First, the general mechanics:

Arthropod fighting game

A 2D 1-v-1 fighting game where all the playable characters are arthropods. I'm taking a bit of inspiration from Fantasy Strike and DNF Duel in terms of basic mechanics.

Using numpad notation facing right, press 7/8/9 to jump backward, up, or forward. Press 2 to crouch. Hold 4 to Block High-Mid, hold 1 to Block Mid-Low. Press 6 to Parry High-Mid. Press 3 to Parry Mid-Low.

Characters have 8 to 12 HP based on size, with 10 being average. Most moves do 1 damage, some do 2+ damage.

Compared to other fighting games, the basic movement speed is very fast and the jump height is very high. The camera is fairly zoomed out.

There are 3 bars of meter, which fills over time or when you Block or Parry moves.

There are 6 buttons: Light, Heavy, Special, Super, Ultimate, and Grab.

Light is your standard basic attack.

Heavy is a stronger and slower basic attack.

Special does a unique move.

Super does a strong unique move that costs 1 bar of meter.

Ultimate does a very strong cinematic move that costs 2 bars of meter.

Grab performs an unblockable short-range move that can be tech'd, returning both players to neutral. 6Grab is what you press to tech a Grab. 4Grab performs a Taunt, which is a non-damaging move that, if completed without being interrupted, either buffs your character or debuffs the opponent.

Most characters have Command Moves done by holding 6 or 4 while pressing a button. 4 moves tend to be defensive while 6 moves tend to be offensive.

I think this could be really cool as a real game, if anyone is interested in coding for this, reach out!

scenario: youve been tasked with picking the roster of an arthropod fighting game. theres only 10 slots. what 10 species do you pick

Dragon Mantis: a mantis is obligatory in general and this is one of the flashiest.

Bird Eating Spider: the largest tarantula also feels like a given, for a kind of slower tankish fighter with venom, webbing, and urticating hairs. Could also have moves incorporating a goliath spider's pet frogs :)

Cuckoo Wasp: a wasp is a given too but I pick this for being pretty and being able to roll up into an armored little ball.

Darwin's Beetle: mostly because people would just demand one of the armored big-horned beetles and I think this is the coolest looking one. Even slower than the tarantula with few gimmicks but very durable.

House Centipede: they're infamous for looking weird, there should be at least one myriapod and it could be a good "glass cannon" fighter because they're pretty delicate and drop their legs easily. Could actually shed a led to escape any grapple type attacks until it runs out of them.

Ant Queen: slow and vulnerable but moves are performed by the workers. An alternate skin could be a blue butterfly caterpillar.

Biting Midge: some midges actually suck the blood of other arthropods so this would be a super small evasive fighter that isn't very strong but replenishes its own health.

Velvet Worm: the projectile attack specialist.

Vinegaroon: between a projectile one and slower armored heavy hitter

Mole cricket: I feel like this would be fun and unexpected, able to go underground as well as fly and use a sonic attack.

Sábado 14 de septiembre a las 8 a.m., playa del norte en Hossegor (Francia). Una silueta en la cima de la duna observa la playa. No es un surfista quien revisa las olas, y no es una tabla que está sosteniendo bajo su brazo. Es un piloto, equipado con su casco que observa la textura de la arena.

En dos horas comenzarán 12 pilotos en la cuarta edición del SandRace of Mot & Arts. Durante una hora, los pilotos invitados harán que sus motores rujan para desafiar la arena de Hossegor. Todo el equipo de 5Special, con Sito Vázquez y su BMW Paris-Dakar, Lucia Vázquez y su máquina Flat track 250XS y los dos pilotos franceses del Campeonato Francés Flat track, Thomas Foreau y Olivier Cabanne se enfrentaron en un ambiente relajado para deleitar al público que, sobre la duna, observó estos duelos con una inmejorable decoración, el océano. Las máquinas son diversas y variadas, Regis Guyot asegura el espectáculo con un Husqvarna 360, Olivier Tahar, Emd Workers, que superó los límites de un Harley-Davidson Knuclehead de 1946, Paul Duvignau Shaper de Hossegor Surfboards con un Honda XL600 y Ruleshaker con su Suzuki TS400 modificada.

Entre todos sus pilotos, recordaremos las confrontaciones de dos Honda Africa Twin, dos generaciones con más de 30 años de diferencia, Julien Escande y Thomas Cholou, el equipo de Wollbeer, dejarán una muestra de African Rally-Raid, en un ballet que también requiere tanto técnica como coraje y resistencia.

Esta exposición, única en Francia, es parte de las animaciones excepcionales del festival Mot & Arts, organizado por cuarta vez para la asociación Hapchot Wheels.

Este grupo, de cinco amigos moteros, hizo la apuesta, hace también cinco años, de proponer un festival gratuito, reuniendo en un entorno excepcional, un pueblo de artistas y expositores, una exposición artística en los salones del casino de Hossegor y conciertos durante todo el día que tendrían lugar en el techo de un autobús.

Entre la demostración de Skate, Bmx, el público disfrutó, durante todo un fin de semana soleado, de la dulzura de la vida en el balneario del suroeste de Francia.

Visitantes, familias enteras o bikers apasionados se mezclan y se reúnen alrededor de motocicletas excepcionales, autos estadounidenses que deambulan por el parque Rosny, disfrutan de los food trucks o hablan sobre los sonidos de las guitarras. La novedad de esta edición de 2019, que tuvo lugar el viernes 13 de septiembre, fue la incorporación de un curso rápido sobre la pista plana del campo de petanca de la ciudad vecina. Encontramos a Serges Nuques (piloto multidisciplinario, campeón de enduro y entrenador en circuito), Lucas Mahias (campeón mundial Supersport 2017), Laurent Sanquer (aturdidor profesional) o Audrey Dupuy, la única mujer piloto de carreras francesa, y quien disputa con éxito el Campeonato de Europa.

En los potreros, intercambiamos las técnicas, contamos historias sobre sus respectivas disciplinas, observamos las motocicletas atípicas reunidas para la ocasión. Entre las máquinas presentes, destacamos la Fantic Caballero de Thomas Foreau, la montesa 360 de Unai Aguirre, Bronco Garage, así como la 425 IT de Sito Vázquez, 5 especial, cuyo eco del motor de dos tiempos resonó durante mucho tiempo en el bosque de las Landas. Esta exposición, apoyada por Indian Motorcycle Biarritz, ha mostrado al público la dificultad de dominar el deslizamiento de una motocicleta, el manejo de la aceleración fuera de curva, y todo en un ambiente excepcionalmente relajado y amable.

La amplia sonrisa en la cara de todos los pilotos, mezclada con la euforia de pasar un momento de intercambios y diversiones, se prolongó todo el fin de semana, hasta el cierre del festival con el último concierto del grupo de Hackers en el techo de su famoso autobús mientras que la puesta de sol descansaba en el lado mágico del momento.

Eventually, sleep won the battle over her turbulent mind and she succumbed to its call. It was as she slept that her face relaxed and her mind began to picture a different type of future, one she only dared to slip into when asleep, a future with her boy with the bread. Katniss dreamt that the day of the reaping it was Peeta’s name called, not Rye’s.
