Galehaut/Lancelot One-Shot

(Kind of outside the story since it's during the False Guinevere plot)

"Guin told me what you promised, you know?"

Galehaut freezes as he hears Lancelot's words, "I'm sorry?"

"She told me how you promised to fight for her. How you promised to die for her. I knew you two were friends, but I did not know you held such fervent loyalty to her." Lancelot could not keep the amazement from their voice.

Galehaut struggled to respond for a minute before quietly replying, "…I don't"

Now Lancelot was confused, "what?"

Galehaut stood straighter as his voice got firmer, "I don't hold such loyalty to her. I consider her a dear friend, of that there is no doubt. And I like to think I would still help her in her time of need no matter what, but I cannot deny that she is not the main reason I am doing this.

Lance couldn't help but be surprised at the sudden passion in Galehaut's words, "Then what is?"

Galehaut just gave a tired smile. "You, Lancelot. What else?" he laughed quietly as he spoke, "It's always you."

They weren't sure how to respond, "I'm afraid I don't know what you mean…?"

"You love her." As they opened their mouth to dispute it, Galehaut went on, "No. Don't deny it. I'm not here to claim what form that love takes, but it cannot be denied that you do love Guinevere deeply. Why else would you do all of this?" Galehaut asked incredulously and he gestured around, "Give up your life's dream just to save her. Just for the principal of the wrong done to her. I won't guess at what way, but you do love her. And I…" he hesitated before he stood straighter and looked Lancelot in the eye, "I love you, Lance."

Lancelot could only stare as they struggled for how to respond. Galehaut decided to keep going.

"I've loved you for so long. Surely you've noticed." He let out a self-deprecating chuckle, "the rest of Camelot certainly has."

I am gonna get hate for this but personally I feel it's overrated. I can see why it was and is still liked so much, (rivals-to-lovers and water-and-fire, red-and-blue and opposites attract are like staple in shipping side) and don't get me wrong some shippers have made some genuinely incredible pieces of work around this ship, but it's also like fandom treats it like this ultimate example of queerbait when in truth in canon it was barely developed.

And maybe it's because I personally dislike K3ith's character and the way the show prioritised his character over everything including the plot but for me the few canon moments that are there are only to benefit K3ith's character. Which brings to my second opinion which is that I don't get this insistence that canon KL could have fixed vld. Cause like no, almost all of the problems in this show happened because of just god awful mismanagement, writers and eps very obvious racism, misogyny, and ableism, and the fact that they shat out 8 seasons in merely 2 years.

Insisting that the only thing wrong with the show was a fanon ship not becoming canon (whether it be KL or let's be most of the mlm K3ith ships because no way the writers would have let their precious self insert be interested in men, especially male characters of colour they love to humiliate and kill) just ignores all the terrible ways they managed to fuck up such a diverse cast. Even if kl were to become canon what's more likely to happen was Lnce being reduced to K3ith's damsel in distress therapist boyfriend who ends up getting killed for K3ith's development.

So yeah, I admit i used to like this ship, but i have grown tired of it both because it's Everywhere and because I have lost interest in shipping in general. I still enjoy it time to time, but overall meh ship, Lnce can do and deserves better/j

(This isn't me hating on the shippers btw, if you are a kl shipper reading this-do whatever you want pal! as long you all are minding your business and not sending death threats over stupid ships literally just do whatever you want)

It was very motivating, in the sense that I finished the work and blocked that user from reading

Please, for the love of god, please don’t be this person. No matter how long it’s been since an update, no matter how many unfinished stories are sitting on their account, no matter what - do not be this person.

Not only is it insanely rude, but you also do more damage than you think be being such a self-entitled ass about something someone created for free and for fun. “This author” can see what you say.

yes; my first thought was hazel jiang (april showers), but a lot of them apply! like pretty much the whole casts of lnce & hands down (pretty much their whole thing [talking about both casts] is committing crimes)

that is... a lot of them... BUT let's go with radomiła gwózdek (teott). came to the united states from poland in the 1880s i think? child labor time. hand cut off (sad!). btw her parents pretty bad. ran away from home due to a combination of factors.

that's pretty much it for backstory. other unfortunate things happen to her later.
