The ANAPF active power filter collects the harmonic current of the system through the current transformer, quickly calculates and extracts the content of each harmonic current through the controller, and generates a harmonic current command. Then, the compensation current with equal magnitude and opposite direction to the harmonic current is generated by the power actuator and injected into the power system, thereby offsetting the harmonic current generated by the nonlinear load. It is suitable for parallel connection in low-voltage power distribution systems with harmonic loads, and can track and compensate dynamically changing harmonic currents quickly and in real time.
Types of Active Power Filter
ANAPF Active Power Filter
What are the Functions of Active Power Filter?
By suppressing harmonics, purifying the power grid, and saving 8%-20% of comprehensive electricity related costs, the use of this equipment can quickly and effectively recover the investment cost (generally no more than two years);
It can save the cost of power transformer and cable expansion, and improve the service life of power transformer;
It can filter out harmonics, ensure the safety of power supply, and avoid electricity accidents (such as electrical fires, or shutdown due to electricity failure);
It can extend the life of electronic equipment and components, such as reactive power compensation capacitors;
The power factor can be improved, and the power factor can reach 0.95-1 (to meet the electricity requirements of enterprises, avoid high penalties, or even stop power supply).
What are the Advantages of Active Power Filter?
Fast response ability
The output frequency of the next switch can be quickly calculated in a short time, the response is very fast, and the harmonics that change more frequently can be quickly compensated.
High reliability
It has various protection functions such as output over-current, DC side over-voltage, DC side under-voltage, AC side over-current, AC side over-voltage, IGBT dead zone protection and IGBT comprehensive protection. In case of an abnormality in the equipment or system, the equipment can safely exit operation or protect the system and equipment.
Compensating force with large capacity
The compensation capability of the active filter has a lot to do with the capacity of the IGBT. The active power filter can achieve unrestricted cabinet expansion, realize large-capacity harmonic compensation, and greatly reduce the cost.
Simple operation method and structure
It only needs to be connected to the system in parallel with the load, and no other operations are required. The internal structure is simple, and the converter is a modular structure, which is easy to install and maintain. After being connected to the system, it can operate normally without manual intervention.

short drabble
Ekko and heimerdinger are being nerdy while you sleep
requested. by anon
Tumblr media
There was always a soft hum of machinery that filled the air in Heimerdinger’s workshop. And with that accompanied by the occasional clink of tools and the professor’s enthusiastic ramblings. The workshop had an oddly calming atmosphere, a mix of glowing gadgets, bubbling contraptions, and the gentle warmth of lamp-lit light. It was perfect for dozing off, especially after a long day of following Ekko around Zaun.
You were sprawled out on the old, lumpy couch tucked in a corner of the workshop, your head cushioned by one of Ekko’s jackets that you’d claimed for yourself. Curled up against your side was your pet, a small, scrappy Zaunite fox. Its fur was a mix of gray and russet, with glowing green streaks running along its ears and tail. Ekko had found it injured near one of the Sump scrapers, and after some patching up, it had attached itself to you like glue.
Ekko called it “Scraps” (because of course he would), and Scraps was now peacefully snoozing, just like you.
Across the room, Ekko and Heimerdinger were huddled around one of the professor’s latest inventions, discussing something that involved words you didn’t fully understand.
“…but if you accelerate the core’s energy output without stabilizing the oscillation, it’ll implode,” Ekko said, gesturing animatedly at the device.
Heimerdinger adjusted his tiny glasses, nodding. “Precisely! Which is why you must ensure the harmonic calibrations are synced—ah, but don’t forget to account for temporal distortions.”
As the professor continued explaining, Ekko’s focus wavered. His gaze drifted toward the couch where you were sleeping, your form softly rising and falling with each breath. Scraps twitched its glowing tail but stayed nestled close to you.
A small smile crept onto Ekko’s face. You looked so peaceful, completely at odds with the chaos that usually surrounded you both in Zaun. Your hand was loosely tangled in Scraps’ fur, your other arm tucked under your cheek.
He didn’t notice the professor had stopped talking until Heimerdinger’s voice broke through his thoughts. “Ah, young love,” Heimerdinger said, his tone tinged with teasing amusement.
Ekko snapped his head back toward him, blinking. “Huh? What’re you talking about?”
Heimerdinger chuckled, folding his hands behind his back. “There’s no use denying it, dear boy. The way you’re looking at them, it’s rather endearing, really.”
Ekko’s ears burned. “I wasn’t—I mean, I was just—” He trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck. “They’re asleep, alright? That’s all.”
Heimerdinger hummed, clearly unconvinced. “Still, allow me to impart some wisdom, as one who has witnessed countless romances blossom and wither over the centuries.”
“Oh no,” Ekko muttered, groaning.
Ignoring him, Heimerdinger continued, his voice taking on the tone of a well-meaning but meddling elder. “When courting a significant other, one must always show respect, patience, and attentiveness. Flowers are an excellent gesture, but so is active listening. Communication, you see, is the foundation of—”
“Professor,” Ekko interrupted, exasperated. “I don’t think you understand. We’re not—”
“Young people these days,” Heimerdinger said with a dramatic shake of his head, cutting him off. “Always so quick to dismiss advice. But mark my words: treat them well, or you’ll regret it!”
Before Ekko could retort, Scraps stirred, lifting its head with a sleepy yawn. The movement must’ve disturbed you because you shifted slightly, blinking groggily as the sound of their voices filtered through your half asleep haze.
“Mm… what’s going on?” you mumbled, sitting up and rubbing your eyes. Scraps hopped off the couch and stretched before circling back to your lap.
Ekko winced, shooting you an apologetic look. “Sorry, Firefly,” he said softly, using the nickname he’d given you. “Didn’t mean to wake you up.”
Firefly—because you were always a little light in Zaun’s darkness, buzzing around him with endless energy.
You shook your head, a sleepy smile tugging at your lips. “It’s fine,” you murmured, scratching Scraps behind the ears. “What were you guys talking about?”
Heimerdinger perked up. “Oh, nothing of consequence!” he said cheerfully, though his smirk told a different story. “Merely enlightening young Ekko on the art of courtship.”
You blinked, then glanced at Ekko, who looked like he wanted the floor to swallow him whole. “Courtship?” you repeated, raising an eyebrow.
“Don’t start,” Ekko muttered, shooting Heimerdinger a look.
The professor chuckled, his ears twitching. “Ah, youth. So easily embarrassed.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at Ekko’s expression, your earlier grogginess fading. “Well, did you learn anything useful?” you teased.
Ekko rolled his eyes but smiled despite himself. “Yeah, yeah, laugh it up.”
He reached out, ruffling your hair gently before pulling his hand back. “For real, though. Sorry we woke you up. Want me to walk you home?”
You shook your head, leaning back against the couch. “Nah, I’m good here. I like listening to you two talk.”
Heimerdinger beamed. “A kindred spirit indeed! Intellectual discourse is a joy to behold, is it not?”
Ekko groaned, dragging a hand down his face. “And now you’ve encouraged him. Great.”
You just laughed again, feeling the warmth of the moment settle around you. Scraps let out a contented sigh, curling up in your lap, and Ekko plopped down on the couch beside you. His hand found yours, giving it a quick squeeze before letting go, his usual ease returning.
The three of you stayed in the workshop, for endless hours as the two nerds worked on their projects. Whereas you cheered them on at the sidelines with cute ol’ Scraps to keep you company. Especially when they would talk about all the science lingo that you did not understand. Even though ekko would sometimes explain it in more simpler terms. It didn’t quite go through your head. Needlessly to say you enjoyed the days you would spend at the workshop.

~oOo~
You woke up early, the early morning sunlight filtering in through a small window in your hut. You looked at your arm, the scratches from the cougar hardly visible anymore.
With a slight sense of relief, you knew that your mother would be less strict about your activities today, allowing you a bit more freedom within your allowed territory.
You slipped on the faded cream dress, the fabric soft and supple against your skin. It was a gift from your mother for your last birthday. You couldn't help but feel a pang of affection as you looked at the dress. Despite not always being understood by your family, you appreciated these simple gestures of love and care.
Your mother did try her best, considering the circumstances. Being an ape and raising a human child was a task that proved to be more difficult than she had initially imagined. Yet, she tried her hardest to understand your needs and interests.
She learned how to read and started collecting human relics, artifacts, and books, using them to teach you about humans and their history. Despite these efforts, your restless soul still yearned for something more, something she couldn't fully grasp or fulfill.
You had grown into a young woman now, but your spirit was not yet settled. You yearned for more than just the comforts of your village. The itch for adventure, the need to explore and experience the world, it was a constant, nagging feeling deep inside of you.
Despite your yearnings for freedom and exploration, strict regulations were placed upon you, especially by your father. His main priority was your safety. The rules and limitations placed upon you felt like a cage, restraining your spirit and keeping you from fully experiencing everything the world had to offer.
You began to pack your bag, excited for the day ahead. Though you couldn't venture into the overgrown city, you were determined to enjoy the day.
You packed your ukulele, knowing it would bring you solace, along with some fruit to keep your energy up. You chuckled as you tucked your knife into your bag, always ensuring that you had some way of protecting yourself, just in case. Lastly, you placed your current book into your bag, eager for the chance to dive into another world far from the reality of this one.
“Where do you… think you’re going this early?”
You were just about to head out when you heard a voice from behind you. You turn to find your mother standing in the doorway of the hut, her hand on her hip, her eyes peering at you with a mixture of concern and annoyance. You never could sit still.
You approach your mother, leaning into her touch, allowing her to gently tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. You understood that she only wanted you to be safe, that her sternness and concern came from a place of love. And you knew that this simple act of physical contact was her way of showing that.
You reassure your mother, letting her know your plans. "I'm just going to the river's edge," you say, your hand shaking the ukulele. "Maybe sit on top of the rocks near the waterfall.” Your mother pauses for a moment, her eyes meeting yours. For a moment, you see her concern, the worry for your safety etched into her expression. But then, she nods, her head brushing against yours in a tender kiss.
"Be careful," she whispers, her voice full of love and worry. You give your mother a cheeky grin as you leave the hut, your words filled with lighthearted confidence. "Me? I'm always careful," you tease, before disappearing into the early morning sunlight, heading towards the river's edge.
You arrive you are immediately embraced by the morning's sounds, every still quiet. The light morning chatter of the birds fills your ears, harmonizing with the rushing water. Something is soothing about this place, a sense of tranquility that seems to wash over you with every sound.
You settle onto the large rock, placing yourself next to the rushing water. It's a spot you've found peace in before, the natural sound of the river like a melody accompanying your own. Bringing your ukulele into your lap, you begin to play lightly, the first few notes filling the air around you.
Just as if they were waiting for your cue, the morning birds chirp happily in response to your strumming. It's an almost magical moment as if the birds are responding to the music, joining in a natural chorus. You hum along to the melody of the ukulele, a smile spreading across your face.
It's moments like this, surrounded by nature and music, that make you feel most alive, free of the constraints and worries of your day-to-day life.
You continue to play, your fingers deftly moving over the strings of your ukulele, when you notice a large red eagle perched in a tree across the way. The bird seems to take notice of you, peering down at you with curious eyes, perhaps intrigued by your music.
It's a sight that takes your breath away, the red feathers of the eagle almost seem to flutter in the light, catching the sunlight, as it spreads its wings and flaps once. You find yourself captivated by this majestic creature, your playing becoming softer and more melodic as if the music was a response to the eagle.
The large eagle suddenly takes flight, crossing the distance between the tree and the rock with a few strong flaps of its wings. It comes to a stand on the neck of your ukulele, its talons gripping it gently but firmly as if it wants to listen closer.
"Hello." You greet the bird in a whisper, your fingers reaching out to gently touch its neck. The bird tilts its head ever so slightly as you touch it, its red feathers soft and silken under your touch. It seems to regard you carefully, its eyes watching your every move.
The bird suddenly flaps its wings, lifting off from the neck of your ukulele and taking flight. It soars through the air, heading north. You watch as it disappears from your sight, its silhouette becoming smaller and smaller against the vast blue sky.
You find yourself reflecting on the interaction with the eagle. It had been a strange and magical experience. Birds in general were drawn to music, but an eagle allowing such close contact was unusual.
It was as if the creature understood the connection between music and nature, or perhaps it sensed something in you. It became a routine the next week. Each time you would venture to the waterfall and play, you’d draw the red eagle's attention. It would greet you with a hello and fly off to its other daily duties. How you wished you could be as free as the bird.
Noa woke with a start, his eyes fluttering open in the early light of dawn. The first thing he noticed was the absence of Eagle Sun. Its absence leaves a curious emptiness in the air. Noa's worry continued to grow. This wasn't the first time Eagle Sun had been gone from the nest in the early hours of the morning. It was becoming a pattern. The bird had begun to go missing regularly, disappearing for hours just after the sun had begun to rise, only to return from the west.
This particular morning, Noa made it his mission for the day to find out where and why Eagle Sun was disappearing. He knew something was off, and the need to figure out what was behind the bird's odd behavior filled his thoughts. As soon as he saw Eagle Sun's wings spread and the bird take flight, Noa was ready. He immediately mounted his horse, determined to follow the bird's trail and discover its secret. With the morning sun barely peeking over the horizon, Noa urged his horse into a gallop, his eyes fixed on the diminishing figure of Eagle Sun in the distance.
Noa had ridden for over a mile, following Eagle Sun's unwavering path. The wind whipped through his hair as he galloped after the bird, the landscape zooming by in a blur. Despite the urge to go faster, he kept a steady pace, knowing that a steady pursuit was more likely to yield results.
As Noa followed Eagle Sun, he came to the river, a barrier separating two territories of land. Noa's ears perked up as a light, melodic sound reached his ears. It was a familiar sound, one he had heard before, but he couldn't quite place it at first. As he strained to listen, the sound grew clearer.
Noa climbs the rock, his eyes adjusting to the sight before him. There you were, sitting with your back to him, strumming… something. Noa had never seen such an object. You sat conducting music and singing with an angelic voice. For a moment, he thought he must be dreaming.
Noa watched in shocked amazement as Eagle Sun perched on the neck of your instrument, letting you pet its neck. This was no dream. It was reality, but it was not what he had expected. The eagle was reacting to your ukulele and your presence in a way that was almost unprecedented.
"Hello again." You hummed to the bird, a smile playing on your lips. The bird seemed to regard you with curiosity, its head tilting slightly as it listened to your music. Eagle Sun was acting more like a pet than a wild bird, a fact that further bewildered Noa.
Noa, too focused on the scene unfolding before him, lost his footing and tumbled to the ground. He let out a muffled grunt as he hit the surface, the unexpected fall jarring him out of his trance-like state.
You turn around quickly at the sound of Noa's fall, your eyes widening in surprise. There he was, lying in the dirt with a shocked expression on his face.
You mime his expression. It was him. The eyes that had been haunting your dreams, the ones you had seen in the woods, were his.
You felt a strange mixture of surprise and recognition as you looked at him lying on the ground. This was the ape who had been in your thoughts, the one you had dreamed about constantly. “It’s you.” You whispered, an uncontrollable smile tugging at the corners of your lips.
Noa's heart skipped a beat at the sound of your voice. It was you. The person who had taken a nest in his mind for weeks was standing in front of him, just as he had imagined. No, even better.
Noa's heart thumped loudly in his chest as he met your gaze. All he could manage was to gulp and offer a shaky smile. This was unexpected but in the best possible way. You were not just a figment of his imagination, you were real, and you were smiling at him.
Eagle Sun lets out a loud caw, breaking the silence. The bird then flies over to Noa, landing on his wrapped wrist. Noa looks down at the eagle, startled by its sudden appearance. It seemed as if the bird was trying to get his attention.
"Is he yours?" You asked
Noa looks up at you, his mind still reeling from the events of the past few seconds. He wasn't expecting such a direct question.
"Yes," he answered, the word coming out a little more choked than he'd intended. "He is... was my father’s bird.” Noa looks at the bird before it pecks his head. Noa grits his teeth.
Noa's mind was a whirlwind of emotions as he looked at you. He had never felt this way before, especially not towards someone he had just met. The beauty you possessed had made his body freeze, his heart racing.
He was also confused at the sight of Eagle Sun on your instrument, the bird allowing you, a stranger, to pet him so calmly.
You stare at Noa. He seemed to be an ape of few words. Maybe he didn’t know how to speak. You raise your hands to sign.
‘Like to sit with me?’
He hesitated for a moment, his mind processing your question. He nods back. He didn’t trust his words now. Sure they would come out shaky and unclear.
Noa sits down a few feet away from you, his eyes studying you closely. He finds himself captivated by your every move. There is something about you that draws him in, a captivating energy that he can't quite explain.
You notice the scars on his wrist, similar to yours, only they've already healed. They must’ve been from a recent fight. Your gaze drifts back to his face, taking in his features, his eyes that seem to look straight into your soul.
“It’s healing well.” Noa nods in acknowledgment. "Yes, it is." he manages, his voice slightly hoarse. As he speaks, his eyes remain fixated on yours. There's an intensity in his gaze as he studies your features as if he's trying to commit them to memory.
You smile and introduce yourself, feeling a sense of rightness in this moment. The sun was hitting the river perfectly, and the sound of the birds and the water was so peaceful. Noa's heart skips a beat at the sound of your name. He hadn't expected introductions but was glad you had initiated them.
He places his hand against his chest, offering his own name in a traditional show of introduction. “Noa.” There’s something about the way he says his name that seems to have a double meaning, a depth that goes beyond the surface.
Should be mentioned that he is the Master of Birds? He’s the leader of his clan. He should be proud. Would that make him seem likable? Would you be more intimidated or interested? Why does he care?
The two of you sit for a moment longer, the silence filled with the soothing sound of your ukulele strings. Noa allows his gaze to rake over you once more before his eyes focus on your strumming.
He finds himself mesmerized by the music, his mind calming with each light strum of the strings.
Words were not needed at this moment. The two of them sat in a comfortable silence, the sound of your ukulele and the gentle sounds of nature filling the air.
Noa had never felt so at peace with another person. He was used to constant action, leading his clan, and being on guard. But with you, he could just be. It was a refreshing change.
The thought of being comfortable with an Echo was almost humorous to Noa. He had always been taught they were creatures to be feared.
But looking at you, the way your hands moved over the strings of your ukulele, it wasn’t fear he was feeling. It was fascination and comfort.
Noa couldn’t help but smile at the thought. Maybe you had cast some sort of spell on him. Or maybe it was something else.
He couldn’t deny the pull he felt towards you, a draw that went beyond any sort of emotion he had ever felt. He had become obsessed weeks ago when you saved him, and now it only grew stronger. You turn to him, “I like it here. It’s quiet.”
He looks at you as you speak, nodding in agreement. "It is quiet," he signs back. "Peaceful."
Noa looks out at the river and the trees, his mind completely at ease for once. This quiet moment was something he hadn't realized he had been lacking.
So much had happened in a rush for Noa. losing his father, his clan being captured by Proximus, escaping, and his further broken trust in humans caused by Mae. The clan returned together to rebuild their fallen home. Noa was their leader now. The pressure was immense, but Noa was strong and determined to guide his clan to a better future.
But Noa was not one to slow down or rest, always dedicated to his duties and the well being of his clan. But with you, he found it easier to take a step back. He discovered that being in your presence soothed his mind, the world’s worries fading away for a moment.
He looks down at his wrists, tracing his fingers over the healing scars. He looks back up at you, a hint of curiosity in his eyes.
"Why?" He signs back, a slight frown on his face. "You… saved me… Why?" He watches for your reaction, wondering why you did it. Why you would risk everything just to save him?
You look at him confused. “Why not?”
The response makes Noa even more confused by the interaction. Echos were supposed to be selfish and vengeful, yet here you were, the complete opposite; selfless and humbled.
Noa struggled to understand why you would show such kindness to him. He had always been taught to fear and distrust Echos, but at this moment, all he felt was gratitude and curiosity.
Noa ponders the question. was this what Caesar believed? for apes and humans to co-exist peacefully? He looks at you, searching your face for any hint of malice or deceit. But he finds only kindness and sincerity.
“You were in trouble. I wasn’t just going to let it tear you apart.”
He nods in understanding. The reasoning made sense, but it still puzzled him how you could just risk your life for him.
"I was in trouble," he signs with a slight nod. "You ...helped." Was it common for most? Had Noa heard the horror stories to keep him inside? You smile at Noa. “Don’t have a lot of experience with humans?” Noa hesitates, his mind going back to his earlier encounter with Mae. She had proven him wrong. Washed him and the others away like they were nothing. "No," he says back, his gaze shifting away from you.
You nod in understanding. “Me either. I mean I’ve gotten close enough to watch, but I’ve never really met another human.” He looks at you in surprise. So you had been living alone as well? Noa didn't know what he expected, but it wasn't this.
"You have never met…another human?” Noa looks you over as if he needs to make sure. “You are… human." His gaze searches your face.
You look down at your hands, “My mom died when she had me. A village took me in. I don’t get to go out much.”
Noa ponders the possibility of other clans nearby. He had heard of them before, but never one so close. He looks you over, a question forming in his mind. "Other village…nearby?" He asks, his gaze studying your expression. “dangerous?”
You shake your head. “No, no. Not at all. Won’t even tell them I saw you.” Noa nods in understanding, relief washing over him at your answer. He had never really interacted with anyone outside his own clan before, but with you, he felt strangely comfortable.
There was a comfortable silence that fell over the two of you. Neither one of you felt compelled to share too much personal information, yet being in each other’s presence felt like fate.
Noa found himself watching you closely as you strummed your instrument. The sound was soothing, the moment so peaceful.
You notice the first signs of daybreak, the rustling of nearby animals and birds. You knew it was a sign that your time here was coming to an end. There were other responsibilities you had to tend to.
You felt a pang of disappointment, knowing that you would have to leave soon. There was something comforting and intriguing about being in Noa’s presence, something you didn’t want to let go of. Noa watches as you place your instrument down, your body language telling him that your time together is coming to an end.
As you turn to face him, a wave of self-consciousness washes over you. Suddenly, you become very aware of yourself, wondering if you look okay. Noa notices the change in your demeanor. He studies your expression, the way your hands fidget with the frayed edge of your dress.
“I usually come here most mornings. It’s a nice way to start the day.” You state in a fact. It was an open invitation without asking right out.
He nods in acknowledgment, his mind already processing the open invitation. He appreciated your straightforwardness and the fact that you were offering to meet again without beating around the bush. He nods back as he glances at the river, his mind already anticipating seeing you again.
You stand and put your bag over your shoulder. “Goodbye, Noa.” You say softly as you begin to make your way down the rock structure skillfully.
He stands as you prepare to leave, a sense of reluctance washing over him. He didn’t want this moment to end, but he knew you had to go.
"Goodbye," he whispers back, his eyes following you as you carefully make your way down the rocks. Noa watches your every move, his heart already longing for your return.

Systech - overdrive
"Have you ever played a pedal that stuck with you forever, even though you knew in your heart it was totally weird, and nobody famous ever used it? For me, yeah, tons of them. But if I had to pick one that best fit these criteria, this one would be it. This is the Systech Overdrive. Before we dive in, let’s talk a little about where it was made.
There was a time when, of all places, Kalamazoo Michigan was an epicenter for musically related things. Apart from being a city referenced by Looney Tunes and the hometown of Glen Miller’s gal, Kalamazoo had the Sound Factory, which was a collective of sorts that featured guitar luthiery, a recording studio and electronic gear manufacturing. The facility sat front and center on Kalamazoo Avenue, smack dab in the middle of the city, and attracted visitors from all over.
Of course, if it was some random outpost of nobodies, the name wouldn’t carry any weight. However, the Sound Factory was shored up by three relatively heavy hitters of the early ‘70s. One such was Greg Hochman, Keith Emerson’s Moog technician. He was joined by Bryce Roberson, otherwise known as Uncle Dirty of Chess Records fame and a relatively unknown person named Charlie Wicks. If you’ve been reading this column for a while, you’ll recognize him as the man behind ProCo—the Ratfather.
Together, these three developed Systech, which itself was short for “Systems & Technology in Music, Inc.” That mouthful of a company was responsible for the Harmonic Energizer, a little-known yet highly influential effect that provided a deep filtered sound in addition to some crunchy drive and sharp resonant peaks. You might know it as one of Frank Zappa’s signature pieces. And while this Overdrive effect wasn’t that, it was derived from the Harmonic Energizer and shares a handful of characteristics.
Basically, if dialed in just the right way, the Harmonic Energizer will make short work of an entire speaker cabinet and anyone in the audience. This is because it was designed to provide a staggering gain of 55dB, enough to cause serious damage to your gear or hearing. The Overdrive was created to get some of those tones at non speaker-shredding levels.
If you’re thinking this unit is some kind of proto-Tube Screamer, think again. Because this was the early ‘70s, nobody had really decided exactly what “overdrive” meant. And though Maestro (coincidentally, also in Kalamazoo) had created one of almost every effect under the sun, pedal fever wasn’t quite here just yet, so Systech was essentially “winging it.” With that said, the Overdrive is actually a pretty aggressive fuzz sound. And to that end, the fuzz circuit is pretty unique. The entire affair contains two transistors—one a JFET input buffer—and one dual op-amp with a handful of other components. Even the topology is relatively simple, but the simplicity ends with the schematic.
The EQ control works unlike pretty much any EQ control you’ve ever fiddled with; as much an EQ as the whole unit is an overdrive. Instead of a simple tonal adjustment, the EQ control is actually an active bandpass filter, in the same family as a wah circuit. With a simple twist of a knob, you can adjust this filter from 122Hz to 900Hz. As you might imagine, the EQ control sounds relatively cocked-wah-esque, but the sound is much more aggressive than any wah on the market before or since. The reason has to do with the Q factor, essentially a bandwidth control. A wah’s Q is set by its 33K resistor and is much wider than that of the Overdrive, so the tone is a little more rounded. While a wah’s filter is a rubber mallet, the Systech Overdrive’s is a tack hammer. While the sound is curious, the thing really comes to life when you crank the EQ control, as it gives you a nice punch in the mids. You lose a little definition when you get to the bottom third, but man is it fun to play with.
“Distortion” is just what it sounds like, but curiously enough, “Gain” is about as close to a volume knob as you’re going to get. Much like Distortion, if you turn it all the way down it kills the entire signal, but it sits behind a final gain stage. If you have the guts to crank both Distortion and Gain, you’re richly rewarded with gobs of gooey sustain, but the flipside is that your amp is likely screaming “uncle.” Worth it? Your call. I say go for it.
Many people say Zappa used a Systech Overdrive, but alas, he did not. However, when you play it, you can definitely see the similarities between this unit and the fabled Harmonic Energizer. But as far as I’m concerned, it’s close enough for rock and roll."

We are all mirrors of each other...
literally 🪞
Tumblr media
Don't cling to others' opinions.
They don't even represent the truth of things.
Many times the people we deal with are dealing with THEIR OWN PROJECTIONS, they are not even looking at us for who we are. And we do the same with others. And reading about this, recognizing this, is so important, because then we stop projecting our own disorganized things onto others, as well as stop receiving so openly the projections of people as absolute truths of life.
How much of your opinions about others doesn't exactly reflect your view of them, but rather what you feel about yourself when looking at them? Some examples.
Examples:
The person who is already in their adulthood and who specifically has the frustration of not having lived their dreams, not having pursued something that fulfilled them, for various personal reasons of theirs.
It is something that calls for healing and harmonization of this, so that the person does not live with this unhappiness within themselves. However, many of us do not have the habit of reflecting on how much our past impacts our present, and neither on how much we have our baggage disorganized that we reflect onto others the who-o-le time.
So, the person in the example, older, and who has this specific issue of frustration, sees a young adult being independent, chasing their dreams.
Whenever dealing with a young person who reminds them of this, their ego immediately confronts with the information of "I wished I was living this", and this being's energy shifts to a position of envy, and sometimes it can even seek to harm the other person by inventing stories, distorting the other's independence into arrogance, gossiping, and so on.
And the "crazy" thing is that, believe it or not, this being tells themselves that they are doing this for reasons they invent for themselves ("this person is arrogant, look at them, all independent!") when, in reality, it is they who are constantly feeling uncomfortable with the strong and independent presence of the other. Low self-esteem and comparison, which unfortunately lead to envy.
The young person, in the example's case, doesn't need to say anything to the person for this to be triggered, because the ego, which is the primary channel through which we tend to have contacts with others, captures this information.
The ego will capture, will know that it is something that needs to be compensated internally but that the person, out of pride, out of ignorance, out of disinterest, out of stagnation, or whatever, did not run after correcting.
Knowing this, the ego, which has important functions for our psychic structure, but will always depend on how its "owner" conducts it, will deal with envy, as this is the way the person deals with things they receive from their surroundings and that "hit" them in the mirror effect, since, in reality, we all serve as mirrors to each other. All the time (and it was supposed to be a good thing, but the way we deal with it makes it bad).
The human ego is important,
but not the end of everything.
It is only a part of the mind's structure. It is limited, but it exists so that the human being, with their current limitations, deals little by little with what they can from the exchanges they make.
The conscious mind is limited. The unconscious, infinite (and we are more than 80% made of unconscious mind!).
The ego is the most active part in us, but it is not the only one that exists.
And so there is an axis to be activated, which is the Ego-Self axis, so that every human being knows that the place of the Ego is the place of support to live the moment, to deal with the moment.
The Ego is like a filter for consciousness to support and live. But it's not the end.
Therefore, not everything your conscious mind says is real.
The "conscious" mind needs to be refuted and reviewed by yourself, because it PROJECTS itself all the time, it is always in contact with others and taking to others what is uniquely its own (especially unresolved things, but also good things), as well as always bringing in what others say.
And if so, and if the Ego is in the part of consciousness but it is limited, does not reflect everything, it needs to be refuted. So that our mental life is healthier and truly conscious, in the pure and true sense of the word.
In the example, the person who is envying lacks independence and confidence to follow their own path internally, they are absent from it, it is something they know they do not have within them but that for their own well-being and dream, it would be important to have (after all, the more we live our lives in integrity, seeking to be and live more sides of ourselves, less restricted, limited, we will be, and your consciousness, deep down, knows this 🙌🌟).
Another important point to mention is: On the other side, if it is a person with traits of fear of judgment, fear of exclusion, this situation will negatively fit, making the being who is envying seem so right and the one who is afraid of judgment, feels down. It is important to take care of this to avoid further internal issues.
If you identify that someone is projecting onto you in a very negative way, step back, take care of it in yourself and let the other's internal work be their own. But, although difficult, avoid the issue of anger and revenge. This will keep you in this process longer than necessary.
Both people need help,
in the first case, for having a deep low self-esteem to the point of letting this splash onto others;
in the second case, for having a root of fear of judgment and fear of not pleasing others, which leads them to believe that the harshest and most negative criticisms that arise from people reflect reality.
Another example:
A woman who denies the experience of her feminine side in integrity (the issue of sexual self-awareness, for example) by conditioning herself to some kind of intense restriction, and who also experiences the difficulty of, when looking at any woman who does not do the same as her, judges, but it is not just any judgment, but rather a categorization and labeling, because for her the wound with the experience of other sides of her femininity is so limited, and, because she keeps denying this to herself, the anger at those who live in freedom arises and increases whenever she encounters such a person.
It is important for both sides to take care of this, the first, who is emanating and projecting, the second, so that their internal difficulties with fear of judgment or something similar, do not increase.
Everything can be reversed into an opportunity for healing! Heal, heal, heal, still and especially if the person has come, in malice, because of their projection, to hurt me.
These are just some of the various examples we could give to illustrate how our opinions about others and the opinions they give are not always what things really are.

Sigilcraft, Metasigils, & Hypersigils
When first getting into sigilwork, you may stumble into the practices of meta/hyper sigils. Metasigils are things like sigil-chains and spell circles, or multiple sigils that are connected or combined in order to create a more specific purpose. Hypersigils are nebulous connections made between concepts and intent that are embedded into the media. Hypersigils operate off the exact same mechanics as regular sigils but they are carried through a different, more expansive, vehicle. Rather than using lines and symbols to carry their purpose, their purpose is programmed through imagery, theme, composition, color theory, mathematics/numerology, and/or energy work. Sigilcraft, Metasigils, and Hypersigils represent intriguing aspects of contemporary occult practices, drawing upon psychological frameworks and symbol manipulation. Sigilcraft involves the creation and activation of sigils, which are abstract symbols charged with personal meaning and intention. These sigils serve as condensed representations of desired outcomes or transformative states. Rather than relying on explicit intentions, practitioners engage in a process of symbolic encoding to tap into the subconscious and evoke change.
Metasigils take sigilcraft a step further by incorporating multiple sigils into a larger, interconnected system. This system aims to capture a complex web of desires, beliefs, and archetypal influences. Metasigils serve as composite symbols that harmonize various facets of the practitioner's psyche, creating a unified expression of personal goals and aspirations. Through the interplay of multiple sigils within a Metasigil construct, practitioners seek to engage with deeper layers of their consciousness and facilitate transformative shifts.
Hypersigils push the boundaries of sigilcraft by expanding beyond static symbols into dynamic narrative frameworks. Hypersigils encompass a multidimensional approach, incorporating elements of storytelling, art, and personal mythology. They function as immersive vehicles that transport practitioners into a narrative world where their desires and intentions unfold. Hypersigils intertwine the symbolic power of sigils with immersive narratives, fostering a heightened level of engagement and identification. Through the ongoing interaction with the narrative construct, practitioners immerse themselves in a self-created reality that facilitates profound personal transformations.
The underlying psychological mechanisms behind sigilcraft, Metasigils, and Hypersigils are rooted in the power of symbolism and the subconscious mind. By engaging in symbol manipulation and focusing attention on the sigils or narrative constructs, practitioners tap into the reservoir of the subconscious, which is receptive to symbolic language and imagery. This process operates on the principle that the subconscious mind is more receptive to indirect communication, bypassing conscious filters and allowing for greater potential for change and manifestation.
Within this psychological framework, sigilcraft, Metasigils, and Hypersigils can be seen as tools that interface with cognitive processes, including attention, belief formation, and intentionality. The process of creating, activating, and interacting with these symbolic constructs involves a deliberate manipulation of cognitive processes to influence perceptions, motivations, and behaviors. By engaging with sigils, Metasigils, and Hypersigils, practitioners harness the power of suggestion, amplifying the psychological impact and aligning their subconscious processes towards desired outcomes.

Historical Contributions
The contributions of Paracelsus (1493-1541), Austin Osman Spare (1886-1956), Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499), Abu Ma'shar al-Balkhi (787-886), and Zhang Guo Lao (c. 8th century) to the practice and use of sigils, talismans, and amulets were instrumental in shaping the understanding and application of these symbolic tools.
Paracelsus, a pioneering 16th century physician and alchemist, explored sigils, talismans, and amulets within his holistic approach to medicine and metaphysical philosophy. His seminal works, such as "The Book of Seven Seals" and "Philosophia Occulta," elucidated the intricate connections between the natural and spiritual realms. Paracelsus emphasized the utilization of symbols and objects to harness and channel the innate healing powers of nature, promoting the idea that the physical and spiritual aspects of existence were intimately entwined.
Austin Osman Spare, an artist and occultist, brought a unique perspective to sigils, talismans, and amulets in the early 20th century. In his influential work, "The Book of Pleasure," Spare developed a method known as "The Alphabet of Desire." This system involved the creation of personalized sigils as a means of manifesting one's desires. Spare's approach emphasized the integration of sigils into individualistic practices, wherein practitioners could tap into their subconscious and project their intentions into the symbol, without relying on external correspondences or established magical systems.
Marsilio Ficino, a 15th century Italian philosopher and astrologer, made significant contributions to the understanding and application of talismans. In his notable work, "De Vita Coelitus Comparanda," Ficino explored the concept of celestial correspondences and the use of talismans to align oneself with the cosmic forces. He believed that talismans, charged with celestial energies, could serve as conduits to bring about specific effects or virtues. Ficino's emphasis on the inherent connections between the celestial and human realms paved the way for further developments in talismanic practices.
Abu Ma'shar al-Balkhi, an 8th century Persian astrologer and astronomer, explored talismans and their relationship with celestial influences. In his extensive writings, including "The Book of the Thousands" and "The Great Introduction," al-Balkhi explored the creation and application of talismans based on astrological principles. He believed that the proper alignment of planetary influences and the selection of auspicious times were crucial factors in the efficacy of talismans. His works provided a structured approach to the utilization of talismans in magical and astrological practices.
The fangshi (Occultist or Alchemist) Zhang Guo Lao, a legendary figure in Chinese Taoism during the Tang Dynasty (7th century), is associated with the creation and use of talismans. Though historical details of his life are uncertain, his role in Chinese folklore and Taoist practices is noteworthy. Zhang Guo Lao was believed to possess the ability to create and utilize magical charms and talismans. He was associated with the tradition of Taoist magical arts and was considered a master of talismanic practices.
These individuals, each with their unique perspectives and contributions, shaped the understanding and practice of sigils, talismans, and amulets. Paracelsus's holistic approach, Spare's individualistic methods, Ficino's celestial correspondences, al-Balkhi's astrological insights, and Zhang Guo Lao's mythical influence all played a significant role in the development and evolution of these symbolic tools. By exploring the interplay between natural and spiritual elements, these historical figures expanded our understanding of how sigils, talismans, and amulets can be utilized as practical and symbolic aids in various metaphysical, mystical, and magical practices.
The concept of hypersigils emerged in the field of chaos magic, and it was popularized by the occultist and writer Grant Morrison. Grant Morrison is often credited with introducing and developing the idea of hypersigils in his comic book series "The Invisibles," which was published from 1994 to 2000. Morrison expanded on this idea and proposed the concept of hypersigils, which extended the creation and activation of sigils to more complex and immersive forms of media. In "The Invisibles," Morrison incorporated his personal beliefs, desires, and intentions into the storyline, characters, and themes of the comic series. By doing so, he believed that he was effectively creating a hypersigil that would have a profound impact on his own life and the world around him. Morrison is quoted: “"The 'hypersigil' or 'supersigil' develops the sigil concept beyond the static image and incorporates elements such as characterization, drama, and plot. The hypersigil is a sigil extended through the fourth dimension. My own comic book series The Invisibles was a six-year long sigil in the form of an occult adventure story which consumed and recreated my life during the period of its composition and execution. The hypersigil is an immensely powerful and sometimes dangerous method for actually altering reality in accordance with intent. Results can be remarkable and shocking"

Uses and Applications in Witchcraft
The applications of Sigilcraft, Metasigils, and Hypersigils within the models of psychological, spiritual, energetic, and informational witchcraft encompass a diverse range of practices and techniques, each with its distinct focus and approach. Sigilcraft, the creation and utilization of sigils as symbolic tools, finds relevance and applicability in these different models.
In the psychological model of witchcraft, sigils serve as potent vehicles for self-exploration, introspection, and personal transformation. Through the process of crafting and activating sigils, practitioners engage in a form of self-directed psychological programming. Sigils become encoded representations of desires, goals, or affirmations, and their activation acts as a catalyst for subconscious shifts, empowering individuals to manifest desired psychological states or changes within their own psyche.
In the spiritual model of witchcraft, sigils hold significance as sacred symbols that establish connections between the individual and the divine or spiritual realms. Through the process of crafting and consecrating sigils, practitioners forge a connection with spiritual forces or deities, invoking their guidance, protection, or blessings. Sigils become conduits for spiritual energy and serve as focal points for devotion, meditation, or ritual practices, facilitating communion with the sacred and the cultivation of spiritual growth. May also incorporate astrology to aid in constructing this connection.
Within the energetic model of witchcraft, sigils function as energetic constructs that interact with subtle forces and channels of energy. By infusing sigils with a specific energetic signature, practitioners direct and manipulate energetic currents to influence specific outcomes or to affect the energetic balance within themselves or their environment. Sigils become energetic engrams, harnessing, transmuting, and directing the flow of subtle energies to bring about desired energetic fluctuations. Due to the pervasiveness of energy within all practices, any media or symbol can be created as, or made into, a sigil.
The informational model of witchcraft recognizes sigils as symbolic codes that communicate and transmit information beyond the conscious realm. In this model, sigils serve as gateways to accessing or altering information within the collective unconscious or the larger informational field. Practitioners employ sigils to tap into the reservoir of universal knowledge, to enhance intuition, or to encode information for purposes of communication, divination, or influencing informational flows.
Metasigils, an extension of sigilcraft, further expand the possibilities within these models of witchcraft. Metasigils operate on a meta-level, encompassing multiple sigils within a unified framework. They represent complex intentions, archetypal patterns, or overarching principles, serving as beacons for desired outcomes or as catalysts for profound shifts on various levels of existence.
Hypersigils transcend the individual sigil and encompass an entire narrative or artistic creation. Hypersigils are multifaceted expressions of intention and passion, woven into a larger creative endeavor such as a novel, artwork, or performance. Through immersion in the hypersigil's narrative or experience, practitioners engage with the intention on a deeper level, blurring the boundaries between the symbolic and the lived reality, thus manifesting desired outcomes or transformations.

Sigilwork As A Concept
The conceptual foundation of sigil magic is functionally the same as non-sigil spellwork. Both  are forms of esoteric manipulation, exhibit striking similarities when examined through a purely theoretical lens. Both rely heavily on the deliberate and purposeful application of intent, passion, and gnosis, hinged on the belief that human will, when focused, can incite change in the experienced reality.
Sigil magic operates on the premise that a practitioner, through concentrated trinity of spellwork, invests a symbol, or sigil, with a specific directive or objective. This directive, often personally significant and meticulously crafted, is embedded into the sigil during its creation. This procedure leverages the potent forces of subconscious cognition, energy work, and potentially spirit work to effectuate desired outcomes. The sigil, in this case, serves as an anchor for the working of the practitioner.
On the other hand, non-sigil spell work also hinges on the utilization of the trinity, albeit  sometimes without the symbolic component. Such spells, which can incorporate verbal utterances, physical actions, or the use of specific artifacts, aim to manifest a certain outcome by directly channeling the practitioner's will. In non-sigil spell work, it is the act or process of spell-casting that provides the energy which is typically anchored in a physical object or organism rather than a symbolic representation.
This dichotomy between the symbolic (sigil) and the action-oriented (non-sigil) methodologies offers an intriguing insight into the functional versatility of focused willpower in esoteric practices. While sigil magic employs symbols as the praxis for the working, non-sigil spell work instead often utilizes action or ritual which may not utilize this method of symbology. Despite these differences in methodology, both practices exhibit a common underlying principle: the harnessing of will (intention, passion, & gnosis) to effect desired changes. Energizing a sigil, akin to the preparatory stages of a non-sigil spell, involves focusing one's psychological, spiritual, and emotional energy on the emblematic object. This concentration of energy can be analogized to potential energy in the physical sciences - energy that is stored and ready to be transformed or released.
In the final stage of the sigil operation, commonly referred to as activation, the practitioner catalyzes the stored energy, analogous to the casting stage of non-sigil magic. Like a potential energy converted into kinetic energy when a physical object is set into motion, the activation process of an active sigil (see Sigil guide) transmutes the potential 'energy' concentrated in the sigil into a force aimed at manifesting the initial objective. The release of energy in this manner parallels the manner in which a spell is cast in non-sigil magic - a directional release of prepared energy to achieve a desired outcome. They also invariably utilize energy work, subconsciously or otherwise, to program the work towards a specific direction; move the work towards its target; and cause manifestation to a certain degree.
Furthermore, through the Spare method a meme, like the well-known "Loss", starts as an explicitly narrative unit. The original comic strip, that gave birth to the "Loss" meme, encapsulates a specific narrative—a poignant moment in a larger story. When this meme gets abstracted into a series of connected lines (| || || |_), it undergoes a transformative process akin to the creation of a Spare sigil, where an idea or goal is reduced to an abstract symbol.
The process of abstraction is central to this model, severing the explicit link between the signifier (the meme or sigil) and the signified (the original narrative or goal), thereby enabling the meme or sigil to be loaded with new meanings. Through the principle of intertextuality, each subsequent iteration of the meme or sigil can carry additional layers of meaning based on its relationship with other texts or cultural artifacts, further augmenting its power or ability.
When a meme is shared, engaged with, and re-contextualized by numerous individuals across the digital landscape, it can accumulate a form of energy. This propagation, engagement, and subsequent energy accumulation parallel the charging phase in sigil work.
The final aspect of this model concerns the activation of the sigil or the triggering of the meme's energy. When the meme is encountered in a context that aligns with its charged energy—whether that's humor, shock, or another emotional reaction—it discharges this energy, catalyzing a change in the perceiver's consciousness. This change is the operative goal in both meme propagation and sigil magic, making memes an intriguing tool for modern magical practitioners.
This concept is relatively mirrored by spellwork and spiritual practices found in pop-culture magic. Where a spell or being is used in real life. Pop-culture spellwork operates on similar principles to traditional spellwork, with pop culture entities taking the place of classical magical symbols or archetypes. For instance, a practitioner might call upon a character from a popular film or book, seeing in that character a symbolic representation of the qualities they wish to evoke or the changes they aspire to make. This is akin to how a sigil operates: an abstracted symbol carrying potentially accumulated meanings, invoked to initiate a desired change. Spirits conceptualized this way can become what is referred to as an egregore, or a thoughtform, which is forged in the idea of “the collective consciousness”. These entities, much like memes, are imbued with a certain collective energy derived from the shared cultural understanding and emotional investment of their audience. Intertextuality and abstraction play significant roles in both practices. In pop-culture spellwork, the entities used are intertextual, their meanings and energies derived from their relationships with other cultural artifacts. In pop-culture spiritwork, the practitioner often abstracts the entity from its original context, enabling it to carry new or additional meanings.

Applications of Sigil Conceptualization via Gnosis
The application of sigil conceptualization via gnosis demonstrates its efficacy and adaptability in various magical practices, such as knot magic, candle magic, rune magic, and kitchen magic. Gnosis, referring to a state of deep intuitive insight or focus (typically propagated through the cultivation of a conducive headspace), serves as a powerful catalyst for sigil work. The process involves the practitioner entering a heightened state, transcending ordinary awareness to connect with their intention and passion.
Knot magic, a practice found in diverse cultural traditions, involves the tying of knots to manifest desired outcomes. Through the use of knots, imbued with symbolic significance, practitioners harness the power of intention and gnosis to weave their desires into the fibers. By tying and untying knots with purposeful focus, the practitioner establishes a tangible representation of their intention through abstraction, activating the energetic potential of the work. This is nearly a 1:1 correlation to sigilwork.
Candle magic, another commonly employed practice, utilizes the element of fire as a transformative agent. The practitioner chooses a specific colored candle that corresponds with their intention, and through passion and gnosis, infuses the candle with their energy. As the flame flickers and dances, it serves as a medium for the manifestation of the spell’s purpose, releasing the intent into the universe.
Rune magic, outside of divination, is derived from ancient Germanic and Norse traditions, involves the use of runic symbols as conduits for magical workings. The practitioner, with deep gnosis, selects specific runes that resonate with their intention. By inscribing or projecting the chosen runes, they infuse them with their energy and connect with the inherent energies represented by the symbols. The runic sigils act as channels through which the practitioner channels their will and taps into the primal forces of creation.
Kitchen magic, rooted in the practical aspects of everyday life, utilizes the preparation and consumption of food as a magical act. With a focused mind and gnosis, practitioners infuse ingredients and dishes with their will. By combining culinary techniques, herbs, spices, and energetic and maybe even ritualistic preparation, they create edible hypersigils that carry their encoded purpose. As the food is consumed, it serves as a vehicle for the manifestation of the magical intent, bringing transformative energies into the practitioner's life through their physical body.
The applications of sigil conceptualization via gnosis in knot magic, candle magic, rune magic, and kitchen magic highlight the versatility and potency of this approach. By bypassing the psychological model and eschewing specific religious or ceremonial frameworks, these practices provide a pragmatic and accessible avenue for magical workings. Through the fusion of focused intention, symbolism, and intuitive insight, practitioners unlock the transformative potential of sigils and harness the universal forces at play in the world.

Ideas to Consider When Using Sigils in Spellwork
Since sigil magic can be considered a spell within itself and its core concepts permeate such a large area of magical practice, it would be wise to consider just how it is used as a component in spell work. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to see if your sigil would interact with your working in a hindering way:
Does my sigil’s meaning align exactly with the purpose of my spell?
Yes: Beyond using it as a correspondence, or a physical representation of the threshold you’re creating, it will not help or harm the spell itself. If you want or need such representation or reminder it may be helpful for casting.
No: Next question
Does my sigil avoid all concepts that are in my spell?
Yes: Will the sigil still work towards the purpose of the spell?
Yes: This sigil will aid the spell, as a spell itself rather than as a correspondence, but it won't necessarily help the caster.
No: Why are you using it? Perhaps omit it or find another to use.
No: Next question
Does my sigil represent my target?
Yes: This will work effectively so long as the sigil is energetically activated and/or can evoke solid memories, imagery, voices, and characteristics of the target.
No: Next question
Is my sigil used purely for correspondence?
Yes: Next question
No: Does the sigil imply some verbage or means of manifestation?
Yes: Next question
No: This sigil may potentially interact, though without more specific information it is difficult to tell.
Did I activate my sigil, or plan to?
Yes: Correspondence or manifestation?
Correspondence: If you plan to activate it, it would be wise to reconsider. If it is already activated, it would be wise to recreate an inactive version.
Manifestation: This sigil will work well for your purposes, so long as the means of manifestation are the same as the means defined by the spell.
No: This sigil will work for your purposes.

Characters Who are Autistic, Because I, an Autistic Person, Said So
*gifs not mine*
Abed Nadir (Community)
Tumblr media
has special interests
doesn’t like change
vivid & complex imagination
often wishes reality is more like tv & actively tries to make it so (particularly when he’s upset/overwhelmed)
difficulty fully understanding social cues, behaviours & practices
however, he ‘studies’ those around him to learn (considering himself “a student of human character”)
excellent memory
very self-aware
infodumps, hyperfocuses & hyperfixates
dan harmon wrote abed based on himself and later discovered he’s actually autistic
Chidi Anagonye (The Good Place)
Tumblr media
uncomfortable crossing his ethical boundaries (including rule breaking & lying)
has a special interest
infodumps, hyperfocuses & hyperfixates
socially awkward
honestly, writing a 3,000-and-something page book on your special interest that not even an ancient demon (who can read all of humanity’s literature in an hour) can read/understand, is the most autistic thing that’s ever been done
difficulty making decisions (especially when put on the spot)
gastrointestinal issues (especially when anxious)
gets ‘worked up over little things’ (every autistic person has heard some variation of this phrase at least once, right?)
literal thinking
Xenk Yendar (Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves)
Tumblr media
difficulty understanding sarcasm, jokes & expressions
literal thinking
strong sense of justice/right & wrong
difficulty fully understanding social cues, behaviours & practices
literally walks in a straight line over a boulder, instead of going around it (this is 100% something i would do)
“i do not traffic in colloquialisms”
Orla McCool (Derry Girls)
Tumblr media
has special interests
literal thinking
honest
sensitive to loud noises & textures (sensory issues)
difficulty with social norms & cues
difficulty understanding sarcasm & jokes
Robin Buckley (Stranger Things)
Tumblr media
“i don’t really have a filter or a strong grasp of social cues”
sensory issues
blunt/honest
atypical problem solving
motor difficulties
infodumps & hyperfocuses
feels different from those around her
hints of possible special interests
great memory

My F-1 Trillion thoughts
TLDR: The slow songs are better, I love Dolly, and most of these did not need to be features
Wrong Ones (Tim McGraw): VERY stadium country. Not totally my thing but I respect it. If this is setting the stage for the rest, I hope the features deliver.
Finer Things (Hank Williams Jr.): Oh. Definitely not my thing. Sounds like a Florida Georgia Line song. That’s not a good thing. Could’ve been a lot better with a more toned-down acoustic production style. I guess this is the pseudo-title track for the album? I like the album title on it’s own but I hope this song isn’t representative of the whole thing.
I had some help (Morgan Wallen): I’ve heard this one before, and yeah, I really don’t like Morgan Wallen. If it hadn’t been a feature, I think I could at least accept this a fun catchy pop-country song. But I really don’t think Posty needed the “help” on this one.
Pour Me a Drink (Blake Shelton): Post’s voice works so well for a country song, I just don’t understand why there’s so many unnecessary features on this album. This could’ve been a solo song is a statement that applies to most all of these. That said, lyrically, it’s a fun blue collar anthem. . . being sung by a The Voice judge. It’s just hard to take Blake Shelton seriously when we tries to do these blue collar anthems, and feels appropriating
Have the Heart (Dolly Parton): DOLLY CAN DO NO WRONG. THIS is a well used feature. Very rhinestone cowboy reminiscent. This is Taylor Swift’s cowboy like me without the criminal activity and with a much more hopeful sound.
What Don’t Belong To Me: FINALLY. A solo track. Post sounds great on these more personal ballad style songs. A great catchy ear worm chorus is a staple of his, and this is that! There’s no mistaking this for a Post Malone song, even with a genre change-up. I like the true to form songwriting style.
Goes without Saying (Brad Paisley): This is a pop song with a banjo. This is gonna be on country radios for a long time, isn’t it? The new unavoidable Brad Paisley song I guess. Not terrible or anything, just okay.
Guy for That (Luke Combs): THIS DIDN’T NEED TO BE A FEATURE!!! More stadium country okayishness.
Nosedive (Lainey Wilson): It sounds good when Post slows down!! The more emotional ballads of this album are the best parts. I can see this being used in a blockbuster romance movie soundtrack based off a Nicholas Sparks book.
Losers (Jelly Roll): 10 years ago this would’ve been used in a Disney movie about middle school bullying. In 2024, teenagers are going to bully sing this AT the losers sitting in the back of football bleachers.
Devil I’ve Been (Ernest): She fixed him! (Really she did!) Unfortunately his friends are still demons.
Never Love You Again (Sierra Ferrell): Slow songs are great!! Do this more!! The slow bass line works great here.
Missin’ You Like This (Luke Combs): Luke Combs again? Really? The slowed down wistful love song is nice here, but really, really, didn’t need to be a feature.
California Sober (Chris Stapleton): Another feature done really well. The harmonizing route with both their voices is great compared to the alternating style on other tracks. Stapleton and Post’s voices are great together, and makes for a really fun sound.
Hide My Gun (HARDY): Again, the slower songs are the best ones here for letting Post really shine for who he is. Also, murder!!!
Right About You: I love a good song title pun (Kacey Musgraves’ Space Cowboy you are beloved), the ‘right/writing about you’ bit here is very appealing. It lands well, and it’s a fun love song about being famous for your heartbreak.
M-E-X-I-C-O (Billy Strings): YEEHAW!!!!!! A ridiculous story song is always fun! Hell yeah man take her daddy’s money and blow it in Vegas and get shot out of chapel alongside Elvis on your way to Mexico!
Yours: Sounds like an early 2000s post-9/11 sad country song to be made with a sad sepia filtered music video. But! I do respect the lyrics and everything Post did with it. There isn;’t really anything wrong with sounding twenty years ago is twenty years ago was good. Just glad this album didn’t get a Toby Keith feature.
