“If the 2004 movie had gotten sequel(s), who would have been cast?”

Inspired by an ASOUE subreddit thread that asked the same question (which I deleted from bookmarks a year or so ago so I can’t sadly share it update edit I found the link because it was still in my history here) I did my own fancasting for some characters. Netflix ASOUE is used as a comparison to see a what could have been in the 2000′s. Round one, the Quagmire triplets!

For Duncan and Quigley, I went with Freddie Highmore (he was mention on the subreddit thread which I thought was perfect), with The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008) as a photo reference. The movie would do the same as Netflix, casting the same actor to play Duncan and Quigley. I don’t think they’ll give Quigley longer hair though. Maybe different bangs.

For Isadora, I went with Saoirse Ronan, using both Atonement (2007) and City of Ember (2008) as photo references. With Netflix ASOUE giving Isadora long hair, I took into considering maybe the movie would have done the same. I’m glad that her career gave me the option to ‘show a hypothetical short-hair Isadora, and long-hair Isadora in this 2000′s what if.

Duncan and Isadora both stared down at his hands, and then Duncan started to cry, followed quickly by his sister.

“Besides,” Violet added, hoping to lighten the mood, “I’d rather you be in here than dying in a shack.”

“Yeah.” Isadora nodded, smiling slightly as tears rolled down her cheeks. “Yeah, I- I would’ve done the same- the same thing-”

“Quigley would’ve done the same, too.” Duncan muttered.

Duncan Dylan Quagmire

Duncan feels really, really devastated. He just wants to crawl into the nearest cave and just go to sleep. But it isn’t easy to rest when you’re on the run from a sadistic Count and his troupe.

He misses Klaus very much. Almost too much. He keeps seeing him everywhere, despite Klaus actually being high up in the air with Hector and Violet.

Duncan feels weak, like there’s nothing he can bring to this world. Not even journalism gives him any pleasure anymore. Luckily, he has two siblings by his side to help him fight, even if they also have their own issues to deal with. Duncan hopes there’s something in this world that can make him feel less smaller.

I need suggestions!!! I want to make an aesthetic/moodboard for a relationship in asoue (it doesn't have to be romantic) and i'm out of ideas. I've already done kit/olaf, esme/olaf, beatrice/lemony, the quagmire triplets, and the snicket siblings. I'm doing canon relationships, and i would rather not do the baudelaire siblings (there's a lot of moodboards for them already). If anyone has an idea i would love to hear it!!

Post-Canon Headcanon Moodboard Aesthetics Group Dynamics for the Quagmire Triplets, and the Quagmire Triplets and their pseudo-Guardian turn actual “Guardian” (in quotes given their circumstances), Hector. 

Duncan and Isadora turn their direction back to Quigley. “That’s funny for you to think Hector doesn’t like you,” they say in unison, “because Hector thinks you don’t like him.”

Quigley quickly narrows his eyes, and stands up. “Where did he get that impression!? How could I not like the man! He willingly decided to stay and raise us after we escaped that creature! A man we barely knew continued to stuck by us! He thought we’re worth it all! Even everything that happened in in that vile village, after what he let happened to Jacques—”

“Pleasure to meet you!” said Fiona, grabbing each triplet’s hand in turn and shaking it furiously. “Any friend of the family is... well, a friend of the family!” 

“You’re one of the Addamses?” Duncan asked nervously, his eyes darting from her leather jacket to the suspiciously-smoking stains on her pants, before reaching for his inhaler. 

“That I am! Wanna see my turn on a lightbulb with my mouth?” 

“Maybe some other time.” Quigley said. “Is Violet here? She wanted to show me-” 

“Her guillotine, yes! She and Klaus are upstairs trying to behead their sister, I’ll show you the way- are you alright, dear?” 

The Quagmire brothers turned to Isadora, who was staring, wide-eyed, at the Addams girl, frozen halfway to grabbing her phone. 

“I, um... like your... jacket...” Isadora said, her face going red. 

“Thank you.” Fiona grinned at her. “It’s the venom-resistant one, a bit necessary when you’re helping Mother in the garden.” 

“That stain came from the garden?” Duncan asked, pointing at the smoking part of her pant leg. 

“Oh, no! That’s from my poison experiments. Helping Sunny in the kitchen and all that.” She grinned, and waved for them to follow her. “Watch out for the rug, he doesn’t like being stepped on!” 

As she scampered off, Quigley turned to Duncan and Isadora and said, “On a scale of one-to-ten, how much trouble are we going to be in when we get home and tell our foster mom what we were doing?” 

Isadora finally recovered from her gay shock, and then smirked a little. “We won’t be in any if we don’t tell her.” 

Quigley considered, and then he and Duncan smiled. “That is true.”

The Stain’d Associates/Unfortunate Generation Blended Families

↳ Moxie Mallahan and her children, Duncan, Isadora and Quigley Quagmire

The Stain’d Lighthouse is always bursting with activity, from Moxie and Duncan writing stories and throwing theories at each other from across the room, to Isadora spouting poetry and singing along to the radio, forcing her family to dance with her, and even to Quigley messing up an entire room as he sketches and paints maps or builds globes out of spare materials, or calls up the Baudelaires to ask them to come visit (which they always do). 

At first, Moxie was a little concerned with how much Duncan followed her like a shadow, and was very nervous about being a guardian, seeing as she hadn’t had many good examples of parenting. But she adores her kids, and they love spending time with their Cool Editor Guardian, who shows them articles and editorials before publication, and lets Isadora write couplets in the margins as Quigley uses old editions of the paper to sketch some ideas and doodles. And the triplets love living in the lighthouse, and sitting on the edge of the cliff at night to look up at the stars until Moxie makes them go inside and get some sleep.
