Subway stops
Rise! Donnie x Gender Neutral! Reader
IM BACK BITCHES! Sorry it took so long, life got crazy man. But I’m at college now so yippee! And I finally present you with my long awaited Donatello one shot subway stops
Enjoy!
The first time you ever met Donatello was precisely 8 years and 6 months ago. A very specific amount of time, but since that first moment where small tear filled eyes meet the gaze of wide shocked ones you’ve counted the days between each meeting you inevitably have with the purple terrapin. Especially after you two became romantically intertwined, but I digress.
You met him when you were 6. One of your front teeth had fallen out earlier that morning so your cheery mood couldn’t even begin to be dampened. Clutching tightly onto your mother’s hand, your tiny feet stumbled across the concrete floors of the New York Subway station. She had just retrieved you from your mandatory after school extracurricular activity and wanted to get the both you home as soon as possible. It was Dad’s turn to make dinner that night. You remembered him mentioning it that morning before your mother took you to school.
Your father’s cooking by all means wasn’t perfect, but he was definitely the better cook out of your parents. Your mother’s stride quickened as she weaved through the thick crowd of New Yorkers.
In the corner of your eye you saw an old poster for the 5th Lou Jitsu movie on the wall. Your interest was immediately peaked and you slowed down your jog to stare at it longer. You stood there admiring the poster as your mother’s grip slipped and she continued through the crowd without you.
It was a few moments of uninterrupted admiring went bye till you reached to squeeze your mother’s hand but it wasn’t there. She was gone and you were left all alone.
All
Alone ……
Shocked to your core, you numbly glance back at the Lou Jitsu poster hoping it’ll bring you comfort.
Someone shoved into you as they were heading towards their own destination and the impact brown your resolve. You started bawling and ran towards the least crowded area you could see with your blurry vision.
Everything was caving in on you, ringing all around. There was no way out. No salvation. No mom to comfort you.
No one
No way out
NO
WAY
OUT
“Um.. A-are you ok?” A small voice inquired. You shoved you face farther into your arms. During your panic you had fallen and closed in upon yourself for some semblance of comfort.
“ ‘mn not ok. I’m lost and I don’t have my mommy a-and someone shoved me and I-I-I” you could barely get out a full sentence before the tears came out like a flood.
This startled the other child and he sat down next to you rocking back and forth. “I’m not the best at comforting others, but I promised my brothers I’d try so uh don’t cry…..please.”
You glanced up from your arms and sniffed “…..you really aren’t good at comforting”
“HEY! AT LEAST IM TRYING! Empathy isn’t really my thing” he snapped. Looking at his face you realized he was a turtle… or well a turtle who looked human. Or was he a Herman looking turtle-ANYWAY back to the turtle boy thing.
“Well..” you pondered “what is your thing Mr. Turtle” Your lips upturned a bit at his frustration, he may not be good at comforting but he was really funny to talk too that’s for sure.
“I’m glad you asked peasant for I am the greatest GENUIS SCIENTIST, DONATELLO! You can applaud now. Go ahead.” He boasted as he waved his three fingered hand at you, urging you to clap.
You snickered as a laugh bubbled from your chest, “Oh yea? Great and powerful scientist Donatello. What science do you do?”
“I invent things obviously” he rolled his eyes. Donatello’s face went blank for a moment, his eyes focused ahead as he mulled over a thought. He looked back at you and thought once more before speaking again.
“You can call me Donnie, not even my dad calls me Donatello.” He fiddled with his fingers “-WAIT! you never told me your name”
“My name? Oh uh-“ you uttered your name to Donnie and he nodded as he repeated it.
“Well now that we are properly acquainted-“
Donnie stopped his sentence as both of you hear your name being frantically yelled. The woman sounded heartbroken and desperate to find you. Wait, you knew who that was.
“MOMMA!” you jumped up as you faced her direction. You couldn’t see her from where you were but she was here. She had really came.
“Is that your mom?” Donnie asked. His words startled you as you quickly turned around to face him.
“Yea it is” Your tone got quieter, but an idea popped into you head and you jumped up startling the port turtle, “ Hey, let’s be friends ok? I think your funny so um meet me here tomorrow ok?” You proposed with stars in your eyes.
“Oh uh yea ok.” Donnie nodded, taking over your proposition, “Yea I’ll see you tomorrow right here”
“Right here!” You smiled at him and grabbed his hands to swing around with your own. Your mother cried your name and you yelled back to her that your coming.
You took one last look at Donnie before you let his hands go and went back to your mother’s waiting arms. As you were walking , you turned around to walk backwards and yelled “TOMMOROW!”
Donnie gave a small smile and cupped his hands over his mouth to yell back “TOMORROW!”
He waved as you turned back around rushing towards your frantic mother. Yeah Donnie was definitely looking forward to tomorrow. After all, he had his own special friend to hang out with and show how cool he was.
Tomorrow was gonna be amazing.
It took me two years BUT ITS DONE HAHAHAHAH also Imma change my name cause I’m not felling my old one anymore. As always Thxs for reading and Cowabunga

Casual
Ranboo x Reader (Female)
Warnings: None, unless talking about the future counts
Genre: FLUFF, Humor, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: Following the arrival of the dreadful invitation to his cousin’s wedding Ranboo turns to the only cover-up he can think of to keep his still-single status hidden from his family.
Requested by Anon. Hi darling! Thank you so much for your wonderful request! I’m so glad you sent your idea to me and I’m so glad you were my first official Ranboo request. I’m really sorry it’s taken me so long to write it but I still hope you’ll come across it and read it! Love, Vy ❤
“Heyyy, so Y/N, I have a favor to ask you...um yeah, call me back, it’s awkward sending it via voicemail. Bye“
Huh - that’s the first thought that goes through my head when I listen to the voicemail left after a missed call from my best friend Ranboo. The favors he usually asks for consist of requesting assistance for his videos in which I also appear with a mask and sunglasses to keep the brand running. I genuinely have nothing against my face being shown but when I think about it, I’m honestly a bit glad people can’t identify me.
Anyways, back to the favors, Ranboo is no stranger to asking me for them but they’ve never been considered too awkward for a voicemail which is why I’m no slightly concerned. I’ve been swamped with work for school and studies for the graduation finals for the past two weeks and it seems like I’ll never get on top of it and I know Ranboo’s been in a similar situation too, so maybe he needs help with that? He’s not used to asking help for school stuff, he sometimes even has a hard time accepting it when I openly offer it to him.
I eventually sigh, decide that playing this guessing game will not get me anywhere and settle on giving him a call as I make my way home from the gym with my legs barely putting up with the task of carrying me around.
He picks up on the second ring.
“Hey! Wh-...“
“Would you pretend to be my girlfriend for my cousin’s wedding next weekend?!“
My legs take that opportunity to stop moving in the middle of the sidewalk which is luckily void of any people at the moment. It’s not my fault my body’s first reaction was to freeze up at the question that came flying at me like an out-of-control jet, almost as though he’s been dying to say it and get it over with.
“Um...run that by me again please, I think I misunderstood.“ I say, blinking blankly as though awoken from a fever dream. No, actually as though I’m IN a fever dream right now.
“Ok, now that the cat’s out of the bag, wanna grab some coffee and talk about it face-to-face. I need to see your facial expressions to gauge what response to expect.“ He says, the previous nervousness gone and his voice calm as regularly once again.
I’m this close to face-palming but I squeeze my eyes tightly shut and bring myself to utter a reply, “Our usual spot. Be there in ten minutes.”
* * *
“No freaking way.“ I shake my head, folding my arms over my chest as I lean back in my seat in the booth we picked when we arrived. Good thing I got an iced coffee cause even a hot one would’ve gone cold by now considering I haven’t yet taken the time to have even a sip of it. I’ve been too busy listening to the long and short of the explanation and begging speech Ranboo probably made last night to try and convince me to agree to this nonsense. “Dude, we’ve been friends since middle school-...“
“Exactly! Who else was I gonna ask?“ He cuts me off, pleading gaze meeting my unimpressed one.
I huff before continuing my previous statement, “We’ve been friends since middle school so you know my opinion on weddings.” I put extra emphasis on the word ‘opinion’, giving him the clear hint at the distaste I’ve expressed on the topic multiple times before.
“And you know we’re on the same page there but there’s no way I can avoid going unless someone kidnaps me.“ He too now gets in the same stance as me, his coffee forgotten too.
I can’t help but snort out a little laugh, “I’d be more than happy to kidnap you considering the other option is far less appealing to me.“
He, of course, rolls his eyes at me as though he didn’t offer to do the same thing so I could avoid an exam but anyways. “So you’re gonna choose to fake a kidnapping that has the potential of landing you in jail over coming to eat some great food and maybe even have some fun at a wedding with your best friend? I’m hurt.“ He says, frowning to cover up the smile that’s fighting its way onto his face.
Now it’s my turn to roll my eyes, “I’d be kidnapping you, dummy...” I cut myself off to let out a long sigh and calm down before I go off at him. His smirk isn’t helping me much with the task either. I’ve known Ranboo long enough to know he’ll eventually convince me and he’s known me long enough to know how to do that exactly. With that in mind, there’s really no point in getting so worked up and wasting my energy. And so, despite my own rationality, I cave. “Fine, but I’m not staying the whole wedding.“
His eyes immediately light up and almost makes me feel the compromise was worth it. Almost. I mean, when you’ve been best friends with someone for so long, seeing them happy is worth more to you than your own comfort sometimes.
And he knows it too. Which is exactly why he outstretches his hand for me to shake and says: “Just one dance and you’re free to go. Deal?”
I take his hand without hesitations. That’s a better offer than I could’ve ever imagined. “Damn straight it’s a deal.“
* * *
“How long until you kick the heels off?“ Ranboo asks, bringing me a non-alcoholic cocktail and sitting down next to me.
I take a sip and giggle, “You kidding? I already kicked them off and replaced them with flats. I need mobility if we dance. They also lower the risk of me severing off a toe of yours if I step on you on accident.”
He laughs, clinking his glass against mine before he gets a bit more serious, “By the way, thanks for handling my family’s attack so well. I know it might’ve been a bit much but you handled it like a pro. Still, I’m sorry on their behalf.”
I shake my head and wave my hand dismissively, “Don’t mention it. I’d probably react the same way if my brother or cousin brought a date to an important family event like this.” I instinctively turn to look in the direction of where the majority of his family has gathered around, chatting with guests, smiling brightly. It’s hard not to immediately take a liking towards these people. They’ve been a second family to me ever since Ranboo and I started hanging out so I completely understand why they were so shocked to see me in the role of his ‘girlfriend’.
“I’ll tell my parents the truth later, our extended family is the ones I wanted to fool to be perfectly honest.“ He looks around as do I and we catch more than a few pairs of eyes fixated on us that turn away when they realize they’ve been spotted, “Mission accomplished by the looks of it.“
I chuckle. I’ve never felt so comfortable at a wedding before. I don’t feel stressed nor anxious despite knowing that there’s quite the number of eyes on me and there are whispers going around about my ‘relationship’ with Ranboo. It’s oddly calming and relaxing to be surrounded by some familiar and some unfamiliar faces. This cocktail is pretty great too.
Speaking of which, if it had any alcohol in it I’d blame it for the decision I’m about to make but this one’s entirely on me: I tap Ranboo with one hand while taking out my phone with the other. “If we’re already the talk of the wedding, let’s give them something to talk about.“ I say as I put up my phone, pretending to be taking a selfie leaning in to give him a kiss on the cheek.
When I pull away I can clearly see that he’s still processing what just happened. I can’t help but burst out in a fit of laughter as I reach out to wipe the lipstick stain I left on his cheek. He looks like a lost, clueless puppy with the question: ‘what on Earth just happened???’ replaying in his head and it’s so freaking cute!
Wait....what was that? Since when do I use the adjective cute to describe Ranboo? Didn’t I think he looks handsome in a suit earlier too? The hell is with me today?
Then it hits me - the feeling isn’t foreign. Like, I know I’ve felt it before but I never analyzed it or even bothered to acknowledge it. But now that I do, I’m afraid of what it might be.
“There!“ I say, desperately trying to push the thoughts away along with this little firework show in my stomach, “Now you have pinker cheeks. Well, cheek, singular.“
As if snapping out of his state of confusion, he returns to Earth with a smirk, “Kiss the other to even it?”
Alright, his blush might not be even but mine now is and it’s ten times as intense and very much apparent but I don’t let the feeling shine through anything else as I proceed to actually kiss his other cheek too, wiping the lipstick stain.
“Thanks. You’re the best.” And just like that, as though it’s no big deal, he kisses my forehead.
See, that’s the thing, it shouldn’t be a big deal! It’s never been! This is far from the first time I’ve kissed him on the cheek or the first time he’s given me a forehead kiss. These are regular occurrences after years of this lovely friendship we have. Why do they feel so different now?
Then, much to my relief, the music starts and the lights turn off leaving only one spotlight for the groom and bride to have their first dance. They look absolutely astonishing and I can certainly say I’ve never before stopped to think that about any newly weds of the weddings I’ve preciously been to. I don’t know if it has something to do with the company I have for this particular wedding or it’s maybe the fact that my mindset’s changed over the years without me realizing.
Then I automatically look at Ranboo who just so happens to be looking at me too and all I can say is: my mindset hasn’t changed.
A loud applause takes over when the couple finish their dance, officially opening the dancefloor for any other pairs who’d like to occupy it and I’m happy to see how many people are eager to rush up with their partner.
Ranboo gets up, putting the glass down and offers me his hand, “So, wanna dance? Don’t take this as a sign to leave though, we said one dance and you CAN leave, not SHOULD.” He says, giving me a warning look.
I roll my eyes and am about to give him some sass right back but he takes my hand and picks me up from my seat, leading me to the dancefloor. And I gotta admit maybe it’s a good thing he did. If he left it to me I would’ve probably said no to the dance and ran the hell away. Why? - Cause I’m freaking terrified of this new mindset and point of view and these intense emotions I never used to pay any mind to before in regards to my best friend.
Friends don’t feel that way about friends. Friends don’t look at friends that way. What’s happening to me?
When I gotta look him in the eyes like this, not for the first time might I add, I can finally understand how the friends-to-lovers trope works: it’s all meaningless until it starts to mean so much to you. It’s all platonic until it reminds you of a romantic movie moment. It ‘best friends’ until it’s ‘I wish we were more than that’. It’s all casual, until it’s not.
And, unfortunately, it’s irreversible.
Damn do I wish I ran away now...

Remus flopped out of bed, throwing his body carelessly across the room. He hastily threw on his clothes. Short shorts, ripped fishnets, a vest that was more patches than original material, really big clunky shoes, and a ripped up band-t. He also hooked his favorite bone earrings in his tattered earlobes.
He stomped into his apartment’s kitchen. He grabbed a stale piece of bread he soaked it in coffee. Yawned and grabbed his bag, racing out the door.
His brother was waiting for him at the tattoo shop, sketching a new idea. Unlike him, Roman only had a few tattoos, including not one, not two, not three… but three Disney quotes, a frog on a mushroom, a rose on his arm, and a constellation. Most of his tattoos were covered by tasteful burgundy overalls and a white button-down shirt.
Remus’ tattoos were also mostly covered by his clothes. But he had a tattoo sleeve depicting the garden of Eden, a matching frog on a mushroom, a quote from one of Roman’s books, medically accurate bone structures on his hand, a realistic spider on his neck, and a snake wrapping around his non-sleeved arm. And those were just the visible ones.
Suffice to say, the twins were very different.
Remus threw his bag onto the floor in the backroom, “Ro, when’s the first appointment!!” he yelled. “Your’s? At 11. FYI, Jan n’ Pat are coming over at 12, for motivation” Remus smiled, fuckin’ superb.
He busied himself in collecting the ink and preparing the tattoo gun. The client wanted a fucking orange on their wrist, it should only take an hour or two but Remus was not excited to do a frickin’ orange circle.
The prissy orange bitch came in and Remus got to work. They didn’t move much and only cried a little bit when the needle started jabbing at their skin. Remus liked this part of the process, stabbing people consensually was his favorite thing ever… also the art part but stabbing people!
Almost exactly an hour later the door jingled open. “Dada!!” a tiny voice called back into the store. “I’ll be there in a minute patty-cake” Remus called from his spot hunched over the client's arm.
He added the final touches to the fruit and helped the orange bitch off the chair. Roman swept the client away, Remus practically ran to greet his partner and son.
Janus wore a leather corset over a black collared shirt and baggy pants, their long platinum hair framed their face under their signature hat. They were holding hands with a toddler wearing mostly pink and blue, his blond hair (that matched Janus’) was a mop of curls barely held together by a few butterfly clips.
“Dada, Dada!!! I got you a flower” the little boy cried, letting go of Janus’ hand and stumbling towards the tall man who scooped him up. Patton giggled and held out a sweaty flower clenched in his chubby fist.
Remus accepted the flower with a gasp, ”this is really for me?” he said joyfully. Adjusting the small boy in his arms Remus turned towards Janus who was looking at the pair with a disgustingly sappy expression.
“What are you lookin’ at hot stuff?” Remus teased. “Shut it you,” Janus said, pressing a kiss to Remus’ check. Patton made a noise, “icky” he said pushing Janus away. They laughed, “yes darling, we’re very icky”.
“When’s verge-“
“he’ll be home at 4”
“Dope”
“Stop by the Sleepy Café before you bring Pat to the apartment?”
“Can do scootal-lo!”
Remus turned back to the little boy in his arms, “looks like you're stuck with me squirt”. Patton beamed and snuggled into Remus’ chest. Janus smiled again, “I’ll see you, boys, at dinner,” they said, ruffling Pat's hair and peaking Remus on the lips quickly so as to not upset the toddler. “Bye-bye Janny!!” Patton called after Janus as they left for work.
“Righty-o,” Remus said, carrying Patton into the back room. “I know Ro’s got a couple coloring books, wanna do those for a bit?” Patton nodded and reached towards the ground to be put down. Remus plopped Patton on the couch and pulled out the book and pens as well as a sketchbook off his own. They sat together coloring and drawing until Roman came back to hug Patton.
“Ah, my favorite nephew!” Roman said, scooping up the little boy. Patton laughed and pulled Roman’s hair. “Roro, can I color your arm pictures??” he asked, pointing to Roman’s rose tattoo. Roman plopped the toddler back down on the couch and handed him a pen.
Patton went to work on the rose, scribbling reds and pinks and greens across his arm. Roman gave him complements each time Patton paused, and each time Patton shushed him and went back to work. Remus finished up his sketch, adding it to the pile of tattoo ideas they were eventually going to put up-front, and sat next to the toddler.
“That’s really good pat-”
“Shhhhhhhh”
Remus nodded and mimed zipping his lips. He liked spending time with the kid. They weren’t biologically related but who gives a fuck about blood, unless it’s outside of your body, then it’s fun.
---------------------------------------------------------------
“I don’ wanna” Patton wined his dad sighed “I know bubbles but we gotta go home to Papa and Janny, isn’t that fun” Patton considered this, “but Roro’s pretty arm picture” he argued. Remus scratched the back of his neck, “Pffffff- Ummm, how about this, we go home now and I’ll take you back to the shop tomorrow after pre-school”
Patton brightened considerably, “ok” he chirped. “up please” the toddler’s chubby hands reached towards Remus who obediently scooped him up with a coo. After all who was he to say no to uppy hands.
“See ya tomorrow, have fun on your date with the nerd” Remus sang as he snatched his bag juggling the still fussy Patton in his other arm. “Fu- Frick off Re. Say hi to your partners for me,” Romans said affectionately and waved as his twin left the building.
Remus happily trotted out into the road. The tattoo shop was located on a quaint little street in the more commercial segment of their town only a short walk from Janus’ job.
A light drizzle floated around them and the air was warm and comforting. Patton squealed as a large drop of water hit him in the head, prompting a laugh from Remus.
A jingle sounded through the peaceful cafe, the brown room was illuminated by those cool old fashion lights and a lovely array of pastries made the air smell of chocolate and blueberry scones. But the scones, as delicious as they were, weren’t the snack Remus was here for
“Hey babe- Remus why are you soaking wet”
“Puddle” Patton screeched.
“Kid’s right, Puddle.”
Janus pinched their eyebrows, “ya know what, I’m not even surprised anymore. Just make sure Patton doesn’t catch a cold” they scolded.
Remus nodded and saluted in mock seriousness, “yes captain” he said and pressed a kiss to Janus’ face over the cash register, “I’ll see ya in a bit” Remus grinned and led Patton back out of the cafe.
Janus sighed lovingly as they watched their boyfriend and son turn to cross the street, Patton’s hand clasped around Remus’ happily. “Stop looking so happy, you're scaring the customers” Remy teased from across the counter. “Ha, Ha,” Janus glared and went back to work”
Janus’ apartment was a cute two-bedroom space on the fourth floor of the building. The furniture was an interesting combo of vintage and things from the side of the road. The vintage parts came from their parent’s house, their father had died two years after Janus’ had run away and hadn’t thought to write them out of the will.
The three of them had made a date out of customizing the few pieces that Janus wanted to keep. The customization mainly included darkening everything and adding more gothic touches. Virgil had done the fabrics, Remus the painting, and Janus moral support/ director.
The three partners had also painted the kitchen/dining room/living room black with one yellow wall. Janus and Virgil’s room was dark purple instead of black with highlights in the same yellow. Patton’s room was the only one that didn’t look marginally like a cave.
The walls were a cream-yellow that lit up in the morning sunlight. After Janus announced that they were going to have a baby Remus had spent three hours painting the grey ceiling with white fluffy clouds. It was one of his favorite projects.
Patton of course had no regard for the work put into the entirety of his home and was the usual menace of a toddler. And today a toddler with cheerios, truly a sight even god would tremble before.
Remus plopped down next to Patton who was pushing cheerios around his highchair tray with an intense focus. He smiled at the little boy and flicked on the tv, “got any requests pip-squeak?” Remus asked. Patton looked thoughtful, “dead lady!!” he cried excitedly hitting the tray with his fists, cheerios flew everywhere. Remus nodded, understanding, “Corpse bride coming up!” he picked a few cheerios from the couch “you really are Verge’s kid”
When Janus got home Patton was curled up on Remus’s chest. Both slept soundly despite the dead folk on the screen in front of them singing about the wedding.
Janus smiled, their family was fucking adorable. They slipped off their shoes and snuggled up into Remus who hummed happily and pulled Janus into the hug still asleep.
----------------------------------------
Three hours later Virgil trudged up the four flights of stairs huffing indignantly with each step. Of course, he could take the elevator… but it might break down and he would be stuck for hours. Or someone could get into the elevator with him and he would have to interact with a stranger. So stairs it was.
He rummaged around his baggy hoodie, running his fingers through his dark purple hair in annoyance when he couldn’t find the key. Once he found it Virgil carefully (as he did everything) opened the apartment door. His combat books clunked satisfyingly against the hardwood floors as he entered his house. Virgil felt the tension leave his muscles, he was home. He glanced across the room, looking for his family.
Virgil’s face lit up like a god damned Christmas tree.
Across the room, both his partners and his son were curled up sleeping happily. Drool covered Remus’ face and Janus was snoring, they were the most precious thing Virgil had seen all freakin day.
The three of them woke as Virgil wrapped his arms around them, Patton squealed in excitement. “Hello, darling” Janus mumbled sleepily into Virgil’s arm. Remus just groaned and nestled into the hug. The toddler wriggled between his dads squealing profusely. “Shhh, s’ sleepy time” Remus mumbled, rolling deeper into the cuddle pile and shutting Patton up.
Virgil smiled and pressed a kiss to his partner’s cheek. “Mmm, love you” they purred. “Love you too Jan,” Virgil said, nestling his face in their neck. Virgil knew he would have to start dinner soon but that could wait, for now, cuddles.

juke + fairy lights
again, this was supposed to be shorter but like..you know. hope you enjoy tho 🥺
——
He knew she was miserable.
She had caught a cold a few days ago, and she was going through it. Her nose was clogged up, her throat so sore she barely had a voice, and whenever Luke watched her try to get up and out of bed, she would lose her balance, nearly toppling over. Thankfully he had been there every single time to catch her, steadying her before leading her back into bed.
But now, sitting on the beanbag in her bedroom watching her as she scowled up at her ceiling, he knew he had to do something. Anything. He didn’t like seeing her like this, understanding all too well what she was going through - he remembered how awful it felt being stuck indoors doing absolutely nothing for days on end while watching everyone around you go about their day. She was a kindred spirit - he knew exactly how she felt.
Luke sneaked a look at Julie again only to find her staring out her window, a slight frown taking over her features.
Over the last few weeks, before Julie had gotten sick and had gotten stuck indoors, they had started spending their nights lying down side by side on the roof terrace outside her window, watching the stars twinkling away against the dark inky expanse of the night sky. Luke had seen the way Julie watched the sky, a look of wonder in her eyes followed by a smile that transformed up her face, conveying the unadulterated happiness she felt surrounded by the miracle of nature.
But now she was stuck inside, hidden from the lights that brought her so much joy.
Turning his head towards the window, Luke peered up at the night sky littered with stars stretching out as far as the eyes could see. For a fleeting second he had thought of suggesting they sit by her window on the floor and watch the shimmering spectacle from there, but had thought better of it. He knew it wouldn’t be the same, and he definitely didn’t want to move her from her bed or risk make her more tired than she already was.
He racked his brain trying to think up of an alternative, of a way to make her day a little brighter, when he suddenly remembered a picture Julie had shown him of her and Flynn posing in Flynn’s bedroom a while ago. He remembered being completely focused on the Julie in the picture at the time in her cropped Double Trouble t-shirt, but now that he thought back to it, he vaguely remembered seeing a string of lights twinkling away behind the girls in the background.
Hm, maybe...
With a tentative idea forming in his mind, Luke shot up from his seat, bouncing over to where Julie was lying on her bed. He kneeled down beside her, coming face to face with a sorrowful looking Julie.
“Hey,” he whispered, his fingers grazing her cheeks.
“Hi,” she mouthed back, her voice still absent after days of coughing and a sore throat.
“I’m going to go check on something with the guys, but I’ll be right back, okay?”
He watched as the corner of her lips tugged down, a slight pout forming.
She nodded at him, even though he could tell she wasn’t happy about him leaving her.
“I swear I won’t be long, just need to do something real quick.”
She nodded again, her bottom lip jutting out a little more. He chuckled, dropping a kiss to her forehead before getting up and poofing out of her room. He knew if he had spent a second longer looking at her pout, he would have caved and stayed put.
But no - the idea in his head was now fully formed and he wanted to do this for her. He was getting excited just thinking about the small chance that he might be able to make her feel a little better. He had to at least try.
He poofed into Carlos’ room, happy to find the littlest Molina playing on his iPad - communicating with him this time ‘round would be easy.
He moved in closer, clicking the lock screen button 3 times, just as Reggie had instructed him to. As soon as the third click sounded, Carlos’ head whipped up in his direction.
“Reggie?” Carlos quickly swiped out of the game he was playing, and switched to the program Luke knew how to use.
Holding out his iPad in Luke’s general direction, Luke grabbed the fake fancy pen attached to Carlos’ iPad he was told to use, and started typing out his message.
Watching the screen as letters and words started to appear, Carlos corrected himself.
“Ah, hey boy band.”
It usually got on Luke’s nerves when Julie’s little brother still insisted on calling him that, but right now he had more important things to focus on.
He finished typing out his request, and waited. Not a minute later, Carlos reached for his phone and started dialling the number Luke needed.
“Hey Flynn...no everything’s fine. What? How could you say that...I always call just to say hi...no.... Okay fine yeah, boy band needs something. No, not Alex. He’s drumstick. Yeah. Hers.”
Hers?
“Yeah, she’s still pretty sick, I think. Hasn’t really left her room for a few days, but neither has he, according to Reggie.”
Luke could hear Flynn’s eye roll all the way from the other side of the line.
“Yup, pretty much. Uh yeah so he- uh, I think he’s asking if he can borrow your star lights? I don’t know he just said uh-” Carlos referred back to his iPad, rereading Luke’s request. “Yeah, that’s what he said. I don’t know Flynn. Fairy-” Carlos turned his head back towards Luke, and asked “Do you mean fairy lights?”
Luke wasn’t entirely sure what they were called, but he figured they were on the right path.
He typed out his quick reply onto the screen, and watched as Carlos relayed his message to Flynn.
“Okay, yup. Cool, I’ll let him know. Okay okay, yes. Ok bye Flynn!” Carlos quickly hung up even though Luke was pretty sure he could still hear Flynn talking on the phone.
“So boy band, Flynn said the lights will be ready in like 5 minutes. She’ll leave them on her windowsill. She said to just grab them and leave, but she’ll want them back once Julie’s feeling better. She’s assuming they’re for Julie so..”
Carlos shrugged, and went back to his game, losing any and all interest in the ghost still standing in his room.
Luke reached out and quickly ruffled Carlos’ hair, poofing out just in time to hear an indignant yelp escape Carlos as he attempted to swipe at the space Luke had just vacated.
He reappeared outside Flynn’s house, taking his time walking around the perimeter of her house, keeping an eye on each first floor window he saw, unsure of which one led to Flynn’s bedroom. On his third walk around the house, he spotted a bundle of cables with stars attached to them sitting on the outside ledge of one of the windows on the North facing side of the house.
Luke poofed up, balancing precariously on the much smaller rooftop terrace as he grabbed the lights, waving them in the air once he noticed Flynn watching from the other side of window pane.
“You better take good care of her, lover boy,” she said, pointing a finger at him. “And don’t break my lights!”
With one final wave of the lights in his hand, Luke poofed out of there, quietly landing back in Julie’s bedroom. He hid the lights behind his back as he checked on her, making sure she wasn’t looking at him.
Once he was assured that she was asleep, Luke started setting up.
He started by hanging the lights around the top of her bed frame, the higher up, the better. He strung them across her ceiling, making sure to hook up the end of the fairy lights onto the hanging rod of her curtains. He then proceeded by wrapping the rest of the lights down the sides of her bed posts, leaving a couple of the soon-to-be blinking lights to pool onto the foot of her bed.
Satisfied with his work, Luke switched off every single light in her bedroom, plugged in the fairy lights and settled himself next to her on the bed, leaning against the headboard as he watched her sleep, a peaceful expression on her face.
Now all he had to do was wait.
——
A few hours later, while Luke was working through a difficult bridge in his head, his eyes closed as he rested against the headboard, he felt Julie shifting next to him.
He opened his eyes and found that she had turned to face him, her stare fixed on him.
“Hey sleepyhead,” he whispered, a small smile appearing on his lips.
Julie’s lips twitched, her hand appearing from under the covers to wave at him.
“You feeling a little better?” His fingers reached out, pressing against her forehead to check for any signs of the fever that had finally gone down yesterday.
At her nod, his smile transformed itself into a grin.
“Good, ‘cause I’ve got a little surprise for you.”
He could already feel the ball of worry in his chest getting lighter at the way her eyes lit up at the mention of a surprise.
“Come on, close your eyes. I just need you to sit up a tiny bit, though.” At his words, her eyes slid shut, her arms coming out from under the covers to push herself up into a slight sitting position. Once there was a little bit more space behind her for Luke to fit, he took his spot, slipping in between her and her headboard. He placed his hands on her waist, pulling her back towards him as they both settled themselves into a comfortable position, his legs on either side of her.
Once they were set, she leaned back against his chest, her head nestled in the crook of his neck, her eyes still closed but her smile a little wider.
“You ready?” He whispered in her ear, his hands lightly squeezing her sides once.
She nodded.
“Alright. You can open your eyes, boss.”
At his words, Julie’s eyes fluttered open, immediately followed by a small gasp escaping her as she took in their surroundings. Her hands shot up to cover her mouth before they landed back down into the bed a few seconds later in search of his.
He shifted his hands from her sides, moving them to rest on her stomach. Her hands instantly followed suit as she covered his with her smaller, softer ones, her fingers gripping onto his.
He watched her as she took in the show, the glimmering lights above and all around them reflected in her eyes.
Luke nudged her temple with his nose before placing a kiss on the soft skin under her ear.
“I figured since we couldn’t go outside to watch the stars, I’d bring them to you,” he whispered.
Julie’s hands tightened their grip on his, her eyes not leaving the spectacle in front of her.
As he continued to watch her, her eyes flitting from one dancing light to the other, he noticed a lone tear making its way down her cheek.
“Jules? Jules! Are you okay? Is something wrong?” Why was she crying? Did he do something wrong? Was it because he had moved her? Wha-
But before he could start to fully panic, Julie simply shook her head, before turning to face him.
“It’s perfect,” came her quiet whisper. “Thank you, Luke.”
At her words, Luke let out a breath he hadn’t realised he was holding in. “Of course Julie, anything for you. You know that.”
She stared at him for a few more minutes, the look in her eyes morphing into something that had his stomach erupting into thousands of fluttering butterflies.
“I love you,” she mouthed, her lips tilting up at the corners.
Three simple words. Three simple life changing words.
Luke could do nothing but stare at her, his mouth hanging slightly open, as his brain tried to process what was happening. Sure he had been head over heels for her from the moment he laid eyes on her, the moment he heard her sing. But to have her here in his arms, actually saying these words to him - he felt like he had somehow crossed over, finally making it into Heaven.
In his momentary daze at her proclamation, he had barely noticed Julie shifting again in his embrace, just enough so that she could cup his cheek with her hand.
“Luke?” She whispered questioningly. The sensation of her thumb brushing against his cheekbone jerked him out of his stupor, his hand coming up to press hers closer to his face.
“I love you too.” His voice was low, quiet & soft, but still full of all the conviction he could muster. At his reply, her eyes crinkled up with the force of the smile that was taking over her face.
He loved her. He loved her. He loved her.
He brushed her hand against his face, moving his head just enough so that he could place a kiss on the palm of her hand. The smile on her face didn’t budge as she withdrew her hand, turning her head around so that she was facing the lights in front of them once again.
She settled herself back against his chest as Luke wrapped his arms tighter around her waist, bringing her closer to him, closer to her place in his heart.

Heyo! I heard you were open for requests, so I thought if I can ask for a fluffly prompt of 18? Like Jon kent x batsis? ( I noticed this dude don't get much love at all.) Maybe it has like a tiny (big) crush on batsis, and accidentally ends up following her. But don't rush your self, I know you got alot to do. I'll wait! Ty! (This is alot of reading, sorry.)
Pairing: Jon Kent x Fem!reader
Prompts: Prompt list 18-“Care to explain why you’ve been following me for 6 blocks?” (Apparently “care to explain *inster text here*” is a common prompt theme on my list)
Summary: Jon Kent meets the one and only batsis (that’s you) and being the idiot he is, falls madly in love... naturally.
A/n: Ok so this took a while and i didn’t like where it was going for a while but after some editing i actually really like how this turned out! (Also sorry this took so long life hit me like bitch this past week) And Jon and the reader are about 15 16 ish here which makes damian 19ish. Masterlist
Word count: 1.5k it’s not a super long thing but i’m pretty pleased with that number
Code: y/n=your name
Not So Super Stelthy
Jon Kent floated in a small circle about 4 feet above the ground, trying his best not to fall asleep. He had been watching Damian watch security footage on the batcomputer for 30 minutes and he was bored out of his mind.
“What are you even looking for?” Jon asked, letting himself land and walking over to the computer.
“Proof.” Damian replied, too focused on the tape to give more than a one word answer.
“Right, of course the proof,” Jon nodded his head before pausing awkwardly.
Damian sighed and paused the video. “You have no idea what i’m talking about.”
“Nope.”
“And you’re extremely bored.”
“Yup.” Jon rocked back on his heels, dragging out the Y sound.
“Fine then, you can look around the cave but don’t touch anything. Got it?” Damin said sternly, knowing that if he didn’t give Jon something to do he'd start asking questions nonstop.
“Really! I can go explore by myself!” He exclaimed, instantly more energetic. “I promise i won’t break anything!” He called flying swiftly out of the room before Damian could change his mind.
He walked down a random hallway looking at the various souvenirs on the walls. He heard some grunting and the sound metal against metal coming from a room down the hall. He made his way toward the sound using his super hearing to try and figure out who it was.
“That was so not fair!” An unknown female voice exclaimed.
“Technically that’s not stated in the rules.” a smug voice shot back. Jon recognized it to be Tim’s but he still didn’t know who the other person was. He kept walking towards the sound until he found a large open room with weapons on the walls and mats on the floor.
In the middle of the room he saw two people holding metal bow staffs and walking around each other.
“Well it was implied.” The girl said before charging Tim. She swung at his left but he blocked and twirled the bow staff around to hit her in the side. She stumbled back but quickly regained her balance and came at him again, this time faking a hit to the right before sweeping his legs out from under him so he landed on his back. His staff rolled away and it was very clear that he had lost that fight.
“YES!” The girl cheered “I win and you owe me 20 bucks.” She boasted in a sing-song voice, reaching out her hand to help Tim up.
“Yeah yeah I get it.” Tim grabbed her hand and hoisted himself up sounding annoyed at his defeat. The girl turned around and walked towards the bench where a plastic half empty water bottle sat. That was when Jon saw her face for the first time, that was also when she noticed Jon.
“Oh hey Superboy.” She said, sounding slightly confused as to why the Metropolis hero would be in the batcave.
“Jon?” Tim asked, turning towards him. “What are you doing here?” He smiled and walked over to rest his elbow on the girl's shoulder.
“Hi sorry i didn’t mean to bother you I was just uh exploring.” Jon said, semi awkwardly. “Damian’s doing some research on the computer and I guess he didn’t want me distracting him.” He pointed sheepishly towards the room where Damian was still watching security tapes.
The girl laughed and shrugged Tims arm away. “Well definitely don’t take that personally. Damian’s not really one for conversation. I’m y/n by the way.”
He remembered Damian mentioning her here and there but he’d never met her before. “I’m Jon, but you know that already.”
She laughed again which made him smile. “Well Jon it’s nice to meet you.”
“There you are.” Damian rounded the corner. “I have the proof but we need to hurry if we’re going to get there in time.”
“You better get going before Damian pulls a kryptonite katana on you.” y/n joked waving over at the very grumpy looking teenager.
“Yeah,” Jon laughed. “Wait? Does he really have one of those?” his smile was replaced with slight concern for his own safety.
“Superboy. Let’s go.” Damian sounded impatient, although he always sounded like that.
“Sorry i’m coming.” Jon began flying over to him. “Bye y/n!” he called before turning the corner and disappearing.
“Bye Jon.” Y/n leaned on the door frame and watched him fly off, a small smile on her face.
“Umm what was that?” Tim asked a very confused look on his face.
“What was what?” she turned around
“Oh I don't know, maybe the whole ‘oh hi i’m y/n nice to meet you’ thing?”
“Ok I know you don’t talk to people very often but typically when you meet someone new you introduce yourself.”
“Well your starry eyed stare might have been a bit too much.”
“Starry eyed?” she scoffed in response “I was in no way starry eyed.”
“Uh huh sure.” He said in an over-protective-older-brother voice.
“Shut up.” y/n tossed a bow staff to Tim and got into a fighting stance with her own.
༻𖥸༺
After a mission went wrong, Damian demanded Jon train in the cave at least twice a week to make him, in Damians words “Somewhat competent on the field”. That meant Jon would spend more time in the cave and saw more of y/n.
Whenever Jon and y/n got a chance to talk it felt like they’d known each other for their whole lives. They had inside jokes and about 2/3’s of a secrets code memorized. Sometimes they would just sit next to each other, completely comfortable in the silent company. Jon’s heart started to beat faster when she was around and his cheeks would heat up when she smiled at him.
He got distracted whenever she came into the training room which resulted in a very hard kick to the stomach on more than one occasion. One day while Jon was on his way home from the manor, he spotted y/n walking swiftly across a rooftop. He hadn’t seen in the cave that day but Damian said she was at a friends house.
His exact words were “She’s at her friends house studying, now if you’re done being completely in love with my sister can we run the training again?”
Of course Jon responded by saying “I am not in love with her!” but it was clear that Damian didn’t buy that and at this point Jon wasn’t sure he believed it either.
‘What is she doing out?’ he thought while silently ducking behind a nearby billboard. Jon let her get about three rooftops away and used his super senses to keep track of her. She turned left, then left again, then right, then another left, and finally stopped on top of a random building.
Y/n turned to look at the city and let out a sigh. “You know,” she spoke softly with a hint of a smirk in her voice. “For someone with Superpowers you’re shit at staying hidden.”
‘Busted’
“How could you possibly have seen me?” Jon came out from his apparently not so good hiding place and landed a few feet away from her on the roof. “I was in super stealth mode.”
“Well darling Jon i was raised by Batman. Noticing things is kinda, well my thing.” She laughed. “Now, care to explain why you’ve been following me for 6 blocks?”
“W-well i have a perfectly reasonable explanation for that and it is because,” he said slowly trying to come up with a good excuse as to why he’d been following her. The truth was he didn’t know why he’d followed her. Although he had a sneaking suspicion it had to do with his not so small crush.
“It’s because- Hey wait a second you’re not even supposed to be out here.” Jon cut himself off by changing the subject. “Didn’t Batman like, ban you from being a crime fighter?”
“What Batman doesn't know won’t hurt him.” She walked over to him so they were now about 2 feet apart.
“He’s Batman! He knows everything!” Jon exclaimed as if it was obvious.
“Well i’m not going to tell him.” She paused leaning closer to Jon so they were mere inches away from each other. His heart speed up and he felt his cheeks turn pink from how close they were. “Are you going to tell him?”
“N-no?” It sounded more like a question then an answer but it was good enough for y/n.
“Great!” She leaned away again, her smile returning. “Now that i’ve confirmed you won’t be snitching on me, we can go get some food. I am starving and there’s a great taco truck just around the corner that makes the best nachos. That is if you want to?”
“Want to? Yeah i’d love to!” He smiled happily at the idea.
“Perfect, then it’s a date.”

its-chaan Hello there(≧∇≦)/, I noticed you make a dr.stone fanfic. Can I request senku x reader please ❤ I wonder how senku looks if he jealous❤
You were watching Chrome as he tells the story on where he found all of his collection. You were amazed by the rocks and minerals he gathered that the both of you stayed inside the hut for two hours. It is rest day for you because Senku doesn’t like it when you’re over working yourself specially you get sick easily. Senku was making the ship with Kaseki and the others so you can go to America and build cities all over the world. You didn’t noticed how close you were with Chrome until he pointed it out, “Y/n, mind if you move a bit? You’re too close to me I don’t want him to see us like this.” You moved back and you didn’t noticed that there was a basket behind you, Chrome noticed you and pulls your arms towards him. You both fell, Chrome was below you and you are on top of him. You look like you’re sitting on his lap, you both heard the door open and you panicked. “Y/n, are you in here?” you heard Senku’s voice and you and Chrome sat up and he took something behind him and you pretended that you two were just discussing about it. “I found this on the cave where Magma, Senku and I went,” he said and you acted like you were really listening. Senku looked at the both of you not even bothering to say a word and he left the hut. You sighed and looked at Chrome and you blushed about what happened earlier. “Thank you Chrome,” you said and he just nodded. You went outside to find Gen and when you found him you hugged him from the back. “Gennie! Are you busy? Keep me accompany for a while, I’m bored and Senku would be mad if I help,” you said with a pout and Gen laughed. “Of course y/n-chan, let’s go to a tree first it’s hot back here,” he said and you followed him. You didn’t noticed the pair of ruby eyes watching you go with Gen. Senku sighed and continue on working, “It’s fine, I’m the one who said she shouldn’t be clingy when the people are around us.” You had fun watching Gen do some magic tricks and he said he should help already so you went to Ukyo. “Ukyo! What you’re up to?” you asked and he looks at you. “Nothing much y/n-chan, I’m just making some arrows. You’re bored huh?” he said and you pouted. “I didn’t want to bother Senku and he said I shouldn’t be clingy when all of you were around,” you stomped your foot and glared towards the direction of the leek haired male. “You look cute when you’re acting angry. Come on I’ll teach you archery,” he said and you both climbed up on a tree. You and him had a fun time together until dawn. You climbed back down and Ukyo waved you a good bye. You went to the tent where you and Senku sleeps in. You saw him sleeping already. “Senku-kun, you awake?” you asked as you poke his left cheek. He suddenly turned his back at you and you were confused. “Senku-kun, why are you ignoring me?” you asked again and he didn’t even responded. You sighed and lie down behind him and you hugged him without saying any word. He freaking removed your hand from his waist. “Go away y/n, I don’t want to see you for now just go with Gen or Ukyo. Leave me alone I don’t need you. You’re just useless as always,” he said and you were shock. This isn’t like Senku at all, he loves to cuddle with you when it’s bed time and talk with you until you fall asleep. Most importantly he never say this harsh words to you because he know what effects it has to you. “I-I see, I’ll head out for now. Sleep well Senku,” you said and left him inside the tent. You went to the near lake and stare at the moon. You didn’t noticed the tears building up on your eyes and you just noticed it when it poured down. “I didn’t know he’ll say those words again. Did he perhaps had a bad day and he’s not in the mood? Either way I understand it,” you said and laughed bitterly. You hugged your knees and buried your face in between them. You started to cry and remember all of the things your family said to you. Little did you know Gen followed you when you went out of your tent. He saw you crying and he doesn’t know if he should tell Senku about this or just comfort you. He went behind you and pats your head, “What happened to my dear Y/n-chan?” “Oh nothing, I just remembered something Gennie-kun,” you said trying to stop your hiccup. “Really? Mind sharing it to your bestfriend?” he asked once again as he sat besides you and you put your head on his shoulder. “Nothing to worry about Gennie-kun, ok? I’ll be fine,” you said and he just hummed. You started to hum the song you were making for you and Senku’s anniversary. “You really love making songs huh?” he said and you nodded. Inside the tent where you left the leek haired male he was arguing to himself. “Fuck! It has been an hour since she left. Why did I said those words to her? I’m just jealous and.. Oh fuck it I’ll find her,” he said as he left the tent to search for you. He remembered how you love the lake near the camp so he went there. He saw you with Gen and jealousy started to attack him again. He noticed how Gen picked you up and he noticed you are asleep. “Senku-chan, you should watch your mouth next time. I know that you have that kind of attitude but please remove it when you’re with Y/n-chan,” Gen said and he handed Senku your sleeping body. “She cried for the whole hour and asked me if I could let her sleep with me and Chrome. I said that she should just sleep beside you and she went quiet,” Gen said and left you and Senku. Senku looked at you and he can clearly see the tear stains on your plump cheeks. “I’m sorry y/n,” seeing you in the state like that makes him feel hurt. He started walking to your tet and he placed you on your futon and he lied down beside you. He watched your face and he was shocked at what he heard, “S-senku.. Don’t leave me please.. I-I’ll be useful n-next time j-just don’t leave m-me. I l-love you so m-much.. N-no please.” You were crying while sleeping and Senku started to tear up. He shouldn’t said those words because he knows how much it affects you when someone said those to you. “I w-won’t leave you Y/n. I’m sorry baby,” he said while wiping your tears and he kissed your forehead. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Waaaaaahhhhh I’m sorry if you didn’t like it >.< I suck at writing and I don’t know if I’ll make this a fluff or nah. Either way I’m sorry if it is not good and I don’t know how this request thingy works aaahhhhh >///<

Drastic Measures- Part 13
@daminette-december2019-2020
~Trapped~
This is gonna be fun!
Ao3
First < Previous > Next
-----------
“Adrien I can't go down for breakfast,” Marinette hides under the blankets.
“Yes you can,” Adrien gives up tugging on the blankets and jumps on top of her.
“But Damian-” Marinette groans partly at his weight on top of her.
“Has no idea your Ladybug and moreover doesn't know your soulmate is Robin, and it doesn't mean you can’t like him so get up and come to breakfast,”
“Stop being reasonable and helpful,” Marinette pushes him off, getting up herself.
“I’ll try my best, now come on let's go,” Marinette sulks as she follows him downstairs, basically having to be pushed into the dining room.
“Is something wrong Marinette?” Dick asks, by now Marinette has labeled him the only one in the family not in denial that feelings exist.
“She’s just tired,” Adrien says for her when she can’t bring herself to answer, still sulking as she takes a seat, “Say I was looking around, why is there an entire circus set up in the gym?”
“Oh, I used to be an acrobat,” That interesting little revelation is cut short by an all too familiar feeling.
“Really? That's so-”
“Hey, Adrien I just remembered the thing we had to do today,”
“The thing?” Marinette gives him a sharp look and his face lights up with realization, “Oh right! The thing, can’t go forgetting the thing, bye!”
---
“Sooo that was suspicious,” Dick muses as the two practically sprint out of the room.
“Put your masks on, we’re following them,” Bruce orders, they haven’t yet forgotten she’s the daughter of an assassin.
They head down the cave to gear up, following the tracking device on Marinette’s bike. However, when they reach it the bike is unattended and the two aren’t anywhere in sight. They hear a commotion nearby moving to check it out.
“It’s another Akuma attack,” Dick reports Ladybug and Chat Noir already on the scene.
“Oh my god,” Tim gasps, “Marinette's Hawkmoth!”
“Hawkmoths a man,” Red Hood deadpans, they would just ignore it if Tim’s sleep-deprived revelations weren’t right more often than not.
“Fine then she’s Mayura,” Tim waves them off, “Adrien’s hawkmoth,”
“What are you talking about?” Robin snaps, watching the battle below, anyone the Akuma hit’s disappearing.
“They leave and then there's an Akuma attack, they showed up just as Ladybug and Chat Noir did to stop Hawkmoth,” Tim rambles, “It’s all highly suspicious,”
“I’ve looked through the files, neither have been akumatized,” Batman adds, evidence stacking, “And their class was an Akuma hot spot,”
“Oh my god,” Dicks realization mirrors Tim’s, “Marinette's hawkmoth,”
“Again, Marinette would be Mayura,” Tim corrects.
“We need to tell Ladybug about this,” Robin decides dropping down onto the street.
“Hey, Robin here to help? Could you go around their left it’s a blind spot and we need to grab- are you listening?” Ladybug turns to him, simultaneously deflecting a blast lucky charm in one hand.
“Ladybug there's something I need to tell you,” Robin hesitates Marinette truly didn’t seem like the type but Ladybug has been fighting Hawkmoth for years if there's even a slight chance Marinette is Hawkmoth Ladybug has to know.
“If this is about yesterday now’s not really the time,” Ladybug says with a cold fed up tone that honestly takes Damian off guard, “It didn’t mean anything,”
“It’s no- what do you mean didn’t mean anything,” Robin gets sidetracked from his point, dodging a blast getting further from Ladybug.
“Soul mates they aren’t romantic or even involved so it doesn't mean anything,” She dodges another blast, Chat Noir getting thrown around somewhere, “I really need you to go around their left,”
“But they are real,” Damian clings to that fact and stays by her side. “And you are my soul mate,”
“Well yes but-”
“Ladybug!” Chat calls, tangled up in washing lines with the Akuma advancing.
“In a minute!” She shouts, fully turning towards Robin now.
“Ok I’ll just hang out then,” Chat swings gently in the wind.
“Really the only way a soul mate affects you is if they die,” Damian's stomach churns, “And still even when that happens the effects are minimal if there is little connection, so we should probably just leave each other alone,”
Robin is frozen as Ladybug moves too late to save Chat from the blast, when the light is gone he has disappeared.
“What are you- I’m not going to just ignore this!” He snaps, Ladybug comes back glaring at him.
“Well I am, I have worked too long and too hard trying to beat Hawkmoth to risk it all for someone I don’t even know wearing a mask,” Ladybug is glowering at him, glowing red eyes brutally honest and true, “I’ve put everything else in my life aside to defeat Hawkmoth, don't think I have a problem putting you aside too,”
“You can’t just- I know who Hawkmoth is!” Robin shouts as she goes to leave, sure she won't come back to him if she leaves.
“What?!” It’s then the rest of his family come to join them, Nightwing pulling Ladybug out of the way of another blast, “Who?!”
“Marinette Dupain-cheng,”
“WHAT?!”
“Again Marinette would be-” Tim doesn't get to finish as they all get hit by a blast.
Light envelopes them all, there is no pain which is either a good sign or a very bad sign. When Robin opens his eyes they are all standing in a stark white container of sorts. Chat Noir is there giving him a wave as they all regain their bearings.
“Why? Why would you think Marinette is Hawkmoth?” Ladybug asks, Chat Noir bursts out laughing for some reason.
“Actually we think she’s Mayura,” Tim supplies, “Adrien Agreste is Hawkmoth,”
“What?!” Chat Noir stands up, enough room for them all to face each other.
“Marinette isn’t Hawkmoth,” Ladybug pinches the bridge of her nose still holding a lucky charm going to waste.
“She’s- I give up,” Tim throws his hands up turning towards the wall in search of a way to get out.
“How do you know!?” Damian snaps, anger and betrayal still clawing at his insides.
“I just do!” Ladybug yells back volume increasing, Chat Noir tries to get her attention but no one is getting through to either of them.
“You trust her more than me?” Damian isn’t sure why he says it, just that he’s angry enough he doesn't care.
“Uh yeah, substantially more,” Ladybug crosses her arms a smug smile on her face, Robin bristles ready to change that.
“She ran away to Gotham as Hawkmoth arrived, she’s never been akumatized even after her class was specifically targeted! Shes the daughter of an infamous assassin!” Robins practically screaming at this point, everyone giving them as much space as possible, “How can she not be Hawkmoth!”
“She’s just not!” Ladybugs earrings beep, Chat now desperately trying to get her attention.
“If she’s not Hawkmoth that means-” Damian cuts himself off reframing all the evidence, conversations rushing back to him all at once, “Marinette?”
“No,” The earring beeps for the last time, transformation falling to reveal Marinette, “Wow great timing Tikki,”
“I’m sorry,” A little red bug thing lands in Marinette's open hands, the lucky charm is gone now.
“Don't be, more importantly,” Marinette turns to Damian glaring something fierce, “How do you know who I am?”
“You’re… Ladybug?” Robin says quietly still trying to process… everything.
“Does that mean Chat Noir’s Adrien?” Dick interrupts.
Damian's still playing catch up. Marinette's Ladybug and Ladybug is Marinette. Ladybug who protects Gotham. Marinette who left her family to be Ladybug. Ladybug who he had been talking to every night. Marinette who he spent every day with.
“How do you know that!?” Chat Noir, no, Adrien shouts.
“That's strictly-” Ladybug always seemed so strong with the mask Robin figured she was someone amazing outside of it. And he was right. Marinette was kind and smart, gave her all to a pet store branch Damian would have otherwise made someone else's responsibility. She left her family, never telling anyone she was Ladybug. It would have been so hard. And now she had been forced to reveal her identity to them, it wasn't fair she deserved… “ROBIN!”
Damian snapped back to reality, in one hand he had his domino mask and his face was bare. On one side was his father looking furious and the other side was…. Marinettte.
“Damian?” Marinette asks, they stare at each other until Marinette lets out a small giggle, Damian huffs in amusement too.
“Why would you ever-”
“Mr Wayne?” Marinette cuts off Batman's rant, her revelation not really helping things.
“You have compromised everyone’s identity,” Batman growls from his look Damian realizes he really messed up.
“She revealed hers,” He tries to defend, "And many heroes already know,"
“You can’t-”
“How about we save this until after we escape?” Marinette cuts in transforming back to Ladybug, so clearly the same person now just with different eyes and hair, “Adrien?”
Chat Noir uses his cataclysm to escape the container, it breaking their little piece of reality and sending them back in a flash of light. He has to run off before his transformation falls leaving the rest to the tense bat fam to help Ladybug out. It was easy to defeat the Akuma from there. Although they may have been stalling somewhat. No one particularly wanting to face Batman's wrath. Hawkmoth was preferable.

Recovery Ch 2
Second Chapter of my Manifest Fic Jared/Drea Fic
By the end of their first week as partners, Jared and Drea had gotten into an easy routine. Jared, like the lieutenant he is, would arrive at the precinct first. He would drop off a cup of coffee at Drea’s desk and then head over to his own. Drea would arrive a half hour later with some breakfast for the both of them, some days she would make something and other days she would grab something nearby.
Then they both would both be at their desks looking over files until one or the other needed some type of consultation. It was surprisingly easy. The banter was fast and snarky which fit their dynamic. When they were out in the field, Drea didn’t mind letting Jared take the lead. He was an amazing detective and seeing him in action first hand was a treat for her. Things had been pretty standard since Michaela left, thankfully no 828er drama or anything from the Xers. Just your run of the mill robberies, domestics, and crimes of passion.
Jared had been over to Drea’s two more times since that first night. Once to cook for her to prove that he wasn’t a terrible cook after a disagreement over tastes in pizza, long story. The next time was to watch a horror movie that Drea insisted that Jared wouldn’t be able to get through; he didn’t. At least not without turning all the lights on and some cuddles from Mimi.
Jared was surprised by how easy it was to get along with Drea without Michaela around. He had thought it might be awkward without a common denominator, but it was anything but. Drea was charming. As simple as that. She was always smiling, playful, and endlessly curious. Opinionated and stubborn. It made for some hilarious conversations and interesting bets between them. But she was also an incredibly competent detective. He had seen her put her rich upbringing to use, from finding connections to get them into exclusive illegal online auctions, to clearance for an emergency helicopter landing on private property. She could slip from one persona to the next seamlessly, happy-go-lucky rookie to experienced and connected detective. And Jared liked her. Not like that. But he enjoyed her company and was honestly happy to call her his friend.
Drea on the other hand was surprised to learn that Jared really did have a life outside of his Michaela obsession and his romantic escapades. He took hikes on his own and knew all the trails around the greater New York area. He loved cooking and playing cards. He was also as charming as could be. She knew he was handsome, everybody did. When she had started with the precinct she noticed, but he was married back then so she didn’t bat an eye. But having his attention on her, his focus, occasionally made her blush. Not that she liked him like that. She was actually very happy to call him a friend. Jared didn’t seem to mind her invites or challenges and that was all the encouragement she needed.
It was the end of a long Saturday that had them running around in search of a kidnapped child. Thankfully the culprit had a soul and only wanted the car. They dropped the kid off in a park and his parents’ stranger danger training had kicked in and he had run into a school that happened to have after school programs. The relief that had travelled through everyone in search of this child was palpable. By dumb luck a rookie had stumbled upon the stolen vehicle on the way home in Queens. The culprit had been arrested, the parents and child reunited, and all was well.
Jared was in a jovial mood after the day’s successes. He was perched on the corner of Drea’s desk urging her to hurry up with the paperwork for the day so they could grab dinner, “Come on Mikami, you can type faster than that.”
Before Drea could respond her cell phone rang. Recognizing the name she swept it up and shushed Jared, “Hi Mom.”
Jared smirked and decided to have a little fun. He made his way around the desk to stand behind her. Speaking louder than normal he said, “Drea, baby, hurry up, I wanna take you out.”
Drea smacked his arm hard, sending him into a fit of laughter. The few officers still at the precinct just ignored the two’s antics, a familiar sight already. “No Mom, that was nothing. Just my partner messing with me. Yeah, yeah don’t worry about it.”
Jared proceeded to poke her lightly but quickly in the side making her yelp. Before he could run, Drea was up, had tripped him, and had him in a headlock. Jared sputtered, turning red with amusement and embarrassment at his new position.
“Oh nothing Ma, I just stubbed my toe. Yes I will be careful. Don’t listen to him Mom, you know I have coworkers over sometimes. It’s nothing weird.” Drea squeezed a bit tighter when Jared tried to pry her arm away. He finally stopped struggling when he realized how strong she really was. “I know Mom, but do I have to? I told you I could take care of it. Mom, please? Fine, but I’m bringing my partner with me. Ok bye.”
Drea ended the call then proceeded to give Jared a noogie, “Hey watch the hair!”
“You idiot! You’re lucky my mom is hard of hearing or she would have had a heart attack. I’ve already had to convince her that you coming over was nothing. She’s already on my ass about being paired with ‘unseemly men’ all the time.” Drea said finally relinquishing her hold on Jared.
“Unseemly?” Jared said, loosening his tie, “Was the head lock really necessary?”
Drea smacked him again, “Grab your stuff and go home and shower and get into a new suit. I will pick you up in an hour and you are coming with me to this fundraiser my cousin is throwing.”
“Oh no no no, you are not dragging me along to one of your rich people functions,” Jared insisted.
“There will be free gourmet food and I will buy you those new Nike’s when they get released next week.” Drea bargained.
Jared held her gaze for a long moment then finally caved, “Deal.”
“Ok then I will see you in a little over an hour. Bye!” Drea said before hurriedly packing her things and then rushing out the door.
Jared stood in shock, wondering exactly what he got himself into, before he headed out the same way.
He didn’t want to look like a complete fool so he had opted for his higher end deep navy suit and brown shoes and belt. Jared’s shirt was a light yellow and his tie matched with a deep blue and yellow pattern, perfect for spring. He looked at his reflection in the mirror and nodded his head. Not too shabby considering it was last minute. Honestly he probably should have asked Drea what exactly to wear. His phone chimed telling him that Drea was waiting outside for him.
Drea was waiting in her car, waving for him to hop in. Once he was buckled in he finally had a chance to take a look at Drea all dressed up. She was wearing a soft blue lace dress that reached her knees. It had cap sleeves and a rounded neckline. Her hair fell in soft waves and was longer, down to mid-back.
“Are you wearing extensions?” Jared finally breathed out.
“Yea, my mom likes it better when I have longer hair,” Drea replied, focusing on the road.
Jared couldn’t stop himself and reached out to play with an errant curly, “I really like it.”
Drea turned to him, surprised, “Don’t go falling for me now, Vasquez.”
Jared just laughed, “Not falling. Just appreciating that my usually childish partner can actually look like a beautiful grown woman.”
“You clean up pretty great too. We even match a little,” Drea glanced at him with a smile, “ Anyway, I just need you to mingle with me and protect me from my dad’s creepy business partners and hopefully deter my mum from trying to introduce me to any of their sons.”
“And your mom will stop because I’m around?” Jared asked.
“She assumes that I’m dating any man I talk to, no matter what I say otherwise. Bringing you to a function will get rumors going and the damage control will get her off my back. Oh and don’t take any bribes from her or her butlers,” Drea rambled.
“So I’m your date?” Jared said with a smirk.
“Technically, so don’t go flirting with anyone or my mother might have you shipped off somewhere. She might not like me “dating” but she will raise hell if anyone cheats on me,” Drea warned.
Jared couldn’t help but laugh, “This might actually be fun. How much PDA would freak out your hoity toity rich friends?”
“They barely shake hands, let alone hug. But don’t get any ideas,“ Drea managed to glare at Jared who just raised his hands in defeat.
They approached a large venue with a sprawling lawn and a circular valet drop off. Jared was distracted by the sheer size of the place and the extravagant cars that were being valeted off to a hidden parking lot. “Hey, Drea?”
Jared turned to his partner only to see her handing her keys off to a valet boy. It was then that he noticed her demure lace dress was actually backless, showing off her clear skin and an intricate moon phase tattoo down her spinal column. Just like her hair, he felt his fingers twitch, wanting to touch the tattoo. But she turned. “Are you nervous? You don’t have to be. I promise they are mostly nice, just a bit snooty. Just go with the flow, eat the food, and then I can take you home.”
“Your place or mine?” Jared said absentmindedly, the image of her bareback glued to his sight.
Drea just smacked his shoulder and then started walking into the venue. Jared shook his head and then followed her up the stairs and between the columns of marble. He cursed under his breath. Seeing her looking so different from her rather tomboy-esque persona at work was having an odd effect on him. He took a deep breath. She’s just a friend. A good friend. Don’t mess this up.
Jared stood next to Drea at the entrance of a ballroom. There were quite a few people making small talk, sitting at various tables, and drinking champagne. Jared took Drea’s hand and placed it on the crook of his arm. She seemed nervous but she latched onto his arm, turned to him and smiled, then pulled him along.
A few people waved at her, some greeted her as she walked by, but thankfully no one stopped them or asked her about her date. The tables seemed to be assigned and soon Drea stopped in front of a round table that already had a severe looking older asian woman and a softer looking older asian man seated.
“Hi Mom. Hi Dad.” Drea said in greeting. The two elders stood up, hugging their daughter and sneaking glances at Jared, “This is my partner, Lieutenant Jared Vasquez.”
“Nice to meet you.” Jared offered his hand for a shake but the two just nodded their heads.
“I am Eileen Tamaki and this is my husband, Akimitsu Tamaki.” Eileen said, looking at Jared up and down. Akimitsu who had been staring intently finally smiled then reached out a hand to shake Jared’s. Jared didn’t know what was going on but shook his hand and even bowed a little not wanting to be rude, despite the earlier rejection.
“I have seen you on the news Lieutenant. I knew you were familiar, it took me a moment to place you. You have solved many cases in this city of ours, it is my pleasure to meet you. It makes me feel relieved to have you working with my daughter in such a dangerous field,“ Akimitsu praised, his eyes glowing with kindness.
“It’s my pleasure, sir. Your daughter is a great detective. I can always rely on her.” Jared replied sincerely.
“Come and sit, before the others arrive,” Her father gestured to the table. The size and roundness of the table caused Jared and Drea to sit across from her parents so it would be easier to talk. Eileen still had a stoniness to her visage while Akimitsu was already making small talk.
“Drea didn’t you have anything else to wear?” Eileen finally chimed in hushed tones.
“Eileen, leave her alone. She’s a grown woman, she can wear what she wants.” Akimitsu interrupted. “She looks lovely and I’m sure Jared agrees with me.”
“She looks beautiful,” Jared agreed.
Drea blushed at their defense, not noticing the very different looks her parents were sending Jared’s way. Before anything more could be said, two women who looked around Drea’s age came up to the table greeting everyone. The taller redhead was named Katrina, and her blonde friend was named Melody. Drea greeted them warmly as they took seats next to her. Before Jared could be introduced, two younger men joined the table as well. Katrina’s husband, Caleb, and Melody’s fiance, Ivan.
“The youth have arrived my dear, it is time we move to our own table now that we have seen Drea,” Akimitsu said as he stood up, offering his hand to his wife.
“I knew you weren’t assigned to sit with me, Uncle Rico would have been jealous,” Drea said as she waved to her parents. Eileen and Akimitsu said their farewells, nodding to Jared, before making their way across the ballroom.
“So Drea, introduce us,” Katrina giggled, gesturing towards Jared. Drea smiled awkwardly as the rest of the table made noises of agreement.
Jared decided to grant her some mercy and introduced himself, “I’m Jared Vasquez, Drea’s partner. It’s nice to meet you all.”
“Drea! Where have you been hiding him?” Melody asked excitedly, “If I didn’t have Ivan around I would have had to steal Jared away.”
Jared just threw an arm around Drea’s shoulders, “I’m definitely not that easy to steal away.”
Ivan chuckled, “I don’t know, Jared, she managed to pull me away from Major League baseball, she’s incredibly convincing. Still not sure if it was worth it though.”
“Hey!” Melody retorted, flicking water at her fiance, “That’s why you’re gonna marry me!”
“I know, what am I thinking,” Ivan faked a look of regret before smiling, “Don’t go flirting with Drea’s man, Mel, it isn’t me you’ll have to worry about.”
“Yeah Mel, you know how protective Drea is. She would literally fight you if you touch her man, remember, Isaac?” Katrina said.
“Jared’s not my man, he's just my partner. I’m never going to live that down, am I?” Drea said, letting out a short laugh.
“Dumping a glass of wine on Mel’s white Versace gown because she flirted with your man at her birthday party was a bit too dramatic to be forgettable,” Caleb finally joined the conversation, “We all know that Mel’s a flirt, Drea, but you were so far up that guys ass.”
“Don’t remind me. Sorry, about that again Mel. Really.” Drea said looking embarrassed.
“It’s old news Drea, no worries. You ended up getting the short end of the stick on that one,” Mel said looking sympathetic.
“Hey, hey, no walking down ‘bad memory lane.’ Drea is safe and sound with a hottie on her arm, and looking sexy as ever. Don’t think I didn’t notice the open back on that dress,” Katrina interrupted, expertly changing the subject.
Jared found himself lost in thought as they started talking about outfits and some fashion show. He was curious about Isaac. Who was he and why was he such a sore spot? He was so lost in thought he didn’t realize that he was absentmindedly playing with Drea’s hair.
Melody leaned in to whisper into Drea’s ear,”He’s cute Drea, and he seems to really like you.”
“It’s not like that, he’s just my partner at work, I brought him so Mom wouldn’t try to introduce me to anyone tonight,” Drea whispered back.
“I don’t know, Drea, he seems very affectionate. Act or not, he’s comfortable around you, and you are with him. Maybe it’s a game right now but keep an open mind. I think he would be good for you,” Melody said with a smile.
Two more men joined the table. A slightly older man who greeted Drea warmly. Apparently her cousin Julian, the one putting on the fundraiser. The last was a tall handsome Korean man named Kevin who seemed to immediately dislike Jared and his proximity to Drea. Jared made a point to lean closer to Drea, feeling oddly protective seeing the way the man eyed her hungrily.
“Julian, Kevin, this is my partner, Jared Vasquez, he’s helping me deter mom from throwing me to the wolves,” Drea said.
“He’s definitely an upgrade from the last man you introduced us to, Drea,” Julian joked before reaching out to shake Jared’s hand, “Nice to meet you, man. Be careful with the elder Mikami. She’s been trying to get Drea married off for years. Every event I throw inadvertently gets turned into a speed dating event for Drea. I’m happy she found a friend willing to put up with it to spare her some embarrassment.”
“My pleasure, Drea’s a great partner,” Jared said, throwing a fond smile her way.
“Nice to meet you,” Kevin said stiffly as he shook Jared’s hand. He then turned to Drea, “If you needed a date you could have asked me Drea.”
“Oh stop it Kevin, you’re one of the ones that Mrs. Mikami would force Drea to marry. You know Drea, she wants a ‘normal guy’,” Katrina said bluntly.
“Guys, just stop. I’m not getting married anytime soon to anyone,” Drea said with a hint of frustration, “Can we talk about Mel and Ivan finally getting engaged after 7 years.”
Julian and Kevin took the last two seats at the table across from Jared and Drea. The group started talking jovially about Melody and Ivan’s upcoming nuptials. The dinner was served and it was one of the most delicious meals that he had had in a while. It was nice seeing Drea loosen up and talk with friends he had known since she was a child.
Eventually, Julian left the table to host the event. It was pretty standard, the tickets and donations from all these rich people would go to some charity for underprivileged kids in the city. It devolved from there into a party with a band playing instrumental music. Things were going incredibly smooth until Jared decided to go to the restroom.
The two couples had gone off to the dancefloor, Julian was off mingling, and that left Kevin and Drea. Kevin immediately took a seat next to Drea, taking her hand and leaning in close so she could hear him speak.
“Drea, you look so beautiful tonight. When will you give me a chance?” Kevin asked, gripping her hand tightly.
“Kevin, stop joking around,” Drea shrugged him off, removing her hand from his grasp to reach for her wine glass.
Kevin grabbed her hand again and leaned in so that his lips were brushing her ear with each word, “Drea, I’m not joking. You told me to wait. After everything with Isaac you needed time to heal. So I gave you that time. It’s been five years, Drea. I’m the CEO of my family’s company. Your father and I are business partners. Your mother has given her blessing. I expected to come here and finally confess again now that you’ve let off some steam with this rebellion. But it’s time to leave that job and your partner behind and come back and run our families’ businesses together.”
“Kevin, let me go. I know what I said before. I did my healing and I won’t settle for anything less than I want and deserve. And I don’t want you. I’m sorry.” Drea whispered back urgently, pushing Kevin back into his seat.
“You’re such a stupid bitch you know that. After everything we’ve been through. After you chose that psycho over me. And who did you go running to when he turned on you? You think you’re too good for me Drea? You’re nothing but a used up druggies bitch who doesn’t know when to shut up and just take her best option. Or do you only let psycho meth heads fuck you? Does your new partner know what kind of whore you are?” Kevin seethed, getting in her face. His voice grew louder with each sentence. The music and chatter was still louder than him, but those nearby had started to notice that something was wrong.
Drea was close to tears, standing from her seat she addressed him, “How could you say that?”
“How could you reject me? I’m more than you deserve but I would still love you Drea. Even knowing your history. Not many men would. Especially men of my caliber. You think your little lieutenant will still like you when he finds out what they did to you? You aren’t worth anything Drea. But I’m worth so much that I can make up for it. Just stop being such a pig headed bitch and make a good choice for once!” Kevin urged her. Grabbing her by her shoulders and shaking her.
Suddenly, Drea was pulled from his grasp and Jared was in front of her, throwing a punch so hard that Kevin landed hard on the floor, knocked out. Eyes started turning towards them, someone gasped, someone screamed. Then people were rushing towards them. Jared turned to her to say something, but she couldn’t hear anything. Blood was rushing in her ears, tears were streaming down her face and all she could do was run. So she did.
She ran between the tables, pushed her way through the crowd and escaped through side doors that lead to a courtyard. The spring night air was cold on her skin, her breaths coming in sharp inhales that nearly made her cough. Drea couldn’t see the beautiful garden or the perfectly carved pillars through her tears. The heaving sobs that wracked her body came hard and fast. She reached out for something, anything to cling to while she spiralled into the feeling. Like she was dying. So overwhelmingly alive with pain and cold air and heartache, but at the same time she was dying from it.
Drea’s hand found the cold rock of a pillar and she gripped fruitlessly at the smooth surface. Her knees gave way and she fell. Curling up against the pillar, her hands gripping the cloth at her chest, trying to find her own heart because she didn’t think it could still be there.
Drea was so overwhelmed that she hadn’t noticed that Jared wasn’t far behind her. When he reached for her hands to stop her from tearing her dress she fought back.
“Drea! Drea! It’s me! It’s Jared! I’m not going to hurt you,” Jared pleaded as she scratched and flailed. He managed to grab both her wrists and then held them both down with one hand while the other gently but firmly cupped her cheek, “Drea, look at me. Look at me. You’re ok. You’re safe. It’s just me. It’s Jared.”
Drea met his eyes and familiarity slowly sank in. When she finally spoke her voice was soft and broken from crying, “Jay?”
Jared just opened his arms and Drea threw herself into them, weeping. His mind was moving a mile a minute. He was angry at Kevin for what he said, even though he didn’t understand half of it. He was angry at himself for leaving Drea alone when he was supposed to protect her. But most of all he was worried. Drea never shortened his name. She said she felt like she was stepping into Michaela territory if she did. Instead she made up all kinds of silly names for him instead.
Her wracking sobs soon faded and her breathing slowed. Jared now had his back to the pillar, his arms around Drea, with her in his lap. She had her head curled into the crook of his neck. Jared didn’t say anything as he held her in his arms, gently running his hand up and down the outside of her bicep. He tried not to think of how good she smelled, and how she was trembling just the slightest bit.
The tell tale click of high heels on stone broke the intimate moment. Drea stiffened in his arms but he only held her tighter and whispered reassuring words.
“Drea? Jared?” Katrina called softly before she rounded the pillar. Once she spotted them she gasped at the sight of her friend and knelt down, “Oh Dre. I’m so sorry. If we had known he would push you again we would have never left you alone. He’s gone now. Your dad had a fit and Julian kicked him out. I can’t believe he would say those things.”
Drea didn’t respond, just turned closer into Jared’s neck. She was telling him she wanted to go. He didn’t know how he knew but he knew. “Katrina, is there any way you can get the valet to bring Drea’s car to the back outside the courtyard gate? I think it’s best that I take Drea home.”
“Jared, it really won’t look good for her to just leave. I mean it will be like she let Kevin win,” Katrina responded without thinking.
Drea flinched, and that made Jared angry, “Look Katrina I know we just met, but right now I think the only one who is putting Drea first is me. So please get Drea’s car brought over. We are leaving and I don’t give a damn what any of you people think because Drea did absolutely nothing wrong.”
Properly chastised Katrina whispered an apology before heading back into the building. Jared sighed pulling Drea closer to his chest to bring him some comfort of his own. He leaned his head against Drea’s, kissing her forehead instinctually, “Drea, I’m gonna take you home ok. I know I’m making decisions for you and you hate that but I’m worried about you. So I’m going to take you home where I know you will be safe, away from all this.”
Drea didn’t respond for a moment then he felt her nod her head and grip him tighter. Her voice came soft and muffled, “Take me home, Jay.”
Jared did just that. He took her home to his house. Something told him she didn’t want to go back to her apartment. She didn’t question the route they took or when they arrived in front of his place and he led her inside. Drea was looking less unstable but that didn’t stop Jared from babying her. He sat her in the living room and brought her a glass of cold water. She sipped at it. He carefully took her shoes off and then gingerly started combing her hair. Drea stayed stuck in her thoughts until she realized he was meticulously taking out her clip in extensions and placing them on the coffee table.
Drea was surprised at the thoughtful and detailed gesture and felt herself start crying again. But the tears were silent and accompanied by a sad smile.
“There we go. Well, Cinderella, it is a lot later than midnight and time for bed. I’ll go find you something to sleep in and wash up myself. Then you can have my bedroom and the bathroom,” Jared stood up to go up stairs but Drea grasped his hand. When he turned she stood up and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Thank you, Jared. Thank you for everything.”
“Drea, you’re my friend. You needed me and I was there. I don’t know what all that was but don’t feel like you have to explain anything to me. I’m just happy you’re feeling better. That Kevin guy is a dick. Forget him and anything he said,” Jared replied. He held her close, rubbing his hand up and down on her back. She finally relinquished her grasp on him and looked up at him.
Her eyes were rimmed red and puffy. But she looked up at him with a soft smile, “You really are a knight in a shining necktie.”
Jared laughed and just made his way upstairs. In the meantime, Drea checked her phone. There were a few missed calls and texts that she ignored. She decided not to tell Jared the details behind the confrontation that night. She wasn’t ready to admit it to him. When Jared came down, he had his arms full. An extra blanket and pillow for himself and a t-shirt and boxers for her. “This is all I have but it should be comfortable enough for tonight. Don’t bother arguing with me about my bed. You’re my guest, and after tonight you need the comfort of a nice bed.”
He handed her the clothing then walked over to the couch, setting up his sleeping area. He was wearing thin grey sweats and a black wife beater. If Drea were in a better mood she would have made a joke about seeing him so undressed. Jared was about to settle in and shut off the light when he realized that Drea was still in the room, staring at him, “What?”
“Nothing,” Drea answered quickly, feeling a blush creep up her cheeks.
“No sharing beds. At least not yet,” Jared quipped, winking at her.
“Shut up!” Drea gasped and ran up the stairs.
Jared just chuckled to himself as he shut off the light and got comfortable. The events of the day passed through his mind. He tried not to think about how good Drea looked in her dress, or how good she probably looked in his shirt and boxers. He tried not to think about how good she smelled, or the jealousy and rage he felt when he saw Kevin touching her and then yelling at her. Holding her for who knows how long in that courtyard, in any other instance, would have made him uncomfortable. But it quelled his rage, and woke something else in him. What it awoke were feelings that were too deep to be merely platonic. But he wouldn’t think about that.
Upstairs Drea had decided to take a shower. She was surprised to find a basic but thorough skincare regimen, decent shampoo and conditioner, and neutral smelling shower gels in his bathroom. Remnants he probably picked up from his last two serious relationships. She silently thanked god that she wasn’t forced to use a 3-in-1 after a day like today.
Soon she was tucked up in bed, her hair wrapped in a towel and clad in the clothes Jared gave her. The bed smelled of him and so did the clothes. A smell she now associated with his strong arms around her as she broke down. Jared went above and beyond with helping her tonight and she felt her heart ache a little. Kevin’s words were still ringing in her ears. What would Jared think once she told him the truth of what had happened to her?
Her phone chimed from the bedside table. Jared had texted her.
*You’re amazing, Drea. Ignore what Kevin said. I will always think you’re amazing and funny and stubborn as hell. Nothing anyone could say would make me feel any different.*
Drea hugged her phone to her chest and let a few tears slip out before her phone chimed again.
*No more crying or you’ll look like a steamed bun in the morning.*
She couldn’t help but laugh a little at that. Jared was here and he liked how she was right now. The past was the past. Finally she snuggled into Jared’s bed and went to sleep.

One thing Henry loved was being a godfather to your nieces and nephews. Ever since they first met him, they grew attached to him. He was a fun person to be around and it really .
-♥-
Your sister and her husband were going out of town and they needed you and Henry to watch their kiddos for them. You and Henry happily agreed to it. Henry made sure he did some cleaning up and made sure he had enough toys for when he came over. You told him they're going to be fine, but he insisted that they needed to be spoiled.
As soon as they arrived, they went straight to Henry. You and your sister watched from the door as they all tried to hug him at one time.
"Wow they really love him. They didn't even say bye to me." You chuckled turning to her. "Yeah, sorry about that." Your sister laughed waving it off. "No worries, you just have fun with them. No surgery foods while I'm gone." She turned to walk back to her car. "Bye."
You waved goodbye to her watching as she got in her car. As soon as she pulled off, you walked back inside to your niece and nephews who were tackling Henry still,in a fit of laughter.
"Alrighty kiddos, let Henry breath a little." They all climbed off of Henry, turning to you. "Auntie y/n can we go and watch Superman?" Natalie your niece asked with a big smile on her face.
"Yes! How about you guys go ahead and start watching it while Henry and I make some popcorn." They nodded and sprinted off to the couch. You laughed turning to Henry. "You okay big guy?" Henry nodded, "yes."
You chuckled under your breath as you walked to the kitchen. You popped a bag of popcorn in the microwave before turning to Henry. "So we have them for the next 24 hours. This is going to be fun." Henry nodded walking up to you, "yeah, maybe we can practice for when we have our own someday." He caged you in between the counters.
"Oh that sounds like a nice idea." Henry was about to kiss you, but the microwave went off telling you the popcorn. Henry pulled away with a groan. You laughed and pulled the bag out of the microwave. You emptied it out into a bowl and handed it to Henry. He brought the bowl over to where the kids were, "here we go."
He planted himself in between Natalie and Matthew, your oldest nephew. You walked into the living room and sat right beside David. You all begin to watch the movie, somewhere in the middle the kids lose complete entrance in the movie. They were now bugging you and Henry to let them camp out in the living room.
"Please uncle Henry, please!" David begged. Henry groaned playfully. "Uh ok, go get the blanket and pillows." They all cheered and went to get blankets from the bedroom. You stood up and laughed at Henry. "You caved way too fast." Henry rolled his eyes at and started moving the coffee table. A few minutes later the kids returned with a handful of blankets. You and Henry helped setting them up for the kids. When you and Henry finished, you all planted yourselves on the blanket.
"Now uncle Henry tell us a story." Natalie demanded. "A story of how you met auntie y/n." Henry turned to you smiling, " how I met y/n, well… I was working on the set of Superman and y/n was there. I remember how beautiful she was. She was very clumsy that day, but still very beautiful." You gasped, but laughed.
" I remember being so nervous walking up to her. But auntie y/n was so nice and warm. I eventually asked y/n on a date and she said yes very excitedly it kinda scared me." All of the kids laughed at that part.
"But I said yes and took her out on a date the next day. And now we're married and I couldn't be happier." Henry winked at you making you look at the ground with a smile.
"Wow that was so beautiful. I can't wait for you to give us cousins." Henry laughed, "yeah I can't wait either." You lifted your head up and looked at him.
"You don't have to wait very long. I'm pregnant." Henry gasped. "Really?" You nodded. "Yes." Henry was about to hug you, but Natalie and David beat him to it. "Oh my goodness." You laughed and hugged them. Matthew walked over to Henry, hugging him for you. "I'm so happy for you uncle Henry." He hugged him back. "Thank you buddy."
After the kids got their hugs in you and Henry walked into the kitchen to hug. You buried your head into his neck, "I can't believe we're going to have a baby." You laughed lifting your head to look at him. "Yeah. This is so exciting." Henry looked at you, a smile set on his face. "It really is." He kissed you deeper and gentler than he has ever. So much love and passion was put into the one kiss and you felt it.

Finding Your Heart - fic
Characters: Bruce Wayne, Damian Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, Dick Grayson, bits of Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown Summary: This wasn’t the way he wanted to find Damian, after everything that happened between them. This wasn’t how he wanted Alfred and Dick to reunite with him either. A/N: Dick was driving the plane. Crane blew up the building on purpose to cover his tracks, and was the one to lock Damian in the lab after he and the nameless henchmen fought. The whole family comes home and basically all live in the cave/Damian’s room as he recovers, and they all have conversations with him about what he was doing, why etc. Damian didn’t kill the guy who stabbed him because he recognized the henchmen was no the problem, Crane was. He’s still a good boy in my book. Glossed over kind of plotholes because I didn’t care enough and it wasn’t the point of this story ok bye. Don’t forget my Pateron and shit!
~~
If Bruce was grateful for anything, it was the fact that no matter what he lost, save for his parents, it always came back.
Jason came back. Dick came back. Tim came back. Stephanie came back.
Alfred, now, came back too.
Damian…he came back. And then he left again.
It was in the back of his mind, as they celebrated Alfred’s return to life, and Dick’s return from amnesia. The fact that their returns were not through darkness, not through aliens, not through a multiverse crashing down around them and changing time.
It was magic. It was a miracle.
But Damian wasn’t here. And Bruce would never ever forget that. Not now, as they shared delivery pizza at the island in the manor’s spacious kitchen. Not in the days after, as things settled back into a semblance of the old normal, with new quirks here and there. Not in the weeks after either, as Alfred returned to being Penny-One, and Dick began to retrain himself to return to the Nightwing title soon.
Just as Bruce would never forget the tears in Dick’s eyes when he explained to him and Alfred what had happened to their youngest. His breakdown, and resolve in the violence. When he explained why.
“It’s not your fault.” Bruce promised, even as Alfred pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, and silently dabbed his eyes. “It’s mine. I…I didn’t see his grief. I didn’t understand how badly he was taking your absences. I didn’t know.”
“But I would have.” Alfred had whispered, closing his eyes.
“We would have.” Dick corrected.
And he’d never forget the despair on grandfather and son alike, when Dick asked if Bruce had any idea where he was, and he had to tell them no.
Damian was a sore subject, to say the least, after that. No one spoke of him, though Bruce found everyone stopping near the case holding his old uniform every so often.
Not a memorial for the dead, this time. But a memorial for the child they failed.
His name was like a bad word, a sour taste, and Bruce never forgot that either.
Most of all, he never forgot it was his fault.
Even now, as he, Tim and Stephanie fought against a gang that he had yet to determine which super villain they associated with, he thought of his son. The one not there, the one he chased away.
How much he could use his help right now. How much he missed him.
God, if Jason knew, he’d be furious. Furious because he didn’t learn the first time around, with him.
The fight was in the streets, and it was becoming a stalemate. Not that he and his partners for the evening would give up. But he was looking for an opening, a moment to retreat, regroup, then reappear with a new attack plan.
But the moment never came, because suddenly one of their enemies shouted.
“Boss said it’s a go! She’s blowin’!”
Before any of them could comprehend the warning, a building down the block – a lab, if Bruce had his bearings right – shuddered in an explosion. Glass from windows spraying into the street, flames pushing out right after. Dust and ash came at them in a typhoon-like wave.
And the gang members in the street laughed.
“You’re fucked.” One nearby cackled. When he came back into view, he had a gasmask on. “You’re so fucked, Batman.”
Bruce punched him in the Adam’s apple, and let him drop to the ground unconscious.
“Something’s in that building.” Bruce said through the comms. “How dangerous?”
“Gotham Labs.” Tim’s voice crackled. Bruce still couldn’t see him in the floating dust. “No major projects that I know of. Or dangerous. Vegan cosmetics was the last big thing I heard about coming from there.”
“And now it’s all up in flames?” Stephanie sighed. “So much for stealing Batman’s credit card on its launch date.”
“Spoiler, please.” Tim snorted.
Before Bruce could scold them, tell them to focus, get them to get these thugs off the street, there was a shriek from the lab, and a shape running from the destroyed building.
“Take care of them.” Bruce ordered. “I’m going up ahead.”
Stephanie and Tim both gave their affirmatives, and jumped back into fighting the henchmen, now with a small element of surprise in the fog. As Bruce ran forward, he saw the shape was a woman in a lab coat.
“Help!” She was screaming. “Someone…anyone! Police! Ambulance! Help!”
“Ma’am.” Bruce called as he approached, careful not to scare her. She turned towards him with tears cascading down her face.
Bruce frowned. She…was clean. No ash, no burns. Her hair wasn’t even out of place. He glanced back towards the building, now smoking.
“Are you alright?”
“What? Oh, me? Yes. I’m fine. We’re all fine.” She sniffed, trying to wipe at her face. “But he’s not. He’s trapped and…and I don’t think there’s any vents in there, and we can’t-”
“He who?”
“I…” The woman paused. “I don’t know. He didn’t give a name. He just…he just appeared! Out of nowhere! Got us all out of the lab, shoved us in the bunker, told us to stay there until help arrived. Then…then the explosion happened, and when we came out to check, he was still in the lab, but…but Batman…”
“What? What’s wrong?”
“He was bleeding when we saw him.” The woman’s tears suddenly flowed harder. “But the canisters were all broken, we could see them.”
“What was in the canisters?”
“I…I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” The woman cried. “He…he was paying for our other research, and…and he was blackmailing us. We didn’t have a choice.”
Bruce’s stomach dropped.
“Who paid you?” He demanded. “What was in the canisters?”
“Fear gas.” The woman whispered. “Jonathan Crane was forcing us to make it. Mass produce. The…the boy tonight, he saved us, but whatever happened, all the canisters are broken, and the gas is in the lab.”
The woman hid her face.
“And there’s a failsafe on the doors.” She wailed. “That…that fucking shit is dangerous. So if even only one canister malfunctioned, the lab would seal itself shut to contain it.”
“For how long?” Bruce asked. “How long does the lab seal for?”
“I don’t know!” The woman yelled. “Crane installed it! He never told us!” She stopped her foot and pointed from where she came. “But he’s in there, the gas is flooding the place, he’s hurt, I didn’t see him have a respirator, and we can’t get him out!”
Bruce nodded, shoving his own respirator onto his face. “Stay here.”
The woman, surprisingly listened, but shouted information after him. The lab was in the basement, and the remaining scientists were still trying to first reach one of the doors to the lab through the explosion wreckage, and second, try to figure out if they could even open the door.
“Red Robin, when you’re finished, I’ll need you inside.” Bruce called through his communicator as he burst through the doors and looked for a way down. Not hard, when there were various holes in the floor from the explosion. “And both of you, there’s a potential for fear gas in the area. Masks on, now.”
They both returned an affirmative, and Barbara was immediately on the line herself, relaying last known sightings of the Scarecrow.
As Bruce got to the lower levels, he began to follow the voices, the sounds of things being thrown, or pushed. After a few rounded corners, he found the gaggle of scientists, three pushing fallen shelving units and chairs away from a large metal door, and a fourth knelt in front of said door, typing wildly on a keypad.
“It’s…it’s not working!” The typer growled in frustration. “There’s…there’s nothing I can think of! Nothing is working!”
“Then keep thinking!” Another one spat as he threw a table over the heads of the other two assisting him. “That kid is a fucking goner if we don’t get him out of there!”
Unlike the woman outside, Bruce didn’t announce his presence, just silently moved forward. As he reached them, he glanced into one of the windows next to the door, just to see what he was going to be working with. Who he was, hopefully, going to save, and not have to watch die a slow and painful death.
Immediately, his knees went weak.
The lab wasn’t that big. Smaller than an average fast food joint, but bigger than a grocery store public bathroom. Even through the opaque green gas, Bruce could see canisters lining the floor underneath the tables that followed the walls of the room, where microscopes, liquid-filled vials and partially constructed containers sat.
Each canister had a sizable hole in the side, and Bruce could only guess – remote detonation.
But none of that was important, not now, as he tried to stop himself from collapsing to his knees. What was important was the boy in the middle, wearing a black body suit, similar to Nightwing’s, and a black cape with a hood and faded gold trim.
Damian.
“Jesus Christ, no.” He gasped. The scientists nearby jumped, having still not seen him.
Luckily, it was Gotham, and even scientists were disillusioned to the sudden appearance of a vigilante. “We’ve gotta get that kid out of there, Bats. Just one inhale of that crap will make you hallucinate. He’s been in there at least ten minutes, probably more, who knows what the effects could be.”
“Death, probably.” Another one said. The one who spoke slapped her on the arm. “What? I’m being honest! That’s why we don’t have to waste, here!”
Damian hadn’t moved at their ruckus. He was lying on the ground, eyes closed, half curled in on himself, hand clutching his side. There was blood on his fingers, and coming from his nose. Even through the gas, Damian looked dirty. Tired.
Bruce wondered where he’d been sleeping. Was he sleeping? Was he safe?
But then his heart stuttered again, as he noticed something else in the room. In the corner, by a door on the other side of the room. A man. A body.
A body that was, surprisingly, breathing. A body dressed like the gang members outside, that was wearing a respirator that looked suspiciously like one Bruce knew Damian used to carry, when he was Robin.
“…You all need to get out.” Bruce found himself croaking, as his surprise and heartache began to transform into action.
“What? No way. We need to get that kid out!” The one at the keyboard countered. “And…and maybe that other one, I don’t know if he’s even still…”
“I’ll handle it. Now go.” Bruce heard a click on his communicator, other chatter. Alfred it sounded like, to Barbara. Dick, too. He was at the cave with Alfred. The scientists didn’t move. “I said now!”
The four jumped again, and one by one began to slowly move. The last one, the man at the door, stopped on his way. “…You get that kid out, Batman, or so fucking help me.”
Bruce glared down at him. The man shrunk away and ran after his coworkers.
Bruce looked back into the room. The man in the corner was unconscious, he could tell that much. But still.
Bruce put his hand on the window. “…I don’t know what to call you.”
Damian twitched at the noise, and twisted his head to look at Bruce directly. His mask was still green, and it didn’t move as he frowned.
“Oh, great.” Damian sighed, dropping his head. “You.”
“I’m going to get you out, son.” Bruce said. “I promise.”
“Save it.” Damian huffed. But it was quick, and Bruce knew it was because he was trying not to breathe. “I’m not talking to you, Mother.”
Bruce blinked.
The gas. The hallucinations were your fears.
“It’s…it’s me.” Bruce tried instead. “Not your mother.”
Damian turned away, rolled with a groan to lay on his back. “My father doesn’t show up in real life, why would he show up in a fear-induced hallucination?”
Bruce almost smiled at his attitude. He was trying to fight the gas, like it was a sentient being. That was so like him.
God, Bruce missed it.
“I…Rob…” Bruce swallowed. “Da-”
“Do not say another word, Master Bruce.” Alfred scolded on the communicator. His voice was loud. “Focus on getting that door open.”
“I…right.” Bruce shook his head, and crouched, pulling out a code-breaking device from his utility belt.
“Tim will be in to help you in a few minutes.” Dick now, but he sounded distracted. “And we should be only a few minutes behind him.”
Bruce froze. “…What?”
“We’re coming.” Dick said plainly. “We’re coming to get Damian.”
“Wait, no.” Bruce growled. “Nightwing, you’re not recovered yet. A-Alfred, you’re…you are not to be in the field. It’s not safe-”
“And you will have your hands full with the other man in the chamber.” Alfred shot back. “Not to mention, you only have a respirator for yourself. From your cowl footage, it’s clear Damian gave his to that man. You know as soon as you get in there, he will be in the throws of the effects of the gas, and won’t recognize you. He doesn’t recognize you now. He will fight you, or flee, before you can get him any kind of help.”
“And we are not letting that happen.” Dick hissed. “We’re bringing Damian home, Bruce, or so help me-”
“It’s not safe.” Bruce snapped back, hitting buttons on his device. He could hear Damian babbling in the lab now. Talking about how he’s not scared of anything, least of all his father, or his judgment. Which, of course, Bruce knew, meant the complete opposite. He ignored the guilt in his heart, at least for a moment. “You are both to stay in the cave and wait for-”
“Bruce.” Alfred said coldly. “I am coming to get my grandson. Nightwing is coming to get his brother. And there is not a goddamn thing you can do to stop us.”
Bruce heard the distinct sound of a link click off.
“…So…” Stephanie chimed in after a moment. “Red’s on his way in and…I guess I’ll wait out here for Nightwing and, uh, Penny-One to arrive.”
Bruce frowned, squeezed the device in his hand a little too tightly, heard it creak in his grip. He continued to search through codes, the others be damned.
They didn’t know what he would do. Their beliefs were wrong. He wouldn’t worry about the man who clearly stabbed his son. He was unconscious and had a breather. He was fine. Tim could take him, whenever he got there.
No. Bruce would rush in, and he’d take his son into his arms. He’d put pressure on the wound, and hold his boy, no matter how hard Damian fought him, no matter how deep in the gas’s hallucinations he was.
He’d hold his son and this time, he was not letting go. For anything, or anyone.
He heard Tim arrive behind him, and glanced back into the chamber as Tim pulled a wire from his glove to plug into the keypad on the door. Damian was muttering to himself now. But more than that, he was trembling. Sweating. His eyes were wild behind the mask, darting back and forth, or trying to keep them closed, and failing.
He stood, put his hand on the thick glass. He wondered what Damian was seeing, hearing. “Son.” He called, and Damian twitched, curling deeper into himself. “Focus on my voice.”
“No.” Damian shot back.
“Batman, it’s not a good idea.” Tim offered, clicking away on his pad. “You know he’s hearing things. It’s not coming across as you.”
“Doesn’t mean we can’t try.”
“Doesn’t mean it won’t be construed into something else by the time he hears it.” Tim snapped. “You know that.”
“So you want him to lie in there and suffer?” Bruce shot back. He saw Tim tighten his jaw. “The least we can do is try.”
“The least we can do is focus on getting him out of there.” Tim countered. “So save your emotional vomit for later and help me.”
He huffed a frustrated breath, but…Tim was right. Of course Tim was right. So he pushed at the door, testing how tight it was, if the explosion had loosened it at all, and settled back in next to Red Robin to hack into the system.
The code was seven digits, and after they believed they figured out three, Bruce glanced over to make sure Tim had his respirator on. Glanced up at the unsteady building around them, that could theoretically collapse on them all at any moment. After four numbers, he glanced back to Damian. His trembles had manifested constant twitching now. Fingers, ankles, lips.
The gas seemed to be settling a little now, the room a little less green. That didn’t help, of course, since Damian was on the floor, where said gas was settling. But it would make containment easier. Wouldn’t reach the city, or any one who wasn’t in this room.
One less thing standing between he and his boy.
His heart fluttered when they hit the fifth digit. Hope, he could hope, he had hope. Damian had hope.
And when Tim’s device dinged for the sixth a moment later, Nightwing and Penny-One appeared in the doorway.
Dick was in his full Nightwing uniform, the one he hadn’t yet worn since before the amnesia. The one he was wearing when he was shot, Bruce realized, as he noticed the shadow of the large bloodstain on the costume’s neck.
Alfred was in black and dull green tactical gear, a black eye mask and a clear respirator adorning his face. He had a shotgun in hand, but Bruce saw at least one more handgun on his hip.
He forgot sometimes, Alfred used to be in the British army.
“Move.” Alfred demanded. Tim shifted to the side of the door, eyes still on his tablet. Bruce didn’t. “Batman, I won’t ask again.”
“He really won’t.” Nightwing mused as they walked forward. He was just finishing putting on his own rebreather. “Seriously, Bruce. Let us handle this.”
“He is my son.” Bruce countered, but his voice wasn’t right. It wasn’t as authoritative. It was almost whiny.
Almost scared.
“And you ran him off in the first place.” Alfred countered. “So the likelihood that you are the first one he’d want to see is almost zero.”
“Not to mention, there’s an asshole in there who, by the looks of it, stabbed him.” Nightwing added, glancing into the window. “So it’d probably be better if you took care of that guy than one of us because let me tell you, B. We’re already not happy.”
Alfred pumped his shotgun. “Indeed.”
“We’d also like some cover, if you don’t mind.” Dick said brightly. “There’s still been no sign of Crane. And if he or anyone else shows up while we’re trying to wrangle Damian, there could be trouble.” Dick looked over with a dark grin. “And we don’t want any more trouble, you know?”
And he did. Bruce did know. Bruce knew all of that, and on a normal case, he’d have already suggested and done all of it.
But, still. His heart was getting in the way. For once, his heart was overriding his head, and all he found himself saying was, “But he’s my son…”
For the first time that night, Alfred softened a little. He put a hand on Bruce’s shoulder. “So let us help you get your son home safely.”
At that moment, Damian screamed. No words, just a loud sound as he dropped to his back, body bowing as his chest and hips lifted.
Dick swallowed. “Red.”
“I’m working on it!” Tim snapped, angrily punching buttons on his tablet. There was the sound of something falling across the room. “I think if I can just…”
The tablet beeped, and the door sighed as the seal broke.
Dick was at the door instantly, digging his fingers into the seam until the door shifted. Bruce grabbed it too, pulling it until the gap was wide enough for their bodies to slip through.
“Kid!” Dick was calling as he fell into the room first. Damian growled in response. Dick jumped across the room anyway, dropping to his knees. “I’ve got you.”
Tim got into the room next, and he silently went for Damian’s assailant. Then Alfred, who followed Dick. Bruce remained just inside the room.
“Can you hear me?” Dick asked quietly, running his hand over Damian’s hair. “Can you hear me, D?”
“Fuck off.” Damian gasped, pulling away from Dick’s hand and struggling to twist up onto his elbows. His cape twisted around his biceps. “F-fuck off, I don’t have to listen to you.”
“I know.” Dick said smoothly. He glanced at Alfred, who already had gauze out, and was trying to assess Damian’s injuries. “…Do you know who you’re talking to?”
“What, did Satan suddenly forget his own name?” Damian spat, waving his arm like he was swatting at a fly around his head. “We already had this conversation last time I was in Hell, you twat.”
Bruce felt himself twitch at the statement. But he didn’t get any more time to think about it, as Tim was calling, “Any time you feel like it, Batman!”
Bruce shook his head, running over to help Tim with the other man in the lab.
“So yes, I know your name. And I know what you’re going to say.” Damian droned as he slowly shifted to his knees. “I know my parents hate me. I know I’m worthless. I know it’s my fault everyone is dead. Or was there something else you’d like to add?”
“…Oh, my boy.” Alfred whispered, and Damian froze. His eyes went wide as he slowly sat back on his knees. “My boy, it’s alright.”
Damian blinked, and tears appeared in his eyes. Almost robotically, he turned his head towards Alfred. “No.”
Alfred smiled. “Yes, my dear. It’s me. I’m here.”
“No!” Damian wailed. He turned back towards the room, searching. Eventually his eyes landed on something above and behind Dick’s shoulder. “Get him out!”
Dick glanced behind him, just to make sure there was nothing, and even looked over towards Bruce and Tim. They both shrugged.
“Pennyworth does not belong in Hell.” Damian hissed. “You’ve stolen him, haven’t you. You’ve stolen him and you’ve trapped him here, you overgrown piece of shit. No wonder you were kicked out of Heaven, you absolute waste of space!”
Damian tried to lunge, but the slice in his side reacted to the movement, and he recoiled instantly, shoving his hand against it.
“I’ll duel you.” He decided. “I’ll duel you for his soul, and I’ll kill you. Then I’ll rule Hell, and I’ll be sure to get all the souls you’ve stolen out.”
“Damian.” Alfred tried softly. He passed the gauze to Dick. “My dear boy, I’m not in Hell.” He reached out and carefully took Damian’s hand between both of his. Damian’s eyes, impossibly, grew wider, as he turned to look at Alfred once more. “And neither are you.”
“I should be.” Damian breathed. “I should be for what I did to you.”
“You did nothing to me.” Alfred promised. “What happened wasn’t your fault.”
It was mine. Bruce thought, as he rolled the man and pulled his arms together for Tim. It was mine, and I let Damian take the blame.
“I should have done something. I should have figured something else out.” Damian gasped, tears rolling down his face. He jerked, but didn’t take his eyes off Alfred, as Dick pressed the gauze to his side. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
“You have nothing to apologize for, Damian.” Alfred promised, squeezing Damian’s hand. “Absolutely nothing.”
“D, I need you to breathe.” Dick hummed. Damian jumped again, looked towards him. “Or, well, I need you to breathe slower. In and out.”
“I’m sorry.” Damian continued, eyes looking around the space, looking right through Dick. There was an accent in his voice now, and both Dick and Alfred knew too well that his accent only returned when their boy was at his lowest. “Pennyworth, I…I should have sacrificed myself. Bane would have happily killed me instead of you.”
“Don’t talk like that.” Alfred continued to try to soothe. “Damian, just focus on my voice, alright?”
“I should have let him kill me. I should have been there for Grayson.” Damian rambled. “I could have pushed him out of the way. Taken the bullet.” He tried to tug his hand from Alfred’s but the old man wouldn’t let go. “That’s why I’m here. That’s why I belong here. I failed you, and I failed Grayson and I am worthless so of course I belong down here in this god forsaken pl-”
“Hey.” Dick whispered. Balancing holding the pressure against Damian’s wound in one hand, he reached for Damian’s free hand with the other. Damian’s fingers twitched in his grip, and he watched with almost glee as recognition hit Damian’s eyes. “Kiddo, you didn’t fail me.”
Damian’s tears fell faster.
“You have never failed me a day in your life.” Dick smiled. “And look, see? I’m right here. I’m fine.”
“G-Grayson?” Damian murmured hopefully.
“Right here, Damian.” Dick nodded. Damian blinked at him, then looked at Alfred, then back. Then his eyes seemed to roam the room, like he was seeing it for the first time. He even looked over to Bruce, Tim and the man in the corner. “I came home.”
“…I’m sorry.” Damian whispered, looking back towards Dick. “I should have been there.”
Dick kept his grin, and shook his head. “No, you shouldn’t have.” He glanced behind Damian, watched as Alfred let go of his hand to reach into one of his pockets. It reappeared with the extra respirator they had brought, and he silently held the back of Damian’s head as he pressed it to his face. Once again, Damian didn’t seem to notice the action, nor Alfred retaking his hand. “I’m frankly real damn glad you weren’t.”
“It’s my job to protect Batman. My Batman.” Damian continued, frantically trying to blink the tears from his eyes. He turned to Alfred. “It’s my job to protect my family.”
“It’s not.” Alfred smiled too. “Your job as always been to allow us to love you, and to come home safe at the end of the day.”
“Your job is to be a kid.” Dick added. “Right now, your job is to not bleed out on this floor. Think you can do that for me?”
But Damian was shaking his head. Damian was pulling his trembling hands from theirs and hiding his face behind them as he doubled over himself and pressed his head to his knees.
“I’m sorry.” He cried. “I’m so sorry.”
“…I don’t think he believes they’re real.” Tim whispered as he leaned back from the unconscious man.
Bruce shook his head. “He won’t until his system is free of the gas.”
“Or until he stops losing blood.” Tim hummed. “We’ve gotta get him back to the cave.”
“I’m so sorry.” Damian continued across the room. “Please forgive me. Please, please forgive me.”
“…I agree.” Bruce sighed. He watched as Alfred pulled Damian’s hand back into his, and ran the other along the back of his head. As Dick, keeping one hand against the injury, wrapped his arm around Damian’s back and leaned his cheek on his shaking spine. “We need to get him home.”
“Want me to deal with this guy while you go with them?” Tim asked, pushing himself onto his feet.
Bruce watched for a moment longer. Listened as Damian sobbed, as Damian hated himself. Watched as Dick closed his eyes in sorrow, as Alfred wiped away his own tears too.
“No, I’ll…I’ll stay. They have him.” Bruce admitted, despite how tight his heart felt. “The more of us finishing this up, the faster we can all get home and be with him.” Tim nodded and helped Bruce to his feet, then leaned over to haul the man up. “…Nightwing.”
Dick opened his eyes and glanced over. After a moment, he nodded and sat back up. “Alfie.”
Alfred nodded too, reaching into another pocket and pulling out a syringe. Dick gently rolled Damian to his side, which Damian surprisingly allowed, and carefully gathered the boy into his arms.
“P-Please forgive me.” Damian continued, still hiding his eyes behind his one hand. As soon as he was settled, Alfred leaned forward and plunged the needle into his throat.
Like everything else, the fear gas made it so Damian didn’t notice.
They were all silent as the effects took hold. As Damian’s cries slowed, and tapered off into slow, watery breathes. As his hand dropped from his face in unconsciousness.
It was like a funeral procession as they left the remnants of the lab. Dick first, Damian in his arms. Alfred right behind them. Tim and Bruce bringing up the rear with the nameless man between them.
On the street, the GCPD were already swarming, taking the rest of the gang into custody. The plane Alfred and Dick brought sat in the middle of the road not far away.
“Get him home.” Bruce murmured as he passed Dick. “Call with any updates. We should be back soon.”
“Take your time.” Dick hummed. “It’s going to take us a while to get him stable.”
Bruce nodded, and gave Dick’s shoulder a grateful squeeze. He nodded to Alfred, who gave him a grim smile, and then they parted ways. Bruce watched as they loaded into the plane, as it took off down the street.
He exhaled, and let himself smile, just a little.
He’d found him. He’d found his boy.
It was another two or so hours before the rest of them could clamor home, the city saved, the day won. They’d found Crane, and they each took an extra punch or two to him, in honor of Damian.
But when Bruce stepped out of the Batmobile in the cave, the first sound to greet his ears was Damian crying. Still.
He frowned as he moved up the stairs. Had the gas not worn off yet? Why hadn’t they given him an antidote?
But he stopped as the medbay came into view. Damian was hooked up to every machine available, injuries bandaged and Dick was lying next to him on the cot. Damian himself was sat up, and engulfed in the embrace of one Alfred Pennyworth.
“You’re alive.” He was wailing, clinging to Alfred’s torso. To Dick, who was rubbing his back, he cried, “You came back.” Then to both, even as Alfred tried to wipe at the boy’s eyes. “You’re both here.”
“Like we could ever stay away from you, kiddo.” Dick smirked.
But still, among the tears of relief and reunion, was the litany that wasn’t as influenced as the fear gas as they’d hoped.
“I’m sorry.” Damian whispered. Alfred just stroked at his hair. Dick just rolled over and wrapped his arms around his waist, careful of the now bandaged stab wound nearby. “I’m so sorry. For everything that’s happened. For everything I did. Everything I didn’t do.”
It was something they’d have to work on, all of them. And a confrontation was coming, Bruce knew. But that was okay. That was fine. It didn’t matter. There was only one thing that mattered. One thing that Bruce, and everyone, was grateful for.
Damian was home.

Best Friends: Ryujin Scenario + 6th Member of Itzy
I think read something Red Velvet that was similar to this? I cant remember but that’s where I got inspired from. I don’t remember who wrote it so if it’s you and you want inspo credit please message me and tell me. I’ll be happy to do so.
Y/N is the 6th member of ITZY and has no romantic affiliation with Ryujin or any of her members.
You sat on the couch with Lia and Yuna curled up into your sides with Yeji at your feet. You four were watching your favorite drama together while Chaeryoung took a nap. Ryujin walked past you all and simply stated "I'm going out."
You scanned her outfit and saw she was wearing more form fitting clothing rather than her usual loose clothing. Yeji sat up from the floor "where exactly are you going?" Ryujin responded plainly "out." Yeji reminded her "remember to keep your mask on." She nodded and ducked out of the dorm quickly.
When the door closed you hesitated before saying "did she seem a little suspicious to you?" Lia picked her head off your shoulder and said "she was dressed more nice than usual." Yuna chimed in "and she did that thing where when she's hiding something...you know where she only says one or two words." Yeji added in "she has been going out a lot recently, no home body goes out three times a week." You gasped from your spot on the couch "OH MY GOD! She must be seeing someone!!"
“Why are you all so loud?" A sleepy Chaeryoung made her way into the main room where you all now sat facing each other. Yuna said excitedly "We think Ryujin is seeing someone." Chaeryeong rubbed her eyes and said "is that why she's been smiling at her phone every hour?" All four of you looked at each other with huge smiles knowing that your member was probably with someone on a date right now.
"Let's go spy on her?" Yuna jumped up from her spot on the floor followed by Lia. "Woah woah woah! We can't do that." Yeji stood up and stopped the two. She continued "Ryujin-ah would not be happy if we did that." Lia and Yuna looked at each other then said "she'd do the same thing if it was one of us." Yeji looked at you then Chaeryoung to see if they were telling the truth and you both nodded at her.
Yeji caved "Ugh fine but we need good disguises." You all went and dug out your oversized sweatshirts and hoodies from trainee days. Yeji gave out sunglasses and Lia passed out masks. Unfortunately Lia fell short one mask so Yuna had no face covering, but she did find a bucket hat with a large brim that covered her face. But of course Yuna being Yuna she thought she needed more disguise, which is why the maknae is now wearing a thick noticeably fake mustache.
You looked at the youngest and said "youve got to be kidding. You look ridiculous." Yuna responded confidently “I look unidentifiable." You rolled your eyes and Yeji herded everyone out of the dorm. Lia asked "Ok now just to find Ryujin...where would you all go on a date?" Yeji responded "it's fine I have all of your phones GPS tracked and synched to mine."
You all nodded before realizing what she said. "I'm sorry you have WHAT?!" Chaeryeong's change in tone shocking all of you. "You all should thank me, after we lost Yuna and Lia in the airport that one time, our managers wanted to be the ones who GPS tracked you all. But I talked them out of it and they told me I had to do it instead." You all mumbled thank you's before finding Ryujin's location.
The streets weren't that crowded mostly because it was lightly raining. You all kept your heads down so possible fans, sasaengs, or netizens/Dispatch wouldn't see you if there were any.
When you all got to the location it was a cute bakery you knew Ryujin came to a lot since you two were trainees. She's even brought you and the girls here a few times. Yuna reached into her pocket, grabbing a thick pair of binoculars. You and Lia held back your laughter as Yeji smacked her to put them away before your cover was blown.
The five of you ducked into a bush on the side of the building while trying to peek into the front window at the same time. "Is she in there?" Chaeryeong whisper yelled. Yeji responded "yeah she is." There was a moment of silence before Yeji snatched the binoculars out of Yuna's pocket and held them up to her face.
“Oh!....interesting. I mean I always knew but I didn't know know." Yeji mumbled to herself quietly but loud enough so you all could hear her. "I WANNA KNOW WHATS GOING ON!" Yuna whisper yelled before standing up and stomping inside and slipping in a booth undetected. You watched the maknae quickly snatch a menu off the table and hold it over her face.
You whispered to the rest of your members "Ok. Lia and I are gonna go in then you two follow us in ok?" They nodded before Yeji shoved the fat binoculars into her jacket. Lia held your hand out of nervous habit as you two walked in and sat down. You two quickly walked past Ryujin and her friend and sat down at a table in the back of the cafe. You watched Yeji and Chaeryoung sit diagonally across from them, also covering their faces with newspapers and menus.
Lia's back was facing Ryujin and her friend so you were the one who had to do the spying. You two pretended to make conversation while you peeked out from the side of the menu. You were thanking dear lord that Ryujin was so fascinated with the conversation she was having that she didn't notice you two.
You stole glances of the two whispering to Lia what your thoughts were. "What if that really is a friend though? She's never said she...ya know?" Lia questioned. You responded "Lia. Think about it. Ryujin has never shown any feelings like that towards a boy. Ever. She's said herself that she would date you. She's admitted to having a crush on Siyeon, Hyunjin, and Heejin all at the same time. And she drunkenly kissed me, you, and Yeji unnie three months ago. She's definitely not straight." Lia responded “I see your point.”
Right as you peeked from the menu again, your eyes were met with a cold and frightening stare. The girl's eyes narrowed and you immediately looked down and said "we've been caught." Lia stayed back facing Ryujin, too afraid to turn around.
Just as the pink haired girl was going to approach you, a familiar sneeze echoed from the front of the cafe. This was followed by two unison "bless yous" that immediately gave away Yuna, Chaeryeong, and Yeji's cover.
Ryujin now had all of your sitting at a table, your heads hanging in disappointment. "What is wrong with you all?" Yuna kept her head hung low but very audibly said in her best American accent "My name Hussey..." You kicked her under the table and whispered "cut it out cover is blown!"
Ryujin raised her voice at you all. Just as she was about to give a classic mom speech a voice cut her off. "baby be nice...I wish my friends would spy on me like this. It just means they care." All five of you looked up and saw possibly the most beautiful girl you all had ever seen. "Yeah she's right. We did it cause we love you!" Lia pouted knowing it would get Ryujin to cave. "Wait. "I'm sorry did she just call you baby?" Yeji raised an eyebrow.
Ryujin sighed and said "maybe..." You all immediately started talking over each other trying to get a word in, overwhelming the taller girl who's arm was linked with Ryujin's. Before she could answer any questions her phone rang freeing her from the table.
Ryujin whisper yelled at you all for about ten minutes before the girl came back and said "Jinnie...my mom told me i have to go home to take care of my little brothers. I'll text you later ok?" Ryujin smiled, her eye dimples that your members adored showed up instantly.
The girl pulled her in for a hug, all five of you trying your best to not stare at the two. Ryujin held her in her embrace before kissing her lightly, the girl's face turning bright red. "Bye it was nice meeting you all!" She quickly waved and ran out of the door heading back to her dorm.
The second her girlfriend was gone Yeji sternly stayed "spill." Ryujin told you all how she had been seeing this girl for a few months now, seven to be exact. They've been girlfriends for two months now, which you all weren't surprised about because it's no secret Ryujin was gay but she never really talked about it. Yeji unfolded her arms from her chest and said "we wish you didn't hide this from us Ryujin-ah." The pink haired girl responded "I just didn't want you all to treat me differently."
Yeji pouted and said "we'd never treat you differently. Just talk to us next time ok? We're practically sisters, we always have each other's back." Yeji pulls you all into a group hug before you all stand up to head back to the dorm.
Ryujin yanked the thick mustache off of Yuna's upper lip earning a whine from the maknae. "You all are so embarrassing” Ryujin groaned before pointing you all to the door. You were the last one out, hearing her mumble "but you'll always be my best friends."

Ivory is a custom character that me and my friends made. She is a polar bear and Bianca's girlfriend in this. Akari is her cub.
————————————————————
Ivory shielded Akari from the wind, placing a paw on her beanie so it didn't go flying in the harsh blizzard. She huffed quietly, scaling up the side of the hill up to the den. Akari shifted in her mother's arms, yawning quietly. "Mm.." Ivory glanced down at her for a moment before sliding down into the cave, coming to a stop inside the entrance.
Bianca looked up at the sound of boots, "Ivory? Is that you?" She called out. Akari came scampering in through the tunnel, quickly running to the other two Cubs and tackling them playfully. A few moments later, Ivory stepped in, waving at Bianca. "Heya, figured I should stop by." She smiled warmly at her 'friend'. Ivory couldn't really help falling for the other. She was incredibly pretty, confident and sweet. Her heart raced whenever she was near her and her face heated rapidly. She blessed the fact she had thick fur, making it harder to see that she was blushing.
Bianca felt the other bear's forehead. "Woah, are you sick? You're extremely hot." Ivory panicked internally. "N-Nope. I'm not." Bianca shrugged it off. "Alright, if you say so. But tell me if you start feeling ill, ok?" She said softly, concern lacing her voice.
Ivory nodded slightly. "I-I will. Uh.." She looked around the den for a moment, a bit lost on what to do. Bianca chuckled slightly. "Wanna just relax and watch a movie?" She asked. "Oh- Uhm, yeah. Sure." Ivory pushed her glasses up slightly, blushing darkly under her fur. 'Dear lord, I'm so gay.' She thought internally, sighing as the other reached over and pulled the remote over, turning the TV on with a click of a button. Ivory was lost in her thoughts, her face managing to get even hotter.
~About an hour later~
Ivory was slowly starting to doze off, her head falling down to her chest every few moments before she shook herself awake, the process repeating several times before she fell asleep. Bianca giggled quietly, smiling to herself. 'Awe, she actually looks adorable like tha- ..Do I have a crush on her? Oh my god.' She took a deep breath, looking at her for a moment. Slowly but surely, she was blushing. "Heh. Guess I do." She mumbled. Tugging on her sleeve, she pulled the other towards her in a hug, holding her against herself in an embrace.
Bianca sighed quietly, looking down at her. "Damn you for being adorable." She muttered, gently booping her nose. She put her head back against the couch, sighing. "Might as well sleep." Her eyes closed, and she was asleep within a few minutes, cuddled up with Ivory.
A couple of hours later, the Captain, Bianca's brother walked up to the cave, his crew standing behind him. They had a mission, but since they were passing Bianca's cave they were letting their captain check on his sister. He slid down the slope, blinking at the silence. Captain Barnacles walked inside, peeking into the living room before smiling. "Aw." His sister was asleep on the couch with her friend, both of which were cuddled together with a blanket now laid over him. His niece, Ursa walked up to him. "Mommy has a girlfriend. I think." She said.
Captain snorted, smirking. "Pfft. Tell her I said 'Get some.' When she wakes up for me, ok?" Ursa giggled, nodding. "Ok Uncle Barnacles! Bye!" She turned away and ran off back to her room. The Captain left right after, coming back out to his crew. "Shes gay and good for her." He chuckled.
~Later~
Ivory woke up about an hour later, almost wanting to go right back to sleep. She didn't know what she was laying on, but it was warm and comfortable. She opened her eyes and nearly screeched, realizing she was cuddling with Bianca. The other was still asleep, mumbling to herself quietly. Ivory inhaled shakily, gently moving away. Only to squeak as Bianca cracked an eye open, looking at her for a moment before pulling her back over. "Stay." She huffed, half-asleep. Ivory slowly nodded staying in place, her face lit up.
"You look cute like that by the way."

Chapter 10: Dragon Love
Spike’s first stop when he went out of the castle was to the post office, where he goes to meet up with a new friend, Gabby the griffon. Perhaps one of the few overexcitable griffons ever. Their friendship managed to make Rarity a bit jealous of Gabby, but in the end they learned to share their time with Spike.
Spike: Hi Gabby!
Gabby: Oh hi Spike! How’s my favorite little scarred, but still adorable dragon doing?
Spike: Pretty good! I actually came over if you were interested in going with me, my mother, and all our friends friends to Saddle Arabia to see a Royal Ball. There will be plenty of entertainment, food, and friends both new and old to mingle with.
Gabby: Sure thing, Spike! Sounds like a good time!
The steps of hooves are heard from behind the desk. It’s the town mailmare, Derpy Hooves.
Derpy: Both of you going to the ball, too? Awesome!
Spike: Oh hey Derpy! Did you want an invite too?
Derpy: Oh, I actually happened to come across Rainbow Dash before I went into work today! So I’ve already been invited. But I still appreciate it, Spike!
Spike: Very nice! It’ll be great seeing both of you there! I need to head off to find a few more friends I want to invite, but I’ll catch both of you later!
Gabby: Alright, Spike! Seeya!
Spike leaves the post office while waving back to Gabby and Derpy.
Spike: Alright next stop, Thorax’s changeling hive…
Spike gets out his own pack of portal gum to travel to see his friend Thorax. Once just a normal changeling that was discovered in the Crystal Empire by Spike who defected from Chrysalis’ rule and would later help Starlight, Trixie, and Discord defeat Chrysalis. And then showed many others in the Changeling army another way for them to live instead of dependent on invasions to feed on love. The Changelings quickly became a sovereign kingdom of their own.
Spike walks near the hive, Changeling guards recognize him and acknowledge him as a friend of Thorax’s and allow Spik to pass to see him. Eventually he reaches Thorax’s throne.
Spike: Hey there, Thorax!
Thorax: Hello Spike! It’s been a while since we talked just the two of us, what brings you to the hive?
Spike: I just came over to invite you and any of the other changelings here craving some real love, cause in Saddle Arabia there will be a Royal Ball that precedes a Wedding for two of me and Twilight’s friends who live there! Both events are sure to have plenty of love to go around whether it’s friends with friends, family with family, and relationships old and new coming together! And that’s before the actual wedding!
Thorax’s mouth just starts drooling
Thorax: Oh wow… two events full of scrumptious love we can get our fill just by sitting around all the love that will be in the air?! You bet that I’ll go! Is it ok if I bring along some of our hungrier citizens that could use a boost?
Spike: Of course! I definitely wouldn’t want to deprive any of your subjects, if they really want a piece of the love that is sure to be everywhere!
Spike and Thorax go around the hive inviting any changelings that want to come to, as obviously this event is going to have enough love to perhaps fill these changelings for maybe a week or even more. If they decline, they likely know they’ll have their fill for one reason or another anytime close to the time the ball might start, Thorax’s brother Pharyanx among them. Otherwise, they could usually tell who wants to go for if they drooled or flicked their tongues just imagining all the love they could get.
Ocellus: Oh my gosh, I absolutely must go! I have been quite starving as of late…
Spike: Don’t forget Ocellus, your friends from School should be there as well. In fact, I plan to get Smoulder too, when I head on over to the Dragonlands. I think my pony friends will get the rest.
Ocellus: Oh yes, absolutely will be nice to see my friends there too! So much love and friendship to go around! I can’t wait!
In a few short moments, they’ve gone though the whole hive and determined who wanted to go and who didn’t.
Thorax: Thank you for telling us about this, Spike! You will help a lot of our citizens, plus we should have a great time aside from our love feast we’re sure to get!
Spike: No problem, Thorax! It’ll be great to see you there. For now though, I’m heading off to the Dragonlands for my final stop, before settling down for whenever my mom says it’s time.
Thorax: Ok Spike, tell Ember and Smoulder I said hi!
Spike: I will! Bye!
((Story continues after the break))
Spike waves off to Thorax before creating another gum portal, this time to the Dragonlands. He’s still become too accustomed to Equestria, but the Dragonlands is still his species’ home. So Spike always gets to have a dose of his heritage every time he comes over. Spike doesn’t plan on leaving Equestria, even when he’s a super huge adult (And he and Twilight have already discussed how that will go, probably will take a little bit of Genie magic to make it work but that is a very, very, very long time from now, so it’s not exactly a subject that comes up often between the two). But as perhaps the first dragon to grow up in Equestria he’s very much an ambassador to Dragons who may themselves want to move into Equestria, though mainly the smaller ones since if too many big ones come in, there will be problems like when a red dragon sleeping made smoke that was polluting Ponyville, and it took him learning what Fluttershy’s stare could do in order to get him to leave. Not to mention the large size of the big dragons tend to cause a panic in fear-stricken populaces.
Spike flies around the skies of the Dragonlands until he finally catches a glimpse of Smoulder. Which then he swoops down to catch up to.
Spike: Hey Smoulder!
Smoulder: Heeeeeeyyyyyy! Sup’ Spike! Come here to toughen yourself a bit, in the Dragonlands?
Smoulder gives Spike an affectionate punch in the shoulder
Spike: Ouch!
Smoulder: Oops, sorry
Spike: It’s alright, I know that’s your way of saying hi, sometimes. But anyway, I came to invite you somewhere. Your other friends in school will be there as well, I just got done with a visit to the Changeling hive and Ocellus will be going. My pony friends will probably be getting the rest.
Smoulder: Where are all of you going?
Spike: Saddle Arabia, a Royal Ball is being held as well a wedding between two friends of me and my Mom’s who live there.
Smoulder: Hahahaha, no wonder Ocellus is going. She’s going to get the biggest love feast she’s had in a little while!
Spike: Yeah, probably ha. But do you think YOU will go.
Smoulder: Eh, kinda sounds a little too lovey-dovey. But maybe I should go for a chance to hang out with my school friends at least.
Spike: There should be plenty of food as well as entertainment as well. So even if you’re not exactly into any of the love stuff happening, it’s still mainly just a party.
Smoulder: True, I could probably enjoy just going anticipating a big party... So sure, I’ll go!
Spike: Great! Now I only need one more invitee, and I think I’ll see if Ember’s able to go. You have any idea where she is?
Smoulder: I think Lord Ember is meeting with her father, former Lord Torch in their volcano home.
Spike: Huh, I don’t think I’ve ever seen their volcano home. Can you take me there?
Smoulder: Sure! Just follow me!
Smoulder jumps up in the air to start flying, Spike following as well through the air., until they finally get to a humongous volcano that definitely looks like Torch, and probably Ember too once she’s as big as her father many thousands of years from now could fit in. Spike and Smoulder approaching a cave near the bottom of the volcano.
Spike: Is this an active volcano?
Smoulder: You bet it is! But when it erupts, that only means it’s shower time for ol’ Torch
Spike: This place definitely isn’t a place anyone other then Dragons want to approach then, that’s for certain.
Smoulder: I guess if any ponies wanted to try visiting they’d probably need some sort of heat shield spell or wish from your genie mother. Otherwise yeah, this is a pretty dragons-only spot. But only for the safety of non-dragons, we swear.
Spike and Smoulder head into the cave, the cave is actually pretty hot. It’d probably be unbearable for any ponies without some sort of magic heat suppressor around them to just walk in this place, even besides the fact it’s a volcano that could spew out deadly lava and suffocating ash at any moment. But for dragons like Torch, it’s an atmosphere they revel in. Dragons after all treat lava simply like a hot sauna, and the smoke just brings the lovely smell (At least, in a typical dragon’s opinion) of ash and sulfur.
Eventually they get to the center of the volcano where they can see the towering Torch and his daughter Ember. The current and the former Dragon Lords.
Spike: Hey… er… Ember and Torch!
The two look over to see they have visitors in the small dragon that was born and still chooses to live in Equestria, and another who happens to be the representative in the Friendship school.
Ember: Ahhhh! Hello both of you! Spike, this is the first time I’ve seen you go as far to see us at our home! You’ve sure came a long way from Equestria. What’s the occasion?
Spike: I simply went on over to ask if you and Smoulder would like to attend a Royal Ball and wedding between two of my mom and me’s friends. Smoulder already agreed but thought while I’m here I thought I’d extend an invitation. Oh, and Thorax says hi to both you and Smoulder.
Ember: Haha, of course Thorax says hi. If you invited him he was probably drooling for all that love that will be at that event you’re going to. But perhaps for the sake of peaceful diplomacy, I should go. If a Princess like Twilight is going, along with Thorax, I have a feeling others like the Yaks aren’t too far behind.
Spike: I’d ask your father too but er… his size would probably be a problem unless he agrees to being magically shrunk.
Torch: BA HA HA HA HA, it’s ok little Spike. I don’t think I was going to go, anyway. After all, I’m retired now. But I hope you, Lord Ember, and Smoulder have a good time in Saddle Arabia. Show the ponies how dragons can really light up a party!
Spike: Uh, I hope you aren’t telling us to light the palace on fire.
Torch: Nah, I promise it was just the expression.
Spike: *phew* I guess while I’m here, anything going on lately here? Equestria will always be my home, but as a dragon I guess I should still keep up with anything going on here. You’re the current and former Dragon Lord’s. I imagine you two talk about this nation a lot.
Ember: Heh, maybe a little. But this is our home, usually we just jokingly rib at each other between just us as father and daughter. We sometimes talk about our politics, but things are usually stable when you have one leader promised in power for tens of thousands of years and a general populace that generally remains for themselves with their own stash of treasures.
Torch: Yeah, in fact after I’ve retired I’ve simply been just reflecting about my long reign and the many, many, many, many mates I’ve had over my era.
Spike: Wait… did you say many mates?
Ember: Oh shoot, that’s right. Spike grew up in Equestria, he doesn’t exactly know how… “relationships” for lack of a better word work in the Dragonlands
Spike: What are you talking about?
Torch: In the Dragonlands, there is no such thing as marriage. Only several mates over our long, long lives.
Spike goes wide-eyed
Spike: SAY WHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!
Ember: Yeaaaaaah… I imagine that must be surprising to anyone who’s mainly experienced life in Equestria. But if you just think about it, most Ponies’ average lifespan is just over 100 years and their regular definition of love is. once they find somepony they love they’ll spend time with them for the rest of their life, barring something happening resulting in divorce, or an unfortunate early death of half of the couple. However, dragons live so long that even if there was a mate a dragon really loved. It might of been perceivably boring at least in our views, to had been with only one.
Thus, it’s actually pretty normal for both male and female dragons to just move on to a different mate at some point. Sometimes, more then one at one point of time! That’s not even seen as wrong here whether you kept it a secret from your mate(/s) or not. And if for any reason a dragon misses a past mate, absolutely nothing wrong with going to see them again to become mates again, if both consent of course.
Spike just stands there trying to process this information that dragons have a very vastly different outlook on love from the one he was raised to know by ponies.
Ember: We’re just starting to at least have some aspects of Friendship. Is it any surprise that love is a lot different too? We can still love and can get infatuated, such as your crush on that white unicorn. But we never settle down with just one mate throughout our lives. Though forgive me for being grim, but you might actually be kind of thankful that this is normal for dragons. Because even if you get into a relationship with the white unicorn at some point she… won’t exactly be around very long in relative to your long lifetime…
Spike breaking out a bit of his trance of being told how Dragon love works, to look to the side solemnly.
Spike: Yeah, I’m well aware of that… I don’t exactly like talking about it however…
Ember: Well uh… it’s still a little while until then. I don’t mean to get you down, but we’re just teaching you a few things about us that most ponies don’t put in any books about us, since until they actually bring brave enough researchers. Any information they have about us are pretty incomplete or even inaccurate information. It’s possible that pony researchers thought we had lifelong mates if they had noticed a couple once or twice but never actually asked if the couple had ever been married or anything.
I think at the very least Celestia knew enough about us, but since she sort of kept her policy towards the Dragonlands as leaving us alone. Informing Equestria about how we live never came up as a priority.
But thanks to your pony mother who’ll soon be ruling solo in Canterlot, we’re entering a new era of prosperity between Dragons and Ponies and other species. I’m pretty sure soon we’ll have some updated books about us in the coming years that will make this common knowledge there. You were raised by ponies, but you’re still a dragon. So thought it’d be useful information for you to know
Spike: I gotcha, but still. Can’t help but feel wowed, and almost a little scary of how many I might end up meeting over my life when I’m old enough to start mating.
Ember: Hehehe, you’ll still have that scar of yours, eye scars happen to be a very attractive trait in older dragons cause it’s perceived strength. You’re sure to have a lot of female dragons after you in your older years. Maybe even me and Smoulder at some point
Ember jokingly winks, Smoulder being the rebelllious teenage dragon just gives a “blegh”.
Spike: …Aren’t you and Smoulder both a decent bit of years apart from me?
Ember: I’m mostly joking, but in actuality once both dragons in a couple are about hundreds of years old it’s not considered wrong to go with any dragons whether they’re 100 years older or younger. Again, just think of the difference between Pony and Dragon concepts of time passed. Yes, it’d be wrong right now, but that’s mainly because relative to dragon aging you’re still just about a hatchling. But say in about maybe a decade or two when you’ve grown to early teenage size you may just be young enough to still be ok for Smoulder to be with, if she so wished.
Smoulder: You better not be shipping me with him, or else I don’t care if you’re Dragon Lord. I’ll kick you in the shins!
Ember just laughs.
Spike: I guess I understand, but boy this feels like a lot of odd conversations will come across from all this…
Ember: From a pony perspective, yeah. Dragon’s approach to love is really weird, but some day it’ll be normal to you at some point, I assure you.
Torch suddenly looks a little away from the conversation and thinking a little solemnly. Ember noticing that’s kind of odd for him to do so.
Ember: Huh? Father? What’s up?
Torch: Nothing too big, Ember. Just reflecting on the conversation you just had with Spike and on my own history. Even though yes, I’ve had many, many, many, many mates over my long life. I… admit there may have been one dragon that I was with for only a few years, that if the pony concept of Marriage for a lifetime did exist in the dragonlands. I would of certainly tried to propose at the very least… though I doubt she would of ever accepted it…
Ember: Who was this, Father?
Torch: Her name was Jennesis, though I liked to affectionately call her Jenny. She was a beautiful pink dragon with green back spines. And she was absolutely the most beautiful and kind dragon I ever had the pleasure to live with.
Spike: Is she still around?
Torch: I don’t know, this was a few thousand years ago. And also unfortunately, she probably wouldn’t say the same about me. As I admit unfortunately, I wasn’t exactly as good a mate to her as she was to me. Which is why we were only together for a few years.
Ember: Which in relative lifeline comparison between dragon and ponies, is like a pony relationship ending in at most less then a week...
Spike: Oof
Torch: Yeah… I admit it’s one of the few regrets I otherwise have, of what I otherwise feel was a glorious reign as Dragon Lord. I had many mates before and after Jenny, but none have ever quite matched up to her.
Ember: Dang, not even my mother?
Torch: Your mother was a lovely mate as well Ember. But Jenny was just on a whole ‘nother level.
Spike: Well, this has certainly been an interesting conversation. But if it’s ok, I’m going to start heading back to Equestria. I have everyone I wanted to invite now. But I suppose thanks for teaching me a few more things about being a dragon. I’m sure it’ll be useful information to know in the far future.
Ember: You’re welcome Spike! I’ll see you in Saddle Arabia!
Spike: Bye Ember! Bye Smoulder! Bye Torch!
Spike waves off to all three before using another gum portal to get back to Equestria, where he walks back to Twilight’s castle. All that information Ember and Torch gave him still kind of bouncing in his head as some of it was still a lot to take in. But nonetheless he gets set to just relax until Twilight likely gets back from finishing her own list of invitees.
