This is the long lost commentary Paul Thomas Anderson claimed he learned all about directing from.  And it is pretty spectacular. Even if you just like to watch film, this puts things into perspective (film is imagination, you know, and you can do anything you want. Fuck realism But it’s clear from Sturges why things should be the way they are.).

Ideally it would accompany a video for the film, but if you sync or even hearing it alone it’s a mind expanding listen.
