At the suggestion, it seems to pause, as if contemplating the offer. On the one hand, it had no master; it didn't have to do anything. On the other, anything it would have done for its brothers is rendered null here. To its knowledge, no other Eggman Robots exist in the city.
...So, really, what did it have to lose?
[...Suggestion accepted. Please direct to establishment.]
锝搯勶剑 "Well, if you want some freelance work, Gamma, I could always use some help around my office organizing cases in my filing cabinet." It's a passive suggestion, "Of course, you'll be compensated for this hobby as you help out!"
"You can always reach me by phone if you don't decide right away. I'm also Hawks in the phone directory."

[Foreign Object on chassis detected. Action...]
...
[...Dismissed.]
Sure. The bird man can sit on him. He probably won't cause any harm.
[E-100 Series not programmed with 'hobbies'. Status to change to 'IDLE' without directive. No current mission in queue.]
But if it didn't observe anything and went into idle mode, that probably wouldn't feel very fulfilling either. Its past two missions were done(?).
[...Suggestion considered.]
It'll think about it.
锝搯勶剑 "Just curious! A lot of newcomers don't seem to know what to do with themselves, as they arrive with nothing but the clothes on their back and their name!" It's a simple enough answer, really. And a harmless one at that.
"It could be a good hobby for you, Gamma!" Given the sheer size difference between Hawks and Gamma, he took it upon himself to fly up and sit cross legged on top of the robot's head.
"You could also just do your own thing and just take it easy. No one expects anything of anyone here. Isn't that neat!"

So, he's a hero... interesting. He's not even the first 'hero' Gamma had met; there were a few. As to how to word that... the robot wasn't sure.
[...Data unavailable. Mission queue empty.]
It's... not sure what to do about the situation. Should it go looking for others like this 'Hawks'? Is that a directive it should follow? Was there a purpose in observing these people? ... Perhaps not.
[Data entry is not the primary function of this system.] ... [Why do you wish to know.]
锝搯勶剑"Easy! Go on some nice patrols, maybe some private investigating, and some real easy hero work!" A nice change of pace from being an active participant in a war he really had no choice to be a part of!
"So, tell me, friend. What're you gonna do with this info? There are a lot more unique citizens around here like me if that interests you." Starting a data collective on all the citizens as a hobby, wasn't a bad idea!

Well, the stranger didn't seem hostile. Friendly, in fact.
[Subject registered: Hawks. Searching data for 'birdman'] ... ... [No data found. Additional observation required.]
This was something new! How exciting.
[Identification: E-102. Codename: Gamma. Former crewmate of the airship: Egg Carrier. Status...]
...
[...Unknown.]
As to why it ended up here, it had no idea. By all accounts, that couldn't be possible--thinking about it too hard caused it to start smoking earlier, so it terminated that process.
[What is... your... purpose.]
锝搯勶剑 Oh! This guy really reminded him of those waiter robots that were taking over in the service industry. Though, this guy seemed a little more advanced than those robots that delivered food to tables.
In fact, his heteromorphic nature seemed to have confused the thing. It made sense, all things considered. Where he might typically have been off put by someone being so forward, robots can't help it, it's in their programming.
"Haha, coooool, I've always wanted to do this. Name: Hawks! Just your average birdman, nothin' cray!"
"What do you identify as?" That's a loaded question.

[Insufficient data recorded for subject: Curses.]
But there's an easier answer here. The robot swivels its head and torso, as if to show something off to the child.
[E-100 Series models do not need to consume organic material to survive.] ... [We lack the necessary components needed for eating.]
No mouth on this robot!
"Oh, my apologies..." Visibly disappointed, Emma returns the food to her basket. "But why can you not eat anything? Everyone needs to eat! Unless..."
"Have you been cursed!? Did a wicked witch make it so you could never eat a delicious muffin ever again? How cruel...!" Someone's imagination was running a little wild.

Well, it knows what a fish is. The concept exists in its database. Things with sometimes scales and sometimes fins living in some body of water at any given time. Specifically, after indexing, this seems to be an 'eel'.
However...
[...Error. Environment does not match species.] ... [You should not be here.]
Is it going to dry out? Should Gamma try and get it back into the water? Given its tone, it sounds more like a threat than a place of concern (especially when the thing saying the eel didn't belong here was a 7-foot combat robot with a gun welded to one of its arms.)

...! This was someone Gamma knew! So when the girl approaches, the robot actually seems to bounce in place for a second or two, as if happy to see her again. After all, this girl was the reason it gained a will of its own!
[Data found. Subject: Amy. 'Friend'.]
Yup--he remembered her! But Gamma didn't know what else became of the pink hedgehog after the Egg Carrier crashed into the ocean.
[Previous suggestion followed. Master registry cleared. Dr. Eggman reclassified as 'Enemy'.]

...He can't make heads or tails of this one. He looks like a human, sure, but there are some big wings on his back too! But he's clearly not a bird...?
[...Classification unknown. No data found.]
What is this thing?
[Identify yourself.]

There's a slight, sharp tone as it scans the item the child is offering to it... and then stops.
[Unable to accept object: Pastry. Ability to process organic consumables is not present in current E-100 Series models.]
A simple 'no thank you' may have been easier to say.
For some reason, though, part of it is a bit sad it can't eat the offered pastry. Why? It's a robot, it can't eat. It shouldn't look appetizing.

After uploading the map of the area into its files, Gamma decided to survey the Cotes ward, this time. The city itself reminds him of Station Square, packed with people and cars and all sorts of buildings... it's not as easy to walk around casually. Woodsy spaces like this ward feel a bit different; less congested. Certainly easier access, and the unfamiliar natural terrain makes for some great information gathering.
What the robot didn't intend to stumble across was its old master's nemesis, who, probably didn't intend to see him there either. One robotic arm sticks out in front, 'fingers' splayed out.
[Combat unnecessary unless hostile provocation commences. Subject 'Sonic the Hedgehog' no longer registered in Enemy Database.]
Robotnik was the one who hated him so much; Gamma didn't really understand why.

It's something of a wordless encounter. Gamma is... large, to say the least, but not unaware of the other. In fact, the robot had been zoomed in on this tiny creature for some time, content to observe it for a while to sense some sort of pattern to the new creature's movements. That pattern appears... to be that the creature keeps picking up sticks around that tree and finding them unsatisfactory, for one reason or another.
So when the robot approaches, it's easy to assume it means harm. It's, not the friendliest looking thing here. One hand reaches up... and over to the tree, gripping a branch.
He then proceeds to rapidly shake and vibrate it, sending a cascade of branches onto the ground.
...
...Back to staring at the creature.
Were these sticks good enough?

The machine swivels its head from the stranger to the machine he was, presumably, riding into the city on. It's probably intimidating, watching a heavy, armed robot stomp toward your location, compacting the sand underneath it. But it did not attack.
Instead, it turns back to the motorcycle, employing its laser system to scan the smoking vehicle. ... It speaks.
[Diagnostic analysis complete. Status of vehicle: Inoperable.]
Well. Duh. The robot turns back to the stranded stranger.
[Possible causes: Excess of foreign material in valves. Faulty carburetor. General lack of preventative care for current environment.] ... [You appear to be stranded.]

Isola Follow: E-102 Gamma
One of the early E-Series of Eggman Robots, though it no longer follows his orders
The concept of 'feelings' is fairly new
It could blast you with its laser rifle. But it probably won't.
Having something of an existential nightmare, it's fine
Prefers not to harm if it doesn't have to
Likes animals!
A combat robot that grew a heart and a conscience, Gamma seems to have been whisked away from its demise and ended up on Radial Island. He's not used to interacting with people at all, but, that's alright. Gamma's a quick learner.
