Niall looked relieved that she had spoken up.
"You're right, Y/N," Harry conceded, his voice gentler now. "This concerns you, and you deserve to have your questions answered. Please, have a seat. Niall you are dismissed. We’ll talk later”
With a nod from Harry, Niall quietly left the Alpha's office, leaving Y/N alone with the enigmatic leader of the Shadow Pack. As the door closed behind Niall, Y/N felt a mixture of relief and apprehension. She was finally getting the chance to have her questions answered, but the mystery surrounding Harry's dual identity still hung heavily in the air.
Harry walked around his desk and leaned against it, his gaze never leaving Y/N. He understood the weight of the secrets that had been kept from her and recognized that it was time for some clarity.
"Y/N," he began, his voice calm, "where would you like to start? I know you must have many questions, and I'm here to provide you with as much information as I can."
Y/N took a deep breath, her mind racing with inquiries. She had so much she wanted to ask, but she decided to start with the basics. "First, can you explain what all of this is? The pack, the hierarchy, the wolves... It's all so overwhelming."
Harry nodded, appreciating her desire to understand the fundamentals. "Of course," he replied. "Let's begin with the basics. The pack is essentially a family of sorts, but we're not like ordinary families. We're bound by more than blood; we're bound by a shared transformation, a shared existence as wolves."
He paused, giving her a moment to absorb this information before continuing. "Within the pack, there's a hierarchical structure. I'm the Alpha, the leader. Beneath me, there are Betas, like Niall, who assist in maintaining order and ensuring the pack's well-being. And then there are Omegas, who play vital roles too. Each member has their place and responsibilities within the pack."
Y/N listened intently, trying to wrap her head around the concept. "And the wolves?" she asked. "Are they... real wolves?"
Harry smiled, a hint of warmth in his eyes. "Yes, they are real wolves. We're a unique breed, descendants of an ancient line. We have the ability to transform between our human and wolf forms. It's part of our nature, our heritage."
Y/N nodded, beginning to piece together the puzzle. "But why the secrecy?" she asked. "Why not reveal this to the world?"
Harry's expression turned somber. "There are dangers, Y/N. Not everyone would understand or accept us. Our existence has been kept hidden to protect us from those who would seek to exploit or harm us. It's a complex world, and the truth can be a double-edged sword."
Y/N mulled over his words, realizing that this revelation was just the tip of the iceberg. There were still many more questions to be asked, but she felt a newfound sense of clarity and determination. She was ready to delve deeper into the mysteries of the Shadow Pack and the enigmatic Alpha who led it.
Y/N's curiosity burned brighter than ever as she delved further into the mysteries surrounding the Shadow Pack. She leaned forward in her chair, eager to learn more, and posed her next question to Harry.
"Can you tell me about the history of the pack, where it all began?" she asked.
Harry nodded, acknowledging her thirst for knowledge. He began to recount the story of the pack's origins.
"Our history is deeply intertwined with the untamed wilderness of this region," Harry began. "Generations ago, our ancestors lived in harmony with the wolves of the forest. They had a connection to the land and the creatures that inhabited it, unlike anything seen in the modern world."
Y/N listened intently as Harry continued, his voice carrying the weight of history. "As time passed, our ancestors discovered that they had a unique gift—a gift that allowed them to become one with the wolves. They could transform, harnessing the strength and instincts of the creatures they coexisted with."
The Alpha's eyes took on a distant look as he continued, "This gift came with responsibilities. Our ancestors formed the first pack, vowing to protect both the human and wolf sides of their nature. They forged a bond with the wolves, ensuring that our two species would live in harmony."
Y/N was captivated by the tale, her mind racing to grasp the enormity of the history Harry was sharing with her. "What happened next?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Harry's gaze locked with hers, his eyes reflecting the weight of centuries. "Over time, our kind faced threats from those who feared our abilities. We were hunted, persecuted, and driven to the brink of extinction. To survive, we went into hiding, living in secret packs, always wary of discovery."
He paused, letting the gravity of their history sink in. "The Shadow Pack, the largest and most powerful of our kind on the West Coast, traces its lineage back to those early days. We've held onto our traditions, our connection to the wilderness, and our duty to protect our kind."
Y/N was overwhelmed by the depth of the story she had just heard. It was a history that defied belief, and yet, here she was, sitting in the midst of it all. She realized that she had only scratched the surface and that the secrets of the Shadow Pack ran deeper than she could have ever imagined.
As Harry finished recounting their history, Y/N couldn't help but feel a growing connection to this hidden world. There was much more to discover, and she was determined to uncover every secret, no matter how enigmatic or perilous it might be.
Y/N leaned forward, her eyes focused on Harry, eager for answers to the questions that had filled her mind. "Harry," she began, "how did your pack manage to build this town in such a secluded place? It's all so... remarkable."
Harry nodded, recognizing the natural curiosity that had drawn Y/N into their world. "Building this town was a long and carefully orchestrated process," he explained. "We chose this remote location to remain hidden from those who might wish to expose us or exploit our abilities. Over time, our pack members, both human and wolf, used their unique skills and resources to construct what you see today."
Y/N marveled at the dedication and effort that must have gone into creating the hidden town. It was a testament to the pack's commitment to their way of life.
As she absorbed this information, she couldn't help but recall Michaela's words. "When Michaela hugged me earlier," Y/N said, "she mentioned that she was glad they found me. What did she mean by that?"
Harry's expression softened, and he regarded her with a knowing look. "Michaela was referring to the concept of mates," he said. "In our world, finding one's mate is a rare and cherished occurrence. It's a deep and profound connection that goes beyond mere romantic love. When mates find each other, it's a cause for celebration and joy within the pack."
Y/N's heart raced at the implication of Harry's words. "Mates? What do you mean by that?"
Harry took a moment to choose his words carefully. "Mates are two souls destined to be together," he explained. "When they meet, there's an undeniable connection, a bond that goes beyond words. It's a profound and irrevocable link, and it often brings a sense of completeness to those who experience it."
Y/N tried to process this revelation, her mind swirling with questions. "What does it have to do with me?
"Because, Y/N, you're my mate."
Silence hung in the room, broken only by the faint hum of distant voices from the packhouse below. Y/N felt as though time had come to a standstill. She couldn't process what she had just heard.
"You're my mate," Harry repeated, his voice filled with a mix of tenderness and anticipation.
Y/N's heart raced, and a thousand questions rushed to her mind. She stammered, "I... I don't understand. What does that mean?"
Harry stepped closer, his presence warm and reassuring. "It means that we share a unique bond, one that transcends time and space. Mates are connected on a profound level, emotionally and spiritually. We're meant to be together."
Y/N was still struggling to grasp the enormity of the revelation. "But why me? Why now?"
Harry sighed, a hint of sadness in his eyes. "The timing is... unusual. We usually discover our mates earlier in life, but sometimes fate has other plans. As for 'why you,' I believe it's because you have a role to play in our pack, a destiny that's intertwined with mine."
He gently cupped Y/N's face, his thumb brushing her cheek. "You're not just any mate, Y/N. You're the Luna—the leader of the pack, my partner in every sense. Together, we'll guide our pack and protect our kind."
Y/N felt overwhelmed by the weight of her newfound role and the connection she shared with Harry. It was a revelation that defied logic and reason, yet she couldn't deny the intense emotions welling up within her. A mixture of fear, curiosity, and a strange sense of destiny filled her.
She looked into Harry's eyes, searching for answers. "What now? What does this mean for us?"

Resi Village crack post in 3...2...1...
*The Lords and MM discussing what to do with MC*
OR:
*MC in the middle of yet another shitshow*
.
MM, pointing her finger: "Heisenberg - the mortal´s fate is in your hands-"
Lady D: "Mother Miranda, I must protest-"
Karl, imitating her in a pitch that is most unpleasant on the ears: "Mother Miranda I must-Oh, SHUT your mouth, super-sized freak!"
Lady D: *eye twitching, pressing her pointer finger to her ear as she recovers from that din*
Lady D, still prodding at her ear: "At least I am capable of producing sounds that will not be mistaken for a dying cat."
Karl: *indignant spluttering*
Angie: "HAHAHAA, she GOT you there! MEEEOOOOW!"
Karl: 😑
Lady D: 😏
MM: *wishes to be literally anywhere else*
Salvatore: *watery laugh*
Salvatore: "Hhahaaha, M-MghaOUUaaGRRahAH!"
...
Karl: "...Wtf was that?"
Angie: "Sounded like a dying cat INSIDE a dying cat! HAHAHAH!"
Salvatore: *watery spluttering*
Lady D: 🤦🏻‍♀️
MM, beneath her mask: 🙄
Karl: "More like a dying cat inside a dying cat on fire. HAH!"
Angie: *more mad cackling*
Salvatore: 🥺
Salvatore: "N-Not n-nice, no-no! Mother, they´re m-mean!"
MM, having zoned out ages ago cause she can´t deal: *elevator music*
MC, from the background: "...I thought it sounded pretty close actually."
...
*elevator music stops*
*everyone turns to her, only now remembering her presence it seems*
MC: *starts to sweat with all those eyes on her, clearly waiting for her to elaborate*
MC: "...I-"
Karl, who recovers first: "If that was a cat then I´m a giraff-eh."
Lady D: *giving Karl a rather extensive once-over*
Lady D, in all honesty: "Hm. The resemblance is quite uncanny."
Karl: *indignant spluttering*
Lady D: "And it´s Juh-RAFF, you ignorant fool."
Angie: "RAFF-RAFF! WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?!"
Salvatore: "Ohh I l-like dogs!"
Angie: "Me too! They´re tasty! HAHAAHHA!"
Salvatore: D:
Donna, finally having found the correct channel: "Now now, Angie... Lulu was an accident."
Angie: "True! We only accidently roasted her over the open fire like a suckling pig!"
Salvatore: D:
MM: *contemplates having some pork for dinner later tonight*
MC: *stomach starts grumbling from all that talk about pigs*
MM: *eyes shooting in MC´s direction at the sound of a lycan*
MC, all by herself: *catches MM´s eyes, gives a shy wave*
MM: *confusion*
MC: *stomach grumbling again*
MM: *realizes there is, in fact, no lycan near*
Also MM: *torn between feeling appalled and impressed at the sounds that stomach is capable of producing*
Karl: "What do you mean Juh-RAFF?! How fucking stupid does that sound?!"
Angie: "RAFF-RA-Mmpf Mhhh-!"
Donna, still covering her mouth: "Now now, Angie..."
Lady D, quickly losing her patience: "It was an exaggeration on my part to make you understand, you idiot manthing!"
Karl: "An exaggeration that was fucking pointless to begin with! Everyone knows it´s giraff-EH!"
Lady D: *eye starts twitching again*
MM: *elevator music*
Donna: *eerily calm as she keeps Angie´s mouth shut*
Angie: "Mpff mhmm! MPFF!"
Salvatore: *still processing the doggie incident*
MC, who clearly has a death wish: "...Actually-"
...
*elevator music stops*
*everyone turns to her*
MC, with a confidence that is entirely misplaced: "It´s giraff-EE."
...
MC: "...Yknow, like, a whole new breed! Futuristic giraffes. Cause they´ll be so advanced, they come with built-in GPS to find those branches!"
...
*tense silence*
MC: *swallows*
Karl: "That´s..."
MC: *prepares for a rather painful death*
Karl: "...Fucking BRILLIANT! HAHAHAHA!"
Angie, muffled: *mad cackling*
Salvatore: *uncertain watery laugh cause he has no idea what that means, dude just wants to feel included man*
Lady D: *torn between slicing MC to ribbons and...other things cause MC got the pronunciation right after all*
MM: *oddly charmed by that...curious specimen*
MC, in the face of it all:
Tumblr media
.
.
.
Yknow that feeling when you´ve won a game but have no fucking clue how you did it cause those damn rules make zero sense to you?
MC knows the feeling.

“Close, close the door,” you said, with an agitated voice after running back to the old estate.
In that remote part of Romania the weather was horrible, cold, and dark, but it was no stranger to have occasional and terrible storms like the one that day. The wind picked up mercilessly on your way back and when the lady in black obeyed your request and closed the doors, you were able to sigh in relief, holding those paper bags as an undisputed triumph.
“Gods, (Y/N), I told you not to go out,” the lady in black, Donna Beneviento, protested. She was previously one of the village's Lords, currently your girlfriend, your romance, the love of your life.
Your daring and bravery had granted you the reward that long ago you believed was just a fantasy, just the dream of finding true love, the right person to care for, and who would care for you. Although it was true that one of the almost divine Lords of the place was not in your thoughts, from the moment you had her close enough, you understood that perhaps she was the one.
She was a dangerous woman, feared by everyone, loved by no one until you arrived. If Mother Miranda herself could see what happened after those meetings, it probably wouldn't have taken you too long to become a horrible Lycan.
But, apparently, and according to the less shy side of Donna, known for being her inseparable puppet, Angie, it never posed any problem with the rest of the rulers, nor with Mother Miranda herself.
Nobody gave you anything. You had to make every effort to know, to know how to enter that disturbed and sick mind. Love was the answer. Only the love you swore you felt managed to uncover that veil from her face and see for yourself how right your heart was.
“It doesn't matter, you know I can do anything,” you said, holding your breath and enduring the strong attacks of the wind on the door, which threatened to open. Your fake smile was not a secret to her, who, distrustful, came to help you with the shopping.
“You could have been blown away by the wind and...” The lady in black murmured, holding your hand tightly, betraying her own nervousness. You laughed tenderly, brushing off her always exaggerated concerns.
“Donna, it's okay, I'm here and most importantly...” You whispered, amused, in her ear, making her expression change from concern to curiosity. Well, they were quite similar. “…I have those tomatoes you wanted...”
“A few tomatoes are not enough to risk your life, tesoro,” the doll maker commented, looking at you as if she believed it was the last time she would see you.
Soon your smile spread to her face and, with Angie too busy with the shopping bags, you had the perfect occasion for one of those moments of perfect love, for one of those slow, long, wet kisses, which reaffirmed neither of you made the wrong decision.
For once, it wasn't that sinister porcelain puppet that interrupted a safe path to the bedroom, or any other place where you could give free rein to your passion. What sounded was much more terrible than a thunder, much more terrifying than the wind blowing through the mountains. It seemed as if one of the few trees on the old estate had collapsed, taking with it the glass from one of the windows.
“Mother Miranda!” You shouted, approaching startled, being stopped abruptly by the hand of the woman in black.
“Don't come close, per favore, it could be dangerous,” she told you, pulling you strongly, so hard that it even hurt you.
Fortunately, you were used to those reactions. Her mental problems didn't come out often, but when they do, they seemed uncontrollable. Instead of rolling your eyes and grumbling, you relaxed your expression, turning around and placing your hands on her shoulders to help her breathe calmly and relaxed.
“Donna, my love, we have a damn tree going through the window, something is has to be done,” you said amused, struggling with the fingers that pressed tightly against your skin.
“The gardener will take care of it,” she murmured, making Angie stop rummaging through the bags and run towards you.
“What gardener, silly Donna?” The puppet asked, with her hands placed comically on either side of her hips. “The one you made fall into the void?”
That sentence made something inside the lady in black explode, running away from the room, presumably to regret her past actions crying in some corner.
“Angie...” You sighed, knowing that in those moments, Donna would want to be alone, and they wouldn't last long.
“What?” the doll asked, as if you had said something strange.
“Aren't you supposed to be her only company?” You asked in a scolding tone, to which she turned her back on you in a comical manner, showing that obvious jealousy she had towards you.
“So?” She responded mockingly. “I think I’m not anymore, what are you doing here, you Donna stealer?”
“Oh, come on,” you sighed, tired of that irritating doll's attitude. “Anyway, I'll take a look...”
You couldn't do anything to remove that annoying tree from the window. Much to your regret, you would have to call some other Lord to help you, but it couldn't be that same day, it was too late. At that moment your real priority, as always, was Donna, just Donna.
Once the Lord was able to calm down, thanks to the hot bath you prepared for her, it was time for dinner.
“It's delicious, my love,” you said with a tender voice, enjoying the delicious food that the lady in black prepared for you every day. She raised her head and smiled gratefully with a blush on her cheeks.
“Thank you (Y/N), I have to admit that if you hadn't brought these tomatoes...” She whispered, looking askance at the tree that crossed the window.
You leaned back, resting your hands behind your head and raising your eyebrows, satisfied.
“See? I saved your dinner,” you joked, looking at the fork disinterestedly.
“Life, you have saved my life, (Y/N),” Donna commented in a sad voice, thanking you for existing, for having appeared in her life to change it completely. You smiled even wider, shaking your head.
It could be another of the hundreds of tender and romantic moments but the unpleasant noise of that tree hitting the walls served as a merciless cut to your emotional connection, making both of you turn your heads.
“Okay, what are we going to do with that?” You asked, pointing to the broken window with a cutlery. Donna shrugged for a few seconds, pouring you another glass of wine.
“I don't know...” Donna sighed, shaking his head.
“Hey, the gardener's cabin...” You mumbled, not wanting to bring up that unmentionable topic directly, something not very wise since the cutlery was colliding due to the trembling of her hands.
“What's wrong with that cabin?” She asked abruptly, frowning and changing the love that her face conveyed for a totally irrational hate.
“Nothing, just maybe there is some tool there so we can cut down that tree,” you commented after an awkward silence. Donna sighed and shook her head.
“I doubt there is anything useful in that place, (Y/N),” the lady in black whispered, as if the simple comment had offended her. You rolled your eyes. Okay, no gardeners. “I'll call my brother to help us.”
“Oh, yeah, great, the metal psychopath...” You whispered, getting up from the table. “It's okay, Donna. Anyway, I'm going to go out and take a look outside, in case anything else has happened.”
The lady in black, realizing she had become nervous again for no reason, sighed, nodding and standing with you, gently holding you by the waist.
“Hey, tesoro... Forgive me, okay?” She whispered in your ear, making a shiver run through your body and your mouth forming a smile before you turned around and kissed her tenderly.
“Donna, I have nothing to forgive you for,” you said back, whispering into her lips and giving her one last tender and understanding kiss. “Everything is fine, okay? I didn't mean to remember your past.”
“I know... I'm sorry, I'm really...” She stammered, being interrupted by one of your quick kisses, by your relaxing caresses, the only way for her to stop apologizing for her problems, ones that weren't her fault.
“Hey, okay my love,” you whispered, resting your forehead on hers. “You should calm down, okay? I'm going to take a quick look and get back to you right away.”
“Wait, I… I'm going with you,” Donna said, following you towards the exit. You rolled your eyes but nodded. Well, after all, that was her house.
With two flashlights in hand, you both left the house. The storm had stopped, but the cold cut like blades into your skin.
“Okay... that's the problem,” you said, shining light on that tree that had no other place to land than the window.
“Your detective skills are admirable, (Y/N),” Donna joked, making you turn around with a frown.
“Oh, now it's the funny Donna time?” You asked ironically breathing calmly because the doll maker's nerves had completely dissipated.
Your soft laughter eclipsed for a moment the sinister sound of the night, but something, a different noise that didn’t fit with that curious soundtrack, made your smile fade.
“Wait, did you hear that?” You said, shining the flashlight around. Donna shook her head, pointing her flashlight at the same spot.
They were moans, pitiful moans that made the atmosphere much more sinister. It wasn't a Lycan, it wasn't some creature that was part of "Miranda's army." It sounded mundane.
“Maybe it’s a bird?” the lady in black asked, always following you closely while you diligently searched for the source of the sound. You shook your head, illuminating what looked like a broken tree ahead of the fences that delimited the mansion.
“I don't think so, no bird would make a noise like that,” you murmured, searching through the branches and finally finding the injured animal. “Oh, Gods… Donna!”
“What happen?” The lady in black said immediately, looking towards the same place. “(Y/N)…”
Under a branch, wailing in pain, there was an injured dog, probably due to the fall of that branch. It was a big dog, a German shepherd, with its paw down on that heavy branch. It seemed badly hurt, but not enough to give him up.
“We have to do something, let's help it,” you commented, walking among the fallen tree, looking for the best way to get the animal out of its improvised cage. “Stay with it, Donna, I'll see if I can get this branch out.”
The woman in black nodded, crouching down to observe the animal while you searched the branches for the cause of its pain.
When you moved one of the branches, the dog barked loudly, scaring Donna and causing her to back away in fear.
“Donna! I have already found the problem, keep it calm while I lift the branch,” you said, watching the woman at all times, who was trembling with fear.
"No, I can't, (Y/N), I, I'm afraid that it might do something to me..." Donna murmured, moving further and further away. You sighed and ran a hand over your forehead, just as an idea crossed your head.
“Try to use your powers to see if you can relax it,” you said, giving up on your attempt to lift the branch, since the animal was suffering a lot.
Donna obeyed, extending her hands towards the animal, which immediately stopped complaining.
“Great, great...” You sighed. “Try to get it out now. Come on, one two… And three.”
With a superhuman effort, the animal managed to get out, almost unconscious due to the skill of the Lord.
The two of you brought the injured dog into the house, ready to treat it.
“What is that thing?” Angie asked, seeing you arrive with the dog in your arms.
You rolled your eyes again, not paying attention to the doll, who of course, didn’t seem happy with this new guest.
“Leave it on the table. I'll go get the first aid kit,” Donna said, once in the basement, in the small laboratory where the lady in black used to work on better ways to serve Mother  Miranda.
You nodded as you petted the animal, which was breathing easier thanks to Donna's skill.
“Hey, come on, you're a good boy, right? And very brave...” You whispered very close to it, reassuring it when the woman in black approached with an injection. “What's that?”
“A tranquilizer,” she commented, approaching cautiously.
“Hey, be careful, it's a dog, not an intruder,” you joked, stroking the animal's fur, trying to joke, as almost always, without success.
“You were an intruder,” Donna said, resentful of those words. “And I didn't do anything to you.”
“Oh, I think you did,” you said, when the needle stuck in the dog, who complained weakly. Donna looked at you with a bit of hate. “You drove me crazy.”
Disinfecting the wound, bandaging it, checking that the dog had no other problems, was a hard work, requiring a lot of time and concentration. With the animal asleep and relaxed, it was time to ask the big question, the one that could have multiple answers, but only one was valid for you.
“What are we going to do?” You asked sighing, checking the condition of the dog while Donna washed her hands. Obviously Donna wasn't stupid, she could already guess what you meant by that.
“What are you talking about?” She asked, leaning next to you on the table and looking at the animal. “You are not thinking…”
“No, I…” You responded abruptly. “I mean, it doesn't have a collar and Well…”
“(Y/N) I... No, I'm not ready to...” Donna murmured, avoiding your pleading look, the look that said you had found a new family member by chance.
“I didn't say that we have to...” You said, avoiding getting nervous about the silent proposal that Donna caught on the fly. “Well, I haven't said it but I don't think it's a bad idea.”
“No, (Y/N), having an animal is a big responsibility and we don't...” The woman in black explained, bringing her insecurities to light.
“Aren't we responsible?” You asked, starting to feel more and more like taking care of that animal. “Come on Donna, just think about it.”
“I have nothing to think about, the dog will stay until it is cured but then...” Donna said with a more serious, severe tone, very similar to the one she used when you were just a poor lost villager, accidentally entering her grounds.
“What then? Are you going to abandon it?” You asked, with an annoying, offensive tone, wanting to appeal to her feelings, to her pleas for you not to leave, to the continuous allusion she made to her terrible loneliness.
“No, I didn't say that, I...” She defended herself, predicting an imminent argument, something that you tried to avoid whenever possible. “Io…Non…”
“Donna, listen to me,” you said, hastily stopping those nervous words, that lack of control of language that warned Donna's problems were once again an obstacle to your relationship. “Don't be nervous, my love... I'm just saying that maybe it's not so bad to have a dog, don't you think?”
“I had a dog when I was a little girl,” the lady in black explained, coordinating her breathing with yours to relax and not break out into a terrible nervous breakdown.
“Okay,” you said in a tone more like a whisper, letting your love express the reason for her refusal.
“My... My father... He cut its...” She stammered, thus making her nervousness worse.
“Okay, enough, Donna, that's the past. I'm very sorry about your dog but...” You said, putting your hands on her shoulders. “None of that is going to happen now, none of that, do you hear me?”
“How can you be so sure? You know that I have problems. You know that I have attacks and I don't know if I could... If I could...”
“Shhh, it's okay, my love...” You said, shutting her up with a kiss, leaving aside the horrible ghosts of her past. “I have told you a thousand times and I will tell you a thousand more if necessary: you are not your family, you are not your past, Donna. You are my love, my beautiful Donna. You're good, I know you are.”
“You say that because you want to make me feel better,” Donna protested, while you wiped away a tear that was sliding down her cheek. You, instead of sinking, smiled.
“I'm here, right? You didn't hurt me. I know you don't want to hurt anyone, no matter what Miranda says. You're not like them, not to me, not to this poor little dog, and you know it, right?”
Donna didn't respond, just nodded slowly as she squeezed your hands tightly, looking over your shoulder at the unconscious animal.
“Look, let's do something,” you said with a firmer tone. “Let's let the dog heal and then... Well, we'll see what we do, okay?”
“It's… It's okay…”
Days passed and the animal improved a lot. It was not aggressive, it didn’t growl, it didn’t bark, rather it was grateful, making every effort it could to walk normally. You took care of it, just like you promised Donna. You fed him, gave him water, took him for short walks... Basically, it was like it was just your dog.
But one day, when it didn't seem to want to play ball with you, something changed.
“Donna,” you said, drawing the attention of the woman in black, who was reading calmly in her armchair. She looked at you and then at the dog, who was waiting patiently sitting with a small ball at its side, staring at the lady in black. “I think it wants to play with you.”
“With me?” She asked, reluctant to spend time with the animal. You laughed, bending down to pick up the ball and hand it to Donna roughly.
“What do you think? Come on, throw the ball to Rocky,” you said amused, with a bark of approval from the animal.
“Rocky? Since when does it has a name?” She asked, taking the ball with a grimace of disgust probably due to the animal's drool.
“I put it on, since I'm the only one who takes care of it,” you said proudly. Donna snorted in annoyance, but she made to throw the ball, after which the animal became excited, standing up and wagging its tail anxiously.
With the force of a summer breeze, Donna threw the ball, which ended up very close, but that was not enough reason for Rocky to not running for it, returning it effusively, jumping on the sofa and covering Donna with licks while Donna fought unsuccessfully.
“(Y/N), help me,” the lady in black protested, fighting against the animal's affection. You laughed and shook your head.
“Why? He's giving you some love,” you scoffed, watching in surprise as Rocky seemed to have an unexpected favorite human. “Come on, Rocky, down.”
The animal came down the moment it heard your voice, leaving poor Donna alone, who couldn't help but smile while she wiped away the excess of “love” the dog had left on her face.
“Thank you, (Y/N),” she said, catching her breath and looking at the animal, which began to play with the ball on its own.
“It seems like he's fond of you,” you murmured, sitting next to her so you could tease her closer. “I don't know why, honestly.”
“Me neither,” she said, amused, letting you kiss her quickly, thus showing your silent triumph. “Hey, maybe we could…”
“Yeah?” You said hastily, hoping to hear what you had already sensed for a long time.
“Maybe it's not such a bad idea to have a dog, right?” She asked in a low voice, her pride taking over every word. You raised your eyebrows, feigning indifference. “Maybe, maybe it could even... Well, protect us.”
“Protect us?” You asked, now, surprised by that curious answer.
“Well I... I was thinking about what you told me the other day and... You're right, (Y/N), I don't want to hurt anyone else,” Donna explained, with that voice that encouraged you to lean down a little and take her trembling hand.
“I know, my love, I know you don't want to hurt anyone else,” you said, holding her chin so she could look into your eyes.
“That's why I think that if... Well, if we could teach Rocky to protect the estate, maybe there's no need for me...” Donna continued, frowning thoughtfully as she followed the dog with her gaze.
“Look, that's a great idea, Donna,” you said, nodding. “Besides, I've already taught him to sit. Rocky, come here!”
“Let me go, you kind of dinosaur!” A shrill scream that made you grimace unpleasantly filled the peaceful room.
You had to try hard not to laugh out loud. The dog, with a relaxed, proud walk, carried the Angie doll in his jaws. The puppet protested, trying to hit the animal, but she had nothing to do. At that moment you really doubted whether to help the doll or let her suffer a bit more.
“Angie!” Donna shouted, standing up abruptly, but stopped by a hand on her chest.
“Help! Help!” The doll squealed, kicking as best she could while you walked towards Rocky, covering your mouth with your hand so as not to reveal the fun that this situation gave you.
“Come on, Rocky, let her go,” you said with a tone a little less severe than you should have, on purpose, of course.
The dog didn’t obey, holding the puppet in his mouth, as if he could read your thoughts.
“Rocky, let her go,” Donna said, with a firm, direct voice, which miraculously made the dog obey instantly, making you frown.
“I can't believe it,” you said, shaking your head. “Rocky, sit down.”
The dog barked, but didn’t obey, approaching Donna, looking at her respectfully, wanting her words to be the ones that ordered him to do something.
“Sit down,” Donna said, hugging a scared Angie.
As expected, the animal obeyed, making you growl in rage.
And so, knowing that for some reason, the lady in black became Rocký's only favorite, time passed. Donna quickly adapted to this strange devotion to her. A devotion that made you somewhat envious at first since, given the reluctance of the woman in black to add a member to your family, she now didn’t seem to want to separate herself from him.
During meals, Rocky was there, on walks in the forest, the dog had fun hunting and playing ball with Donna tirelessly. At bedtime, instead of the small porcelain barrier that separated your bodies so you wouldn't hug each other, there was now a furry ball that prevented you from getting close to the brunette.
His protective role was significant. Any person or animal that dared to approach the estate provoked the animal's aggressive growls. No one in their right mind would ever dare bother you.
There was already love in that house, so much love that it was unbearable, but with Rocky's new addiction to your little family, love counted for three. An inseparable companion for that strange family, a reminder that told Donna she was not her past, she was capable of loving and being loved, not only by you, but by nature itself.
