enemies to lovers
Oh my God anon you are setting me up for such a good plot....you have too much faith in me.
Top Five
Jordan Li x Reader
SUMMARY: You and Jordan had always fought about everything. Whether it was because of something you two disagreed on, or a simple topic, but it was always mainly due to your Top Five rankings. While Marie was put in #1, you stayed in place at #3. As they say: the enemy to your enemy is your friend :)
WARNINGS: swearing, slight Gen V spoilers, implications of sex (not specifically written)
You and Jordan had been enemies since you could remember. Both of your parents had been close friends, and thought that their children would be the same.
That had never been the case, though, as you two had been each other's sworn enemies since the day you had met.
Why? Neither of you really had a reason. It had nothing to do with your powers, and most times your arguments had no real...argument. just pointless yelling.
But then, as you grew up, and you both entered Godolkin, it became more than just pointless arguments.
You spent every day trying to prove who the better person was. Which one was liked best, which one performed the best, etc...
It didn't help your case that Jordan was all buddy-buddy with the headmaster, Professor Brink, which let them be in with the popular crowd.
That didn't prevent you from being #3 for the top five, of course, but you were still upset.
---------------------------
Its not like you weren't friends with the "popular" crowd either, being friends with Cate Dunlap and Andre Anderson had its perks.
The only downside was that you were constantly in the same room with Jordan when you all hung out together, and she INSISTED on glaring at you every time.
Your response to it was always sticking your tongue out at them like a child, to which they always rolled their eyes.
To you two, it was like a game of cat and mouse, and neither of you could figure out which was which.
To your friend group's eyes on the other hand, it was a game of "who will kiss who" first. They saw your constant fighting as blatant flirting that neither of you were willing to admit.
So, when Marie Moreau came to the school, and Luke had killed himself along with killing Brink, you two finally had someone to be genuinely enemies with.
After all, the enemy to your enemy is your friend, right?
So, while Jordan was thrown to #5, and Marie moved up to #1, you couldn't stop glaring at Marie every time you walked past her.
-----------------------------------------------
As you walked down the path towards the dorm rooms, you had noticed Jordan standing there, clearly upset.
Ever since their rating had gone down, it was like they were a ghost to the rest of the school. You could relate, however, as being #3 wasn't as nice when the top 2 were being practically worshipped for something they hadn't even done.
So, gathering up your courage, you walked over to him, lips casted into a frown, "you okay?"
Her upset expression turned into one of annoyance (defense mechanism due to the fact her enemy was talking to her), and she groaned, "why do you care?"
You rolled your eyes, expecting nothing less from the supe in front of you, "because ever since Marie got to #1 and you got pushed, you've become a ghost. And you seemed pretty upset so...I don't know."
"You're still #3. You shouldn't be caring about anybody who's below you." They scoffed, their eyes refusing to meet yours.
You sighed, "the enemy to my enemy is my friend, I guess? Look, Jordan," You paused for a moment, "I know we aren't the best of friends, but I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I know how close you and Brink were and what happened fucking sucks."
Jordan's eyes moved to look at you, her frown slightly disappearing as she noticed that you actually genuinely cared. "Yeah, I'm fine."
You tilted your head, furrowing your eyebrows as you knew that they were lying, "there's no need to lie to me. We may hate each other but I do know you."
Jordan sighed, "can we not do this here?"
You gave them a look of confusion, "Okay...where do you wanna-"
You were cut off by Jordan taking your hand and dragging you off to their dorm room, and suddenly you found yourself sitting on their bed as they began to pace around. "Of course I'm not okay! Marie took all of the credit for something she didn't even do! She fucking took off! She ran! And it seems like I'm the only one pissed the fuck off about it because come ON! you did more than her! You actually tried to talk to him! You tried to talk him down and yeah it didn't work but you tried! And I fought him! Where the fuck is our credit, huh?!" Jordan ranted, getting angrier by the second.
Your frown deepened as you watched Jordan get heated, "Look, yeah, I'm angry I didn't get any credit, but at the end of the day, the rankings aren't that important to me. And yeah, I'm stuck at #3, but it's been like that for a while. I'm fine with not getting any credit because at the end of the day, it wouldn't have changed anything. You would have been #1, and Andre would have been #2. I care more about the fact that I lost a friend." You explained, standing up and walking over to Jordan, grabbing their hands in your own to stop their pacing.
She stopped in her tracks, her eyes downcast at your interlocked hands, head low to hide the rising blush that began to cover her cheeks.
"But I thought you did care. Yknow, our constant fighting and all?" Jordan questioned.
You chuckled, "Jordan, I constantly fought with you because thats what we do. We're supposed to be enemies, remember? Enemies fight."
Jordan stared at your hands for a bit longer before gathering the courage and looking up, "what if...what if I don't wanna be enemies anymore?"
Your brows furrowed in confusion, "what do you-"
You were cut off by Jordan planting their lips on your own, and you didn't hesitate to kiss back as your hands let go of their's and cupped their face.
And soon enough, you were back on her bed.

"Jumanji" speculation
Tumblr media
This is the synopsis for the upcoming sixth episode of Gen V (source).
My guesses are that:
"Emma goes to find Sam" - Seems like she probably returns to Godolkin's campus since we last saw her in episode 5 with Sam at the drive-in, calling the others to warn them about Cate.
Tumblr media
"Marie, Jordan and Andre are forced to see things from Cate's perspective." My guess is this will be a limelight episode for Cate with a fair number of extended flashbacks that illustrate just how Cate came into Shetty's control, and also probably give us more Golden Boy as well as tell us just how Brink fits into this all (and why exactly Golden Boy killed him). Since Cate clearly is wracked with guilt about wiping their minds, it would make sense that she'd want to divulge everything she can to regain their trust. There was a preview shot in episode 6 of Cate's eyes looking pretty bloodshot, suggesting she restored all of their memories, not just Andre's.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Dr. Cardosa makes a breakthrough with a mysterious virus, and Shetty makes a terrifying request with dire consequences." We're definitely going to be seeing follow-up to the scene that Shetty had with Cardosa in the Woods corridor. Definitely seems like he wants Marie's blood to perfect his virus that can control Supes (which I personally think might also tie in with why Cate was under Shetty's control, given her particular powerset).
Edison Cardosa: [Sam] nearly killed my family, Indira! He's far more trouble than he's worth, and Golden Boy is dead anyway. The point is, I'm done with Sam. He's not my problem anymore. I'm tired of babysitting psychopaths. Indira Shetty: Babysitting psychopaths is literally your job. Edison Cardosa: Those kids found out about him! Indira Shetty: Those kids have been handled. They won't be a problem. Edison Cardosa: Come on. You know it's just a matter of time before they find out about everything else we're doing down here. I am this fսcking close to perfecting the virus, a viable way to control them for good. But if they discover that? I'm not paid nearly enough to die for this shit. Indira Shetty: So you want a raise? Edison Cardosa: No, that's not what I... Indira Shetty: So why don't you tell me what it is you do want? Because we both know you're not going anywhere. Cutting up Supes and seeing how they tick is a skill that won't quite shine on your LinkedIn profile. Edison Cardosa: I want the girl. Marie. Her abilities are the rarest I've ever seen. She doesn't understand how powerful she really is. She's the perfect subject, could speed up my timeline. Indira Shetty: She is special. But no. You're not the only one interested in Moreau. She has a benefactor, and because of that, she's strictly off-limits. For now.
This will probably include some explanation as to what Soldier Boy might be doing in this show. But then there's the question of who Marie's benefactor is. It's probably not Shetty herself because I don't see why Shetty would refer to herself in the third person, so it's probably someone else within Vought or associated with Vought. Could be Victoria Neuman (since we will see her in person in one of these episodes), but I like the theory that Marie's benefactor is Stan Edgar. As New Rockstars pointed out, he's got a history of taking interest in orphaned Supes from Red River who accidentally killed their own parents (can't be a coincidence that we actually saw Marie's picture briefly on the computer screen when Hughie was at Red River investigating Victoria's past and uncovered her connection to Edgar; Victoria's and Marie's parents also died in similar fashion); he'd want a new asset in the wake of Victoria's double cross, and seeing as Edgar was the one who signed off on Payback betraying Soldier Boy to replace him with Homelander back in 1985, it would make sense for him to have a contingency plan up his sleeve (and be secretly coordinating with Shetty and the many other insiders he probably still has within Vought).

Dunlap & Li: POV: Jordan Li Eyes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cate Dunlap, she was one of my good friends, but when I found out she was fucking with my head. Now I wonder, was her compassion and kindness even real?
Freshman Year:
When we first met, we were both timid people, unsure of our powers. I been taking shit from my parents and Cate been locked up by her parents for years. We quickly got along knowing our childhoods was not the best. I made her feel comfortable in society and she gave me the courage to switch more often. Despite Cate living an isolate life, she was still the only woman that was willing to help me live through womanhood.
Sophomore Year:
After Professor Brink allowed me to switch and constant encouragement from Cate, I finally felt comfortable to switch to my woman form in public. This allowed me and Cate have some girls night out. After I stopped Luke, who was responding badly to "special treatment". Brink made me his TA. I told Cate about it, she seemed happy for me. Things didn't go well with my parents still after I've been switching more, but Cate helped me through it. Still having Andre and Luke as friends were good, but they were also my competitors, Cate, who wasn't aiming to be a hero like the rest of us, was my closest friend.
Junior Year:
Junior Year, I was Brink's TA, competing with Luke. Despite being his girlfriend, Cate was the best to me. One night we were having fun with the uncool Marie Moreau. When Andre accidently hurt a woman, I wanted to help, but Cate suggested we leave, so I decided she was right, our positions are important. After Luke killed Brink and himself, along with losing my number two spot on the ranking, I was feeling, but Cate offered her condolences for Brink's death which helped a bit. After telling my parents, Cate offered her support with a drink. Then we quickly bonded with Moreau. When Andre came with the new I was shocked, but position meant more. Hooking up with Marie and going to stop Luke's brother. I blacked out and woke up with Marie. Then I was talking to Cate and Andre the blackout and Marie. Andre and Cate were supportive of my thing with Marie. When figured out what Rufus did to us, and Cate told her roofies, We decided to go after Rufus. Eventually we found Rufus trying to take him down. But Marie got a call from Emma with shocking news that Cate mind-swap them. I was shocked, but Andre showed up. Then Cate showed up and gave us our memories. Knowing I was mad at her. But when she was seizing on the ground I couldn't leave her there. We got Marie to use her powers to help Cate. I was mad, but I couldn't let her suffer. Suddenly we found ourselves in Cate's mind, We saw her backstory with her brother, her mother, being locked up. Then Cate somehow managed to merge memories, revealing my Brink-Luke secret. Eventually we found her. We wanted her to come with us, but she refused, but after Marie and Andre convinced, she came back. I tried to helped save her form Sam, but eventually Emma got him under control and they could focus on Shetty, But fucked our heads, my head, I can't trust her again. I feared she would give up and return to Shetty. After trying to get more evidence of the Woods, Cate called us to Shetty's home, she got Shetty to kill herself. Sam then teams up with her. I wanted to stop them, but Cate's words and Marie's restraint stopped me. I couldn't focus on Cate, I had to focus on stopping the Woods supes. After I got the board on the grounded helicopter, Cate tried to come at, but Marie stopped. He was shocked by what happened. But to my shock, Homelander came and lashed Marie. I watched Homelander take me and others from the scene including the now one arm Cate.

Rating: 2/5 stars
Genre: (YA?) historical sci fi/fantasy/mystery
Series: The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club #1

***Full review below.***
CONTENT WARNINGS: madness, mention of suicide, blood, self-inflicted wounds, animal death, violence
OVERVIEW: This is another book that sat on my TBR for ages. I remember picking it up at a used bookstore solely because I liked the vibes; I'm not usually a fan of books that use characters in the public domain (it feels too close to fanfiction for me), but I thought I'd give it a chance. Overall, my opinion of this book is not glowing. I can see how some readers may like it; it's kind of fun, and a girl group that goes around investigating secret societies has appeal. However, I wasn't very impressed by the writing, and the way the narrarive progressed just wasn't great. So this book gets 2 stars.
WRITING: While I think Goss's prose is fairly clear and easy to read, there were a few features that I personally disliked.
For one, this book is heavy on the expositional dialogue. Characters will speak for whole paragraphs at a time, explaining things so that the story has context.
For two, Goss uses a lot of filter words so that I always felt a little at arm's length. Phrases like "Mary wondered" or "Mary thought" were common, and while they didn't bother me all the time, they did add up.
For three, Goss uses a lot of exclamations and prompts "suspense" with a bunch of questions, which make the book seem aimed at a younger audience. Phrases like "He had swallowed the fly!" and "how tired she was!" felt like they were inserted to spell things out, as well as questions like "but why was she killed?" - as if Goss didn't trust the reader to infer things. I guess maybe this would be ok if the audience is in fact YA (though it's hard to tell - there's nothing definitive that I can find).
And lastly, I just wanted something more out of this book regarding female monstrosity. This may seem like an unfair criticism, but Goss's author's note claims that the idea for this book stemmed from an observation that a lot of 19th century mad scientists in literature were hung up on female monsters. That observation is a good one, but ultimately, I didn't feel like this book really dwelled on the theme of female monstrosity or did anything interesting with it. The book was mostly about all these lady monsters going around and being badass, and even then, they're not really all that monsterous.
PLOT: The plot of this book follows Mary Jekyll - daughter of Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr. Henry Jekyll - who is left penniless following the death of her mother. When Mary discovers that her mother had secretly been paying for the care of someone named Hyde - the same name as her father's associate and criminal-at-large - she figures she can turn him in and claim the reward money. However, Mary discovers that Hyde is in fact Diana Hyde - Mr. Hyde's daughter. The two find themselves tangled up in a murder mystery (being investigated by Sherlock Holmes) which leads them to the daughters of other famous scientists: Beatrice Rappiccini, Catherine Moreau, and Justine Frankenstein. Together, they seek to uncover a secret society that united their fathers while also exploring what it means to be the progeny of monsters.
There was a lot about this plot that felt fairly whimsical and joyful. I could tell that Goss was enjoying the writing process and those who have read the 19th century stories this book references will surely get a chuckle out of some things.
However, I couldn't help but feel like this book was aimed at a young audience, in part because there wasn't much about the plot itself that was clever. It often felt like Goss was hand-holding a bit too much, and though the characters tell us the girls are smart, they never really do anything exceptional. All of their insights feel obvious if you're familiar with the stories the book is referencing. As a result, this book felt like a Ready Player One but for 19th century Gothic novels - it's mainly enjoyable for the references rather than the story itself. If the audience is a YA one and truly meant to be just a fun 19th century monstrous girl gang, then I guess I can see the appeal. But since I struggled to determine the audience, I'll just have to call it like I see it.
Lastly, this book felt stuffed with unnecessary details. There were quite a few paragraphs about characters eating meals or descriptions of where they were sitting in the room. There were also a lot of explanatory phrases that let the reader know why characters were making decisions or why things were in the world, and dialogue would get long and meandering. I think a lot of these details could have been cut or inferred and the pacing of the plot as a whole would have felt much better.
CHARACTERS: This book primarily focuses on 5 girls, their housekeeper, and Sherlock Holmes and Watson.
There were moments when the characters were charming. Diana Hyde, for example, was feisty and obstinate, and Justine Frankenstein was sweet-natured and timid despite being so strong.
However, I do think the writing style tends to flatten them out, and though I didn't mind their chiding in the "interruptions," I also don't feel like I fully got to know them as people. I think the characterization would have been better if each of the girls grappled with their own identities and with their own concept of monstrosity. While there's a little of that, it's quickly brushed aside and the characters don't so much grow as they have adventurous romps together.
TL;DR: The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter tries to have fun with female monstrosities from the 19th century, but the lackluster mystery and the prose style make this book tedious to read.

amélie guillard moreau -- revised backstory given the new info.
amélie guillard was born february 21st, 2043 in annecy, haute savoie, rhône-alpes france to lèonard guillard and marie-laure moreau, the first and only child of the couple. her father was extremely wealthy, a french politician and the eldest of the guillard sons, and had inherited the family’s château -- a massive settlement located in the middle of lake annecy. with ties to the corrupt french government, frequently visiting paris for business negotiations in the wake of the omnic crisis, it came to light that france, much like the united kingdom, was denying omnics much of the basic fundamental rights they were to be granted, causing major cities like paris, marseille, and lyon to become engulfed in turmoil. many french citizens, terrified in the aftermath of the omnic crisis, were hesitant to grant omnics their rights, causing discrimination and separation to break out in waves across the country, in some aspects worse than the united kingdom -- the worst of this discrimination found in the capital, paris. the french government consistently contributed to these sentiments, revealing itself to be corrupt, and whilst the economy of france continued to suffer, as did many of its citizens. those who inherited wealth, such as lèonard, were not affected by this -- in fact, lèonard’s contribution to the french government’s treatment of omnics exempted him from much of what was going on in post-war france.
amélie’s mother, on the other hand, did not come from money. she was from marseille, france’s second biggest city, which had taken perhaps the biggest of hits from the omnic crisis. marseille, in the wake of the crisis, shrunk dramatically in its population. the harbors became polluted, holiday-goers abandoned it in favor of the côte d’azur, which had remained largely untouched by the conflict -- the city, known for its destruction in the crisis, lost much of its appeal. thus, in the aftermath, marseille, empty and hurting severely due to the economy, was one of the biggest targets of reconstruction for the french government, as losing marseille as a major port city was damaging the country even further. the goal was to focus on attracting tourists and residents back to its shores, as well as cleaning the valuable harbor that had been left in such bad shape from the battle that occurred there. in marseille, omnics and humans lived in equally appalling conditions. growing up in an environment where she lived in similar quarters to the omnics that were shunned in major cities like paris, marie-laure was raised with no perception that she, a human, was any better. she later grew to be a staunch advocate for omnic rights.
she met leonard on one of his many visits to the city of marseille when she was in her mid-twenties -- at this time period, the french government was not revealed to be so corrupt to its citizens, with marie-laure largely unaware of much of what was happening in paris. leonard seemed to express distaste for the harsh and inhumane treatment of omnics, a sentiment that marie-laure strongly agreed with at a time when the controversy was rising. the two grew close, marie-laure even accompanying him on trips across france to help rebuild her country in the aftermath of the crisis, standing by her husband’s side even when french politics began to become blurred and not so clear. he was wealthy, she knew, but marie-laure did not marry him for the money. she had hopes that she could persuade him to help the french government to ease the tensions between humans and omnics, a conflict, she later found out, that was being carried out purposely by the french government as per an agenda to help boost the strength of the country -- in the event that a second crisis were to occur. horrified by her husband’s participation in this conflict, she left him, taking their only daughter, amélie, with her.
marie-laure raised amélie in a small and humble home in the commune of fuveau, located not too far from marseille and aix-en-provence. amélie did have to visit her father’s château semi-regularly, as per the agreement -- she would take the train up to lyon, where he’d pick her up and drive her back to annecy, whenever agreed upon. shocked at the difference between her mother’s home and her father’s, amélie staunchly refused any money her father were to offer her, unless he were to give some to her mother. although amélie could have lived a life with a lot of money and a huge home, she refused it, choosing to stay with her mother in fuveau.
from here, amélie’s story remains much of the same as i had it prior ( see my hc tag for me to explain it more in detail! ) -- she left her hometown for paris after passing le bac and graduating lycée, to pursue ballet and teach young children. after meeting and falling in love with gérard lacroix, amélie moved with him to zürich, switzerland, abandoning all she had previously known in france. later, upon becoming widowmaker, she was still assigned to take out her parents as her second and third targets, but upon killing leonard, widowmaker took both his wealth and the château of the guillard family and turned it into her own base, from which she could carry out and operate missions from within unsuspected. although widowmaker lives in nice, she carries out many of her work obligations from château guillard in lake annecy, primarily using it as a hideout when on the run from foreign law enforcement -- as well as the french government.

Riverdale 1x12 thoughts
It took days for me to finish this, I wondered if I would in time, so I rushed it somewhat towards the end. Under the cut, so as not to clutter up your dash
So the episode of the big reveal finally! It did feel deflating to me, so many of the theories I’d read (and come up with) seemed more shocking and chilling than this.
But moving on -
When Archie and Ronnie first tell Betty about not finding the gun in FPs trailer, she’s not so quick to believe them. Perhaps she’s afraid to hope? Just like Juggie? Eventually she comes around. It’s telling how Archie is the only one who wants to go to their parents with this piece of information. It speaks volumes about the trust he shares with Fred. The other two are reluctant and understandably so. I wonder if that trust between Archie and Fred will take a beating in the finale? With some of Fred’s secrets revealed?
Anyway, the adults react predictably. Fred nodding at what Mary was saying before she even got to her point was hilarious.
Betty and Archie deciding to go together to look for their best friend/ boyfriend was a sweet throwback to the pilot and them being BFFs and constantly texting each other. I like Archie much better when he’s being a friend than a boyfriend.
The scene at the bus-stop was a heart-breaker. Gladys, idk what your reasons are, but when your boy calls you in the middle of the night saying in that broken voice that he wants to come visit, you fucking let him! Idk how long it’s been since Gladys left FP and Juggie left home though. It must’ve been a while since he saw them? Did he never used to visit his grandparents when he was younger? What really went down when Gladys left FP? What made Juggie decide to stay? His love for Riverdale? Or his faith in his dad? I really need these answers. To think Juggie wanted so badly to get away he was willing to take the first bus to anyplace without a plan to what he would do when he gets there.  This seems like he was escaping. But Juggie doesn’t run away from his problems. I think he just went through some moments of extreme despair when he felt like the whole world was against him and he didn’t want to be around anyone who was familiar with his situation. Common sense still prevailed though and he headed off to Pop’s when the lobby closed. Juggie is nothing if not clear headed, even in a desperate moment.
Archie puts two and two together and decides Juggie wanted to go to Ohio. Betty totally understands his actions – the only friends he has completely betrayed him. Archie, you better admit you fucked your friend over! He doesn’t really own up to his actions, does he? Even when they find him, it’s Betty who says sorry. He just says - We all screwed up (Betty wasn’t part of it though!) and then immediately that something good came of it. Like it didn’t matter what they did, because they were gonna save FP. I get his intentions were pure, to protect Jughead, but that doesn’t make what he did okay. That’s the difference between intent and impact I guess.
Now we come to FP’s story and I’m pretty conflicted about how much of it is true. First, if Jason was so against his dad’s drug dealing business and that’s the reason he decided to run away, it seems pretty weird to me that he would seek out FP and agree to deal the very thing he’d ditched his family for. I know it was a one off job, he needed the cash to set up him and Polly, but still weird. So was FP lying to Keller? Did Jason actually approach him to seek his help to expose his dad? And were the drugs actually Cliff’s that he was going to drive upstate to a higher authority (everyone knows the Blossoms had Keller in their pocket)? Also why would Jason tell FP his entire plan about Cheryl rowing him across the river and him pretending to be dead unless he trusted him a little? And Jason would’ve trusted FP if he thought they were on the same side.
FP confessed to stealing the files which we know Hal did. What if he lied about everything else too? Sidenote: I do think all the scenes we were shown in flashback were actually what happened. FP torching the car, FP stashing the body in the freezer – the last one was corroborated by Joaquin as well, so FP is definitely an accomplice if nothing else, and hiding felony is obstruction of justice. I really want to know that all those FB scenes were what actually happened though. Still doesn’t prove he wasn’t helping Jason expose his dad though, we didn’t hear that conversation between him and Jason, because we never get to hear Jason talk.
Polly suspected Cliff from the beginning, did Jason hint at something to her? Did he say he wanted them to run off together because his family was against them being together, same as hers? Or did he hint there was something more sinister in the offing. Seriously though, how could Hal and Alice put Polly through all that just because they were third cousins? And Alice didn’t even know! So she was going along with Hal’s plan just because of personal vendetta? How petty could you get Alice? Lying to Betty, lying to Polly, keeping her trapped in that place, not letting Betty visit her – so extreme!
Keller letting Cliff meet and be alone with FP? What police officer does that? Of course this means the Blossoms have him firmly under their thumb.
OMG- why is Ronnie so convinced that Hiram had something to do with this? She thinks he hired someone else to plant the gun now? Archie and Ronnie holding hands under the table was sweet, but why are they still keeping their relationship a secret? Possibly because it’s not the right time for it I guess. Still it was a supportive Archie moment and that’s always good.
I didn’t realize Kevin was so high on morality quotient, Juggie is at the station being grilled by Keller AGAIN??? I mean once was bad enough, how does Keller get away with talking to minors without an adult present? And Kevin thinks that’s okay? Really? And then when Betty brings up Joaquin, he’s immediately all – don’t bring my boyfriend into this! He knows Joaquin is a Serpent and that Serpents do shady things and he won’t even consider that he may be involved? But he’s so ready to believe in FPs guilt. I love how Betty doesn’t even care that FP confessed, she’s just convinced there’s more to it than that. I love determined, badass Betty!
Juggie walks in to apologize to Cheryl and oh my God, it takes so much fucking courage to do this? In front of the whole crowd? I think he kinda anticipated her reaction, he feels shitty about what his dad did so he’s taking the beating in place of FP.  Juggie taking responsibility for FP when FP never did for him is all kinds of fucked up. He doesn’t owe FP shit. He doesn’t owe Cheryl shit. Yet he apologized. His voice broke me. This boy is such a fucking gem.
Betty meeting Cheryl at the lockers was her explaining Juggie, but also being understanding of what Cheryl was going through, and Betty is so good to do this.  Cheryl was in grief yes, but saying barely touched him? Juggie had a cut on his lip! Archie is so useless at defending Juggie but at least he tried. Don’t know who’s a bigger dick – Weatherbee or Keller. I get why Juggie is so upset and why he isn’t in the mood to believe in his dad’s innocence. He’s not in a great place. He’s been asked all kind of probing questions by unsympathetic dickheads and just been pummelled by Cheryl for being her brother’s murderer’s son. Plus he hasn’t slept all night. He must be such a mess and unable to think rationally. He’s angry -of course he is -and tired, who can blame him for venting it out on his dad? But that line- I’ve been waiting my whole life for that man to do the right thing- broke me. And made me angry at FP all over again for putting Juggie through that emotional rollercoaster.
Weatherbee is a dick – concerned for Jughead’s safety my ass, immediately after he’s worried about other students reaction to it. Archie was defending his bro, and I loved it. Fred was looking out for Archie and that is his job as a dad, but couldn’t he see that Jughead isn’t to blame for his dad’s actions? Okay, becoming his guardian was a bit much and Archie was pushing, but Fred’s – trouble seem to follow the Joneses” was unnecessarily harsh. Not done. Fred! That look Archie gave him when Juggie said he’s sleep in the garage said it all!
Okay, so now onto the big reveal Coopers = Blossoms, I have just this to say, I don’t know why this is such a big deal and Hal, why couldn’t you just tell Polly if you thought it was??? The Coopers immediately think the Blossoms would be even more deranged than Hal when it came to third cousins dating but it actually wasn’t the case? OMG that scene was so OTT and hilarious and so Riverdale! Alice and her witching references and Dr Moreau experimentation and Penelope’s utterly cracked line about nothing being more purely Blossom than those babies. I swear I was Polly in that scene, her face was my face! And Hal going – what is wrong with you people! And Penelope with her crazy eyes! OMG- such drama! Juggie would’ve loved to witness it! Sidenote: Cheryl looked truly heartbroken that Polly left – remember her immediately holding Polly saying she’s not going anywhere? Madelaine killed it in every scene this episode. She brings out Cheryl’s conflict so well.
Mary tells them that FPs one phone call was to Joaquin. Juggie’s quip even in the most despondent of times – at least he’s honest murderer - that’s his armour, to hide his pain, by making those sardonic quips. My heart hurts
And in the next scene it literally ached. Skeet and Cole killed it. Oh god, the pain in FPs eyes when Juggie was recounting his feelings. And the hurt in Juggie’s voice when he talked about how his hopes came crashing down!
-          You paid attention to me
-          I was so happy for the first time in so long
And then FP with the Never come back here and Juggie turning around to look at him for the longest time. My God I was shook. They have the most intense chemistry, so much was flowing between them in that scene without exchanging a single word. And then – Got it. It was like some secret father-son code exchange that happened, that we were privy to, but didn’t understand until later when Juggie called Betty to tell her he knew his dad was hiding something.
So I’m assuming this part of FPs story is true because it’s being told by Joaquin as well. Obstruction of justice is an offence, though I’m not sure perjury counts because he wasn’t actually lying under oath.
I assume that shot of FP reaching something with a cloth in his hand is actually him covering the camera? The same one that recorded Cliff shooting Jason?
Kevin being all shocked at Joaquin and calling him a criminal- I was like, dude-  did you not know who you were dating? He’s a Serpent for Chrissake!
Ronnie now begins to annoy me with her obsession with her dad being in the middle of everything. Why?
Okay when Juggie calls Betty from I assume the station his eyes follow a man in a hat who’s walking away with something (a file?) under his arm. Is this supposed to be significant?
So Mustang is dead. Was it an overdose or did Cliff kill him? Because he was blackmailing him? Also the bag they found was similar to the one Hermione gave to the Mayor. So how did it come to be with Mustang? Is she mixed up in this too?
Is Archie actually crying when Fred tells him in the car that he’s trying to protect him and doing his job bcos it’s the only one that counts?
I maybe dim but what happened that made Hermione break down like that? Was she surprised the bag was found next to a murdered man? Did she think Hiram was responsible for killing Mustang? Or Jason? Or both? Or was she just worried for Ronnie and what her snooping is leading to? Is she just now realizing what a dangerous man she’s married to?
Now this is what I mean by deus ex machinas in this episode, just conevenient little coincidences that happen and just everything leads neatly to the murderer? Like Joaquin suddenly deciding to tell Kevin about the bag he’d stashed away? Or that FP had a recording of the murder that he saved on a USB? Or that Betty had a brainwave that told her something was missing? – okay maybe that last one was logical reasoning because why would a jacket be so precious that he had to hide it away? Still, the whole lead up to the reveal felt pretty – unsatisfactory?
Okay, Betty says who’s he protecting and the shot shifts to Penelope. I must admit for a moment I thought it might be her. But really she knew too much about her husband and the things he was doing, the fact that Jason didn’t want any of it and that he threw the ring on their face. How could she not suspect Cliff even a little? Or was she afraid to? Like Cheryl? Who knew something was off and FP was not the real killer? She knew about the drug business. She knew Jason couldn’t stomach it. She knew Cliff was upset about it. I see where Cheryl gets her extra –ness from, Penelope is just too dramatic. She dragged Cheryl right to the barn, and then said – drown in it, why don’t you? Does she really think its syrup? Does she not know the truth?
Okay they ruled out Hal and Hermione, but not Hiram? He was in prison, no? Or they believe he orchestrated it through someone like Ronnie does? He couldn’t have actually held the gun that killed Jason.
I know what you’re going to say, mom
They found another body
Okay, maybe not that – lol
Sheriff Clueless – lmao. But Alice doesn’t think they’ve got the right person? She was all aboard the FP is guilty train and suddenly she thinks the bow is too tidy?
What was FPs contingency plan with Joaquin? Did he also tell him to flee Riverdale if he got arrested? Déjà vu – the exact same spot the car was! And the same place they found the jacket before! That got me thinking - who put the car there? Was it Jason or FP? If FP knew where the car was why didn’t he torch it before? Was he following Bughead hoping they’d lead him to the car? How did he know they would? Arrggh so many questions!
Ahh Ronnie is convinced it was her dad too, but she seems much too calm dealing with that realization. I love how Betty takes one look at Juggie’s dejected face and immediately her Nancy Drew senses begin to tingle. Girl wants so bad to help her bae!
I still don’t get why Archie had to wear the jacket for Betty to look into the pockets but it was worth it to see befuddled Archie standing there like a mannequin while Betty got her sleuth on. Voila – there’s the USD aaannnnndd very conveniently, the murder all taped and saved in HD quality mp4 - okay maybe not, but you get what I mean!
Cheryl was so eerily calm when she got Betty’s call, like she almost expected it.  I noticed that Archie actually covered his mouth when they showed us the kids reacting to the video the second time round. Did they film that twice?
Okay so when is later? When did they learn why FP confessed – to protect Jughead? Did he come right out and say it? Did he tell Juggie or Keller? Of all the charges Keller was stating off the top of his head, perjury doesn’t really quality, he wasn’t under oath, was he?
I love fierce and passionate Juggie, took me back to when he was arguing his case with the Mayor about the drive-in. Archie wanting to stay because his friends need him was so heartwarming. This is the Archie Andrews I want to see, not the selfish, needy fuckboy we’ve been shown thus far.
I found Penelope and Cheryl creepily directing the Sheriff to the barn so weird and so suggestive of foul play. Almost as though they knew what happened bcos they made it happen. Whydonit will be in the next episode, but really , the reveal was so underwhelming for me (mostly because of that Madelaine spoiler that Cheryl would be ruined) that it felt like a cop-out. They went with the safest choice. No one will miss Cliff Blossom, his being the killer or being dead isn’t going to impact anyone except Cheryl  and perhaps Penelope, and that feels a bit hollow somehow. Too tidy, as Alice would say. The reason why he did it seems pretty straightforward too – Jason wouldn’t cooperate and maybe he threatened to expose his dad, so he had to be killed, Unless they surprise us with another quite different reason. I somehow don’t think so.

Dunlap & Li: POV: Cate Dunlap
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jordan Li is one of my friends, probably my only friend, with the affair I've been with having Andre, that leave them as my only friend.
Freshman Year:
They don't know this, but I love them. They were the first one in my class to ever approach me. We were both scared shitless freshmen, afraid of our own powers. I opened up about my guilt for killing my brother, but Jordan said that didn't matter, I was an innocent kid. Jordan shared their struggle with me about their gender identity. I don't understand what it's like to be transgender or non-binary or whatever they are, but all I know they seem like a good person. I always encourage them to shift genders when it's me and them. I was locked up for so long and Jordan never got the chance to be a girl very often, so we explored what it's like to be women together.
Sophomore Year:
My sophomore year, I was deeply involved with alot. I had to do Shetty's bidding, manage Luke with the experiments being done to him, and enter my affair with Andre out of stress and release. Luckily I still had Jordan with me and they were more happy, being able to switch from male to female more openly now. But one day, after The Woods security had gotten Luke back into the Woods, Jordan came up to me as female, and told me that Brink made them his TA for stopping Luke. On one hand I knew this was dangerous for Jordan because of the things that happens down there. But on the other hand I couldn't say anything, I just wanted Jordan to get the glory that they deserved. Things got hard since their parents were still shitting on them for switching gender. Luckily, I managed to help them cope with it every time. Together, me, Jordan, Luke and Andre became close. While I felt trapped with my relationships with Luke and Andre, Jordan was the one true good thing in my life.
Junior Year:
Junior Year, I felt it was gonna be the greatest time of my life. Luke, Jordan, and Andre were the top 3, managing Luke was going smoothly, and I stopped my affair with Andre. I was going to be Luke's manager despite all the potential for him. I just befriended a freshman, Marie Moreau. But I knew it's gonna happen, Luke snapped. He killed Brink then ended his life. I grew detached from Luke a bit, but I still love him, especially what I've been doing. Jordan had lost their mentor so I had expressed my condolences to him. At the gala, after I again hooked up with Andre it was weird. But I cleared my head by helping Jordan, who again opened up about their struggle about their parents once again. We even bonded with Marie. When Andre got himself in more trouble, I was relieved that Jordan was being reasonable. When Sam was at Cardosa, I had work quickly wipe everyone's minds clean, even Jordan's. Once Jordan and the rest  came to their senses, I tried to play my part, even acknowledging how they and Marie would be a good couple. But eventually I was done lying about the truth. After I gave Andre's his memories back, I did Jordan, they looked absolutely pissed at me. After giving back Marie and Emma's memories, my ability to read thought resurfaced, I could hear the anger and pain that Jordan was feeling, I didn't know what I wanted to do. After my seizure and brief coma, Jordan and others came to my own mind. After he got out, I was quickly attacked by Sam. Jordan tried to help, But eventually things calmed down. Jordan agreed to work with me. Jordan is still angry at me for what I did. After I found out what Shetty was going to do, I decided to take charge to protect my friends, including Jordan. Jordan tried to stop me and Sam, but quickly fell for Sam's intimidating presence and Marie's words. As I freed and the woods my plan was Andre, Marie, and Jordan trying to prevent anything I had to witness Jordan get attacked, knowing they could survive. After Marie and Jordan killed the Woods, I had to try to get to them. I don't want to hurt them, but I need them taken off, take things I knew Marie had blown my arm. As Homelander came and attacked Marie, I watched him get Jordan captured too .
