Yo. This is where I hope to put my gradual progress of my creative aspirations. After playing Undertale, and seeing what various other people could do with a little bit of dedication and hard work, I decided that I would try to create something great myself. As such, this blog will host my progress in music, art, and other misc. things that I decide to try out. Thanks a ton for checking me out, and I hope you enjoy my content! Now in college as a music composition major, in my freshman year.

A transcription of peach gardens from Mario Kart DS

Wanted to see what made it so bouncy, and give it such a “light” feel. From what I can tell it heavily stems from the movement of the bass line, the upbeat tempo, the heavy use of syncopated rhythms, and the use of an accordion as its leading instrument.
In the first section, a Imaj7, -, ii7, V7 progression leads the melody predominantly. In the second section however, the composer surprises the listener first with a key change from G major to F major, and again when instead of following his previous progression of Imaj7, -, ii7, V7, he adds interest by changing to a I, II7, vi7 IV, ii, progression.
Again, he alters expectations by changing the key to D major for a phrase (following an Imaj7, IVmaj7, I, - progression) brightening the tone before transitioning to an C minor 13 chord for 2 measures and ending on a suspended A diminished 7 chord to A7 chord (without the third).
The transitional sections are also quite interesting, as the composer uses a bVII, V, I, to diminished iii progression, and a bVII, iii, diminished i, to IV7 progression during the first and second ending respectively. The use of a flat seven chord is quite interesting to me, and I don’t know too much about it. The flat seven chord seems to just be acting as a v7 chord the first time, while the second time it seems to act as a transitional device into the F major key the second time.
The diminished i chord in the 30th measure seems weird, but it’s acting as a tritone substitution of the IV Bb chord in F major, after a natural iv b minor chord, giving a chromatically descending passage that’s hidden behind a substitution. I believe that the composer does this to spice up the transition, because he could’ve used a bVII, - , i, IV7 to the same effect as before. Instead he replaced the middle 2 measures with the iii and diminished i to add flavor, which gives the song a jazzier feel.
Author’s Note: the analysis of this piece works just as well in 3/4 time, I just chose 6/8 time because it was easier to transcribe that way.

Turns out I don't have to do casino stuff. Take a watercolour and crayon piece instead. Made using a concentric pattern; an 8th of a circle, putting a pattern on it, then replicating it over for the rest of the circle. Tried a lot of new stuff on this one; using salt, crayons (10/10 would suggest using it in future pieces), and various new brush techniques. If anyone wants a better picture of it I can try scanning it in the future and posting that version of it.

Where have I been you might not be wondering? Really neglecting what I really want to do that's what! Jokes aside though, here's some artworks I've done over the past monthish for art. First chalk, collage, and watercolor pieces I've done on these. All we're enjoyable to do. What can you expect in the future? Like 9 more casino related works for art. In addition, I really want to do more personal music and art, however, I've been catching myself in the "I don't know what to do when I start" every time, and always end up disappointed after 5-15 minutes of sitting there doing very little. Sad days; hopefully I can get over myself and do something. Regardless of my pessimism, hope you like the artworks.

I drew the Dota 2 hero Underlord’s head. Turned out subpar imo, but eh, I figured I’d post it anyways. Took about 3 and a half hours, and used a picture as a reference. Thought some of the brush stuff I did was pretty neat, and I liked the “fuzzy” boarder that happened, so at least I have that going for it.
