while i usually avoid making big, grandstanding statements, i am nothing but confident in labeling Bugs Bunny Gets the Boid as the first true masterpiece attached to Bugs Bunny's legacy. even Chuck Jones agreed, calling it one of the first shorts in which the character was feasibly figured out. Beaky Buzzard (AKA Killer, AKA The Snerd Bird) makes his grand debut that would, surprisingly, spur on a lifespan that lasted decades in merchandising and comics--he'd even make it to the '50s as far as cartoon shorts go. beautifully animated, beautifully scored and, most importantly, beautifully funny, Boid chronicles Beaky's reluctant quest to fetch a "leetle rabbeet, or someteeng" for dinner. said leetle rabbeet being one Bugs Bunny does not make this particularly easy, but it certainly makes it more than entertaining for both the viewer and Bugs alike.

Debut: Boid

This is Boid. And what is Boid? I don't know! Not the slightest idea. Nobody in the universe talks about Boid. But I want to talk about Boid. And we will discover... together ✨

So what do we have to work with? Green... round... bulging eye... large foot... all signs point to Frog. But oh, no. Not frog. Not frog at all!

See, here's Boid from the front! Just one eye in the middle, and just one FOOT in the middle, like some kind of wind-up hopping toy. Boid is no creature of this earth! If you ever encounter Boid in real life, you are about to get roped into a zany adventure of galactic proportions!

Let's look at the title screen of Boid's game, for the ZX Spectrum. What information can we glean here? Besides the credits and related information, there is one word that stands out. That word is "Boid". Let's add that to our list of clues!

THINGS WE KNOW ABOUT BOID

Now we're getting somewhere! The title screen imagery shows us Boid about to go up some stairs to a tower, stairs that are surrounded by all manner of freak. Are they friend or foe? That's an easy question. I don't think Boid has any friends in this world, unfortunately!

So, the game itself. What is Boid (game) all about? Is it any good? The answer to both of those questions is "no". It's a platformer for a system that does NOT run platformers well one bit, and it's extremely hard beyond that! This screenshot is hard to make out with the background details that are the same colors as the actual characters, but that is an enemy in that cramped passage between the green and red floors, and the only way to dodge it is to depend on one block that flickers in and out of existence. This is the first screen of the game! I probably failed about eleven times, and was told by Boid to TRY HARDER NEXT TIME a few times. I'm trying, Boid! I'm trying my best! Be nice!!!

Boid would go on to never appear again, and to have no cultural impact. Good.

Oh Shoot- I forgot to introduce the Main Characters for Henchmen For Hire Cave Finders(name still up for change)

Henchmen for Hire (which may get its name changed) follows the story of two kooky best friends who are a bit unusual and feel kind of stuck in their job as henchmen.

Claire B. Ellody is a former magician's assistant that is quite timid and afraid of getting hurt. In a world full of beings with magic powers, she has the power to not actually avoid any attacks or unfortunes that may come upon her. Why is she so afraid of getting hurt then? Well- that's a long... LONG story.

Atka Boid is the travelling companion/ best friend of Claire who is a bit more... outgoing than his partner in crime. He appears to be some sort of ancient being with some seriously incredible powers such as the ability to terraform rocks to his will, even lifting them out of the earth and rearranging them to however he sees fit!!! But mostly he just likes to create stalagmites to STAB at people (don't worry- he won't actually stab you. He actually hates the sight of blood- long story).

These two are best friends that really don't like being Henchmen. But being low on cash with a limited amount of job experience, you kind of have to take what you can get. So follow them on their missions around their cavern filled world, completing jobs for the richest people that live upon it. And as elements of the past slowly creep upon them and prove to our zany duo that one can't undo the past or run from the consequences of their actions.
