@familylightfox asked: Harmony couldn't quite get up to greet Sonic when he came to see the kittens. They were all still using her as a comfy spot to lay, but they were nothing if not curious about a new scent. Once they moved, so too did the teen and she carefully, with the help of mama, moved all the kittens but the curious orange one back into their luxurious cat bed. Now the hero would be able to have all the time he wanted to get to know the kitten without being disturbed by the others. While she didn't say it, it was easy to see the emerald eyes hopeful that everything was going to go well.

"Hey~!"

That hopefulness would be reflected in Sonic's eyes as well when he arrived, along with excitement. With Boomer trotting along at his side, her raised tail showed that she was happy to be here too. Moments like this made Sonic all the more grateful for his ability to communicate with feral animals. Boomer knew exactly what was going on and she was all about it.

The site of all those kittens piled on Harmony was adorable, and if given the chance Sonic would snap a photo before they all went back to their bed. Save for the orange one, who seemed to be just as curious about them as they were about him. Boomer stayed back long enough to let Sonic greet the kitten first, not wanting to overwhelm him, and took that moment to butt her head against Harmony's leg instead.

"Hi there, lil' guy," Sonic spoke softly as he knelt down to offer a hand to the kitten, grinning ear to ear at how adorable he was. If allowed, he'd be given him all the pets and scritches he could want, and after a few moments lifted his gaze to Harmony.

"He's totally adorable! And so big! I love him," he told her with a wagging tail, but after a moment he suddenly looked a bit sheepish, pink dusting his muzzle just a little. "Do ya think... Shadow will like him? I was actually plannin' to give him to Shadow as a gift, since he loves cats and I think he could use a lil' buddy. He'd still live with me though, since Shadow's really not home enough to take care of a kitten on his own."

The moment they walked into Volt's bedroom Sonic felt immediately a little more at ease, and even more so once that window was shut. The warm light of the lamp was comforting too, but it all paled in comparison to how soothing it felt just to have his hands in Volt's, with the hybrid's thumbs rubbing circles against the back of them. It stole Sonic's focus for a few moments, but that may have been a good thing as it allowed him to straighten out his mind a little.

He leaned into the hand cupping his cheek, shutting his eyes at first, but opening them again to meet with Volt's and catch that smile. It sparked a glimmer of warmth in his chest, just enough to tug at the corners of his own lips for a moment. "Thanks, Volt..."

Slowly, however, the smile faded into something that was almost less of an expression and more of him just looking... tired, and peridots drifted downwards. Logically, Sonic knew there was no chance of Infinite finding him here, even if he was alive. Yet his grip on Volt's hands still tightened. "But... it's more of an issue of what he's already done."

With reluctance he took his hands from his friend's, so that he could unzip his jacket and take it off, followed by his shirt, revealing the somewhat strange looking brace-like thing he was wearing around his lower torso. A few tiny glowing lights on the front of it switched off as Sonic began undoing the fasteners that kept it wrapped tightly around him.

The expression or lack-there-of on his face hardly changed, but the hedgehog did shiver as the brace was removed. Now his brows furrowed, ears twisting back slightly. A moment of hesitation, and a deep breath, and Sonic turned around. Showing Volt the four long, very deep, scars that ran diagonally down his back.

"I... tried to tell you before. But I..." Once again, words failed him. What excuse was there? Other than being weak... He decided to skip to the next part. "I've had two surgeries on them, not countin' the rush job Eggman did when it happened."

It was easy for Volt to realize that the emotions in the room had shifted. How could he not when he could literally hear it in his friend’s voice. Brows creased as he tilted his head and tried to make sure that their eyes continued to meet. Although quite a bit of his own expression changed at the mention of that name. Despite having ended that maniac in the world they were in, that one name was more than capable of drawing a low growl.

Thankfully he was able to choke it back quickly enough that he could listen to Sonic continue talking. Violet eyes moved to the shaking hands and he quickly took them with his own and nodded at the request. “Sure.”

He got to his feet and kept a light hold on his friend’s hands as he moved over to his bedroom. The room was mostly dark due to the time of night and Volt led them over to sit on the bed before he turned on the lamp on the bedside. It cast the room in a warm glow and he went over to close the window that he usually left open for another layer of privacy before returning to Sonic’s side and taking his hands again.

Mismatched thumbs rubbed small circles in a small attempt to make things easier to talk about.

“Take your time Blue… Breathe.” Volt stayed calm and kept his voice calm as well. There was no need to rush as they had already agreed that Sonic was going to be spending the night, if not a few more than that. But he did want to make one thing abundantly clear.

“You’re safe here.” Taking back one hand, it was used to cup Sonic’s cheek and draw his gaze up so their eyes could meet. He offered a small smile. “Sternenberg is safe and that bastard will never touch you again. I promise. Especially not while you’re here.”

Tunable nonlinear Hall effect observed at room temperature in tellurium

A research team has discovered significant nonlinear Hall and wireless rectification effects at room temperature in elemental semiconductor tellurium (Te). Their research is published in Nature Communications. Nonlinear Hall effect (NLHE) is a second-order response to an applied alternating current (AC), which can generate second-harmonic signals without introducing an external magnetic field. NLHE is of considerable scientific interest due to its potential applications in frequency-doubling and rectifying devices. However, previous studies have faced challenges such as low hall voltage outputs and low working temperatures, hindering practical applications of NLHE. Currently, NLHE at room temperature has only been observed in Dirac semimetal BaMnSb2 and the Weyl semimetal TaIrTe4, both of which exhibit relatively small voltage outputs and lack tunability.

LITTLEBURY GREEN “EGG OF LIFE" CROP CIRCLE

On July 12, 1996, at Littlebury Green, Essex, U.K., an amazing floral-like glyph, composed of seven circles and three standing central crescents, appeared beneath high-voltage wires. The pattern was recognized as a symbol from sacred geometry and christened the Egg of Life. Sacred geometry is the embodiment of harmonic waves of energy, melody, and universal proportions. The Egg of Life combines the harmonics of music with the electromagnetic spectrum, a pattern that underlies all life. The pure forms and vital equilibriums of sacred geometry also reflect the awareness of spiritual wholeness. The earliest known users of sacred geometry were the Egyptians.

This circle, one of the finest to appear in Essex, revived some media interest in the crop-circle phenomenon, which had been previously damaged by hoaxers' claims and a lack of governmental interest. 479 – Gentle Spirit Archetype

479 - This is the sort of sprite or fairy like tritype. There is a need to remain positive while still searching for meaning. The blindspot is that there is an attraction to magical thinking and missed opportunities to speak their truth so they find themselves glossing over negative feeling states in favor of something more comfortable or positive. When 4 is in charge there's a tendency to not see all the ways in which depression or sadness is evaded through this magical thinking process.

the life mission is that this is the true healer archetype. They are often found doing bodywork or other healing practices as these are the 3 types that have a desire to transform. They like to inspire people toward happiness through expressing their creativity in a peaceful non-intrusive way.

She said this is the most lyrical type, a sort of ethereal archetype (so is the 459 but it is a more withdrawn ethereal quality, almost wispy and ghost like) whereas the energy here is lighter and more impish or I think when it's a male energy you get a strong trickster archetype (like dfgray). Playful yet meaningful. Very idealistic (although not quite as idealistic as the 471) but still concerned with maintaining positivity and feelings of being up.

She said this is the gentle soul tritype that has a healing presence on others whether or not they intend to so when she says healer this is what she means as opposed to being vocationally attracted to the healing arts (although this is very common with this tritype).

you are very identified with the defense of optimism and tend to hid your more painful feelings and pessimism for fear of being rejected. you see the wonder in beauty and are gentle, lyrical, and idealistic in the way you relate to others. you are attracted to the healing profession or arts.

your life mission is to identify what is truly meaningful in life and help people transform negative feeling into positive change. a true gentle spirit, you feel happiest when you have creative expression to reconnect with your innermost self and facilitate change.

your blind spot is that you can be so focused on ideal circumstances that you become trapped in magical thinking and fail to speak your higher truth and act in accordance with your true feelings.

your growing edge is to speak your truth even if it will create conflict with others. going along to get along or to keep things light and upbeat denies the truth of the moment and can cause you to become distant from yourself. higher love has a voice and true joy is not dependent on the image of being happy.

This tritype [927] is the most identified with seeing themselves as peaceful. More than any other tritype, they need peace and positive relating to experience a sense of being... so are extremely uncomfortable with negativity in relationships. The 479 doesn't like it but expects it.

4 and 7 together combine to create a sense of the creative, intuitive, magical and imaginative. The gut type determines the flavor. 479s are elegant, wispy and ethereal. When 4 is dominant the 4 is reluctant to show their edgy, more negative emotions. The emphasis is on having an image that is deep but not seen as difficult. Suffering is more private.

The 749 is the 7 that is the most elusive, liquid and fluid. They are positive in a gentle way with a touch of sadness. They are identified with being deep but still future oriented and forward moving whereas the 479 is identified with past and what is missing and believed to be of importance.

The 947 usually thinks that they are the 4 as they see life as bittersweet and feel deeply but they are not as intense as the 4 or as hungry for diversity and experience as the 7. The 947 and 974 seek harmonic resonance more than the the 479 or 794. They want depth and beauty but seek peace and tranquility more. They pine in a quiet gentle manner. They lack voltage...and struggle with naming their preferences in the face of adversity.

If you have the sexual instinct as dominant you could easily identify with 974. The 972 is less ethereal and more focused on being positive. The 974 knows that they feel unhappy, they are more inclined to hide so that they will not be rejected for being negative.

All of the 7-9 combinations are somewhat positive. The 279 is focused on being pleasant. The 379 the most positive. The 479 Is positive outwardly but doesn't always feel it.

The 479 report that they feat that if they show negative emotions they might be rejected.

The 479 with 4 dominant feels devastated by negative mirroring. If a flaw is pointed out if feels disheartening. With negative feedback, the 479 will have trouble holding on to their sense of self... Self esteem suffers as the 479's sense of self is too fluid and takes the shape of the last mirror.

For the most part, 479s like to be in the healing/helping professions where they have the opportunity to use their intuition and creativity.

The 471 and the 479 are both focused on the vision, creativity and the magical. The difference is in the gut center. The 471 has 3 types with access to 1, so are very critical of themselves and feel they must manifest the vision. The 479 is less strident and more soft-spoken and gentle. They are dreamers and intuit but can be shy about pushing to manifest.

9s fear being in conflict. 479 vs 469. Look at the level of confidence and optimism. The 7 brings a light touch with magical thinking, hoping for the best. In contrast, the 6 brings support and loyalty. Both are highly intuitive but the 469 has more doubts - The 479 is more future oriented, focusing on the possibilities. The 469 is more dutiful with a heavier heart, fearing that they can't make enough of a difference.

479 do not realize how healing their gentle nature can be. Your life mission is to identify what is truly meaningful in life and help people transform negative feeling into positive change.

The 479 is more inclined to side step, make nice, and try to get along as conflict feel unbearable.

If you are a 479, you are intuitive, innovative and accepting. You want to be original, positive and peaceful. You are very identified with the defense of optimism and tend to hide your more painful feelings and pessimism for fear of being rejected. You see the wonder in beauty and are gentle, lyrical and idealistic in the way you relate to others.

Inwardly they feel a lot of intensity, especially if they are the sexual instinct. identification is with gentleness and can feel uncomfortable if they share something negative.

479 and 379 I have deemed the "cool guy" tritypes. When 4 is there you get that sort of archetype of the cool artist, laid back, playful, witty, but with a sort of "hidden sorrow". You sense there is more there but that they are keeping you at bay in order to avoid dipping too much into the swamp.

7-4-9 (and the variations thereof) would have a goodly dose of magical thinking. Tending to overdose (in some form) on imagination and whim.

If you knew just how off-base the names 'Healer' and 'Gentle Spirit' are for the 9-4-7 tritype, and how slanted the name 'Ambassador' is for the 9-3-7 (or as you imply 9-4-7 with a very heavy Three wing), how pronounced the narcissistism and exhibitionism of these two tritypes can be, you might perhaps not be so eager to identify with them. Also, the challenge to feel grounded in the physical world, or at least in one's own physicality, is part of the Nine itself, not to mention the Four.

--'a more abandoning and erratic 9. An insatiable and emotionally discriminating 9.':

I'm 974 and others wouldn't describe me as 'erratic' (nor would I). I think 'abandoning and erratic' comes from your so/sx stack, which comes through as a loud note, to me, in your posts.

As for "insatiable and emotionally discriminating", I think this also taps your stack. Your so/sx-ness brings forward the more gregarious aspect of the 7 in your tritype, which manifests as a more-extroverted interplay with those in your presence - though I'm not saying you're an extrovert - there's just more desire for inclusion there. For me (sp/sx), the 7 in my tritype shows up more exclusively as "private mental fun", with only a small interest in "sharing the good times with y'all".

The 4 (in my tritype) shows up as a focus on aesthetics (including a pretty high degree of full-on snobbery in that area), plus life-long issues with depression and feelings of being valueless.

479 - Innovative and accepting 4. Most positive 4. May have defense of optimism hiding pessimism as sadness is hidden.

Also, both sevens and nines have a tendency to want to avoid dealing with negative situations for different reasons...with 7-9-4, I'd guess there would be a lot more denial than the usual 7, but with 4 in there it couldn't be kept up for as long, so there might be cycles of denial-and-crash. There would probably be more underlying self-doubt than is normally found in seven, as well as using the withdrawing defense a bit more.

Yeah, I think seven brings a mild denial through optimism...and then nines tend to get into a bit of denial, because of their desire to avoid conflict/upsetting their equilibrium, so if nine were one of your tritypes, you'd probably have a bit of the "optimistic denial" of 7, but a bit of the "I don't want to deal with this" denial of 9, as well. By contrast, an 8 tritype would probably be more of a sobering influence on the seven, and 1 would probably add a bit of criticality and increased perfectionism (also making for a triple frustration type, with the 4 and 7...but probably less likely due to what you said about the "live and let live" approach to people.)

4-7-(9) - The idealistic 9

A dreamer in every sense of the word. They love to go on flights of imagination, and dream up fantasy worlds. They may often find themselves disappointed in the real world however.

974: intuitive and innovative 9. Most creative 9, especially with an 8 wing (i would think 1 wing here). Tends to be moody. Extraverted 7ish.

As a 9-4-7, I value emotion in a 4-ish way. But the valuing seems once-removed in relation to my 9-ness. It's a belief (about emotion), and though beliefs affect behavior and attitude, in the case of the secondary tritype elements, they're not as reflexive as the response from the primary type.

The 479 is more gentle...and more ethereal. The 479 displays congenial attitudes and hides their feelings of anger for fear of being rejected. The 469 is more phobic than the 468. The 479 seems more easy going as they are more conflict-avoidant. They can demonstrate the outbursts of the sexual 4 when there is a threat to intimacy but feel terrible shame as their identity is built around being gentle and kind. The 468 feels more inclined to be the truth teller at all costs so they take greater risks.

So... There's this old (90s/early 2000s) genre of music that's CGI called Animusic and I remember listening to it as a kid... IDK it soothes my autism/ADHD/most other bullshit that's either acting up or just unwelcome in my brainwaves at the moment. No shame, and no hesitation. Sonic WILL awoo!

Tails wasn't expecting to be shooed away from the sink like that, and snickered as he dodged the soapy fingers. At least Greta was willing to let him help in some way, and he nodded. "Yeah, he wouldn't like that much," another chuckle as he moved to help. Large yellow ears twitching at the sound of the teens rustling around to make their nest.

Once that was done he joined everyone in the living room, but sleep was the last thing on his mind. Tails sat next to Sonic and Volt, opposite the side Shadow was on, and got on his laptop again. Doing what? Only he knew, but he stayed up late into the night. Meanwhile, his remaining drones kept watch outside the Inn.

Over the next few days Star rarely, if ever, left Volt's side. He stayed with him, being there for him, and bringing him down from the nightmares. The blue hedgehog was also... extremely protective. More than he ever had been. Almost every random sound that he didn't immediately know the source of was met with a snarl and raised quills, which a few times may have led to someone he cared about getting growled at.

Apologies flowed from his mouth every time. The last thing he wanted was to keep their friends and family away. Especially Harmony. It was just a knee-jerk reaction spurred by high anxiety, frayed nerves, and fresh trauma. He wouldn't let himself think about it. What he did. The fear it planted in him. Sonic kept it shoved far, far back in his mind. He was far more worried about Volt, and taking care of him was his top priority.

While the hybrid clung to any part of Star he could, the blue hedgehog would often be doing much the same. If they were sitting or laying down, his arms were pretty much always around his partner. Otherwise he'd be squeezing a hand, or have an arm hooked around the other's. Unless he was busy preparing food, or helping Volt with a daily task, in which case he was happy to feel a hand clinging to his hoodie.

The constant closeness was one of the only things that comforted Sonic right now. However, the warm light from the oil lanterns was soothing. Peridot eyes were taking in the way it played off Volt's brown and red fur, while hands worked gentle but firm circles into his partner's back.

"How ya feelin', love?" Star asked softly, hoping this massage was helping at least a little with Volt's soreness.

Whatever the two adults didn’t eat, Harmony finished off. If on,y to make sure that the bowls were easier to clean. She smiled at Tails when he came to join them in the spacious kitchen and handed the bowls to her grandfather as he held out his hand, dodging the other that went to ruffle her bangs with a giggle. The older goat took every bowl and placed them into the sink before shooing anyone away with soapy fingers.

“Unless you vant to be vashed vith the dishes, leave them for mein husband.” Greta warned, chuckling softly as said husband nodded rather proudly. “You may help me vith labeling leftovers. I do not vant Star to accidentally get meat stew.”

She always thought of others in everything that she did, was always two steps ahead. “[Little Fluff, I just did a load of blankets. Get the extra pillows from the closet and make your nest.]” Always two steps ahead. Harmony looked over and nodded, running off with some of her teammates in tow to grab the majority of pillows and blankets from the linen closet to surround the couch. After she picked up and carefully moved the coffee table out of the way. If the adults were going to be taking up the couch, the teens would take up the floor.

No one was going to get close to any of them without having to step over a teenager to do it. And the Gods help whoever might have been stupid enough to try…

Volt could only really watch through half lidded eyes, nuzzling the tan shoulder he was resting against at the kiss to his neck. Everything ached and protested movements so he stayed relatively still, save for his lone hand reaching to take one of his partner’s. The blanket added one more sense of security and a mumbled thanks was all he had managed before he gave in to the exhaustion.

The next few days would be hard.

Despite his rapid healing ability, Volt was still having to adjust. The nightmares were constant and far too often he had blown a nearby lightbulb in the process to the point that Greta had Edgar take the lamps out of the room they were in and instead used the old fashion oil lanterns. Not as much light, but added a warmth to the room that Volt found some solace in. He never strayed too far from his partner and usually had a hold of something of Star’s when moving around.

It was pieces set up to do a job later on.  But he could play with them.  There was a single, large generator connected to the transformers.  This was only for intermediary testing.  It was practical, but he’d been selfish in suggesting this setup as well.  Karl raised his magnetic field, which powered the generator.  Then it was a matter of playing with current.  Having the power yard in front of him meant that he could get 11k volts-for now, later, it would be more-and better, he could create harmonics.

Karl wasn’t a meter; he couldn’t tell the exact number he was producing, in either volts or amps, but the harmonics made themselves known to him.  In the grey light of the morning, the wind seemed to stir, but it was his magnetic field fluctuating.  The transformers rattled, buzzing to life with magnetic vibrations, and as they each pulsed the voltage upward, he could feel it.  Like a spark that layered around his power, pushing it from behind.  The buzzing increased as he adjusted the magnetism.  Finally it was strong enough that he could pull his hammer from its place on the ground.  It landed in his palm as it always had, and its gears began to spin.  He sighed in relief, closing his eyes.  

When he was young, this sort of thing blew up transformers and fried just about any electronic device around him, but Karl had become a surgeon in the science of pushing his luck .  Harmonic frequencies may have been the bane of the rest of the electric and mechanical world, but he loved to feel them and create them.  It was like being wrapped in blanket after blanket of incredible power and sensation-and quite frankly, he needed the sense of control.  Harmonics at this voltage could, and would, blow the whole goddamn valley up, so he was mindful. 

He was silent, and his eyes were still closed, but the mechanical sounds grew and fluctuated around him.  There was his singing hammer, there was buzzing from the transformers, overlapping in tones.  From the utility wires, a repeated snapping as the power arced from the lone transmission pole, and there was a distinct whining from the large generator as it struggled to meet his specifications.  He was conducting an orchestra of metal and electrons in a deadly, but powerful, symphony.  

Soon he hit the third, then fifth harmonic, and most of the transformers began to glow, first orange, then red.  His eyes weren’t open, but he could sense it anyway.  The heat from the inductors radiated back to him as if he were in the middle of a very electric tide pool.  Karl exhaled, and realized his free hand was out in front of him, probing around as if he were blind.
