@smuckygoobs ur aesthetic
"Ok, ma'am that'll be $226.03."
I take my wallet out of my pocket and unfold it. It is empty other than a single moth that lazily flies out. The moth lands on the tap point of the card reader. There's a beat, and my payment is processed. The moth flies back into my wallet and I put it back in my pocket.

I've been curious about this for awhile now, and with a re-surge of the "hey you know you tumblr doesn't have an algorithm and you need to reblog things here if you want to see more of stuff and/or support creators" posts I think I'll finally make a poll to test a theory, Which is that: 1) Where you came from before tumblr has a heavy influence on if you reblog posts or not and 2) That the decline in reblogs has come from a influx of users from other social media over the recent years who were conditioned to interact with 'content' in a "more passive consumption, less community-interaction" way. So, whether you reblog posts or not- I want to know where you came from before tumblr
[Clarification: For the purposes of this poll, "do reblog" refers to if you often reblog the posts that you enjoy. This doesn't mean that you reblog every single post that comes on your dash- just that you reblog posts more than you hit the Like button and/or you regularly also reblog posts that you hit the Like button for. If you rarely reblog (i.e: you exclusively hit the Like button on more posts than you reblog, and/or have an empty blog), then please choose "don't reblog"]
Also, obligatory, "Please reblog for larger sample size" Because: science

Btw, I heard it throught the grapevine that some of you out there don't like to reblog because tagging is so complicated and annoying.
Well, good news, you don't have to tag your reblogs.
Tags on reblogs are just for
your personal filing system (basically it makes it easier for you and/or other people to find shit on your blog)
trigger or general warnings
RAMBLING
Reblogs don't show up in the tags, only original posts.
So, reblog to your heart's content. Please do. I promise, there's a 99,67345% chance OP will love you for it :)

this is incredible. i was going through withdrawals after finishing the show and this fixed me for today
if house md were running in 2024 there would be an episode with a patient who identifies as an ‘online content creator’ (cagily) where house agrees to take the case primarily because when he offhandedly refers to her as an onlyfans model both cameron and cuddy get really offended and say it’s a sexist assumption so he doubles down and becomes committed to finding the patient’s onlyfans and proving it. at some point it would be revealed that chase actually is an onlyfans model and started doing it as a stopgap after his dad died and he suddenly got disinherited but he makes so much money off it that now medicine is basically just a hobby. cameron and foreman both disagree with the concept online sex work but it turns out they disagree for different reasons (cameron thinks it’s exploitative and not-feminist, foreman finds it distasteful and thinks people should get ‘real jobs’) and spend most of their scenes together arguing about this while chase gets continually more shifty. they break into the patient’s house and there’s a full ringlight and camera setup which seems to confirm house’s suspicions. while trying to find the patient’s onlyfans house accidentally finds chase’s onlyfans instead and considers publicly embarrassing him about it like he did with wilson’s sex tape but soon realises that most of the staff at the hospital are already subscribed to chase’s onlyfans so makes fun of him for that instead. it then transpires that the reason why the patient is so cagey about being a content creator is that she’s an ASMR artist and all the soap she’s been shaving on camera has irritated her lungs. cuddy is about to make house give her 20 extra hours of clinic duty as recompense but at last minute it’s revealed that the website the patient uses for some of her bonus commissions is, drumroll…onlyfans, because she’s been banned from patreon. how does house know this? wilson is subscribed to her because the soap videos sometimes soothe him to sleep. something by cigarettes after sex plays. roll end credits.

as a somewhat bigger artblog now it's easier for me to get some reach but there's sooo many incredible artists whose posts get lost in the void bc not many people reblog stuff anymore. Liking a post doesn't do anything to get a post seen by more people !
support creators ! reblog a post 👍
#i am extremely grateful for every like and reblog i get#i love going on tumblr and reading everyone's lovely tags and they make me so so happy !!!#but the likes/reblog ratio has been getting worse and worse :(#reblogs

font reviews based on how good :3 looks
Arial: Classic font, looks good for the most part, but a little bit bland also. 6/10
Berlin Sans FB: There's already a lot more character, but the mouth is simply too long and the lips don't curl enough which takes away from the experience. 4/10
Comic Sans MS: Now THAT'S a colon-three. There's so much silliness in that face it's hard to bear. My only real critique is that the eyes are just a smidge too narrow, but that's just a nitpick more than anything. 8/10
Courier New: Sleek. Professional. Big vertical eyes full of glee. Very solid choice for a colon-three font. 7/10
Jokerman: I feel bad for including this one. That font stood no chance against the others. This is the eldritch horror of colon-threes. These eyes are filled with nothing except murderous intent. The mouth is crooked with a sharp corner, but the most egregious part is probably the teeth-like protrustions from the bottom part of the mouth. 0/10
Goudy Stout: An interesting take on colon-three. I like the idea of having an incredibly thick mouth (even if it's a bit too thick for my liking), and the eyes being big and centered is a big positive. Much sillier than most fonts, but I think struggles to beat Comic Sans in terms of silliness. 6/10
Consolas: Worse version of Courier New. The lips just don't curl enough and it just ends up looking a little pathetic. 4/10
Fixedsys: Oh my god. Holy shit. What the fuck. 10/10

Posts are too popular? Worry not. Consider your notifications covered.
Sound familiar?
Broken the internet with a post? We love that for you. What we love a little less is the barrage of likes and reblogs you have probably received. This can be a little intense. A bit much. Stressful, even. And unnecessarily so.
If your post has gone stratospheric, but you don’t want to completely mute notifications for it, we are working on something that might just help. We are experimenting with grouping your push notifications from anyone you don’t follow into neat, occasional summaries. This will roll out to a small number of you, first as an A/B test, for a limited time.
Why are we doing this?
We hope to steady, streamline, and calm your Tumblr experience when you’re grappling with overwhelming notifications from a popular post or reblog. The goal here is to reduce overload so you can receive the notifications you care about the most—while keeping up to speed with everything else.
In July, you may remember that we turned on post-level muting on the web. We also extended muting to affect your activity feed, as well as your push notifications. This feature is the next step in managing notification overload—one that will make your devices a little more peaceful and, hopefully, work a little more proactively against the problem.
Before and after:
Feedback?
We’re all ears. Let us know what you think in the replies—we would love to hear from you. And we will be back in touch with updates on this test in the near future.

Pros of reblogging:
You get to keep a copy of that post FOREVER. Tumblr is not like Twitter in that if OP deletes the original post, all the shared versions of the post will be deleted as well. This is how Tumblr still has posts from 100000 years ago circulating around.
You get to classify posts with your own tagging system. It makes finding things easier. Searching a blog using tags is also more reliable than searching with keywords.
You get to leave comments in the tags of the reblog! It’s handy when you wanna react to the post but are too shy to talk to OP and/or others in the reblog chain.
You get an archive/scrapbook of all the things you like, which you can then showcase with pretty custom themes.
You get to identify as part of a community. Among fandom blogs, fellow fans will know you’re one of them if you actually reblog things. Any outsider can leave a like, but it takes a fan or someone really interested in something to dare to reblog.
You get to make friends! People follow other people based on what their blog is like. If your blog is empty, then what’s the point of following you?
You give the impression that you care about what other people say, and it will make others look at you more nicely (empty blogs can be suspicious).
You are less likely to be blocked by artists/writers. (I’ve seen some posts from artists/writers saying that they’ll block spam likers.)
You are less likely to be mistaken as a bot or a creep (again, empty blogs are sus).
