I have a million better endings for them rotating in my head. At heart they’re all based on the idea of: what if the cycle of violence actually ended? I know the end of Frank’s story in the show is supposed to feel like a victory, like we defeated the enemy, but it never seemed that way to me. I could go way more in depth, but basically I don’t like it because it means Frank isn’t the 4077th’s problem anymore, but it’s nothing more than that. He’s still going to go home to an unhealthy marriage and the kids he never wanted, and they’ll grow up damaged, and nothing will ever change. I’m pulling her out of that scenario one drawing and one fanfiction at a time. AND BOY IT’LL HURT! But it’s also fun :]

It is once again Dreams for Sale day!!! New episode out now on Webtoon and Tapas!! As always, I have to wait and see if Webtoon is going to take the episode down lol but this one SHOULD be fine. I do recommend reading on Tapas, though, because two episodes are censored on Webtoon </3

As promised, here are some comparisons between the current version of this comic versus the original that I drew in 2022. There will be more of these when I find the time to comb through and find all the panels with direct equivalents in the old version. If you need that push to start making comics, THIS IS YOUR SIGN! Making comics has been undeniably the best thing to happen to my art next to learning how to draw white people by doing Star Trek fanart.

I’m not looking forward to reformatting these super long panels for print, but stick with me and we’ll all see how it turns out 💪💪

The weather has been awful and disgusting and hot and humid so naturally I had to make The Characters suffer with me.

I really loved drawing this background. The army setting of M*A*S*H doesn’t leave a lot of room for a real 50s feel (also the anachronisms…) so it’s especially fun to draw post war scenes. I’m very comfortable working with earth tones but I do also understand why Hawkeye constantly complains about everything being green. And here’s Frank, still in green…very telling. Red is definitely Margaret’s color, so I used a lot of it here :] She also has too many potholders and dish towels because she makes them as a hobby. Everyone else probably has too many too, I can see her mailing them all across the country for Christmas lol.

Also, I must have you know that I choose the music I add very carefully 👉👈 (most of the time)

I was working on my comic and it was getting a little monotonous (sketching is my least favorite part) so I decided to just draw whatever was in front of me. It's not entirely accurate and not very high effort, but the point was just to loosen up and I think I accomplished that :] The whole thing took about an hour.

Here's everything in the picture: a banana cake wrapped in plastic on a cutting board, a napkin (crumpled), a badly photocopied article, a bag of loose leaf tea (unopened), a mechanical pencil, my flip phone, my notebook (full of M*A*S*H fanfic) with a pen in the spine, a napkin (pristine condition), a calculator which I use to hold books open, Taking a Chance on God by John J. McNeill, a table easel with my laptop hung over the back showing an ellipsus tab with my comic script open.

The river rises, my friends! I’m so glad to be able to say I contributed to @zineoftideandflesh along with so many other incredible artists to commemorate the finale of The Silt Verses! I’m also glad to say that I was far from the only one to get biblical with it haha. As you may have guessed, this piece is a reimagining of Pietà. The Cairn Maiden is my favorite god in the series because she’s an entirely neutral figure, very fitting for a god of death. When drawing her I really wanted to bring that out with the contrast between her grotesque appearance and gentle body language. And the fungus growing on her is disgusting but it’s also a beautiful sign of the cycle of life and death.

I just finished Indiana, Arizona, and In Between and I'm fucking foaming at the mouth! So good!! the way you write the two of them I can hear it in their voices it's so fucking good and the dynamic you nail it, it was so perfect it's so them and I just I love seeing Frank happy. The way you write Margaret just SENDS me I can hear all of the lines in her voice. And the way you show Margaret's character development in the show and how she grew so much in Korea and Frank just got broken. And you showed Frank how Margaret grew after Frank left Korea, which, *chef kiss* and they still fight so cute and good, but Margaret is softer and more mature and kind and assertive, I love how you wrote her. BUT,, YOU, you fixed Frank, freed her from Louise and gave her the BISEXUAL TRUTH she deseveres. I read this whole fic in a fevor this morning. it was toture, I had to stop to feed my dog and get breakfast in the middle of the beautiful hotel sex scene, I thought the pause was going to kill me. and on that scene-by-the-way the whore fantasy was perfect!! and so well done, and the shoe polishing, your attention to detail both within your scenes and from all of MASH is truely a thing of beauty. Look out I'll be reading all your MASH fic now, more reviews incoming in the following days.

"I can hear it in their voices" is such a massive compliment, characterization is the MOST important thing to me, it has to be THEM!! I really love writing Frank and Margaret getting back together after the war because they have to get to know each other again, but also they already know each other in such fundamental ways. They're the same people, just twisted around a bit. And Margaret has sort of already been where Frank is now, unable to make connections with the people around her, constantly placing her self worth on what she can accomplish. houagouguhhhhh they make me sick !!!

In canon they have such an interesting kind of honesty with each other, but the biggest obstacle to their relationship is that...they don't realize it. They look at each other and say, "is this normal?" "yeah it's normal" because they're unable to admit to their own deviance. And admitting that the other isn't quite the perfect normal American would mean admitting the same thing about themselves, which I think would BREAK them in those early seasons. So coming back to each other after they've both realized who they are,, I think it can work!!

Your posts about fem Frank has got me thinking about her and various ways to trans her within canon, and anyways, maybe Hawkeye and Trapper decide to prank her by putting estrogen (derived from pregnant mare urine, the common source of the time) into her food after she makes a few too many "well, if I were a woman" comments. Her body starts to change, and at first she's worried about it but also she secretly kind of likes it, and also how it impacts her and Margaret's relationship. People start using she/her pronouns for her, at first as an attempt at a mean joke, but then everybody gets used to it and just keeps using them. Margaret is the only one who refuses because she's concerned about Frank being bullied until Frank admits that really, she kind of likes that everyone considers her a woman now. Eventually Frank finds out about the prank, and she's upset that Hawkeye and Trapper would do that but also she asks them if they can help her keep getting her hormones, and they agree bcuz she is 0.1% less irritable and mean now that she's happier. Whenever someone not from the camp visits, they just think she's a woman with an interesting name, and when anyone who knew her before asks about the change, Frank claims that she just has a hormonal condition now (and Hawkeye and Trapper back up the diagnosis.)

Hawkeye and Trapper with trans Frank is a really fun dynamic that I’m writing about in a fic that is currently 52k words (good lird). I’m excited to start posting it on ao3 but I don’t want to do that until I finish the first draft so I don’t put pressure on myself. I’m doing this for FUN!

It’s focused on social transition rather than physical and it’s taking a longgggggg time. I have never written a character who works against me as much as Frank but she will get there! I have an extra little bit of tension in there with Hawkeye accidentally finding out about Frank’s deviance while Trapper is out of the loop, so now Hawkeye has to deal with this secret he doesn’t really want to know about, and he can’t even talk to his best friend about it. I’m also using Frank and Klinger as foil characters (cishet crossdresser trying to seem more deviant than he actually is vs closeted trans women who leans cartoonishly hard into masculinity in order to conform). And of courseeeeee it has frankmarg, with Margaret getting to crash out a bit later lol.

I shan’t say any more since I don’t want to spoil the whole fic but I am working hard and it will be out there eventually! Right now I have go back and fix some stuff because I…lost Trapper. Since the main conflict of the story is still a secret to him it’s hard not to lose track of him. Nobody has seen him for 7 chapters, he’s AWOL 😭

And what you said about Frank being more bearable is a HUUUUGE part of it too! It’s double-faceted—she does better both when she’s able to interact positively with people and when she’s perceived the way she wants to be, but she’s also too much of a coward to be vulnerable enough to do either of these things. Hold on I have to call Sidney Freedman—

As for physical transition, I actually do have Frank on Premarin in this fic! (and the following more depraved oneshots). It’s a shame about the side affects but oh well it’s all that would have been available, </3

Previews for the latest episode of Dreams for Sale on webtoon and tapas! Unfortunately this was my second episode to get taken down (this time for violence rather than nudity) but it's back up! The webtoon version is censored so I recommend reading it on tapas instead, but alas, most of my readers still come from webtoon so I'm not going to stop posting there.

Because of all the trouble I've had with webtoon I'm going to start drawing future episodes in page format rather than scroll format so I can print the full, uncensored comic in the future. It'll be I think 8 months before those episodes start coming out (hooray for my buffer zone) but hopefully it won't be too jarring. I'm also in the process of reformatting all existing episodes (and making some small edits to art and dialogue), but I don't anticipate going back and replacing them online because I'd have to censor them all over again, and to be honest webtoon just isn't worth all that. It's extra incentive to buy the print book when it comes out!

The biggest sacrifice is those huge long panels I love doing </3 I'm going to have to cut them up to fit them on the page.

Anyway this is my half of an art trade with @red-cicada !!! These are his OCs, Ángel and To’Mal, and it was so fun to draw them!! Give a man a healthy ship and he’ll eat for a day, give a man a couple who kind of hate each other and he’ll eat for a year!

It was really nice to get back to that sickly overwhelmingly green look. I was using a lot of green back when I was working on concept art for Circuit, but now that project is sooooo far on the back burner it’s practically outside the kitchen lol.

This is perhaps after a Christmas or New Year’s party, 1959-1960. Most people introduce their spouse or girlfriend or boyfriend; Margaret brings her “roommate.” Everyone knows they served in Korea together, no one has to know Frank was drafted.

Thinking about them finding each other after the war, new and improved (at least slightly) is eating an enormous hole in my brain. Things are better!! Much better!! But also it’s still the 1950s-60s and you just can’t be open about everything. To what extent do they still have to pretend, and how okay are they with that? How okay would Margaret be with never being able to have a relationship she can show off?

I HAD to draw these dresses as soon as I saw them, and due to my current hyperfixation there was only one option lol.

Under the cut are closeups, the real dresses, and the full drawing without the color adjustments I added at the end. I think the purple/orange looks good but I still like the pulpy yellowness of the original

Of course since it’s the last day of the month it is also DREAMS FOR SALE DAY!!! The latest episode is out now on webtoon and tapas! It would have been nice to have Joan and Eleanor’s first meeting go up during pride month but alas, it didn’t work out that way. They will meet in August though, so stay tuned!!

I was really enjoying the contrast of the blood on the white dress but I feel like after all the shading the dress doesn’t even read as white anymore :[ That’s okay though, it’ll have another chance when it appears in the comic, which is a LONG way down the line but we’ll get there!

I'm biased toward the early seasons and it shows lol. I like how I drew Margaret's hair here more than in the last batch, I think it's sillier <3
