Andrew knew this day would show up sooner than later. Joel is crazy about Saeyi, and if Andrew heard any of his younger brother’s drunken rambles correctly in the past? Saeyi did not want to go close to another ten years as just Joel’s girlfriend. He didn’t make as much money as her. Still, Joel grew up and got better with his money management (with some help from their sister) could afford an excellent ring fit for his queen and invited their parents, sister, the couple’s friend, and everyone. Got them all in a room to tell everyone how much he loves Saeyi and got down on one knee. Mom cried. Dad looked proud. Saeyi said, ‘yes,’ of course. After working the room, showing off the rock, and accepting the congratulations, Joel approached Andrew at the bar. He clapped his hand over his older brother’s shoulder, squeezing it. He looks so damn happy. Why does Andrew feel so weird? He drinks away what ugly feeling claws at his chest as Joel talks, only paying attention to half of it when something reaches his ears louder than his other words. “You’re going to be my best man, right?” Andrew can’t say no, won’t say no. It’s his younger brother – his first and hopefully only marriage. Left alone again at the bar, Andrew rubs his eyes before ordering another round. Maybe this will be a long engagement. So earlier in art class today, someone drew a characters hands in their pockets and mentioned that hands are really like the ultimate end boss of art, and most of us wholeheartedly agreed. So then, our teacher went ahead and free handed like a handful of hands on the board, earning a woah from a couple of students. So the one from earlier mentioned how it barely took the teacher ten seconds to do what I can’t do in three hours. And you know what he responded?

“It didn’t take me ten seconds, it took me forty years.”

And you know, that stuck with me somehow. Because yeah. Drawing a hand didn’t take him fourth years. But learning and practicing to draw a hand in ten seconds did. And I think there’s something to learn there but it’s so warm and my brain is fried so I can’t formulate the actual morale of the lesson.

And yet for all the people she saves, she thinks about the wolves left in Rome, the Lupo pack that she'd listened for on her walks near the forest, so she's not surprised to find one. She is surprised to find him covered in blood from finger to elbow, completely feral. This is not one she wants to stumble upon and yet she's only a few feet from them, eyes wide and muscles tense as they make eye contact.
