Hotch HCs!

I think he’s such an insomniac normally. His mind just feels with thoughts of foyet/unsubs and home invasions and everything scary he has to face at work. He just can’t relax long enough for sleep to overtake him.

BUT. If you lay your head on his chest, the pressure on him it like a snooze button. He can’t help but fall asleep in minutes. Your warmth in his arms. He can’t quite explain it, but he just CRASHES when your body is on his :)

i feel like when he's on case, he's able to sleep (if he really has to). like, he stays up during cases anyway - there's too much for him to do and his mind never quiets enough for him to even think about getting some rest - but if he really needs to sleep, he's able to pass out in seconds. the team and the victims need him at his best, meaning he's able to compartmentalise everything and fall into a (usually very restless) sleep.

but when he's not on a case, he can't do that. there's nothing for him to focus on, no team to lead, no people to think about other than himself, and all the thoughts and feelings he's constantly running from hit him at full force. it takes him hours to sleep, if he does at all. he finds himself unable to relax - he's constantly getting up to look in on jack, he's double and triple checking the locks on the doors, he's making sure his gun is always within reaching distance. once it gets to a specific time, he gives up and nurses a coffee until it's time to get ready and take jack to school or head to work himself.

but when you stumble into his life, quickly making him the happiest he's felt in a while, he finds that sleep comes easier. even in the first few weeks or months of knowing you, when you haven't even spent the night at his, he finds himself drifting off easier at just the thought of getting to spend more time with you the next day.

the first time you spend the night with him at his apartment, you rest your head on his chest as you slowly trail your fingers over his warm skin. you feel his voice rumble against you as he speaks, the two of you talking about whatever comes to mind, before he abruptly goes completely lax beneath you, silent. you glance up to see him completely knocked out, looking incredibly peaceful and at ease. when he wakes up after a full eight hours, he's never felt so rested in his life.

after that moment, he's inviting you around as much as possible. he loves having you in his space, in his arms, in his life. there's nowhere he'd rather be than with you. he wants to make you laugh and smile for the rest of his life. the fact he can finally sleep when you're around is just a plus.

ok prompt: syndey really wants a michelin star but carmy is uninterested in obtaining one. Richie (after Forks) realizes that he ALSO wants the restaurant to get a star and puts everything into making front of house Star-worthy while Sydney is doing everything by herself in the kitchen. eventually they get a star but carmy is not a big enough asshole to accept it for the restaurant when he knows sydrichie did all the work. he pays for them to get all dressed up and sends them to the award ceremony (not sure if this is a real thing lol) to accept the Star and at some point in this whole process they fall in love/lust. Inspired by this pic LOL

i love love love this idea. did some research and i don’t think there’s any type of award ceremony for michelin winners :(

however. what if they get a star and everyone goes out to a fancy dinner to celebrate and syd and richie and carmy and sugar end up being the last ones there. and they’re talking about the restaurant and making plans and after a while sugar gets tired and carmy takes her home. and syd and richie just stay and talk and drink wine and he’s wearing a new suit and she’s wearing a dress and he’s never seen her dressed up before and she looks so beautiful.

and they stay until the restaurant closes and then go to a bar and take tequila shots and he fucks her in the bathroom

Seventeen sighs through gritted teeth. Not a single one of their squad would ever call Seven-seven chatty, no matter how he chose to talk. But he seems to be particularly recalcitrant right now, just when Seventeen needs—

Wants. Wants him not to be.

His fists loosen in Fordo’s jacket. Civvies. Disgusting. Leaving their armour behind was a wrench that nearly crossed the line. Blending into an Empire that’s out for their heads is just the salt in the wound.

Fordo’s own hands in Seventeen’s shirt don’t shift an inch. He follows Seventeen’s gaze with his whole head, chasing his attention, as if he’s not the one being a tight-lipped bastard right now.

So cryptic. So mightier-than-thou. Whatever he’s keeping to himself has been hanging around since before they were first deployed, and it’s finally grated Seventeen down to the bone.

“The hunters,” he segues, defeated. He has a feeling he’s not going to win today, either. There’s no point in pushing duracrete walls with his bare hands. “Nar Shadda, was it? Hutt Space.” He laughs mirthlessly. “Of course they’d makes us chase them there.”

Seventeen picks his head up to face Fordo again, but Fordo doesn’t move this time. Seventeen’s mouth catches his jaw, skates up his cheek, then back when he jerks in surprise. Fordo watches him. Breath hot, damp. Eyes glittering under low, cyber-blue light.

Seventeen’s lower lip had been there, at his mouth. Just past the corner of his lips.

Fordo isn’t being cryptic now. His expression is totally open. Wary, and waiting, but openly. Seventeen can barely trust that he’s reading him right, but—

Nausea vaults in his throat when Seventeen tilts his head again, purposefully, and suddenly everything stops.

Their ship is floating in orbit, atmo turning below them, scanners whirring and beeping like clockwork at the console, sublight engines turning over below their feet and above their heads.

Fordo’s back hits the bulkhead with a slam and his hands are around Seventeen’s neck, Seventeen’s mouth on his and insistent—pressing—desperately he pushes back. Their breathing runs harsh, the both of them, loud and hissing through noses and in gasps between their lips when they part with wet noises. Fordo doesn’t let him go anywhere and Seventeen isn’t sure he would if he could. It’s Fordo’s mouth again and again and again and again, teeth in his lip and on his tongue, lashes curling over cheeks and screwed up brows and cramping, clutching fingers.

Seventeen closes his eyes. Words lodge themselves in his throat; he swallows them down, kisses Seven-seven like a lifeline, and doesn’t speak.

Okay but like, my standards for myself are insanely high, and none of my fics meet them. The problem is, I want a 7000 word, basically award winning fic done in the same time it takes for me to make the bad-mediocre ~1500 word fics. My brain sees that I didn't meet my goal(probably never will tbh), and deems everything I do as a failure and 'bad'. Good to you is trash to me, and I'm trying to get better at it, as well as stop complaining about my writing in the A/N's as much because ik y'all hate it lmao.

Rin I read your post about you seeing your writing and lemme tell you something as someone who paints as a hobby:

It is normal to see flaws in our works and it is a sign that we are evolving and becoming better as artists, as we see a thing that maybe we would do different or would take a different approach now! But of course, we cannot just change and become the greatest artist within a second and be 100% satisfied with every tiny detail of our work (and that IS NORMAL!!! we are humans and not machines and have days or longer periods of time where we feel a block or that something is slightly off) as we need time and practice to be content with our work. Do not forget that we, your readers, really love your work and even the shortest, tiniest story that might've been "less good" for you is for a lot of us wonderful, makes us smile or genuinely brings us comfort! So to sum it all up: worry not, and trust the process of your skill, we believe in you🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
