Hello all! I’m so sorry that I haven’t been active here for a while- there’s been an ongoing police investigation that I’ve been swept into for the past month or so.

Apparently, my father is a confirmed criminal back in Johto, which came as a massive shock, especially considering that I haven’t seen him since I was a teenager. Either way, he’s gone missing, and I was approached about it.

As of right now, I am conducting interviews with a detective and another court official sporadically while still maintaining my farm-any local Cortondo kids who want to battle me/play on the farm, please make sure there aren’t any foreign vehicles in the drive before coming to pick produce!

synopsis: this is literally just headcanons of what would happen if our beloved abby anderson attended your family’s thanksgiving/reunion if you don’t celebrate. very much black reader-centric, but anyone’s welcome to read it esp if you��re from the south cause this is also heavily southern reader coded.

bringing abby anderson to your black (southern) family’s thanksgiving would be a sight to behold.

and imagine its everyone’s FIRST time meeting her too. assuming everyone is super cool and unhateful, i just know she’d have all the aunties’ attention. they see her height, her build and turn to you talkin about, “now, where’d you find her?”

abby would 100% be in ya grandmama’s backyard huddled around the grill with the uncles and dads. she’s got a lil beer in hand (she probably doesn’t even like beer but she likes fitting in and it isn’t all bad when the bonding is genuine) one of em goes “mhm that turkey bout done smokin” and abby is taking mental notes cause one day, she’s gonna smoke a turkey for you two’s family, in your backyard, and your grandkids are gonna be running around

the kids are OBSESSED with her. they climb her like she’s a jungle gym, ask her to throw them in the air, ask her all types of questions. “ABIGAIL! come play with us!” and she does, but the whole time she’s wondering how they discovered what her full name is cause she sure ain’t tell em lool

sometime after, she gets together in the livingroom with you and your cousins, then that one uncle or aunt comes in, says a few words, then leaves with a plate. the gossip commences lol and she’s so in tune to what ya’ll are talking about. she thought her family could dog somebody out?

all that pales in comparison to yall’s words. these sly (and sometimes even blatant) insults are unhinged, the storyline is juicy. she feels like she’s listening to an audiobook of lore. and whenever she asks a question for clarification, someone is always ready to start from the beginning with “see, what had happened was” and “to make a long story short” (the story was not made short)

then it actually comes time to eat, time for her to have her taste buds born anew

your family has whipped up some southern classics: sweet potato pie, pig feet, neck bones and collard greens, cabbage, pound cake, and every other dish you can think of.

you were in charge of the sweet tea, but this year you made a peach batch cause you know abby likes peaches 🥰

ya’ll say grace cause lets be real, if this is the south, somebody baptist and its probably the family matriarch lol

abby is respectful about it whether she believes in god or not cause your family has treated her with the most open of arms and she can feel the love and hospitality all around (if god is real, she thinks, he would’ve wanted everyone who believes in him to be like my sweet girl’s family)

when ya’ll are done and everyone has plated their food, they’re all silently waiting for the white girl’s reaction. they’re trying to play it off, be casual, not stare LOL but they know what’s coming i must admit

and abby doesn’t disappoint cause as you’re sitting next to her, soon as she puts some of them collard greens in her mouth and a couple candied yams and your grandaddy’s secret cast iron skillet macaroni recipe in her mouth, the satisfaction is written all over her face

everyone starts laughing when one of the kids say, “damn, girl, is it good?” to which they’re scolded lol but ofc abby nods like she’s trying to shake the hair follicles out her head

after everyone has ate and said what they’re thankful for (she says she’s thankful for you ofc but she leaves out how thankful she is for getting to strap you down at least twice a week), you two go sit on the porch alone.

you’re leaned against her in a two-seater rocking chair, bellies impossibly full, enjoying the gentle breeze and setting sun and the scent of food that is still wafting from the house

one of your cousin’s kids runs up from the backyard, comes up to you asking for help with opening a new toy, so you help

abby sees how cool you are, how in your element you are with your family, and this moment truly solidifies how much she wants this with you too. ya’ll have had the kids conversation before, so she knows you want at least one

she can’t help but think how gorgeous you’d look bein her housewife, barefoot and pregnant and divine and ethereal, starting a family, never having to worry for a thing bc she’s gonna take care of you

and she knows, when she needs it, you’ll take care of her too

Her name is Athena and she is my war domain cleric of eilistraee. Her character sheet is here and this post is very long so I’ll put most of it under the cut! Once I start talking about my tavs I literally can’t stop, also I talk about her relationship with rolan a little bit so that’s why he’s tagged <3

What is your tav’s….

favorite weapon?

- Athena’s favourite weapon is a longsword you find in act 1 called the Phalar Aluve

style of combat?

- She is usually in the frontline swinging her singing sword while casting spirit guardians. She also loves ambushing, as it’s a great way to get advantage over others

most prized possession?

- Athena has two lockets that she wears 24/7. One locket was a gift to her from her mother. The other locket belonged to her sister. Athena’s mother had a tradition to get each of her children a matching locket with a photo of the family in it to remind them that no matter what happens they are with them all the time. As Athena’s parents and sister had passed away she had both the lockets on her at all times to feel close to her family

deepest desire?

- To have a family of her own. She was orphaned at the age of 14 and became her little sisters full time carer. 4 years later her sister got very ill, so Athena became a cleric to help look after and heal her.

Her healing magic helped her sister stay alive for 5 years until her sister Rose succumbed to her illness and passed away. Athena felt empty as she now had no family left and she felt as if she had failed as a cleric. She would love nothing more than to have a family to call her own, yet it’s one of the things she fears most as she doesn’t want to let anyone else down

guilty pleasure?

- Athena’s guilty pleasure is gossiping, she knows she shouldn’t but she loves listening in on others business. Her, astarion and shadowheart basically have a gossiping club at this point where they tell each other all the juicy stuff

best-kept secret?

- That she is a sword dancer of eilistraee. A sword dancer is a specialized priestess (cleric) of Eilistraee. Athena had been a follower of eilistraee since she was little but once her sister died leaving her to be the last in her family, she felt as if the only thing she had left was her religion. She decided that she wanted to become a sword dancer. As she already lived on the surface becoming a sword dancer was slightly easier as to become one you must spend at least a month on the surface dancing each moonlit night for eilistraee and you had to witness dawn at least once.

She also went and offered her services at the Promenade of the Dark Maiden, she wasn’t there for long before she was taken by the nautiloid.

greatest strength?

- Her dedication, when she puts her mind to something or she wants something she will get it

fatal flaw?

- She blames herself a bit to much and she shuts down while doing it. This is seen when rolan yelled at her in the shadow lands and even after saving the tieflings from moonrise she still wasn’t herself and became very quiet for some time although she didn’t let that stop her from her task of infiltrating moonrise towers

favorite smell?

- She loves the smell of freshly baked bread, it reminds her of home when her mother would bake bread for the family in the mornings

*bit of post game lore of Athena x rolan hehe* when Rolan found this out he always made sure that there was bread being freshly baked in the kitchen each morning, nothing made him happier than seeing the smile on Athena’s face each and every morning. Of course when Athena would ask him if he was doing it for her and if he would ask them to also make some of her other fav bakery goods, he would of course deny what she said and tell her to not be greedy lmao

favorite spell or cantrip?

- She loves AOE spells such as glyph of warding and flame strike

pet peeve?

- She hates lying, she can usually see through people when it comes to lying and she makes sure that they know she isn’t happy especially if it’s someone she considers a friend or someone she has more intimate feelings for

bad habit?

- When she is nervous or stewing over something she plays with her hair and pulls out strands of her hair. The only companion that called her out on it was karlach, but as this was a habit Athena wasn’t actually aware she was doing she dismissed karlach’s worry

She was then called out by rolan which made her kinda pull back, shocked he would notice something like that (she thought he hated her) she was now well aware she was doing it and actively tries to avoid doing it. She also went and apologized to karlach for dismissing her worry

hidden talent?

- She is really good at lock picking , she likes to joke that she could give astarion a run for his money which he doesn’t agree with of course. She never lets him forget about when he was struggling to open a chest and after like 100 goes Athena had a go and immediately lock-picked it lmao (based on when astarion failed lock-picking like 20 times and then when i got Athena to have a go she got a NAT 20 lol)

leisure activity?

- Painting/drawing and singing. Before she became a cleric she would paint and sell her artwork on the city streets of waterdeep that’s how she made money to keep her and her sister alive. Now whenever she gets a free chance she will sit down and draw/paint landscapes until the sun goes down. And while she is painting she will be singing or humming along to one of her favourite songs

favorite drink?

- She loves a plain cup of coffee, she has a lot on her mind and she feels coffee helps her to relax, although some people might beg to differ

comfort food?

- Her comfort food is her mums homemade soup, whenever she has the time and ingredients she will make it as it reminds her of home and brings her immense comfort

favorite person(s)?

- Athena has multiple favourite people and all for different reasons. Her most favourite person though would have to be rolan. Even though they had a rocky relationship when they first met, Athena was nothing but nice to rolan, she admired the love he had for his family (a value she thinks is very important). They ended up getting together after the fall of the absolute.

After the fall of the brain, Athena went to rolan to catch up and to tell him that she was going back to waterdeep and well Rolan kinda lost it and confessed his feelings for her right then and there.

-Jaheira is another one of her favourite people. Athena views jaheria as a mother figure and was on the verge of tears when Jaheira first started calling her cub. Anyone around could see that Jaheira was very important to Athena and that she was the mother figure Athena wished she still had in her life

*more Athena x Rolan lore cause I’m obsessed with them lol* when Rolan was thinking of asking Athena to marry him, he went and asked Jaheira for her blessing as he knew the importance of their relationship

- platonic: she loves hugs, especially giving them,

fondest childhood memory?

- Playing at the local park with her family just before her parents passed away, it was one of the last times as a family and the last time she truly felt carefree and happy

- She LOVES reading, once she opens a book it’s all over, you’ve lost her lol you won’t hear from her until she’s finished said book (that’s mainly cause she actually struggles to read and takes forever to finish) it’s one thing that she missed most while traveling to baldur’s gate as she had no time to just sit down and read for hours

this affects casey really badly. ARE YOU SURPRISED..? DID YOU THINK SHE WAS HEARTLESS? so did I. mm basically she goes like catatonic immediately after (even through the funeral which michelle has to guide her to like she could float away at any second)

michelle is a supportive presence for her during this because shes like jeez idk she might kill herself im worried. and shes ALSO fucked up about nell dying bcuz she was involved in the same event ladybug was killed in (goldstars very first crisis event we;re so proud of her) and you know. shes never experienced the classic superhero experience of one of your hero peers dying horribly tragically. so her looking after casey is probably also her way of coping, like a way of keeping her hands busy because shes realizing hero work is actually kind of scary

shes only broken out of her 0__0 state by ..um. BOOSTER GOLD COMING OVER BECAUSE HE WAS LIKE MAN..SHOULD I SAY SOMETHING? (hes genuinely a little worried) (BUT NO DONT)

seeing booster breaks the dam in her heart and all her feelings coming flooding out in form of crazy migraine inducing rage (im getting deja vu) and she throws shit at him screaming at him to GTFO and hes like crawling away with a broken nose OK good talk and ted and michelle are like WHY TF DID YOU DO THAT?and after that casey goes into the worst state of depression shes ever experienced in her life...ive mentioned in an ask before i think that she doesnt really get sad? when bad things happen to her she just gets angry. she never cries genuine tears. so the state she gets into here is really scarily jarring because its so fucking WEEEIRDLY OUT OF CHARACTER. she spends all day crying and whenever michelle comes over now she feels sick looking at her and she cries and cries and cries and whines that she doesnt want to see her she wants nell and she stays holed up in their apartment until shes kicked out because no ones paying rent and shes moves cities without saying a word to anyone. she only realized after she died that she actually did love (EW. sorry) nell and now she doesnt even have any way of knowing if they couldve done anythng with that. she hates booster more than ever she hates ted she cant talk to michelle anymore she hates gotham she hates her life she hates everything, eventually she does get a job in the film industry as like a screenwriter/editor but she hates that its not exactly what she wanted that shes just barely almost there and she should be excited to be so close to her goals but shes not so shes just this grouchy miserable (but good at her job!) woman that no one wants to talk to and then she dies. the end.

Would Eamhrys ever consider taking on a Champion of his own?

Woah, thank you for the ask!! That is an interesting question, actually, i've never thought about that!!

Well, if i wanted to be a party pooper, i'd theorize upon existing lore that, since Eamhrys is not a dragon and specifically not a scion of Mordremoth — as in, not his direct offspring — but simply a minion of very juicy Champion status, even if directly molded by Mordremoth, he is unable to create or sufficiently bond with others via his magic in order to establish Champions of his own. He'd probably be able to create other minions, like Shatterer did by corrupting other beings, for example, but not a full-on Champion.

Now, i'm not a party pooper, and entertaining the idea makes stuff more interesting anyway! And Eamhrys might've got upgraded following the deaths of the Elder Dragons, too, so who knows! I'm not gonna discredit that. In this hypothetical, i'd say… it's complicated.

He would never do it, if he could help it.

Shaped by his experiences, and not personally acquainted with anyone from Dragon's Watch to discredit them, it's hard for Eamhrys to view bonding with a Champion as anything other than irreversibly tainting said person, especially if done by a creature forged by a maliciously-aligned Elder Dragon such as Mordremoth. And the bond itself can be something so personal, down to sensing each other's emotional state — he is most probably unprepared for that kind of vulnerability, however at peace he might seem to an outside perspective.

Moreover, a forced Champion is a dead one — in his eyes, nothing is worse than stripping someone of their will, puppeteer them around, even if the influence is vague, and essentially doom them to die at the hands of someone they cherished, or kill the ones they loved instead. He'd never subject anyone to that fate, having experienced it firsthand.

A willing Champion? If anyone asked Eamhrys to make them one, he would refuse (if they even find out he's capable of doing so). He has no interest in having someone bound to him in this way, and it would only further the crippling guilt he has about his origins. He considers every other living being already perfect without the need for interference of such magnitude.

What he doesn't know is that his own being was very likely somehow purified by the druid magic back in Maguuma, so him taking on a Champion would be pretty different to Mordremoth, and a lot safer.

There is a circumstance where a willing bond with someone could theoretically be established, but it would take a lot of "if's" to happen. A mortally injured ally, one foot in the grave. Nobody else to help except Eamhrys, and his healing firebrand magic does not work at all, much less mundane healing kits. The ally being someone he absolutely cannot lose, whether it's family, dear friend, or a colleague he cares about so much he'd be willing to doom them to this new existence. He would be a lot more hesitant to even bring up the topic to a stranger.

Eamhrys would need consent regardless, and, unfortunately for him, in that fragile, terrified state the person might do or agree to anything to survive — though depends on the individual, of course. Only then would he indulge in something so sinful as saving a being from absolute destruction via a Champion bond. He will sustain them on his own magic and heal their wounds, nurse them back to health. He would also be fully prepared for that relationship to be irreversibly broken/changed afterwards and for the saved to hate him. Would even kind of expect it. But he wouldn't be able to hide the guilt and sorrow that he feels towards the situation anymore, since two would be intrinsically linked together :)

In theory, a situation where somebody might convince Eamhrys to connect to a person in this way might occur even without near-death experiences, but the circumstances still must be dire :,) or else he wouldn't even consider it. He's boring that way

Anyway, thank you for the ask again!! This was really fun to think about :)

Hey I’m the anon that sent in the ask about Nick getting his leg cut off! Thank you for answering it and I’m glad you think it’s an interesting idea!

I wanted to expand on it a little if that’s okay….

Who do you think would end up doing it? Maybe one of the counselors in the poolroom with him would ask Dylan about his hand being gone and then suggest the idea for Nick?

Or maybe, sometime during the night after Abi shoots him and he runs away, Nick is back in human form. He’s just sitting there, thinking, then he remembers Dylan’s hand being gone and puts two and two together. He ends up finding something sharp in the woods (like a machete or some razor wire) and cutting the leg off himself. Maybe there would have to be some QTEs the player has to catch in order for him to do it right. Maybe in this scenario, his survival is dependent on Jacob or Emma. If Jacob and/or Emma are alive and/or uninfected, one of them will find him and help him back to the main camp house where he can take refuge in the storm shelter with Abi and/or Emma. If neither of them are alive, however, he would be alone in the woods and bleed out, making another possible death for him.

In either scenario, there could also be a cute scene with Nick and Emma in the storm shelter where he apologizes to her and they reconcile.

Sorry for rambling! I just think this would be a cool alternative idea for Nick so he is shown more in the game!

"I suddenly super need to know if the lycanthrope is more curse or more infection. Like, it operates a bit as both, obviously, but is it like venom? We know people have different tolerances for it, some take longer to change - is that a constitution thing? Jacob does take the longest time to change, but Nick is one of the shortest. Emma takes a different amount of time depending if she was bitten by Max or Caleb, so are different werewolves different levels of toxic? Is it about the location of the bite? Does it travel via the bloodstream or the lymphatic system? Would a tourniquet or pressure immobilisation bandaging help stave it off? In Australia we're taught how to treat snake bites in infants school, if Nick had insisted on that kind of first aid would he have made it long enough for Laura to explain and for a choice about amputation to be made? Would they have believed Laura's story without seeing Nick transform?

So I think this is super relevant to anon's question as far as: how soon do we need to cut to stop the spread, and how do we know where to cut to stop the spread?

My instinct is that even by the time Dylan suggests amputation for Nick, it would already be too late (not that anyone is going for it anyway), but I don't know that for sure. We see the black branching up Dylan's arm pretty quickly after he gets bitten, but cutting off his hand still takes care of it, so it's like the physical bite itself is somehow continuing to spread the infection for some unknown amount of time.

So, yeah, no idea how much time we'd have to do it. You definitely wouldn't want to risk doing it too late and ending up limbless AND infected, unless you're pretty darn sure that transforming would cause the limb to grow back. I don't know that I think entire limbs would grow back, I tend to hc that the amputation wound would heal if you were infected, but that's it. But, as with many parts of the lore in this game, it's unclear! We don't see if Laura's eye is actually just badly damaged or if that's a truly empty socket, it's just a dark void in her face.

Anyway, Nick cutting his own leg off with razor wire would be metal as fuck, but I can't imagine him actually doing that!

Part of me wants to say Abi should have to be the one to cut Nick's leg off so we get couples maiming each other symmetry with Dylan and Ryan, but I don't think she'd be able to do it, she's so mild-mannered and I hc her as not being good with blood at all. She does manage to shoot Nick with a shotgun if you choose that though, so maybe I'm not giving her enough credit!

You know who probably would be willing to do it, though? Jacob. Jacob might actually be impulsive enough to cut Nick's leg off with a hacksaw or something if he's around at the right time.

We were just talking in the Discord about needing a 'stop the bleeding' qte for Dylan, something like that would be fun for Nick too. Go find a tourniquet! (I love the possibility of a tourniquet actually slowing the infection too, even without amputating, that's such a good thought!)

Yunobo.

I feel like he's thankfully gotten WAY more appreciation in this latest game now that he gives you a very useful mid-game ability, but I just have so many thoughts about Yunobo right now (which I am rattling down into a little fic as we speak) and he's just such a good bean. There's some Emotional Issues you can dig into with him, but he's not a popular character to play around with bc he's not one that's often shipped with anyone.

Anyways I love this little rock with my whole ass and heart, and am super looking forward to sharing some of my thoughts about him when I post another lil chappie of an ongoing TotK one shot fic about the sages!

21) part of canon you think is overhyped

Answering for Steven Universe-

Anything involving Homeworld Gem lore drops and the Diamonds, honestly. There's a simple reason for this, and it's that on a personal scale I was always infinitely more interested in the mundane little day-to-day of Steven's world than I was about the looming threat of the Gem Empire lurking in the distance. Where Homeworld's story intersects with Steven's, I'm always happy to get some more character interplay and lore... but I was never the type of SU fan to be super big into wanting like, a cohesive history for the Gems as a whole, I guess?

I think many folks watched SU specifically for the sci-fi fantasy aspect of it, focusing solely on the Gems and the plotline about the return of Homeworld forces to Earth, but I'm like "eh" on caring super hard about that. Gimme more juicy Steven and CG or Steven and his dad scenes instead :3

1. Where were they during the Calamity? 

caranar and kozu were both in the same place actually, right as things were coming to a head in carteneau caranar appeared in the middle of the night on kozu's doorstep in gridania bloodied and half-dead, years after he disappeared without a word. as soon as caranar was stabilized and sleeping in kozu's sickbeds, he was going to head to the front himself but as he moved to do so caranar threw a half-lucid fit choking out a desperate plea for him not to leave. and despite his instinct and initial deep desire to head to the front to do anything he could to help even after being delayed, kozu found himself reassigning his tasks as a hearer and member of the twin adders to instead stay by caranar's side as the moon fell. caranar clung to his hand the whole night.

caranar was born into the bairon tribe of the nhaama desert, and it was rough but not extremely so. however after he gained the echo at around age 5, all his predictions were of calamities that came to befall his tribe. they blamed him as the source of it, with his mother shielding him as best she could. he foresaw her death, and with it he decided to never mention his visions again. he fled from the tribe soon after, fearing a hypothetical retribution. at 7-8ish he struggled his way out of the desert and onto the plains of the azim steppe. he was taken in by a few different groups, and grew to despise how the stronger clans of xaela threw their weight around to abuse or outright slaughter the smaller and disadvantaged ones. in his adolescence he started a group of non-tribe sworn bandits that specifically stole from the strongest tribes and gave to those in need to try and even the score, going so far as to herd livestock across the steppe to avoid retribution from their targets. it collapsed around him though when the empire briefly invaded the steppe, and he left as a martyr hoping to give a pointless chase to those who wanted him captured. hero to some, pariah to others. kozu was born in golmore, and I have a lot of lore about their childhood but... they themselves don't remember most of it anymore. the big thing is they secretly traded spots with their twin sibling, who begged to not be taken in as a warder. their training as a warder was tough, but his mentor warden died before his training had officially completed. he never left the territory he watched over in fear he'd never be recognized as a true and proper warder, as a true viera, despite the green word connecting and guiding them still. his fear froze him, he didn't want to risk facing anyone and having the multiple scary truths come to light, and in the process a lot of his self faded away over time. he can't even remember his forest name by the time he left.

Ok so there are a few things that have stayed in my mind after this week's episode (just Suletta and Guel stuff, because I don't have the capacity for anyone else lol)

OMG Suletta I am SO sorry. Her development will be SO juicy and interesting. I want to know how she is going to handle this, I need some breakup feels!

She did ask Guel if he could look out for earth house; if she had won. Now I'm interested if he might help them regardless? I wonder if he might become the awkward messenger between the broken up Suletta and Mio

I'm bad with understanding the Combat, but the AI did a lot of heavy lifting for Guel, right? I wonder if he will pilot again, and if it will come back to bite him. That said, it was really really sweet seeing his crew and friends rooting for him! <3

Ok I'm still not done with Guel: I don't reaaally trust the "person gets some PTSD and grows from it" rout he's on right now. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop; namely, when it will be revealed that someone knows he killed his dad. Argh.

Fruit ask game

🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.)

Oh, I have a bunch. Mostly just things I haven't seen much of and would love to write at some point—so this is kind of an idea dump.

For Arcane:

Melvika, hands down. I have so many WIP ideas I just haven't had the motivation to write yet, but I love the chemistry that could come with these two. They would be The power couple of the show. They make me insane.

General storyline-wise, I really like the what-could-have-been in a rocky surrogate-parent relationship with Silco and Vi, and I've started exploring that gradually in my 'scraps and doves' series.

I think Vi's direct parallel with Silco's ideologies as a child can sometimes get overlooked, and it's what makes the conflict of her character as Vander's daughter, the product of Vander's mistakes and triumphs, and the re-manifestation of Silco's betrayal so juicy. She is everything Vander was and isn't—everything Silco, at one time, stood for—and, eventually, becomes everything she (like Vander) had once stood against.

Toss Silco and Jinx's sewn-at-the-hip dysfunctional family mess in with that, and there's so much narrative potential. I have a lot of stories on this I'd still like to write.

For Ghost:

There's a lot of the...relatively nonexistent lore (lol) I'm still figuring out my thoughts on—especially the ghouls, which I've barely tapped into! But, generally, some things I'd like to read more of (and would eventually like to write):

- Secondo often having to occupy a father role with child Terzo and Copia, and detesting it; there's as many ridiculous/heartwarming scenarios that can come out of this as there are absolutely gutting ones, and I'd love to explore both

- Terzo's legacy creating a deep cultural shift in the Ministry, not only seeking to modernize the more archaic rituals of the church but to change the stigmas and superstitions towards ghouls' magic that Primo's (and previous reigns) had laid down — and this partly being the reason Sister/the clergy/someone?? had him forcefully removed

- Terzo in general having a darker underbelly than his stage presence suggests. Deeply guarded, self-sabotaging, craving love but snapping it at the neck at every chance; still a little boy that just needs to be held, seen, as much as he is a bitter, petty, at times monstrous man to be around. I'm finally starting to catch up on some stories that explore more of this side of him (I'm a painfully slow reader, these days), and it's delicious

- Copia's role in the church being fully orchestrated from day 1, and him in some ways knowing it, craving it, and resenting it in turns. I like to think he is Sister's prodigy in every way she can instill, whether he wants it or not — and though a part of him does, it has come at a steep cost he deeply regrets (and at times denies)

The Power Of Friendship (and D&D)

Well, you made it to act 3, and this is usually the part of the Shakespeare play where things start to get juicy. But here, I wanted to focus a little less on juicy things because in my story, I didn’t really change identities further, I just solidified my own. I always kept questioning sure, which is eventually how I became a demi-boy, but in this part of my tale I just found people I care about, and who care about me. It’s…THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!

But seriously, having a circle of people I could trust was probably the most important thing in my journey. It’s no wonder that I don’t really talk to my first college friend circle, I could only really trust two of them. Living with them was an experience for sure. Lots of fighting, and lots of blame games over dishes and cleanliness. I guess we were all getting back into society after being locked in a metaphoric dungeon for a year and a half, but it was bad. Speaking of dungeons, part of what made me really bond with my current friend group was Dungeons…and Dragons. The tabletop roleplaying game was part of the reason I could somewhat survive the pandemic and is responsible for bringing me even closer to my current friend group. It’s the same group from my professional fraternity. It started with my big Mox and then as more people joined our family grew. Friends became my safety net and my support circle, the people I could count on. When I went through rough patches they helped me survive. When I hurt my back and needed to go to urgent care, I asked Mox to drive because I didn’t have anyone else I could trust. It’s cliche but the power of friendship is real. Now more than ever with the idea of found families, friends can sometimes be more like family than an actual family. I am lucky that I love my immediate family but one of my close friends has all but abandoned their family, and they rely on their friends. Especially in friend groups that are not all cis-het like mine, we bond over our shared experiences and are able to bounce off each other’s chaos. It is how my high school friend group stayed together. We can share things with each other that we wouldn’t to other groups, not even people we’ve known our whole lives. Trust is so special because it’s hard to gain and so easily broken, and the best, closest friendships are built on trust. My friend for a documentary I made put it plainly, you aren’t going to please everyone, so it’s better to have one or two close friends you can share the dirtiest crap with who will listen and support you rather than a large group that will turn away when you need them most. I almost needed the pandemic to determine who my real friends are, and I am so glad I know who I care about and who cares about me. 

Throughout my junior year, I slowly was able to come out of my shell and while I played a character in a tabletop, I bonded with them every meeting. We discussed fandoms and musicals. Existentialism and the joys of Rutgers. Every moment I spent with them made me feel like I was able to really be myself. And D&D provided joy and lasting memories for months to come. But like many things, D&D needs to be unpacked. Character creation is one of the key parts of D&D but one of the many issues is something known as fantasy racism. Certain races are seen as monstrous such as orcs and goblins and these fantasy creatures create a sort of fantasy racism. One bit of lore from the D&D rule book discusses how half-orcs try and prove their worth among more “civilized races.” Similarly to that is the idea of elves, who are rich and light-skinned being superior to other races. Other tabletop games have been criticized for different issues. The Cyberpunk 2077 video game, based on the tabletop of the same name was criticized for fetishizing trans women by having them be on in-game posters with grossly enlarged penises. While the game is only based on the tabletop, the issue still persists. 

However, role-playing games have always been praised for their ability for players to make a character and  be anyone. Now characters can be any race and any gender, and many traditional fantasy tropes about race and gender can be eliminated. In terms of any role-playing game, it is important to understand how real-world issues bleed into the game and how sometimes it is important to draw boundaries of what should be included in fictional games. Now thanks to games set in the real world like Vampire: The Masquerade, there are sheets for lines and veils, things players want to only reference and not include. This allows a way to avoid games that feature issues such as racism, sexism, and religion. Overall, these games can be loved and appreciated, but also challenged to avoid negative stereotypes, and real world injustices bleeding into the game.

imogen, laudna, and romance: cr3e27 part 1

though i didn't write a meta for episode 26 i'm back to break down some of the juicy first-half tidbits from the most recent critical role episode!

dusk asks laudna out

now, there are a few things outside of the whole situation that we can factor into this discussion: a) that dusk will eventually double-cross the group and b) that erika ishii the icon has a critical role romance hit list.

let's talk about point a (which to be honest is more relevant). there's a finesse to dusk's choices that i just love. for one, the bumbling, clumsy, enthusiastic character choice was perfect. it's hard not to trust someone who seems so open with their flaws and with the things that they forget.

but what's even more brilliant is that dusk has actually gotten close with the group, and not just in a "you saved me, thank you!! :)" way. because even that doesn't earn trust. not in the way that being a confidante does, not in the way that showing concern over backstory lore and protecting fearne when she's about to get rat-squished does.

if you didn't know dusk was a traitor, you could easily be fooled by the intimacy of it all, of growing to care about people. and what other way to both earn trust and to gain leverage over someone by "falling in love" with them?

it's a vulnerable position, to ask someone out. if you were doubtful about dusk (which i suspect orym and chetney, or at least liam and travis, are starting to wonder about), it's hard to feel like the sweet, shy person asking you on a date will backstab you. but also, becoming romantically entangled is an awfully good way to get someone to do something that you want.

think about it: when imogen and laudna (not saying they're romantically involved) were fighting, laudna would have done anything imogen asked her to do. and dusk likely saw this and thought: here is someone, when she cares about people, is so vulnerable and so desperate to maintain her sense of stability in her relationships that she will do anything to fix it.

possibly, even in the face of betrayal. here is someone dusk could potentially have on their side, if laudna cares about them enough.

it's a wonderful strategic choice. and for erika, it's also a great way for them to stir the pot for the gays, even though they've already checked marisha off the list in spectacular fashion. if only imogen were more approachable...

romance brain

so, laudna's reaction. i think it was valid and heartbreaking and charming all at once. she was quite literally blindsided by dusk there, right before a conversation she had been dreading for days, so it's understandable that she wouldn't be able to really present an answer.

and that's something people don't talk about. you can get blindsided by people seeking relationships with you, but you don't owe anyone anything, especially if you're not ready.

but what i also found interesting was that laudna said: "i haven't accessed that part of my brain in 50 years" and imogen's response is "it would be strange to access that."

hello, headcanon that imogen is aromantic hehe

in all seriousness: i've been thinking lately about the expectations that have been placed on imodna since the beginning for a romantic relationship- but to me, neither of them are really built to intensely strive for that?

imogen has gone through so much with reading people's minds, hearing the awfulness of humanity, and being shunned for being who she is. the intimacy of romance, then, i feel like would feel really hard for her, because like she said about dates: "you're in their mind and you're hearing what you're doing wrong." and that's just it, isn't it?

it's hard to have a relationship (or even a friendship, as has been illustrated by her dynamics with everyone) when you know you can delve into their mind and just find out what's going on. it's hard to have a relationship when the very part that makes you you can be very off-putting and is something you always have to keep in check.

and she's heard the worst of the world, and every horrible part about romantic relationships. so perhaps i do headcanon that she's aromantic, because romance is hard and wouldn't it just make sense, if romance just doesn't click with her because she's familiar with intimacy both at its worst, and in the smallest, minute thoughts of the people around her? and to her, aren't the thoughts of friendship equally as gentle, and thoughtful, and beautiful as romance?

and then there's laudna, who is quite literally undead, and like she said, also hasn't accessed that part of her brain for 50 years, and that so much has been going on that she hasn't had time for that.

and i totally get that, too, when you're so focused on pushing forward and improving yourself and working towards better that you don't have time for romance, and the notion isn't that appealing.

that's not saying that i'll be at all upset if they do become canon (because let's be honest, the cast loves their party romances and who am i to protest amazing character moments and beautiful relationships), because i think that would also be beautiful in its own way, but i do think imogen and laudna at least won't be jumping into a relationship in the near future, for the reasons i talked about.

either way, i'm excited a) for the joy of a queer platonic relationship or b) a wonderfully delicious slow burn like you wouldn't believe.

the conversation was brilliantly played and wonderful in that it acknowledged everything that each of them had done wrong. i'm very glad that the first thing, really, imogen apologizes for was not checking in on laudna after she was controlled by delilah. she acknowledges how terrible that would have been and how scary it was and i think that is really the most important aspect of this argument to have been covered.

because, as people have pointed out in my asks (which i accidentally deleted, so sorry to that user) laudna was compromised and taken advantage of for someone else's own gain, and when she needed a friend, imogen wasn't there for her.

luckily, it seems like imogen is very aware of that fact. and i suspect that she will make every effort to be there every step of the delilah journey from here on out.

but laudna also acknowledged what imogen had been through: that breaking the rock was wrong, even if it wasn't technically her fault, and that imogen had gone through a dream alone.

i'm also glad they talked without fcg, because ultimately, it gave each of them (laudna, imogen, and fcg) the chance to get what they needed out of the conversations of that night, without feeling like they had to put on a performance for someone else, or pretend that fcg's style of therapy was working for them when in the end, it ended up being so simple.

laudna and imogen, just them, the way that everything started. and i think that's beautiful.

Bayonetta MC + Main 4 LI of Last Legacy. Sorry, I couldn't help but just simp for her in gameplays I've just binged this weekend. Had to make a version of the starsworn reaction to having a version of her in their world.

Eloquence. Grace. Heavenly loveliness. The main four are already whipped for regular MC but imagine a world with an MC like Bayonetta. Jaws dropped to the floor. Wide-eyed pedestrians look respectfully before they get dropped kicked. (I mean I wouldn't mind it...😳 I'm mean Ixm straight, but for her I'll be anything). MC strutting down Porrima's street walkway with a lengthy silky glittery gown flashing their chest and ankles. Wearing a big hat with a feather flittering about snatching attention from their long shawl. Thickness 100%. Ankle bracelet dangling with black & white/ color tattoos riding up from their foot to their juicy thigh. Glossy lips with dimples for days. And nails filed to a tee. Angles and demons getting their butts whooped by the main four's one and only soulmate. With extremely dramatic effects to add to the secy poses.

Doesn't know where to stare at when speaking directly to you. Titties bounce, bounce. Got the kaboost in the wagon. 

Heart stops when you blow him a kiss. All the while having your thighs wrapped around a skeleingtons dome to crush within a second instance, still spinning around shooting at any threat to come between the two of you lovestrucks. 

Doesn't know where to begin to address the current genocide you've committed. Will want to most definitely test your power and skill set to obtain a higher knowledge in summoning. 

Never will force you to remember your past or if you do remember to tell him right there on the spot. He wants you to feel safe in his presence unlike anywhere you go. You mention Rodin, Cheshire, Enzo, or anyone off the top of your head he will be confused but would want to meet these people that assisted you. And to comprehend the ability to deal with the constant fighting you deal with daily. Plus, love's lore of the three realms in your world.

Mother knight, in her experience in bringing morality and faith for her self-justice in her line of work. This was the last thing she expected to be exposed to on the front lines. 

Downright bad for your decisive action with gratitude of your endurance in battle. Passes out when she sees you naked….oh you summoned your armor/ suit. Your hair just ate someone. Is that a tattoo on your back? Is full of endless curiosity. Hair poofed to the point you tug on it and kiss her nose. She stiffens when she notice's you coming her way. Like a statue.

Will hesitate to ask of your life before being summoned. If you don't remember she will understand the situation and inquire you to talk about what you know already and enjoy to do. Like shopping she could do that easily with you. Carry her. I mean the bags!! Please, carry the bags! 

Guns from Rodin excite her. Can't get enough. Will want to know the difference between the the two clans. Reminds her of her own life. 

Wait!! Your walking to fast ahead in heels. Are those guns for heels?! She almost falls into a bush trying to catch up.

Doggie goes wolf, wolf. Cat man will non-stop purr at your glorious figure that's pressed up against him when training with him. 

He completely understands your situation of being hunted as a criminal. He has his own infamous wanted posters. More on guard for his sake more than yours.

Before he hated you for stealing his relic and lover. For thinking you where better than him. Boy did he love to be right. After siding with you and learning of your past experience can NOT help but respect you little by little. 

Feels like an ass for trying to kill you. He did once but you let him have that for your loss of memory. You forgave right after you two had a wicked battle to the death. (Jk. You just talked to him like a normal person. As normal as you two can get.) 

Calls you nicknames to suit your style. Will want to wear your gun heels while spinning his spear to look as badass as you are everyday. Such a show-off he calls you. Will practice acrobatics to keep up with you.

Sexy dance, strut, poses. The whole nine yards of seeing who is the bottom. He is...I mean it went undecided. It's a tie your honor. Gets carried away when fighting you to the point you both drop to your knees with blood and sweat masking your blush expressions. 

Willing to help you remember you awaken the right eye. Will also want a new weapon from Rodin….something tells me a chain with daggers at the end of them. Whip. Spear that turns into two swords. No, this is not for the bedroom.

Found it VERY interesting only in the extended script they gave us examples of what’s discussed below because...hmmmmm...this kinda sounds like pretty juicy bits of lore, right?

Radiant Dawn P3C14E - Extended

Ike: “Have you heard anything from Prince Kurthnaga yet?”

Ena: “Yes, I just received a message…”

Ike: “Don’t tell me…No luck, right?”

Ena: “It is far worse than that. Prince Kurthnaga has decided to fight for Daein.” (Lehran has now successfully tricked each Dragon royal sibling into sticking around Daein- consciously or not)

Ike: “What?! Why? He was supposed to stop them from fighting! And now he wants to fight us instead?! Oh great, what are the dragons of Goldoa thinking?!”

Ena: “These turn of events…are not what my country wish for. It is Prince Kurth’s own wish to fight. King Dheginsea knows nothing of this visit…And of course, Prince Kurth has a good reason to side with Daein, but…I’m afraid I cannot tell you why.”

Ike: “Wonderful….”

Ena: “I will try to reason with Prince Kurth again. For a prince of the dragon tribe to stand on a battlefield…It is unacceptable. I must talk him out of it.” (Uh oh x2)

Ike: “…Wait, are you talking to him with that stone?”

Ena: “Yes. We dragons have the power to sense the presence of our own kind. In particular, if we share blood ties with someone…or care for them very much, we can know their condition…as well as understand their thoughts, even across extreme distances.”

Ike: “When Nasir felt your presence at Crimea…and when Reyson could sense Leanne’s presence, it was because of this ability?”

Ena: “That’s right. The heron clan…possess that same ability. With the sending stone, we can increase the natural strength of this ability, so that no matter how far apart we are, we can communicate using telepathy.”

Ike: “That’s one impressive stone.” (Right? Grab some before leaving.)

DURING BATTLE

Kurthnaga: “My body feels like it’s on fire…I can hardly breathe! So, this is what war feels like…No, please, don’t come near me…I don’t want to hurt anyone!”

Ike: “Prince Kurthnaga!”

Kurthnaga: “It’s so hot… I’m burning up! My body, it’s on fire!”

Ike: “Can you hear me? I guess not. Kurth, what’s happening to you?”

Kurthnaga: “I don’t want to fight…I…I don’t want to take any more lives…”

Kurthnaga: “Don’t come near me! I can barely…I don’t want to do this! Get away!” (All this is distinctly Kurthnaga trying to CONTROL himself, if you ask me. I think if Herons are of Order then Dragons are of Chaos. That would explain...so much...lmao)

Ah, the pieces are coming together. Kurthnaga on the battlefield in this chapter is a COMPLETE mess...the energies of battle prove to be too much for him. He secludes himself in a tent afterwards but still isn’t able to knock himself out of it until Ike gets him to open up rather than repress...cough...cough cough...

Now check out this conversation between Micaiah and Soren which takes place in the exact chapter before the explanation about similarities in Herons and Dragons. And it’s easily missable if you don’t save a Purge Tome to attack Soren from afar.

Soren: “That last battle, in the valley. Was that your strategy?”

Micaiah: “...”

Soren: “That was impressive. You killed thousands of beorc soldiers with your little ambush. Well done.” (ADF:KFLADSKFL:ASDFKDS)

Micaiah: “I...”

Soren: “The Maiden of Dawn...What are you? One of the Branded, that's for sure. But there is something else about you...Power. Yes, I can feel it in you. You possess great power.”

Micaiah: “Yes, and you would know. There's something very different about you, too. Your energy feels so...ancient. You and I seem to have so much in common.”

Soren: “That doesn't matter in the slightest. The only thing that does matter is that you are a dangerous adversary. You are also in Ike's path, so it falls to me to remove you. It's almost a shame. Farewell, Maiden of Dawn.”

Micaiah: “So, you fight for someone, as well. So very much alike...But I will defeat you. I will protect the ones I love!

Very curious what similarities- as well as differences as one is more closer to Order and the other Chaos- between the two tribes might mean for Soren, personally. We know what powers Micaiah has and we know what powers the Heron clan has. The issue would be figuring out how this translates over to the Dragon tribe. We’ve seen Soren sense things other people can’t but...it makes you wonder what sense(s) he’s using, y’know? We know he has incredible spatial awareness to the point he literally starts doing recon by himself because he knows the job will be done best by him and no one else. But what else is possible with what we’re given? IDK have fun with this information.

I think the only thing I didn’t like was that the map was hard to navigate. There wasn’t much making the areas distinct enough imo. By my most recent playthrough I could get around easily enough. Also, the easiest SASO I think ever maybe??? But the challenges were pretty cool overall. 

Sadly my game kept crashing every time I dug up the sabre for the pirate challenge, so I had to bring my own pirate outfit and sabre from home. 

Also thought it was strange that there were no mission stories/opportunities, because some challenges were set up as if they were e.g. A Kill to Treasure and Another For Good Measure. But it was fun to figure stuff out myself.

Overall this mission lifted out of the narrative easily, so I can see why it wasn’t needed for main game. Giving everyone something to do between Vermont and Isle of Sgail made a lot of sense, so glad they placed it there. Was hoping for more juicy lore, but honestly obsessed with Diana saying “good morning, 47” when he walks in so obviously Diana and Grey were up early making revolutionary plans together while 47 was still in bed.
