By the goddess, were he and Tormod the only people with any sort of good luck around here? If these kids could not manage to roll something useful, then there seemed that there would be no chance at defeating... whatever they were fighting. So far he could only percieve the box.
Was it the box then? No, that couldn't be it. Something had come out of an unseen area to attack the blue haired girl. What was her name again? Marianne, or something like that. And the poor thing felt bad that she wasn't able to do anything when all of this seemed to be completely up to their luck in the moment. One failure was not her fault.
If she made it a habit though...
"You don't have time to wallow in your misery," He speaks to no one in particular, but he hopes his true target with his words is obvious, "There is work here that must be done, and if you spend all of your time sniveling then you are going to lose something far more important than trinkets in an illusion someday. None of you are a burden until you make yourself one."
He wonders if his words are too harsh for such children, but he does not consider the idea for long. If it was what needed to be heard, he would speak without regrets. Just like he always did.
"Lucky participant! o(≧∇≦o) Welcome back!! You are eligable to roll in our generous category! Please submit payment!"
Nasir 10/10 sacrifices Miracle to roll Generous Rates on Firey Emblems: Gatcha Gatcha II [Roll: 3]
Payment, eh? What did he have that was worth giving up just to get a chance at getting something good from this box?
Nasir smacks a hand against the metal container, a threat glimmering in dark blue eyes.
"You take a sliver of my life, give me whatever you have to pop out of there, and then you be nice to these kids; alright?"
"Trans... transaction accepted! ( >﹏<。) Reward being dispersed!"
Nasir 10/10 HP gains Laufey Spurs and Coporate Shadow 30/30 HP loses -1 Res and -1 Def
Nasir stares at the pieces of metal in his hands, suddenly wondering if that had been worth. What were these anyway? Some kind of spurs?
"What the hell am I supposed to do with these?"

The Tellius bracket qualifier! Starts December 29th at 3pm EST
Here's how it's going to work:
There are going to be 14 qualifying polls (ten for the men, four for the women)
Pick your most bangable favorite from each poll
Polls will run for one week (I'd prefer 3 days but alas Tumblr doesn't offer the option yet)
The top 64 male characters and the top 32 female characters will qualify for the men's and women's bracket (there's actually only 32 women total this time so no one is getting cut, the qualifier is more to decide the bracket match-ups)
Polls:
Qualifier 1 (Ike, Oscar, Boyd, Rhys, Shinon, Gatrie, Isaiya, Zaitan, Burton, Wystan, Laverton, Djur)
Qualifier 2 (Soren, Mordecai, Volke, Kieran, Brom, Zihark, Levail, Alder, Duke Seliora, Lombroso, Septimus, Pugo)
Qualifier 3 (Makalov, Muarim, Stefan, Devdan, Reyson, Janaff, Pelleas, Jarod, Ludveck, Valtome, Numida)
Qualifier 4 (Ulki, Tauroneo, Ranulf, Haar, Bastian, Geoffrey, Danomill, Mackoya, Seeker, Norris, Gashilama, Kimaarsi)
Qualifier 5 (Largo, Nasir, Tibarn, Naesala, Giffca, Oliver, Dakova, Emil, Balmer, Kamura, Kotaff, Nedata)
Qualifier 6 (Shiharam, Bryce, Ashnard, Greil, Caineghis, Dheginsea, Izuka, Zawana, Ikanau, Havetti, Maijin)
Qualifier 7 (Sephiran, Lekain, Hetzel, Nealuchi, Muston, Jorge, Kayachey, Homasa, Kasatai, Schaeffer, Tomenami, Rikard)
Qualifier 8 (Daniel, Gareth, Lotz, Zelgius, Rajaion, Renning, Gromell, Hafedd, Heddwyn, Nolan, Aran, Volug)
Qualifier 9 (Rafiel, Danved, Skrimir, Radmin, Zeffren, Yeardley, Maraj, Tashoria, Silvano, Rommit, Istvan, Veyona)
Qualifier 10 (Sothe, Edward, Leonardo, Kurthnaga, Tormod, Yuma, Callum, Kezhda, Roark, Sergei, Goran)
Qualifier 11 (Micaiah, Laura, Ilyana, Meg, Jill, Fiona, Vika, Nailah)
Qualifier 12 (Elincia, Marcia, Leanne, Nephenee, Heather, Lucia, Lethe, Astrid)
Qualifier 13 (Calil, Titania, Mist, Mia, Lyre, Sigrun, Tanith, Ena)
Qualifier 14 (Ashunera, Almedha, Aimee, Anna, Ashera, Catalena, Elena, Petrine)
I am also adding a Google Form to submit characters for an enby bracket so Limstella, Kyza, and Bramimond don't get left out. These can be characters from any game as long as there is canon basis for them being nonbinary.
Extra notes under the cut
Characters who are excluded from voting:
Anyone who obviously both looks and acts like a literal child. Some characters are borderline so discretion may be used*
Generics and palette swaps (e.g. Pain and Agony, and yes I can't believe they named them that either)
Anyone who lacks either a portrait or a unique name
Kyza (they will be included on the Nonbinary bracket)
Special Notes:
I have no idea what to do with Devdan/Danved. They say they aren't the same character, but they kind of are, but they have different names. So are they palette swaps, or are they the same character with a different name and a palette swap? I would usually just exclude them, but they're playable so that feels like it should hold more weight. And then I was like. Screw it we'll just put both on there whatever.
There are some characters who, for spoiler purposes, technically have two different names and/or portraits. For simplicity sake I just picked one portrait/name to use for them.
All characters use their Radiant Dawn appearances (where applicable). Assume the characters are Radiant Dawn age and appearance if they appear there.
*I have played the Tellius games, but I haven't seen absolutely everything. I'm doing my best here. If there's a character on here who you think should be excluded just shoot me an ask or something with your reasoning and we can DQ them if necessary. Please actually send me an ask or DM with actual reasoning, don't just leave a snarky comment with no details and expect me to know what you expect to see.

tagged by @princessniitza to answer several questions and tag five people!! Thank you frond 🥰 Let's go:
1. How did you get into writing fanfiction? A fanart blog! After I finished the HP series I was googling it passionately and in so doing found fanart, followed it to a wordpress art blog, and then upon an offhand comment about fanfiction googled 'harry potter fanfiction'. And the rest is history
2. How many fandoms have you written in? 7 that i've published on ao3! I think 9 if we count stuff I've posted elsewhere, and probably a few more if we count stuff I've written but not published
3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction? My first one was published in mid 2013.... 11 years. Good lord
4. Do you read or write more fanfiction? Oh read, for sure. I keep a spreadsheet for both reading and writing -- I'm nearly at 6million words read thus far this year, vs 80k written. A slight disparity !
5. What is one way you’ve improved as a writer? Loool is it cheating to say in every way?? I think if you compared any of my fics now to those of 11 years ago they would simply not be in the same league. But I'll say my command of language, and my ability to communicate emotions more subtly.
6. What’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project? Polythene growing tunnels, firewood growing and coppicing techniques, for one fic I read (bits of) the muqaddimah and the safarnama of nasir khusraw... I'm sure there are more but I tend not to end up using much from my more unhinged research holes lmao
7. What’s your favorite type of comment to receive on your work? All of them of course, but the ones that dive into specific lines or story elements they liked are a special gift
8. What’s the most fringe trope/topic you write about? I think amnesia and selkies are the 2 I've returned to across multiple fandoms :')
9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write? The long ones with lots of plot and moving plates, alas! I've been wrestling with the main longfic I'm working on for ages and ages, but we forge on
10. What is the easiest type? I don't know if there's anything that binds them, but there is a type of fic that just comes bubbling up from my id and demands to be written, and those tend to come out relatively quickly and smoothly! 'bathed in light' was one such fic, and 'send me a little word' was another
11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When? Scrivener! But it's version 1.9 because the update to v3 made everything look different and frightening. And as for when/where it's usually late night, on my couch or in bed
12. What is something you’ve been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day? My beloved film reviews fic -- though it is less a case of intimidation and more a case of "but if i want to write fictional film reviews of 5 films that get made about the historical figures King Laurent and King Damianos I have to first sort out what the future film industry looks like and how it developed and did they have a Hays Code also? How did their censorship policies change over time? And when did three-strip technicolor get dropped in favour of eastmancolor, and were there any wars or geopolitical conflicts which shaped the production of contemporaneous films, and is there a 1948 New Artes v. Paramount antitrust case that breaks up the distribution channels and affects the way that independent productions are able to come onto the scene, and and and ----" SO basically you can tell I did film studies. And ALSO what DATES would I use for the speculative future of this secondary world fantasy ?? But I do hope that one day I will power thru my brain's panicked worldbuilding questions and write this fic!!
13. What made you choose your username? I was looking through the Hepcats Jive Talk Dictionary for reasons I no longer remember and saw the entry 'spin a wren = dance with a woman' which I thought was so cute that I made it my ao3 name. Wrenaspun is just a silly play on that :')

Portrayal Update
Content with how Kurthnaga is doing for now, Nasir sees fit to leave the walls of the main monastery and venture down into the town below as he believes he does not always have to keep a watchful eye on the boy every second. While scouting out the area, he meets an old merchant looking for someone to take over his shop as he has grown weary and wishes to move to the countryside to live with his children. Nasir obliges, as he already has experience in the field and the old man leaves his shop in Nasir's care. Time to get to work; huh?
He will still be keeping an eye on Kurthnaga, but will be less hovering than he was as a permanent fixture at the monastery.
Narratively wise, he has asked to maintain the office he had before moving down to the town. He is paying rent though, so think of it as simply renting out an office space.
He will still be acting as a teacher, though it's more like he's an outside instructor offering his wisdom rather than a tenured professor. Rest assured his lovely students, class will still be the same time as always. Do not be late.
(Yes he is hiking all the way up to the monastery to teach his classes at their times. What about it?)
(Yes he is hired on contract and gets paid a certain amoutn per class he teaches. Alas, such is the life of a poor, poor (not poor at all) merchant. Yes he also did write the contract himself. No whoever signed it did not get to read it.)
Worry not, threads before the change will still have him as a golden deer teacher. (Duh.)

🍃🕊🍃 Why should the Ahlulbayt or family of the Prophet (S) be followed?
Who is included in the Ahlulbayt? A brief text that delves into these questions with textual proofs.
Why Follow the Family of the Prophet (s)?
Verily Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, O People of the House (Ahlulbayt) and to purify you a thorough purifying.
Verse of Purification from Holy Quran (33:33)
Prophet Muhammad (S) was asked by his Companions:
“How should we invoke blessings for you?”…
He said:
“Say: ‘O Allah! Send Your blessings on Muhammad and the Family of Muhammad, as You sent Your blessings on Abraham and on the Family of Abraham, for You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious.”
Sahih al-Bukhari
(volume 4, book 55, number 589)
The Shi'ah believe that the twin legacy of Prophet Muhammad (S) is the Quran and the Ahlulbayt (specific members of his family). The Ahlulbayt are the source for the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (S). Only by obtaining instruction from both these sources can a Muslim hope to attain true guidance.
🍃 Prophet Muhammad’s (S) Legacy
“I am about to answer the call (of death). Verily, I leave behind two precious things (thaqalayn) amongst you: the Book of Allah and my Ahlulbayt. Verily, the two will never separate until they come back to me by the side of the Pond.”
This authentic hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (S) is narrated by over 30 of his Companions and recorded by a large number of Sunni scholars. Some of the famous sources for this hadith include:
• Al-Hakim al-Naysaburi, al-Mustadrak
ala al-Sahihayn (Beirut),
(volume 3, pages 109-110, 148, and 533).
He expressly states that the tradition is sahih in accordance with the criteria of al-Bukhari and Muslim; al-Dhahabi has confirmed his judgment
• Muslim, al-Sahih, (English translation),
(book 031, numbers 5920-3)
• al-Tirmidhi, al-Sahih,
(vol. 5, pg. 621-2, no 3786 & 3788)
(vol. 2, pg. 219)
• al-Nasa'i, Khasa'is’Ali ibn Abi Talib,
(hadith number 79)
• Ahmad b. Hanbal, al-Musnad,
(vol. 3, pg. 14, 17, 26)
(vol. 3, pg. 26, 59)
(vol. 4, pg. 371)
(vol. 5, pg 181-2, 189-190)
• Ibn al'Athir, Jami` al'usul,
(volume 1, page 277)
• bn Kathir, al-Bidayah wa alnihayah,
(volume 5, page 209)
He quotes al-Dhahabi and declares this hadith to be sahih.
• Ibn Kathir, Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Azim ,
(volume 6, page 199)
• Nasir al-Din al-Albani, Silsilat al-Ahadith
al-Sahiha (Kuwait: al-Dar al-Salafiyya),
(volume 4, pages 355-8)
He lists many chains of narration that he considers reliable.
There are many more sources for this hadith than it is possible to list here.
🍃 Didn't the Prophet (S) say “I leave behind the Book of God and my Sunnah” ?
This is a popular misconception. The fact is that there is no reliable basis for this statement attributed to the Prophet’s (S) Final Sermon. It is completely absent from any of the six Sihah books!!
The version in Malik’s Muwatta’, Ibn Hisham’s Sirat Rasul Allah, and from him in al-Tabari’s Ta’rikh, all suffer from incomplete chains of narration with several links in the chain missing! The other versions that have a full chain of narration (isnad) - of which there are very few - all contain narrators that are unanimously considered to be highly unreliable by leading Sunni scholars of rijal. These remarkable facts can be confirmed by those interested in research by referring to the relevant books.
Clearly, no one is suggesting that the Sunnah of the Prophet (S) should not be followed. As stated before, the Prophet (S) wished for the Muslims to refer to his Ahlulbayt as a reliable, pure and inerrant source for his Sunnah.
🍃 What is so special about the Family of the Prophet (S)?
When the verse
"(O Muhammad) Say, 'I do not ask for any reward for this (bringing of Allah's message) except the love for the near kinship.”
Holy Quran
(42:23)
was revealed, the Muslims asked the Prophet: "Who are these near kin of yours whose love is obligatory upon us?" He replied, "'Ali, Fatima, and their two sons."
• al-Hakim al-Naysaburi, al-Mustadrak
ala al-Sahihayn, (volume 2, page 444)
• al-Qastallani, Irshad al-Sari Sharh Sahih
al-Bukhari, (volume 7, page 331)
• al-Suyuti, al-Durr al-Manthur,
(volume 6, pages 6-7)
• al-Alusi al-Baghdadi, Ruh al-Ma’ani,
(volume 25, pages 31-2)
The position of truthfulness and virtue of the Ahlulbayt was further confirmed by the Quran during the disputation with the Christians of Najran. When the verse was revealed
"But whoever disputes with you in this matter after what has come to you of knowledge, then say: come let us call our sons and your sons and our women and your women and our near people and your near people, then let us be earnest in prayer, and pray for the curse of Allah on the liars."
Holy Quran
(3:61),
the Prophet (S) called ‘Ali, Fatima, al-Hasan and al-Hussain and said: ‘O Allah, these are my Family (Ahli).”
• Muslim, al-Sahih, (English translation),
(book 31, number 5915)
• al-Hakim al-Naysaburi, al-Mustadrak
ala al-Sahihayn, (volume 3, page 150)
He states that it is sahih in accordance with the criteria of al-Bukhari and Muslim
• Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani, Fath al-Bari Sharh
Sahih al-Bukhari, (volume 7, page 60)
• al-Tirmidhi, al-Sahih, kitab al-manaqib,
(volume 5, page 596)
• Ahmad b. Hanbal, al-Musnad,
(volume 1, page 185)
• al-Suyuti, History of Khalifas Who Took
The Right Way, (London, 1995),
(page 176)
🍃 Isn't it enough to show respect towards the Ahlulbayt?
Is it sufficient to just show respect towards the Quran?
Surely the Muslims have no choice but to follow it, as a source of Divine guidance, in all their affairs. The Prophet Muhammad (S) left two things as legacy to the Muslims, and promised that they will never separate from each other until the Day of Judgement. By twinning the Ahlulbayt with the Quran, the Prophet (S) was telling us to not only show respect towards them, but also to take explanations of Islamic doctrine, practices, hadith and tafsir from them.
“Behold! My Ahlulbayt are like the Ark of Noah. Whoever embarked on it was saved, and whoever turned away from it perished”
• al-Hakim al-Naysaburi, al-Mustadrak
ala al-Sahihayn, (volume 3, p. 151) &
(volume 2, page 343)
He states that it is sahih in accordance with the criteria of Muslim
• al-Suyuti, al-Durr al-Manthur,
(volume 1, pages 71-72)
• Ibn Hajar al-Makki, al-Sawa’iq al-Muhriqa,
(page 140)
He states that this tradition has come down through many chains of narration that strengthen each other.
🍃 Who are included in the Ahlulbayt?
It has been shown that the Family of the Prophet (S) – interchangeably referred to as the Ahlulbayt, ‘Itrah and Aal - included his daughter Fatima al-Zahra (sa)’, her husband Imam Ali (as), and their children Imams al-Hasan (as) and al-Hussain (as). The members of this Family of five, with the Prophet Muhammad (S) at its head, were the ones alive at the time the Quranic verses regarding their virtue were being revealed to the Prophet (S). However, nine other Imams from the descendants of Imam al-Hussain (as) are also in this chosen Family, the final one being Imam al-Mahdi (ajtf). The Prophet (S) said:
"I and ‘Ali and al-Hasan and al-Hussain and nine of the descendants of al-Hussain are the purified ones and the inerrant."
(al-Juwayni, Fara'id al-Simtayn,
Beirut, 1978), (page 160). Note that al-
Juwayni’s greatness as a scholar of
hadith has been attested by al-Dhahabi
in Tadhkirat al-Huffaz,
(volume 4, page 298), and also by Ibn
Hajar al-‘Asqalani in
al-Durar al-Kaminah,
(volume 1, page 67)
"I am the chief of the Prophets and Ali ibn Abi Talib is the chief of successors, and after me my successors shall be twelve, the first of them being ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) and the last of them being al-Mahdi."
(al-Juwayni, Fara'id al-Simtayn,
(page 160)
"Al-Mahdi is one of us Ahlulbayt"
and "al-Mahdi will be of my family, of the descendants of Fatima (sa)"
(Ibn Majah, al-Sunan,
(volume 2, page 519, numbers 4085-6),
Abu Dawud, al-Sunan,
(volume 2, page 207)
🍃 What about the Wives of the Holy Prophet (S)?
The verse of purification
"Verily Allah only desires to .….”
was revealed to the Prophet (S) in the house of his wife Umm Salama (sa); the Prophet called al-Hasan, al-Hussain, Fatima (sa) and Ali (as), and he gathered them together and covered them with the mantle. Then he said,
“O Allah, these are my Ahlulbayt, so keep away every impurity from the Ahlulbayt, and purify them with a perfect purification."
Umm Salama said,
“Am I with them, O Apostle of Allah?"
The Prophet (S) said,
“You stay in your place, and you are virtuous."
• al-Tirmidhi, al-Sahih,
(volume 5, pages 351 and 663)
• al-Hakim al-Naysaburi, al-Mustadrak
ala al-Sahihayn, (volume 2, page 416)
He states that it is sahih in accordance with the criteria of al-Bukhari
• al-Suyuti, al-Durr al-Manthur,
(volume 5, page 197)
The beginning of verse (33:33) and subsequent statements are addressed to the wives of the Prophet (S) as is evident from the feminine pronouns used. However, in the verse of purification, the gender changes to the masculine or mixed gender. This also shows that it was an independent revelation addressed to different individuals.

ENA (Here!)
FAITH +1: She tries her best to not get angry ever and stay in a constantly calm state of mind so would be interesting to see her forced to be angry. Also this is definitely not good for her mental health. Teehee. The problems and issues. [TAKEN: N/A]
AUTHORITY +1: Yayyy a fun puzzle for Ena to enjoy. How lovely. How fun !!! She is having fun :| Can't you tell? [TAKEN: N/A]
ANY +1 [TAKEN: Ryoma]
KURTH ( @goldoanheart )
AUTHORITY +1: Oh thank god somewhere Kurth can actually use the braincells rattling around like peas in his skull. I think he's actually pretty good at puzzles and escape rooms and shit, so feel free to take him up as the smart friend [TAKEN: N/A]
ANY +1 (Willing to do up to three times): Oh god. Child Kurth was menace. Absolutely awful child. Horrendous little being. Biter, tries to run away constantly, definitely needs to be put on the child leash. Either a muse who has been left as an adult can try to rein him in or he can be playing with another muse who has been childified. [TAKEN: Dheginsea, N/A, N/A]
NASIR ( @yukyunotabibito )
FAITH +1: Could be interesting as he usually tries to keep his cool, but honestly if you've ever seen him start a real rant, you would know he doesn't actually succeed at that all too well. Preferably this prompt would be with someone he's met here at the academy, but hasn't seen beyond the veils of his persona yet. I just want someone to see him fly into a blind rage and be surprised. Thank you <3 [TAKEN: N/A]
AUTHORITY +1: Too bad Ena isn't here, she's the really smart one in the family. Alas, you will be stuck with Nasir. Who doesn't seem to show any interest in escaping within the time limit? Huh. Perhaps you can convince him? [TAKEN: N/A]
ANY +1: I do like Kanoesa's idea of making them face their childhood selves as adults. Especially since child Nasir isn't jaded yet, there's still hope in that thang. I'd like to take this up with a muse who similarly changed greatly from their child self, and is far from what the kid would expect. (Willing to do up to three times) [TAKEN: Elffin, Kagetsu, N/A]

==Rooh-ul-Ali "رُوحُ العَلی " Soul of Ali == In the eyes of my dear friend Muhammad Ali Raza, this word (Rooh-ul-Ali) is a very important word. When I asked Muhammad Ali Raza why are you using this title? So in reply he said that I am not using this title myself, this word is a word created by my own soul that I would like to keep it as a title, I love this word very much. My friend Muhammad Ali Raza says that! All the social works that I have done in my life or all the efforts and services that I have in the showbiz industry at this time should be included in this album (Rooh-ul-Ali). Today is not the time of DVD or Cassette Recorder but the time of Internet. I want all this to be available on the Internet. Whenever my children remember me, they can easily search for me, see me and listen to me. . That's why I have named this album (Rooh-ul-Ali) which means (Soul of Ali). You can't see the soul, but I believe that you can definitely feel your soul. It has been a blessing that whenever I am present in the court of God's good guardian, I am present with the intention and belief that I have to tell this God to his servant and Alhamdulillah! Their souls speak to me. And through them I convey my concerns to my Almighty God. This does not mean that I am a sage or that I go to the courts and bow down to these pious beings. I ask for something. Don't even think that. I have a heartfelt commitment to these good people and I know what shirk and innovation is and may God protect me and my children and my friends from this shirk. My intention is to tell only that the pure and blessed Self of God Almighty is a soul which exists in every human being, the only difference is that who achieves his pure purpose by finding this soul. And Alhamdulillah! I have found that Holy Spirit and I seek my holy purpose from this Spirit and my purpose is fulfilled. Thank God! In this album of mine (Rooh-ul-Ali) there are the following lessons that I am trying to convey to you friends with the hope that on the day of judgment my good efforts will definitely become a resource (Rooh-ul-Ali) in the hereafter and my children especially my ( (Muhammad Mustafa Raza) after listening to this, the Almighty God, the One and Only, will surely make my prayers for forgiveness for me. Do it and give him a long life. My prayers and good wishes will always remain for me (Muhammad Mustafa Raza) and I hope that my Muhammad Mustafa Raza will definitely remember this and pray for me. InshaAllah. Amen!

Something ominous bristles in Nasir's chest at the idea of what "only for a short amount of time, I fear" could mean to a beorc. Could mean to a beorc who's homeland may not have had a place like Goldoa. He doesn't want to think about it. He would rather not have to think about it.
"Goodness, now I feel old. That you won't even fancy a small guess? Here's a hint: it's above 300," He smirks, pettily dropping Kurthnaga's age as a baseline. And also his own granddaughter's. He's simply teasing though, as again, they are all alone in this cave. He doesn't particularly care if Duessel were to truly guess or not. It would be an amusing game, but if the other man does not want to bite... alas, Nasir shall have to be without entertainment.
"Goldoa is..." Nasir lets out a sigh. His feelings for his homeland were still so... terribly conflicted. On one hand, it was the place of his birth. Where he had been raised, where he had met Lynet and married her, where both his son and Ena had been born. But on the other...
Had he ever really loved Goldoa? He loved people there, of course, but had his homeland ever felt like... home to him? He left so often to wander Tellius, whether he was doing... something for his king, or simply because he needed to not let himself be stuck in one place for too long.
And he had been gone for so long, driven to storm away from his homeland, intending to never return. Were his positive feelings outweighed by the negative, what little he had of them?
"... it's a beautiful place. Open plains framed by the blue sky. Majestic mountains surrounding the whole kingdom, and all that. But however beautiful a prison, a prison is still a prison."

The Ruling Concerning The One With Food In His Mouth When The Time Of Fajr Comes In
Muhammad Nasir-Deen Al-Albaani [D.1420A.H] [رحمه الله] said:
❝The Prophet [ﷺ] said: 'If one of you hears the call to prayer and the vessel is still in his hand, then he should not put it down until he has taken his need from it.' [Collected By Ahmad, Abu Dawood, Hakim And He Authenticated It, And Dhahabi Agreed With Him]
This is evidence that if a person has the vessel of food or drink in his hand, and Fajr time comes up, then it is permissible for him to take what he needs to from that food and drink. This situation is exempt from the Ayaah:
'And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]' [Qur’ān, (2:187)]
Therefore, there is no conflict between this Ayaah and the meaning of those types of Ahadeeth and between this Hadeeth. There is no consensus to oppose this issue rather, a group from the Companions and other than them, are more towards the majority which is the benefit that can be derived from this Hadeeth. That is the permissibility of eating food and drink until the Fajr time becomes clear, and the whiteness starts to spread in the pathways.
And indeed from the benefits of this Hadeeth is the invalidity of the Bida’ [innovation] of withholding from eating and drinking before Fajr by about quarter of an hour. There are people who do this, fearing they will catch the Adhan of Fajr while they are in Suhoor [eating and drinking before Fajr with the intention of fasting].
If they had known this concession, they would not have fallen in to this Bida’, so reflect.❞
[Tamam Al-Mina Fee Taleeq Ala Fiqh-Us-Sunnah, (Page: 417) | Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya Miraath Al-Anbiyya]

End of Month Report (June): Illusionary Realm
Drabble Series Between Nasir and Kurthnaga, Getting Together Once a Month to Share Information (Last One)
Nasir finds Kurthnaga, as to be expected, cowering in a corner away from the observation of the illusion. Every inch of his body shakes with small termors, hands held tightly over his ears like that will change his perception of what exactly he was afraid of. It would have been far more logical for him to cover his eyes, were he to run and hide from all sight of one of the few things Kurthnaga brought himself to hate more than anything else in this world.
But Nasir should have learned long ago, that Kurthnaga's actions were often not as logical as he would want them to be. Kurthnaga was still young, still learning and taking leaps in judgement that were not always the most correct, acting on his emotion rather than his logic more often than not.
Almost three centuries into his lifespan, and yet still so much of a child. Not even yet past the appearance of a beorc teenager, young and stumbling along his path towards the future. Too young and immature to be a king, Nasir thinks to himself as he kneels beside the boy, gently prying his hands off of his cowering face as he tilted Kurthnaga's chin up to look at him.
(The boy often stood in stark contrast to Ena to Nasir. Ena who surely had to grow up far faster than Kurthnaga, because she had lost her parents so young - and though Nasir tried his best, there was no way he was always the perfect replacement. While Kurthnaga was ever coddled, raised and treasured as Goldoa's youngest, naive eyes held closed by his guardians while he longed for an escape. Perhaps the difference was that Ena had been far more free than Kurthnaga ever had been, even now.)
"Kurthnaga, look at me," Nasir says, calmly but not gently. The boy looks up at him, red eyes brimming with tears and all but throws himself into the white dragon's arms.
"Nasir! I know it wasn't... it wasn't real but... you...!" He manages to sob out, into the older dragon's shoulder, tears staining Nasir's white cloak as shudders wrack through Kurthnaga's small body. To Nasir, it was nothing more than a combat test, an illusion put forth by the academy to test their skills, to make sure that they would be ready for whatever was to come in the future. It was simple, and it was plain, nothing more than that.
But to Kurthnaga, as the observer, one not in the midst of the battle of illusion, one who was always so afraid of what battle had to hold for him that he would flee even at the mere thought of catching sight of a single drop of blood, why... he must have felt like he was watching the events of his worst nightmares go down in real time.
Nasir had failed to consider that, when searching out the boy. He knew he would likely be scared, but not how... affected he would truly be.
"Kurthnaga," Nasir is tempted to scold the boy, but holds his tongue as they sit side by side against the cold stone floor, Kurthnaga still sobbing into his shoulder. The poor thing, couldn't even hold his head up strong. But alas, he was still a child. He did not need to stand completely on his own quite yet. Until he could, Nasir would be always close, "Fine then, cry all you like. But remember: someday, there will not be someone to hold you while you cower in fear. What a king you make, dear boy."
Someday. But that day was certainly not today.

TAFAKKUR: Part 376
THE QUR'AN AND ESTABLISHED SCIENTIFIC FACTS: Part 1
It is another argument for the Divine authorship of the Qur’an that it refers to certain facts of creation recently established by modern scientific methods. How, except on account of its Divine authorship, is it possible for the Qur’an to be literally true on matters of which people had not the least inkling at the time when it was revealed? For example, if the Qu’ran were not a Divine Revelation, would it have been possible for it to contain such a verse as this: Do not the unbelievers realize that the heavens and the earth were one unit of creation before we split them asunder? (21.20).
Whether the Qur’an really does refer, explicitly or implicitly, to the kinds of facts the sciences deal with, and the relationship between the Qur’an and modern sciences, are matters of considerable controversy among Muslim intellectuals. We should therefore treat the subject at length.
SCIENCE AND RELIGION
THE CIVILIZATION ISLAM CREATED
The conflict of science and religion in the West dates back as far as the thirteenth century. Due to the essential character of the corrupted Christianity represented by the Catholic Church, which condemns nature as a veil separating man from God and curses the knowledge of nature, any scientific advances were not seen in the West during the middle ages, which are called dark ages in European history. However, during the same period a magnificent civilization was flourishing in the Muslim East. Muslims, obeying the injunctions of the holy Qur’an, studied both the Book of Divine Revelation, that is, the Qur’an, and the Book of Creation, that is, the universe, and founded the most magnificent civilization of human history. Scholars from all over the old world benefited from the centers of higher learning at Damascus, Bukhara, Baghdad, Cairo, Fez, Qairwan, Zeitona, Cordoba, Sicily, Isathan, Delhi, and other great centres throughout the Muslim world. Historians liken the Muslim world of the Middle Ages, dark for the West but bright for Muslims, to a beehive. Roads were full of students, scientists and scholas travelling from one center of learning to another. Many world-renowned figures such as al-Kindi, al-Khwarizrni, alFarabi, Ibn Sina, al-Mas’udi, lbn al-Haytham, al-Biruni, al-Ghazzali, Nasir al-Din al-Tusi, al-Razi and many others shone like stars in the firmament of the sciences. In his multivolume History of Science, George Sarton divided his work into fifty- year periods, naming each chapter after the most eminent scientist of the period in question. For the years from the middle of eighth century (second century after Hijra) to the twelfth century, each of seven fifty- year periods carries the name of a Muslim scientist. Thus we have ‘the Time of al-Khwarizmi, the Time of al-Biruni’, etc. Within these chapters Sarton lists one hundred important Muslim scientists and their principal works.
John Davenport, a leading scientist, observed:
It must be owned that all the knowledge whether of Physics, Astronomy, Philosophy or Mathematics, which flourished in Europe from the 10th century was originally derived from the Arabian schools, and the Spanish Saracen may be looked upon as the father of European philosophy (Quoted by A. Karim in Islamic Contribution to Science and Civilization).
Bertrand Russell, the famous British philosopher, wrote (Pakistan Quarterly, Vol.A, No.3):
The supremacy of the East was not only military. Science, philosophy, poetry, and the arts, all flourished in the Muhammadan world at a time when Europe was sunk in barbarism. Europeans, with unpardonable insularity, call this period ‘the Dark Ages’: but it was only in Europe that it was dark---indeed only in Christian Europe, for Spain, which was Mohammedan, had a brilliant culture.
Robert Briffault, the renowned historian, acknowledges in his book The Making of Humanity:
It is highly probable that but for the Arabs, modem European civilization would have never assumed that character which has enabled it to transcend all previous phases of evolution. For although there is not a single aspect of human growth in which the decisive influence of Islamic culture is not traceable, nowhere is it so clear and momentous as in the genesis of that power which constitutes the paramount distinctive force of the modern world and the supreme course of its victory- natural sciences and the scientific spirit... What we call sciences arose in Europe as a result of a new spirit of inquiry; of new methods of investigation, of the method of experiment, observation, measurement, of the development of Mathematics in a form unknown to the Greeks. That spirit and those methods were introduced into the European world by the Arabs.
For the first five centuries of its existence, the realm of Islam was the most civilized and progressive portion of the world. Studded with splendid cities, gracious mosques and quiet universities, the Muslim East offered a striking contrast to the Christian West, which was sunk in the night of the Dark Ages (L. Stoddard, The New World of Islam).
This bright civilization progressed until it suffered the terrible disasters which came like huge overlapping waves, from the West and Far East one after the other in the form of the Crusades and Mongol invasion. The disasters lasted centuries until the Muslim government in Baghdad collapsed and the history of Islam entered, from the beginning of the fourteenth century, a new phase with the Ottoman Turks. Islamic civilization was still vigorous and remained far ahead of the Christian West in economic and military fields until the eighteenth century, despite (from the sixteenth century onwards) losing ground to it in the sciences.
Cordoba in the tenth century under Muslim rule was the most civilized city in Europe, the wonder and admiration of the world. Travellers from the north heard with something like fear of the city which contained 70 libraries with hundreds of thousands of volumes, and 900 public baths, yet whenever the rulers of Leon Navarre of Barcelona needed a surgeon, an architect, a dressmaker or a musician, it was to Cordoba that they applied (T. Arnold, The Legacy of Islam, p.9). Muslim literary prestige was so great that in Spain, for example, it was found necessary to translate the Bible and liturgy into Arabic for the use of the Christian community. The account given by Alvaro, the Christian zealot and writer, shows vividly how even the non- Muslim Spaniards were attracted to Arab/Muslim literature:
My fellow-Christians delight in the poems and romances of the Arabs. They study the works of Muhammadan theologians and philosophers, not in order to refute them, but to acquire a correct and elegant Arabic style. Where today can a layman be found who reads the Latin commentaries on holy Scriptures? Who is there that studies the Gospels, the Prophets, the Apostles? Alas, the young Christians who are the most conspicuous for their talents have no knowledge of any literature or language save the Arabic; they read and study with avidity Arabian books; they amass whole libraries of them at a vast cost, and they everywhere sing the praises of the Arabian world (Indiculus Luminosus, translated by Dozy).
If the purpose of education and worth of civilization is to raise the sense of pride, dignity, honour in individuals so that they improve their state and consequently the state of society, Islamic civilization is proven to have been a worthy one. There is ample evidence quoted by various writers showing how Islam has succeeded in doing this to various peoples of various regions, e.g. Isaac Taylor, in his speech delivered at the Church Congress of England about the effects and influence of Islam on people, said:
When Muhammadanism is embraced, paganism, fetishism, infanticide and which craft disappear. Filth is replaced by cleanliness and the new convert acquires personal dignity and self-respect. Immodest dances and promiscuous intercourse of the sewes cease; female chastity is rewarded as a virtue; industry replaces idleness; licence gives place to law; order and sobriety prevail; blood feuds, cruelty to animals and slaves are eradicated. Islam swept away corruption and superstitions. Islam was a revolt against empty polemics.. It gave hope to the slave, brotherhood to mankind, and recognition to the fundamental facts of human nature. The virtues which Islam inculcates are temperance, cleanliness, chastity, justice, fortitude, courage, benevolence, hospitality, veracity and resignation.. Islam preaches a practical brotherhood, the social equality of all Muslims. Slavery is not part of the creed of Islam. Polygamy is a more difficult question. Moses did not prohibit it. It was practised by David and it is not directly forbidden in the New Testament. Muhammad limited the unbounded license of polygamy. It is the exception rather than the rule... In resignation to God’s Will, temperance, chastity, veracity and in brotherhood of believers they (the Muslims) set us a pattern which we should well to follow. Islam has abolished drunkenness, gambling and prostitution, the three curses of the Christian lands. Islam has done more for civilization than Christianity. The conquest of one-third of the earth to his (Muhammad’s) creed was a miracle.

Life (of) Surprise (5/6)
Jaskier lies to his family about being engaged to Geralt for the second time… and there are way too many surprises involved.
Part 4 of the Singer and the Sailor AU that no one asked for but I wrote anyway (again).
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4)
V - A Surprise Is Executed
Jaskier is so very in love as his niece sits in his lap.
Zofia couldn’t be more perfect. She’s so curious about everything, so cheerful and full of awe, like a tiny, beautiful sunbeam. From her father Nasir, she got her eyes almost as dark as coal, her medium-brown skin and her raven-black hair, while she resembles her mother – Jaskier’s sister Amelia – in angelic facial features and a mop of curls atop her head. She turns one-year-old tomorrow, which funnily falls on his and Geralt’s wedding day, and Jaskier couldn’t love her more.
With immense fascination, Zofia plays with Jaskier’s necklaces, tugging at them and trying to put them into her mouth. When Jaskier tells her not to do that, she looks up at him, seemingly surprised to find him there, but then recognition dawns on her face and she smiles.
“Unca!” she exclaims excitedly.
Jaskier melts.
“That’s me, Zosia,” he replies, his voice wavering. “I’m your uncle Jaskier.”
Zofia flashes him one more smile before her attention is caught by the floral pattern of his shirt. She grabs at the material and he giggles, explaining the names of the flowers to her. The girl tries to repeat some of the words he says, failing hilariously. As Jaskier laughs at her attempts, he hears another person chuckling too.
It’s only then that he realises that Yennefer has been here with them the whole time.
They are sitting in the comfortable armchairs in the music room in his house. Amelia has gone out shopping together with Rozalia, Ciri and Dara, leaving her daughter in Jaskier and Yennefer’s care. Not that Jaskier cannot be trusted with small children by himself. Yennefer is just a... coincidental backup. She only came here to drop Ciri off so that she would hang out with Dara. Really.
As Jaskier tears his eyes away from Zofia, he’s surprised to find Yennefer gazing at him and his niece... wistfully. The emotion is gone the moment she notices him looking.
“We didn’t get to meet Ciri when she was this little,” she says defensively.
“Would you like to hold her, then?” he offers.
Yennefer’s gaze turns sharp, lightning-like, but before Jaskier can start rambling and take it back, she answers, “Yes.”
He takes Zofia into his arms and carries her to put her in Yennefer’s lap. The girl fusses and begins crying, scared by the closeness of a person she doesn’t recognise. Jaskier crouches at Yennefer’s side and tries to talk to Zofia soothingly. When that doesn't work, he shows her his necklaces and this, at least, distracts her enough to stop her weeping.
When Zofia calms somewhat, Yennefer puts her hand on the girl’s back. Zofia looks up at her and Yennefer smiles so warmly, so beautifully, that Jaskier’s heart flutters a little bit. She talks to Jaskier’s niece in such a soft, gentle voice that Jaskier just sits down right there at her feet and watches her, stunned.
“You’re a sweet child, aren’t you, little Zosia?” Yennefer croons, still smiling, when Zofia touches her locks with a delighted giggle.
“My, my,” Jaskier murmurs, with a certain degree of awe he finds himself unable to conceal, “When one bears witness to you like this, it is not a hardship to believe that you have a heart.”
Yennefer snorts. “Don’t get ahead of yourself,” she replies, not looking away from Zofia.
“Of course!” he laments. “Her affections are held by but the chosen few and alas, I’m not among them. With me, she knows no mercy! Woe me, for she swore to strike me with a near-fatal blow. After all, she’s stolen the heart of my very own guardian angel!”
What he means is Yennefer’s recent relationship with his long-time agent, Triss. Yennefer doesn’t show an ounce of shame about that.
“If you think that everyone’s thoughts revolve around you,” she answers, allowing Zofia to play with the rings on her fingers, “Then I’m slightly concerned for your mental well-being, starlet.”
“Concerned, she says!” Jaskier exclaims. “You wouldn’t be concerned about me even if I were on the brink of death. Such is my miserable fate, despised by the world’s most powerful woman!”
Yennefer sighs in a way painfully long-suffering. “Your dramatics are exhausting, starlet, and I refuse to suffer them. Leave it for tomorrow.”
It is then that it hits him.
“Oh my god,” Jaskier breathes out. “I’m marrying Geralt tomorrow.”
Yennefer gives a very Geralt-like hmm. “Who would’ve thought.”
“Oh c’mon,” he protests, “I’m quite a catch!”
She raises one perfect eyebrow. “It baffles me that some people seem to think so, and Geralt most of all.”
“You’re just bitter, witch,” Jaskier grumbles.
Yennefer actually chuckles at that, her violet eyes glimmering with amusement. Zofia gets bored of sitting in her lap and tries to get off, so Yennefer puts her on the floor. The girl reaches out for Jaskier. He takes her little hands in his, helping her stand up. They make a slow round around the room until Zofia decides to head back to the armchairs, sit on the carpet and play with one of Jaskier’s Gucci slippers.
All throughout, Yennefer watches her with that gorgeous, affectionate smile. Jaskier can see why Geralt was mad about her.
“You two are a very unlikely pair,” Yennefer remarks when Zofia crawls to her and inspects her shoes.
“Yes, well.” He shrugs. “Opposites attract, and all that. I like to think that we’re two puzzle pieces. A perfect fit.”
“Puzzle pieces!” she repeats, barking a harsh laugh. “Oh, starlet, if only it was this easy.”
“Why wouldn’t it be?” he bristles.
“Don’t be foolish,” she chides. “A real relationship starts after three years. Before that, it’s just a romantic comedy.”
Jaskier purses his lips but doesn’t argue; she did spend almost a decade married to Geralt.
“Any advice, then?” he asks jokingly.
Yennefer actually considers it.
“Always be kind to each other,” she tells him, her face twisting with echoes of old, deep pain.
Jaskier only nods. They don’t speak for some time, focusing on Zofia. The girl starts getting moody after not seeing her mum around for such a long while. It’s a miracle she hasn’t got upset much earlier anyway. Thankfully, Amelia and the rest return a few minutes later.
“I think you haven’t shown us the wedding rings,” Yennefer says apropos of nothing after she returns Zofia to the safety of Amelia’s arms.
Jaskier blinks in surprise, realising that she’s right. He and Geralt had them made only two weeks ago. They decided on two silver bands, as gold felt too impersonal, both with a satin finish, Jaskier’s ring additionally encrusted with diamonds. Since Geralt entrusted them to him for safekeeping (and possibly also because Dara is their ring bearer anyway), Jaskier’s been, delicately put, protective of them. He only allowed anyone to see them in pictures.
“I haven’t, actually,” he admits. “Do you want to see them?”
Everyone nods. Reluctantly, Jaskier heads to his bedroom, where the box with the rings is hidden deep in a drawer of his bedside table. He’s more than certain to find them there. His heart stops when he discovers that they’ve somehow disappeared.
Gut-twisting panic rises within him. With shaking hands, Jaskier rakes all the drawers, then looks everywhere in the bedroom, but the box is gone.
“Fuck,” he curses with feeling. “Fuck, fuck fuckitty fuck!”
He more or less runs to the kitchen, where the rest waits.
“I’ve lost them!” he cries. “Help me look!”
Without another look at them, Jaskier goes about rummaging through the whole place frantically. Living room, the two guest rooms, the bathrooms – and still, nothing. He whimpers, wondering how’s Geralt going to react. He’s going to be disappointed, of course, but not surprised maybe, Jaskier did fuck up greatly once already. God, what if –
“Jaskier!” Ciri calls from the living room.
“They’re here!” Dara.
Jaskier rushes to them and sees the rings, resting in their box, on the coffee table, which baffles him so much that he stops dead in his tracks. He’s sure they weren’t there when he searched the room a few minutes ago.
“What,” he says, “the f – hell.”
Dara giggles. Ciri does too. Suddenly, everyone else is in the room, laughing hysterically.
“What’s so funny?” Jaskier demands. “This isn’t funny!”
Between one wheeze and another, Rozalia chokes out, “Of course you haven’t lost them!”
“You guard them like a dragon guards its hoard!” Amelia adds. “It wasn’t easy to take them away from you.”
Letting out a scandalised gasp, Jaskier points an accusing finger in the general direction of his sisters and Yennefer. “You – !”
“Your panic was extremely gratifying,” Yennefer says with a shit-eating grin.
“I hate you,” he grouses, shooting the three devious women a sulky look. “Why would you do that to me?! It wasn’t funny!”
“It was,” Dara objects. Ciri nods in agreement.
“Not you too!” Jaskier complains, throwing his hands up in the air. “You’re supposed to be on my side, young man! I’m surrounded by trai –”
“Just look on the inside of the rings, Julek,” Roza sighs tiredly.
He frowns, taking the bands to inspect them. “There’s nothing on the inside –”
There is, in fact, something on the inside of the rings. An engraving in small, elegant cursive, which wasn't there even a few hours ago.
Lead me, dearest, to the coast of tomorrow
Jaskier swallows hard, his throat suddenly tight. It’s such a sweet sentiment – his own lyric, the words he wrote for Geralt, in Geralt’s favourite song of his, with a lovely twist.
For a good minute, Jaskier is rendered speechless. When he finally manages to speak, he looks at his sisters and whispers hoarsely, “Thank you.”
“Oh, don’t thank us,” Amelia replies. “This was Yen’s idea.”
Jaskier stares at Yennefer, his mouth hanging open.
“The rings were lacking,” she explains with disdain that he sees right through.
Before Jaskier knows what he’s doing, he’s moving. He sweeps her into a tight hug, ignoring her protests about it.
“Oh, witch,” he murmurs to her, “You’re so wonderful.”
“That I am,” she replies. “You’re not so bad yourself.”
He chuckles, giddy all of the sudden. Yennefer shoves him away.
Jaskier laughs harder and blows her a kiss, enjoying her disgust.

Spartacus!
aww thank you so much :D
the character i least understand
- the fucking romans
interactions i enjoyed the most
- agron and nasir’s interactions are godtier, also the rebel generals conferencing, also agron and duro’s bc they’re adorable
the character who scares me the most
- lol ngl marcus crassus scared me in an annoying way bc he thinks like the rebels and therefore somehow knows how the rebels work
the character who is mostly like me
- i’m gonna say agron bc we’re both *cough* tops and we both want to fuck nasir and we’re very attracted to him too and we both curse like there’s no tomorrow
hottest looks character
- agron hands down but nasir comes a close second
one thing i dislike about my fave character
- agron pushing nasir away bc of his possessiveness and jealousy (and frankly bc he is also insecure and thinks nasir would find happiness in someone else’s arms) i understand him totally but like what if nasir wasn’t nasir and he just gave up on agron? i’m gonna die but i’m so happy nasir loves agron too much to not give up on him ;_;
one thing i like about my hated character
- romans who didn’t side with the rebels? nah they’re a bunch of mfs
a quote or scene that haunts me
- castus saying nasir returns his feelings omfg that shit still haunts me to this day i hate it bc i interpreted it as somehow true like altho nasir’s true love is agron he was attracted to castus at least that’s how i interpreted it whether i like it or not :(
a death that left me indifferent
- romans’ deaths (those who aren’t allies of spartacus at least)
a character i wish died but didn’t
- marcus crassus but alas he was alive like in true history fashion when spartacus went mia
my ship that never sailed
- agron/donar lmfaooooooooooo i love them a specific one-sided and unrequited love (donar having feelings for agron but agron doesn’t return them)

Nasir cannot blame the young woman for looking somewhat disappointed. Some part of her, too, is also disappointed. But perhaps it is for the best that they were unable to find anything in their search. Because if Nasir and her sharp eyes could not discern a single reasonable hiding place for something so valuable in this shack, then there was no way that scheming, no good, beorc would be able to get their hands on such a thing. If Nasir had no luck, she could only hope that no one else would either.
She twines her fingers through long blue curls as she quietly follows Ishtar towards the outside of the house, noting the presence of three newcomers. Beorc, all three of them wearing cloaks to conceal their faces. As if they were prepared to ransack the house and then flee with what they intended to take to never be seen again.
Alas, they would not have much luck if they were here for the reasons that Nasir could only assume that they were.
She lends the young woman a nod in agreement, to back up her claims that there was indeed nothing within this house worth taking, let alone any potion that could bring those long dead back to the land of the living.
"I fear there is nothing worth your while within these walls," Nasir says with a sneer, "You will not find what you are looking for, and perhaps you should not. Such things they are... well, they are forbidden for a reason; are they not?"
didn't this happen in the bible
