he lifts his brows once the person tells him that they weren't sure they've met before, once again, here he was unintentionally making himself look like a weirdo in public. thankfully, he was already used to making a fool out of himself so hari was already familiarised with ways to get out of this potentially awkward situation and potentially make a new friend or let them get on with their day. "oh! i'm so sorry about that." he chuckles nervously. "i have this terrible habit of thinking i know people if i feel like they're looking at me, which you probably even weren't." he adds, waving his hands about dismissively. he can't help but notice the other's eyes looking at his book and decides to change the subject for the sake of not ruining this interaction. "my name's hari. if we haven't met before then it's very nice to meet you now, alina! -- are you familiar with this book? i just started it."
they really needed to get some sort of coffee-maker installed or soon the café would think she was trying to take over.it had been one of those long mornings when they had stumbled into the café with the hopes of getting the largest iced Frappuccino one could find and just to look at the cats. they were JUST looking – maybe if they kept telling herself that it’d be true.
it was while waiting in line did her vision stray over the human sitting reading a book they had been itching to get their hands on. “OH” they stuttered not realizing they were staring - “My name’s Alina, I’m not actually sure that we’ve met before?”

margaux laughs quietly to herself at the boy's warning, she had never seen him in the store before and she had pretty good memory when it came to remember people's faces so she assumed he was a new potential customer. cases of theft weren't exactly a normal occurrence at the third eye, so it wasn't really a concern for the staff there. however, she was pretty bored right now so she figured she could poke some fun at him for her own entertainment. "you know, --" she chimes, walking over to the newcomer. "when people have no intentions of stealing they don't usually announce they're not doing that." she adds, leaning against one of the shelves next to him. "do you know what we do to thieves around here?" she asks, trying to remain as serious as she possible can. "we turn them into mice, and then feed them to the pet snake we have in our staff room." she whispers eerily whilst theatrically covering one side of her mouth, motioning towards a door that says personnel only. at this point she had to stifle her laughter, but on the inside she was absolutely losing it.
Though Phoenix was knowledgeable about astronomy, he knew next to nothing about astrology. Perhaps that was why The Third Eye intrigued him. He hadn’t been, couldn’t justify a reading, but it was fun to look around. Stepping inside, he had walked straight to the crystals when he heard a voice welcoming him in. “Don’t worry, I’m not stealing!” he called out.

he felt like a teenager again. it wasn't very often that hari let loose and allowed his more boyish immature side to come out, but then again, it wasn't like he was raised around predominantly women when he was growing up which he didn't think was a bad thing at all. but it did make him different, more sensitive than society would like him to be, but he's always liked being that way. due to this, it was difficult for him to pursue friendships with other boys seeing as he would always be greeted with judgement and mockery which he had never let get to and let alone change him but he admitted that it got a bit lonely sometimes.
so when he moved to denver and met marco, he was extremely happy that they had organically built a brotherly bond and could act foolishly together like this when they could both escape their mundane responsibilities. obviously, when the opportunity to play bowling, arcade games and knock some beers back he was quick to jump at it but he never thought he'd get this blazed before they even went in the venue. he was already a terrible bowler sober, he can only imagine what absolute clownery was going to unfold after this. "honestly, i think you are well aware of the embarrassing shit i do without even thinking." he laughs, accepting the joint bringing it to his lips and inhaling deeply. "i don't even know, --" he exhales, scratching his chin as he paused to think as if this wasn't something that happened recently. "i had to get out of there, like, everyone was staring at me with evil eyes for interrupting their class and i couldn't possibly brush it off and do a lamaze class on my own." he laughs, taking another puff before returning it to marcus. "i just wanted to go to my fucking pottery class and be happy, man!"
@sumthingscosmic // hari, laser lanes parking lot
it wasn't in marco's agenda for the night to end up outside the bowling alley with an old friend and various fried finger foods, yet when the opportunity arose, he found himself agreeing nearly instantaneously. with the kids away for the week and no other plans, he didn't see why he shouldn't go have a night of fun. he was no stranger to letting life take him by the horns, not the other way around, so he'd decided tonight would be about letting loose, allowing himself to relax. what better way than bowling and beer?
smoke and laughter intertwined in the air of marco's truck as he followed his friend's recount of his weekend. "there's no fucking way you actually did that," he managed to get out between bouts of laughter, passing the joint between his finger and thumb. he wasn't confident that he'd be an adequate bowling opponent after this, but in the spirit of letting loose, he'd stopped at cloud 9 beforehand, anyways. there was nothing wrong with a little pregame, after all. "so, what happened after?"

hari smiles softly once marigold states that it was easy to clear her schedule to meet him today, they'd known each other long enough that he had listened to enough nightmare stories of how late she'd have to stay at work just to catch up with her cases and he'd also witnessed that whenever he offered to bring her food and coffee. "well, i appreciate it regardless of whether it was easy or not." he states intently; it felt nice that she didn't want him to feel bad about giving some of her time to him. funnily enough, just like he was when he insisted he hadn't been waiting on her that long. he thought they were more similar than they met the naked eye, but in many other ways they also complimented each other. "those are my thoughts exactly, but it doesn't really bother me when other people are late. in most cases, they are worth waiting for." he shrugs, in his head everyone who is important in his life deserves as much of his time as they need. which on one side was a good quality to have, but on the other sometimes ended up being kind of harmful for him.
he'd been to the antique shop many times before, it was one of his favourite places to go. he'd always been fascinated by vintage items, how they have survived the test of time and with it bring a tale. he'd only ever been on his own seeing as no one else he knew shared this interest, until he met marigold that is and being here with her in this moment feels different. strangely, it feels like this is a brand new experience for a reason that he can't really comprehend. sometimes he wonders if it's just a close friendship between them, or if he's just afraid of facing his true feelings and potentially risk being rejected because he believes that marigold's feelings towards him are simply platonic and that he probably isn't her type. "i accept other compliments but then it's just going to be a back and forth because you also deserve them." he retorts sincerely, he had multiple compliments for marigold that he sometimes found keeping to himself due to not wanting to make things weird between them or potentially making things weird. like for instance; how radiant he thought her smile was, how beautiful he thought she looked today and how she always effortlessly says the right thing.
"it's actually amazing how much faith you have in me." he laughs, placing his hand over his heart to demonstrate just how touched he was. he was quite proud of himself for being held in such regard by a woman he respected and cherished so much, hari wasn't quite sure what he had done to deserve it but sometimes his modesty can get the best of him. "once again, i am blown away by your vast knowledge but unfortunately i am afraid she would be able to provide you with plenty of evidence. hopefully, this scenario will never be fulfilled because i would actually pass away from embarrassment." he goes as far as cringing at the thought, being the younger sibling was always a gateway for the entire family to try and embarrass him in front of his friends whenever the opportunity arose and he would hate for marigold to find out all of the silly things he used to go as a kid. "lamps?" he chuckles at the suggestion, not in a malicious way or to mock her in any way just because it was so effortlessly perfect. this whole redecoration thing felt kind of heavy for hari, he was finally turning over a new leaf after his previous separation and starting with the smallest thing was a great first step. "that's perfect." he adds softly, following her into the section. "this is probably obvious, but i have literally no plan of action or idea of what i want the apartment to look like. i'm purely just going off the vibes, and you can just solemnly tell me if it's tacky. but also if you have any ideas, please share i am all ears!"
She waves his comment off. “It was easy to clear my schedule!” It isn’t, not really, but when could Marigold say no to Hari? If it’s a possibility, she hasn’t developed the skill to do it since she had met him. “Better to be early than to be late,” she reasons. Truthfully, Marigold didn’t understand his penchant for being early. She did her best, but most times, she would arrive right on time - only there by the skin of her teeth. She could understand the anxiety though. It was good for people watching and getting used to your bearings. Especially if you hadn’t come to somewhere she knew, but she suspected that Hari knew about this place.
It’s easy to be with Hari, almost easier than anyone she’s met. She doesn’t admit it aloud for fear of sounding too pushy. That’s something she worries about. She doesn’t want to ruin what they have because she has a simple crush on the other. It’s not worth it. “Am I supposed to stick with that, or do you accept other compliments?” she asks with a smile on her face.
That opinion wouldn’t sway her, no matter how long the power point was. Marigold shook her head, laughing softly. “Oh, I don’t think that would change my mind. I’m very firm in my choices,” she insists. “Unless she has evidence - and opinions aren’t very evidentiary!” It was practically the first thing she had learned in law school. It made sense that he didn’t know where to start. The whole thing was a bit overwhelming. Redecorating a whole place… Marigold may pick up one or two things for her house. Why not? It could be fun! “Let’s start with… lamps?” she suggests as she steps into that area.

she cups her own cheeks shyly once sage's compliment reaches her ears, eyes wandering upwards. "oh, stop that! -- you're going to make me blush and blow my mysterious spiritual shop clerk cover." margaux jokes, she thought she was anything but mysterious although sometimes she could come across that way seeing as she always seems to be lost in her own world. "in france we would say tu es três mignonne!" which translates into you are very cute. this was one of the many reasons she enjoyed speaking with sage, they both weren't locals from denver so it was good to connect with someone over having different backgrounds and swap expressions from their specific regions. "i know, right?! --" she huffs. "i guess everyone else is also working at this time, since it's not the weekend or anything." margaux adds, shrugging her shoulders. she laughs at sage's remark about the skulls, looking towards the one she's holding and bringing it to her eye level. "i'm not sure, to be honest, i don't think the ones we sell are real because it would be a bit unethical in that aspect. but i know of places that do. -- i'm guessing they were just used for science in the early days, and then just became relics." she muses, there's not really any scientific backing about this margaux is only assuming. "but i definitely agree with you! those would definitely be some iconic last words and personally i might appropriate them." she snorts, crinkling her nose whilst she looks at the other and then back at the skull. "what's your story?" she whispers to the skull playfully, widening her eyes in concentration as if she was going to get a response from the inanimate object.
welcoming kindship warmed their hear and their features, completely melting at the compliment of their approach. “you’re an absolute doll, you know that? my pappy would, without question, refer to you as a dollbaby, you just got this sweet spirit.” she hummed, thinking fondly of little sweet names from her region. they sighed softly into the shoulder pat and nodded, “i was about to combust in there, i needed some oddities and whimsy in my life asap after that.” with a quiet gasp her head shook, “i feel like nobody is out today – how are we living in a well-populated ghost town? the library was quiet at fuck today too.” looking to the skull, they moved to grab another one and held it up, “not to be morbid, but who was the original skull, y'think? might could it have been one sculpted by someone at random, or you ever think someone was like, ‘take my skull posthumous and mold it for the masses,’ because that’s such a power move.”

hari finds himself a little bit embarrassed for waving at this person once he's met with the confirmation that they had, in fact, never met before but he was definitely the kind of person who would wave at strangers if he felt like they were staring at him or even if he saw people waving his brain would automatically associate that it was at him. It was like this embarrassing little reflex, so he was already used to having to brush this off and hope the other person didn't think he was a total idiot. luckily, this person seemed like they were nice enough seeing as they sat across from him. so, who knows? this could be a friendship in the making, the best possible outcome from this very awkward interaction. his eyes squint as he leans forward to read the message on the other's screen, and he gives an understanding nod. "well then, this is very embarrassing for me. i do apologise." he chuckles, bringing his coffee to his lips. "in that case, welcome! this is my favourite place to chill, what are your thoughts so far? i love these little guys." he questions, as an attempt to make conversation and soon after he realises that he had missed the most important part of the interaction which was introducing himself. "oh yeah! -- my name's hari, it's very nice to meet you. sorry, i kind of forgot to introduce myself." he smiles sheepishly, holding his hand out for the other to shake.
It wasn’t that Owen didn’t like cats, he had just always been more of a dog person. Loved that he could take Lady out on adventures with him and well, he didn’t see himself doing such with a cat. So when a light drizzle stared to come down, he decided to duck into the cat café, finally deciding to give it a try. And if all else failed, he could grab a book and coffee at least. With a coffee in hand, Owen walked through the cat area, grinning as a few rubbed against his leg in greeting. Trying to find somewhere to sit so he could pet a few of them. Though the waving of a hand caught his attention and Owen turned to look at the other just in time as he began to talk. He furrowed his brow in concentration before giving a shake of his head- Pretty sure that they hadn’t met before. Owen pointed to one of the free chairs and moved to take a seat, setting his coffee down so he could reach for his phone. I don’t think we have- this is my first time in here. Owen typed quickly, turning it around to let the other read it.

margaux is notorious for being a bit ditsy and not recognising people straight away but once she hears the familiar voice that's greeting her, she turns around so she can have a proper look at sage. she's basically known them ever since she started working at the store part-time while she was doing her degree, they were practically one of the store's top customers. they were also friends with vince, so it made sense for the pair to become friends over time as well seeing as they were both interested in everything esoteric and had a lot of previous interesting chats about that. "well, if it isn't my favourite customer!" margaux beams, her eyes glimmering at the opportunity to have a conversation for the first time in what it seems like hours and makes her way to the counter to stand in front of sage. "woah, that sounds intense." margaux grimaces, patting the other's shoulder gently as an attempt to comfort them. "i'm actually really happy to see you because i, too, am in need of humanity. -- i think you're the first person to walk through that door in, like, forever. and vince is also not here at the moment, so this little guy has been my only company" she sighs, picking up one of the many skulls they have on display and chuckling as she wiggles it.
a place you wouldn’t find in sage’s hometown was probably her favorite place in all of denver; the third eye. once she caught word of it when she first came to town, she sheepishly went in and began her baby witch era – four years later she could walk in with familiar confidence and ease. ever since she and vince sparked a friendship, this building had become a familiar happening, not to mention it was a street over from the library and they could come in on lunch breaks or right after work. as their eyes settled on margaux a grin upturned their lips and their hand flew up into a wave. “howdy howdy, how goes it?” walking to the counter they casually looked around, but made it clear they were intent on at least catching up with the girl. “tell me about your day, please? i’ve just logged, like, two-hundred books into our system, i need humanity.” she gave the other a pitiful look, a pout fully in tact, “i crave more than the beeps of our system and clacks of the keyboard.”

starter for: everyone !! -- (@chqstarter) location: frisky kitty café
anyone who knows hari would tell you that his three favourite things are reading books with the cheesiest title you can possibly imagine regardless of whether they seem good or not, caffeine and cats. thankfully at this fine establishment he was able to indulge in all of these things all at once, which is why it was his preferred place when he wanted to relax and get a very strong serotonin boost. he actually spends so much of his free time here that he was pretty much familiarised with most of the cats and has even been thinking of adopting one, however, this thought has been going on for a while because he feels like if he chooses one then he might make the other cats sad. he’s sipping on his chai latte, flipping through the pages of his most recent read with one of the adorable fur balls on his lap. but his attention suddenly shifts from the book once he notices someone looking over at him but his memory is actually so bad he doesn’t immediately recognise them, but he still waves with a friendly smile. “sorry if this sounds incredibly rude of me, but my memory is actually lamentable these days. -- but, have we met before?”

starter for: everyone !! (@chqstarter) location: the third eye
margaux was dusting some shelves to keep herself busy, the smell of lavender incense filled the air and the playlist she had curated specifically for her shifts at the shop was playing softly in the background. it had been a bit of a slow day, much like any other day because for what reason would a psychic shop be busy? maybe before a much dreaded mercury retrograde since it was something that recently became one of the most feared events for humanity these days, as it should be if she was completely honest; the possibility of your ex trying to come back to your life or phone malfunctioning should give you the heebie-jeebies! it had been so peaceful that she nearly got a scare once the bell chimed due to someone opening the door, she turns around to the potential customer with a warm smile. “welcome to the third eye! please don’t be afraid to ask for help with any of the items in the store or if you booked an appointment with us today.”

He gives a gentle shake of his head once Marigold apologises to him about having him wait for her, the whole purpose of this white lie other than making him come across as someone who doesn’t have a panic attack whenever he has to meet someone because he doesn’t want to be late was mostly so she wouldn’t feel bad. “Don’t worry about it.” He reassures. “I know you’re a busy woman and I’m flattered that you could squeeze me in your schedule. -- Plus, it’s not your fault that my anxiety practically forces me to be ridiculously early when I have to meet someone.” Specially if he cares about the person he’s meeting, it’s not like she was that past the time they had agreed to gather plus Hari generally enjoys being outside and watching the different types of people that walk by so it wasn’t too boring for him. This way he also had time to rehearse potential conversations the pair could have, the last thing he wanted to do was bore her or make a fool out of himself. Even though the latter always happens accidentally anyway because being a goofball is just inherently in his nature.
He places his hand over his heart as an overdramatic demonstration of how flattered he was by her promise, giving a playful pout. “And I will keep appreciating it.” He retorts, although the tone of this conversation was playful Hari really meant what he said. He thought that kindness was a rare trait to have nowadays, albeit extremely necessary, he thought that people didn’t compliment each other enough or didn’t show appreciation for one another enough and he wondered when and why we ever stopped doing that. So, he really liked that his friendship with Marigold created a safe space for that and she was by far the kindest person he knew.
“That’s very sweet of you to say, but I feel like my sister would disagree with that statement and probably show you a powerpoint presentation with every time I’ve annoyed her in chronological order.” He laughs, it wasn’t like he was annoying on purpose but he did have the tendency to ramble a lot specially when nervous and he guesses that growing up that got on his sister’s nerves quite often which he can’t really blame her for. Even Hari himself wishes that he could keep his thoughts to himself but that, unfortunately, was not in his nature. “Patience is definitely one of your many virtues.” He agrees, he couldn’t possibly imagine what it was like to have the same career as Marigold but he definitely admired her endurance when it came to dealing with such heavy matters. “To be honest with you, I literally have no idea.” He shrugs as his eyes wander around, organisation and planning weren’t necessarily his strong suit seeing as he wasn’t really a rational person which is why he figured Marigold could help him out with this. “I don’t really have a set plan of where I’m starting since I’m re-decorating the whole apartment, I was just going to see what speaks to me first.” He laughs at himself, it feels a bit silly saying that out loud but he makes most of the decisions pertaining to his life based on intuition so in his head it made sense. “I’m definitely open to suggestions from a more organised point of view, though.” He looks over at her.
She raises a brow, pursing her lips slightly as she listens to him reassert his stance on the subject. A small laugh tumbles free as she shakes her head. The only thing Marigold can do is pretend to believe him on that, though something tells her that he’s exaggerating. She wonders how long he’s been waiting for her. A part of her feels guilty knowing that she was a little later than she intended on being. There’s nothing she can do about it now though. "I’m still going to apologize for not being here when I said I would… and however much longer you were waiting on me.” Being punctual is one thing but then there’s Hari.
Marigold can admit - mostly to herself - that she likes Hari’s smile. It relaxes her, sometimes making the butterflies in her stomach have another fit. She tries to ignore it for the most part, not wanting to admit it to herself. That’s something she’s not ready to deal with. And she doubts it’s something Hari needs to deal with either.
“Then I’ll make sure to keep saying it,” she promises. It’s something she’s sure of and she doesn’t regret saying it as often as she does. Some people need to hear that sort of thing and she thinks that Hari is one of them. Stepping past him into the shop, she shakes her head. “I don’t think you’re capable of annoying me,” Marigold announces. Perhaps he is, but it hasn’t happened in the time that she’s known him and she has her doubts he could. Then again, he could surprise her. “Oh, you’ve heard about some of my cases. Trust me. I have a lot of patience,” she announces as she steps past him into the antique store. “So… what are we looking for first?”

He can't help but chuckle once Marigold calls him out on the white lie he came up with as an attempt to seem more aloof, at this point she knew him too well, Hari was the exact opposite of that being guilty of actually caring too much about things that he shouldn't. But there was something comforting about having someone who could see you for who you are and accept you for it, Hari thought that maybe he wouldn't ever be able to form this kind of bond with anywhere ever again but his connection with Marigold had proven that silly notion wrong and brought the warmth of familiarity back into his life. "Oh, I am positive about that!" He retorts, furrowing his brows upwards as an attempt to outwit her. although he was fully aware it was impossible, it was still fun to try.
Hari still hasn't been able to wipe his initial smile off his face, although it wasn't an uncharacteristic look for him as he was notorious for being an optimist but this feeling was different. Due to a lot of circumstances in his life, he kind of subconsciously felt obligated to be that way so he could uplift other people, be strong for them and lead them towards a different, better perspective. Whenever he was around Marigold, she was the one doing this for him whether she realised it or not, whether she was trying or not; She just needed to be present, be herself and that was enough to inspire Hari in a multitude of ways. They've known each other long enough that he was aware of all of the hardships she's had to face throughout her life, and she knew his as well.
“You definitely have, but I somehow never get tired of hearing it." He sounds like he's teasing her, which he is but there's a logical reason for that because he really values Marigold's opinion and he knows she doesn't say these things lightly. He's always admired how well she carried herself regardless, always with her head held high and not depending on anyone or letting them get in the way of her objectives. He figured if they spent enough time together, that she would pass on these traits to him and the truth is that slowly but surely she has otherwise he wouldn't be able to take this big step today. "I sure am! -- I hope you're as excited as I am for this, otherwise I'm going to annoy the hell out of you." He states whilst he kindly holds the door open for her, waiting for Marigold to enter the store before him. "So I'm hoping your job hasn't taken away all of your patience, because I will definitely need some of it." He gives her a playful wink.
Though most of the time, Marigold would spend her time on her work, some days, she would tap out early. Especially if a better opportunity had presented itself. It has today and she has no qualms about leaving the office before she usually would. She’ll make up for it tomorrow, no doubt. She isn’t behind on anything and…. well. There’s little way she would miss this. It would have to be an earth shattering emergency for that to happen.
She orders an Uber to the Washington Park district. The antique shop isn’t too far from her house and she’ll be able to walk home when she’s done there. She’s excited, loves a good thrift store and the company isn’t bad. She likes spending time with Hari, thinks he’s one the best people she’s met in Denver thus far.
Thanking the driver, she steps out of the car and spots him immediately. Her first thought is wondering how long he’s been waiting for her. Marigold may feel butterflies as she notes his smile, but she pushes them down. Best to ignore those sorts of things. She cocks her head to the side. “Are you sure about that?” she asks with a bit of a laugh. She accepts the cup. “You’re the best. Have I ever told you that?” She returns his smile. “Okay, you ready to find some treasures?”

closed starter for: marigold reed! @secondhnd
location: afterlife antiques
hari had been mustering up the courage to refurnish his apartment for a while now, the memories attached to the decoration were becoming far too painful for him to live with on a daily basis and he had come to the realisation that there was no use in punishing himself for something that was out of his control. however, he needed support for this big step and also a little bit of feminine input so the most logical thing to do was to ask marigold if she could help him out seeing as they both shared a love for antiques.
hari’s standing in front of the shop’s window holding two cups of coffee from her cafe of choice, he had been standing there for about ten minutes because for some unexplainable reason he has this terrible habit of showing up to places way too early when he makes plans with people because he would feel too anxious if someone was to end up waiting around for him. specially marigold of all people, a friend he cherishes so much.
a gentle smile creeps up on his face once he sees marigold approaching, he nearly waves at her excitedly but then reminds himself that both of his hands are busy because he is using them to hold the paper cups. “hey! --” he beams. “i literally just got here.” he’s lying about this because he’s trying to be cool, but it’s quite evident in his tone that this wasn’t the case. before she can even react, he hands her the cup of coffee. “i got you your favourite, as a thank you for being my sidekick on this furniture hunt.”

margaux had just finished working for the day, she was excited to spend the rest of her time with eru for the rest of the day and hang around. however, when she had made it back to theirs she was greeted with an empty apartment so she deducted that her roomie had decided to spend the day outside and quite frankly she absolutely loved the idea. she decided that she wanted to surprise eru with a picnic, margaux gleefully prepared a basket with a variety of snacks and beverages for both of them.
after a short pit stop at the supermarket to buy some additional supplies for the two girls to spend the absolute best afternoon together, she walked around washington park for a while trying to see if she could find eru anywhere which was very difficult because there were swarms of people! upon that observation, margaux had realised just where she had gone and hoped that she wouldn't get lost on the way as that was eru's kind of secret place so she hadn't been to with her that often. thankfully, not too long after she had found the other girl sat on a bench taking a little power nap but she decided to be a little bit obnoxious. "surprise!" margaux exclaims plopping herself next to eru on the bench. "sorry, i thought it would be funny to startle you a little bit." she snorts, holding up the picnic basket afterwards. "but you won't hate me because i prepared loads of delicious food and brought it all the way here so i could have it with you." she bumps her shoulder against eru's playfully with a big grin on her face.
open to ⸻ everyone! [ @chqstarter ] setting ⸻ cherry creek walking trail capped at ⸻ [ 0 / 3 ]
eru had a secret. on days where washington park appeared to be just a little too crowded, she would make her way to the cherry creek district. there was a trail there that wasn't quite as scenic as her usual one, but less foot traffic usually led to more animal encounters. eru usually left pb at home on the days that she would frequent this trail for that reason (he still seemed tired after their hike yesterday, anyway).
usually, eru preferred to go just outside of denver for a little mountain hike. today had a lazier feel to it, though. in acknowledgement of that, eru had settled in on a bench that faced the flowing current. sunlight poured through the trees in patterns that were ever changing, and eru took the moment to feel the breeze caressing her skin. the sun was gentle on her, providing warmth where the shade robbed her of it. eventually, her eyes had shut and eru had almost accidentally drifted off. she snapped back when she felt a presence orient themselves beside her on the bench. eru jumped suddenly, looking to her side in pure half-awake terror. she steadied herself, propping her hands on her knees, and taking a breath. "holy shit, you scared me!" eru explained, bringing one hand to her chest. "sorry, not your fault, i guess i passed out?" way to go, eru, she thought to herself.

Hari was just on his coffee break from one location to another, the weather was very pleasant that day so he had decided to ditch his van and walk so he could enjoy a little more of the sunshine even though he spends the majority of the day soaking in it. In his opinion you could never have too much. His mind was elsewhere as he had his earphones in, but he was pulled back into reality once he felt something move in his pockets. "Oh!" He chuckled as he looked down to the culprit and saw an adorable toddler holding his car keys. He moved one of his headphones to the side, so he could speak to whom he assumed was the guardian of the child. "Don't worry about it! -- Children can get away with these things, also the clinking of the keys inside of my pocket probably sparked his interest." He crouches smiling at the toddler gently and holding his hand out. "I'd let you keep those but I'll probably need them later, but only if you don't mind returning them of course."

Elijah noticed just a second too late. It was almost as if everything had happened in hyper speed. One moment, Noah was walking calmly by his side, the next his hand was pulling something out of someone’s pocket. “Noah,” Elijah scolded, grabbing hold of the three year old’s tiny hand. “Sorry,” he apologized. “Apparently I’m raising a pickpocket.”
