i think one of if not my favorite aspect of the show has to be the fact that we’re not confined to Lucy as the pov character. Don’t get me wrong I love Lucy dearly (as grating as her internalized misogyny can get), but us getting to experience the lockwood torture scene? us getting to see the kensal green cemetery fight with the winkman goons? Us getting to see the steps leading up to George getting betrayed by Joplin and kipps getting captured in the catacombs??? Truly delightful. I’m glad they really took advantage of their formatting

if you think about it enough (4 seconds) then George’s reaction to Lucy joining the agency can very much be seen as a parallel to Lucy’s reaction to Holly joining the agency (they are both motivated by crushes and jealousy over sharing Lockwood)

gonna be honest I am not seeing enough hate for the way they portrayed kipps in the show LMAO. My biggest issue obv being him hitting on Lucy?????? That was so incredibly uncomfortable???????? And unnecessary????????? Like when I was watching it when it dropped I was so uncomfortable about it I had to like. Take a break from watching for a little bc like. Even with the shows aged-up Lucy she’s still only 16. And we don’t Technically know kipps’ age in the show (to my knowledge) but presumably (like in the books) he’s in his early/mid twenties (I’d argue closer to mid twenties based off his actors age + his complete inability to see ghosts at all during the whispering skull events but w/e) but when that recruitment scene happened I was genuinely upset by it. Why the fuck did they think it would be okay/a good idea to make a grown man ask out a 16 yr old on a date?? I even went back to the books and double checked the scene they were basing that off of to make sure that *i* hadn’t just missed text/subtext while reading the books, but no. There was absolutely 0 allusion to kipps asking out teen Lucy on a date, this was a show original choice and one I truly Despise. I even tried to hold out hope that it was a miscommunication error the show was going to address and rectify in-universe, but with the “longing” fittes ball scene and lockwood and Lucy talking about it as a date (played completely straight), there really is no other way to read it I feel??? It makes me really uncomfortable and also mildly worried about what direction they’re gonna take that in if we get a renewal, esp bc I have Not seen enough people complaining about how fucking weird that was. I have some other minor issues w/ how they wrote him in the show but all of them absolutely pale in comparison to the show deciding to make him act like a fucking predator???? huh???? what????
