TW: minor, potential assault
Hey Star!
I'm glad I was doing a quick scroll when I saw your reply. In advance, thank you!
Like I said before, don't feel like you have to respond to this but I needed an outside opinion about an event that happened in the past (over 10 years ago so it's been a while).
To put it simply, when a friend of mine was a minor (around 10 years old), a family friend (he was in his teens) took her into a locked room and essentially got her to undo her clothes fastenings (so buttons, etc.) and lay down under the pretense of a game. They then kinda stood over her (her memories here at this point were very vague so she couldn't/didn't want to mention them) but she said someone had interrupted by knocking on the door. She doesn't know if it would've gone further.
As I mentioned, the memory is vague because she'd forgotten it until recently because she got herself into counselling (for things unrelated) and her first session just opened a can of worms. She mentioned the situation to me because she wasn't sure if it would classify as assault or not, especially because it didn't escalate, and she wasn't sure if it was worth bringing up in her sessions. She doesn't really care for reporting it because it was so long ago and she doesn't have full confidence in her memory of it but the thing that's bugging her is not knowing whether it'd be labelled as assault or not because it "feels like a grey area". I'm worried I might be too biased since I'm very close to her so I thought it might be better to get the take of someone removed from the situation though I did recommend mentioning it in counselling when she feels ready.
She has given permission for me to ask about it here so don't worry but if you also feel uncomfortable posting this on your page (highly understandable) but want to offer insight or want to say you've seen it, feel free to leave it as a comment under the previous ask post (where I asked if it would be okay). Don't feel obliged to reply whatsoever, please.
Even if you choose not to acknowledge or reply to this, I appreciate that you let me type this out.
Thanks Star and sorry for unloading this onto you.

Hi my lovely 🫶 I’m so sorry for the late response to this ! It’s been a super hectic week and I’m trying to keep my head above water here.
First off- I am so so sorry to hear that this has resurfaced for your friend. I’m so sorry this happened to her in the first place. It’s really brave of her to be upfront with the situation and to be able to acknowledge it for the seriousness it holds, and to reach out for help when she knows she’s in need of it. I’m glad she’s able to confide in you, and I’m so honored you’ve confided in me with this heavy topic. It means a lot that you have this level of trust ❤️
Second off- what happened to your friend is absolutely assault. Even if it didn’t go any further, it was absolutely unwanted contact of a sexual nature that your friend didn’t consent to, and she certainly wasn’t old enough to even able to understand the gravity of the situation. Assault can take so many different forms and they’re all equally as serious and should be treated as such. My suggestion is to reach out to a trusted family member who knows him and might be able to either question him or report it as needed. You can even make it an anonymous report or request that her identity isn’t revealed when the case is brought up to him. People who display that kind of behavior will do it again, and again, and as long as they don’t get caught or feel that what they’re doing is a “gray area”, the cycle will continue. I think other children are at risk around this person if this hasn’t been dealt with already.
Make sure she has a good support system and an outlet she’s able to confide in (like yourself- she’s really lucky to have you!) and even though it’s difficult, reporting it or at least making someone aware of it will be beneficial in the long run.
Sending all my love to you both- please remember that I’m always here if you need anything (also reached by discord if it’s more urgent!) and I understand how tough this whole situation is. I want you to do what’s best for you both, but also remember that you shouldn’t be forced into anything by pressure, and that even if it doesn’t “go all the way”, anything unwarranted and physical is still assault.
All my love. Your friend is very strong and I’m rooting for her ❤️🫶

Hi Belle!!! How are you? i hope you're okay, i'm really happy when i see your posts, and every time i wonder how are you. I've just noticed you don't put tags anymore, maybe it's nothing but i just feel a little worried about it. Obviously this is not me asking you to write something or me complaining, not at all <3 i just want to let you know that i think about you and that i hope you're doing ok
Hi anon!!
It means a lot that you asked 💕💕 but rest assured I’m doing good
In all honesty I’m not feeling tumblr as much lately, but in a weird way I also miss it?
I think part of it is the new job I started in April, I’m liking it a lot but is a little bit more tiring. I also used to come into tumblr during work hours a LOT, like, I use to work in places where I was basically alone and could do my daily chores super fast, so in the moments where I had no customer I could be on tumblr all I want, I created sets at home, but the whole part of going through tag pages, reblogging and interacting was 90% done while I was at work; On this new job I work on a team so I’m never alone (they are all great people and I have lots of fun, so is in no way a problem) and can’t access the site
I guess Im having some difficulty finding the place out of work to blog, because I’m normally tried and just want to scroll on tiktok, or watch a series, or read something… things I have always done in my time off while tumblr was something, as fun as it sounds, for work hours
Still I miss being in here a lot, but since I don’t enter everyday the tags get flooded and I get overwhelmed. I figured when I have the time I can at least queue posts that I see and that are on my personal tag cause is better that they see the light of day without tags than actually being hidden in my likes waiting for me to find the energy some magical day
I want to organize myself better, not for feeling obligated to do so, but because I genuinely miss it, but o truly isn’t know when that’s going to be
I guess this is way more than you expected, I’m sorry I was so lengthy with my reply ahha But I’ve been wondering myself why is it that I can’t act as usual here and I guess that’s my take on it…
Again, it means a lot that you noticed and asked 💕
Is nothing bad, just time management hahah

@duel1971 sounded off in the replies so here we go~
Keep Watching The Skies!: American Science Fiction Movies of The Fifties has been an invaluable resource for me since late 2018 when I got back into this era of the genre, though I only just now got a physical copy of the two volume set. It's pretty exhaustive but its concept of what a "1950's" "American" film is a bit loose. Films that were produced in the 1950's but didn't come out until the 1960's are included, as are American edits of previously foreign films, which, okay, but it stretches the limits when including the 1962 release of Mothra (1961).
Trying to "figure out" Jack Cole lead to me to picking up Forms Stretched To Their Limits, a published adaptation of an article by Art Spiegelman for The New Yorker with layouts by Chip Kidd (truly...Spiegelman's finest work (sarcasm)). Where "critical study" and "celebration" and "photo book" and "reprint collection" begin and end is completely arbitrary with Forms, making it a bit hard to discuss or recommend. I will say that I was under the impression that Spiegelman didn't like superheroes so him writing a book about Plastic Man mostly was a surprise to me. Probably the most interesting thing is when reprinting full stories it switches from glossy magazine stock paper to newsprint, nice touch.
Kidd also did Shazam: The Golden Age of The World's Mightiest Mortal, which as far as I can tell is the only book that DC released to celebrate or promote Shazam (2019). It's mostly a huge photo reference book of merchandising and memorabilia surrounding Captain Marvel, which is a subject that had mostly been lost to time. Carmine Infantino had mention that comics companies have historically made the majority of their profits off of licensing rather than actual comics and yeah I can see it with all the stuff on display here.
Continuing with Cole, I also picked up some volumes of Yoe Books' Chilling Archives of Horror Comics, his and Dick Briefer's Frankenstein. Cole's volume is pretty exhaustive, collecting all of his horror comics from Web of Evil, which, he can draw some pretty disgusting caricatures ill say that at least. Briefer's volume is more of a highlight reel than anything with how thin it is, so the quest to read more of his Frankenstein shall continue...elsewhere...
I don't know what I was on a kick with 1950's horror comics but I've already mentioned Four Color Fear and The Horror! The Horror! here on Tumblr, both essential collections of material that wasn't published by EC, which gets all the attention with this genre in this decade.
Art Out of Time is one I was super excited about and it didn't disappoint, showcasing a ton of artists in comic strips and comics proper that did their job unconventionally. Some of the talent on display here (Dick Briefer, Fletcher Hanks, Ogden Whitney, etc.) aren't as "unknown" as they were in 2006 but plenty here still are; probably my favorite discovery so far is Gustave Verbeek and his comic strips that at first glance look like knockoff Winsor McCay stuff but reveal their oddities on closer inspection.
Finally we've got some Kirby and Ditko studies. Hand of Fire I'm not sure what I'm getting into yet, I just know Charles Hatfield sent out a public invite for anyone who wanted to contribute critical analysis of Kirby's work for a future book and my Devil Dinosaur proposal was rejected (the wounds are still fresh). I'm familiar with Chris Tolworthy's investigative work surrounding Kirby online so I was curious about The Lost Jack Kirby Stories; befitting a self-published work with little oversight, right now I'd say it's 50% legitimate uncovering and 50% conspiratorial nonsense that is just giving ammo to Lee sympathizers, but I digress. Mysterious Travellers is a political analysis of Ditko's entire body of work, I entirely grabbed it because I feel an obligation to grab all the stuff about Ditko published posthumously, of which we've totalled...three books in total now? Including Working With Ditko, discussing Ditko's overlooked time spent at DC in the 1970's.
Someone ask me about books I've recently gotten plz.

Hi emi!! So sorry to ask this but did tumblr ate my ask again? :(( I sent you an ask in the past (when you gave me a compliment, I replied and once again thank you so much it made my day <3) and well it's okay! I understand!! and you were not feeling good that time so I was hoping it made your day somehow!! I had also sent an ask earlier, just a small enji thirst!! I'm not forcing you to answer my asks!! I'm okay with you reading my asks and hoping they made your day! Just double checking if you had gotten them! Please know you're not obliged to always reply to my asks!! I'm very thankful for your time reading them!! I'm sorry for being redundant, I just don't want to seem rude! >< (im too shy and awkward to send you a private message 🙈)
Hope you have a wonderful day ahead <3
-☁
Dont be sorry about anything lovely! I have gotten your asks! (I just answered one actually hehe) but thank you for checking in because my ask box does get wonky sometimes and asks get eaten by the tumblr demon! Ive also just been super duper busy lately and havent gotten on as much 😅
Also im one of the most cringe people i know so nothing to be shy about lol if you ever want to send me a message please do!
Onto the game questions!
I really like french toast or waffles! I really need a waffle maker OH and greek yogurt and berries 🤤 Orange juice or Lemonade is what I usually have to drink in the morning, Im really not a huge coffee/tea person
HORROR! I live for a good horror book. I've read some pretty intense dark reads over the last couple of years and I have a whole To Be Read list (I need to get a new bookshelf first thought lol) but im also really into dystopian/sci-fi! I havent found very many fantasy genre books that have kept my attention though
I already have a tiger tattoo on my upper left arm that ive had since middle school (Yes my mom let me get a tattoo at 14, thankfully I didn't pick something stupid) but I really want some sort of minimalist anime tattoo, Ive got like a whole pintrest board of tattoo ideas! I think I'd stay on my arms and maybe upper back/shoulders (only because i've got scars all over my legs and it would hurt super bad to tattoo)
thank you for the ask lovely! this was fun! 💕

Happy almost Hump day all!! Here's a (humpback) whale to celebrate! Animal anon has to go away for the next two weeks because she has a BIG multiple day test in exactly 2 weeks that she is super super nervous for! So she will be logging off starting tomorrow until then! Since I have been very nervous, I want to know what is one thing that helps you when your nervous or anxious about a big event? It's been such an anxious year, I think we could all benefit by sharing our coping mechanisms with each other! I'll start, one thing I've been doing to help me be less nervous is get 8 hours of sleep. Because I am useless with no sleep. So tell me, what's a coping mechanism that you have that helps you? And don't forget to tag animal anon so I can see all your wonderful and inspiring replies! 💕💕💕💕💕
Also, I'm trying a new thing! If you know of someone whose never received an animal anon, who would love one, tag them and I'll head over their way! There are so many amazing people in this fandom and I want go reach as a many as possible!

my biggest coping mechanism is making sure i'm prepared mostly. sometimes i take that too far and i become a little ~neurotic~ but it's fine. other than that i just. play my silly little game on my silly little laptop <3 no thoughts no fears just my silly little gacha game
i asked my friends whether they receive/want your animal anons and my buddies tumblr users iknowdefeat, on-corneliastreet, onlyslytherinqueen, regardstosoulandromance and dorotheeeaa would love to hear from you sometime. also it's really considerate of you to ask about more people you can reach out to but i hope you take it easy and don't start seeing this as an obligation!!! this community adores you and we'd much rather see you take a step back if necessary than see you burn out<3
