You Aren’t The Main Character, And thats okay!

I have a friend irl who found out about shifting a few years ago like most of us but wasnt sure about it. She mentioned it to me around October of 2023 & i told her about how i had ran multiple different accounts on shifting & had DRs myself, after that we talking about it on and off before we both started to lose motivation.

Recently she mentioned it to me again and asked har i done any more updates to my DRs and i said “yeah but im struggling on how to make it about me” (talking about my vampire diaries dr specifically) this sparked up a conversation on why we all felt like we needed to be at the center of our desired realities even in darker settings where being the main basically means having your life in danger at all times.

The problem of course is i love the vampire diaries universe & its characters but trying to add yourself into the storyline is basically impossible with a character so obviously meant to be the main character like Elena Gilbert (this isnt just a tvd problem of course i had this issue with my Supernatural dr & Harry potter.

My friend, iris, made me realize did i want to be in the world & experience these places or did i want to be fauned over and be in the center of everything? And maybe our main character syndrome holds us back from shifting, the entitlement could be the very thing blocking a lot of us from being able to shift. Idk

Long story short (not really) i think we should step back and realize that our drs are real lives too & trying to force ourselves into a narrative of always being in the center of the universe will do nothing but drag us down. Anyways, good luck !
